#Obligatory eddsworld reference#Cruddy rambles#Also I actually think I started the show in 2017? Cuz I remember there only being 2 full episodes on wco#Discord would probably be able to say for sure but it's not worth the mental health deterioration to check lol#But yeah I remember talking shit like oh God they made it Bad like teen titans go#And then I watched the episodes#Got to the end of the meat origami episode#And was like. Ah. Fuck. This is really great actually#I remembering nerding out about Leo's One Piece reference in ep1 and that's when I realized this show was awesome

🍕🐢 I try to answer all asks, but it can take up to several weeks. If you haven't received an answer, try resending it! 🐢🍕
Yo, I wanna start to properly tag screenshots with characters and episodes for archiving purposes (my beloved) but I don't always remember the episode and the screenshots on my computer no longer have the episode title in the name
Do you think you can help me by naming the episode in the comments/reblogs of the screenshots posted sometime?
EDIT: If I already attempted to tag an episode and couldn't remember the title, I will leave a #to tag
If you see I mistagged something, don't be afraid to let me know as well!

I dont know if it's to late to ask, but is GitS Rise episode chapters going from broadcast order or production code order?
NEITHER because both are incorrect! Both put Lair Games before Many Unhappy Returns. I'm going in an order based on a list I found when I first watched the show, which is the order I watched it in! It makes the most sense to me, timeline-wise. I can no longer find said list, but I can just. List out the episode order I'm going by. Italicized are the episodes I've already passed/written, depending. Striked out are ones where Ghost wasn't involved.

RotTMNT Episode Timeline: Season 1
My 6th timeline so far, seems the least flawed at the moment so I’m going to post it. Reasoning under the cut!
Turtle Tots
-happens pre series
Mystic Mayhem
-first official episode in the series
-they didn’t go out trying to be heroes, but are proud of being heroes when they accomplish one (1) thing (not important, but adorable)
Origami Tsunami
-either the second or third episode, no later than that
-introduces them deciding to become heroes, but doesn’t introduce their characters the way mystic mayhem does
War and Pizza
-no turtle tank or other mutated villains mentioned
-raph’s powers are very new to where he can’t activate them, mustve just gotten his weapon
-COULD be before origami tsunami because April gets fired then is looking for a new job, but I am unsure, and it’s easier to say origami comes first
Donnie's Gifts
-is pre tank, meat sweats also seems to be their first encounter with a mutant in a villain capacity
Newsworthy
-HAS to happen early, because this is pre hypno part deux which is also pre tank
Minotaur Maze
-HAS to also happen early, because again, pre tank reveal
Shell in a Cell
-I put it here for another introduction to happen early, but namely after Minotaur Maze cause raph and leo have some unresolved tension by the end of that episode that could’ve added more fuel to the fire in this episode, where they finally resolve the issues
Repo Mantis
-HAPPENS AT THE SAME TIME AS HYPNO PART DEUX
-spans about 4 days
Hypno! Part Deux!
-HAPPENS AT THE SAME TIME AS REPO MANTIS (during one of the 4 days)
-raph and leo have made up fully yay!
The Gumbus
-The turtle tank is a massive undertaking, so my HC is that Donnie isn’t in this episode cause hes working on it (maybe raph is doing some heavy lifting for don)
-the other non-Donnie episodes don’t work due to other plot things stopping them (you got served is later in season 1, nothing but truffle has to be AFTER Lou Jitsu the game)
-also, an introduction episode, which makes sense earlier in the season
The Purple Jacket
-if Donnie had a fully functional turtle tank full of lethal weapons, why would the purple dragons NOT steal it?
-and if they didn’t steal it, why would don depend on april’s bike for transport and not a shell hog??
-has to be pre tank, but my hc is near the finish of the tank, cause riding in april’s bike reminds Donnie why he wants a tank so bad
The Fast and the Furriest
-TURTLE TANK REVEAL
-has to be BEFORE every episode with the tank (a pretty good number of them) so is early series but has several buildup episodes before it
Down with the Sickness
-splinter gets sick cause of meat sweats
-could go basically anywhere but I like it here
Mascot Melee
-weird to put right after don gets mad at his dad, but down with the sickness likely provides a week or a few between the episodes before n after, since splinter now has to take care of his 4 sick sons
-taking care of said sick sons likely makes his robe fucked to all hell
-while splinter does mention training them, implying the episode happens later, this episode HAS to happen pre bug busters due to the appearance of the mascot mutants in bug busters
The Longest Fight
-Is clearly the second encounter with the foot the boys have had, given their overconfidence taking them on and raph’s confusion/dialogue about them not stealing paper
-this episode also introduces the motive of the foot, which tv show story wise, should happen earlier
-could be after bug busters but I think it’s before
Bug Busters
-introduces big mama/the hotel
-is early series, but all the mutants pictured by big mama as well as the tank must happen before this episode
-This means it has to happen after Turtle Tots, Mystic Mayhem, Origami Tsunami, Donnie's Gifts, Newsworthy, Minotaur Maze, Repo Mantis, Hypno! Part Deux!, The Fast and the Furriest, and Mascot Melee due to either meeting the pictured mutant or the tank timeline
WARNING: TIMELINE GETS LESS SURE THIS POINT ONWARD
(I begin placing things that make more sense based on a story, less based on physical evidence such as cameos/appearances)
Stuck on You
-after bug busters when leo goes rogue and they’re barely able to agree on a plan, raph decides they need to team build!
-thus… this
Mrs. Cuddles
-happens likely before nothing but truffle, and cloak and swaggart as this is an intro episode
-I put here cause don isn’t working on shelldon yet but can go anywhere basically? It’s the first reference that splinter isn’t just the lazy fat man he seems to be
-splinter and raph hanging out likely helped uplift him after being sad in stuck on you, plus prank could be revenge for doing that to the poor boys
Race
-I just put it earlier in the series cause of leo’s portaling inability. Def happens in season 1 cause of mayhem
Pizza Pit
-has to happen before Bullhop and Claok and Swaggart
-putting here cause after the first failed attempt at team bonding, clearly raph needed to make up for the discomfort of the stuck on you episode. Also pizza week!
