Country Romps Prompt List
Tumblr media
Please check the updated character list on my pinned post to see who I am writing for before submitting a prompt!
Also read the rules and do not forget to put the entire prompt into your ask!
Well, we were sittin' on a truck bed When it started rainin', she said, "I don't mind"
Gettin' down on one knee on her mama's porch Just prayin' she don't say, "No"
Moonlight on the back seat, Breeze through the wires, Springsteen on the speakers, Girl, I'm on fire
Got her dancin' in a white sundress
There's a rumor going 'round about me and you
You weren't really tryin', next thing you know There's a test on the counter,
'Cause a girl like her on a night like this Make a man wanna stay right where he is
Or the road's too muddy to drive
And your left hand's gettin' used to that ring
You're wearin' scrubs and a funny white hat And the doctor's sayin', "How you doin' there, dad?"
I'm racing through the desert Thinking I can catch her But losing ground in this Chevrolet
Next thing I know I had my blue jeans hangin' on a tree limb
So tell me why we even trying to deny this feeling I feel it, don't you feel it too?
You get to know your wife again And you're more in love than you've ever been
Well, it was four in the mornin' when the storm quit stormin'
We didn't have a towel, didn't have dry clothes She was smilin' and sayin', "Hold me, I'm cold"
We made a blanket out of that sundress
You swear that you're stayin' single, next thing you know You meet a girl at a bar
Cold walk in December Warming up your hands
Blanket down in the backyard
Ask me if I'm staying and I say that I'm sleeping on the floor
I wonder if she sat there stirring vodka with a straw Was she counting down the seconds, or maybe having second thoughts?
I awoke to kitchen smoke, you dancin' like God's moved in you before
Sweet hearts kiss in the dark
I can do whatever you want me to do, baby
He's just a boy in working boots It didn't work, so you cut him loose
Remember jumping in the pool when we was fully clothed in August
The wine always affects you in beautiful kind ways
Grab me by the hands Just as callused as I am Say you're proud
I didn't know if we were over, or just on the rocks
'Cause lately I've been needing someone to remind me I'm worth more than just an evening
I met somebody and he's got blue eyes, He opens the door and he don't make me cry
And you've got flames all in your eyes As they reflect the sparkler And you say we'll never die
You were nappin' on my arms on a Sunday afternoon
He's an asshole from back home
Girl, you just don't get it I'd fall right back with one slip
He'd take you home but he's too drunk to drive
Then he meets one that's hurting too While he's kissing her, he's missing you
We buried him out in the wind 'neath the West Coast stars
Go on and put on that dress that all the bad boys like
Well, look in my eyes, I don't wan' to hide I've been waiting for you all damn night
Mama, I'm callin', I've got some news, Don't ya tell daddy, he'll blow a fuse
And oh, they said he hit that guardrail at half past three

Heyo! It's been a hot minute since I visited this place and I'm starting fresh, so I figured I'd kick things off with a proper introduction post.
My name is Brittany M. Willows (she/her, "Bri" for short). I'm a self-published author and self-taught digital artist from rural Ontario, Canada. Science fiction, fantasy, and post-apocalyptic stories are my jam, and I tend to write some amalgamation of the three. I also stream art and games occasionally over on my Twitch channel and am currently working as a comic colorist/script writer.
Here's a quick rundown of my projects! I'll give them their own intro posts later on.
Works and WIPs to my Name
The Calypsis Project (2013) & TCP II Rebirth (2016): Known collectively as the Echo-Alpha Duology, this is my debut series! It's a science fiction/space opera that tells of an unlikely alliance of humans and lizard-like aliens in their mission to thwart a conspiracy that could see their whole galaxy upended. However, as it's currently slated for a rewrite, book #1 has been taken off the shelves haha
Bloody Spade (2021) & Bleeding Heart (2023): The Cardplay Duology is an anime-inspired YA urban fantasy about a cat-eared boy touched by dark magic and a softhearted girl with the power to cleanse it. It's queernormative, features a slow-burn romantic subplot, has plenty of hurt/comfort goodness, and a chaotic found family to boot.
p.s, Bloody Spade has an audiobook edition coming out on August 2nd! You can listen to a sample here.
