HOLYY-
I NEVER EXPECTED THAT THEY WOULD LOOK THIS SIMILAR IN REVERSE??😭😭
Now that I look at it, Vil's vampire hairstyle is so similar to Meleanor's- (wasn't there a line where people were so stunned by his beauty and he was like, vampires are supposed to captivate others with their beauty??) I'm losing my mind-
Also MELEANOR'S INVERTED COLOURS-?!
She looks so beautiful😭😭 AND SO SIMILAR TO VIL-
Is their eye shape similar or am I just this delusional-?
Meleanor with her inverted colours looks like a diurnal fairy would- Her Day and Night version😂🥹
But yes! Their colours are so similar and stunning! Kinda terrifying- Both of them use beauty to bring people down to their knees-
Was that a mistake or made on purpose? (I can't think of things like that as accidents after playing Hoyoverse's games-)
Hmm, what does Pomefiore and Diasomnia have in common to have such parallels?🤔 There must be something!
So my dear @roseapov suggested to me about swapping Vil and Meleanor’s color palette to see their resemblances. I have talked about the Vil and Meleanor parallels many times before, not only with their appearances but their overall personality and role in the story. As I was trying to figure out how palette swaps worked (I am Malleus in the sense that idk anything about technology BJXJS), I accidentally inverted the colors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And…I discovered something fascinating. On the left, I color-picked from Vil’s sprite, and on the right from Meleanor’s. The shade of green in Vil’s hair looks…exactly like Draconian fire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miss Meleanor the shade of your inverted eyes is stunning 😭💖💖💖 But??? Exactly a blonde color and purple eyes…her eye color looks exactly like the Pomefiore magestone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Malleus turned out a similar way, and that’s when I realized that Pomefiore and Diasomnia’s magestones are near exact inversions of each other. (Vil’s inverted magestone on the bottom)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tested it out with the Knight and Dawn, because Vil was directly compared to him by Grim in Lilia’s dream in Book 7. And…again, he has a very similar color palette to the Draconia’s. (The translation is meant to say ‘Vil.’ Translation credits to GasMask 💖🐦‍⬛)
So…now that I’m looking at this, the uncanny similarities between Vil and Meleanor don’t seem like coincidence. And nor are the parallels between the Knight of Dawn’s fate with Meleanor (parents both giving up their child for their safety and losing their lives in war).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not very good at describing what I mean lol, but…they are inversions of each other, something that mysteriously lives on through Pomefiore and Diasomnia. It is also important to note that Vil and Malleus’ magestones are the only ones to have red blot as well.Vil’s role in the future story is unknown, but there are so many parallels that I am staying true to my belief that Vil is meant to symbolically represent Meleanor 🤔 Thank you so much Rosea for suggesting this to me 😭🫶

Hihi!!! Tis the season to ask holiday themed asks!! Assuming the world of TWST celebrates winter holidays, do your OCs celebrate any holidays? If so, what are some things they like to do?
Thank you for including me in this idea, fam!
Admittedly this took a bit of consideration and it's still somewhat haphazard, so I apologize for that, please bear with!
Copper Benoit- While we touched on this very briefly in DMs, I don't mind expanding on it here! Copper doesn't recall celebrating winter holidays in the orphanage prior to Mr. Stone kidnapping him at age 6 or 7; he's sure the caretakers at the orphanage probably did do something for the kids, but it's been so long ago and his trauma so severe he doesn't really remember much about his time at the orphanage, let alone if they celebrated much of anything. And during the slightly-over-a-decade he's kept by Mr. Stone, nothing was celebrated, not really. So Copper's first exposure to winter holiday celebrations really begins when he starts his student career at Night Raven College! He wants to learn and respect as many celebrations of all sorts that he can (and as appropriately as possible,) so he's just happy to be a part of things and learn what these celebrations are and the significance they hold! Difficult to say what exactly that will lead to as he grows older, but he's got time to figure that out!
Wei Renqiao- Ren's family celebrates the Lunar New Year very faithfully, and when he comes to NRC, he makes certain to continue observing those traditions and celebrates in small ways before going back home to Bàoyìng for winter break. He especially loves when Ortho takes a more vested, hands-on interest in learning more about their celebrations, and goes out of his way to include him and anyone else who's curious in his festivities, even if they're much quieter in Ignihyde Dorm than they are back home!
Chrysanthos Shroud- Ahhh, here's where we get to my headcanon that the Shrouds observe a TWST version of Saturnalia; you'll have to forgive me, it's been years since I practiced observing it in high school and I'm still re-learning a lot of what I forgot, but that celebration and feast holds a special place in my heart. Even with working on re-educating myself, I do headcanon the Shrouds observe it, and it wasn't much more than a passing acknowledgement of notations on a calendar until Ilias married Kallisto. Kallisto insists on the Saturnalia season being warm and good-spirited and makes it a point to bring that together for her husband and her in-laws, so of course Chrys grew up with a very positive winter holiday celebration. His aunt and uncle and of course Ortho will also happily observe with him, though Idia has to be coaxed. Chrys loves the energy of Saturnalia and the vibes, and he brings it with him; eventually when he and Wei Xinyi start dating, the two decide to learn each other's celebrations and holiday observations, and eventually celebrate both when they get married!
The Anatoles- I do think they celebrate some sort of Yuletide holiday. The siblings are brought home during the holiday break and spend some time doing a lot of winter activities and holiday shopping and dining out, both with their great-grandmother, and with their stepfather's old jazz buddies. Their staff is offered the holiday off with double pay, but are also invited to meals at the home with them. Marianne especially wants people to eat the desserts she works hard to make, Bertrand will happily play holiday music on the piano, and Toussaint is generally pretty sleepy and calm compared to his usual energy (though still jovial as ever.) The siblings will often do their best to drag Rollo into their celebrations, despite his protests.
And last but most certainly not least, bonus surprise
The Pondicliffs- Felix and Aurelian always come home from Royal Sword Academy for Yuletide during the winter break. It's a little crowded with their sizeable family with so many dalmatian beastfolk kids, but they're pretty happy. The family tends to stay indoors most days for the break, with Felix and Aurelian often building snowmen, making snow forts and having snowball fights, or sledding downhill with their siblings, while the parents do a lot of cooking for several days. They all help with decorating their house, and spend a lot of time playing board games in the evening, having festive treats, watching holiday films, and then over the course of three days, they exchange gifts with one another! Felix loves the holidays, Aurelian's at that grumpy teen stage of hating the holidays just 'cause.
Thanks again for sending this ask! Also, would love to see more peeps and mutuals share their thoughts for their OCs and winter holidays too!

