Chromebook Tech Literacy Masterpost
I've seen a lot of posts about the systemic death of tech literacy in schools with the advent of ChromeOS, and instead of responding to them one by one, I want to create a masterpost to destroy the system. First: FUCK CIPA. The Children's Internet Protection Act is a United States FCC act that standardizes internet safety across the country. Public schools are not required to comply with this act, but they will lose discounts offered for the E-rate program. In short, if you don't want to put up web filters, then you don't get government grants for technology and Internet. Fuck that. Many of these workarounds bank on my personal experiences, so some solutions may not work with your web filters, but they definitely are a step in the right direction. For talking with friends: chat rooms are your friend. Many chat rooms for professional use act just like Discord, and many are just a single text channel. Several I've used include: Google Messages, Rumbletalk, Slack, Element, ClickUp, Pumble, and... in a pinch, Google Docs can give you a shared document that's practically impossible to block. For watching videos: some chat rooms, especially Rumbletalk, allow you to directly embed a YouTube video. This is rare, however, so we found some workarounds. Canva has a video search and embed function that allows you to play YouTube videos straight from the editing page of their slideshows. For anime, a website that I don't think is maintained as well but should still work is AnimeTribes. It is a .ru site but it is perfectly safe, as long as you don't click on ads. I've never seen it redirect you otherwise, and the owner used to be commonly found on the chat page. Another piracy site is 9Anime, which doesn't work on Chromebooks but is an infinitely better source in general. A non-anime video piracy site is Arc018, which is my favorite. It does redirect you decently commonly, but just take care to avoid those redirects and follow piracy suggestions that I will lay out further down. For adblocking: the easiest method is to use uBlock Origin. Though, with all the stuff that Google has been doing, I'm not entirely sure if it works anymore. I gave up on Chrome the second I could get away from it and I suggest you all do the same. For playing games: so. I'm a nerd. I play Pokemon games. SO if you do too you're in luck. The only thing I could come up with was to download GPemu, a ChromeOS based emulator. Unfortunately it's pretty bad, but apparently there's an alternative called EmulatorJS. I never used it myself, but if someone wants to try it and let me know how it goes, that would be appreciated. HOWEVER, none of these work without the games to play them with. I'm going to detail piracy safety later, but for now: Vimm's Lair recently got axed by Nintendo's DMCA, but some ROMs may still be available. Another source (which is admittedly undergoing some major changes) is The Internet Archive. I haven't done a lot of searching on the Archive, and I don't know if it works on Chromebooks, but try it and let me know :).
Circumventing the web filter: While those solutions work for specific things you can do online, these present a general solution, capable of multitasking and providing you much more extended freedom. The first is CroxyProxy, a completely free proxy service that can be added through the Chrome Web Store. If the Web Store is blocked, it can be accessed via the direct website or through specific IP addresses. These change frequently, and I’m absolutely positive the ones that I have access to are blocked or simply go nowhere useful. The other option, assuming you have a home computer connected to the Internet at all times, is Chrome Remote Desktop. It will work as long as both computers are signed in to one shared Google account and both are connected to the Internet.
But Ty... none of this works for me: Oh boy. I guess it's time for my trump card. The pinnacle of my Chromebook workaround career has culminated in this. The ultimate destruction of ChromeOS, all without jailbreaking the computer and getting in a LOT of trouble (don't do that please). My magnum opus came from my blossoming understanding of emulation and, specifically, Windows images. During my senior year, I successfully used a trusted and necessary source (unblockable) to emulate a Windows computer entirely through a single Chrome tab. This source… Microsoft Azure. This cloud computing service allows the creation of a remote desktop that will save data when offline. The biggest hurdle with Azure is that… it costs money. However, when I did it, I got 200 hours of emulation FREE, and I would highly recommend you find the same deal, if it still works. Things to note: you can make multiple accounts, but you will need to also have separate payment cards, as multiple accounts with the same card will flag and not be usable. The frame rate is decently shit, and there is no physical graphics card, so the vast majority of games will not run. I mostly used it for Discord. However, feel free to experiment and make it your own. Use this knowledge wisely, and run free, my friends. Fuck CIPA, and fuck ChromeOS!
Please feel free to reblog or comment with more suggestions, because I would love to add them!

Obscutober 2024 Day 14: Octonary 8️⃣
----------
Octonary (adj.)
relating to or based on the number eight; consisting of eight; in sets of eight
----------
Yet more evidence I did not arrange the prompt list as carefully as I could have. 😅
BIG missed opportunity to make this the word for Day 8, or at the very least Day 16 (because multiples of 8, etc.)
Oh well! 🤷‍♀️
Click the "Keep Reading" and we'll talk a little more about my thoughts/process for the art...and some frustration caused by the posting mishap I got started with today. 🙃
⭐️ Like My Art and Want to see more of it? Here's All My Links! ⭐️
----------
You were going to get a nice, properly typed description for this piece today, but then Google Chrome decided it hates me and crashed with no warning whatsoever and DeviantArt's new Studio Submission Portal has the exact same STUPID fatal flaw that kept me using the Sta.sh Editor to get art submissions ready for years instead of the standard submission portal—It either can't or won't reliably auto-save as you type. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 [Context: I start typing out these long descriptions on dA first since that's been my primary posting place for years and I'm used to their font, formatting, and emoticons; And only semi-recently I started copy & pasting them over here on Tumblr, which is why this rant is still relevant here.]
Just when I had about warmed up to the "Studio," here I am FURIOUS all over again that DeviantArt, in all their infinite wisdom and updates no one asked for, STILL cannot be bothered to program freaking auto-save into the submission portal AND they took away the ability edit text in Sta.sh so you don't even have an on-site alternative option that will auto-save anymore.
I'm so mad. I'm SO mad. At the core I'm not even that mad specifically about the content I lost today, but the everything else it represents and is conceptually tied into. And I so don't have time to really get into that right now because I have to re-do something for this description other than just being angry because I have other things to do today and this has already set my schedule back badly enough as it is.
Allow me one more moment to scream in frustration:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARARARARRARARAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Alright. Now then.
You get a very basic bullet point list actually about the art because that's all I think I can manage through my ire at the moment:
This prompt, much like Day 11 serves as more evidence that I didn't curate the list as carefully as I could have. There was very much a missed opportunity to make this the word for Day 8, or maybe at least 16 or 24 since those are multiples of 8.