May 2018: Bullhop
-happens in either May 2018 or January 2019, but I think season 1 is supposed to be entirely in 2018?
-the date is based on the calendar we see. We essentially see almost an entire week, and can determine the 6th is on a Sunday with the 12th on the next Saturday. Then look at the months in 2018 where those numbers fall on those days!
-pre smart lair, cause otherwise shelldon would’ve likely been seen trying to clean up bullhops mess
-episodes between this and bug busters were likely harder for leo to enjoy cause of his guilt about bullhop, he decides they have to help him (he regets)
Hot Soup: The Game
-casey intro episode
-seems mid show, but has to be before nothing but truffle and all other casey episodes
Smart Lair
-donnie made shelldon! Woo! He didn’t like cleaning up after bullhop it was a nightmare
The Evil League of Mutants
-reawakening of splinter’s body dysmorphia but also him beginning to try to be a better dad
-them finding out LJ is their dad
-Draxum’s motives changing from mutate all the humans and destroy his sons to find dark armor
Late Fee
-splinter gives sons a simple task n offers hugs. Is post shell in a cell, but other than that? Just. Can go anywhere again. I put it here.
Sparring Partner
-after evil league of mutants, raph wanted to spar more than his brothers usually want to. He got an idea from all the foot soldiers thus, this episode!
-has to happen post LJ: the game cause of casey
Nothing But Truffle
-has to be post Lou Jitsu: the game cause mikey goes on his own without raph, likely after he yelled at raph dr delicate touch style for bursting in on his first solo mission
Man Vs. Sewer
-is pre shadows of evil cause of the reference to “shady past” in terms of splinter: they don’t know his ID yet
-post evil league cause of crab brothers
Mind Meld
-has to be post shelldon and post purple dragons
-here cause donnie’s frustration at his brothers for stealing tires could carry over to why he wanted to fundamentally change them
Al Be Back
-post evil league of mutants cause of splinter’s increased effort to spend time with his sons (joining their band), pre shadows of evil cause IF LOU JITSU OFFERED TO BE IN UR BAND YOU’D SAY YES IMMEDIETLY so they clearly don’t know yet
-here cause Donnie joining in on brother’s tomfoolery as an apology to brothers and to repair the damage he did, ends up having genuine fun
-leo is more sus of donnie’s mistakes with tech cause of recent still healing brother bond wounds mayhaps?
Portal Jacked!
-THIS IS PRE YOU GOT SERVED
-leo’s portaling abilities are similar to “Mutant Menace” where he can summon big portals, but this is beforehand cause he’s less sure about summoning those portals and easier to portal jack overall
-hueso doesn’t like leo at all at the start. This episode is what makes him and leo closer, thus he asks leo for help in you got served
C.O.W.A.B.U.N.G.A.
-post nothing but truffle, because mikey’s fanboyness is toned down, the betrayal likely fresh in his mind
-can really go anywhere tho, season 1 or 2
The Purple Game
-post shelldon!!
-likely later on cause of leo’s successful portal and raph’s large mutant form, showing their mystic powers growth
Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man
-pre shadows of evil cause splinter doesn’t yet know his boys are fighting crime (“what have you boys been up to??”)
-post evil league of mutants cause splinter’s body dysmorphia is fresher than at the start of the series (my hc is it got a bit worse before he had an evil to face, aka between evil league of mutants and shadows of evil) and he’s actively trying to spend time with his sons more even if he’s not exactly good at it yet
Shadow of Evil
-HELPS DIFFERENTIATE MORE PLOT cause boys find out a lot of info, so episodes where they don’t know said info must come beforehand
Jupiter Jim Ahoy!
-happens post shadows of evil cause boys know Splinter aka Dad = Lou Jitsu aka DnA donar
-the allure of dad is LJ is fading fast cause they’re remembering their dads a bit lame, but they still love him
Operation: Normal
-no boots exist in shadows of evil on the armor, thus this is AFTER shadows of evil, but BEFORE bending enemies to your will
Raph's Catchphrase
-post meeting and getting used to Cassandra as an enemy, but pre how to make enemies cause Cassandra isn’t draxum’s minion atm, she’s still with the flame heads
The Mutant Menace
-has to be post AI be back, takes stockboy out for the rest of the season
-other than that, this placement is p general, put here to space out armor episodes
How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will
-post shadows of evil
-pre warren and hypno (via the shredder armor, it doesn’t have any hands yet)
Mystic Library
-LATE series, because of raph’s adept use of his mystic powers
-the foot guys messing with the turtles is maybe a power trip cause they feel more powerless with draxum in charge? That’s more of a HC though
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek
-post shadows of evil, because splinter is training the boys more seriously
Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree
-post shadows of evil and how to make ppl bend to your will
-April’s birthday episode!!! Now if only I could put a concrete date to the episode-
-armor is closer to being finished, but not actually visualized
You Got Served
-happens after portal jacked due to the nature of leo and hueso’s relationship then vs this episode
December 2018-March 2019: Snow Day
-has to happen after late fee but??? No idea otherwise
-it’s just. Here. Cause idk where else to put it
-theres NO OTHER indication of seasons???? It snows for 1 day and never snows again??