The Howling Dark: This is the gay space werewolf brainworm that sprung from a dream a couple years back and has only been growing since. Set on an Earth-like planet recovering from the aftermath of a radioactive war, it follows fugitive werewolf brothers Sylvain and Illia on their search for a safe haven. It's currently in planning stages!
Bleakhouse: A more recent seedling of an idea that also originated from a dream! This gritty steampunk tale will tell the story of a mechanical girl bursting with soul, and a boy who's more machine than he looks. This has no real plot yet, but the vibes are good lmao.
Favourite Anime

And that'll do it for now. I'm excited to be back and will hopefully become more active in the future (especially as the bird app is slowly imploding on itself). I'm mainly a reblogger but will be tagging all my original posts appropriately so they can be found!

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY (2022)
Starring Naomi Ackie, Stanley Tucci, Nafessa Williams, Tamara Tunie, Ashton Sanders, Clarke Peters, Bria Danielle Singleton, Daniel Washington, Kris Sidberry, Marilyn Swick, Naheem Garcia, Greg Roman, Alana Monteiro, Heidi Garza, Tanner Beard, Jennifer Ellis, JaQuan Malik Jones, Alexa Renée, Courtney Caruso, Dave Heard, Rob Lévesque and Lance A. Williams.
Screenplay by  Anthony McCarten.
Directed by Kasi Lemmons.
Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. 146 minutes. Rated PG-13.
Whitney Houston had a fascinating, exciting, tragic, complex life. There is a whole lot of stuff that went on in her life – both the highs and the lows – probably more than can be explored in a movie. Even a relatively long two-and-a-half-hour movie.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody rushes through the years; the accomplishments, the dramas, the scandals, the complications and the early death of arguably the defining singing voice of her generation, giving the film the feel of a greatest hits medley. However, many of those hits are pretty terrific, so it’s often very entertaining. You just never feel like you’re getting the whole song.
Interestingly, I Wanna Dance With Somebody seems to revolve around a single performance of Houston’s – a live medley of “I Loves You Porgy” “And I’m Telling You That I’m Not Going” and “I Have Nothing” which she did on the 1994 American Music Awards. The film starts and ends on the performance, and also mentions it several times throughout the run of the film as proof that Houston was the greatest voice of her time.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve never heard of this particular performance, and while it was stunningly performed (the film uses Houston’s vocals over the lip syncing by star Naomi Ackie) I’m not sure it was the most memorable performance in Houston’s career, not by a long shot.
And that is what I Wanna Dance With Somebody does best – reminding us of Houston’s music and performances, all with newly remixed and powerful sound.
Actress Ackie does a terrific job in portraying the different eras of Houston’s life – recreating performances, capturing her cadences and attitudes (although she doesn’t exactly look like Houston) and capturing her highs and lows.
It falls into a pretty standard music biofilm structure – the rise and fall of a terrific performer, from obscurity to the top of the world, touching on many milestones and showing the temptations of great fame.
As an officially sanctioned biofilm, I Wanna Dance With Somebody slightly pulls its punches on some of the darker aspects of her life. For example, they toy with the longtime gossip that Houston was gay or bi, and possibly involved with her longtime best friend Robin (Nafessa Williams), teasing the possibility of a relationship – even showing them cohabitation, kissing and Robin getting jealous – before pulling away from the possibility quickly and pretty definitively, coyly suggesting that maybe they were mainly just besties after all.
They also have ex-husband Bobby Brown played in a cartoonishly stupid way, almost feeling like a Chris Rock parody of the guy. Now, no one has ever claimed that Bobby Brown was a deep, thoughtful guy, but I have to believe that he was not the gangsta Casanova loser they play him off as. After all, even the film Whitney acknowledges that the drug addiction that ended up taking her life was not Brown’s fault and he got too much blame for it. (Although, in fairness, he certainly didn’t help…)
Also, super producer Clive Davis (as played by Stanley Tucci) is played out as an exceedingly sweet, magnanimous, supportive force in Whitney’s life. Maybe that is even true, but it’s hard to believe that in a relationship that lasted for well over three decades that there wasn’t some acrimony between them ever. However, the super-nice Clive may just be explained by the fact that Davis is one of the producers of the film.
