A Block (part 1) + intro | A Block (part 2) + faction guide | B Block (part 1) + Any Other Guys| B Block (part 2) + miscellaneous info
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's G1 season again and that can only mean one thing... another super serious, highly accurate, 100% official NJPW G1 PowerPoint Guide! The format is slightly different this year (now with 55% fewer wrestlers overall! But 25% more wrestlers per block! And 100% less Yano 😭) so I'm splitting each block into two posts. [Edit: Part 2, running down the second half of A Block, is out now!]
As usual, let me know what you think! Hopefully you find it useful/entertaining/all of the above!
And finally, thanks to @sycamoretrees , @thewaythroughthewoods , @livelaughlariat and @unpairedbracket for your feedback and contributions, and for just being great wrestling pals in general (and sorry for inevitably accidentally stealing some of your jokes <3)

Digital TV Guide, April 2024 Issue ft. Iuchi Haruhi Interview (translation below)
Publication: February 24, 2024
Iuchi Haruhi -BoonRed's design leaves an impact!-
Iuchi Haruhi plays the role of Taiya Hando (BoonRed) in "Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger." We asked the 19 year old about his enthusiasm for playing the lead role in the historic Super Sentai series.
"How did you feel when it was decided that you had been chosen to appear in the show?"
Iuchi: I went to the office after I received a call from my manager saying, "I'd like for us to talk face to face," and while making small talk, he suddenly said, "You've been chosen to appear as Red in the new Sentai." It didn't seem real at first, it felt as if I was listening to the decision that my friend had been picked, and that I wasn't involved. I played multiple roles at the audition, not just Red, so it didn't really feel as if I had been chosen as Red.
"What kind of character is Taiya Hando, who you were chosen to play?"
Iuchi: He's a genius in development and modification, is wealthy, and has a passionate heart but doesn't show it. Boonboomger is initially made up of three members, Red, Blue and Pink, but he's the most mentally mature out of all of them. However, I couldn't express it well at first, as Director Nakazawa Shojiro, who was in charge of episodes 1-3, always just told me to, "Up your mentally. Be less childish." I have the image that he's 5 years older than my actual age. It's difficult, but I think I'm gradually becoming able to express this, and I get the feeling that I'm starting to grasp Taiya's character of being "calm but not cool."
"Please tell us your impressions of BoonRed's design, Taiya's form after transforming."
Iuchi: I thought, "They're going with this, huh?" (laughs). I kept thinking about the tires being stuck on the front of the face. There's been Sentai with car motifs in the past, but these designs are way different from those, so it leaves an impact.
"What are some memorable moments from the episodes that have been filmed so far?"
Iuchi: We've had clear weather since filming began, but on the day when all five members of Boonboomger assemble for the first time, it snowed and filming had to stop. While we were waiting, everyone played around and made snowmen.
"For the next year, you'll be playing the role of a hero."
Iuchi: I talked with Mori Hirotsugu-san, BoonRed's Suit Actor, and asked him to show me the poses he does in action scenes, which I would recreate, and I also asked Mori-san to do the poses that I came up with to match the dialogue. I'd like to continue to work together to create the hero named Taiya Hando. I want to do my best so that children who watch the show will think, "The Boonboomger's are my heroes." _
-What are the conditions for being a hero?- Iuchi: Yuuri-san and Eve-san (singers) are the ones who have my back. Whenever I feel like I'm lacking confidence and want to give up, I listen to their music and become encouraged. For me, the conditions for being a hero are……I guess it's to never ask for anything in return.

yuji talks about proper death all thru jjk and theres that convo with nanami thats about how he does not want to kill anyone, he wants to see as many people as possible get a good death. mahito’s idle transfiguration leads to deaths like junpei’s at his hands, which is horrific, or deaths like pretty much all the other transfigured humans we see, where a sorcerer has to take them out (we watch nanami wipe away a transfigured humans tears while lying about separating feelings from work, which is another post). nanami, who has seen some of the worst the world has to offer and has had many “bad deaths” at his hands and in his time as a sorcerer/student, basically says “good luck with that (but no really)” cuz how can death be made good in this line of work beyond the rare, circumstantial, coincidental good deaths that pop up here n there? how could yuji ever make enough good deaths to satisfy whatever his personal standards are for this goal for himself as a sorcerer?
i would have loved to see yuji and shoko talk about this. she is witness to the horror of death by curse or curse technique, she is responsible for preventing it after injury. what would she tell him? would it break his heart, because she is honest and apathetic to these horrors bc she was his age when she started learning how to fix the unfixable, and cope when they REALLY couldnt be fixed? did she have to learn by repairing her classmates wounds? did she try to save haibara? or, would she give him hope? tell him that sometimes, a good death cannot be seen in the body but was felt in the soul? that he has indeed made for many many good deaths, he just has to trust that because he saved many deaths from being at the hands of curses/techniques?
#yuji itadori#shoko ieiri#jujutsu kaisen#jjk#death mention#ask to tag#i googled a bunch of stuff abt death n dying in japan bc… i could go on about this tbh im just not learned enough#yuji as a curse-savvy death care working guiding curse-impacted humans to good deaths when