One Man's Junk
-boys know about mystic armor (are actively trying to find it), thus post Shadow of Evil
-we don’t see the armor in this episode, so hard to tell how far it’s completed, presumably a lot though
-unlike warren stone where they came across the armor, they’re actively searching, likely cause they can feel the proverbial end of the road approaching
Cloak and Swaggart
-sandro brothers are seen w/o mutation, BUT splinter is taking the boys on a serious camping trip?? Also the thing with sunita’s boots having to be after shadows of evil… Seems to conflict with each other
-thus I am going with the idea that the Sandro brothers are wearing cloaking brooches
-otherwise this would fuck with everything so hard
-putting it down here so there’s a more even spread of sunita and a break between plot stuff
Insane in the Mama Train
-end of season 1, happens after everything else
End Game
-end of season 1, happens after everything else

I will forever be disappointed at the absolute lack of Mikey and Leo episodes in rise, I can literally only think of 2 off the top of my head, but I love the fact that they show the relationship in other, more subtle ways. What do I mean? I’m so glad you asked, MIKEY COPIES A LOT OF LEOS CATCHPHRASES AND MANNERISMS AND IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME THANK YOU
Okay so. I agree with you 110% that we need more of Leo and Mikey. They have the sweetest relationship and I love the way Mikey mirrors Leo. He copied so much of his big brother and I hope to highlight that relationship soon.
However!
This ask for me thinking about which brothers got the most screen time. So I made this.
A comprehensive list of all the episode. Listed by what relationship is highlighted. If one stands out more then the others I have set them to the side as a focus.
All brothers
Origami Tsunami (1,2a) (focus on Leo leading)
Donnie's Gifts (1,2b)
Mascot Melee (1,5b)
Shell in a Cell (1,6a) (Raph vs Leo, Donnie vs Mikey)
Minotaur Maze (1,6b) (Leo focused)
Bug Busters (1,7) (Raph vs Leo leadership focus). (NOTE: the episode doesn’t play them against each other but more highlights the differences in their leadership/seeing the world)
The Longest Fight (1,8a)
Stuck on You (1,10a) (Raph leadership)(it highlights all the brothers but the episode does focus on Raph just a bit more as it is his plan)
Pizza Pit (1,11b) (Raph lead)
Smart Lair (1,12a) (Donnie focus)
Bullhop (1,14b)
Mind Meld (1,15a) (Donnie focused)
Sparring Partner (1,18b) (Raph focused)
Mystic Library (1,20a)
The Purple Game (1,20b) (Donnie focused)
Man VS. Sewer (1,21a) (Raph and Leo) (looks as savage Raph and Leo’s ability to lead)
The Mutant Menace (1,21b)
One Man's Junk (1,23a) (Raph and Leo vs Donnie and Mikey)
Jupiter Jim Ahoy! (1,24b)
Todd Scouts (2,2a)
Pizza Puffs (2,5b)
Sidekick Ahoy! (2,6a)
The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle (2,10b)
All brothers plus April
Mystic Mayhem (1,1)
War and Pizza (1,3a) (all brothers) (april focused)
Al Be Back (1,10b)
Snow Day (1,23b) (Raph, Leo, and Mikey vs Donnie, April, and Mayhem
Air Turtle (2,5a) (Leo focused)
All brothers and Splinter
Down with the Sickness (1,4b) (Raph focused)
The Fast and the Furriest (1,5a)
The Evil League of Mutants (1,13)
Late Fee (1,14a)
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek (1,22b)
Flushed, but Never Forgotten (2,3a)
Hamato clan
Mrs. Cuddles (1,9b) (Raph focused)
Shadow of Evil (1,16)
Insane in the Mama Train (1,25)
End Game (1,26)
Many Unhappy Returns (2,1) (Leo focused)
Lair Games (2,3b) (Leo and Donnie)
Battle Nexus: New York (2,11)
E-Turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2,12)
Shreddy or Not (2,13)
Anatawa Hitorijanai (2,14)
Rise (2,15)
Donnie and Mikey
Repo Mantis (1,4a)
Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man (1,22a) (Splinter)
Raph and Leo
Hypno! Part Deux (1,8b) (April stars as well)
Leo and Mikey
The Gumbus (1,9a) (April as well)
You Got Served (1,19a)
Donnie and April
The Purple Jacket (1,11a)
Donnie vs. Witch Town (2,8b)
Mikey
Hot Soup: The Game (1,12b) (Cassie)
Nothing But Truffle (1,15b)
Leo
Portal Jacked! (1,17a)
The Hidden City Job (2,6b)
Bad Hair Day (2,9b)
Donnie
Breaking Purple (2,4a)
Raph
Raph's Ride-Along (2,8a)
April focused
Operation: Normal (1,18a) (Leo and Donnie)
Cloak and Swaggart (1,24a)
Always Be Brownies (2,7a) (Splinter and Cassie)
Fists of Furry (2,10a) (Splinter)
Villain spotlight
Newsworthy (1,3b) (villain focused)
Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree (1,17b)
How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will (1,19b) (Draxum and Cassie)
Goyles, Goyles, Goyles (2,2b) (origin story)
Mikey and Draxum
Repairin' the Baron (2,4b) (plus Raph)
Mystery Meat (2,7b) (April)
Hidden City's Most Wanted (2,9a) (Splinter)
You will notice that Leo gets the most solo episodes by himself. Normally this is when he is with Señor Hueso and we see Leo growing into himself
Donnie has a lot of episodes focused on him but he can’t stand on his own his story is driven by his relationships
Raph is almost never alone and has one episodes where it is just him and one of his brothers. But it focuses on them helping April not thei relationship to each other.
Donnie and Leo never have an episode alone! They have the one where they are helping April but it isn’t focused on them and their relationship.
Raph and Leo never stand alone (we get two one when they are facing off and one where they are working together)
Mikey and Raph never get an episode (and we were going to get one!)
Raph and Donnie are never together (they have one episode where they play against each other and one where they are with each other) never a solo episode.
So while I agree we need more Mikey and Leo we also need more of all of them together and paired off. There was so much more this show could have done if they only had time.

