Sweatshirt (Greg House x gn reader)
Summary: House gets jealous by a certain article of clothing you're wearing
Tumblr media
Warnings: petty/jealous House (aka the best kind), heavily implied poly House x reader x Wilson in case that's not your thing, very mild and brief swearing
A/N: based off a random little thought I had. don't ask me when during the show this is supposed to be set because I have no clue
Tumblr media
It was missing. Wilson's McGill sweatshirt was missing, and House was very upset. It was his turn to wear it, and although he could've sworn he left it balled up on his side of the bed before he left for work it wasn't there when he returned.
The thought popped into his head that someone might've stolen it, but that was just stupid. After all, who would break into his apartment just to take a sweater?
You, apparently, as he soon came to realize when combing back over his place to look for it. He hadn't noticed it on you at first when he walked in, but now it was hard to miss, like a bright red target painted across your chest.
He almost glared at the way you were casually lounging on the couch, reading a book as if you hadn't stolen from him. "You're wearing his sweater." It wasn't a question, rather a statement, which made sense due to how very obvious the fact was.
You looked up from where you'd been reading and gave him an unimpressed look. "And you walk with a cane. Tell me something I don't know."
The corners of his lips quirked upwards into an amused half smile, but he tried to push his fond thoughts of you to the side for the time being. "You know, it's my turn to wear his sweater."
Letting out a hum, you dropped your eyes back down to the book in your hands and lazily turned the page. "Technically, it's my turn, after you decided to hide it for three weeks so I couldn't wear it."
That was true, he did do that. It was for no reason other than to mess with you, but now he was really started to regret his past decisions, something that rarely happened, if ever.
"You stole it from me, right out of my very own bed," he tried a different approach, putting on a face of mock hurt and offense in hopes of swaying you and getting it back. "Shame on you."
"You stole it from me first." Damn it, you had him there. "I was just returning the favor."
House stood there in front of you for a few minutes more hoping you'd somehow break with no such luck. Sighing loudly, he flopped down in his armchair, giving you a dirty look. "You know, two wrongs don't make a right."
You glanced up from your book, peeking at him from over the top of it. "An ethics lecture coming from you of all people? Well, this oughta be good." Now, it was your turn to be amused, something that didn't bode well with his competitive nature.
Seeing as it wasn't going to happen any other way, he tried a more direct approach in order to get you to give it back. "I want it. I want to wear it. It's mine."
"Technically, no, it's not. It's Wilson's, and I'm borrowing it," you pointed out, appearing unbothered by the evil look getting thrown your way. "Go find something else of his to wear if it's upsetting you so bad."
"I don't want to wear something else, though," he whined obnoxiously, trying to get on your nerves. It was working, but not nearly enough to get him what he wanted.
"Tough, because I'm wearing it right now. You're just going to have to deal with it."
Part of you thought that maybe you'd won this argument when he got up and left the room, but that thought was soon diminished when he came back less than a few minutes later, throwing something at your head.
"Really?" You asked in obvious irritation while pulling the shirt he'd thrown at you off your head.
"Put that on, and give me the sweatshirt back. That way you'll still feel all cozy and close to your doting boyfriends without having to wear that specifically," he reasoned as he stood there, his hands resting on the top of his cane. He looked proud of himself, like he was a little kid who'd finally solved a puzzle.
Despite your annoyance, it was hard to keep the slight smile off your face. Still, you weren't going to let him win that easily. "I'm not wearing it because of sentimental value. I'm wearing it because it's comfortable."
He groaned loudly, becoming visibly annoyed. "Why must you always be so damn difficult?"
"Funny, I could ask you the same question," you muttered as you held up the shirt and took a good look at it. It was one of House's old band tees, which made you realize something. "Hold on, are you jealous because you don't get to wear the sweatshirt, or is it because I'm wearing Wilson's clothes and not yours?"
The obvious pout on his face quickly gave away the answer. "Just give me the sweatshirt now, and I'll promise I'll give it back later." He held his hand out expectantly, resulting in you throwing his shirt back at his face.
"Nice try, but you're going to have to pry this off my cold, dead body." You settled back into the couch with your book as he walked away, grumbling under his breath. It appeared as though you'd won the battle, for now at least.

End notes: I've never written for House before but I tried to capture his personality the best I could! Hope y'all liked the Hilson references sprinkled in lol

Every cell in your body was tired, your feet were killing you from being on heels for the last week, your patience was worn out after seven consecutive days with stuck-up people, your neck and back were cramped from the flight and all you wanted was to get home and curl up in bed.
Paying the cab driver, you noticed the orange bike parked outside the apartment building, meaning your boyfriend came home early from work.
Unlocking the door, you entered and put your suitcase aside. Greeted by your boyfriend sitting on the armchair reading a medical journal about cardiology.
“Oh goodie, you’re back, be a dear and put this on the door handle outside,” he asked, holding out his stethoscope.
Scrunching your eyebrows you chose not to question and just nod and follow his request. Then you sat down on the armrest, one arm rested his shoulder, and played with his hair while the other stroked his cheek down to play with his shirt collar.
“Missed me?” You asked as you opened the top button.
Looking down at your hand, then at your cleavage, and lastly your eyes, “Kinda busy.”
Stopping your actions and raising your eyebrows in surprise, “You’re declining sex?”
Pretending to think it over, he reached over to sneak his hand under your shirt and single-handedly unhooked your bra.
“If you put it that way,”
Laughing you took off your shirt and bra along with it before standing up, taking his hand in yours, and pulling him towards your bedroom.
You lay down on your bed, he immediately placed open-mouth kisses down your neck and then chest. “No need for these,” he said slowly. His voice was grave as he tugged on your pants and you nodded, quickly getting off him. He helped tug them down and your underwear came with it.
reaching a hand to his hair, deepening the kiss as you moved your position. Carefully straddling his lap, you subtly rocked yourself down against him. His hands immediately came to your hips, squeezing tightly. Stroking your hands down his neck, you began to undo the dress shirt he had on, one button at a time. You teased him when you got to the bottom of his shirt, having to pull it out from being tucked in, you lingered your fingertips around his waistline, tracing around the top of his belt slowly. You kept your kisses deep and sweet, taking in every second. Pressing your hands teasingly up his chest before cupping his checks. You looked at Greg and then to his lips. You moved closer and closer to him, eventually kissing him, keeping your lips hardly apart, “No foreplay, I need you.”
His hand was on your waist, pushing you down against his now hard cock.
He took a hold of his cock, before pushing it against your entrance. You moaned, looking into his blue eyes. You wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him, sinking lower and lower on his length.
He moaned into the kiss. His tongue entered your mouth, exploring it. You circled your hips against his. You pulled away, closing your eyes as you picked up speed. Lips attached to your neck, sucking on your sweet spot.
Low grunts came from him. You ran your hand through his head, pushing him closer. You bounced on his cock, moans and whimpers left your lips and it sounded like heaven to him. Seeing you riding his cock, making all those pretty sounds for him, he could come right then.
Moving you to lay on your back, You reached your arms around him, feeling his broad shoulder blades. Spreading your legs slightly, you felt his hips touch yours, you let go of him for a moment to align with you before he returned on top of you and you wrapped your legs around him. You dropped your jaw feeling every inch of him sink in while he kissed up your neck roughly, impatient already, one hand tangling in your hair messily, as the other felt its way down to the back of your thigh adjusting your position a little to make it easier.
“Greg,” your voice was shaky as you buried your face in the crook of his neck.
Digging your nails into his shoulder and bicep, you moaned in bliss kissing his neck. Gently starting to move his hips, you relaxed at the suddenly beautiful feeling rushing through your body. He was busy kissing your jawline as his pace became rougher.
He continued his rough pace, you gasped, arching your back and rolling your shoulders back feeling his fingertips press deep into your back as he held you there for a moment. You pushed your chest up against him and couldn’t help wanting to touch every inch of him. Scratching your nails down his back as he buried his face against your neck.
Teeth gripping against your tender skin, you cum seconds before he does. He rested his forehead on yours, your sweat mingling as you both catch your breath. He waited a few minutes before he pulled out of you, kissed your temple, and went to the bathroom to bring a damp cloth to clean you both.
It was your stomach growling that pulled you out of your nap. You grabbed the first shirt you could find, which happened to be one of Greg’s graphic tees and a pair of panties before making your way to the kitchen.
“Greg? You want to go grab some-“You paused upon seeing a brown-haired man in a suit washing dishes.
Staring at each other in surprise you missed House coming up behind you.
“Wilson, meet y/n.” He introduced.
Reaching to shake his hand, “I assume Greg didn’t mention me, I’m his girlfriend. Now if you excuse me, I’m going to put on some pants.” You say awkwardly and rush back to the bedroom.
Wilson quickly pulled him to the kitchen and whispered shouted at House, “How long have you been with her?”
“Met her when Stacy and I were in Baltimore.” House shared.