Also, much like Davis, occasionally the film tends to reduce the diva to her sales figures. In the end credits chyron talking about her life, career and death, they make a point to say how she was the only woman to ever to be diamond-certified three times (her 1985 debut album, 1987’s Whitney and the 1992 The Bodyguard soundtrack). Now, I’m a music nerd, so I know what diamond-certified means (ten million albums sold, also known as ten-times platinum), but I’m pretty sure that stat will go right over the head of most casual fans. More to the point, is it really fair to reduce Houston’s career to units sold, or even awards she won, which the end credit chyron also lists faithfully?
Whitney Houston was much more complicated than that. And while I Wanna Dance With Somebody tries its best to capture the essence of Whitney, it comes off a bit more like the Cliff Notes version of her life. It hits on most of the highlights and lowlights, but it doesn’t explore most of them deeply enough. Perhaps this would have worked better as a limited series for TV or streaming, where the story and characters would have room to breathe and get more in depth.
But, man, what a soundtrack. Just hearing these songs again in full cinema sound is definitely worth the price of a ticket.

The Many Crusades of Adam Reposa
Tumblr media
Months after being raided, lawyer continues to taunt the courts, the cops, and Ken Paxton
I doubt the SWAT van had even been refueled before Adam Reposa began scheming on how to turn getting raided into an opportunity for new freedom-pushing antics.
The brazen attorney – whose lawyering sometimes resembles villainous wrestler promo – had been running an unlicensed cannabis dispensary out of an East Austin home before officers representing three different agencies stormed in for a morning raid on Jan. 22, seizing roughly 100 pounds of purported marijuana, plus edibles and cash.
As reported in the first installment of this serialized saga (see “Notorious Lawyer Adam Reposa Gets Raided For Running an Illegal Dispensary,” March 15), charges have yet to be filed against Reposa or the two associates present for the raid, and District Attorney José Garza was granted a motion to be recused from prosecuting the case. A D.A. official, on background, later told The Austin Chronic that the recusal had been done to avoid conflicts of interest with Reposa being a practicing defense attorney and someone who office staff knows personally.
Tumblr media
No other court has since filed charges against Reposa.
You’d assume that someone who’d just had flash-bang grenades thrown into their home would quietly check themselves out of the game, not fly into fuck-you mode.
But since Adam Reposa already firmly exists in fuck-you mode, it was time to lean in.
Tumblr media
His ATX Budtenders business – which he described in a recent legal filing as a “Washington D.C. style gifting dispensary” – would soon begin selling a line of Mr. Chinga T-shirts printed with a variety of imaginatively illustrated caricatures.
Among them are an unshapely Ken Paxton (“Ken Sucks Ton”) with pockets full of bribe money, Greg Abbott depicted as a Nazi scientist, and a rendering of Deputy Sheriff Mario Sotelo – who was the affiant of the search warrant – as Nintendo’s Mario, on a ghost ship with bags marked “Property of Adam Reposa.”
And what would any public spite campaign be without a theme song?
In a parody of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” Reposa manages a surprisingly solid Lemmy Kilmister impression, replacing the titular phrase with “Ounce of Weed.”
The song taunts both TCSO officers, who he calls “Plastic badge federales,” and the courts, snarling:
“I see it in your style / Let’s have a jury trial.”
The motive of the aforementioned antics are obvious:
Reposa, a freedom junkie born on the Fourth of July, is taking aim at people and institutions he views as infringing on Americans’ fundamental rights: life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and smoking blunts.
Meanwhile, other extracurricular crusades can blur the lines between righteousness and antagonism.
Outside the Travis County D.A.’s Office in late May, Reposa looked like an attorney from the shoulders down: cuffed dress shirt, suspenders, pleated trousers.
