Gaslight District X Mom!Reader Headcanons

(Reader is Butcher Ken’s wife and Mel and Breadhead’s Mama.)

• Being the wife of a mafia boss while being the mother of a human and a yeast golem is pure insanity, but when it comes to the love for your family, there’s nothing you cannot handle.

• You mostly spend your days tending to The Whale Belly Butchershop while Ken and Mud are on their missions with the kids, but it’s not unheard of for you to join them.

• Mel would always be the first person to bounce into your arms after a successful killing mission, rambling about how awesome the trip was and how she helped the gang. She would always love hearing your words of praise after putting up with Ken’s endless bickering for her safety.

“…and then I used the chainsaw! Pretty cool, huh, mom?”

“Oh-ho-ho! I wish I was there to see it, sweetie!”

• You would always quickly tend to Mel whenever she was injured after a mission.

• Like Ken, you were severely worried about your daughter’s safety, considering how you and your husband are the only people who know she’s a human. Though, unlike him, you’re not as overprotective.

• And Mel absolutely loves you for that. She would often use you as leverage for winning arguments with her dad when it comes to her safety.

“Mel, I always told you not to-!”

“Oh, c’mon, Ken! You never let me go outside on my own! Mom always lets me!”

“DON’T BRING YOUR MOTHER INTO THIS!”

• Breadhead is a total mama’s boy and will always look forward to at least spending time with you every single day. The silly bread man just loves your guts. You’ve been nothing but sweet to him since he was a bun in the oven and he’s always willing to return the love.

• Anything his mama says, he’ll do it. Do chores at work, he’ll do it. Bring a souvenir from one of the missions, he’ll do it. Cement the man that insulted your cooking, he’ll do it.

• Just like how Mel wants Ken to be proud of her, Breadhead can’t get enough of you being proud of him.

• There was a time when you joined the Smiling Dead on a mission and Breadhead was bubbling with excitement. He was twice as excited to fight with his mama and often turned to you for praise after brutally mutilating a random Rotling.

“Mama, did you see that? Did you see what I did?”

“Of course, honey bun. Mama’s so proud!”

“Heh heh! Mama’s proud of me!”

• Even though you don’t join missions, you’re just as insane and demented as the rest of the crew. Though you do a better job at hiding it than the others. Ken and Mud find you fun to be around because of this.

• Your kids would be busy ripping apart their latest victim and you would be just watching them, unfazed with a calm yet proud smile, completely splattered in the victims purple blood.

• Ken would always plan date nights with you whenever your schedule was open. Slow dancing in the closed butcher shop with soft music in the background was always his go-to for a romantic night.

• You and Ken were the undead Bonnie and Clyde of the town, but better. You, Ken, and Mud were the only members of the Smiling Gang before Mel and Breadhead were born.

• Mud would often reminisce those days. He would always bring up how he missed those good old times when it was just you three and how much more exciting and crazier the missions were back in the day.

“Ah, Mel. You should’ve seen (Y/N) back then when she was in the crew! She was one crazy bitch!”

“Watch it, Mud! But yes, I quite was…”

• Mud often tends to steal your things just to rile you up. He knows that pissing you off is like playing with fire, but hey, what’s more fun than bickering with his sister-in-law?

• Being the wife of a mafia don always has its perks. Ken never stops spoiling you after making a good amount of scarab from work. Dresses, jewelry, custom-made knives, he always knew what you wanted.

• He happily remembered how you squealed with joy and covered his face with kisses after he gave you a torture rack as a gift on your 4th anniversary together.

• And just like Ken, you know how to spoil him too. Cooking his favorite meals, gifting him a new car and weapons, giving him a divine massage after a long and hard day of work, and always being there for him when he needs a hand.

• Ken feels like the luckiest man on earth whenever you have his back. He always tends to solve his own problems when it comes to crooks that try to mess with his family, but when his wife does it for him? He has hearts in his eyes for you.

• There was a time when a random creepy guy tried to grope Mel in the butcher shop. Before Ken could skin the fool, the creep was already bleeding on the ground, shrieking for mercy from you. But his pleas fell upon deaf ears.

• The other residents of the shop nearly pissed icicles from the smiling death stare you gave to the creep while slowly torturing him. Your calm threats to him didn’t make it better either. While Mel watched you slowly eviscerate the creep in excitement, Ken swooned at the sight of his beautiful wife defending their daughter.

“PLEASE! I’M SORRY! I WON’T DO IT AGAIN!”

“…If you ever try to touch my baby girl that way again…I’ll tear out your spine through your dickhole and mulch your shit body into steaming mush…repeatedly and SLOWLY…”

• And yeah. That turns Ken on.

“Uh, dad? Why are you looking at mom like that?”

“Oh, Mel…your mother sure knows how to disturb the peace…in my pants…”

Dungeon Meshi - "Dungeon Meals" from volumes 1 to 4

Decided to compile the dungeon meals anyway. These are from chapter 1 to 28 (Volumes 1 to 4)

There were a total of 24 "meals" (counting the special panels) in the 28 chapters. Meal is anything that gets the named panel, so kelpie soap giant frog suit and Falin skeleton count (cause that's funny). I'm using EHScans pages because they have a better resolution usually (and for consistency)

Anyway here's the meals of each chapter and who made them.