"So you moved your hooker into the apartment just to make me miserable? I can find my own place if you’d stop deleting my messages."
"She's not a hooker." He admitted quietly looking anywhere but at his friend.
“She’s the reason you sent Stacy away,” Wilson concluded.
House sighed and nodded, he was saved from the conversation when you came back to the kitchen, “Anyone hungry?
Smiling wildly at you, “I’ll cook.” Wilson volunteered.
“You’re our guest, you shouldn’t cook for-“
Greg interrupted you, “Y/n, he offered, don’t insult him. Let the man cook.”
Both Wilson and you rolled your eyes.
“You can help by keeping me company and telling me about yourself,“ Wilson suggested.
Grinning you agreed.

You tagged along, following your brother through the hospital. Trying to memorize your surroundings and directions whilst listening to his explanations. You clearly couldn’t do the two things at the same time. Already feeling completely lost in the building, you tried to absorb whatever information your brother gave you.
He walked towards the elevators, holding a open folder in his hand. Still chatting as he pressed the button. The doors opened as Wilson walked in. Looking up from his folder, seeing you were lingering at the elevator. – “Aren’t you getting on?” – he asked with a quirked up brow.
“Oh.” – you softly said, not at all paying attention to it. You had been looking around for any significant points to memorize later. The doors already started to close. He moved his hand forwards to prevent them from closing. The doors swished open once more as you hopped in.
Giving your brother a nervous smile, watching the doors close afterwards. If he hadn’t been interrupted, he continued to pick up where he left off. Informing you about the new team you would be enlisted in. Batting your gaze up, you tried to mesmerize the names of your team mates. The lift stopped as you paid attention to what floor you were on now. Doors swishing open as some people were already waiting for the elevator.
You hopped out after your brother. Trying to keep up with his pace. Wilson closed the folder, holding it back to you. You quickly accepted it, slightly panicking as you felt like unable to remember what he had been blabbing about in the past hour. He turned, pausing in front of a glass door. Taking the handle with a deep sigh. Wilson blocked your view as you waited for him to enter.
“Wilson!” – A mature man’s voice called out. – “Come to see how I am close to win my record of throwing seven peanuts at once in my mouth?”- the man continued. – “No.” – Wilson sighed out. You had entered the office, stepping away from behind your brother. Coming eye to eye with a man sitting behind his desk.
Or rather laying comfortably. Feet up on the desk. A bag of peanuts in his hand. – “Is it bring your hooker to work? You should’ve told me, I would’ve brought mine.” – the man said teasingly. Wilson sighed once more, rubbing his fingers up his forehead. – “House, this is my younger sister Y/n.” – he made clear. Your eyes widened briefly at the realization that this was Dr. House.
The Dr. House your brother had been nagging and warning your ears off for hours now. Dr. House simply hummed intrigued. – “Alright is it bring your sister to work day then?” – he replied unbothered. You looked over at your brother as he held his hand low, letting you know he was dealing with it.
Wilson sighed for the third time. – “I’ve told you before House. Y/n is joining your team as of today.” – your brother explained. House made a sound that he was wrong. – “House.” – Wilson begged not in the mood for his difficulties. – “The notice has been collecting dust on your desk for weeks now.” – Wilson pointed out.
Gesturing at the folder that laid underneath his feet. House lowered his feet from the table to look at the blue folder on his desk. He casually opened it. He then closed it, throwing it at the bin. – “House!” – Wilson called out. You placed your hand on your brother’s arm to calm him down. Wilson exhaled deep.
“Y/n will be on your team and that is final.” – he made clear. Wilson turned to you, mumbling out an apology in name of House. – It’s alright James.” – you whispered back. With a last comforting touch on your shoulder, he left to go back to his own department. – “So Wilson nr. 2.” – House let out setting his hands on the desk. – “Pretty faces don’t last long here.”
“I assure you doctor that I am more than just a ‘pretty’ face.” – you responded. Dr. House curled up a smirk. – “Meetings over there.” – he pointed at the room next door, visible through the glass windows. You nodded respectfully, taking your leave. House leaned back in his chair funnily. He had heard Wilson speak of a sister a few times, but he never paid much attention to it.
Never actually met her, assuming she was some female copy of Wilson. You took a seat close to the whiteboard. Unsure if they were assigned seats. What seemed like waiting for eternity, was about a few moments as three young doctors walked in. The first one that entered, slowed, frowning at your presence. – “Uhm…” – he looked around to see if he was in the right place. The girl behind him, pushed him inside.
A third one entering. You got up to greet them. Holding your hand out to them as House walked in. – “Minions, Wilson nr. 2.” – he flapped out before you could utter a word. It made you smile sheepishly at the blonde man to whom you were holding your hand out. – “Dr. Y/n Wilson.” – you corrected House. – “Dr. Chase.” – he introduced himself, shaking your hand. You shook the other two their hands as well.
“Wilson as in Wilson, Wilson?” – Chase questioned. – “How many Wilson’s do you know?” – Foreman responded with a deep sigh. – “He’s my brother.” – you informed them. House cleared his throat loud to interrupt what was forming. His three pupils sat down as you followed. Cameron opened a casefile, introducing the patient as House stopped her. – “Let Dr. Wilson present the case.” – House wanted, the hint of mockery clear in his tone.
“House, she just got here.” – Dr. Chase countered. House tapped his cane impatiently. – “It’s alright. Dr. Cameron if you please.” – you asked gesturing at the case file. She closed it, sliding it over the table to you. You opened the file, quickly scanning out words as your mind was already working. – “Female, age 45. Symptoms of dry mouth, irritation to the mouth and over excessive use of toothpaste.” – you read out loud.
“And?” – House bothered you further, testing you. Wanting to know if you were wasting his time. Cause if he had actually paid attention to it, he would’ve done anything in his power to prevent you from joining. The last thing he needed was some naïve, pretty girl joining his team. Thinking playing doctor was cute.
“Excessive use of toothpaste?” – Dr. Chase repeated with a confused and disgusted furrow. – “Maybe it’s a mouth fungus?” – Dr. Cameron pitched in. – “Uh-uh!” – House warned her to keep her mouth shut. – “I’m asking Wilson’s sister.” – he made eye contact with you, letting the tip of his cane bounce up and down on the ground.
You tried not to give him a snarky glance as you didn’t like how high on his tower he sat. How full of himself he was and clearly making fun of you. You quickly looked into the file, before closing it. – “We should take swaps of the interior of the mouth, saliva and tongue and test it for fungus, bacteria and nutrition deficiencies.” – you said, getting up.
“Already giving up?” – House teased. – “No.” – you looked sturdy back at him. – “I’m going to see my patient.” – you made clear to him. You left the room as the three others followed. Standing in the hallway, you needed a moment to see where you needed to head. Luckily Dr. Chase came to your aid. – “The rooms are over there.” – he whispered to you. You nodded, making your way over.
House left the room as well, curious to see what you’d do. You cleaned your hands before entering the patients room. – “Good morning Mrs. Johnson.” – you spoke. – “My name is Dr. Y/n Wilson. I am here to understand your symptoms more.” – you continued. The woman nodded, letting her gaze go towards the four people standing more to the background. – “These are my colleagues and supervisor Dr. House. They are here to observe me as I’ve been stationed here recently. You mustn’t pay much attention to it.” – you reassured her.
The woman nodded once more. – “Now Mrs. Johnson could you explain more how you started noticing the discomfort.” – you asked, taking a stool to come and sit with her. You listened patiently to her story, seeking for details in it. Completely forgetting about the others. – “She’s good.” – Dr. Chase whispered to Foreman as you had a good approach with the patient. You asked if you could take a swap as she let you.
You thanked her, returning to your colleagues. – “Test this for burning mouth syndrome.” – you told them, pushing the sample to Dr. Cameron. House chuckled loudly. – “Is that so?” – he wasn’t even trying to hide his mockery. You took the test from Dr. Cameron once more, shoving it in his hands. – “You test it then if you are so eager to prove me wrong.”
“Let me know when you get the results.” – you told Dr. Cameron, taking your leave. You needed out as you couldn’t stand the mockery. The belittling you as if you were just a pretty face with no brains. Dr. Chase and Dr. Foreman had to withheld a chuckle at Dr. House. House pushed the sample in Dr. Cameron’s hands once more. – “Let me know the results.” – he said bothered at her.
Limping out of the room. Not returning to the meeting room, you went up to visit your brother. You found him in his desk. – “Y/n?” – he said surprised, getting up. – “Tell me House didn’t pushed you out?”- he wanted to know. You shook your head as he sighed relieved. You let yourself drop into the sofa in his office.
“Did he gave you a hard time?” – James asked. You shrugged your shoulders. – “I’m not letting him belittle me.” – you answered. – “That’s my sister.” – James cheered briefly making you furrow your brows. – “Is that why you put me on his team? Because you knew I could handle him?” - James gave you a shy glance back, revealing the truth. It made you roll your eyes.
