China Is Using Meta’s AI for Military Purposes. Meta and the U.S. Responded Exactly as Expected
The company led by Mark Zuckerberg had prohibited the use of its AI for military purposes, but recent events with China have prompted Meta to change Llama’s terms of use.
China’s Military Use of Meta’s AI
A few days ago, Reuters revealed that China had used an earlier version of Meta’s AI model, Llama, to develop a chatbot with military applications. This discovery stirred up some controversy and has also changed Meta’s approach in this sector. Chinese research institutions linked to the People’s Liberation Army reportedly leveraged a previous version of Llama, specifically the 13B version (with 13 billion parameters), and added custom parameters to create a military-oriented tool called ChatBIT.
ChatBIT as a Military Assistant
According to a study cited by Reuters, ChatBIT was “optimized for dialogue and responding to military field questions.” Tests indicated that ChatBIT could outperform other models with about 90% of GPT-4’s capabilities.
Unauthorized Use and Meta’s Reaction
The discovery of ChatBIT caused concern among Meta executives, who, in a statement to Reuters, affirmed that using Llama for military applications was “unauthorized.” Meta’s terms of use for Llama specifically prohibit military or nuclear applications. Following the incident, Meta updated its policy on its official blog. Under the new terms, Meta’s AI model can now be used for military applications, but only in the United States and its closest allies: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Meta’s AI Restricted to the U.S. and Key Allies
In this announcement, Meta officials noted that these “responsible and ethical” uses would support “the prosperity and security of the United States.” Among the companies authorized to use Meta’s AI technology for military purposes are Amazon Web Services, Anduril, Booz Allen, Databricks, Deloitte, IBM, Leidos, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Oracle, Palantir, Scale AI, and Snowflake.
The Military Application Debate in AI
The use of AI models in military and defense contexts has long been met with concern. In 2018, Google withdrew from Project Maven, an initiative involving AI for U.S. military drone control, following employee protests.
Controversy, Concern, and Regulation
Meta’s decision has stirred debate, though military AI applications seemed inevitable. Militaries and intelligence agencies worldwide have used open-source solutions for years, and it was only a matter of time before models like Meta’s would be drawn into similar uses.

Meta Opens Its A.I. Models to U.S. Military and Allied Use

Reddit
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, recently announced a significant change in its policy by allowing U.S. government agencies and national security contractors to utilize its artificial intelligence (A.I.) models for military purposes. Known for its commitment to open-source A.I., Meta’s decision marks a shift from its previous stance, which prohibited using its technology in military or defense sectors. Meta’s A.I. models, called Llama, will now be accessible to federal agencies and private contractors focused on national security, including major defense companies like Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, Palantir, and Anduril. The move aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to support democratic values and the safety of allied nations, according to Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs.
Llama, Meta’s open-source A.I. technology, can be freely copied, shared, and adapted by developers worldwide, a practice Meta believes can lead to safer, more refined A.I. Meta’s leadership emphasized that the controlled application of its technology could reinforce the United States’ strategic edge in the global race for A.I. supremacy. In his blog post, Clegg highlighted the importance of A.I. in national defense, stating that Meta’s involvement aims to contribute to the “safety, security, and economic prosperity” of the U.S. and its allies.
Extending A.I. Support to Allied Nations
In addition to U.S. agencies, Meta plans to share its A.I. models with members of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, which includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. This collaboration reflects Meta’s commitment to supporting allied nations in bolstering their security frameworks. Clegg mentioned that these partnerships could enhance cybersecurity and assist in monitoring activities that may threaten democratic values globally.
Meta’s push to distribute its open-source A.I. on a broader scale comes amid an intensifying A.I. race with tech giants like Google, OpenAI, and Microsoft. Unlike competitors that have chosen to restrict access to their A.I. technologies due to concerns over potential misuse, Meta has taken an alternative approach by sharing its code freely, allowing third-party developers to improve and adapt it. Since August, Llama has been downloaded over 350 million times, reflecting Meta’s goal of promoting widespread adoption of its A.I. technology. However, this decision has sparked debate over security risks and potential misuses.