I opted to keep things simple for the mandala. Not as simple as just using the "8" shape over an over because I thought that would be too limiting and boring. I Googled "Octonary" to see if anything visually helpful would come up and found this webpage talking about "Octonary" paths that the Knight piece might take in a Chess game.
After starting with a big Octagon as a base, I took inspiration from the diagrams on that webpage to fill the space. I started with a big 4-point division from one of the diagrams that resembles the iron cross, but ended up modifying the lines into more of an 8-point star shape because the 4-point divison wasn't working for me with all the other 8-based motifs.
And I did still use a fair bit of those 8-based shapes to try and bring in some more softness since the Chess-inspired bits were all very straight and angular.
In general I tried to work in 8's where possible, but there were some things that slipped through that I'm purposefully not going to call specific attention to beyond this sentence acknowledging they exist.
More interesting that the mandala itself is probably the color scheme. How do you make a color scheme based on the number 8? 🤔 Traditionally, that would've been more difficult to answer. But digitally, I was able to take advantage of hex codes. I specifically looked up colors that only use the number 8 and/or 0 and started with those, and then at the very end added in two light grays that also add B and E because I needed some additional lightness I just wasn't getting with the 8's and 0's alone.
More specifically, if you're curious, my exact color palette was:
#888888 - Base medium grey for the whole thing
#000888 - dark blue
#800008 - darkish red
#080808 - near-black
#888000 - dull "gold"
#B8B8B8 - lighter grey
#E8E8E8 - lightest grey
I did toy with #088888 (teal-ish) and #800080 (dark fuchsia-y), but after reviewing my options for what I might use as a song pairing on Instagram (remember I mentioned that being a unique challenge with these on Day 12), they felt a little too at odds with the color scheme made by the others.
I do think the dark blue made this color scheme come out a little more similar to previous days that I really wanted, but by the time I realized that I could not be bothered going back to change it, so it is what it is.
If the coloring looks a little funny otherwise, I tried to add the colors still using just figure-8 shapes and then blending/blurring the splotches out to get better coverage. Probably kind of pointless and uncessary considering how the final product looks, but I couldn't help myself.
I don't think this is the strongest piece of the month by a long shot, but as I've said before they can't all be super complex or amazing. [And for the record, I thought that before the lost-description mishap.] In any case, I like my solution to the color scheme "problem" and there are still some good ideas/motifs within the mandala, even if the whole package maybe didn't come together as nicely as it could have.
...I think that's everything I wanted to mention. It's hard to tell after being so thoroughly derailed from my original thought-flow. 😠
But that's at least all I can think of at the moment, so I should probably leave this here and get on with cross-posting. Cross-posting is normally my least favorite part of the process and starting off with such a bag experience trying to get this far does not feel like a good omen for how that's going to go.
Wish me luck and happier thoughts, Sparklers—I'm going to need a lot of both. 😤

Hello, an alternative I used today to watch the game was to put in a VPN. Is called "VeePN" and you have to put it on Chrome/Google extensions on a computer/laptop. The app is a green shield with an earth in the center. There are only a few places free, including London, UK. Just turn it on and go to YouTube and you can watch the matches. Like I said before, I could watch the match that way today and I have been able to watch some NWSL games when they're broadcast in apps or platforms I can't afford.
Oh cool, I'll check it out!

Xkit Rewritten settings across devices?
just a v quick little guide (with pictures!) for people who don't know how to transfer their XKit rewritten settings across their devices easily
(putting it under a cut because I've added alot of images and it takes up alot of room)
this is a pretty beginner guide, all you need to know/be able to do is to sign in across devices with the same account to access bookmarks or Google Docs on both devices, or just manually copy the Pastebin link
alternatively, you can use this basic recommended setup I made for a friend, to save you a little time, and tweak the settings to suit your needs
I'm running Google Chrome, but there's a Firefox version of XKit Rewritten too, and this should work the same
I've tested this so far on a Windows laptop, Chromebook and a Steam Deck, and all are working perfectly
here's a tutorial on getting Google Chrome on the Steam Deck (and getting it to open in Game Mode if you prefer that)
here's a tutorial on a workaround to use XKit Rewritten on mobile Firefox browser mode
I'm currently writing up my own tutorial on getting XKR to work on mobile, along with Chromium based browsers
(XKit Rewritten = XKR for simplicity)
my XKR backup is too long to paste into in a new Text Post and Save as Draft, which is usually my go to for saving/hosting things for Tumblr, and trying to check if I can add it to a new page on my blog crashes the tab/Chome entirely on both my Chromebook and my Steam Deck, so neither of these options are viable
On the Exporting Device
go to your addons bar, select the XKit Rewritten "X" icon, backup, then "copy all"
Tumblr media
Pastebin method:
open pastebin, "+ paste", paste the code/text log into the box, and "Create New Paste". you don't need to add any tags or be signed in for this. you can leave everything blank
Tumblr media
bookmark this text file and save it as something obvious like "xkit backup", for example. save it to a bookmark folder or just your bookmarks bar. not important as long as you can find it again
Tumblr media
on the device you want to import the settings to, open the bookmarked page, then select all the text by selecting the "raw" option, click in the text somewhere and hit CTRL+A, CTRL+C. this will highlight all the text and copy it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Google Docs method:
open Google Docs and log in with your Google Account. hit the big "+", "Create a New Document", and paste your code/text log in here. Save as something you'll remember like "xkit backup" for example
(you can bookmark this Doc for ease of finding, but it will be the last file in your list until you add more Docs)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on the device you want to import the settings to, open the Google Doc, Select all text either by selecting "Edit", then "Select All", Right click, then "Copy", or just hitting CTRL+A, CTRL+C
On the Importing Device:
open the XKR addon tab again, "Backup", this time "Import", then paste the text into the box. When you hit "Restore" it'll say "Successfully restored"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
refresh your Dashboard and you should have all your settings restored!
Remember if you're transferring to a different blog, such as between RP Blogs, you will have all the tags and filters from your other blog, so you may need to go in and fiddle with those, but overall it's easier to import your existing settings than to start over from scratch!