@distant-velleity @rainesol @thehollowwriter @theleechyskrunkly @twst-migraine

WIP Wednesday, October 30, filename #1
Well I don’t think anyone is surprised that WIP #1 is done first. After all, I’m now joining the challenge-that-shall-not-be-named with it too. (listen, I am having too much fun with that name, so it’s staying haha) I am also loving how the fic is going, if I can say so myself.
So #1 is Remus coffee shop au wolfstar. And you can read the on-going fic here.
Much love to @tamsinswriting, @kalira (thanks for the good vibes! work is still a mess as usual haha) @eriquin & @kallisto-k for requesting this!
***
“Good morning gentleman,” he greeted them, big smile on his face. Sirius was leaning on the counter, mirroring his smile. James and Peter behind him. The vibes were just happy, at ease.
“Good morning sunshine! You look well today,” Sirius commented and Remus knew his cheeks were getting a little red. Even more so when it seemed like Sirius was completely serious. Was he looking well? He hadn’t changed his glamour, still mostly hiding the scars on his face. Was he then looking happier? That might’ve been Sirius’s doing.
“No need to compliment yourself,” he couldn’t help but to reply a bit teasingly.
“Ooh smooth talker, I love it,” Sirius chuckled and Remus couldn’t help but to roll his eyes for a moment. “But I mean it, you look great today.”
“Yes Remus, you look positively fabulous today.”
“Have you done something with your hair?” James and Peter chimed in and Remus couldn’t help but just laugh.
“How’d you know?” he replied and ran a hand through his hair. Which had all three of them in a complete fit.
“Laugh it off all you want, I will continue complimenting you until you listen!” Sirius stated with a certainty that Remus believed him. Which meant he better get used to working with bright red cheeks because he just knew that was going to happen. Especially when Sirius confirmed that statement with a wink send his way.
“I agree with that. Remus, your ass looks magni- au!” James started but Sirius moved remarkable quickly and put James in a headlock.
“Shut up you hippogriff dong!”
“Come on, you have to admit-“
“I hope you know what you’re getting into,” Peter commented as he moved closer towards the counter. A bit amazed Remus watched Sirius and James fight like little kids would. He hesitated if he should actually intervene or let them just fight it out. “They’ll be fine, just let them be.”
“I’m learning something new everyday it smeems,” he replied before shrugging, turning his attention fully towards Peter. “What can I get the three of you?”
“I think the same as always! Don’t worry, I’ll guide them towards a table so you can actually do your job,” Peter said and waved him off. Remus just saw him dramatically roll his eyes before marching off after Sirius and James. He just shook his head before turning his attention at the job at hand.

We honour the Mother on account of the Son
Mariology is simply an extension of Christology. The Fathers of the Council of Ephesus insisted on calling Mary Theotokos, not because they desired to glorify her as an end in herself, apart from her Son, but because only by honouring Mary could they safeguard a right doctrine of Christ's person. Anyone who thinks out the implications of that great phrase, The Word was made flesh, cannot but feel a certain awe for her who was chosen as the instrument of so surpassing a mystery. When men refuse to honour Mary, only too often it is because they do not really believe in the Incarnation.
But Orthodox honour Mary, not only because she is Theotokos, but because she is Panagia, All-Holy. Among all God's creatures, she is the supreme example of synergy or cooperation between the purpose of the deity and the free will of man. God, who always respects human liberty, did not wish to become incarnate without the free consent of His Mother. He waited for her voluntary response: 'Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to your word' (Luke i, 38). Mary could have refused; and if she had refused, the Incarnation would not have taken place. As Nicholas Cabasilas said:
The Incarnation was not only the work of the Father, of His Power and His Spirit . . . but it was also the work of the will and faith of the Virgin . . . Just as God became incarnate voluntarily, so He wished that His Mother should bear Him freely and with her full consent.
If Christ is the New Adam, Mary is the New Eve, whose obedient submission to the will of God counterbalanced Eve's disobedience in Paradise. 'So the knot of Eve's disobedience was loosed through the obedience of Mary; for what Eve, a virgin, bound by her unbelief, that Mary, a virgin, unloosed by her faith,' 'Death by Eve, life by Mary'.

Ace of Swords characters 2 - the alves
Another post of characters from Ace of Swords, my original story.
The alves are a race of elf-like people. They have green skin, pointy ears and sharp canine teeth. Their lifespan is similar to humans. Their main homeland is Aukreto.
Alves do not have last names and are instead named after the town, city or province they were born in. The royal alven family are all named 'of Aukreto'.
Here are (most of) the alf characters in Ace of Swords:
The Royal alves:
Prince Aman of Aukreto. He is the middle of three brothers and a kind and friendly soul. He loves poetry, literature and animals. As a child he was relentlessly bullied by his younger brother Santos, but he always had a good relationship with his older brother Daedalos. Despite being overall pacifistic, Aman is a great swordsman and can fight if he needs to.
Prince Santos of Aukreto. The youngest of three brothers. Santos is a sadistic man who enjoy bringing pain and suffering on others and doesn't care about anyone but himself. He ran away from the alven kingdom when his brother Daedalos became king and is now trying to build an army to take over a country of his own.
King Daedalos of Aukreto. The oldest of three brothers. He is the current king of Aukreto. Daedalos is a serious man who comes across as flat and emotionless. But he cares about being as good a king as he can be, as well as being a supportive big brother to Aman. However, he never had a good relationship with Santos.
Queen Kallisto of Miota. Daedalos' wife and queen of Aukreto, though she really doesn't have too much of an interest in ruling. She's a withdrawn and socially awkward woman who prefers to sit in the library reading books. A lot of people at the palace find her a bit creepy and odd because of her awkward mannerisms.
Phoebe of Akrurin. Half-sister to Santos, Aman and Daedalos. She has no official royal titles as she was born from an affair between the old king and a maid. She was only welcomed into the family when Daedalos became king and had the power to do so. She's a sweet and clever woman.
Santos' Followers:
Petreos of Xenonius. He was originally Santos' bodyguard who was supposed to protect Santos from the world and vice-versa. When Santos fled the alven kingdom, Petreos joined him as one of his followers. Petreos is a serious, quiet and slightly socially awkward man. He's deeply in love with Santos but refuses to see that he loves something in him that doesn't exist and that Santos is just using him.
Tyrios. He is probably the most dangerous of Santos' followers. An unhinged, creepy maniac who loves violence. When fighting he can completely lose himself and go berserk, turning into a danger to even his allies. Tyrios doesn't care about fame or glory or Santos' goals, he just cares about fighting.
Athix. Athix was originally a soldier who was drowning in debt and joined Santos' gang in the hope of gaining riches and protection from debt collectors. He's an upbeat and friendly guy. He's head over heels in love with fellow Santos follower Maron and goes out of his way to try and impress him.
Maron. He was originally a scholar at the alven palace, but left with Santos because he hoped joining the rogue prince would bring him fame and fortune. He's a standoffish and vain person. Usually acts annoyed with Athix' antics, but secretly thinks he's really cute. (And is totally cursing himself for falling for this man. )
Zethos. An older ex-soldier who's extremely grumpy and actually joined Santos because he thought Santos should be king. Why is anyone's guess.
Other alves:
Odano. A falconer working at the alven palace. He's overly confident and kind of an ass. He and prince Aman used to be an item, but have broken up. Now Odano loves to just tease and annoy Aman.
Flavius. An alf who lives in the same village as the main character Sen. He has very little connection to his homeland or other alves. A grumpy and perpetually tired guy. He lives with his adopted daughter Sally and she brings out the best in him.