The chapters that had no "meal is done" panel were chapters

Mostly the multipart chapters, there was food eaten in 17 and 22 but no special panel for them, 17 is the titular raspberries and 22 the barmaids serve them a meal they eat right at the end

The chapter with more than one "meal" panels (not more than one meal prepared just more than one special panel for the meals) were:

And the party stats are:

Senshi: 17 meals cooked, all of them food

Chilchuck: 3 "meals" cooked, 2 of them were food, 1 of them was a Frog Suit

Marcille: 4 "meals" cooked, 2 of them were food, 1 of them was soap and 1 of them was Falin skeleton reconstruction. She made the soap by herself and the stew mostly by herself

Laios: 5 "meals" cooked , 3 of them were food, 1 of them was a frog suit and 1 was Falin skeleton reconstruction. He also helped with 4 other meals (kinda) and 1 of them he made by himself (The zosui)

Out of the 24 meals in these 4 volumes, 21 were food and 3 were "other"

Out the 21 food meals Senshi made 17 of them, Laios made 1 Marcille made 1 and the other 2 was Namari and Living Painting Cooks.

I often get confused with numbers so if I said anything wrong feel free to correct me! Might do less volumes for the next post we'll see

Today we'll be making Golem Field Fresh Veggie Lunch!

SO, “what goes in to Golem Field Fresh Veggie Lunch?” YOU MIGHT ASKIts vegetables, vegetable wauter, and not Much else! Knife is there too.

Head of cabbage

4 carrots

3 potatoes

2 onions

2 turnips

Thick slice bacon

Butter

Seasoned rice vinegar

Broth is surprisingly flavorful considering the limited spices and short cooktime

Potatoes are perfect texture for dipping

Cabbage absorbed a lot of the juices!!!

Was more impressed by the salad part of the meal-

The turnips need to be sliced enough to Barely see through, and the carrots julienned thin enough to be almost peels

And its this wonderful vegetable confetti tasteful in its simple pleasure

Rice vinegar of any kind will work, seasoned rice vinegar is just what i had

Salt both parts of the meal generously

In the future i wouldve shredded or cut the cabbage much smaller. We'll talk more on that later. Its also intentionally barebones with spices and oils, me using butter and rice vinegar is even pushing the limits of show accurate because in the show they used plain olive oil.

From idea to execution, this was a very quick recipe. For starters, nothing gets cooked all that long (the water spends more time empty than it does ingredient'ed) and for lasters nothing gets cut all that much. It was tricky finding good sources for stewing a whole cabbage because most recipes call for either shredding or at least chopping smaller. And they do this for a reason. Its unwieldy trying to eat a whole half of cabbage, you never quite know when to start or where to start. Do you bite chunks out? Peel leaves? Spear it with other things? I dont know. I still dont. Im not a huge raw cabbage fan and it wasnt raw, but it wasnt transformed much either. Minimalist. 

This was a feast in the show and i bet that the freshness of the veggies were a factor, considering they were plucked fresh off the living rock guys. I wouldve killed to be able to brown the onions, roast the carrots, or maybe cube the potatoes (though the consistency was perfect for forking and dipping them in butter so! Bonuses.)

Oven roast bacon is a beloved treet for me. It seemed to absorb some of the vegetable broth and vice versa with the broth absorbing the oils from the bacon, which enhanced all the flavors. Maybe in the future itd be nice to try cooking the bacon a bit ahead, and then adding it to the pot while everythings boiling? Also adding a spritz of lemon juice to either/both is always nice!

I give this recipe a solid 7/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.) for its simplicity. With modifications like shredding the cabbage and more seasonings, it could become an easy 10/10. hit that like and subscribe or kill me

🐁 ORIGINAL RESIPPY TEXT BELOW 🐁

Ingredients:

Head of cabbage

4 carrots

3 russet potatoe

2 white onions

2 turnips

10 slices of thick slice bacon

Butter

Seasoned Rice vinegar

Stew Method:

Preheat your oven to 400f. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a baking rack on top (alternatively you can use a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and no baking rack. but the baking rack lets the air circulate better and the grease drip off!)

Cook your bacon for about 18 minutes or until crisp. Flip halfway through.

Chop your carrots, peel and slice your potatos in half, and slice your onions into rings.

Get a large pot with a tight fitting lid, add water, salt, your carrots, your potato pieces, and your onions. Cover and heat to a low boil.

Cut the cabbage head in half down the middle. Once the pot is boiling, carefully add your cabbage to the pot and arrange the halves so theyre fully covered.

Cover and cook for about 13 minutes, the cabbage should be slightly crisp but have give to them. 

Remove from heat and laddle contents into a bowl, arrange some of your bacon along the sides so the fat and the broth mix :) salt and pepper to taste. And get a little saucer for butter so you can dip the potato pieces and/or coat the cabbage pieces.

Salad Method:

Peel your carrots and turnips. Cut off the ends of both. Julienne your carrots, and thinly slice your turnips.

Add your carrot greens (or your chosen leaf filler) to a bowl, then add your carrots and turnips.

Coat with seasoned rice vinegar, salt, and pepper. Thoroughly mix and enjoy :)

As an autistic person (who is, to be honest also pretty immature) I also really related to Izutsumi. I understand that my pickiness is unreasonable but that wouldn't stop me from rather not eat that try something I don't like or not know, or that looks bad.

I think maybe we misunderstood each other a bit here.

I don't think the issue is Izutsumi not eating things.

If she simply said "I'm not eating that, I'm going to out and hunt for my own food" that would be completely understandable. Hell, even Marcille refuses to eat some of the things Senshi cooks. Not Eating Monsters is a very relatable part of this story. Most people who the party meets refuse to do that. Senshi and the guys - THEY'RE the weird ones.

In fact, in this panel, Laios is being a jerk on purpose and I'm surprised he got away with only scratches.

I joked about her eating the weird little man, but honestly? If she doesn't want to, why pester her? He was just being Laios.

And in the flashback, Izutsumi dealt with things pretty normally - just give what you don't want to eat to Tade.

No dramatics necessary! Everyone wins. She's a cat, she doesn't need leeks anyway.