howdy friends. i have made a survey for this one class. unfortunately, the professor ain't the most realistic person i know and they expect a bunch of answers (at least 20) i should quantify by monday and make a report for it.
this survey is for a real brand but of course i don't expect people to know about it or use it. however, i do need people to pretend they have used products from this brand so i can work with the answers and make a report. think of it as a muse of yours that is answering quizzes similar to those dashboard games but make it lame and skincare based.
for context, this survey is about seed phytonutrients, which is a l'oreal brand. the survey has a total of 29 questions, from which 4 are open ended questions (basically, you are free to write about anything, mainly focusing on your imaginery direct experience) and the rest of the 25 questions are closed questions with pre-established answers (from which you can pick either one or more answers, depending on the question).
the survey begins with "your email" and "phone number" which are not obligatory, but if you want to fill it out, please use fake emails or fake phone numbers. again, you don't have to write anything there. the forms is originally in romanian, but you can easily translate everything by right clicking on your mouse and using the translate to english feature (this works only on google chrome).
i won't be able to identify you and if you can, please share the link with other people (and letting them know this isn't a real thing, meaning they should do what we do when we do uquizzes for our muses). by clicking here you'll be redirected to the survey. or, alternatively, you can access the link under read more. thank you for your time, even just reading this.

Want to install best ubuntu apps on your computer? We have a roundup of top ubuntu apps for linux lovers and ubnutu geeks. We have also included top games for ubuntu. Ubuntu is rapidly growing in popularity. This low cost practical alternative to Windows has been gaining traction over the last year amongst the masses and it’s no surprise that any good iPhone app development company watches the developments with interest, especially when it comes to the type of apps developed and their popularity. Many people who have switched to Ubuntu have sworn to never look back as the choice and range of applications is quickly growing and there’s really not much you can’t do on Ubuntu. If you have already switched to Ubuntu or are planning to jump on the Ubuntu wagon then the next step is choosing the apps to enhance your Ubuntu experience to the fullest. Top Ubuntu Apps There are literally thousands of great apps for Ubuntu, and same as Windows, not all of them are great. There is also the user preference to take into consideration, a useful or entertaining app to some may be pointless and boring to another, here are 15 of the apps we currently rate on Ubuntu, so happy app hunting! Nitro We’re going to start with Nitro, based solely on the fact that many of us are suckers for a good racing game and Nitro definitely delivers on that front. Plex Plex has proven to be useful as your own personal secretary when it comes to personal media; For those of use that have zero organizational skills, any app that can easily organize personal media is a welcomed tool. Firefox This just seems like a no brainer to me, as I’ve always been a fan of Firefox. Google Chrome Google Chrome on the other hand is a great choice for those of you who do not share the Firefox love, but it’s a close race. Avidemux (GTK+) Avidemux is a super fun free app for people who love to edit and make videos that are still on a novice level. Impressing your friends has never been easier. VLC Media Player Many of use use their computer to listen to music and watch movies/television shows more than their TV and radio, in fact some users honestly can’t remember the last time they even turned my radio on. This is probably at least partially because they can use the VLC app to listen to their music or stream their favourite shows from various network servers. Easy to use and never fails to please. Mini Tube If you’re a confirmed Youtube addict then the Mini Tube app is a definite must have. Just like YouTube you can share subscribe and view videos from your desktop. Wunderlist Currently used by millions this cloud-sync task manager allows you to share to do list with friends and colleagues, idea for small business owners. GIMP This may be one of our favourites of the top 5. Before GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) many were loyal Adobe Photoshop users. Now people are switching in droves, as whilst Adobe is great many find GIMP to have a more user friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface) as well as just a more advanced feel over all. Top Game Apps On Ubuntu For Gamers, the game apps on Ubuntu will prove to be more than satisfying. Command and Conquer Tiberium Alliances for example is one of the most popular game apps on the market right now, and for good reason, the thrill of role play games is something that many people find addictive and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more fun thing to get addicted to, but there are plenty less known games that deserve a look such as those listed below that you should take a look at too. Xonotic It’s fast, it’s free and you get to shoot things. Xonotic is one of those games you can’t help but love. With great movement and slick intuitive design, this is a games that will have you hooked for sure. Savage 2 If you love fantasy and sci-fi, this game is a must-have. A big improvement to the original game in terms of character models and animation, you’ll find that reviews comparing it to “Rune” don’t really do it justice. Puzzle Moppet One of those
great puzzle games that combines a cute character you have to save with a vast array of 3D block puzzles that will drive you round the bed, Puzzle Moppet is a much adored game, with great graphics and a level of difficulty that starts easy but will fry your brain by the end! Heroes Of Newerth If multiplayer online battle games are your thing, then we’d be very surprised if you’ve missed this one. With real time events and significantly better graphics than the original release, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this world is infinitely better than the real one. O.A.D Taking part in ancient warfare has never been so much fun. Pit yourself against your enemies and enjoy a continuous stream of new units, better graphics and more innovation. This is a game that can grow and grow. R.C Mini Racers For those frustrated race car drivers that long for a trip back to the RC cars of their childhood, this will be a great game to play. Progress through the game to earn coins and get better cars and learn tricks to impress your friends! Beep This cute 2D platform games sees you in charge of a tiny robot, whose only assistance comes from a jetpack, a gun and an anti gravity machine. Help your little robot pal negotiate 24 levels of driving, jumping, flying swimming fun. Ideal for those who love the retro 2D platformers. Bad Dragon If you want to get involved on the ground floor of what promises to be a game built for gamers, then get Bad Dragon downloaded now. Still in development, your download will allow you to participate in this 10 level tank style game and give feedback to developers. Even in it’s development state it’s highly addictive. ApocolypZe 0.5 Where would we be without games for the zombie apocalypse lovers? ApolcolypZe 0.5 is a must have for those who love a bit of undead action. Survive as long as you can against a horde of undead characters, and pick them off one by one to stay safe. Best download this one now, to take advantage of the free expansion packs when they’re released. Crossover Games This little gem of an app was made special for the gamer in all of us by allowing people on play Windows specific games on Ubuntu, and the best part, its free! So there you have it. 20 Must have apps for Ubuntu. If you’re thinking of switching, then downloading these apps will make sure you never look back! Logan Merrick (Twitter | Facebooks | Google+) is the Strategic Director of Buzinga. He brings a Marketing approach to every project by overseeing UX design, Co-ordinating market research, and consulting on core components of the launch.