For the ask game: 🥑🔪🪲
Thank you for the asks!
🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
Accidentally you say? Not on purpose? Ok.. fine... I'd probably text @kallisto-k because I'm always bothering her and she's writing a great investigative fic so I'm pretty sure she could help me!
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I already answered this question so I'll change it a bit and I'll say what was the last thing I researched about: private deed.
🪲 ⇢ add 50 words to your current wip and share the paragraph here
And this is why it took me so long to reply but here are your 50 words (51 to be precise!)
“I’m still working on it, it’s not like I was trying to make a wiping memory serum, you should know it.” Brenner replies, “But I’ll work on it, don’t worry, you’ll have your serum in no time.” Hagan nods, staring at Steve who is still deeply relaxed thanks to the drugs.

Fanfic Writer Ask Game
Tagged by @jencsi <3
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 182
2. What's your total ao3 word count? 318.659
3. What fandoms do you write for? My top fandoms are CSI, Spartacus, MacGyver and The 100
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Learning to Fall - MacGyver Eternal Tethers - Spartacus Unspeakable Beauty - Spartacus Red Handed, Red Rimmed, Bare Skinned - Spartacus Soft Kisses and Whispers of Love - Spartacus
5. Do you respond to comments? Mostly
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I prefer fluff and smut but I guess Absent Heart (Spartacus)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have happy endings, really can't tell. One of the fluffiest might be Five Weddings (CSI)
8. Do you get hate on fics? I've gotten a strange comment about MacDalton being platonic but that was on a piece of art and not an actual fic
9. Do you write smut? Absolutely
10. Do you wrote crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written? My Mandy/Jill series (Mandy from CSI and Jill from MacGyver) And I've done that odd little The 100/Spartacus crossover once
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I know of
13. Have you ever co written a fic? Yes, multiple times and it's always been a blast
14. What's your all time favourite ship? Nick x David (CSI) and Lugo x Auctus (Spartacus) and actually all my ships from Spartacus
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Well there's the sequel to Savages East of the Rhine, my Spartacus Brothel AU, Duro adopting Varro & Aurelia's kid after they die and a number of Star Trek Discovery wips... and then some
16. What are your writing strengths? Tough. I think I'm good at getting into a character's POV, making the reader feel like they're right with the character. I also consider myself a fairly decent smut writer. I've been praised for my canon language skills in Spartacus fic, which I pride myself on. Generally dialogue, I always put great effort into making the characters sound in character and close to canon.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? World building, plot, getting from a to b. I tend to visualize scenes but then I need to get the characters there and I often struggle with "greater picture" parts.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I've used some German phrases in a fic where there was a German character. I don't feel comfortable using a language I'm not fluent in (English is already my second language) but if the show has a conlang or a character uses phrases in their native tongue a lot I'll try to incorporate that. Might wanna try to find a native speaker to proof read though.
19. First fandom you wrote for? CSI
20. Favourite fic you've ever written? Please don't ask me that, there are so many. I'm probably most proud of Savages East of the Rhine though
Okay, that took forever. Tagging my friends @telltaleclerk, @stormkpr, @kallisto-k, @guggi04 and @obscureenthusiast in this

WIP Wed continues
another request for Chronicles from @kallisto-k, so here is the beginning of Chapter 1 where I have been bashing myself against Aerielle's perspective.
Aerielle Forrester ran swiftly and silently down the forest track a gathering basket strapped flat against the pack on her back and a song humming in her body, her footfalls landing smartly on the beat. It was a market day, and her father was working in the village selling maps and wrangling guides for the prosperous traders that moved through the Verriswood from the mines in the mountains down to the capital city in the great river valley. Her younger sister Kala would be by his side, his apprentice in name as well as deed these days, freeing Aerielle to solitude and the song of the trees. She knew the woods here as well as she knew her own self and had been running them all of her life. The supple leather soles of her soft and flexible climbing boots made no sound against the springy pine needles, and she felt as wild as the deer she hunted loose in the Verriswood with nothing but her bow, her knife and her game bag. Today was not for deer though. She had heard one of the traders in the tavern last night talking about a strange red fungus she had seen growing on the trees on the river road and Aerielle hoped to find some. Red was a difficult color to dye, and she hoped that this might be the answer to one of her many dye requests. Between her sister and their endless need for pretty threads and ribbons to embroider and her father’s use of colorful inks in his map making, a good strong red would put gold in her pocket and build one more rung on her ladder to her own independence.
Aerielle was always angling to get out of the village on market days. Her mother was forever harried and looking for someone to grab and force into chore after endless chore in the shop while her father was away minding the stand. Mother meant well, but Aerielle was miserable in the shop. Customers were forever asking questions and somehow no matter how often she smiled or bowed her head, her answers never seemed to satisfy.  Her mother never criticized her and always took her side if one of the  town matrons  became annoyed with her,  but Aerielle could always see the sadness and worry in her mother's eyes.  Any of her siblings were preferable shopkeepers and Aerielle preferred to be free to do what she was food at:  foraging, hunting, discovering new fauna and creatures.  It was why her father always jokingly called her his little elf.  She still remembered how he would pull on her ears as a child, asking her when the points would start to grow before scooping her up in his arms for a hug after she had brought him an interesting leaf or a pretty stone.