Up top, he wore the shaggy mane of a Weedwolf character, while holding a picket sign that says:
“No Way José!!! Do Your Job!”
Three costumed associates held signs reading: “No Child Should Have to Look at Olde Man-Dyck.”
Reposa’s admitted animosity toward Austin’s courts, which have twice jailed him on contempt charges, has inspired this side quest, spotlighting the bias and “white entitlement” that he claims is ingrained in the local municipal culture.
On that day he was proclaiming that a prominent Austin defense attorney is being undercharged after allegedly masturbating in front of children and their mother on a walking trail.
Tumblr media
Indeed, an arrest affidavit obtained by the Chronicle reports that Christopher Gunter, who actually served as Travis County’s assistant D.A. in the Eighties, was arrested on April 27 in the Mills Pond park on an indecent exposure charge.
The police filing includes this passage:
“The victim was informed by her 14-year-old child that he knew Christopher was masturbating and that his, Christopher, penis was fully erect because they just talked about sex education in school.”
Reposa was stoking outrage over Gunter’s alleged incident being classified as indecent exposure, a misdemeanor, with no bond conditions restricting his contact with children.
Reposa views it as a clear felony case because kids were involved.
As proof, he’s produced an affidavit of a June 23 arrest involving a separate individual also masturbating near a local running trail, also in the vicinity of a 14-year-old, that resulted in felony charges of indecency with a child.
“The question is: Is it a threat to our democracy that a high-profile lawyer gets to jerk off in front of kids without the same liability that this Black dude gets?” Reposa challenges. “And if you ask that to these West Austin people, they’re going to look at you like you’re speaking Mandarin fuckin’ Chinese. That’s what white entitlement is.”
Tumblr media
Attorney Gene Anthes, a law partner of Christopher Gunter who’s representing him on this matter, says Gunter is innocent and characterizes the arrest as “clearly a case of misidentification on the part of the complaining witness.”
Anthes believes he and Gunter proved as much to the case detective by taking him to the scene of the alleged incident last week and showing him where Gunter had been at the time.
Asked if he considers Gunter and Reposa rivals, Anthes said: “You know, goddammit, Adam is an excellent litigator, but I think the thing that makes him an excellent litigator is his mental instability. So I wouldn’t say they’re rivals, I’d say we’re all tired of Adam’s shenanigans.”
Our D.A. source explained that the D.A.’s Office has no input on initial charging decisions – which, in this case, were made by TCSO officers.
As a misdemeanor, the case goes to the county court and, for it to be elevated to a felony, it would need to be presented to a grand jury.
Speaking of legal disagreements, Ken Paxton’s lawsuit against the city of Austin, aiming to reverse a voter-approved ordinance that decriminalized marijuana possession locally, saw its earliest in-person court hearing on June 10 in Travis County District Court.
Prior to the hearing, a representative for the city’s litigation department confirmed that both the city of Austin and local progressive organizers Ground Game Texas have filed motions to dismiss the attorney general’s suit.
On June 4, Adam Reposa joined the fray, filing his own motion to dismiss.
While the other two motions read with measured legalese and contain vast case law references, Reposa’s filing comes in hot, calling Ken Paxton a “Nazi party throwback,” comparing Texas’ handling of cannabis laws to a “new era of Juneteenth,” and declaring the dangers of marijuana to be a myth created by government actors, while making a constitutional claim on the 14th Amendment.
“Americans have a fundamental right to be free from government lies as a promise of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” Reposa’s motion reads. “Adam Reposa, having been lied on by government, robbed by government, and unafraid of government, represents the fundamental nature of American freedom and comes to ask this Court as an American and a Texan to find with total clarity once and for all that the facts are clear, Marijuana is not dangerous, and to characterize marijuana as such in your search warrant affidavit violates the protections guaranteed by the Texas Constitution and the U.S. Constitution, and is rank player hating.”