But the point at which she kinda crosses a line is specifically this:

She yells at Laios about her limits - fine. A bit unnecessary, given that he's just trying to explain their situation, but whatever.

But she then puts the party in danger by going for the Barometz AND then walks away after initiating a battle, because it doesn't suit her.

The difference between what happened with the Ice Golem and now is consideration. Thinking about how your actions impact the safety of others. While Chilchuck and Izutsumi worked together to fell the golem, the others (Marcille and Senshi and Laios) didn't just wander off to look for NEW problems. They stayed nearby, presumably ready to jump in.

They also didn't split the party, forcing Marcille to give chase in order to assure Izutsumi didn't die. (Marcille is also kinda in the wrong here for leaving others, because she also endangered them, but she did it out of concern for Izutsumi.) (Also, Izutsumi would have died if Marcille hadn't followed her, so it's a fair concern.)

The issue isn't that Izutsumi cares about her own needs. That's a healthy thing that everyone should do!

The issue is that Izutsumi doesn't care about the needs of others, to the point of endangering them for very little reward to herself.

She makes no effort to....make an effort? She yells at the party when things don't go her way and demands they make unreasonable adjustments for her. It's not about when she threw away the mushrooms - like, that was funny and partially expected after Senshi got used to the others eating whatever. Though it IS wasteful....

When I say Izutsumi comes across as spoiled to me - that's NOT because of having personal preferences. She can eat whatever she wants, forever. That's a human right.

But I do think she's selfish for demanding that the world and other characters bend (unreasonably) to her will (because they're in a DUNGEON with limited resources) and make it easier for HER specifically, even though attempting to do so endangers them.

But also, as many of you have pointed out: She's not even an adult, she's 17. I assumed she was like, mid-20s, so her behavior makes a lot more sense now.

so, first I only wanted to draw Professor Layton with a Reiterpallasch from Bloodborne because haha funny hat man with gun-sword, but then i ended up drafting concept art for "Laytonborne", apparently.

"Puzzles all over the shop... You'll be stuck on one of them, sooner or later."

Layton

yes, this really did just start with me wanting to give Layton a Reiterpallasch because he's a canonical fencer and Bloodborne trick weapons absolutely slap. The Reiterpallasch is literally a rapier with a pistol attached that can mechanically switch to prime either the blade first or the gun first so you can stab and shoot someone at the same time.

Giving Hershel the Bloodborne makeover was kind of funny because he wears such a simple look in canon it was hard striking the right balance between his recognisable look and BB aestheic since Bloodborne loves embellishment especially via lots of belts/buckles and those weird shoulder-cape things. I tried to keep it simple enough though because as much as i think he could pull off a hunter ensemble i don't want to have to keep track of all the funky bits. the Top Hat Stays, of course.

Aurora

Aurora is eerily good a fit in a Soulsborne-esque setting considering she fits the criteria for a "Soulsborne maiden" classic archetype sort of character: After all she's a mysterious pale-haired young woman with mystical origins/powers and a foreign-sounding accent and may or may not have some connection to the wider lore and powers that be of the setting. hell even her whole thing being a golem works in a way as even Bloodborne has artificial humans existing as a concept.

i got a little lazy with changing up her dress for both time and lack of inspiration. I thought maybe i'd really do her up but then I chickened out that her costume wouldn't be recognisable any more so just slapped a belt and some patterns on the shawl bit and called it a night :P (if i'd been braver/more motivated she'd probably look good in an approximation of the White Church set, something like that)

and yeah so as the sketches off to the side are like, no real clue how/why it might be triggered but imagine her having the potential to be an optional boss or something (and she'd whoop your ass)

Flora

idk tho Flora also seems like she could be a good contender for the "Soulsborne maiden" position too in a way, or even if not her whole character and story fits into the world quite well. especially with Bloodborne having the Plain Doll who is a sentient doll made in the image of someone her creator loved/was obsessed with and Flora living in a village of human-like robots which started after her father tried to build a replacement for her dead mother.

Her dress is a combination of all her canon costumes across the games. The fur-trim shoulder cape is from one official art of her, the short shawl and white sleeves and bit around her waist is based on her first dress, and the rest of the dress design is based on her second and third game appearance.

The 'Doll Flora' concept there at the end is just some idea of a false/clone Flora running around as well. She's got some little differences including elements of other parts of Flora's designs over the years that aren't on OG Flora, such as the sash and shoes.

Anton

Anton fits in scarily well to the Bloodborne-y setting, perhaps not too surprisingly given the whole 'vampire' thingy. I sort of envision Folsense and Herzen Castle being a bit like the Castle Cainhurst area of Bloodborne which leans more into the classic gothic horror of a remote and looming haunted castle occupied by a sinister enigmatic character.

And yes, that is a reference to the infamous "LAYTOOON" scream from his canon 'boss fight' in the second game - imagine the whole steaming up and screaming thing being like his boss phase transition animation.

The whole 'withers to an old man/husk' concept seems so very Soulsborne-y it really just fits yknow. like if you defeat him he shrivels up/ages to dust or whatever. RIP gassed-up grandpa.

I partly rizzed up his suit using inspiration of the Cainhurst Knight set because like. come on. it's too good to pass up the chance to pretty up with and looks a lot like his canon suit in parts.

Did I trace the foyer background art for Herzen Castle for the mockup just for laffs, only to realise partway that 1) Layton and Anton actually fought in the ballroom, and 2) the ballroom would actually make a much better boss arena setting because it's wide open and the arch from the front room leading into the ballroom could totally be the 'boss fog door' part better than the front room?

...so yeah I then drew the ballroom background without tracing this time like a true madman and had a hell of a time with perspective but the plus side is we also get the sword collection from the game there as a cameo because in Laytonborne the good professor brought his own already.