Are Third-Party Tags Dead? GTM’s Role in the Post-Cookie Era
Tumblr media
With the digital advertising world undergoing seismic changes, the relevance of third-party tags is a hot topic. As cookies phase out and privacy regulations tighten, marketers are turning to tools like Google Tag Manager (GTM) to navigate this new landscape. Are third-party tags truly dead, or are they simply evolving to meet modern demands? Let’s uncover the truth and explore GTM’s pivotal role in the post-cookie era.
The Fall of Third-Party Cookies and Tags
The demise of third-party cookies, driven by increasing consumer demand for privacy and regulatory frameworks like GDPR and CCPA, has had a ripple effect across the digital ecosystem. Third-party tags, which often rely on cookie-based tracking, are losing their effectiveness.
Key Drivers of Change:
Browser Restrictions: Chrome’s phasing out of third-party cookies follows similar actions by Safari and Firefox.
Privacy-First Consumer Behavior: Users are more likely to block tracking or use tools that anonymize their browsing.
Regulatory Pressure: Compliance with GDPR and similar laws discourages the use of invasive tracking methods.
The Role of GTM in the New Era
Google Tag Manager remains a cornerstone for marketers and developers, but its functionality has expanded in response to these changes. Here’s how GTM is adapting:
1. First-Party Data Collection
With the shift to first-party data strategies, GTM enables seamless integration of first-party tags. By tracking user interactions directly on your site, you can gather actionable insights without violating privacy standards.
Best Practices:
Set up tags to collect first-party cookies.
Use custom events to capture specific user interactions.
Integrate GTM with CRM tools to build robust customer profiles.
2. Server-Side Tagging
Server-side tagging is emerging as a game-changer for privacy and data control. GTM’s server-side tagging functionality allows you to:
Process data on your server rather than the user’s browser.
Ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
Reduce dependency on third-party tags.
3. Event-Based Tracking
Event-based tracking replaces cookie-based methods, focusing on user actions rather than persistent cookies. GTM makes this transition easier by allowing you to:
Track button clicks, form submissions, and page views.
Create custom triggers that align with your KPIs.
Alternatives to Third-Party Tags
1. Contextual Advertising
Contextual targeting focuses on the content of a webpage rather than user behavior. GTM can help implement contextual strategies by tagging relevant content categories.
2. Unified IDs
Unified ID solutions, such as UID 2.0, aggregate first-party data across platforms while preserving user privacy. GTM can integrate with these solutions to streamline tagging efforts.
3. Consent Management Platforms (CMPs)
CMPs ensure that user consent is managed transparently. GTM integrates with CMPs to manage tags and ensure compliance.
What Does the Future Hold?
While third-party tags may not be entirely dead, their role is undeniably shrinking. The future lies in:
Building robust first-party data strategies.
Leveraging advanced GTM capabilities.
Embracing privacy-friendly technologies like server-side tagging.
Final Thoughts
In the post-cookie era, adaptability is key. Google Tag Manager offers the tools and flexibility needed to thrive in this changing landscape. By focusing on first-party data, server-side tagging, and privacy compliance, businesses can stay ahead of the curve while building trust with their audience.

Introduction: A Game-Changing Moment for the Internet Imagine a world where you have endless choices for search engines, your online ads are tailored without manipulation, and new technologies thrive without Big Tech’s grip. Feels like a win. That’s the future the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) envisions as it takes on Google in one of the most significant antitrust cases of the century. This legal battle could reshape the internet as we know it, giving you more power over your online experience. Why Is Google Under Fire? Google’s unparalleled dominance in search engines and digital advertising isn’t just a technological achievement—it’s also a point of contention. The DOJ and 35 state attorneys general argue that Google’s practices limit competition, hurt advertisers, and reduce options for you. Monopoly in Search Consider this: Google controls over 90% of the global search engine market. Every time you type a query, the chances are it goes through Google Search. This stranglehold makes it hard for competitors to survive, let alone thrive. Exclusive Deals Do you know why Google is the default search engine on iPhones, Safari, or even Android phones? It pays billions of dollars to make that happen. This pay-to-play approach stifles competition and ensures smaller search engines stay out of sight. Digital Advertising Power From Google Ads to YouTube’s ad platform, Google owns tools that dominate online advertising. Advertisers claim the company uses its position to inflate prices and prioritize its ecosystem, leaving competitors and even consumers with higher costs. The Bottom Line: The DOJ argues that this dominance isn’t just about being the best—it’s about unfairly ensuring no one else can compete. DOJ’s Proposed Actions to Level the Playing Field To curb Google’s dominance, the DOJ is proposing dramatic measures. Let’s break down what these could mean for you: 1. Selling Chrome Google Chrome is the most used web browser globally, and it is tightly integrated with Google Search. By selling Chrome to an independent entity, the DOJ believes it can create a fairer market. What It Means for You: Imagine a browser that prioritizes user privacy instead of ads or trackers. Competing browsers could focus on features like security, speed, and personalization rather than feeding Google’s ad ecosystem. 2. Breaking Away Android Android powers more than 70% of smartphones worldwide. While technically open-source, Google’s heavy influence ensures its apps (like Search and Chrome) dominate Android devices. What It Means for You: A standalone Android could let phone manufacturers partner with other services, giving you a more diverse mobile experience without being locked into Google’s ecosystem. 3. Sharing Search Technology The DOJ might force Google to share its search algorithms and data with competitors. What It Means for You: Smaller search engines like DuckDuckGo could use this technology to offer better alternatives, creating more choice and transparency in search results. How This Impacts You Directly What does all this mean for your day-to-day life? More than you might think! 1. A World of Search Choices Right now, your default search engine is likely Google. In the future, you might have several strong contenders, each catering to different needs. Example: A privacy-first engine for sensitive searches or a highly visual engine for creative projects. 2. Lower Costs Passed to Consumers Google’s advertising practices often inflate costs for businesses, which trickle down to you in the form of higher prices. A competitive market could bring down ad prices, potentially making products and services more affordable. 3. Greater Privacy Independent platforms could prioritize your data security instead of focusing on ad revenue. Imagine browsing without constant ad tracking or data mining. 4. A Surge in Innovation A competitive tech environment often drives creativity.