Updated Rise of the TMNT Rankings List
After re-watching Rottmnt for probably like the fifth or sixth time now, I decided to update my rankings list because I have made some changes. If you see numbers besides the rankings, that is how many spots they have moved up or down since my last rankings
Top 10/S-Tier (aka the best of the best; the ones that made me laugh, cry or a combination of the two)
Rise
Lair Games (+1)
The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle (+1)
Anatawa Hitorijani (-2)
Mystic Library
Insane in the Mama Train (+5) (animation is so amazing and the boys in their Hamato outfits is just *chefs kiss*)
Hidden City's Most Wanted (+3)
End Game (-2)
The Evil League of Mutants (-1)
Battle Nexus: New York (+2)
Amazing/A-Tier (Not enough to make top 10 but ones that I would still rewatch over and over again and that I love and adore so much)
The Fast and the Furriest (+15) (I love this one so much and I can't really explain why it's just makes me laugh every time)
The Purple Game (-3)
Shreddy or Not (+1)
Shadow of Evil (-1)
The Purple Jacket (+6) (Donnie just being Donnie…need I say more)
Turtle-Dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man (+6) (Mikey and Donnie are amazing as always and that scene between Splinter and Donnie gets me every time)
Cloak and Swabgart (+10) (So wish we got more Sunita and April adventures because they work so well together)
Flushed but Never Forgotten (-2)
Bug Busters
Man vs Sewer (-2)
Pizza Puffs (-6) (Still a really funny episode and amazing just not as much as it used to be)
Great/B-Tier (Still love these episodes but not enough that they are my favorites. Great but not top tier)
Donnie vs Witch Town (+5)
Down with the Sickness (-4)
One Man's Junk (+4)
How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will (+5)
The Gumbus (+32) (Leo and Mikey have made me love this episode so much; not to mention the animation in this episode is just straight up amazing)
Breaking Purple (+5)
Mind Meld (+5)
Stuck on You (+5)
Operation: Normal(+9) (It's the Disaster twins I had to include it in the great list)
The Mutant Menace (+9) (any adventures in the Turtle Tank are always a plus)
E-Turtle of the Spotless Mind (-10) (sorry but the other three parts of just better in my opinion, though I still love for what it did with Splinter's character)
Good/C-Tier (Episodes that are sort of middle tier and just only good but that I still enjoyed, sometimes)
Smart Lair (-3)
Mystic Mayhem (+3)
Repo Mantis (+8) (Donnie and Mikey aka PB & J duo make this episode for me)
Reparin the Baron (+14) (I love Mikey and Draxum in this episode)
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek (+10)
Late Fee (-14) (sorry but this episode is just too silly for me now the more that I watch it)
Mystery Meat (+12) (April, Draxum, and Mikey are just the ultimate dream team)
Sparring Partner (+14) (Raph is just too much of a sweetheart)
Mrs. Cuddles (+11) (Mrs. Cuddles is terrifying and I love it)
Hot Soup: The Game (+7)
The Hidden City Job (-8)
Raph's Ride Along (-10) (again too silly and the hidden city police are just so dumb it's bothers me to no end. Raph is still amazing though)
Shell in a Cell (+3)
Bullhop (-10)
Snow Day (-7)
Fists of Furry (-7)
The Longest Fight (-5)
Donnie's Gifts (-5)
Origami Tsuanami (-5)
Always Be Brownies (+1)
Pizza Pit (-12) (Mikey is the only good part of this episode. Everything is is just...eh)
Sidekick Ahoy! (+16) (I don't know why but this episode has grown on me)
You Got Served! (+3)
Portal Jacked (+1)
Meh/Ok (D-Tier) (Bottom of the pack. Not necessarily bad episodes but just ones that are just simply ok and don't have much for rewatch value)
Air Turtle (+1)
Warren and Hypno, Sitting in A Tree (-4)
Todd Scouts
Bad Hair Day
Goyles, Goyles, Goyles
Jupiter Jim Ahoy! (+1)
Minotaur Maze (-1)
Mascot Melee (+3)
Nothing But Truffle (+5) (not as bad as it used to be but still kinda meh. I hate seeing my baby Mikey cry but he was also kind of a jerk in this episode)
War and Pizza (+3)
Hypno Part Deux (-3)
Al Be Back (-2)
Newsworthy (-1) (Just an overall boring episode and I really do not like Warren Stone. This is one of those episodes that I would definitely not be re-watching unless I'm just in the mood)
This was once again very hard to make as I like some of this episodes equally and my top 20 could honestly interchanged. They are all just that good and amazing. Safe to say that I miss this show so much and I am just hoping that we get some news soon regarding whether or not there will be a season 3. Or at least put season 2 on Netflix. If not, then I am satisfied with what was given to us and I am grateful everyday for this show and my beloved turtle babies.

Okay, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while but kept getting derailed. Thankfully I’m fully caught up on Rise (though it took me forever) and I was able to mostly sort out the in-universe order for the episodes.
Because fun fact-- something I noticed way back in season 1-- is that the episodes weren’t released in in-universe order. This was true on cable, this has held true on netflix and hbo-max paramount+ (I goofed, oops), and while [turtlepedia] does have them listed in tv broadcast order and has the episode production codes listed, neither of those entirely match up with the various in-episode context clues for what order things happen in.
And believe me, some of those context clues, those in-episode “signposts” are subtle enough to be blink-and-you’ll-miss-it details (like the fact that the background video for Donnie and Mikey in Hypno! Part Deux! implies that it’s happening at the same time as Repomantis). Needless to say it’s taken a lot of work and a lot of paying attention. And thankfully season 2 wasn’t as all over the place (mainly due to more of the episodes not having any distinct signposts beyond things that made it obvious they took place after season 1).
(I’ve done my best to get it as nailed down as possible. Episodes that occur at the same time are listed on the same bulletpoint in recommended watching order.)