Concerns Over Open-Source Approach and Regulatory Challenges
While Meta aims to advance U.S. technological interests, its open-source A.I. approach has not been without controversy. Some argue that unrestricted access could make the technology vulnerable to misuse, especially in global security contexts. Recently, a Reuters report alleged that Chinese institutions connected to the government had used Llama to develop applications for the People’s Liberation Army, sparking concerns over potential risks associated with open-source A.I. Meta executives disputed the report, emphasizing that the Chinese government was unauthorized to use Llama for military purposes.
Clegg defended Meta’s open-source policy, arguing that transparent access allows experts to identify and mitigate risks more effectively. He added that responsible applications of Meta’s A.I. could serve broader strategic interests by enabling the United States to stay ahead technologically. According to Clegg, the aim is to establish a “virtuous circle” where A.I. can be developed ethically and contribute positively to both U.S. interests and global stability.

How businesses can connect with customers: Tracksuit CEO Statement
Tumblr media
When I spoke with Matt Herbert, co-founder and co-CEO of Tracksuit, I expected our conversation to revolve around digital marketing. After all, Tracksuit’s platform is designed to help brands track their performance through online metrics. However, Herbert stressed the importance of traditional offline marketing strategies, even amidst the increasing focus on digital.
“How many customers do you really need? Who are your customers? Where do they spend their time?” he asked a dental practice in New Zealand that had heavily invested in Google AdWords and Facebook ads but wasn't seeing substantial results.
Tracksuit, co-founded by Herbert and Connor Archbold in New Zealand in 2021, raised $20.5 million in Series A funding earlier this year. As the company expands into the US and UK, it now monitors over 4,000 brands worldwide, providing real-time insights into consumer sentiment and brand awareness.
Despite being an online business, Herbert advised the dental practice to consider a more traditional approach before doubling down on digital ads. “Create flyers and visit local bowling or golf clubs. Support their prize draws and raffles,” he suggested. “Build consistent connections with your community face-to-face before investing further in digital performance.”
Herbert acknowledged that this shift can be difficult for brands, particularly as the digital marketing landscape becomes more intricate. “Without the right expertise, it’s easy to waste money without seeing results,” he noted.

Connectivity Is Crucial To Our Future Security
The recent nationwide Optus outage showed us that connectivity is crucial to our future security. Suddenly, everyone felt helpless and reacted with much anger and frustration toward the failing provider. This throws our dependence upon electrical and digitally connected devices into harsh relief. It is not a stretch of the imagination to plot likely scenarios during times of war in this new age of information. Cutting off the population from their institutions and from each other will be achieved via attacking communication infrastructure. This can be done far more easily than many people might think. Photo by Dylan Chan on Pexels.com
Cables Connecting Us To The World
“These cables, only about as thick as a garden hose, are high-tech marvels. The fastest, the newly completed transatlantic cable called Amitié and funded by Microsoft, Meta and others, can carry 400 terabits of data per second. That's 400,000 times faster than your home broadband if you're lucky enough to have high-end gigabit service.” - (https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/features/the-secret-life-of-the-500-cables-that-run-the-internet/) The great majority of data communication is piped through submarine cables and not via overhead satellites. These relatively thin high tech cables span some million kilometres around the world. They sit on ocean floors and carry the vast mass of information flow for the big tech giants Google, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon. These submarine cables connect us all with each other through our myriad devices. There is a geopolitical battle raging right now between the United States and China for control of this network of undersea digital cables. The US is winning this and wants to ensure that China remains a minor player. “The European Union's executive wants to help invest in "cable projects of European interest" that would reduce its reliance on too few undersea internet connections and make it less vulnerable to sabotage, a document seen by POLITICO showed.” - (https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-looks-to-boost-secure-submarine-internet-cables-in-2024/) Photo by Sora Shimazaki on Pexels.com Cabling Connecting & Surveiling There is an understanding through the whistleblowing efforts of former NSA operative Edward Snowden that US spy agencies monitor data via these submarine cables of the big tech companies. The realisation that China is probably doing the same is one of the reasons why the push is on to freeze China out of the