After a while the results were in. Dr. Cameron having paged Dr. House. He entered the lab with a big smile. – “And?” – he wanted to know. Dr. Cameron turned towards him. – “You are not going to like it… Dr. Wilson was right…”- she let out. House’s smile immediately dropped. – “Let me see!” – he insisted on.
Dr. Cameron made room so he could see the results. His face showed frustration that you were right. So not a naïve pretty face after all. He shoved the papers against Dr. Cameron’s chest, walking out. Dr. Cameron paged you that the results were in. You met up with her in the hallway. She handed you the file with the lab results in it.
“You were right Dr. Wilson. It’s burning mouth syndrome.” – Dr. Cameron informed you. – “House?” – you asked intrigued. – “Ready to eat his own shoe.” – she replied back. – “Good.” – you answered with a smile. Cameron followed you back into the patients room where you explained the results to her in a calming and understandable way.
The two of you returned to the meeting room. You noticed House sitting in his office thoughtfully. Legs up to his desk, cane on his lap as he rubbed his lips thoughtfully. You excused yourself from Dr. Cameron, entering his office. He looked up to you walking in. – “Come to gloat?” – he let out grumpily. – “No.” – you responded tugging your hands in the doctors coat’s pockets.
“I know you needed to test me.” – you told him. – “I would’ve done the same if I were you.” – you finished. House scoffed soft. – “I am looking forward to work with you more Dr. House.” – you slightly bowed your head in respect. Already turning on your heel to leave his office. – “You did well.” – you heard him say.
Making you turn back with a smirk. – “Is that a compliment Dr. House?” – you teased him. – “Savour it for you only get one.” – he teased back. – “I’ll hold you onto it.” – you winked back at him before leaving his office. House watched you meet up with your brother in the hallway, going downstairs together.
For nearly two months now had you been active in House’s team. Showing him time and time again that you were more than just a pretty face or just Wilson’s sister. Something becoming more clear and clear to House.
Lately he caught himself stare frequently in your direction. Almost waking up daily with eagerness to get to work. Normally he would dread it. The knowledge you had surprised him each day. More and more he started to trust you and rely on you. He found himself making up excuses to stay longer by your side.
Completely deranged he was. Unable to think straight or keep you out of his head. Even at night you started haunting his dreams. Not sure if he wanted you cast out of his dreams. Whatever it was, it stuck around.
House was walking the hallway. In search for you. He knew you were with a patient, yet it didn’t stop him from looking for you. He had seen something in the person’s behaviour file and just wanted to check up on you. You were with a patient letting him know what you were about to do before handling it. The patient seemed calm as you looked over your shoulder to the nurse with you in the room.
She nodded back as you knew she had a keen eye on him. Having read the behaviour aspects in his file as well. Short temper and not afraid of physical harm. – “Sir, I am going to take a sample.” – you reminded him once more before lowering your hand on him. Your hand was near his arm as it happened all so quickly. Before you knew it, he had a hold of your wrist.
The sensors bleeping loud as his heart rate was spiking up. Gasping loud, you tried freeing your wrist as he kept a firm grip around it. The nurse moved over to you but before she could reach you, intercepted another person the incident. House barged into the room, hurrying his way over to you.
Taking his cane to give the man a respectful slap on his wrist to release his grip. The man’s jaw was clenched with fury as he worked himself up. House took you by your wrist, pulling you free. Holding you by your arms, he pulled you back, further away from the bed. The machinery bleeping loud as his heart rate kept spiking up. The man swaying his arms around.
“Call help!” – House shouted at the nurse. The nurse nodded, spurting out. House turned you towards him, tilting your chin up to him. – “Are you alright Y/n?” – he asked. You nodded half in shock. Holding your wrist with your hand. Seeing how red it was from the tight grip.
The nurse returned with a few others. Grabbing the man as House walked over to him. Taking an injection from one of the nurses. They restrained him as House stuck the injection in him to calm him down. It took effect within moments. He watched the monitor as his heart rate started to settle down. – “Keep an eye on him.” – he ordered, returning to you.
He led you out of the room. – “Are you sure you are alright Y/n?” – he asked. – “I’ll be okay.” – you breathed out, still trembling a bit. House guided you towards one of the examination rooms; closing the door behind him. He gestured for you to sit. – “House… I’m fine…” – you let him know. House started searching the cabinets, returning to you.
You had hopped onto the table as he sat down on a rolling stool. He gestured for you to give your wrist to him. – “House I swear I’m fine.” – you told him. House wouldn’t listen to it, taking your hand carefully. He started applying a soothing crème on your wrist to ease the burning feeling from the friction. You swallowed your pride in, winching a bit at the pain.
House then started wrapping a bandage around your wrist to maintain the crème on your skin. – “Thank you.” – you said shyly. – “You… you didn’t have to do that.” – you continued. – “I did.” – House replied. He threw the rest of the bandage roll onto the small desk. He lowered his hand on yours, turning his gaze to you.
“I shouldn’t have made you go in there alone.” – he spoke. – “I wasn’t alone.” – you answered with half a smile. House giving you a soft glare for missing the point. – “Do you think I interfere like that for any Wilson?” – he went on. You smiled mischievous back at him. – “Aww I’m sure James would appreciate it.” – you told him.
House sighed deep. – “I was talking about you.” – he let out. You leaned in, resting a hand against his cheek. – “I know.” – you whispered to him. House’s gaze met up with yours, holding you there. He leaned in closer as you did the same. Lips touching to no surprise.
You took a hold of his neck as you kissed him deeper. House returning the kiss with eagerness. – “I like you Y/n.” – House said to you having released his lips from you. – “I know Gregory.”- you whispered back before kissing him once more.

Giving House MD characters a rock/shell/shiny thing
Tumblr media
Cameron- confused; Doesn’t get it but very polite
4/10
Foreman- probs thinks you’re a crazy person, why would you give him a random rock? He won’t say it but he’s beyond confused
1/10
Thirteen- probably gets it, happy; might give one in return.
13/10 (couldn’t resist :P)
Chase- undecided if he gets it, either way he’s very happy. Thinks it’s the sweetest bc he’s a sweetheart. Probs keeps it in his locker or smth. Getting a gift from you makes him feel very loved,
20/10
Kutner- Dorky boy, gets it and is SO happy, probs gives you a similar item in return
100000/10
Taub- doesn’t get it at all. He’s polite about it though
3/10
Wilson- he probably doesn’t get it, let’s be real. But he’s happy to have it and keeps it like on his desk or in his home. He probably gets all flustered and blush when you give it to him, smiles whenever he looks at it
9/10
Cuddy- you know when parents get really shitty art from their kids, but act like it’s the best thing in the world? That.
6/10
House- obvious route would be just to say he scoffs and acts like it’s stupid, then on the inside/ in private, be very happy about it
However
I’m convinced this man had like a geology or dinosaur phase or smth as a kid, bc who doesn’t? (Or maybe it’s a neurodivergent thing? Idk doesn’t matter) So I think he would genuinely really like it
He’d be like Jack Sparrow and the jar of dirt
House: “…is the rock going to help?”
Y/n: “If you don’t want it, give it back.”
House: “No!”
He probs keeps it in his apartment, and is genuinely flattered that you gave him something. He’s affection starved as hell, as we can figure, so I think he just gets a little happy every time he sees it.
15/10

Concussions, Greg House
Tumblr media
Word count: 1.7k~
Warnings: mentions of vomit, concussion, hospital rooms.
Arguing with your boss is one of the worst things you can do with your boss. For my boyfriend of almost a year, it was nothing new. Plus, in Greg's mind, there were worse things one could do with their time. Like argue with me, his girlfriend - that was much worse than arguing with his boss, according to him.
Still, that didn't mean that he could always get away with arguing with his boss. Especially around Christmas time when the hours were needed and he just so happened to be an asshole. Anyone could figure out why I was upset when he told me he was unable to get Christmas Day off. He just had to be rude to Cuddy the day before he asked, and because of it, we both have to suffer.
Despite him promising to call me almost every hour, I still felt lonely when it came to Christmas Day. I woke up without the love of my life beside me, and I'll be alone until he gets home around nine in the evening. When Cuddy told him she couldn't give up the hours, he was especially rude in response, therefore earning more hours to work that day.
Right now it's around eleven in the morning, and even though I've put on a Christmas movie and made myself hot cocoa, I still feel sad. I have no one to spend this great day with, and it sucks. Maybe a nice walk outside will help me feel better. It's cold and snowing, but I can always wear a heavy coat and boots - no biggie. Besides, I may even see a pair of cardinals flying through the white sky like a holiday card straight from the hallmark section, and it would make the weather all the worth it.
Slipping on my fuzzy black boots that Greg got me at the beginning of our relationship, I throw on my fleece coat before heading out front. The lights strung on everyone's apartment are lit up, and the people that have their Christmas trees in front of their windows have them lit up as well. The green and red bulbs are a nice contrast to the white snow that fills every window sill and yard, making it look almost like a floating blanket on all the little segments of grass. It's such a beautiful sight to see, but it makes me miss Greg even more. He's always pessimistic, but even he would be happy with the looks of everything.