Then in a legendary move that seems daring even by his standards, Reposa included the ATX Budtenders current menu on the legal filing against the attorney general:
“21 strains from $80 an ounce to $240 an ounce
Gummies up to 200 mg of CDB
Pens vapes and all that
Concentrated Chinga, Mr. Chinga, Chinga Dinga Bringa Thinga to Ringa and Singa
Pre-rolls 5 pack $20.”

Put It In A Bowl And Mix It Up Prompt List!
Tumblr media
Please check the updated character list on my pinned post to see who I am writing for before submitting a prompt!
Also read the rules and do not forget to put the entire prompt into your ask!
On the darker nights, you get me through
My body pressed against your body, babe, I'm hittin' places that nobody can
Somethin' 'bout rough hands on a hard-workin' man
And I'm still fantasizin' 'bout what I wanna do to you
Like a thief you stole my heart without a sound
Make the drive if you want me tonight
Now you're sayin' that you wish you would've cleaned up But you know I don't care about that
Wondering when you'll come back home
Girl, I meant what I said When I said, "I do"
Take it off, you want it off'Cause I know what you're feeling It's okay, girl, I feel it too
You were singing in the same key as me
When you're leanin' in and kissin' me And I can't stop kissin' you back
Though time to time my mind may run to you
Slowly steaming up the windows
We got all night, girl, we can take it slowly
Baby, we can slip right out of that barroom door
Can't take my eyes off you, baby
And I remember rainy nights in late September
Let me touch you where you like it
You should be with him, I can't compete
But what he'll never have is the love I have for you
Well, I've been wondering when you'll call my phone
So guide me down the darkest road you ever saw
And when I take you home, don't worry, babe
We'll get tattoos, and we'll trash hotel rooms
Let me show you just how much I want ya
I'm tellin' you to lock the door
Deceive and fuck me
And I found you like a melody
Oh, love it when I tear off your clothes
It hurts like hell to say "I hope you find someone new"
My skin on your skin, again and again
Those tangled up mornings lost in paradise
Hold tight for this ride, We don't need no protection
Sunlight, it's on her skin
Burn it up like neon lights
You're laying on my forearm like heaven sent you
Baby, we can take our own show on the road
And I spent a whole lot of nights missing her
Close your eyes, lay yourself beside me
You're pullin' me closer, your head on my shoulder
Thinkin' 'bout those sunsets that bled into jean jacket nights
And I'll know the day that she heads my way 'Cause her love, it sets me free
Gettin' dirty looks from people at the bar
When we talk about how our future wedding would go
I will leave you broken and in ruins
Am I a fool for running back to you each night?
Here's to the hey I think we need to talk
Knowing you, you'd set the whole damn house on fire
She's somewhere West wearing a cotton dress
Here's to the one that my family thought Was gonna make me drop to one knee
A little dirty dancin'
I know we both know what were doing is wrong But tonight I know you'll end up in my room
I should call it off right where we're standing
I'd be lovin' you as usual, tellin' you you're beautiful
I know the story, baby, I want a confession
Running around like you don't even wanna be you
Give me a half an hour for a shave and a shower And I'll be outside your house
Wondering if this last goodbye is really our last
I can't lie, you're all I see and it's the death of me

🎵🔥 Vamos falar sobre um álbum incrível que marcou a história do Suicide Silence: "You Can't Stop Me"!
Em resumo, "You Can't Stop Me" é uma obra-prima do deathcore que mostra a força, a superação e o talento do Suicide Silence. 🎶🔥💥

4 July, TEX @ BOS, 6-2, loss
I am trying not to read too much into a red state team coming to a blue state and beating them on the Fourth of July. I feel reading too much into that will make me despair of democracy and so forth. Also, this is a baseball blog, and not even a very good one at that. Becoming not a very good political activism blog alongside that seems like a bad idea. But, and this is important, fuck Greg Abbott and his hypocritical bullshit fascism.
Anyway. We lost to the Rangers which, when the Rangers were really good, happened a lot. Then they were bad for awhile and we could kind of beat up on them. Now we don’t really even have half a starting rotation and they can kind of beat up on us, national holiday with awful uniforms or not. The Ort Cloud was tagged with the loss, rightfully so managing to give up two runs within two outs. Garza wasn’t much better. As I said, we don’t really have a starting rotation at the moment and the hodge podge/throw spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks manner of putting together nine innings worth of outs seems to offer more throwing spaghetti over the plate and watching the other team pound the shit out of it.