The Masked Gentleman / Randall

Had a bit of a time deciding how to Bloodborne-ify this guy because his suit in canon is actually really. really boring. it's just a white suit like cmon. so to give it that Bloodborne makeover I fell back on the classic shoulder-cape thing that almost all Bloodborne characters have, added some patterns and accessories based on the Mask of Chaos' patterns and the Decorative Old Hunter's set from the Old Hunters DLC (in the leg brace, forearm guard and the hints of gold chains around the upper arms).

He also gets a Threaded Cane, another trick weapon of Bloodborne fame which is as it suggests: A cane weapon that works a bit like a baton/sword combo but in its alternate form it's a whip covered in serrated metal blades which form the cane itself when locked together.

It seems very appropriate for Randall to be like a boss who starts out as the Masked Gentleman and then at half-or-less health you break his mask, reveal Randall and then wings burst out of his back as he enters his second phase rage mode. This concept part felt more DSouls-y than Bloodborne-y to me i think since Bloodborne is less fantastical and leans more into the body horror/monstrous kind of boss transitions? But at the same time it was too good an opportunity to pass on at least sketching out, plus get you some sick fallen angel imagery out of it.

Also the hanging arm pose miiight be a bit inspired by Artorias of the Abyss. just a bit.

Descole

i recall seeing a post somewhere once with this very low-res rare art of Descole sitting in a throne from somewhere i have no idea what it was for. and I remember it kinda reminded me of Lady Maria's promotional art for the Old Hunters DLC so that's why the last picture of Descole exists.

mf already dresses so extra i legit could think of nothing to add to make him more Bloodborne-y unlike the others. I also used his canon sword's design from the games with a custom sheath because again couldn't really think of anything more to do to make him fit more when he's already got a cool signature weapon to show off.

Caster SFW alphabet

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Due to the circumstances of her life she is ready to both give and receive any form of affection. She’s very careful about finding out and sticking to your preferred love languages.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

As usual with Fate someone has to be master and someone has to be a servant. As a friend she can be a bit of a tease but is nice overall.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

She almost always falls asleep when cuddling. The feeling of warmth and security really helps her relax.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Caster tries very hard to be a good housewife to varying degrees of success. Most of the time before cooking anything she has Shirou give her a lesson. She’s happy to clean as long as it doesn’t intrude on your time together. If it does she’s having the golems do it. One thing she does excel at is sewing, she’s great at fixing up your clothes and even making new ones.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

You will be betrayed and killed.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

While she would be over the moon if you proposed it’s very hard to actually pull it off. If she sees you moving around suspiciously or trying to keep something from her her paranoia will get the better of her. This will most likely lead to you getting stabbed and bleeding while she monologues about how she saw through you and knew you were cheating. When you tell her about the ring she immediately does a 180° and starts apologising through tears while healing your wound and saying how happy she is.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

No matter what kind of person you are or what she’s doing she always has an extremely delicate touch. 

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Everytime you get back home she jumps you with a hug giddy to show you what she’s been working on in your absence.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

She would not hold back about gushing to anyone who will listen how much she loves you but only if you’re not present. When she attempts to say it directly to you she gets incredibly shy.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Easily gets jealous due to her paranoid nature.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

She would enjoy long romantic kisses.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

She is honestly amazing with children. Actual peak parent material.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

She’d be very happy if you two had a routine together. Nothing special but things like brushing teeth next to each other, making breakfast together and that kind of stuff.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

She likes going on walks with you at night. The empty streets allowing you to soak in each other's presence.

O = Open  (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say  everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

A big part of the relationship would be helping her deal with the way her past has affected her so it would be a gradual process.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Mostly patient but there are certain things that tick her off really quickly.

Q = Quizzes  (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little  detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

She would do her best to remember a lot of the things about you.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

It would be the first time she got paranoid and thought you were doing something behind her back only to be proven wrong. It’s something that may seem stupid but it means a lot to her.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

She would put so many protective spells on you that you might actually end up bulletproof.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

She would always have elaborate plans she ropes anyone she can into.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

If I haven’t made it obvious yet she has major paranoia/trust/attachment issues.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

She is far more interested in putting  you in cute outfits than dressing herself up. Combined with her sewing skills you’re in for quite something.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Losing the one person in her life that didn’t use or betray her would definitely lead her into going completely insane and lashing out.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

At some point in the relationship when her insecurities get the best of her she would decide to use a love potion on you. However whatever she’d try seemingly wouldn’t work. She tried slipping it into your drink, putting it in food and even convincing you to drink it directly but nothing seemed to have an effect. She knew it should be working due to her proficiency in crafting and she even tested it on other people. She would eventually confront you about using some form of protection magic or being under the influence of someone else’s spell. This leads to you explaining that there’s no change because there’s nothing to change. She has never been more embarrassed in her life.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

She would not enjoy you being secretive.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

She insists on always sleeping with you no matter how small the bed.

The party trudged through the icy floor they'd found you on. 

At one point Laois pointed out where they'd dug you out of the ice. There were what looked like explosions, signs of battle, and a dead ice golem. Ahhh so they'd been fighting something else and your body had just happened to have been uncovered. That made sense. 

You spotted a chunk of fabric attached to...something, and shuddered. Looks like they hadn't collected everything. The experience of seeing your own flesh, disconnected and dead was surreal. Maybe you should take it along with you as a souvenir. Laois would probably be all too ready to help you pickle it. 

You felt a hand on your shoulder and jumped. Turning, you saw Chilchuck. 

"Hey, come on, you're starting to fall behind."

You hadn't even realized you'd stopped to stare at the remains of your death, but the party had indeed started to pull ahead. 

Chilchuck turned without another word and you fell in step beside him as you both caught back up to the party. 