Hey Niu~ Do you have any smaller wonders you'd recommend visiting in Japan
Sure!
OSAKA
If you go to Osaka around the end of a month, there's a monthly temple flea market in the Shitennoji temple yard. It's arranged on 21st and 22nd of each month, and regular people are selling there their old stuff, as well as booths selling vintage kimonos, yukatas, haoris etc., ceramics, decorations, lots of antique items, statues etc. Take a subway to Tennoji station, the temple is next it. Read more here!
In Osaka, near Tenma JR railwaystation, is a takoyaki shop owned by an 86 year old lady called Hiroko. She's been making takoyakis for 60 years in that shop. You might have seen this image set of Hiroko giving a piece of her mind about people complaining that her food is too yellow (if not, see it - it's hilarious!) Her shop is called たこ焼き 寛子(ひろこ), Takoyaki Hiroko (Hiroko). The address is 5 Chome-6-3 Tenjinbashi, Kita Ward, Osaka, 530-0041, Japan. If you use subway, get off at Ogimatchi station to get to her store.
If you love toys and anime merch, there are two good spots for these in Osaka; one is the famous Den Den Town and other one is Kiddy Land in Umeda.
You can get to Den Den Town the easiest from Nipponbashi metro station. Just head towards south. You can also walk from Namba to Den Den Town as it's just right the next corner.
Kiddy Land is a bit harder to locate in the gigantic Hankyuu department store (which is like multiple building spreading across the whole Umeda) but you can get there the best from Umeda station. Kiddy Land has lots of toy stores, like Miffy, San-X, and a mixed store of everything cute, and also a Lego store. If you go out from the building from the door next to the Lego store, you can walk a few ten meters to a big Loft-store. It also has some merch, typically San-X and Sanrio and Disney stuff, but on the top floor of the same building there's an anime store. They sell lots of art books, replica swords and also special collectible statues like Japanese deities.
Special mentioning goes to the Namba Daiso (Namba Daiso Nansan-dori). It has 5 floors, all stuff with 100 yens. It's very near Namba metro station, easy to find! If you want to get super fancy and you've got a big budget, the Takashimaya department store is near this Daiso. You can find all kind of food items there, some with ridiculous prices. There's also Daimaru department store in Namba in close proximity - they sell fresh made taiyaki cakes in the bottom floor's food section.
KYOTO
Near Kyoto, you can find a small town of Arashiyama. It is the most well-known for its ancient wooden bridge and bamboo forests. People go just walk around into the bamboo forest. Many movies and TV series has been filmed in that forest. There's a direct train service to Arashiyama from Kyoto. Arashiyama is especially gorgeous at the end of November when the fall has arrived to Kansai area. It's apparently also super pretty during cherry flower season in spring. There are lots of temples in a small area, too, if you want to explore them.
(Here's the famous bridge).
In Kyoto, there's a design shop of SOU SOU. Now, SOU SOU makes and sells handmade tabi shoes, kimonos, yukatas, string bags, dishware, and wonderful print tabi socks but they also have their own, traditional Japanese café at their Kyoto store called Sou Sou Zaifu. You can get only coffee and matcha tea here - the order is hand made in order in front of you. It's very quiet and idyllic, intimate place. I accidentally went here to find shelter from a rain and it was so lovely. Even the shop itself is worth the visit, if you're interested in fashion and design! Read more here.
(Sou Sou Zaifu cafe. It seems the same guy is still working here. He was very friendly!)
TOKYO
If you travel in Tokyo, about 45 minutes by train from Tokyo is the city of Saitama. Saitama has a Sayama Hills at Tokorozama, which is also known as The Totoro Forest. Hayao Miyazaki has taken inspiration to Totoro from Sayama Hills. It was hard to find any information of this place in English (and even in Japanese!) in the past, but nowadays there's information in English. Read more here (with a Japanese map)

A Block (part 1) + intro | A Block (part 2) + faction guide | B Block (part 1) + Any Other Guys | B Block (part 2) + miscellaneous info
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is it! The fourth and final part of this year's G1 Guide, on the second half of B Block! If you're not caught up yet, follow the links above to check out the first three parts. The bonus material this time is an assortment of info that I thought might be useful. Plus KENTA! I can believe I forgot to include him yesterday! Sorry KENTA, it wasn't intentional, please don't bully me (or my mother) on twitter.
Other than that, all that remains is to wish you a very happy G1! I can't believe it's starting tomorrow! May the best Blorbo win! (unless your blorbo is EVIL, in which case sorry, but fuck your blorbo) If you're planning to watch, especially if it's your first G1, do reach out and let me know how you find it! Or ask me any remaining questions you might have! My asks/DMs are always open!
Oh, and thank you all for reading and for all your kind comments! It makes me very, very happy to hear that people enjoy my nonsense (and even find it useful?? Bizarre) Okay, peace out. And #Justice4Yano!