So good news if you’re like me and you’d like to watch the episodes in in-universe order, because this is that list!
Without further ado, I give you:
The In-Universe Rise Episode Timeline
Season 1:
Mystic Mayhem
Origami Tsunami
Donnie’s Gifts
Smart Lair
War And Pizza
Newsworthy
Repomantis & Hypno! Part Deux!
Down With The Sickness (Due to not really having any more than one possible signpost, this one could take place either before or after the previous point or The Purple Jacket. I don’t think it’s any later than that, but it’s debatable.)
The Purple Jacket
Minotaur Maze
The Longest Fight
The Fast And The Furriest
Stuck On You
Hot Soup: The Game
Mascot Melee
The Gumbus
Shell In A Cell
Pizza Pit
Bug Busters
Mrs. Cuddles (Like Down With The Sickness this one has very few signposts, only two that I spotted and one of those is debatable, but it does take place sometime after The Fast And The Furriest.)
Al Be Back
The Evil League of Mutants
Late Fee
Bullhop
Portal Jacked!
Mind Meld
Nothing But Truffle
Warren And Hypno, Sitting In A Tree
Shadow Of Evil
You Got Served
Operation: Normal
The Mutant Menace
Sparring Partner (This is another one where the placement isn’t entirely certain, but it is after Origami Tsunami, The Fast and the Furriest, and Shadow of Evil.)
How To Make Enemies And Bend People To Your Will
Mystic Library (This is another one where there aren’t enough signposts to be sure where this one belongs exactly, but this was my best guess.)
The Purple Game
Jupiter Jim Ahoy!
Cloak and Swaggert
Man Vs. Sewer
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek
Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man
One Man’s Junk
Snow Day (Yet another one where the time placement isn’t certain and this is my best guess, though it does take place sometime after Late Fee and possibly Jupiter Jim Ahoy!)
Insane in the Mama Train
End Game
Season 2
Many Unhappy Returns
Todd Scouts
Goyles, Goyles, Goyles
Flushed But Never Forgotten
Lair Games
Breaking Purple
Repairin’ the Baron
Air Turtle
Pizza Puffs
Sidekick Ahoy!
The Hidden City Job
Always Be Brownies
Mystery Meat
Donnie vs. Witch-Town, Raph’s Ride-Along, Hidden City’s Most Wanted, Bad Hair Day
Fists of Furry
The Clothes Don’t Make the Turtle
Battle Nexus: New York
Finale Part 1: E-Turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Finale Part 2: Shreddy or Not
Finale Part 3: Anatawa Hitorijanai
Finale Part 4: Rise
Rise of the TMNT, the movie
Go forth and enjoy!
(And if anyone wants my rationalization on any of this, just hit me up and I can go in detail.)

Anime Update V2 7
Noragami - While Bishamon and her forces are still after Yato, and Hiyori is contemplating if she has any business in this affair or if she has to choose between helping Yato or doing what’s best for Yukine, we learn what I already knew - that Yukine is worsening Yato’s blight and it’s slowly killing him - and the more surprising detail about what a “Nora” really is, with the Nora we know being only one who Yato is personally acquainted with. There was some action against a moth phantom at the very end, but I couldn’t really get into it since I was still stuck on how Yukine got caught stealing charity money at a convenience store. Around Christmas time. What a fucking douche!
Hunter x Hunter - Two episodes focused on the same challenge.
1999: Another case of this series adapting a setup but then kind of doing its own thing with it. The “kill and cook the giant rhino-pigs” part was kept in, but Menchi stays out of it and instead gives a whole new challenge based on making sushi, with none of the sushi that gets made meeting her impossibly high gourmet standards. Which on one hand needlessly stretches this out, but on the other hand makes a bit more sense than her never liking roasted meat that her partner always likes just fine. Menchi herself is a highlight here, especially when voiced by the always wonderful Carol Anne Day in the dub.
2011: I appreciated how the giant rhino-pigs actually looked like fucking pigs here rather than being more rhino-like. This time, Menchi being unable to be pleased goes by faster in the meat tasting before she just fails everyone, and then it went further than the ‘99 anime episode got when the chairman of the Hunter Exam himself arrives on the scene to propose a make-up challenge. To my horror, though, he’s voiced by John Snyder doing his Detective Ooishi voice, and it’s even less suitable for this character since he’s a really old man! Amanda Celine Miller voiced Menchi in this dub, and she does fine.
Love Live! Nijigasaki - Got two episodes out of the way, one that was focused on sexy sleepyhead Konoe and her younger sister, who’s also a School Idol for another school, and the other that focused on Shizuku as she grappled with her identity, both as a School Idol and on a personal level, and got to be opened up out of her shell by Kasumi, who’s pretty much her girflriend now, I guess. Both episodes followed the basic Nijigasaki formula and included a song with very specific, personal lyrics by the girl in focus, and while both of them worked fine enough because I liked the characters well enough, they weren’t quite as solid as Rina’s episode and continue to showcase how much...less vibrant and cartoonish and more grounded this show feels compared to the previous two Love Live! series’, with even the sentimental moments going fairly soft rather than hard. Can’t say I’m bored with it, but I’m not having nearly as much fun either. Without Jukki Hanada’s magic touch, this continues to be merely an average Cute Girls Doing Cute Things anime.
Date A Live S3 - Very odd choice to open the episode up with the truly jarring spectacle of Origami laughing her ass off at Shido’s distress, and of course it turns out to be Natsumi shapeshifted as Origami, continuing to do as Natsumi does. I love her so much. The real Origami, meanwhile, makes a full transformation into a Spirit, now known as Angel. Tohka almost wipes her out in their fight (a fight where the animation, rather notoriously, looks like shit) but doesn’t land a killing blow because despite what she might say, she’s come to value Origami’s life and cares about her too much. And as Origami comes to grips with having becoming what she seeks to genocide, the episode closes out with...Kurumi?!?! Oooooooh, HELL YEAH!