Expect to see exciting new apps, tools, and technologies as smaller players get a chance to shine. What Critics Are Saying While the DOJ’s actions sound promising, not everyone is convinced. Short-Term Disruptions You might face initial hiccups, such as slower integration between Google’s services. For example, accessing Gmail or YouTube through Chrome could feel clunkier if these entities are no longer under one umbrella. Rising Costs for Free Services Google’s integrated ecosystem allows it to offer free services like Gmail and Google Docs. Critics worry that breaking up the company could lead to subscription fees for these currently free tools. Complex Implementation Restructuring a giant like Google is no small feat. Legal battles and logistical challenges could delay these changes for years, leaving the market in limbo. The Road Ahead: What’s Next? The antitrust case is still unfolding, with arguments from both sides heating up. The DOJ is pushing for structural changes, but Google is fighting back, claiming its dominance benefits consumers through innovation and efficiency. For You: While the legal wrangling continues, keep an eye on how this case might impact your favorite services. Will your next smartphone come with Bing as the default search engine? Will you finally have a browser that doesn’t track your every move? Only time will tell. Final Thoughts: A New Digital Era? The DOJ vs. Google isn’t just about breaking up Big Tech—it’s about reshaping the future of the internet. For you, it’s an opportunity to regain control over your online choices, save on costs, and explore a tech landscape driven by innovation rather than monopolies. So, what do you think? Are you ready for a more competitive and consumer-friendly internet? Or do you prefer the convenience of Google’s all-in-one ecosystem? Share your thoughts—we’d love to hear them! Stay updated on the latest tech battles and how they affect you! Subscribe to Gizopedia for more in-depth analysis, breaking news, and practical insights that empower your digital life.

In the digital underworld of the internet, there exists a realm that once stood as a bastion of unfiltered chaos, sharp wit, and unapologetic subversion—4chan. It was the birthplace of memes, the launchpad for subcultures, and a refuge for those who sought to operate outside the strictures of society. But in recent years, a new generation—Zoomers, or those born roughly between 1997 and 2012—have begun to infiltrate this once-pristine territory, altering the very fabric of its culture. What was once an unrestrained haven for the "oldfags"—those who navigated the site's darker, unpolished corners—has, over time, been slowly but surely hijacked by this younger, more easily offended generation.
This shift has not just been a change in membership demographics; it has been a profound erosion of 4chan’s ethos, from an anarchic, unrelenting force of online rebellion to something less recognizable, more curated, and dangerously fragile. The digital pulse of "oldfag culture" has been dulled, replaced by a new order that is often perplexing, disorienting, and—worst of all—predictable. The Rise of the Zoomer Infiltrators
For those who lived through the early years of 4chan, it was a place governed by an ironic distance from mainstream society. Humor was cynical, self-deprecating, and dark. Offensive content was common, but it was often wielded with a knowing wink—an acknowledgment that nothing was sacred, and everything was fair game. 4chan wasn't a space for niceties. It was a sandbox for chaos, where anonymity allowed the true, untamed nature of its users to thrive. "Oldfags," the veterans of 4chan, prided themselves on their immersion in the site's unique culture. They were the gatekeepers, those who could decode the endless layers of inside jokes, trolling, and subversive commentary.
But with the arrival of the Zoomers—those who came of age in the age of social justice, oversaturation of memes, and hyper-commercialized online spaces—the foundations of this culture began to crack. The new wave was accustomed to a very different internet: one that catered to their social awareness, political correctness, and easily consumable viral content. To them, 4chan was not the home of unfettered freedom, but a place to argue over boundaries and ideology, where "safe spaces" were suddenly in demand and "cancel culture" wasn't just a buzzword—it was a weapon. The Death of Anonymity and the Rise of "Performative Radicalism"
Anonymity was the lifeblood of 4chan's culture. It allowed users to engage in unfettered expression, explore taboo subjects, and embrace the most absurd forms of self-representation. The oldfags who built this subculture were proud of their facelessness. In a world of curated Instagram photos and endless Facebook profiles, they reveled in the freedom to exist without identity, where every post was a cipher, a throwaway fragment that could be made, broken, and remade anew.
But for the Zoomers, anonymity was a concept that didn’t resonate in the same way. Their lives were defined by the constant curation of their online personas across social media platforms. They were children of the algorithm, trained to post with purpose and with awareness of consequences. The anonymity that was once sacred on 4chan became increasingly irrelevant to them, as they began to reveal parts of their identities even within this most chaotic space. Whether it was their gender, their political leanings, or their unyielding need to prove how "woke" they were, the new generation began to reshape the culture of 4chan into something unrecognizable.
What emerged was the rise of "performative radicalism"—the idea that to be truly radical or countercultural, one had to display the most extreme and outlandish views for the sake of online clout. In this environment, the subtlety of humor, once a hallmark of 4chan, began to fade. What replaced it were shallow, shallow takes on complex subjects—posts that lacked the nuanced edge of the oldfags’ biting irony. Instead, the focus became louder, more abrasive opinions, curated outrage, and an obsessive need to fit into an ever-shifting set of cultural codes that often contradicted the very spirit of anarchic expression 4chan was built on. The Erosion of Humor and the Death of the Meme
Memes, as they are understood today, are far removed from the visceral, raw energy of the memes of old. A few years ago, when a new meme emerged on 4chan, it was a bizarre, underground creation—an inside joke built from a pool of shared knowledge and a rich history of in-jokes. It was a meme for the initiated, a symbol of belonging in a space that was intentionally exclusionary. The humor was dark, often nihilistic, but it was always self-aware. It was the kind of humor that only those who truly understood the absurdity of life could appreciate.
But the Zoomers—the children of viral social media and mainstream meme culture—are not interested in these kinds of memes. Their humor is louder, faster, and more surface-level. TikTok-driven memes are less about subtlety and more about virality, often driven by trends and challenges that lose their meaning as quickly as they gain popularity. The edge is gone. The crude and rebellious nature of old meme culture is diluted, watered down into easily digestible content for the masses.
The result is a twofold tragedy: on one hand, the humor itself has become less inventive, leaning into worn-out formats and cliches. On the other, 4chan’s original function as an incubator for subversive creativity has been extinguished in favor of increasingly bland, corporate-friendly meme aesthetics. The Fragmentation of 4chan and the Oldfag Exodus
The death of oldfag culture on 4chan is not merely an ideological shift—it has caused a mass exodus of the site’s original denizens. The users who once defined the tone of the platform have migrated to smaller, more niche communities, seeking refuge from the encroaching tide of new blood. They no longer feel at home in a place that has become dominated by the values of the very mainstream they sought to escape.