Callisto
written for @ob-levi-on ❤ (sorry it took a while, I hope you like it)
warning: Oikawa Tooru x fem!reader; hurt to comfort
Derived from Greek κάλλιστος (kallistos) meaning "most beautiful". In Greek mythology Callisto was a nymph who was loved by Zeus. She was changed into a she-bear by Hera, and subsequently became the Great Bear constellation.
Tumblr media
The first time you saw him, it was the word beautiful that defined him. There was a friendly match on Aoba Johsai's volleyball court. The bleachers were full of spectators, it was loud. Cheers and shouts can be heard, especially when the setter plays, the girls' screams will intensify.
That place was not your usual place as you prefer a more tranquil place. With eyes gleamed with passion, his hands were flexing to set the ball, and a smile plastered on his face in the euphoria of scoring. You cannot deny the fact that you were captivated at the moment.
He's still the same guy he was in high school, but with tanned skin and a more athletic form. He looks more mature in his mid-20s, but his grin is still familiar. You watch him play, basking in the shade of the sunset. He wipes his glistening sweat and exchanges compliments with his teammates.
You once again concentrate on the majestic heavenly body which is about to lie beneath the horizon. Mix and ooze another paint to mimic the scenery while the sand grains massage your bare feet. This is a beautiful serene time to end your day.
Day by day, you come to the white sandy beach at the same hour. And you can always find him in the same arena. It seems that the universe is on your side as you continue to cross his path all the time. Unconsciously, you started to include the beach volleyball team in your painting.
"What a beautiful painting." Too lost in your thought, the man you've been thinking about was already standing right in front of you.
It only starts with a single compliment that leads to hello and self-introduction. Even though you went to the same high school, you were just an acquaintance. You prefer to start fresh - it will be awkward if he doesn't remember you. And he plays along with you.
"My name is Oikawa Tooru," he said.
You tell him your name in exchange, taking his hand outstretched hand; it's bigger and warmer than yours. There's a sense of friction from meeting and parting with his hand. Some other time, you meet him again during his usual beach volleyball match.
At first, all the banters were light. You giggle at his expression when he failed to reach the ball. He tells you so many silly theories and during his break, he will eagerly explain some volleyball techniques.
But as time goes by, slowly but surely he peels off, showing his true self. He's much more profound than the facade -  the smoothness of his ice shell where an ocean of deep feeling lies.
He tells you how he used to push himself unhealthily, to the point where he put himself at risk. He tells about his insecurity and how he has dealt with it and is still working on it. His vulnerability makes you want to give him a hug, which you keep alone to yourself.
Sharing the sunset with him and watching the ethereal sunlight are the moments you look forward to everyday. A precious moment with an important person that you want to hold so dearly. You didn't know he can be even more beautiful with the proximity, to find that there are freckles that spread out like tiny stars on his face.
Unfortunately, today the person who shares the sunset with him is not you. There's already a beautiful woman giggling beside him, casually pinching his cheek while letting out a carefree laugh. She looks much more mature but still freshly beautiful, her long brunette hair waves gracefully as the wind rises.
She's the definition that age only flourishes her with grace. And in the sunset light, her head resting on his broad shoulder. Their interaction was too close to your liking. But who are you to feel even a glimpse of jealousy?
You walk away from the beachside with a weight on your feet. Something burns in your chest, you never know you want him so bad, to be someone who has significance in his life. It makes sense why Zeus come to snatch Callisto away because of her beauty and his own curse, love. Even when he had to deceive those around him.
The next day you come again to the beach, sitting bench aways from your usual place, seeking for therapy by painting the sunset again. Today's sunset is painfully pink as she’s is in love, a bit contrast to your broken heart.
But your presence isn’t getting unnoticed to the volleyball player with a number 13. He comes up to you and sits right beside you, admiring your look everytime you graze another paint on your canvas. If only you notice his gaze, he is in awe and love struck.
He asks why are you not sitting at your usual place. Your eyes still glued to the canvas from the start, ignoring his intense look because you fear those brown orbs will enchant you, making you fall all over again.
You half-heartedly answer with an argument that you need to take this spot since people were blocking the view.
"Besides, I thought today you were with your girlfriend again," you add, biting the inside of your cheeks. You try to speak in the most neutral tone, not realizing you're totally a terrible liar from your slightly pouted lips and furrowed brows.
Now all you can hear is Oikawa chuckle that confused you, successfully gathering your attention to him. You meet his teasing eyes and infamous grin.
"As I remember, I don't have any girlfriend. The last girl I met yesterday was my sister. It's been a while since the last time she visited Argentina, I missed her so much."
"Besides, what if the girl I want to be my girlfriend is sitting right in front of me?"
Under the hues of the beautiful sunset, you're dumbfounded. He pierces right into your heart, heat creeping up your cheeks. Because you didn't expect that beautiful Callisto will catch you first. While you always think every aspect of him is so dazzling, he believes you're the most beautiful one.

Gods/Greek myhtology au
Favored by the Gods by codename_bewareofthefangirl
Since the day of his childbirth, Kirishima Eijirou had always been kept caged in that solitary tower on the cliffs. He was the precious son of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty, patroness of the city of Sestos: how could have they let him free when he was the saving grace of the city? It was his responsibility to be the elected priest and consecrate his life for their prosperity.
He would be allowed to appear in public once a year, for the celebration in honor of Adonis, his Mother’s most loved man. He would welcome all the inhabitants of the city at Aphrodite’s Temple and offer his benediction through the Sacred Dance.
He had only one duty, his life had only one meaning. Stay safe, do not disrespect the Goddess, guarantee protection to the city.
Nothing more.
Nothing more.
Split my skin, it's colored red by Grimmseye
Kirishima’s expression flattens. Slowly, he closes his eyes, leaning his forehead against Bakugou’s and sighing. “I pray to those gods every night to forgive you,” he says, long-suffering yet fond. “Someday they’ll take me, and then I’ll burn for you, too.”
“They’ll have to battle me for you,” Bakugou tells him, sees the devious joy it brings to his face. “And I’ve never once fallen in battle.”
Gimme A Man After Midnight by Cleor_nor
Katsuki Bakugou, Son of Nike, the Goddess of Victory, is chosen by the Fates to rescue the unfortunate Son of Eros who had been turned to stone by the gods. With the Sun God Apollo against him, and several trials to overcome, Katsuki is determined to win and prove himself as a great hero.
It helps that at night, he can escape to his dreams where his beautiful friend Eijirou is waiting for his return, a loving constant amidst the challenges of Ancient Greece.