game. These lengthy cables require signal repeaters or boosters and it is suspected that these pieces of technology are where surveillance technology has been added to the cable network. Thus, we are seeing Chinese cabling deals quashed under pressure from the US in the South Pacific and around the globe. America wants to maintain its grip on the Internet internationally. The maintenance of these relatively fragile cables is a major component of the cabling network business. Companies tender for contracts to provide maintenance. Many of the companies that lay and maintain submarine cables have strong links to the security agencies. Maintenance provides opportunities to insert surveillance technology to that cable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUlGRBmv_IM Five Eyes & Chinese Hacking The Five Eyes intelligence alliance has recently come out and publicly pointed the finger at China as the state sponsored home of hacking. This Western group of spy agencies tells us that China has been hacking secrets from US companies for decades and the clear message is that it cannot be trusted. “The Five Eyes countries' intelligence chiefs came together on Tuesday to accuse China of intellectual property theft and using artificial intelligence for hacking and spying against the nations, in a rare joint statement by the allies. The officials from the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - known as the Five Eyes intelligence sharing network - made the comments following meetings with private companies in the U.S. innovation hub Silicon Valley.” - (https://www.reuters.com/world/five-eyes-intelligence-chiefs-warn-chinas-theft-intellectual-property-2023-10-18/) Photo by Monstera Production on Pexels.com China’s position as a global economic superpower is accompanied by its political position as a totalitarian regime with Xi Jinping as dictator. This makes many in the West uncomfortable for a number of reasons. China’s massive increase to its military capabilities only adds to this. Therefore, the geopolitical push to keep China out of various security arrangements internationally can be understood on this basis. However, it is equally foolish to assume that the US keeps its security concerns completely separate from its trade interests. Western powers have mixed business with so-called national security concerns from the outset in global affairs. Economic and military power go hand in hand. This is about dominance on the world stage first and foremost. Competing powers always declare the other guy the bad guy in any dispute. President Trump Postlaunch Remarks (NHQ202005300037) by NASA HQ PHOTO is licensed under CC-BY-NC-ND 2.0 Another Dictator on The Horizon When thinking about who are the bad guys, there is the shadow of one Donald J Trump looming over the USA in 2024 and beyond. A Trump presidency, especially a revenge presidency, poses the threat of untold dangers to world peace. A proven liar and fraud, Trump is a major risk to the safety of humanity. There are enough bad guys in prominent positions, like Putin, to go adding an immoral loon to the top job in the White House once again. The GOP has morphed into an extremist autocratic political party hell bent on Trump or destruction. The delineation between bad and good actors on the global stage is getting less clear by the day. Right wing media organisations like News Corp are directly complicit in the push for Trump. Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com South Pacific Submarine Cabling Australia has been shoring up its South Pacific security relationships of late. These submarine cables make an appearance in the Soloman Islands situation with a Chinese deal sunk in 2017 and replaced by a US one the following year. The geopolitical dance, between the superpowers, has been island hopping here with visits by a cavalcade of foreign ministers. Anthony Albanese has been seen hula dancing and money is being spent on these tiny island nations by middling and super powers. Photo by Jonathan Cooper on Pexels.com Connectivity is crucial to our future security. AUKUS may not be the only submarine concern that we have, as an island nation ourselves. Thinking about how easy it will be to go around cutting cables and disabling communication networks - modern warfare will be a lot about connectivity. Our security is very much tied up with this sense of staying in communication with each other and our important institutions. Protecting these submarine cables will be vital to achieving this. Unlocking Online Success: How Flow Media Drives Growth with SEO Experts in New Zealand and SEM Online Marketing in Auckland
In the ever-evolving world of digital marketing, businesses must adapt quickly to stay ahead of the competition. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by leveraging Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM). With the increasing importance of having an online presence, companies are seeking experts who can help improve their visibility, drive targeted traffic, and ultimately increase conversions. Flow Media, a leading digital marketing agency, is setting the bar for Seo Experts New Zealand and SEM online marketing in Auckland, helping businesses navigate the digital landscape and thrive in the online marketplace.