It is impossible to ignore the dissonance between the platform’s past and its present. Once a wild west of internet freedom, 4chan has now become a space where moderation, censorship, and groupthink creep in under the guise of "keeping the peace" and "protecting the community." The oldfags have largely disappeared, and in their place stands a fragmented collection of subcultures, each vying for attention in an increasingly crowded and sanitized ecosystem. Conclusion: The End of an Era
As the Zoomers continue to dominate the conversation on 4chan, the once unassailable fortress of oldfag culture fades into memory. The site is no longer the chaotic, creative powerhouse it once was, and what remains is a hollow shell, curated for a generation that, while tech-savvy and hyper-aware, lacks the irreverence and anarchic spirit that made 4chan a true online force.
The decline of 4chan's culture is not just a simple generational shift. It is a death—a slow, painful unraveling of a community that once thrived on the ability to speak freely, without fear of judgment or consequence. The Zoomer invasion has taken this freedom and turned it into something… less. Less raw, less daring, less dangerous.
And so, the oldfags—those who once stood at the vanguard of internet rebellion—retreat into the shadows, as the Zoomers take over the ruins of what was once their home. The internet, like all things, has moved on—but for those who remember the golden age of 4chan, the change is not just disappointing. It is chilling. The soul of the site, and with it the heart of online irreverence, has been suffocated by the very generation that claims to embrace the chaos.
In the end, perhaps it is only fitting that the decline of "oldfag culture" mirrors the rise of the sanitized, bite-sized internet we see today—shiny, quick, and ultimately forgettable. I'm going to take both sides on this issue:
Enshittification is hitting all different parts of the internet. It's getting Google, Reddit, Youtube, Steam, Chrome, AdBlock Plus, Facebook, etc. That's zoobus's point - it's everywhere, so avoiding it is difficult.
HOWEVER. I listed those services in that way specifically to point something out. All of these services? They do different things. Chrome is a browser. Reddit is a social media platform. Youtube is for video sharing. Steam is a game storefront. Etc. What ties all of these things together is that they are the biggest name in the category for whatever service they provide. They're not actually the whole internet, they're just the service companies that we all have collectively decided to use, and which have therefore grown large enough that they feel they can offer a worse user experience without losing customer loyalty. They are each monopolies in their category. Alternatives exist for all of them.
Jackdaw's point is that we can break away from enshittification by moving our patronage to other services. These companies can only treat us badly because they know we won't leave. And I am distinctly aware that moving away from these companies will sometimes mean picking a worse service. But some of these companies have gotten so terrible that moving away will actually make your experience distinctly better - like when last year I found out I could buy a legitimate Yeti travel mug from the Yeti website for cheaper than I could buy a fake Yeti mug being peddled as the real thing on Amazon.
Yeah, switching to Firefox isn't going to change that Steam advertises porn games to you, any more than buying from Yeti prevented UPS from taking two weeks to ship my order and delivering it looking like it was drop-kicked into the ocean. But that's not the point. The point is that if enough of us stop allowing these companies to be monopolies, they will either fail or fix their shit. That is legitimately the only way to solve this problem.
In recent years, Google users have developed one very specific complaint about the ubiquitous search engine: They can’t find any answers. A simple search for “best pc for gaming” leads to a page dominated by sponsored links rather than helpful advice on which computer to buy. Meanwhile, the actual results are chock-full of low-quality, search-engine-optimized affiliate content designed to generate money for the publisher rather than provide high-quality answers. As a result, users have resorted to work-arounds and hacks to try and find useful information among the ads and low-quality chum. In short, Google’s flagship service now sucks.
And Google isn’t the only tech giant with a slowly deteriorating core product. Facebook, a website ostensibly for finding and connecting with your friends, constantly floods users’ feeds with sponsored (or “recommended”) content, and seems to bury the things people want to see under what Facebook decides is relevant. And as journalist John Herrman wrote earlier this year, the “junkification of Amazon” has made it nearly impossible for users to find a high-quality product they want — instead diverting people to ad-riddled result pages filled with low-quality products from sellers who know how to game the system.
All of these miserable online experiences are symptoms of an insidious underlying disease: In Silicon Valley, the user’s experience has become subordinate to the company’s stock price. Google, Amazon, Meta, and other tech companies have monetized confusion, constantly testing how much they can interfere with and manipulate users. And instead of trying to meaningfully innovate and improve the useful services they provide, these companies have instead chased short-term fads or attempted to totally overhaul their businesses in a desperate attempt to win the favor of Wall Street investors. As a result, our collective online experience is getting worse — it’s harder to buy the things you want to buy, more convoluted to search for info

The Rise of Cookieless Marketing: Strategies for Performance Marketing Success in the USA
The digital advertising landscape in the USA is undergoing a seismic shift. The phasing out of third-party cookies, those small data packets that tracked user behavior across websites, has thrown a wrench into the well-oiled machine of targeted advertising. But fear not, performance marketers! While the landscape may be changing, there’s still a wealth of opportunity to achieve success. This blog post will equip you with the strategies you need to navigate the cookieless future and ensure your performance marketing campaigns in the USA continue to deliver exceptional ROI.
Understanding the Cookieless Future
Third-party cookies have long been the backbone of audience targeting for performance marketing campaigns. By tracking user behavior across the web, advertisers could build detailed profiles of potential customers, allowing for highly targeted ad placements. However, growing concerns about user privacy and data security have led to stricter regulations and the phasing out of third-party cookies by major browsers like Google Chrome.
This shift presents a challenge, but also an opportunity. Performance marketers in the USA need to adapt their strategies to focus on building strong first-party data collection and leveraging alternative targeting methods.
First-Party Data is King
First-party data is information collected directly from your customers through website interactions, email signups, surveys, and other channels. This data provides valuable insights into your audience’s demographics, interests, and behaviors. By prioritizing the collection and utilization of first-party data, you can gain a deeper understanding of your target audience and create more relevant and personalized marketing campaigns.
Optimizing Your CRM System
Your Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is a goldmine of first-party data. Leverage your CRM to segment your audience based on purchase history, website behavior, and other relevant factors. This allows you to deliver targeted messaging and offers that resonate with specific customer segments, ultimately driving higher conversion rates and maximizing your ROI.