Stepping off the steps and onto the pavement, I take a few steps forward, only to look up and see a pair of cardinals flying above me just like I wanted. I marvel at the beautiful red shade of the male next to the equally beautiful olive colored female floating next to it. When they find their mates, a pair of cardinals can never be separated as they are mated for life. The idea of such a thing makes you smile, but the idea of finding your own true mate? It feels nearly impossible.
I seem to find the cardinals very distracting as the next thing I see is the pure white sky above me as I feel myself slip, my arms and legs flailing to grab onto something as I fall backward. However, they don't, and I end up landing on my back with my head colliding against the ice I slipped on. Everything happens so fast that I barely recognize the pain rushing to my cranium or mine and Greg's elderly neighbor rushing toward me as concerned words flow out of her mouth. Despite wanting to respond, I can't, and instead, my eyes close as I feel myself slip into a vast sea on unconsciousness.
It isn't until I finally wake up once again that I register the pounding pain in the back of my head. It nearly makes my eyes roll back, but before I can even do that, I quickly lean over the edge of the surface I'm lying on and feel the contents of my stomach empty. I soon feel a pair of hands gently pull my hair back as I do so, my eyes clearing up enough to watch a nurse’s legs in purple scrubs quickly push a trash can in front of me to finish vomiting into. However, it doesn't take long before I’m done and I almost fall back onto the slightly stiff surface I'm on, a damp cloth wiping at my mouth once I do so. Flashing my eyes throughout the room, I recognize the bright fluorescent lights above me as ones used in a hospital room and the surface I'm on is one of the uncomfortable beds in a hospital room. Great.
Turning my eyes over to the source of the hand holding the wet cloth, I find it to be the man I've been wanting to see all morning, a worried look etched onto his face. I want to fling myself in his arms and hug him, but my almost drunken haze prohibits me from doing so. Instead, I languidly smile and tiredly reach a hand up toward him, to which he takes in his own hand with a small smile.
"How in the hell," he begins, his voice taking over the almost stuffy noise in my ears. Gently running his thumb against the back of my hand, he takes the damp rag away from my face before tossing it onto the lid of the biohazard bin a few feet away. "Did you get yourself a grade two concussion just by walking outside?"
"I didn't mean to," I defend myself, trying to sit up a little, despite the deep pounding in my head. Greg helps me, but not before pushing my head back against the pillows to angle my face upward. "I just wanted to go for a small walk, and see some cardinals maybe! I did, by the way, and man, were they beautiful."
"You seem to be doing better than I thought," Greg points out, hovering over me to look into my eyes with a flash light. "No confusion or seemingly dizziness," he lists off. "You just seem fatigued and dazed, which is to be expected. The good news is you don't have memory loss."
"Who are you again?" I quickly throw at him, earning a downcast face with a frown. I immediately laugh at his reaction while reaching up to take his face in my hands, but his hands catch mine before they're even halfway there. I really am tired.
"I would say you're also having some psychological disturbances, but it's nothing different from usual," Greg jokes back, making me laugh again. At this, he smiles, but continues on. "How bad is your head pain?"
"Compared to the constant headache you give me, it's nothing," I tell him, once again, earning an eye roll in response. I know he's wanting to throw playful insults back at me, but he's trying to keep the moment as serious as he can. Don't get me wrong, I understand how severe my situation is, but I just can't help but take the chance to banter with Greg like he usually does with me.
With a sigh, Greg sits back in the armchair beside my hospital bed before taking something out of his pocket. "You just had to hit your head so you could end up in the hospital with me today," Greg chides, holding the rectangular box in his hand as he stares at it. "I guess irony plays a huge part in life's never ending game of... slipping and falling on ice!"
With his sarcastic comment, Greg pushes the box toward me as I smile at him, my hand reaching out to take the box from him. "Open it," Greg tells me, scooting his chair beside me to be closer to my bed. Doing as he says, I shakily unwrap the green ribbon from the box before slightly struggling to open it, my hands trembling from being asleep for so long.
With the maroon velvet box now open, I gasp upon seeing the diamond tennis bracelet shining back at me with the bright hospital room lights causing each beautiful crystal to sparkle like a thousand pieces of glitter. "Oh my God, Greg," I mutter, my eyes flashing over to him beside me. "This is... beyond gorgeous."
Smiling, Greg lifts one of his hands to brush my hair away from my face before using the other to take the bracelet out of the box and secure it around my wrist. "Merry Christmas," He tells me, leaning over to kiss my cheek. "I thought you would like this."
"I-I love it, Greg," I tell him, looking over at him with a frown. "But I don't have my gift for you! They're at the apartment and-and I wanted to give it to you so bad-"
Greg cuts me off from my rambling, an almost flabbergasted expression washing over his face. "Are you kidding?" He sarcastically asks me, reaching over to take my now diamond covered hand in his. "You ending up in the hospital with me is possibly the best thing you could do today, as morbid as it sounds," Crinkling my face at him with amusement, I shake my head at his demented words as he continues on. "This means I don't have to do what Cuddy says and stay in here with you and watch I Love Lucy."
Just as he says this, Greg takes the remote from the side table and turns the TV on, flipping through the channels before finding the show mentioned seconds earlier. Glancing away from our intertwined hands, I smile at Greg as he turns to look back at me as well. "I love you, Greg," I tell him, receiving a smile back before he leans over once more and presses a kiss to my cheek.
Sitting back in his chair, Greg keeps my hand in his as we both look over to the TV and watch as Lucy banters with Ricky just as Greg and I did moments ago. At this, I smile and ignore the pain in my head as I enjoy the positives of today despite being in a hospital. My loving partner beside me, a beautiful diamond bracelet on my wrist, and I Love Lucy reruns on the TV in front of us. As long as I'm with Greg, it doesn't matter where I spend my Christmas - just as long as he's by my side, I'll be fine.

House x reader - content
Tumblr media
Hi please could I request a House x blind reader ? Where it's just some fluff maybe If not that's okay thank you :) - Anon💜
Sitting on the chair, you had your eyes closed as you listened to everything going on around you.
“Are they sleeping?” Someone whispered.
“I don’t know, wake them up?”
It went quiet for a minute.
“Who is it?” The first person asked.
You didn’t need to be able to see what they were all staring at you, two of them.
You had heard them come in at the same time, their steps slightly different, but there was two of them, a man and a woman.
And if you were right, you would guess it would be Wilson and Cuddy.
House complained a lot, and they were the main two people that he complained to you about, and about you calling him Greg. For some reason he just didn’t want you to say his name he preferred to be called by his last name.
You carried on laying there, listening to them debate whether or not to wake you up, and who you were and why you were there.
You heard the door open and close again, and the familiar sound of his cane on the floor.
“You have a visitor.” Cuddy said.
House looked at you, and he shrugged a little bit, walking over to his desk he grabbed some papers and stood next to you.
“Aren’t you going to wake them up?” Wilson asked.
“Why? They’re not sleeping.”
“Really? They haven’t said a word since we came in.” Cuddy said.
“I heard you.” You replied.
You took your feet of the desk and you opened your eyes, and you reached out, tapping the desk until you found what you were looking for and you grabbed house’s shirt, giving it a small tug.
“You’re sitting in the only chair.”
“Get another chair then idiot.”
He rolled his eyes and dragged another chair and sat down next to you.
“So, why are you here?”
“Because I was bored.”
House hummed a little, leaning back in his chair.
“How’d your appointment go?”
You shrugged a little, leaning back in your chair to stare up at the ceiling.
“Not going to magically regain my sight if that’s what you mean.”
“Right, introductions House?” Wilson asked.
“Right, fine. This is Cuddy and Wilson.”
“I gathered.”
“This is (Y/N).”
“And they are…?” Cuddy asked.
“I don’t know, human?”
You snickered a little and looked in the direction you heard his voice.
“Bold of you to assume I’m that.”
“Oh there’s two of them…” Wilson whispered.
House looking at you, and he titled his head a little bit.
Pulling a small torch out of his pocket, and held your face in his hand and shone it in your eyes and you just sat there waiting for him to finish whatever he was doing.
“How did you appointment go?” He asked.
You sighed a little.
“Well it can’t exactly get any worse can it? I’ve already lost all sight.”
“Right that’s not what I was asking and you know it. What did the doctor say?”
“That I’m blind?”
“We’re really going to do this?”
You grinned a little bit and he shoved your chair to the side and went on his computer.
“What’re you doing house?” Cuddy asked.
“Seeing what (Y/N)s doctor said about their eyes.”
“What’s wrong with their eyes?” Wilson asked.
“I have said numerous times they don’t work, do your ears work?”
“Alright.” Cuddy warned.
Resting back in your chair, you rested your hands on your stomach.