The Power of SEO and SEM in Digital Marketing
Before diving into how Flow Media is transforming the digital marketing scene, let’s take a moment to understand the significance of SEO and SEM.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) refers to the process of optimizing a website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). By using targeted keywords, creating high-quality content, and enhancing site usability, businesses can improve their chances of ranking organically on platforms like Google. SEO is a long-term strategy that aims to drive sustainable, free traffic to a website.
On the other hand, SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is a broader digital marketing strategy that focuses on paid advertising. SEM involves paid search campaigns, such as Google Ads, where businesses bid on keywords to have their ads displayed at the top of search results. SEM is a quicker method of gaining visibility online and can be extremely effective when used alongside SEO.
While SEO provides long-term benefits, SEM offers immediate results. Combining both strategies is the key to driving traffic, increasing brand visibility, and achieving measurable ROI for businesses.
Flow Media: The SEO and SEM Experts in New Zealand
Flow Media has earned a stellar reputation as one of the top digital marketing agencies in New Zealand. Their team of SEO experts in New Zealand works tirelessly to help businesses of all sizes improve their online visibility, rankings, and ultimately, their revenue. With an in-depth understanding of search engine algorithms, keyword strategies, and content marketing, Flow Media’s approach to SEO is comprehensive and results-driven.
The team at Flow Media employs a strategic approach to SEO that involves conducting thorough keyword research, creating optimized content, improving website structure, and building high-quality backlinks. They work closely with clients to identify their target audience, analyze competitors, and craft custom SEO strategies that align with the client's goals.
The agency’s SEO experts also stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, search engine algorithm updates, and best practices. By continuously adapting their approach, Flow Media ensures that their clients remain at the forefront of the digital space and continue to outperform their competitors.
SEM Online Marketing in Auckland: A Powerful Tool for Immediate Results
While SEO focuses on organic search results, SEM (or paid search marketing) provides businesses with the ability to gain immediate visibility. Flow Media specializes in Sem Online Marketing Auckland, offering businesses a robust solution to increase their online presence through paid advertising.
When it comes to SEM, the team at Flow Media is highly experienced in creating effective paid search campaigns. These campaigns are designed to target specific keywords that are most relevant to a business’s products or services, ensuring that the ads reach the right audience. Whether it's through Google Ads or other paid platforms, Flow Media helps businesses set up, manage, and optimize SEM campaigns to generate traffic and conversions.
One of the key advantages of SEM is its ability to deliver instant results. Unlike SEO, which may take months to show significant results, SEM campaigns can quickly drive traffic to a website. This makes SEM an ideal solution for businesses that want to make a big impact in a short amount of time.
Flow Media’s SEM experts take a data-driven approach to paid marketing. They track and analyze campaign performance to ensure that the ads are optimized for maximum effectiveness. By constantly refining the strategy based on real-time data, Flow Media helps businesses get the most out of their SEM investment.
The Synergy Between SEO and SEM
While SEO and SEM may seem like separate strategies, they work best when used together. This synergy between the two approaches allows businesses to gain both short-term and long-term benefits. Flow Media understands the power of combining SEO and SEM to drive traffic, improve rankings, and increase conversions.
Here’s how the two strategies complement each other:
Increased Visibility: While SEO helps businesses rank organically, SEM ads appear at the top of search results, giving businesses more visibility. This combined approach ensures that a company’s website is front and center, whether through organic or paid listings.
Broader Reach: SEO is effective for reaching users who are searching for long-tail keywords, but SEM can target a wider audience through paid ads. With SEM, businesses can reach users who may not be actively searching for specific products or services but are still likely to convert.
Keyword Insights: By running SEM campaigns, businesses can gather valuable data on which keywords are driving the most traffic and conversions. This data can then be used to refine SEO strategies, improving organic rankings and ensuring that businesses target the right keywords.