The door to the next part of the dungeon opened into what looked like one long hallway, bending to the right off in the distance. You stepped through the threshold and immediately shucked off the blanket you'd had to borrow to use as a jacket. It felt wonderfully warm in here. 

As the party continued walking you noticed that they had been working together long enough to automatically sort themselves into an order that made sense for combat. Laois was up front with Senshi, the two most durable heavy hitters. Then Marcille, presumably for quick backup and/or healing. Then Chilchuck, who would need to be out of the way of any fighting, and would be best equipped to hear anything sneaking up from behind. Izutzumi drifted around wherever, up in front, back behind, racing ahead and then flopping down and digging a stone out of her shoe. You weren't sure what her role in the party was yet, but she seemed extremely agile and confident, so you'd guess she could hit a lot harder than her skinny frame and lack of obvious weaponry would suggest. They really were all very well coordinated and used to working with each other. 

You kept in line with Chilchuck. Both because of all the tactical stuff you'd just run through, and because it was nice to get to chat with another halffoot again. It'd been a year since you'd seen another halffoot when you went into the dungeon, and then another six months or so in the dungeon.

Up ahead Laois and Senshi appeared to be in excited conversation about cooking the remnants of the barometz. From the sounds of it Senshi was looking forward to taking advantage of the tender meat to make delicious stir fry, and Laois was theorizing about the best way to use the plant as bait for larger monsters.

You glanced at Chilchuck. "Laois and Senshi seem to be having fun."  

He chuckled. "Yeah they do that. They're both kinda freaks about monsters, Laois MUCH more so. That guy..." He shook his head ruefully. "I mean don't get me wrong, he's a good fighter, and the monster knowledge helps him fight and survive, and he's even picked up some healing magic so he's a good guy to have on your side, but he just does not understand social or cultural norms or how to deal with people. Plus he's just kinda a freak about it."

You nodded. Up ahead, Laois and Senshi dropped their voices a bit and started discussing meals that would be suitable for you to eat until you recovered from revival sickness. 

You grimaced. "Ah, have they not..."

"Realized we can hear them even if they think they're too far away? No they haven't, they still think of me as a tallman child after all, I doubt they clock that we can do stuff they can't." He snorted and said. "I bet they think of you as a toddler. After all they already think I'm a kid and you're so much shorter than me."

"Wha- hey!" You spluttered. "I'm not the one that's short, you're ridiculously tall! Being around the tall races has warped your idea of whats normal for sure."

Chilchuck grinned. "Regardless of what's normal for us they're still gonna ruffle your hair first chance they get. Mark my words." 

You'd interacted with enough of the other races to know he was probably right. You'd been able to work people underestimating you to your favor sometimes but that didn't mean it wasn't annoying. 

Up ahead there was a strangled yelp, like a cat being sat on. Marcille gasped. "Izutzumi!" And started sprinting ahead to where the corridor took a sharp right turn. 

Laois and Senshi followed suit. You and Chilchuck followed but quietly dropped back to keep some distance.

You came skidding around the corner to see a very mangled walking mushroom and Izutzumi standing over it looking cranky. 

"Izutzumi!" Marcille gasped out. "are you okay?? What happened??"

"I can't stand these things." Izutzumi growled. She turned to Senshi, who was already inspecting the mushroom. "You better not be thinking about putting that into my food! I will NOT be eating-"

You heard a faint series of "chunk" sounds, like a series of very large stones softly falling into place. You whipped your head around, looking for the source. Chilchuck also started glancing around, but no one else reacted. It must have been out of their hearing range. 

it didn't take long to find the source. A solid wall had risen up in the corridor you'd just come down, and doors and turns had opened up in the corridor you'd just entered. 

Chilchuck turned to Senshi and Izutzumi. "Stop squabbling about that! We've got bigger problems."

Starting a minecraft server with them! (pt.2)

Part 1: (With Teen Soukoku & DOA)

Port Mafia:

- It was most likely Elise’s idea to start the server, Mori wanted to make her happy so he forced everyone to play

- Elise is the one to let everyone do the work for her and than kill the enderdragon at the end (and steal all your credit & hard work)

- Mori goes into the mines to help her get all the things needed to find it

- Chuuya also starts to mine, but if you needed something he would come back up to help you

- Hirotsu would have a farm with Gin (he takes care of the animals)

- He would have every animal too, Cows, Pigs, Horses, Rabbits, Chickens, Sheeps, Polar Bears, Bees, Bats, etc.)

- Eventually he also gets a farm for the mobs from both the overworld & the neather

- Gin takes care of the food in the farm!

- She has watermelons, pumpkins, Wheat, etc.

- Gin also cooks for akutagawa when he fires out in an adventure

- Speaking of which, akutagawa is the explorer

- He hunts for villages, before killing all of the villagers & the iron golem

- Even tried to find a pillager mansion

- Or even shipwrecks, witches huts & more

- Also convinced Herobine is real and he wants to kill heroine

- Tachihara goes along with akutagawa sometimes but he just wants to murder everything (yes that includes animals)

- He got banned from hirotsus farm for trying to kill the sheep

- If he’s not with akutagawa, he’s killing every zombie & creeper he lays his eyes on

- During the day, Koyo collects flowers for her garden

- At night Koyo murders every single mob in sight

- Akutagawa saw herobine after lots of exploring & tried to tell everyone about it

- But no one else could find herobine

- Meanwhile Dazai had logged off the server with a herobine outfit (he hacked into it)

- The only unfortunate outcome was that chuuyas diamonds magically disappeared aswell…

Echo festival!!!

The fall festival of ebott centered all around the final harvest before winter! I will be holding this rp event from today (the 21st) to the 28th whenever I’m online!