“He says your pupil reflex’s are getting worse.”
“Just as well I don’t need them.”
“Is he running tests?”
“Don’t think so.”
House looked at you.
“He should. God how can people be so incompetent is beyond me, Wilson book a CT for (Y/N).”
“What are you hoping to find?” Wilson asked.
House said nothing and he waved his hand in dismissal.
“We’re talking about this later.” Cuddy said.
“No we’re not, goodbye.”
It went quiet for a moment and you heard the two others leave.
“What is it?” You asked quietly.
“You’re going to need surgery on your left eye.”
“Why?”
“To.. remove it…”
You took a small breath and slowly nodded your head and house sighed.
He stood up and grabbed your hand, so you stood up as well and let him take you to where he wanted to go.
He sat down and tugged you, carefully guiding you down, and you sat on the couch with him, and he pulled your back against his chest.
Wrapped an arm around your waist, he wrapped the around around your collarbone and over your shoulders.
You rested your head under his.
“I had a feeling it would happen.”
“You knew.” He said.
“Yeah. It was a warning I was given years ago, it could happen. I’ve grown to accept it as a possibility.”
House nodded his head, and he kissed your head.
“Greg?”
“That’s weird don’t say that.”
“It’s your name shut up.”
He snickered a little and you slapped his arm.
“I love you.”
“Disgusting.”
You rolled your eyes and slapped his arm again.
House grinned to himself and resting his chin on your head.
“Yeah I guess I love you too.”
“You’re an asshole.”
“I know.”
You rolled your eyes and closed them, placing your hands on his arm, and he took a deep breath, shuffling to get a little more comfortable.
“I’m taking a nap.”
“Alright so am I.”
You sniffled down as well, and you wrapped his arms around properly and the both of you drifted to sleep on the couch happy and content

Gregory House x fem!reader (platonic?)
Warnings : none
Summary : Greg finds out something interesting about you.
Authors note : Not the biggest fan of this, could've been better, but the idea wont leave my head so I wrote it.
𓈒⟡₊⋆∘ 𓈒⟡₊⋆∘ 𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘𓈒⟡₊⋆∘
Today was particularly rough, your coffee machine broke down so you had to settle for the crappy coffee in the breakroom, the cafeteria had ran out of your favourite chips, a patient puked on you so you had to change your clothes and by god's grace, all the anti-vaxxers in Jersey decided to come visit you today. Sitting down you let out a sigh, your feet hurt and your head felt like it was being pounded by an anvil closing your eyes in hopes for a fifteen minute shuteye, slowly drowning out the noises of the busy hospital. Suddenly your pager rings, the shrill noise cutting through the room, letting out a sharp exhale you take the pager in your hands and look at it, it’s a page from the NICU, nothing uncommon.
Standing up you rush out of the room, reaching the NICU, the nurse fills you on the patient, a seven month premature baby suffering a sudden attack of patent ductus arteriosus, as the baby flailed around trying to take breaths that he couldn’t catch, you’re held a scalpel your gloved hand tightening around the handle of it, bringing the sharp edge scalpel to the baby’s chest, just as you were about to make a cut the baby stopped breathing. Taking a deep breath you set the scalpel down “time of death?” “Twelve twenty am.” “I’ll go tell the parents.” Removing your gloves you walk out of the NICU towards the maternity ward, walking into the patient’s mother’s room “are you Miss Hennock?” “Yeah, what happened, is he okay?” Biting your lip, fighting back tears, “your son has passed on twelve twenty am.”
“What? How?”
“He suffered from patent ductus arteriosus”
“no no no, that can't be possible.”
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
The mother broke down in tears. Her screams could be heard by the whole floor, walking out of the maternity ward, the screams still playing in your mind, stopping by a pillar. You rest your back on the pillar, closing your eyes as tears threaten to spill, hugging your body for comfort. After a few seconds of solitude you hear the familiar tapping of a cane, opening your eyes you see Greg House walking, as he reaches you he stops and stares, staring back at him “what?”
With no response he goes back to walking to wherever he was going.
After fifteen minutes of peace the screams of someone interrupt, sighing you decide to go up to the roof. Just as you were climbing the stairs, you reach the breakroom, opening your locker you take you alcohol flask, walking to the roof you sit down on the edge, taking in a deep breath, you open your flask and take a big sip after 15 minutes and a half empty flask you hear the door open, looking back you see House limping towards you.
“Why're you here?”
“You looked like you wanted to die down there, was hoping you didn’t.”
“Awwww, you care about me.”
“Considering you’re slurring, I would like to consider you’ve finished that flask.”
“No, there’s still some.” You shake the flask.
“ So what happened down there?”
“Oh, nothing important.”
“You were on the verge of tears, someone definitely died.”
“Why do you sound so sure?”
“The last time I saw you cry was when one of your patients had died.” he says affirmatively
“Maybe my mom died?”
“Your mom’s been dead for seven years”
“How'd you know?”
“I like snooping, so what's so special today?”
“Nothing just a NICU accident.”
“That's why you're crying?”
“You know what House, lemme tell you a story, sit down” you pat the spot next to you “your crippled leg must hurt.”
As he sat down, “So what's this story about?”
“About ten years ago, in my third year of medical school, I met a man with the prettiest grey eyes, like the clouds on a rainy day.”
“Where is this going?”
“Sush, so we get to talking and a few months into dating he proposes to me and I say yes” “Want some?” you push the flask towards him.
“Yes” he takes the flask from you.
“So anyways, we get married and a few months later I get pregnant, we were so happy”
“You were married?”
“A few months into the pregnancy I start noticing he had started to become distant with me, coming home later than usual, leaving early, talking about that one new nurse that started working at the hospital, so one day i decide to visit him in the hospital, going around the hospital I couldn’t find him so I start to go back when I hear voices in a broom closet and when i open it, I see him and the new nurse he kept talking about, eating eachothers faces.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
He notices tears welling in your eyes.
With a shaky voice and a tight chest you continue, “so we had an argument and then he apologised and I thought everything would go back to normal, but it did not, we started to fight more he started to act weird and one day we have a huge argument like plate smashing and yelling, the argument gets so big he threatens to kill himself. We’re standing in the kitchen, he's holding a knife to his neck, i'm standing a few feet away from and we’re yelling and suddenly he cuts his neck, blood spraying everywhere the stress from the event puts me into early labour, I somehow manage to call 911 and then everything was a blur.”
“You are going to regret this in the morning.”
“The next thing I remember is holding my dead baby in my arms.”
He was rendered speechless.
“That's why I was crying, do you miss Stacy?”
Taken aback by the sudden question, he looks at you “yeah, why?”
“I miss him a lot, I loved him and he had to love me, somewhere sometime between the cheating and lying.”
“Stop” he gets up “you’re drunk.”
You smile at him, “I'm sad.”
“Aren’t we all sad?”

Prompt - ‘Run as fast as you can.’
Tumblr media
When you had first met House hadn’t known what to think of the man. You hadn’t caught his attention, less vocal than some of the others competing for a fellowship under him but he had caught yours. He was so self-assured, the way he walked into a room and immediately started talking, not needing to see if he had everyone’s attention because he already knew he did. The games he played, putting you all against each other so obviously, eliminating people from any chance of a fellowship mid-sentence.
You hadn’t known if he was a good man, it was hard to determine when you were in such a competitive environment where the man only wanted the best of the best but you had known he was a good doctor, sure he might not have given a damn about the patient but he was always determined to get a diagnosis.
You had caught his attention two weeks into the fight for a fellowship. It had been an impossible case, not even he could figure it out, no matter how long he spent bouncing ideas back and forth just like the ball he threw against the wall. It was driving him crazy and even worse was that none of his potential fellows could figure it out either, how was he meant to create another perfect team when this lot couldn’t come up with anything?
That was the day he noticed you. Of course he’d seen you before but you hadn’t done anything to catch his attention. He’d seen the way you’d open your mouth to say something only to close it, he’d seen you stick to the back of the group. He hadn’t said anything though, sure you were pretty and any other time he would’ve been all over you but it wasn’t worth his time if you weren’t going to be around long enough to make it fun.
He stood at the front of the room, the remaining 26 hopefuls sat in seats around the room, all silently contemplating the case. House’s gaze shifted around the room, seeing nothing but stumped and defeated looks until he got to you.
You were the only one in the room, himself included, who didn’t look disappointed, in fact you were sitting up straight in your seat whereas everyone else had slumped in theirs. Your eyebrows were knitted together, not in a frown but in a way that told House your thoughts were running wild.
“You, number 7, come with me.” House said suddenly, watching as you startled in your seat and looked at him wide eyed as every gaze in the room turned to you. “Now.”
House didn’t wait after that, turning on his heels and leaving the room, hearing your footsteps hurrying behind him. He didn’t say anything in the elevator, staying silent until you both stood looking into the patient's room.
“What’s your diagnosis then, number 7?” He finally asked and your head shot from the patient to stare at House but he kept his eyes forward, waiting for you to speak.