However, as much as I’d like to put the blame on the horrendous state of the rotation, the lineup continues to go from baffling to bewildering. We had as many hits as the Rangers. 10 a piece. We also had as many errors. 1 a piece. But they got six runs and we got two. Are there bright sides to that?
Jarren Duran continued to hit, going two-for-three and scoring the first run in the first inning thanks to Dugie knocking him in.
Masa Yoshida got a couple of hits and scored a run too.
Justin Turner got a couple of hits and knocked in a run.
We were still sort of competitive with the patchwork pitching. We just need the bats to display the urgency and competitiveness they showed in Toronto. Especially against Texas. Fuck those guys they’re fucking owned by fucking G W Bush for chrissakes. Fuck that fucking guy.
If we win the next two we’ll win the series and I don’t have to think about Texas for awhile.

Liga MX vs MLS, a never-ending and inevitable comparison
Liga MX vs MLS, a never-ending and inevitable comparison
We compare the past and the present mostly with the intention of seeking a better future. In North American soccer we often compare between Mexico and the United States, about how this rivalry affects the future of their national teams and which league is better, Liga MX or MLS.To get more news about Liga MX México, you can visit futbol-mx.com official website.
Atlanta United traveled to Mexico for a 13-day preseason in Guadalajara, where the team will play three scrimmages against Mexican opposition, Celaya FC on Sunday, Feb. 6, and Chivas de Guadalajara and Tepatitlán FC on Sunday, Feb. 13. The club was greeted Wednesday morning by the US Consul General in Guadalajara, Eliza Al-Laham, and executives from Club Atlas, where the team will train these next two weeks, and during a press conference with club President Darren Eales, VP and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra, and Head Coach Gonzalo Pineda, the comparison between Liga MX and MLS was inevitable.
“It is very difficult to talk about a league that I no longer follow so closely and that is why I cannot compare how things are being handled in Mexican soccer, but what I can say is that MLS is a league that has a plan in the short and long term that is giving it immediate results,” said Pineda during the press conference. "I don't dare make a direct comparison because I haven't followed the insides of Mexican soccer for a long time, and [in Mexico] maybe you feel the same way because you might not fully know what MLS is about, so it's difficult to make such a comparison.”
Since Atlanta United entered MLS in 2017, it has always had a close connection to Mexican soccer, especially in recent years. Atlanta has had Mexicans players like Jürgen Damm and Érick 'Cubo' Torres on its roster, as well as others who have played for Liga MX clubs like Édgar Castillo and Greg Garza. Likewise, other MLS clubs have brought in Mexican stars to their ranks, such as Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández, Carlos Vela, Rodolfo Pizarro, and Carlos Salcedo, among others.
However, in Mexico it seems as if MLS is still not as attractive as Liga MX and is yet to break into the mainstream soccer fan.
“I don't fully know the perception here. I do not think everyone in Mexico thinks that a player goes to MLS just to make money. Many players when they go to the US realize that it is a fairly even and competitive league, with many drawbacks such as weather changes, time changes, long trips, and things that help you evolve as a player and prepare for when you go to Europe,” added Pineda. “You have to speak other languages, live with people from other cultures, have many competitions within a year, understand about marketing, talk to the press and perform both on and off the pitch. There are many nuances that will allow a young player with a sharp vision to look at MLS with good eyes.”
The connection between Atlanta United and Mexican soccer has remained strong with the club's current coaching staff, in part, consisting of three former Mexican league players, Pineda, Diego de la Torre and Eugenio Villazón. In addition, the Head Coach of the Mexican National Team, Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, assumed his current position following two seasons in Atlanta, where he became the first Latin American coach to win MLS Cup.