Fate/Stay Night - We got Shinji pulling the wool over Shirou’s eyes by acting as though he and Rider are NOT behind what’s been going on at school even though he admits the barrier was his doing, Tohsaka deciding she wants to move in with Shirou in order to make communications easier, and Saber outright defying her master in order to go face this witch and mysterious samurai man at the shrine.
Revolutionary Girl Utena - Funniest episode in the show thus far! Every few minutes in this one, from the curry exploding on Utena and Anthy, to the Student Council holding a meeting about that situation in dead seriousness, to Nanami’s posse selling photos of the newly changed Anthy and Utena, to everything having to do with Nanami and her posse’s antics in India in search of the secret spice and getting hounded by elephants at every turn, all the way to the end where we get the comedic payoffs to everything in the episode, I was laughing hard. Utena and Anthy’s VAs actually did a good job playing each other’s role, and the poor voice acting of Nanami, her friends, and Saionji honestly made the whole thing even funnier.
Sound! Euphonium S2 - Kitauji finally went to the Kansai regionals, which if they pass, will allow them to advance to the nationals, the thing Kumiko and Reina could not achieve back in middle school. Asuka makes an impressive, passionate speech about wanting victory so that their music can sound out throughout the nation, and just to hammer home the gay romances, Mizore promises to play for Nozomi, while Reina promises to play NOT for Mr. Taki, but for Kumiko. After another concert, Kitauji wins gold and is chosen to advance to the nationals, bringing Reina much catharsis. Kumiko asks Mizore if she still hates competitions, to which Mizore replies that, as of now, she loves them! Aaaaaaand that’s it for Mizore and Nozomi’s relevance to this show! See you two in Liz & The Blue Bird!
MAR - Seeing Dorothy just being the magnificent bitch that she is as the episode’s opening was a treat, and then we got the continuation and resolution of Ginta VS Ian. Good news is that Snow is now safe and awake, and she is all kinds of adorable, too! Bad news is that Halloween (the Chess Piece, not the holiday) showed up late but in just enough time to retrieve his two comrades and escape. Weird news is that Edward the dog...is actually a vessel for a ruggedly handsome and buff man named Alan, who shares some history with Snow and with the world of MAR in general. What. the actual f...
AMC: Yuki Yuna Is A Hero - For the first time, this episode included no Vertex attacks and no magical girl antics at all. It was just full on Cute Girls Doing Cute Things with focus and character growth on mainly Itsuki, but also on her big sister Fu. Seeing these girls just hang out in their Hero Club room and then go out for karaoke, with everyone having to salute when Togo sings her nationalistic song, and Karin just being Karin really made me appreciate them all the more, and realize how fond of them I am now. Also really liked Itsuki’s singing dilemma, and the way she made it through was so heartwarming and wholesome. But the last minute ending raised questions: the Vertex killed Fu and Itsuki’s parents, and that’s why Fu made a secret pact with the Tarsha in order to get revenge? And what’s the “worst case scenario” that seems close to befalling us?
AND
Happy Sugar Life - Can actually talk about this more clearly this time. Watched Episode 2 around the time of Valentines Day. This is actually a much more interesting show that it had any right to be given the incredibly fucked up premise, mainly owed to the fact that Satou is such an engaging and interesting anti-heroine despite how incredibly fucked up she is. I mean, she’s not a good human being by any measure, but in moments where shit really matters to her, she is painstakingly sincere, one could almost say “pure”, about how much she wants to better understand what love is, how much Shio matters to her, and how fiercely she will fight to protect her love so that her “happy sugar life” goes undisturbed. While at first the story was pitting her up agianst far worse people who make us root for her in bringing them down to the level they deserve to be on via mind games and personal savvy alone, bringing in Shio’s big brother Asahi, an actually decent person who wants his sister back, for Satou to contend with as her arch-antagonist is a welcome shakeup.

Folie à Deux- part three: the potentially thrilling conclusion!
Chef!Hannibal gets his “revenge” on FoodCritic! Will for his scathing review of Hannibal’s new restaurant, folie.
Will parked around the corner from folie at five of eight on Friday night. He got out of the car, tugging at the collar of the tux Bev had shoved him into. His face was shaved within an inch of its life, skin still singing with the scrape of the razor, and he fought the urge to scrub his palms across his cheeks to make it stop.
He started towards the restaurant, checked his watch, then turned around to circle the block because who did Lecter think he was, honestly? 8 p.m. sharp. When he finally came around to the front of the restaurant at 8:15, it was quiet. The dark green fabric shades were drawn over the big plate glass dining room windows. The double doors were shut. There were no lights, no music, no people.
Will frowned and pulled Lecter’s notecard from the inside pocket of his tux jacket. It still read “I would appreciate the pleasure of your company for dinner at folie this Friday night. 8 p.m. sharp.” He put the card back in his pocket and was just about to reach for his cell phone when the doors to folie swung open.
“Mr. Graham,” Hannibal said. “Thank you so much for coming.”
Hannibal smiled then and caught Will’s eye and Will blushed down to his collar. He’d never actually met Lecter, only seen him at a distance at restaurant openings or in print in the society pages. He was even more compelling in person than he’d been on last week’s episode of Conjurer’s Kitchen, which Will definitely didn’t have saved to his phone, where he’d held forth, smiling and arrogant (and handsome), on the supremacy of French buttercream.
Hannibal held the door open for him and stepped to the side. “Please. Come in.”
Will looked past Hannibal into the empty restaurant, face drawing tight with suspicious confusion. “Where’s everyone else?
“I cancelled the gala,” Hannibal said casually. As if it were obvious. As if it meant nothing. “The culinary adventure will be yours and mine tonight.”
“You’ll murder your restaurant with that kind of scandal,” Will muttered, a little stunned.