“I don’t-”
“Oh don’t do that.” House interrupted, turning to glare at you. “Every single person in that room looked devastated. They couldn’t figure this out but you, no you have a diagnosis. You wanna work for me? Speak up, even if it’s idiotic it gives us something new to work with. So, go, what’s your theory?”
You took a shaky breath, letting his words roll around your head for a moment before nodding and turning back to look at the patient.
“Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.” You said, watching House out of the corner of your eye to see his eyebrows knit together. “Her husband said nearly a year ago she became clumsy, people with CJD lose balance and coordination, they see double or they have blind spots. He said it became worse a few months ago and this causes loss of brain function and mobility, her brain is forgetting how to do the things she’s been doing her whole life. Add that with going from a highly respected professor to not knowing basic answers to the questions we’ve asked, it makes sense.” You defended your theory, shifting to look back at House as he stayed silent, showing no signs of how he felt about your answer. “I know it’s a rare disease but-”
“You’re right.” House said as he cut you off again and you could do nothing but stare at him in disbelief. “It makes sense. Have a biopsy done to confirm.”
And that was that. House walked away leaving you staring at him before you were able to snap yourself back to reality and do as he requested.
House had been surprised by you. He had honestly expected that you wouldn’t have made it much further into this little game he had made of gaining a fellowship but now, now he suspected you’d already won and he was more than happy to focus his attention on you now.
After that day House watched as you grew, confident in yourself now and offering theories and diagnosis’. You blushed and stammered under his newly given attention but refused to give into the man’s request of dinner or skipping the meal and heading straight to the bedroom.
It wasn’t that you weren’t interested in him, you were but you refused to let anything happen, needing to know that if you were awarded a fellowship it would be because you deserved it not because you were sleeping with the man giving them out.
Once you were in though you held out for only a few weeks before you found yourself sat opposite the doctor in a surprisingly nice restaurant, House seemingly making an effort with his appearance and it was easy to let yourself get swept up with him and even easier to let your guard down.
It didn’t matter that he was your boss, it didn’t matter that he was years older than you, all you cared about was how he made you feel.
And so just like that you found yourself getting wrapped up in House, whether it be going out together for food after work or falling into bed with him, suddenly your whole life was consumed by House.
“So you and House, huh?” Cameron asked as you sat down at one of the tables in the cafeteria, taking a seat opposite you with her own lunch.
“What about it?” You asked, frowning slightly at her.
You hadn’t spent much time with House’s old fellows, only Foreman who had been brought back whilst you were fighting for a spot. From what you heard Cameron and House used to have a thing but you hadn’t pried, not sure how serious it ever got or if it had just been a fling.
“You like him?” She asked, ignoring your question and you tried to figure out what her plan was. “I’m not here to cause trouble, me and House, there was never anything there.”
“There was something.” You told her and watched as she sighed.
“I had a crush on him. I realised it was a bad idea.” She told you after a moment to think about it.
“Why?”
“You want my advice?” She asked you, sitting up in her seat and continuing without giving you a chance to answer. “When it comes to House, just run. Run as fast as you can because that man is incapable of putting somebody else’s feelings before himself. This won’t end the way you want it to and you’ll be left alone, heartbroken and angry. You’ll have to see him at work and you’ll hate it.”
“Thanks for the advice but just because it ended badly for you doesn’t mean it will for me.” You said, standing from your seat and leaving the cafeteria.
Cuddy was the next person to warn you away from him. She had managed to catch you just as you were heading towards your car and told you to be careful, told you that you were a good doctor and she’d hate to see House ruin that.
You weren’t so sure what to say so just smiled politely and excused yourself, brushing off her warning just as you had Cameron’s.
You refused to think much more about the two of them as you pulled up to House’s and the man let you in, immediately attaching his lips to yours and pushing all thoughts and warnings out of your head.
It stayed good for a while, or maybe it had never been good and you were just so blinded by your feelings for him that you couldn’t see how bad it was.
When things eventually took a turn you tried so hard to blame it on something else, convinced yourself that it was just the pain in his leg that made his mood shift more often than you were used to.
“We had plans.” You said into the phone, already sitting in the restaurant House had said he would meet you at after his meeting with Cuddy.
“This is important.” House told you, his tone even and not showing much concern for the fact that he was standing you up. “It’s just dinner.”
“Yeah, yeah it’s just dinner.” You nodded even as your heart sank.
The next time he called you it was like it was a different man, so apologetic and full of promises to take you out again, to make it up to you. You had smiled and written his earlier behaviour off as Cuddy frustrating him but it started happening more and more to the point you dreaded answering his calls, not sure which version of House was going to be waiting on the other side.
You were more than used to getting stood up at this point, House differed between having excuses for not showing up or just brushing you off when you finally did manage to catch him.
You could feel yourself becoming drained, dealing with House’s mood swings was starting to take its toll on you. The nights you spent with him where just as confusing as everything else, some days, usually the days he had seen you withdrawing, he showered you in affection, kissed every inch of your body and made you feel so loved, other days he shut you out, glared and snapped at you until you left and somehow always managed to make you feel like it was your fault.
Even during work, House made you feel useless, no matter how right your diagnosis was, no matter how much the others stuck up for you it was like you couldn’t do anything. You couldn’t remember how many times you’d walked away and cried silently in the toilets or gone home only to cry yourself to sleep.
You hated that you felt so bad about yourself, you hated that you were doing everything you could to please this man and he always made you feel like you were the problem. You hated that you hadn’t taken Cameron and Cuddy’s warnings when they were given, hated that you were so wrapped up in how good House made you feel that you had let him treat you like you were nothing just to soak up the small bits of whatever this sick, twisted thing he had convinced you was love was.
House liked his puzzles, he liked his games and he liked answers. He liked knowing how far he could push you and still have you running back to him, still having you thinking he could do no wrong.
You couldn’t do it anymore. You couldn’t keep running away from the hospital in tears, you couldn’t keep playing his games with their ever changing rules that you couldn’t understand.
“You can’t leave, we can work this out.” House told you, a soft hurt look on his face.
You’d usually fall for it, usually shake your head like you were being foolish and fall into his arms, savour the day or two of the House you had fallen for before starting the cycle all over again when he eventually turned cruel.
Now that you had made the decision to leave you couldn’t believe how you had missed how bad everything about your relationship with him had been. How had you been so blind?
“That won’t work anymore. Whatever game you’ve been playing with me is done, go find some other girl who’s too naive, who wants to believe there’s good in people to mess with because I’m done.” You told him, feeling a spike of pride for finally standing up to him.
“What game? I have no idea what you’re talking about.” House sighed, leaning against the desk. “Look, I’m sorry, I know things have been rough but I’ll be better. I promise.”
You’d believed that the first time. And the second. And third and fourth time.
You wouldn’t fall for it again.
“Bye House.” You said softly.
“Don’t do this.” He pleaded with you but you ignored him and turned to walk out of his office.
On the way down to Cuddy’s office you bumped into Cameron and because word spread like wildfire in the hospital she gave you a sad smile.
“I hate to say it but I told you so.” Cameron said and you couldn’t help but laugh, a small laugh that bubbled into a slightly maniacal one.
“I promise to listen to you next time.” You swore and Cameron laughed back, squeezing your shoulder gently.
“If you ever need anything…” Cameron told you and you nodded gratefully, smiling back at her before her pager alerted her she was needed and you said goodbye, heading into Cuddy’s office.
Cuddy was sympathetic, she’d been waiting months for this meeting, knowing that at some point House was going to ruin it and send one of their best fellows running out the door.
“If you decide to come back I’ll find you a spot somewhere, somewhere far away from House.” Cuddy told you and you smiled at her, thankful for your time at the hospital and hoping one day you would take her up on her offer. “It’s a shame to lose you.”
“Thank you for everything.” You told her softly before standing and shaking the hand she reached out towards you.
“You’re really just gonna leave? Like this meant nothing to you?” House asked as you left the clinic, walking alongside you towards the exit.
“I loved you, House, and all I wanted was for you to love me back but all you ever did was mess with me. You never loved me, hell you never even cared about me!” You told him, yanking your arm from him when he tried to stop you.
“Oh please, I missed a few dates and suddenly I’m the bad guy.” House rolled his eyes and there he went again, trying to make you the problem.
“House, I’m done. I’m done trying to get you to love me, I’m done playing your games, to shifting my whole life to revolve around you. I’m done feeling like I’m not good enough. Tell everyone it’s me who doesn't understand you, who betrayed you, say whatever you want but I’m done with you.” You told him, refusing to let your eyes tear up, knowing House would see it and jump on it.
You took a deep breath, behind him Cuddy was making her way out of the clinic, watching you and House carefully but you just shook your head because you didn’t need her to intervene.
You weren’t lying when you told House you were done so you ignored whatever retort he had and turned away from him, walking out of the door and finally let the tears fall, sitting in your car until you were able to breathe properly before making your way home with tears running down your cheeks.