All skeletons in the lineup will be available to chat with as well as many side characters that will be revealed as the festival goes on ;). If y’all don’t say who you want to meet when you rp, I’ll roll a wheel for a random encounter. Any anons joining us remember to add your name in each response so I know who I’m talking to 😭😭

Activities in this years echo festival will be:

The farmers market!: of course you can’t have a harvest festival without a bustling market filled to the brim with fresh produce and artisan goods! Try many native ebott foods and check out all the cool plants!

The animal contest: this year’s focus is large livestock! Some special catagories wil be cattle, dairy cows, riding boars, horses and raptors! But other larger farm animals will be displayed as well!

The wrestling matches: a Goldenvalley tradition is wrestling matches every echo festival. The monsters and humans are divided by weight (or put in a special class for golems and others of similar strength) and they wrestle the good old fashioned way: no magic, just skill!

A new show, the textiles gallery. The mettas are always looking for new hip colors and patterns to make the next big trend. Hopeful fashionistas are showing off their own homemade fabrics hoping to catch someone’s eye!

The yearly cooking contests theme this year is frozen treats! Aspiring chefs and hobbyists are to bring their best chilled dish, savory and sweet dishes are all accepted!

Due to the success that was the flour fight last year, it’s been decided to continue the tradition this coming year! So sadly while the water fight is no longer happening, it’s been decided that the flour is much safer for every one. Toddlers are recommended to sit this activity out while small children are required to be supervised at all time. The flour fight will be the final activity of the festival!

Of course, the echo festival is all about the echo flowers that give it its name. It’s customary to wear a flour crown of the flowers. However what color crown you wear will have different meanings.

Blue: friendship/platonic

Pale blue: looking for friendship

Pale green: child/youth

White: soulbonded or in a relationship

Purple: romantic interest

Pale purple: looking for love

The venue of the festival this year will be at fair fields in Goldenvalley. The venue has water access for hadal monsters and is mostly a large flat field surrounded by fenced crop patches on the edge of the property.

BSD Headcanon Late Night Talks

Dazai and Atsushi are best friends (soulmate if one were to ask how they felt about each other) since their eyes met. The breathless laughter of surprise warm happiness, the silly growls of hungry stomachs and the instant safety they never had once their names graced the empty air. They are best friends and would end the world for the other if it means keeping the other from harm. Dazai has proved this when he let himself get caught by the Port Mafia and beaten by someone he doesn’t care for. Atsushi proved this when they jumped off a flying whale, knowing Dazai is at the bottom waiting for him.

Best friends.

That’s why they have sleepovers every two days. (It would have been everyday but both fear the idea of co-dependency and actually having someone in their life. Almost as if having the person everyday was a dream that could be torn at any moment.) Why? Because it surprisingly helps them sleep better. So on the days of their sleepover, they would ditch work early (Dazai will do all his work, by himself the afternoon before to the lunch the next day. Cause a lot of strokes.) to run errands. Picking up groceries, snatching the latest horror films that Atsushi had been wanting to watch and Dazai was dreading.

The tiger vessel found it hilarious that the Ex-Mafia Executive hated scary movies.

Anyway! After they were done, they would head home and it doesn’t matter who’s home. (Atsushi, unsurprisingly, is the only one who has the knowledge of where Dazai truly lives.) So once at home, the dark brown hair man would play soft sound music with only instruments or opera music from different countries. (Carmen was Dazai’s favorite because he found the whole story hilarious while Atsushi found it annoying and stupid. Lion King was an agreeable favorite though.) The silver hair young adult would take out the pans and ingredients they needed.

It somehow became easy to cook with each other, more than they thought. Dazai would cut the vegetables, the meat or fish and toss it into pan. Atsushi to stir, fry and mix. Making a meal together made them feel human. Like they weren’t trapped in a clay golem created to hold them prisoner. Once everything goes quiet, Dazai will sometimes gaze into the air with empty eyes and softly tell his best friend the horrible shit he has done in the past. Especially what he did in the Port Mafia. Atsushi will listen with an open mind, knowing that one miss-step will cause the other to clamp up.

(He would always turn the stove off at these moments. These nights always took his full attention. Causing her to take deep even breathes to stop her shaking, to keep from spiraling at the thought of her person being like that blasted Headmaster. To try to process and work through the disgust he felt. They would slowly turn to their Osamu and ask in a soft tone if they could hug him. Never once did the idea of blackmail or punishment cross her mind. This would cause the rusted brown eyed male to break and talk about how truly empty he felt with his treatment of Akutagawa. Dazai would always be completely grateful for this and will cling to his tiger.)

In the same way, Atsushi will do the same. Talking about the orphanage and his treatment as if he was there in third person. (This too was never used as blackmail or a way to hurt the younger. In Dazai’s dark, fucked up mind this was the line no one cross.) Of course this led to conversation that neither could talk about. Like the last words of the dying Odasaku or the pain of brutal human experimentation or the hatred Book. Then when it was time to sleep, they will curl up (depending how they were filling that day, they would switch on who was the little spoon) and whisper their deepest, darkest wish they desperately beg would happen. Then they would fall into a comfortable silence as they listen to each other’s heart.

Then agency, mostly Yosano and Kunikida (both having their own sets of problems), don’t really understand why or how this became a tradition.

But Ranpo does.

He always knows.

He knows in the way how they stress on certain jobs then relax once they see the other’s figure. How they smile once they could hear the other’s voice. Could see how they pull each other from the past and enjoy the present. He could see how love and touch-starve these fools are desperately in need of a judgmental free zone. So quietly as he can, Ranpo helps in anyway he can. From babysitting Kyoka to running interference after life n’ death situation.

After all, he was the world’s greatest detective and knows that if one was gone then the other will follow. They were soulmates after all.