Bakugou Katsuki, lord of the dead, hates a lot of things. The god of springtime is not one of them.
Oh My Gods by Synnie
Kirishima is overjoyed when he learns his fields have been blessed by the Harvest God, Crimson. When Bakugo, God of War, helps himself to the Harvest God's offerings, Kirishima learns a blessing from a god is also an open invitation for other gods to wreak havoc in his otherwise quiet life.
But when the gods are betrayed by one of their own, Kirishima finds himself caught up in the intrigue. All he wanted was to go back to the life he knew. But will that be enough for him now that he's tasted so much more?

Force is all Katsuki’s ever known. He’s never stopped fighting, and he has no intention of changing that now. It’s worked for him so far.
But the new guy lifts a rough, bandaged hand out of his pocket before answering; his eyes are bright, like he’s thrilled to get to take the mic. “Hey! I’m Kirishima,” he says, then locks eyes with Katsuki before flashing a grin full of huge, shark-like teeth. “Nice t’meet you guys!”
Oh, no.
There’s no fucking way this is happening.
Katsuki has spent his whole life trying to prove himself by beating down everyone who doubts him, whether they think he’s weak or because his bullshit Goddess of a mom won’t stop flinging love interests his way. That was the plan for his sixth summer at Camp Half Blood - never show weakness, even if the new Ares kid with the unwavering smile isn’t deterred by his walls.
Honestly, it's not going great.
God-Touched by Kallistos
To save his sister from a damning prophecy, Prince Eijirou agrees to marry a monster he’s forbidden to see. What he discovers, trapped in a palace in the sky, forces him to question everything he's ever held as truth.
A retelling of the myth of Psyche & Eros.
parted, and never parted by Authoress
Before going into battle, it’s only proper to make an offering to the god of war. But Kirishima’s run out of things to give.
From Fire and Ashes, Flourishing by Milligramme
It was starting to be insanely hot, Eijirou tripped so often that he was almost walking on all four at this point, his hands were all scratched from the rocks, his clothes dusty and in disarray, and to make things worse, the volcano was mocking him with an uneven slope that made him think the summit was close only to reveal another one further up.
Kirishima's peaceful life on his volcanic island is put to an end when the dormant Mount Bakugou comes back to life, each eruption getting closer to the village and the crops. As panic starts to spread, people remember the old god of the volcano and the ancient tradition to offer him a sacrifice.
Kirishima doesn't buy any of this, but the older villagers seem serious. So before they kill someone in the name of a god that might not even exist, he decides to climb the volcano himself, hoping to find out what causes the eruptions.
Unbreakable by ColleenWritesMN
Kirishima was born blessed by the Sun God, the only person with crimson eyes in his village. He had his mother’s sharp teeth and sonorous voice and his father’s broad shoulders and dark hair, which his parents lamented: if only he’d been given fiery red hair to match his eyes. No one in the village had red hair, though it was said to emerge every other generation or so. Their village was truly the most favored of the Sun God, for their offerings were the most celebrated, the most lauded. And their tributes returned from the temple every year, which couldn’t be said for other villages. When he turned twenty, Kirishima won the privilege of tribute, chosen for his sturdiness and unflappable spirit. The villagers wouldn’t go so far as to call him “the sun” – or risk godly vengeance – but a day never went by that he wasn’t helping someone bring in crops from the fields or carry water home from the nearby spring. If he frowned, only his parents witnessed it, because the villagers only received his blinding smile when he passed through the market. He was the ideal choice to bring the village offering for the year, for how could the Sun God resist that ready smile and shining red eyes.

The Potential Enigma of Philokalic Spirituality for the Western Mind:
To the Western mind, the starkness of philokalic spirituality with its constant emphasis on watchfulness, and the controlling of thoughts through unceasing prayer may be perplexing. There is in the West an almost inherent suspicion of things, especially spiritual, regarding asceticism involving restriction of thoughts unless such practices are stripped of anything approaching moral judgment or recognition of evil influence. One might, for example, be attracted to and engage in certain practices of meditation if the emphasis is on obtaining peace of mind and obtaining a state of inner calmness. Among those who do have religious and moral sensibilities that allow for such asceticism, the lack of emphasis on imaginative meditation on the life of Christ and his passion still presents something of an enigma. While the Western spiritual tradition does not lack such notions and spiritual writers who emphasize the type of spirituality the desert fathers put forward, the prevailing practice centers on imaginative and affective prayer and discursive mediation. This may make the Evagrian spirituality that prevails in the Philokalia seem obscure and foreign. Kallistos Ware writes: “Even though only a few pages are devoted to the works of Evagrios Pontus himself, the book as a whole makes constant use of his threefold classification of the spiritual way into the active life (praktiki), the contemplation of nature (physiki) and the contemplation of God (theologia). It also repeats in many places Evagrios’s description of prayer as a ‘shedding of thoughts’, a laying aside of images and discursive thinking. ‘When you are praying,‘ says Evagrios, ‘do not shape within yourself any image of the Deity, and do not let your intellect be stamped with the impress of any form; but approach the Immaterial in an immaterial manner, and then you will understand.‘
I mention all of this because it is fundamental to having a clear understanding of prayer and watchfulness as described in the writings of Hesychios that I have been considering in recent posts. With the exception of a few rare instances, the ascetic struggle and the manner of praying that is part of that struggle, notably the practice of the Jesus prayer, the Philokalia presents a Evagrian spirituality that is ‘apophatic‘.
The writers of the Philokalia, Hesychios among them, emphasize the interactions between thoughts, passions and sinful acts. Understanding these interactions and the fathers’ use of such terms is imperative. Before moving on to consider Hesychios’ teaching on controlling thoughts, it may be helpful to briefly consider a few definitions offered by Gregory of Sinai. These few paragraphs give great insight into why the fathers place special emphasize on struggling with distracting thoughts.
Gregory writes:
“Sinful acts provoke passions, the passions provoke distractive thoughts and distractive thoughts, provoke fantasies. The fragmented memory begets a multiplicity of ideas, forgetfulness, causes the fragmentation of the memory, ignorance leads to forgetfulness, and appetites are aroused by misdirected emotions, and misdirected emotions by committing sinful acts. A sinful act is provoked by a mindless desire for evil and a strong attachment to the senses and to sensory things” (Philokalia IV).
The Fathers of the Philokalia taught that sense factors can evoke the passions. The senses are mainly visual, but can be auditory, taste, touch and smell as well. In anticipation of many modern psychologists, the Fathers understood that cognition, memory and emotions scan also be triggered by such cues.
St. Gregory of Sinai again expresses these factors well:
“Distractive thoughts arise and are activated in the soul's intelligent faculty, violent passions in the incensive faculty, the memory of bestial appetites in the desiring faculty, imaginary forms in the mind and ideas in the conceptualizing faculty ... We are provoked to sin by such thoughts; the irruption of evil thoughts is like the current of a river, and when as a result of this we give our assent to sin, our heart is overwhelmed as though by a turbulent flood” (Philokalia IV).
The Fathers understood that the senses are activated by such distractive thoughts and so the battle must be waged there. Thus, St. Gregory continues:
“By the "deep mire" (Ps. 69:2) understand slimy sensual pleasure or the sludge of lechery, or the burden of material things. Weighed down by all this, the impassioned intellect casts itself into the depths of despair ... sin ... is named according to its external manifestation” (Philokalia IV).
Such thoughts and behavior can become deeply entrenched (habitual) and our only overcome by ascetic struggle, humility, prayer and the grace of God. St. Nilus noted, "A practice leads to a habit, and habit takes root like second nature. It is difficult and painful to stir or transform a nature.” Likewise, St. Gregory of Sinai wrote, "The cause and origin of the passions is the misuse of things ... (and) expresses the bias of the will ... " (Philokalia IV).
With these considerations in mind, perhaps we can begin to understand the firmness of Hesychios as discusses the kinds of watchfulness and why he wants us to be particularly attentive to these measures and practice them with diligence. He writes:
“I shall now tell you in plain, straightforward language what I consider to be the types of watchfulness which gradually cleanse the intellect from impassioned thoughts. In these times of spiritual warfare I have no wish to conceal beneath words whatever in this treatise may be of use, especially to more simple people. As St. Paul puts it: ‘Pay attention, my child Timothy, to what you read.’ (1Tim 4:13).
“One type of watchfulness consists in closely scrutinizing every mental image or provocation; for only by means of a mental image can Satan fabricate an evil thought and insinuate this into the intellect in order to lead it astray.”
“A second type of watchfulness consist in freeing the heart from all thoughts, keeping it profoundly silent and still, and in praying.”
“A third type consists in continually and humbling calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ for help.”
“A forth type is always to have the thought of death in one’s mind.”
“These types of watchfulness, my child, act like doorkeepers and bar entry to evil thoughts. Elsewhere, if God gives me words, I shall deal more fully with a further type which, along with others, is also effective: this is to fix one’s gaze on heaven and to pay no attention to anything material.”
“When we have to some extent cut off the causes of the passions, we should devote our time to spiritual contemplation; for if we fail to do this we shall easily revert to the fleshly passions, and so achieve nothing but the complete darkening of our intellect and its reversion to material things” (Philokalia I, pp. 164-165)
The ascetic struggle described here is great and constant, but its goal is not simply self mastery or freedom from thought or sinful passions. There is a radical personal element involved in the discipline, emphasized in the practice of the Jesus prayer which directs our thoughts and our hearts to God. We do not seek to cleanse the heart and the intellect (nous: the eye of the heart) for ourselves but for God. Jesus warns against a failure to keep this in mind as does Hesychios in his final comment.
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” (Matthew 12: 43-45)
If we sweep and clean the house without having Christ coming to dwell in and be Master of that house, more demons will return and we will find ourselves in a worse state than when we began.