“Oh, I think you may have already struck it a fatal blow,” Hannibal said, with more cheer than he had any right to. “I thought you might enjoy it if I cooked for you, given your disastrous last supper here, and I didn’t want any distractions.”
Hannibal led Will past rows of empty green chairs and tables and into the kitchen. The overhead lights were dim and every steel surface was set with flickering candles that made the metal gleam. The burning sizzle of the candles and the smooth sweet smell of good wax reminded Will strongly of church.
In the midst of all the cool chrome was a long butcher block table, with one place setting and two chairs, set at an angle to one another at the closest end.
The table itself held a vast glittering repast. Hannibal’s gala menu writ small, Will assumed. It was giving off the most delicious savory-sweet aroma. Will’s mouth watered and he closed his eyes briefly and inhaled, letting the wonderful scent fill him up.
Hannibal watched him for a moment, for the pure enjoyment of it, then pulled out one of the chairs and gestured for Will to take it.
“Your reviews show a true and deep understanding of the things you’re eating,” Hannibal started. “Not yet a completely sophisticated palate, perhaps, but getting there.”
Will gave him an offended little look at that and Hannibal decided to cut his carefully curated remarks short before Will’s irritation could bloom. He really was a remarkably prickly man.
“Well,” he continued, putting a hand on the back of Will’s chair to push it in. “I look forward to your assessment of the menu.”
Will glanced across the table. There were some clearly identifiable dishes- a miniature pastry of some kind; tiny pink cubes, probably watermelon, topped with origami prosciutto; bite-sized medallions of some kind of meat swirled with red- but others were entirely unfamiliar. Was that …jello? With a whole school whitebait embedded in it?
“I’m definitely… intrigued,” Will offered finally.
Hannibal smiled slightly. He took the dark red napkin from beside Will’s plate and shook it out. Instead of handing it to him, however, or draping it over his lap like some over-eager maître d’, he began folding it. First in half, diagonally, and then over on itself until it became something of a long tapered ribbon.
“I wonder if you would indulge me, Mr. Graham,” Hannibal began. “I find that removing sight can enhance the experience of the food. Would you allow me to cover your eyes?”
“How will I see to eat?” Will asked, flat-footed. Certain there were more important questions he should be asking.
“I will feed you, if you’ll allow it.”
“You’re not eating?”
“As I said, I’d like to do whatever I can to make up for your horrible experience with my former underchef, Mr. Gideon, and I don’t want any distractions.”
Will looked up at Hannibal, at his sharp little smile and the lean, predatory line of his body. At the folded fabric stretched loosely between his hands, ominous and exciting.
There was absolutely no legitimate reason for Hannibal to propose this and no possible reason that Will should agree. And yet, he knew he was going to.
“Where is Mr. Gideon now?” Will whispered, closing his eyes and tilting his head back a little so that Hannibal could wrap the crimson cloth over his eyes.
“Departed,” Hannibal said, his voice suddenly hard and cold as the steel that surrounded them. Then, off Will’s anxious expression, a softer and more teasing response. “Departed these meager environs for greener pastures where his mediocrity might be tolerated. A short-order kitchen along the highway somewhere, perhaps.”
Hannibal knotted the folded napkin firmly, then took his seat at Will’s right.
Will flinched when Hannibal moved the chair in closer to the table; the scrape of the wooden legs across the tile floor was enormous.
Then there was the clink of steel on china and a sudden punch of brine.
“This the first thing,” Hannibal started simply, holding out a little silver spoon with a single glistening black pearl cradled in the center.
Will raised his hand automatically, reaching blindly in the direction of Hannibal’s voice to take whatever it was Hannibal was offering. Hannibal caught Will’s wrist and drew it back down, pressing his hand against his thigh again.
“No,” he said. “Let me.”
Will shivered at that, twisted his fingers in the fabric of his trousers to keep his hands still. He opened his mouth a little and Hannibal delicately spooned the small cool orb onto his tongue.
Will pressed the gelid sphere against the roof of his mouth where it popped, releasing a puff of hickory salmon smoke then a wash of savory salt. He hummed with pleasure and licked his lips, chasing the fleeting flavor.
“Caviar gel and Nova smoke,” Hannibal said. It had been terribly tricky to work out how to do it and he couldn’t begin to disguise his pride in the achievement.
There was a sort of busy hush after that and Will opened his eyes in the red haze behind the blindfold. He couldn’t see anything, but he knew Hannibal had gone somewhere. Could feel his absence all along his side like a draft. He heard the gurgle of liquid in a glass just off to his right and turned towards it. Startled a little when the thin rim of a wineglass touched his mouth.
“Drink,” Hannibal encouraged, tilting the glass.
Crisp white wine, thick with cold, bathed his tongue and Will swallowed. Mineral peach and honey lemon. Dry and delicate and smooth.
“Good?” Hannibal inquired.
Will made a small pleased sound and nodded.
“Shall we continue?”
“Yes,” Will answered immediately.
An expectant little pause, as though Hannibal were waiting for something.
“Please?” Will guessed, a flash of warmth blossoming unexpectedly in his belly. He could almost feel Hannibal’s proud answering smile, like sun on his cheek.
Hannibal held out a small warm pastry giving off a fabulously rich and buttery steam.
“Vol au vent,” he offered. “Duxelle and oyster mushrooms sautéed in garlic and brown butter. Picked myself.”
Will opened his mouth eagerly and then closed it again with a sudden snap, frowning. Hickory-smoked salmon and caviar. A long-cellared Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru. He’d had something just like that at Loche Fyne when it had opened. Had gushed over the meal in his review, in fact. But that was what, five years ago? And the duxelle and oyster mushroom vol au vent. He’d eaten a little pie like that at the Fig & Oak at least two years ago, right? Rated it very favorably too.