- When my rogue Rook is jogging I can hear the sound of the arrows in their quiver clinking against each other

- When you take Harding to practice her stone powers, after she moves the second one she raises her hands up in victory. Cute!!!

-The companion outfits!! They’re so detailed! The embroidery on Harding’s shirt, the intricacy of Bellara’s sleeves!! How elegantly Neve’s clothes are cut and draped! The little crow skulls on Lucanis’ buttons and fasteners!!

- The way the light glances off of Bellara’s earring. The hairs at the back of her neck that aren’t caught up in her bun

- The expressions!! They’re so good! The way Bellara’s brow wrinkles in the middle of her forehead under her Vallaslin; how she blinks rapidly when she’s talking about Cyrian (Bioware why can’t I hug her ;-;). How Neve smiles at you! Ahhhhh! Dare you not to fall for Lucanis when he looks at Harding all soft after he makes her coffee and she hates it!!!

- The way the grocery list/cooking rotation paper on the wall in the kitchen changes throughout the game

- Little notes everywhere where your companions write to each other and the people they care about! Harding’s letters to her mother! THE BOOK CLUB!

- The little references to the other games everywhere! Joining chalice, Aura’s letter, Blackwall’s commendation, Malcolm Hawke mention in Weisshaupt! Finding Thom’s little rocking griffon! Arainai’s Talon! The thing that made the Harvester in Golems of Amgarrak! The dog named Ostagar! The Arishok refusing to split from the Qun! Heir in the Diamond!

- Elgar’nan thinks Lusacan used to be bigger and Ghilan’nain still cares for her halla

-the whole Necropolis but ESPECIALLY the gardens

-the candlehops!

-How when you pet the cats the rumble feature activates on the controller because they’re purring

- The vendor in the market in Antiva who tells you the story of how she killed her husband if you return there repeatedly

It pisses me off SO BAD when Chilchuck keeps saying he can't fight. Why? Cause in the course of the manga, this lil dude manages to blind a dragon in one eye with a cooking knife he THREW AND ONE-SHOT A PHOENIX ON HIS OWN.

Sure he may not have been able to pierce through the ice golem for example and his small build isn't very practical for battles. But i'm still sure that if he were to fight at a distance he'd be able to deal some pretty good damage in addition to having an almost-perfect accuracy.

Dungeon Meshi Adventurer’s Bible Characters Part 2

Senshi, Izutsumi, and Falin

Senshi

Senshi's birthday is October 2. He's 112 years old. I don't remember if or where it was talked about, but I want to say dwarfs can live to around 250. Laios said they live about 2.5 times longer than Tall-men, which would put their life expectancy around 150. Either way, Senshi is an older fellow.

His int should be higher. Make it a 3. And shouldn't his stamina be lower? Dwarfs having lower stamina was a point brought up in the changeling arc.

All of Senshi's keywords stem from his first time in the dungeon. He lost his parents when he was 22, which would be the equivalent of 8. And according to his timeline, he and the rest of Gillan's team spent two years trapped in the dungeon before Senshi was the only survivor. He was 38 when Gillan died, equivalent to 15.

There's that note how Senshi didn't have the same interest in ancient technology and minerals that the other miners did. He likely joined them simply because he wanted to follow Gillan rather than due to any personal desires. Any maybe that helped contribute to why he survived both his initial encounter in the dungeon and all the years since. The dungeon never had to bear its fangs at him because he didn't want to disturb it.

Senshi's life is so heavily tied to the dungeon. His past, his motivations, his skills, and his desires are all linked to it. I imagine that if he could have any wish, it would be to try again. He was young and inexperienced when Gillan's team came to the dungeon. He couldn't fight or hunt, and all he could do was read the maps and figure out how to escape. But he only accomplished that after everyone was dead.

He probably wishes he could show Gillan that he became strong and dependable and he could be useful to a group of explorers who are lost in the dungeon with no way to escape and no supplies. Laios gave him the chance to prove it to himself, as well as help him overcome the various other concerns he had about his past.

Senshi's relationship chart includes the members of Gillan's miners. Interestingly, we have Senshi's opinions on them and their opinions on each other, but none of their opinions on Senshi. He might not have ever known what they think of him, or maybe it's because there's no point in getting the opinions of the dead.

Senshi's maxims are "Hold your spoon properly", "We were already part of the dungeon's circle", and "I've always wanted to have this soup one more time." I'd summarize it as "Respect and understand what you eat because we are all part of the environment we live in."

And Senshi's first death was indeed to the dungeon rabbits.

All the comics in the Adventurer's Bible could be safely labeled non-canon but I want to point out how I cannot find any reasonable moment in the story where Marcille, Chilchuck, and Senshi could have sat down to have this conversation.

To start, it would have to be after chapter 49 because that was when they first heard his backstory. But Marcille doesn't seem to have the bangs she has from that moment in the story.

Second, they're in their casual attire so they couldn't be on the sixth floor because it was too cold.

Finally, The layout of the brick wall behind Senshi is the pattern from the Tall-man built castle and town, not the Dwarf ruins.

Senshi said he'd only started cooking monsters about 20 years ago. Until then, maybe he got by using the golems to grow vegetables and trade with the orcs.

Marcille's father's love of history definitely rubbed off on her. Look at how interested she is in hearing Senshi talk about his experience when the dungeon was discovered.

Did Thistle flood the fourth floor in response to influx of adventurers? Or does Senshi mean that most of the more dangerous monsters in the fourth floor are recent additions?

Izutsumi

Of all the things the Adventurer's Bible could reveal about Izutsumi, I was not expecting it to reveal that she has only one pair of nipples.