A/N: Don’t do drugs.
“You dosed me,” said Wilson, barging into the apartment, “again!”
“Yes,” said House.
“So you admit it? Just like that?” asked Wilson.
“Yes, but just because I know I am right!”
“What’s going on,” you asked, closing the book you had been reading.
Just moments ago, the apartment was completely quiet. You were huddled with a blanket on the couch, reading a book, while House was making dinner.
“House could’ve killed me, that’s what’s going on!” screamed Wilson.
“No it’s not,” replied House, “I’ve put him on uppers to prove that I am right and I am. Just wait and see if he yawns Y/N.”
“I won’t be yawning,” replied Wilson, “because you are wrong and you drugged me for nothing. You could’ve given me a heart attack.”
You looked at them confused. It felt like you were only getting half of the story and the other half was getting lost in medical lingo. Yet you couldn’t help but smile. You knew that whatever House had done, it was meticulously planned and Wilson wouldn’t actually get harmed. Seeing them argue like this, over something as simple as yawning, was a sign that the rest of the week was probably going to be filled with pranks and revenge. Those always proved to be funny and put a smile on your face.
“Well, a heart attack is not going to kill you. You were in a hospital,” said House.
“You tried to kill me!”
“I gave you speed!”
You giggled, hiding your face with your hand. Giving Wilson speed was definitely not cool and wrong on House’s part. However, getting to see Wilson on speed might just turn out to be the funniest thing.
“See, even Y/N agrees with me,” said House pointing at you giggling.
“I’m not…” you started.
“They’re not agreeing with you just because they find this funny, “said Wilson, cutting you off, “and it’s not funny Y/N, speed is really dangerous.”
He looked dead serious saying that, which made you laugh even more.
“Y/N, it’s not funny,” Wilson went on, “he put me on speed just to prove that I was on anti-depressants. Which I’m not!”
That last part was aimed at House.
“Then how do you explain the Lexapro box in the bathroom trash?”
The smile faded from your face.
“I don’t!” Wilson said exasperated.
He slumped down on the couch almost crushing your feet.
“We’ve been through this. I don’t care if you’re taking them!” said House.
“And I’ve told you, it’s personal. I’m not on anti-depressants House. Just stop.”
You could feel the tone of the conversation changing. You had to say something before something bad happens.
“Those are mine,” you said looking up at House.
“Y/N, you don’t have to lie for Wilson,” he said.
“Y/N,” said Wilson worried.
“Now come on, they’re not actually serious,” said House.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” asked Wilson.
He turned to face you on the couch.
“Y/N doesn’t need anti-depressants,” said House, “they’re not depressed, right?”
If Wilson looked worried, you couldn’t tell how House was feeling. Worst-case scenario, it was pity. And you didn’t want pity. That’s why you hadn’t told them yet. Worry was understandable, normal even but pity, pity was dreadful.
“Oh, come on!” House said, breaking the silence. He chuckled a little before going on. “That’s a good one. Making me think you both are depressed just to make me admit I am. It won’t work because I am not depressed.”
You looked at him in disbelief. How could he not believe you? Wilson scheming against him was believable, plausible, natural even, but you? You didn’t have the time nor the heart to play with anyone’s feelings like that, especially House’s.
“I got them about a week ago,” you went on, hoping House would understand you were joking, “I was going to tell you eventually, I just… I didn’t know how and…”
This was exactly why you hadn’t said anything. You couldn’t find the right words. Not without completely breaking down. And you didn’t want to break down. Not in front of Wilson.
“Y/N,” said Wilson, “it’s okay. You don’t have to tell us anything if you don’t want to. But we’re there for you if you need anything.”
He reached out trying to squeeze your knee but you got up before he could do anything. You felt the tears rushing to your eyes and didn’t want him to see you like that. You turned away from both of them, trying to calm yourself by taking deep breaths.
“I’m fine,” you finally said, “I’m not weak, I’ll get through this.”
“Y/N, no one said you were weak,” Wilson said, coming up behind you.
He placed his hands on your shoulders before continuing. His voice was so low, only you could hear him.
“The fact that you sought help shows you’re actually strong. You don’t have to tell me anything but I will be there whenever you feel ready.”
He wrapped his arms around you hugging you from behind.
“Yes I am a doctor,” he went on, “but mostly I am your friend. I just want you to know that.”
You freed yourself from his grip only to turn around and hug him tighter.
“Thank you,” you whispered, “side effects had been a bitch honestly, but we can talk about it later. Maybe. I just want to go back to laughing at you two.”
In all this time, House hadn’t said a thing. You didn’t dare look at his face either, but you knew that he would come around and be there for you in due time. His silence didn’t mean he didn’t care, only that he had his own way of showing he cared. Later he would come to you and talk but right now, he still needed to process what he just learned.
“So you think it’s funny that House dosed me?” asked Wilson, breaking free from your hug.
“Really,” you said, “Actually, it’s hilarious!”
“Well I’ll have you know it’s the second time he does this,” he added.
“Well, it’s not as funny then,” you said, hoping to get a reaction from House.
“See?” Wilson asked House.
“I think he’s mad because he got proven wrong,” you said.
“I think I’m mad because no one is enjoying how funny having Wilson on speed is!” he finally said.
You burst out laughing.
“It is true that it’s the first time I’m actually witnessing this,” you said, “on second thoughts this is still hilarious.”
You walked up to House, visibly siding with him.
“Oh, that’s just great. Now both of you are on the same side. What will I ever do,” Wilson said, once again slumping down on the couch.
Another burst of laughter ensued.
“I’m done,” he said.
You were about to sit on the couch as well when House held you back.
“You’re stronger than you want to believe,” said House in your ear, “you know that?”
“I’m starting to get that,” you said.
You dragged him to the couch where you picked up your book again. House turned on the TV promptly turning up the volume just to annoy Wilson.

Career day

GIF not mine, comment, like and reblog!
Masterlist
You were in the middle of a meeting when your assistant knocked on the door and gave you a note that your daughter’s kindergarten teacher was on the phone. Checking the time, you frowned, it was exactly pick-up time, meaning your husband still had half an hour to be considered late and if she was sick it was close enough for a parent to arrive that she wouldn’t call to update you about it.
You apologized to the present in the room and exited to take the call.
Thanking her before hanging up, you turned to your assistant, “Could you please clear the rest of my schedule? I have to pick up my daughter from the hospital after this meeting.”
Nodding, “Is she alright?”
“She is, her father won’t be for long.”
Stepping out of the elevator you marched straight to the glass-walled office. You saw your daughter sitting in the conference room, at the head of the table with the team surrounding her and the department head making a drink in the kitchenette, his back facing you. She was her dad’s spitting image, brunette, with light blue eyes and, a gorgeous bright smile, as opposed to him though, her smile rarely left her face, whereas he had a permanent scowl.
“Mommy!” The young girl called excitedly which made House turn sharply and grimace.
You entered the office and embraced your daughter who ran to you. You kissed her temple and told her to go wait in the adjacent office.
You stood up and crossed your arms, “You didn’t think her teacher would call me when a strange man comes to pick her up?”
He sat down at the table next to the blond doctor, “Chase isn’t a stranger. Wilson was busy so I couldn’t ask him.”
“Smartass, you’re her father, you are the one supposed to pick her up!”
Sighing, you shook your head before you went to your daughter. You grabbed her backpack and took her hand in yours. You were about to leave when he called after you, “That’s it?”
You turned to him, “I’m not in the mood to argue in front of your team.” You stated before you walked out.
You drove home with your kid in the back seat, you looked in the rearview mirror and smiled at your daughter.
She was staring out the window humming some tune from a cartoon her dad showed and you disapproved.
You were in the midst of making dinner when you heard the front door open and your daughter run to greet her father. You smiled slightly but lowered your head to hide it.
House walked into the kitchen, and opened the fridge to grab a bottle of water before he leaned against the doorway, “Are you still mad at me?”
You put your hand in the air to indicate a little bit before turning to take the food out of the oven and taking it to the table.
You both sat down in your usual seats, you and him across each other and your daughter between you, sitting at the head of the table.
She gave a piece of paper to House, who paused eating and asked “What is this?” With a mouthful.
“I have a career day tomorrow, I want you to come.”
Swallowing hard, he put down his fork and sat back in his chair.
“Don’t you want your mom to come?”
She shook her head animatedly, “Mommy’s job is boooring.” She replied stressing the o and making you chuckle.
He drew in a long breath, “No, now eat your dinner.” He stated as a matter of fact and continued eating.
She lowered her head before mumbling she was full and rushing to her bedroom.
“Greg!”
Ignoring you, he picked up the plates and took them to the sink.
You stood up and followed him, putting your hands on your hips as you watched him place the plates in the dishwasher.
He turned to face you and leaned against the counter.