Improved ROI: Combining SEO and SEM can lead to a higher return on investment (ROI). Businesses can use SEO to build long-term, sustainable traffic, while SEM drives immediate results and increases sales in the short term.
Flow Media’s ability to seamlessly integrate both SEO and SEM strategies makes them one of the most sought-after agencies in Auckland and across New Zealand.
Why Choose Flow Media?
Expertise in SEO and SEM: Flow Media has a team of SEO experts in New Zealand and SEM specialists in Auckland who have years of experience in the digital marketing industry. Their expertise allows them to create customized strategies that are tailored to the unique needs of each client.

Week 10 - Chosen creatives
Leta Soberiajski
Leta, a freelance designer and art director based in New York City, creates viscerally stunning tableaus by fusing traditional graphic design elements with photography, art, and styling. Her multi-media practice explores visual journeys. Wade and Leta, who make up the other half of the creative team, have dubbed their style "Music To Your Eyes," where speculative design converges with vibrant mediums to create a recognisable personality in all of their work. She credits Gins, whose work "their work has made us consider the physical effect of the work that we make and has even encouraged us to create our own work philosophies such as "design as performance," to give a greater understanding of the physical activity we strive for in the work we create, whether through a brand, a sculpture, or an ad." as one of the visionaries she draws inspiration from.
She attended Purchase College to study graphic design, and she has been working on her own since 2013. Adobe, Bloomberg Businessweek, D.S. & Durga, Google, Gucci, IBM, The New York Times, Refinery 29, Renault, Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, Target, Tate Modern, and UNIQLO are just a few of the many companies she has as clients. She teaches at the School of Visual Arts as an adjunct professor as well. For its annual New Visual Artists Review, which chose 20 international designers under the age of 30, Print Magazine has recognised her.

Catherine Griffiths
Catherine Griffiths is a designer, typographer, artist, writer, feminist, and activist from Aotearoa New Zealand. Seachange Studio
Tim Donaldson and Amanda Gaskin, the company's co-founders and creative directors, are in charge of Seachange.
Before relocating to New Zealand to launch Seachange, Amanda and Tim spent more than a decade perfecting their skill at prestigious creative companies in London. They brought a vast amount of expertise with them. Their exposure to many cultures has given them a unique global viewpoint that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
They frequently serve on international judging panels, most recently for D&AD, New York Young Guns, and locally for the New Zealand Best Design Awards, and their work has been praised in esteemed design journals.
A talented collection of creatives with a love (bordering on obsession) for what they do make up the Seachange team.
They expertise is in creating brands from scratch, but we also relish the challenge of revitalising legacy businesses from a new angle.
Although the studio is situated in Auckland, New Zealand's Tmaki Makaurau, it serves clients all around the world.
Emma Kaniuk
Designer and art director Emma Kaniuk is based in Tmaki Makaurau, Auckland. She is one half of Studio Akin, one of the few creative businesses owned by women. She recently founded her own not-for-profit organisation called Tradespeople because "I wanted to be part of the changing the standard." Akin is a branding agency with offices in Tmaki Makaurau, Auckland, and Naarm, Melbourne. It collaborates with forward-thinking individuals to create brand worlds at the nexus of creativity, culture, and technology.
Emma has worked on projects in the arts, aviation, education, finance, fashion, FMCG, hospitality, infrastructure, and social good initiatives in her previous positions at Special Group and Designworks. Her work has won accolades both nationally and internationally, including the purple pin of distinction for graphic design from the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Design Awards. It has also been highlighted in publications like Creative Review, Communication Arts, Monocle, and numerous websites.
It's safe to say that Emma's practise now heavily emphasises collaboration. Her presentation will be a sort of love letter to all the alphabets and logotypes she and Akin have created individually as well as with other people as she looks back on a number of her projects.

Ex-New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to join Harvard University
Ardern, a global icon of the left and an inspiration to women around the world, has been appointed to dual fellowships at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Tumblr media
CAMBRIDGE: Former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who led her country through a devastating mass shooting, will be temporarily joining Harvard University later this year, Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf said Tuesday.