Her birthday is April 21. Her name is "Unknown". I guess she was never given a name and Izutsumi is what she decided to call herself.

Appropriate stats. I would have assumed strength was a 3, but I guess you need to be physically strong to be effective with throwing weapons.

Izutsumi's beast soul is a great cat. I'm going to guess it's a leopard of some kind. Those live in Africa and Asia.

"Izutsumi thinks that both her patchwork appearance and the fact that she can't build good relationships are the fault of the monster's soul." Izutsumi, that second one is on you.

That thing @eldritchsteamhearted said about how the cat form is the base for Izutsumi really flips the script about several things about her. I think it makes more sense to assume her personality is the cat's processed through a human intellect. When they were in the Golden Castle village, Izutsumi became passive and acted more like a lazy house cat. The barrier in the village overwrites monster personalities to act more like domestic livestock. If Izutsumi's beast soul is the dominant one, then it would make sense the barrier caused a sudden shift in her personality because it rewrote how her cat brain is supposed to act.

Even though she doesn't have the dietary restrictions a cat normally would have, she'd still have a natural preference to eat what her original cat body wants.

The Adventurer's Bible notes Izutsumi was happy to eat mushrooms when she got turned into an orc. When the party got transformed the first time, they were all fully capable of using their new bodies without issue. Senshi could walk with a body with long limbs, Marcille could process everything she was hearing without being overwhelmed, and Izutsumi behaved like a kobold in battle. The brain is a part of the body so if their bodies were transformed, it would make sense their brains would be altered and their brains would just be wired to handle their new bodies.

Anyway, Izutsumi cat brain tells her to avoid mushrooms but the orc brain she got would tell her mushrooms are yummy, hence why she loved eating them when she was an orc.

Does Izutsumi have just the one kunai?

Yeah, she liked the coat and backpack Marcille and Chilchuck gave her. That's why they're her favorites.

Chilchuck is the only one in the party who doesn't see her as a cat. And it's probably because his dad-of-three-daughters instincts keep kicking in.

Izutsumi's maxims are "You've got pretty decent taste", "Come on, Bring it. I can take you all by myself!", and "I take the paths I like". I'll sum it up as "Have the strength to not need to rely on others so you can do and enjoy the things you want."

Death by shock is a rather bizarre death. And it was played for laughs when it happened.

I've seen the Izutsumi comic previously. There was a little hint of her preferring to snuggle with Chilchuck back in chapter 47 when Laios saw her sleeping on top of Chilchuck (And Chilchuck being really uncomfortable because of her weight).

That comment about Chilchuck having a higher body temperature is interesting. Do half-foots have naturally higher metabolisms than the other races? And does that contribute to them having shorter lifespans? Do dwarfs and elves have lower body temperatures?

There is a little bit of copy-pasting used to make this image. I drew a line showing roughly where the first repetition occurs. Also, notice that the little triangles are her ears.

A little bit of Izutsumi trying to share a bed with people might be her feeling lonely. She'd rather share a bed with Laios than sleep alone.

And Chilchuck went full protective-dad mode when he saw Laios petting her like she was a cat.

Falin

Falin's birthday is December 1. I don't know why, but I thought she was 24. She would have loved Senshi's Man-eating plant tart.

I have to just go with what the book says on these stats since most of what we know about Falin is from flashbacks. Full agreement on the stamina though.

The keywords section actually gives a lot of details about Falin that the story never managed to. Laios's people skill is more focused on understanding their behaviour so he becomes far more anxious when he feels like people are being hostile because he doesn't know why and assumes he did something wrong. Falin doesn't seem to register people's feelings at all unless she likes them. The book says she "senses that her father is clumsy with words, and that her mother worries a lot."

Huh. So Falin is nearsighted and that's why she's always squinty-eyed. And the chimera thing fixed her eyesight. Falin had a mark on her chin from when she was little so old injuries carried over to her new body. And she squinted her eyes throughout the final chapter and MMT14 so I'd assume she didn't keep the corrected vision.

Falin was 9 when Laios left home and a year later she went to the magic academy. She was there for 8 years and ran away the moment she reunited with Laios. We don't get any first-hand accounts about her opinions and experience at the academy, so I don't know whether or not she enjoyed her time there.

Everyone is generally positive about Falin. Senshi thinks all Tall-men look feminine, hence his comment. It's also why the fake Laios he made looked like her. Chilchuck has known her probably longer than anyone else aside from Laios. Kinda surprised he's uncomfortable around her.

Falin's maxims are "Let my brother...GO!", "I'm sorry. I'm taking him back", and "Wow! Oh wow! Wow! Wow!" I'm going to summarize hers as "Care for the living, be kind to the dead, and never stop being excited about the world."

So healing magic doesn't necessarily have to hurt. But you have to use additional magic to make it not hurt.

The only other point of reference I can find of someone using healing magic is when Mr Tansu healed Marcille in chapter 19 and Marcille didn't seem to feel any pain when he did it.

Honestly, I think Marcille just doesn't see the point in spending the extra magic to numb the pain when healing someone. She just wants to blow stuff up and commit international crimes with her magic. She only knows healing and support magic because it's a practical skill to have.

You know what else fiddle's with your sensations? Ibuprofen. And if you're in a situation where numbing your teammate's sense of pain while healing them puts them in danger, then they're probably in a situation where making them feel the pain when healing them is an even worse idea.

The second Falin comic is more of a world-building addition. It tells us what a priest does if they're not an adventurer. If Laios hadn't visited Falin, she would be working as a gravekeeper which Marcille says is a stable and respected job. I'd think Falin would get bored of that line of work pretty quickly with how free-spirited she is. She and Laios are where they are because they can't sit still, they're impulsive, and they like the thrill of adventure and discovery.

But they would also love a steady income as well.
