Wait- is grinding teeth in your sleep from anxiety actually a thing? I've been diagnosed with anxiety for a few years and sometimes I wake up and my teeth hurt for no reason?? This is a thing??? What????
Yes it is a thing, and it slowly becomes more noticeable as your teeth will get smaller. Mine have. It’s fucking annoying and I have to wear a hunk of plastic in my mouth to curve the effects.

I didn't notice how much the fridge noise was bothering me until it stopped. sometimes existing in my body is like that, I think. I've taught my body to ignore every discomfort for so long that I sometimes am in genuine sensorial distress and have no idea why
#sensory issues#i have severe bruxism and i used to think it was psychological#but now i kind of think it's also a coping mechanism i developed for when some sensory thing is bothering me#the issue is that sometimes ill be grinding my teeth brutally and have absolutely no idea what ks bothering me#until the noise is REMOVED

Wow so long i ignored my bruxism (teeth and jaw grinding and clenching) and tongue placement and now it appears my mysterious pains and sleep and anxiety problems might be related with it as it changes the way I'm breathing and relaxing the muscles??? And also it makes me less pretty and my jaw is probably already deformed (i have a chad jaw but a little too much lately)
Guys take care of your jaw/tongue/teeth health as it is apparently something serious lol

What is an Occlusal Splint?
Occlusal splints, also known as ‘Night Guards’, are removable dental appliances that are customised to fit your teeth either on the upper or lower arch, to treat night grinding (bruxism). Occlusal splints are generally recommended for people who grind their teeth and patients with extensive dental treatment such as crowns, veneer and dental implants.
How does it work?
An occlusal splint is a slim, hard acrylic or polycarbonate guard that is designed to be worn at night and/or during high stress work.
The splint does not stop you from grinding or clenching, but it does guide the lower jaw to a neutral position that relieves some pressure on the joint and protects teeth from destructive forces.
Will grinding my teeth ruin my teeth?
Bruxism is a condition where a person grinds their teeth and clenches their jaw muscles during sleep. This is an involuntary habit. The reason for this condition is unknown, but stress can play a major role. Bruxism is a very common occurrence and often individuals are unaware of their habit.
What is Bruxism?
Bruxism causes upper and lower teeth to wear against each other and leads to gradual shortening and chipping of the biting surfaces of teeth. This is called attrition and can cause sensitivity. Bruxism can also cause damage to gums, jaw bones, soreness of jaw muscles, TMJ problems, headaches and disturbed sleep.