In a video posted to Truth Social on Thursday, Trump claimed without evidence that the country was plagued by "Marxist" and "Communist" prosecutors who were influenced by Soros, a Jewish philanthropist and Democratic mega-donor who has become a frequent feature in far-right conspiracy theories. The former president promised to "overhaul" the Department of Justice if elected in 2024 and target the prosecutors in "civil rights investigations," claiming that "these Soros prosecutors appear to be engaging in selective enforcement based on illegal racial discrimination." "As we completely overhaul the federal Department of Justice and FBI, we will also launch sweeping civil rights investigations into Marxist local District Attorneys," Trump said. "And that's what we have -- they are Marxists in many cases." Trump, who was charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York this month, claimed that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was "hand-picked and funded by George Soros" shortly after news of his indictment broke. In reality, the ties between Soros and Bragg are not as strong as Trump and other Republicans have suggested. There is no evidence that the two men have a personal relationship or have even met or communicated with each other in any way. The only verified connection is that Soros was one of several major donors to the progressive political action committee (PAC) Color of Change, which in turn donated to Bragg and other progressive district attorney candidates. Bragg was elected as district attorney, rather than "hand-picked" by Soros. As an indirect campaign donor, Soros played a role in getting Bragg elected. However, the same could be said for anyone else who donated to Color of Change or his campaign. While Trump did not specifically mention Bragg in the video released on Thursday, he singled out a "Soros prosecutor in Austin, Texas"—a reference to Travis County District Attorney José Garza, who prosecuted Daniel Perry, an Uber driver and Army veteran recently convicted of murdering a "Black Lives Matter" protester in 2020. Republicans have railed against Garza for allegedly being "Soros-owned," with the prosecutor also receiving campaign contributions from a PAC to which Soros donated, while GOP Texas Governor Greg Abbott has vowed to pardon Perry. Trump said that his return to the White House would usher in "a complete investigation into the use of police state tactics by federal authorities to arrest conservatives and Christians," promising to "hold them totally accountable." The former president also suggested he would intervene in private law firms and state bar associations. He would work to "reform the far-left Bar Associations and stop the purge of Conservative lawyers from major law firms." In addition, Trump promised to replace federal prosecutors with "the 100 most ferocious legal warriors against crime and Communist corruption that this country has ever seen." "I will appoint U.S. Attorneys who will be the polar opposite of the Soros district attorneys and others appointed throughout the United States," Trump said. "Very unfair to our population, very unfair to our country." Trump has targeted his political opponents with Soros links in the past. This includes amplifying a false claim that his potential 2024 GOP primary rival Ron DeSantis has been "endorsed" by the billionaire. In February, the former president on Truth Social linked to an article from far-right misinformation site The Gateway Pundit, featuring the headline "The Kiss of Death—Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Endorsed by George Soros." Newsweek has reached out to Soros' Open Society Foundation for comment.

Man Who Killed BLM Protester Shared Racist Content, New Documents Show
Daniel Perry, the man who killed a Black Lives Matter protester at a rally in Austin in July 2020, regularly shared racist memes and content in private messages and social media posts, including descriptions of killing protesters and minorities, newly unsealed court documents reveal.
Some of Perry’s messages and posts were previously known — including a May 2020 message in which he said he “might have to kill a few people on my way to work,” referring to protesters near his apartment complex. But the new 76-page document includes more evidence, revealing the scope and consistency of the violent content.
In the unsealed documents, Perry is seen justifying and joking about harming protesters. In a 2020 Facebook post, for example, he likens Black Lives Matter protesters to monkeys. “I am a racist because I do not agree with people acting like animals at the zoo,” he wrote. “I was on the side” of the protesters, he wrote, until they “started with the looting and the violence.”
Perry, a 37-year-old Army sergeant and ride-sharing driver, was convicted of murdering 28-year-old Garrett Foster. Shortly after Perry’s conviction, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said he was seeking an expedited pardon for Perry, citing the state’s “stand your ground” self-defense laws. Travis County District Attorney José Garza called it “deeply troubling.” Perry has not been sentenced yet.
Abbott’s office, Perry’s lawyer and the Travis County District Attorney’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment late Thursday. -(source: the washington post)