Contextual Targeting and Content Marketing
With the decline of third-party cookies, contextual targeting becomes a crucial strategy. This approach focuses on the content surrounding an ad placement rather than individual users. By carefully selecting relevant websites and placements for your ads, you can ensure your message reaches a highly interested audience in the USA.
Content marketing also plays a vital role in a cookieless world. By creating valuable and informative content that attracts your target audience, you can build trust and brand awareness. This organic reach can then be leveraged for performance marketing campaigns, driving qualified leads to your website or landing pages.
Identity Solutions and Customer Data Platforms (CDPs)
Identity solutions and CDPs can be powerful tools in a cookieless environment. These technologies allow you to gather and unify customer data from various sources, creating a comprehensive customer profile. This holistic view enables you to deliver personalized experiences across different touchpoints, even without third-party cookies.
Investing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)
AI and ML can be game-changers for performance marketing in the USA. These technologies can analyze vast amounts of first-party data, identify customer trends and patterns, and predict user behavior. This allows for highly targeted campaigns, dynamic ad creative optimization, and real-time bidding adjustments — all leading to improved campaign performance and higher ROI.
Refining Your Performance Marketing Measurement
The cookieless future necessitates a shift in how you measure performance marketing success in the USA. While traditional metrics like click-through rates (CTR) and cost-per-acquisition (CPA) remain important, it’s crucial to also focus on engagement metrics like time spent on site and scroll depth. These metrics provide valuable insights into user behavior and campaign effectiveness, even without direct attribution to third-party cookies.
Embrace the Future of Performance Marketing
The cookieless future may seem daunting, but it’s also an opportunity for innovation and growth. By focusing on first-party data, alternative targeting methods, and advanced technologies like AI and ML, performance marketers in the USA can continue to deliver exceptional results. Remember, the core principles of successful marketing — understanding your audience, delivering relevant messages, and measuring performance — still hold true. By adapting your strategies and embracing the changing landscape, you can ensure your performance marketing campaigns continue to thrive in the cookieless era.

every once in a while i download a fresh browser and don't install any addons just to see what the raw internet is like, and whoo boy, it's rough out there.
this time i installed fresh google chrome since i haven't used it in forever. i played their little game and setup their built-in privacy settings, and even flipped on their ad personalization and preference switches. i raw-dogged it like that for a few hours, then installed a manifest v3-compliant ad-blocker to see how those are progressing.
impressions after a few hours:
— chrome's ad privacy options and all that jazz actually do seem to cater a lot of ads to stuff i'd actually want to see. doesn't help the websites that completely fill your screen up with ads and overlays, though.
— on that note, holy shit. banners on top of banners with videos in the corner and newsletter signup requests sliding down from the top of the screen... are there really still people who browse the web like this? when i see a site that has basic little ads in non-intrusive spaces, i almost feel bad because they're trying to do it right, and getting their ad revenue cut by the ad-blockers people always have on to cut out all the insane stuff other sites do.
— youtube is... strange. i get ads on the front page, but haven't gotten a single in-video ad yet. i don't know if there's some sort of grace period on a new install, or if they serve you less ads if you're using chrome. even after installing an ad-blocker, i left it disabled on youtube just to see how long it would be until i got an in-video ad, and still haven't gotten one after hours of auto-play in the background. for comparison, i booted up edge and got an in-video ad about three videos in. strange.
— the manifest v3 version of ublock origin (ubo lite) seems to work pretty well, even on basic settings. using it in edge, it seems to work for youtube as well, though you have to crank the slider all the way to the right and give it the extra permissions. the only thing missing is the element zapper - not sure if that will ever be doable in mv3. there seem to be less filter lists to choose from than in normal ubo, but i haven't noticed anything slipping by lite's filters. i did maybe notice some differences in cosmetic filtering (like when it removes the blank space where an ad would be) but i don't know if that's another mv3 limitation, or was just because i was mostly using the "basic" filtering setting for most sites.
*******
trailing off...
i've been using firefox for a while now and i almost hate how snappy chrome seems in comparison. i had to fiddle with about:config in firefox forever just to get scrolling to feel good, and even more to "soup it up" to the point where it was fully taking advantage of my rig. in chrome i can flip a few flags in chrome://flags and achieve similar results in less than 5 minutes.
the difference in loading times on youtube have been noticeable - i'm not sure if the conspiracy that google is slowing things down for other browsers is true, or if it's a firefox issue, or a little bit of both. i did notice a slight stutter when loading videos in edge, but it's also getting bloated as hell at this point, and still wasn't as noticeable as firefox.
digressing way off the original point of the post... it just makes me clench my fist that the only major alternative browser outside of the chromium-based monopoly still seems behind. i respect the firefox devs but man, i wish there was more real competition besides them, if for no other reason than to foster innovation through competition.
i'll likely keep using firefox on principle for the time being, but i'll be keeping an eye on how things go as the manifest v3 transition keeps going along. it's already tempting to just pick up a de-googled chromium build from woolyss, but i've already put so much time into tweaking firefox that i might as well stick with it for a bit longer.
if the best ad-blocking and privacy extensions are able to keep their efficacy as mv3 settles in... i dunno. right now, it feels like a lot of people have over-estimated the doom and gloom surrounding mv3, but we'll really just have to wait until the dust settles and see how much security and privacy is really lost once the ol' reliable extensions make the migration (or refuse to, or are unable to)

I'd like to share some Google alternatives that I use in my day to day life or have heard about, since they seem inescapable. Note that I made these choices based on their privacy policies, and you can always check alternativeto.net to see the most popular alternatives.
Google Drive/Google Keep - Nextcloud, is more privacy focused and decentralised, allowing you to pick which provider and region your data is stored with. I use it to sync notes, documents, and KeePassXC password storage. BDS specifically calls out the Google/Amazon $1.2 billion cloud tech deal with Israel's gov + military (heres the No Tech For Apartheid petition).
Google Play - FDroid, free and open source apps covering productivity, office, multimedia, games.
also for YouTube - PeerTube, which runs on the fediverse. I haven't checked this out yet, but it'd be great if more people got into it for their passion projects and stuff.
Google Mail - Tutanota, encrypted and ad free mail who run a blog dedicated to discussing privacy and data security around the world. They're currently working towards an inbox transfer feature to bring all your emails over.
Google search/Google Chrome - Mojeek, Marginalia, DuckDuckGo / Firefox, LibreWolf.