You pointed your finger at him, “You need to start acting like her parent. You don’t pick her up, you spend endless hours at work. I love you and I love being married to you, but if you don’t start being a father to that girl, we’re done.” You warned and left him standing staring after you.
You entered your daughter’s room and sat down on the edge of her bed, stroking her hair and kissing her temple.
“Maybe Uncle James would like to come to career day, he’s a doctor too. I can call him now, he’d be so honored if you ask him. ”
She sniffed and shook her head, “I’m tired.”
Nodding, you kissed her forehead softly and wished her good night.
You shut the door quietly behind you, looking towards the living room, you saw him sitting on the couch, legs up on the table and a glass of bourbon in his hand. You sat down to him, took his glass, and downed it before dropping your head back on the backrest.
“She doesn’t need the kids picking on her for having a crippled dad.”
You turned your head to look at him, “She needs her dad to act like he gives a damn.”
He took the empty glass from you and picked the bottle from the coffee table and poured another finger.
“She doesn’t care about your leg, she idolizes you.“
And it was true, your daughter was convinced that House could do nothing wrong, he was her hero, ever since she was a baby, she was a daddy’s girl.
“She shouldn’t.” He whispered and drank his drink.
You sat up and rubbed his back, “But she does. So please, don’t screw up.”
You leaned to kiss the corner of his lips before you went to bed, he puckered his lips to kiss you back but didn’t turn his head, distracted by his thoughts.
The next morning you got up to make a quick breakfast and wake your daughter up, your husband stayed in bed which wasn’t unusual for him since he never went to work before ten am.
You helped her pick her clothes and get ready, brushed her hair, and braided it.
“I called Uncle James, he’s so thrilled.”
She sighed and nodded, making your heart clench.
You walked together to the kitchen to see House eating a bowl of cereal, wearing a suit.
You raised your eyebrows in surprise at seeing him awake but didn’t get the opportunity to question it before a knock was heard on the door.
House beckoned the little girl toward him with a quick hand movement while you went to open the door.
Wilson hugged you as he entered, he walked straight to the kitchen in search of the girl he considered a niece.
House pushed his bowl with the half-eaten cereal to his daughter and handed her the spoon before he stood up to greet his friend.
“Good Wilson, you’re right on time to drive us.”
“Us?”
Holding onto his thigh, House limped a few steps towards the two of you, “You’re taking the car, you don’t like it when I drive her on the bike and I definitely can’t walk with her to school; bum leg.” he stated and pointed to his leg as if you didn’t know about it.
Wilson sighed and moved to take a seat next to your daughter. You crossed your arms across your chest, eyebrows raised and lips in a straight line.
He closed the gap between you, kissed your cheek, and murmured in your ear, “Relax, I’m not going to screw this up.”
You grasped his bicep before he got the chance to pull back.
“Wilson stays in the class with you and makes sure you don’t get into trouble.”
He nodded, “Deal.”
Smiling you kissed his lips before you called, “Daddy is doing career day!”
Cheering, she jumped off the chair and ran to hug him.
You looked at Wilson who was smiling at the sight before looking at you, you signaled with your pointer and middle fingers in a V turned at you then at House in a watch him gesture.
He dropped his smile and nodded.
Upon reaching the classroom, the kids took their seats, House and Wilson sat in the back with the rest of the parents.
House leaned to whisper to his friend, “This is your last chance to steal my identity.”
“You don’t think your daughter will notice?”
The teacher called his name and with a frown at Wilson, he made his way to the front of the class.
Tapping his cane anxiously before centering it in front of his body, “I’m Dr. Gregory House. I’m the head of the diagnostic department at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital and most proudly,” he paused his introduction to look fondly at his daughter, “I’m this ankle biter’s dad.”

Like, the crux of House and Wilson’s relationship for Wilson is that Wilson is somewhat preforming kindness and empathy, and around House he doesn’t have to. He can be fucked up and a little weird, and play increasingly destructive pranks. He can fight with house, and punch him in the face and ask him to dinner a second later and he doesn’t have to preform normality because there is genuinely nothing he can do to ruin this friendship.
And the crux of House and Wilson’s relationship for House is that Wilson see past House’s bs and sees the sliver kindness in House’s heart, the one house keeps hidden away deep under layers of sarcasm and insults. It’s not all the time, as house still gets defensive when Wilson says something that hits a “sore spot”, but House is still kinder with Wilson than he is with anyone else, he shares his fears with Wilson, and makes sacrifices to make him happy. He doesn’t have to preform his “asshole persona” because Wilson’s the only safe person to be venerable with.
This is why they need each other, because they have to preform with everyone else, and they always end up back together because we all need someone we can be authentic with, and it’s why they’re so lonely without each other.

Surprise, Surprise, Greg House
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1.1k~
Surprising Greg at work is always fun. Most of the time, he's messing around with the items on his desk until I walk in which ultimately causes him to perk up right away. I'm always happy to see him, and going by the smile that pops up on his face when he first sees me, Greg is happy to see me too. Plus, it always helps that we've been together for several years too.
"House, you have a guest," Wilson states, quickly popping his head into the doorway of Greg's office before popping right back out. Watching him walk back to the elevators, I wave at Wilson before opening Greg's door.
"Surprising," I hear Greg mindlessly mutter before I walk in. Once he sees me, he lightly smiles and changes his words. "Not surprising," He corrects himself, sitting up in his chair. "But pleasant."
"I brought you lunch," I tell him, gesturing to the bag in my hand with a smile. Placing the paper bag on his desk, I sit down in the chair across from him with his desk separating us. "That way you don't have to steal anyone else's."
"You know me so well," Greg chides, placing the magazine in his hands down before opening the bag of food. Taking all of the contents out of the bag reveals two sandwiches and two bags of chips with a bottled drink for each one. "Funny," He notes. "These are the things I would have stolen from Wilson."
Laughing at his sad, yet true comment, I separate everything out and place a Reuben sandwich in front of each of us, Greg already digging into one of the yellow bags of potato chips. "I'm glad I got to come see you today," I confess, the sight of the food making me feel a little sick. "I have some... great news to share."
"Oh, really?" Greg asks, looking up at me. I nod, smiling as he pushes his chair back a little. "Well, then why don't you come over here and tell me all about it?" He suggests with that ever so sly smirk.
Knowing what that means, I gently roll my eyes and stand from my chair before walking over to Greg and sitting on his lap. Instantly, he wraps his arms around me and holds me close, leaning up a little to kiss my lips. This is one of the very few ways Greg shows his love. He always says it's because he gets to hold me closer to him, but I think it's just because I'm sitting on his lap.
"You know," he begins his sentence, nibbling at my neck. "With one simple movement, you instantly have me at your will. How odd is that?" Greg questions me, his voice sultry and low. Smiling at him, I lightly giggle before pushing him away enough so he can look straight at me.
"Greg, I need to tell you something," I state, my voice a bit serious. Even though I'm trying to keep a straight voice without letting my excitement show through, I keep my smile in hopes of him not getting worried. I hope this news finds him well, and it doesn't make him mad or angry... I don't know what I would do if he left me because of it.
Leaning back in his swivel chair to look at me, he continues smiling while running his hand up and down my side. "Go on," he encourages me, his blue eyes staring into mine. "I'm listening, my sweet."
My cheeks slightly blush at the endearment before I look away, sudden nervousness hitting me. "I'm, uh, I'm..." Just as I begin to speak, I choke up before sighing. "I'm pregnant, Greg," I fully answer him, having the guts to look him straight in the eye as I do so.
He takes a moment to listen to me, only to fully realize what I'm saying within seconds. In shock, he stares at me with wide eyes before breaking out into a nervous chuckle. "You're serious, right?" He asks, making my eyebrows furrow. My reaction causes him to become worried as his smile drops. "Please don't be joking," Greg begs, placing his hands on my arms.
His words slightly... befuddle me. Is the cold and emotionless House actually excited about me being pregnant? For him to question me to make sure I'm not joking makes me... I don't know what it makes me actually.
Does Greg want a child? I know we didnt plan this little one, but there's no going back now. I mean, Greg is quite a few years older than me and I would've never thought he'd want a kid this late in life, but Gregory House is Gregory House. If there's one thing that signifies Gregory House, it's that he's weird and unusual, and he never conforms to what is socially acceptable.
"No, I'm not joking, Greg," I tell him, placing his hands on my stomach. "There's a little baby right here," With Greg staring up at me with big eyes and an equally big smile, tears quickly make their way to my eyes. "You're going to be a father," I whisper, leaning forward and placing my forehead against his.
A few moments of silence pass before Greg grins and wraps his arms tighter around me. In a quick turn of events, he stands up with our feet planted on the ground and his arms still around me, a giggle falling from my lips as he does so. Before I know it, Greg is moving my shirt up to place his hands on my barely swollen tummy, resting them there as I hug him to me as well. “Thank you,” He murmurs, smiling before connecting our lips in another kiss. At the same time, he moves his hands to my waist to hold me there, his hold reflecting the passion behind our kiss.