He shifted uneasily in his chair, deeply unnerved. “What is this?” he joked. “Will Graham’s greatest hits?”
Hannibal smiled again, broadly pleased. Clever boy. “Taste is not only biochemical, it is also psychological.”
“Angling to obliterate ‘My Dinner with Abel’ by elevating your competitors’ signature dishes to art?”
Hannibal paused, startled by the sharp teasing insight. “Yes,” he agreed shortly.
He set the remains of the tiny vol au vent down on the table. It seemed he’d crushed it in his fingers at some point. He wiped his hands briskly then looked down at Will, waiting there for him. Eyes bound and lips slightly parted. His cheeks flushed petalpink beneath the red slash of the blindfold. He picked up another fragile mushroom puff, grateful Will couldn’t see the traitorous little tremble in his hand.
“Shall we pick up where we left off, Mr. Graham?”
Will cocked his head to the side as though he could sense Hannibal’s uncertainty. “I think I ought to be Will to you now, don’t you?”
“Will then,” Hannibal said softly, his voice like a caress. “Shall we go on?”
Will grinned, tongue darting out to wet his lips. “Yes. Please.”
* * *
After the rich earthy crackle of the wild mushroom pastry, there was a forkful of perfectly flaky salt-baked red snapper. A sour cleansing shot of firecold Calvados followed by rich, savory bite of what Hannibal said was pork loin in a sauce of red berries, but tasted strangely unlike any pork Will had ever eaten.
The rough edge of a fabric napkin pressed just below the curve of his lower lip, scraping over sensitive, newly smooth skin.
The sound of steel against bone and the cracking of a shell. The fresh flare of saltwater. Unctuous bloodwarm uni slithering dryly over the tips of a pair of smooth sleek chopsticks and across his eager tongue.
A toothsome little nikuman followed, plump with soursweet filling. Will’s canines pierced its resilient pasta flesh and a bit of sauce spilled from the corner of his mouth. He felt the rough pad of Hannibal’s thumb against his lips, wiping it away, and he flicked his tongue over it deliberately, sucking at the salt-tang of Hannibal’s skin. Hannibal gasped, a sharp spike of indrawn breath.
Will drifted in swoony seductive ease as he ate what Hannibal offered. Chewed and swallowed and opened his mouth for Hannibal again and again. Sighing with deep pleasure after every bite. Feeling cared for and carefree. His eyes closed and his hands lax in his lap as Hannibal fed him. Filled him.
The vast chrome kitchen closed in comfortably around them until there was nothing in the world beyond the spill of candlelight that encircled their table. Hannibal’s knee pressed warmly against the outside of Will’s thigh every time he leaned forward to present some new delicacy, the tips of his fingers brushing ever more intimately over Will’s cheek, his mouth. Trailing delicately down the long pale line of his throat as he swallowed.
The jagged feel of something ice cold against his lips startled Will from his dozy-warm cocoon. His eyes flew open beneath the blindfold and he jerked away in surprise. Hannibal cupped his cheek and turned his head back gently, cooing encouragement.
“Only palate cleanser before dessert,” he murmured reassuringly. “Taste.”
Sharp icy flakes of frozen champagne burned tartly on Will’s tongue and melted away. He sighed with delight and relaxed against the back of the chair, one hand settling on his full belly. He was flushed with good wine and strong brandy and absolutely stuffed.
“Good?” Hannibal asked, a little smug.
“Good?” Will murmured, languid and teasing. “No.”
He sighed again and stretched, his back crackling in a very satisfying fashion. “Delicious. Everything was delicious. You’ve spoiled me completely for any other chef.”
“Have I?” Hannibal asked with shamefully unsuppressed interest.
“Maybe,” Will teased. “I’m pretty sure no other chef would hand feed me all my favorites to make up for a bad review.”
“A terrible review, Will. Shattering. Eviscerating.”
Will tilted his head and grinned in Hannibal’s general direction. “No chef I know would have had the audacity to pull what you pulled tonight, eviscerating review or not.”
And that was definitely the right thing to say; he could almost feel Hannibal preening.
“Dessert,” Hannibal said, when he’d recovered.
“I can’t,” Will groaned. “I can’t eat even one more thing.”
“You’ll have one bite,” Hannibal coaxed sweetly, his voice low. “For me.”
There was another unexpected flutter in Will’s chest. A coil of heat at the base of his spine. “One bite,” he agreed slowly. “For you.”
“Open,” Hannibal murmured and placed a single, shiny red square on Will’s tongue.
The sour candy shell cracked in Will’s teeth revealing a layer of smooth dark chocolate over a chocolate mousse filling. In the very middle was a tiny spherical cage of cherry spun sugar that dissolved immediately against the tip of his tongue.
Will moaned shamelessly, eyes fluttering closed behind the blindfold. “Oh that’s good. I’ve never had anything like it.”
“No you wouldn’t have. Dessert is entirely my design.”
“An original finale to a meal of imitation?”
“A meal of elevation,” Hannibal retorted. “And it’s not quite the finale. I have one more thing for you. But this, you will need your eyes for.”
“You promised there wasn’t anything else,” Will complained, a little surprised at the pouting petulance in his own voice.
“Just wait,” Hannibal chuckled.
He removed the provisional blindfold with a flourish and set it aside. Then he presented Will with a large fragile bowl made from a shallow white shell.
Balanced on its rounded back in the middle of the bowl was half an avocado- dark green pebbled skin wrapped around soft bright green flesh. The smooth round pit like a perfect pebble nestled in the middle. And carved in the flesh all around the pit were the most elaborate whorls and curls and arches. It would have required a steady hand and impeccable exacting effort.
It was a lot of effort to go to for a joke.
“Ostentatious avocado,” Will whispered, smiling.
Hannibal nodded and leaned in to press his lips to the curve of Will’s ear.
“Ostentatious avocado,” he agreed.