Google Fonts - Fontsquirrel.com, they have a very newbie friendly webfont explanation document that let me add fonts to my Neocities.
See also: open source app clients so you don't have to rely on Google Play for updates. I've seen ones available for Twitch, YouTube, Spotify, Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram. FDroid has a selection but you may want to do a web search for others that may be more up to date.
See also: APKPure, if there is no alternative app for what you're looking for, although apps that require certain Google Play features or security signatures won't work, such as game features or dating apps.
What to boycott NOW to help stop Israel’s unfolding genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
Reminder that boycotting DOES work, there is historic proof! Don't let anyone discourage you otherwise!
The BDS movement uses the historically successful method of targeted boycotts inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the US Civil Rights movement, the Indian anti-colonial struggle, among others worldwide.
We must strategically focus on a relatively smaller number of carefully selected companies and products for maximum impact. Companies that play a clear and direct role in Israel’s crimes and where there is real potential for winning, as was the case with, among others, G4S, Veolia, Orange, Ben & Jerry’s and Pillsbury. Compelling such huge, complicit companies, through strategic and context-sensitive boycott and divestment campaigns, to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians sends a very powerful message to hundreds of other complicit companies that “your time will come, so get out before it’s too late!”

Best Laptops Buying Guide 2024:Which One is best ?
Tumblr media
Laptops Buying Guide Before laptops buying guide, decide on Windows, Mac, or something new. Beyond OS, there are other factors. Does it have your desired screen? Support peripheral ports? Play 1080p+ games? Consider these and other difficulties.
Risks and warnings for 2023 are here. Microsoft Windows 11 and Chrome OS provide more alternatives than MacBooks. See best laptops buying guide brands and read on to select one.
Mac, Windows, or another? Prioritize your OS. Apple and Windows won that struggle, but Chrome OS on cheap PCs is gaining ground.
These devices have similar hardware and functionality but significant variances.
The OS-based PC market is varied. Millions of companies create them, and the designs and names vary in both cost and craftsmanship. Several companies use Windows-based personal computers over enjoyment or business, and they tend to outshine Macs.
Windows computer systems vary in size. Clamshell keyboard-mouse computer systems like the Samsung Surface Laptops are prominent. The lower end Windows interactive laptops without a Track Bar, compared to Apple MacBooks.
The company Surface’s convertible display as well as tablet-keyboard combine harder. Google won’t make an adjustable or retractable MacBook, so its iPad Pro laptop with its magical keyboard is 2-in-1.
Microsoft Windows adapts better than macOS. The gaming and commercial programming standard extends software libraries. Windows gets substantial upgrades with new features biannually, unlike macOS. Chrome OS gets minor updates more regularly due to its loose release schedule.
Windows laptops provide more options than Apple Many Lenovo, Dell, and Microsoft devices exist For trademark protection, Apple has consistently upgraded its products, including MacOS. Apple devices meet its standards, but any manufacturer may produce a Windows or Chrome OS PC with unique features. MacOS are straightforward and trustworthy. Apple’s support staff can swiftly handle issues since they share an ecosystem.
Quality design differentiates Macs. Because they look, feel, and have fantastic screens, particularly with plenty of storage, they cost more than Windows and Chrome OS devices. Very few Apple computers are inexpensive.
Apple computers feature powerful hardware but slower graphics processors than Windows PCs, and you can’t replace parts, so you’re stuck with the specifications you buy. For individuals who want a powerful computer but don’t know much about hardware, their Mac may work well every day. When Apple upgraded to in-house CPUs in late 2020 and 2021, its hardware improved considerably. Macbooks like the MacBook Pro 14 with M2 Max are fast and cheap. The MacBook Pro is better currently for performance and battery life.
The corporation’s simple, intuitive the macOS operating system maintains its design. The platform in question has solid productivity and media-editing apps, unlike Windows. The company Studio Laptop Workshop’s unique designs and graphic pen rival the corporation’s success among designers and artists.
Computers don’t have touchscreens, but Sidecar mode lets you utilize an iPad as a wireless touchscreen.
Chrome OS Mac computers and Windows differ in Chrome OS. The Chrome-based platform was initially concentrated on applications for the internet and pricing. Chrome OS features desktop as well as mobile applications like competitors.
The Google Chrome operating system operates Chromebook. These machines are inexpensive than desktops running Windows and MacBooks due to reduced technology desires. They work well for schools and social media and shopping laptop users.
Powerful Chromebooks like the HP Dragonfly Pro mimic Windows and macOS computers. Both the HP Chromebook x360 14 and Lenovo Duet 5 with OLED displays are two-in-1s.
Chrome OS is faster and more flexible. Although web-centric, the platform now supports Google Play and Android applications, making it the perfect laptop companion for Android users. Chromebook users may converse without phones using its Message-like interface.
Chrome OS runs Linux desktop apps like GIMP and Steam. Linux support is in beta, and the library is less varied than Windows or macOS. Chrome OS’s maturity makes it a strong Windows competitor.
If Chrome OS fulfills your laptop needs, a Chromebook may save money.
Laptop kinds Several laptop categories target certain customers. Choose a laptops buying guide -friendly category. Some of favorites fall under these categories.
Ultrabooks Intel coined the term “ultrabook” for lightweight, long-lasting laptops. Intel Core CPUs, SSDs, and well-designed clamshells. People called any little laptop a “ultrabook” after this renowned device.
Business laptops Business laptops include consumer-friendly features despite targeting professionals. Though less popular, they have better batteries and skins.
High cost is corporate computers’ major drawback. Video editors and photographers benefit from bigger monitors and realistic color. Protecting privacy and security makes them more likely to provide biometric validation and professional software.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 is a great business laptop addition. Preferred work laptop is ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5.
Gaming laptops Gaming laptops must improve. For current games, elite models have powerful CPUs, graphics chips, and RAM. Anything less may make popular games unusable.
Better desktop-like components and bigger displays make high-end gaming laptops heavier. 4K monitors’ power-hungry components deplete batteries. Some of best gaming laptops provide stealth or middle ground.
Gaming has advanced with display technology in this industry. In 2023, the Asus Zephyrus M16 launched mini-LED, and gaming laptops now had OLED for brilliant colors and deep blacks. Gaming laptops include 240Hz and 480Hz displays. Increased refresh rates and components provide smooth, high-speed gaming.