I would pay for an episode/mini comic of "Crowley as silvers fairy godmother" They're so cute 🥺
The snowy forest reminds me of the chronicles of Narnia (have you watched it before?)
The composition with the snowy background really makes it feel magical (but the parasite in me keeps going to that one part in the vocaloid song of Alice of human sacrifice)
Great work kallisto (oops you dropped this ⚘)
-🔹️
Ahhh thank you anon!! 😊😊💕💕💕🐦‍⬛ I haven’t watched Chronicles of Narnia actually! 🤔 I should though…I admittedly was inspired by a heavily foggy day where I live, that made the trees look all spooky 😆 the fog somehow turning into snow when I was drawing haha- I hope there’s some snowfall this year >_> I’ll go back to the fog idea another time though 🎉
😮 oh, I listened to Alice of Human Sacrifice because of your ask, and I was SHOOK 🫣 can’t believe I haven’t listened to it before! I am seeing the Visions with this song…the repeating Alice’s are too perfect for Twst \(//∇//)\
Back to your first lines, I have though about making some mini stories out of things Crowley and Silver AU! 🥹 I’m just…unfortunately impatient when it comes to comics because I’m always stumped with composition 🤣 but I’d like to try since I need the practice!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another silly AU I had in mind would be a Fairy-Godfather-Crowley and Lilia basically being passive aggressive over “custody” over Silver- but they’re both oblivious to time/life spans and inadvertently raise him together 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I imagine there’s a big canon divergence to how baby silver was discovered in the first place, leading to all this nonsense. But Silver is genuinely just vibing 👍 I imagine the bickering being on the same level to Flora and Merryweather -v-
Actually, I feel like I don’t really have an AU yet where Crowley is “just some guy” instead of a Headmasyer ANCHHF 🤔🤔🤔 I’m just rambling now- but trust that I have another self indulgent AU up my sleeves soon. My drawing pen has finally broke, so I’ll wait till I get a replacement for more comfortable drawing😅
Thank you for your ask anon! \(//∇//)\ I’m very appreciative of all your kind words ☆*:.。. o(▽≦)o .。.:*☆ 💕💕💕💕💕🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

Hello friend <3 Which of your ocs have you not talked about much and want an excuse to ramble about? - this is your excuse! - Also, heads up that the links on your masterlist are broken/direct to your former url in case you weren't aware!
Tysm for letting me know!! I totally need to fix that haha.
Oh man...well currently Lightbringer is in heavy revisions because I just wasn't happy with it tbh. Lirial and Cavex were especially flat to me, and they deserved depth I wasn't giving them!
One of my absolute favorites is Kallisto. Her arc is one of the most well defined ones I've made. She wants to be this great warrior. But the gifts from her god are those meant for someone who evades, scouts and travels. They aren't suited for combat, and neither is she, and so her arc is about learning that being on the battlefield isn't the only place of importance. Oftentimes, your words, your kindness and your guidance are much more valuable.
Though I've gushed about Kally enough. Let me talk about Lady Lirial Bluewood, the Shadow's Bane.
Lirial is first and foremost a protector. She and her husband were an unstoppable team; she was an immovable wall that protected them both, while his strong attacks destroyed the monsters in their path. But in an attempt to save his wife and people , he fell under a dark god's influence, his body and mind no longer his own. Lirial escaped, but everywhere she goes, she's revered as this great hero.
And she is always reminded that she failed to protect what mattered most to her. She wants others to see who she is, a dryly funny and loyal and intelligent person. She loves working at a forge, she's a closet weapons nerd, but she's never found people who will see past who she is.
Until she crashes into Aster, a very determined pacafist trying to stop an entire war by herself with only her pet snake and has never heard of Shadow's Bane because she's from a distant island. And now Lirial has a weird little sister who sees her as she is; strange and kinda antisocial and someone absolutely worthy of knowing on a personal level.
I'm so excited for rewrites tbh, especially for her ^^ thanks for the excuse to ramble!