Ardern, a global icon of the left and an inspiration to women around the world, has been appointed to dual fellowships at the Harvard Kennedy School. She will serve as the 2023 Angelopoulos Global Public Leaders Fellow and a Hauser Leader in the school’s Center for Public Leadership beginning this fall.
“Jacinda Ardern showed the world strong and empathetic political leadership,” Elmendorf said in a statement, adding that Ardern will “bring important insights for our students and will generate vital conversations about the public policy choices facing leaders at all levels.”
Ardern, who was just 37 when she became prime minister in 2017, shocked New Zealanders when she announced in January she was stepping down from the role after more than 5 years because she no longer had “enough in the tank” to do it justice. She was facing mounting political pressures at home, including for her handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which was initially widely lauded but later criticized by those opposed to mandates and rules.
She said she sees the Harvard opportunity as a chance not only to share her experience with others, but also to learn. “As leaders, there’s often very little time for reflection, but reflection is critical if we are to properly support the next generation of leaders,” she said.
Ardern’s time at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, university will also include a stint as the first tech governance leadership fellow at the school’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. The center has been an important partner as New Zealand worked to confront violent extremism online after a white supremacist gunman killed 51 people at two mosques in the city of Christchurch in 2019, Ardern said. The gunman live-streamed the slaughter for 17 minutes on Facebook before the video was taken down.
Two months after the shooting, Ardern launched the Christchurch Call with French President Emmanuel Macron. The initiative’s goal is to eliminate terrorist and violent extremist content online.
More than 50 countries joined the initiative, including the United States, Britain, Germany and South Korea, as well as technology companies like Facebook parent company Meta, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, YouTube, Zoom and Twitter.
“The Center has been an incredibly important partner as we’ve developed the Christchurch Call to action on addressing violent extremism online,” Ardern said, adding that the fellowship will be a chance not only to work collaboratively with the center’s research community, but also to work on the challenges around the growth of generative AI tools.
Jonathan Zittrain, co-founder of the Berkman Klein Center, said it’s rare for a head of state to be able to immerse deeply in a complex and fast-moving digital policy issue.
“Jacinda Ardern’s hard-won expertise — including her ability to bring diverse people and institutions together — will be invaluable as we all search for workable solutions to some of the deepest online problems,” he said in a statement.
Ardern said she planned to return to New Zealand after the fellowships.

At Matebiz, we will provide tips and services on quick results through PPC that can help you reach your online marketing goals. Our services are not to be confined to India we also offer our services in other countries like UK, USA, Australia & New Zealand to help your business succeed online.
Here are 5 tips to get quick results from your PPC marketing campaigns:
Contents
1 Focus Your Efforts On One or Two Key Platforms
2 Use Your Keywords Wisely (don’t over do them)
3 Use Short, Attention-grabbing Headlines And Ad Copy
4 Create Well-designed Ads That Stand Out
5 Track Your Results Diligently And Adjust Your Campaigns Accordingly
Focus Your Efforts On One or Two Key Platforms
One of our biggest tips for quick results is to focus your PPC efforts on one or two key platforms. While it’s possible to scale up quickly with a large budget. You’re likely to see better results by working smarter rather than harder. That means focusing your efforts. The smaller a number of platforms you can manage at one time, the less time it takes to keep up-to-date and track. Your performance, freeing up more time and energy for other important things like making sales. At Matebiz, we tend to focus on Google AdWords and LinkedIn Ads (which can be managed under Campaign Manager)though there are countless choices out there depending on what type of business you run.
We find that with a strategic and tailor approach, even small-scale PPC marketing services can have a positive impact. Using custom keyword lists and ad groups allows you to zero in on target audience demographics, which helps improve your clickthrough rates and total ad spend efficiency. For example, if you’re an e-commerce business selling baby clothing. You might create an ad group specifically targeting parents of newborns.
Conversely, if you’re a brick-and-mortar business selling sports apparel, it makes sense to include key terms like athletic shoes and soccer jerseys in your campaign. With the help of a pinoore PPC services agency like Matebiz. Your company can increase sales, raise brand awareness, and reach new customers. We’ll enfold the preliminary PPC management and show you how to create effective campaigns that will have a positive impact.
Make sure you’re maximising the use of your budget. It’s crucial to understand how to evaluate the performance of your PPC campaign. It’s critical to comprehend how to evaluate the performance of your campaign when it comes to PPC management so that you can make wise choices.
Use Your Keywords Wisely (don’t over do them)
While writing your content, you should use your target keywords (without overdoing it) because that is how people who are searching can find you. Be mindful when using keywords though, not all of them are create equal! It’s generally easier to rank for longer keyword phrases as there will be less competition for them. I like to use long tail keyword tools and Google Trends to find which keywords have both high search volume and low competition. Simply put, these are the keywords that will deliver results quicker with lower investment.
To save money on AdWords, you can use low competition, long tail keywords in your campaigns. The benefit of using these keywords is that there will be less competition and therefore lower cost per click (CPC). For example if we want to reach out to businesses that are interest in Pay Per Click services, instead of bidding on ‘Pay Per Click’, you should use ‘Pay per click services’ which has a lower search volume but will have lower CPCs.
On-page optimisation: Another way to reduce costs is by ensuring your website copy is optimize for search engines. By including relevant keywords at different times throughout your website’s content you’ll improve your chances of ranking higher on Google when people look for certain things.
Use Short, Attention-grabbing Headlines And Ad Copy
In a world of short attention spans, there’s no excuse to send potential customers and clients to other websites or social media feeds instead of your landing page. Ad copy and headlines should be written in a way that entices people to click without being too vague about what you have to offer. You want them curious enough about what you can do for them that. They feel compelled to get more information, but not so vague that they lose interest before clicking. Focus on clearly explaining exactly what your products/services are and why people need them.
To make sure your ads grab attention and don’t lose clicks, use enticing headlines that aim to answer questions potential customers are likely to have about your business or services. The headline should directly reflect what you have available. If you’re a luxury car dealer, Buy Your Dream Car Today probably won’t work as well as Zero Percent Financing Available Now. Both promises can be made good on with a few keystrokes, but only one gives someone who is in need of some quick cash an easy way to get there.
Nowadays businesses aren’t just based around physical products. Digital products are huge in today’s market and they can command huge prices on places like E-Bay.
Create Well-designed Ads That Stand Out
According to recent data from Google, 32 percent of clicks happen within the first three seconds of a person seeing your ad, which means that creating well-designed ads that stand out is incredibly important. To get a leg up on your competition, hire an experienced PPC services agency to create attractive ads and use tools like AdWords’ design studio. Additionally, don’t forget to test and optimize each part of your ads: headlines, ad copy, landing pages, etc. A/B testing allows you to figure out which combinations work best with minimal effort. Use captivating headlines that aim to address concerns potential customers are likely to have about your company or services to ensure that your ads attract attention and don’t lose clicks.
Think you can’t afford a professional? Think again. Most agencies provide some combination of basic and advance services at different prices. It’s easy to find something that fits your budget. The best part is that most PPC services providers even have free trials or starter packs, so you can test their services before committing to anything. You don’t need to spend too much money in order to get results from your campaign, so try out some paid advertising with a reputable agency today! Like Matebiz as a leading PPC Services Agency we will cover all the aspects you need to know about ads, from the basics of keyword research to more advance strategies like semantic keyword planning and paid search advertising.
Track Your Results Diligently And Adjust Your Campaigns Accordingly
The old adage you can’t improve what you don’t measure is never more true than when you’re dealing with marketing. Many businesses lose money on ineffective or poorly managed PPC campaigns simply because they didn’t measure their results and adjust accordingly. The best way to get quick results from a pay-per-click campaign is to pay attention to your clicks, impressions, conversions and ROI. Set up your campaigns to report these metrics so that you can identify trouble spots quickly and make adjustments based on actual data, not assumptions. If you’ve never used pay-per-click before, look into it; it’s probably one of your cheapest marketing options available today—especially if your budget is limited.