❣️, 💘, 💓!
hi, thanks for the ask! :) sorry it took me so long to get to it though, I've been way busier than I expected. I'm also totally making this up on the fly, since the ship is like. a week old. also sorry this is super long I'm on mobile so I can't add a Read More
❣️ When did your OC first realise they were in love? How did they react to the realisation?
Kallisto had a celebrity crush on the Pact Commander™ for a while, but the idolisation faded pretty quickly after meeting Efalynn and starting to work with her and the rest of Dragon's Watch. (don't ask me about timeline details I haven't figured that out yet) it took maybe a couple months for Kallisto to develop proper feelings for Efy, but she realised pretty quickly when she did, since she'd had a couple relationships in the past. her reaction was basically "yeah, that checks out". her love (both platonic and romantic) is won easily, and she has a lot to give.
Efalynn took much longer, both to fall in love and to realise it. 1) she's greyromantic so she'd never had a crush before, 2) she's been super stressed and busy with the constant threat of. yknow. the world ending. which as you might be able to guess, is not the best environment to figure out your feelings. and 3) she... didn't really like Kallisto at first? they weren't enemies, in fact Kallisto considered her a friend from basically day one, but Efalynn felt like Kallisto was trying to take her place in Dragon's Watch, and that it was a comment on her abilities. not the most rational, but she was in a bad place emotionally for almost all the story. I think Efy only realised after Icebrood Saga, when she finally got to rest (although that's not set in stone yet. timeline reasons) and her reaction was the fanfiction classic: the "oh. OH." ...which was quickly followed by a whole heap of nervousness about whether Kallisto liked her back and what she should do
💘 What do they love most about their partner(s)? What do their partner(s) love most about them?
Efalynn loves how protective Kallisto is. it's second nature for her as a guardian, and they both know Efy does Not need protecting. but she's been treating herself badly for a long time (not actively, more like not getting enough sleep, eating badly, throwing herself into danger when she could be more careful, taking on too much responsibility and refusing help. that kind of thing). so she really appreciates Kallisto taking care of her in a way that isn't overbearing or patronising. it's very comforting, and she isn't the only one Kallisto is protective over, so it's nice to see other people get that comfort too. Efy also loves Kallisto's practically unshakeable confidence and her sense of style
Kallisto loves Efalynn's enthusiasm and her curiosity when it comes to things she's interested in. she barely knows a thing about necromancy but she'll ask questions anyway just to watch the way Efalynn's face lights up as she gets talking. Efy was very serious, almost grumpy, for the majority of the story, so it's always great to see her enjoy something, and Kallisto can't help but be interested just due to how excited Efy sounds. she also loves Efalynn's strength. at first, it was just admiration for all the things she's accomplished, but after getting to know her, it changed to a huge amount of respect for the way Efalynn always gets up and keeps going because she knows she's helping people and that's what is most important. (also, her physical strength. Efy might be a necromancer but she uses a sword that's bigger than she is, her arms are fantastic)
💓 What is their favourite activity to do together ?
stargazing and cloudwatching. just taking a moment cuddled up together to sit and talk and relax. although at night, Efalynn usually ends up staring at Kallisto instead of the stars because "she looks so pretty when she glows! why would I look at the sky instead??" and Kallisto will get distracted when Efalynn starts making up some story about that cloud that looks a bit like a frog, watching her tell it with the sappiest smile on her face. (these bitches gay! good for them!)
in some nebulous post-canon time when they live together in the middle of nowhere, in a little cottage with a herb garden and a couple of cats, they bake. usually bread, always using something from the garden. there's something so lovely about taking the time to enjoy each other's company and having something delicious to show for it. (not counting the loaves they burned because they lost track of time while kissing oops)

The Anima Mundi
Content mirrors form. The chiasmic connection between immortality and mortality that we meet in Heraclitus is not merely coincidental. What we find here is more explicitly mirrored in perhaps the most difficult passage in Plato—Timaeus 35a–37b—in which the formation of the World Soul (psychē kosmou, anima mundi) is described as the very link between the eternal and the transient. In this most alchemical of Plato’s dialogues, the indivisible (the ‘circle of the same’) is linked to the divisible (‘the circle of difference’) via what he calls ‘the best of possible bonds’ (desmōn de kallistos). When the two circles, which do not want to join, are united, their point of union forms an x or cross (chi). This chiasmus defines the paradoxical juncture of spirit and matter, fire and earth. It is the spiritual point in the material world and the material point in the spiritual world.
In Platonic cosmology, the demiurge or divine artisan brings the infinite and the finite together to form a single point, and the result is the World Soul. In other words, this absolute chiasmic juncture is the very thing that animates the world (anima mundi). The world soul, moreover, is mirrored in the Platonic conception of the embodied soul, which is precisely conceived as a mean term between the divine and the human. It puts human perception in a privileged but also torn condition, enabling perspective on both the metaphysical and the physical worlds.
Through its ‘counter-stretched harmony’, the taut and tensile human psychē mirrors the macrocosmic chiasmus. Herein, the tension that mitigates against unity is secretly vital to its greater integrity. Like the dissonant seventh in musical harmony, tension anticipates the resolution of the fundamental tonos in the octave, while simultaneously maintaining perfect distance and equilibrium. Like the divine artisan, the human soul must not only wed the eternal to the transient, it must comprehend life’s grandest structures through its most contradictory details. Like the artisan, the artist embraces contradiction to encompass the feeling of infinity.
The counter-stretched nature of creation was sensed very keenly in modern times by Andrei Tarkovsky, the great Russian filmmaker who likened film to ‘sculpting in time’, and directing to literally being able to ‘separate light from darkness’ and ‘dry land from the waters’ (Genesis 1: 9–18).‘The work of art’, remarks Tarkovsky, ‘lives and develops, like any other natural organism, through the conflict of opposing principles’.
Hideousness and beauty are contained within each other. This prodigious paradox, in all its absurdity, leavens life itself, and in art makes that wholeness in which harmony and tension are unified. The image makes palpable a unity in which manifold different elements are contiguous and reach over into each other. […] The idea of infinity cannot be expressed in words or even described, but it can be apprehended through art, which makes infinity tangible. The absolute is only attainable through faith and in the creative act.
Tumblr media
(Image: Arthea (Elena Frasca Odorizzi)
Proceeding through opposition, art makes infinity tangible. All authentic ars, all traditional technē, seek to render the universal creative act present through finite creation. Here, we take ars and technē in their archaic senses, in which both ‘art’ and ‘craft/technology’ were not dualised, but were each seen to participate in the divine intelligence (nous, epistemē, scientia), and by virtue of this were distinguished from artless labour (atechnos tribē). According to the medieval dictum ars sine scientia nihil (art is nothing without knowledge), no separation was made between a work of art per se and ordinary, ‘utilitarian’ objects, as is the case in the modern world; rather, handcrafted objects were not soullessly manufactured, but transformed into works of art through the very act ofpoēsis (creation). They were vivified, hence life-giving. The false dichotomy between high art and low technology has come about precisely because manufactured objects (cheirotechnē) are no longer made by hand: they have lost their soul, their animating connection to the human and transcendent. As the Alsatian Hermetic philosopher, René Schwaller de Lubicz, once remarked:
If someone were to tell you that mechanised civilisation clouds the soul, this would be an affirmation without practical impact. On the other hand, if I say to you that mechanised civilisation clouds and even kills consciousness, you will comprehend this warning: if between yourself and the object of your labour you interpose an automatic tool which eliminates your will and above all your sensibility, all living contact between you and the fashioned material is cut off. The artisan no longer ‘feels’ (sent) and no longer comprehends the wood, the leather, the metal, his work is inanimate; it cannot emanate nor radiate any life for it has not received any. You must then resort to analyses, to statistical studies of the qualities of the material relinquished to the automatism of the machine, for you have stretched a veil between yourself and the thing; and although the thing subsists, you—the conscious living being—lose your life by suffocating your consciousness. It is the same with the doctor, who must sympathetically feel (éprouver) his patient’s illness, or otherwise become a mechanic. Observe the phases of history: the most fruitful, the most genial and the most ‘living’ epochs have always had a flourishing community of artisans. The Consciousness of a people can only be renewed through the crafts and not through doctrines. Mechanised civilisation is the agony of the world.
Plato, as Coomaraswamy reminds us, ‘knows nothing of our distinction of fine from applied arts. For him painting and agriculture, music and carpentry and pottery are all equally kinds of poetry or making’ (poēsis).
Ars and technē thus conceived are not merely mirrors or simulacra, but instruments and instances of creation, of making infinity tangible. Creation, in this sense, is regarded as continuous and ever-present, and all true creativity is thus participation in the ever-presence of origin. The artist creates an image of the absolute, according to Tarkovsky, and ‘through the image is sustained an awareness of the infinite: the eternal within the finite, the spiritual within matter, the limitless given form’. The animating paradox at the heart of life is thus the hidden ferment through which harmony and tension are unified.

Your EDM Playlist: Task Horizon’s Got the Evolution Chamber Firing on All Cylinders
With the dearth of gigs as it has been this year, some D&B fans might think that artists are not listening to much music and definitely not planning sets but that couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything producers, just like fans, are listening to every track they can get their hands on, making playlists and planning sets. It keeps the creativity flowing for them while, of course, helping to stay positive and ready for the next gig, whenever it may come.
Task Horizon(TH) have just released a nutter of a new EP called Raised By Robots on their Evolution Chamber imprint and said EP is so heavy on the destructive dancefloor vibes. The melodic raviness of “Legacy,” the neuro madness of “Shrink Ray,” the hurricane synths of “Mindfragger” and the 80s sci fi vibes of “Drowning In Fire”; the whole EP already sounds like part of a sick set. That made us wonder what other chestnust TH are sitting on, what they’re hoarding for future sets and what kind of playlist gets them pumped. They definitely delivered.
This fast and furious playlist from the Swiss neuromancers is not only epically fun to listen to, but they’ve also given some insight on how they choose tracks for sets and what they think makes a stand-out track. Buckle up, the Evolution Chamber is definitely giving up the good today.
Task Horizon – Legacy
This Tune brings us back. An old school approach to D&B production with modern tools. It’s been many years since we made a tune around such a ravey Melody. Also we wanted the drums to sound similar to the amen break without actually using one. Playing it out on one of the few gigs we had this year, it created a unique vibe on the dancefloor which we haven’t experienced in a long time.
youtube
Magnetude – Trail of Tears
Our favorite producers in the game and we couldn’t be more proud to have them on our label Evolution Chamber. We might be biased but “Trail of Tears” is also the tune of the year for us. Words can not do this masterpiece justice.
youtube
Killbox – Epicentre
Absolute stinker of a tune! Definitely gonna stay in our set for some time. Really looking forward to seeing what else they have in store for the rest of their new album coming out on Ram Records this year.
youtube
Task Horizon – Shrink Ray
We love the futuristic and at the same time catchy vibes of this one. How the melody dances over the dystopian low end and minimalistic grooves. There are tons of love for details in it. The arrangement is also very unusual but still DJ-friendly. Gives a nice crowd reaction and is all in all our second favorite tune from the Raised By Robots EP.
youtube
Fourward – Deep Inside
We have always been a fan of Fourward and their work. This one gives a nice crowd reaction. The drop with the frenetic vocals is just perfect. Out on Elevate Records.
youtube
Task Horizon – We Are One A personal favorite of ours that we released on Ram Records this year . This one went kinda under the radar, so if you haven’t heard this one go check it out.
youtube
Mefjus & Camo & Krooked – Kallisto
Masterpiece from an epic line up of producers. We love how this one feels unencumbered and effortless builds a bridge between dancefloor and sofa listening. We reach for this track to show to people we know that have never heard of D&B.
youtube
Magnetude – Falling
Jesus, we love this track so much. Such an honor to release this one on Evolution Chamber and been playing it out exclusively for over a year. Always a good crowd reaction, a great color in every set and fantastic to mix. Also it was fascinating to see how Rustam and James evolved the Tune from the first idea to the final masterpiece.
youtube
Ekwols – Runes Loving the vibes of this tune. Ekwols shows us how to make uplifting D&B without sounding cheesy and predictable. He is definitely on our watch list since this one.
youtube
Task Horizon – Disintegrate
Rough, raw and heavy. Transforms beautiful faces into ugly faces and instantly gets our gun-fingers out! Released on the Hack The Planet EP earlier this year, we always come back to this one and use it to decimate dancefloors.
youtube
Raised By Robots is out now on Evolution Chamber on Beatport and Spotify exclusive. Stream or purchase now here. The EP will drop on all other platforms October 10.
