New Audio: Godiva's Cinematic "Lions and Mermaids"
New Audio: Godiva's Cinematic "Lions and Mermaids" @heygroover @romainpalmieri @DorianPerron
Godiva is an emerging, 20-something Jacksonville, FL-based singer/songwriter. She can trace the origins of her career to when she was a child: The classically trained North Floridian started performing with the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus when she was eight. She then moved to pageantry and singing competitions. Enjoying writing and performing her own original material, she began recording and…

I wanted to draw a naked lady, so I drew what I think my Rook's body type is. I loved DA2's elves and how long and lanky they were, so I played with that a little. She is 5'5, so pretty average height, but compared to Emmrich she's over one foot shorter than him.
She has a dancer's body type as spell blades are rather athletic and flexable. Toned muscles, which are more obvious in her arms cause she's swinging weapons all the time.
Used this drawing by godiva ghoul for reference.

why jfabe is NOT!!!! boring and lifeless and proving that wrong, an informational thread discussing their relationship and dynamic, because honestly im getting tired of ppl saying their boring
Tumblr media
contains s3 spoilers!
The relationship between JFK and abe from Clone High is something alot of people within the community discussed, especially before s3, being talked about more after s2's finale. Many speculated that the two would remain friends or even become more than that.
Now with season 3 out, we have a lot more things to work out with, specifically episode 3. It's something a lot of people are too afraid to admit, but jfabe/abefk would make the show a lot more interesting, rather than its repeatable joanabe plotline.
So, I'm here to talk about the inner workings of this pair, why their so interesting, and why they work out so much, whether platonic or not. If ur not a fan of jfabe/abefk, or heavily dislike the ship, I'd recommend turning away from this post.
Introduction, the who, the when, the why, the how...and their differences n similarities
So, we all know these two characters. JFK the beloved, Abe the hated. Something that many people picked out of the 2020 clone high fandom. But what if i told you that the beloved and the hated were truly meant to be together from the start?
What we already know is that they are the complete opposite of each other in many ways. JFK is meant to be a parody on 90s jocks from highschool movies and tv shows. Abe is the weak nerd who desperately wants to be cool.
JFK is buff and shorter, Abe is tall and lanky. JFK is a douchebag, Abe is the nicer guy. The list goes on and on. And they even have stuff in common, such as the fear of abandonment and the fear of ruining things.
But one difference i can note is that Abe is way more naive than JFK, JFK is portrayed as empty-headed, but not empty-headed enough to not realize whats going on. Of course, despite the differences, both characters make a really good team.
And this was even evident in s2 ep10, aka the finale, where they both realize that they make a great "duo of bros who'll remain friends for the rest of their lives". Jfabe shippers were FEEDING on this shit back then you have no idea
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So with this stuff out of the way, it's time to talk about my favorite episode out of season 3.
Bible Humpers: A Much Needed Praycation
This episode revolves around JFK getting tired of having meaningless sex with girls and partying hard, and decides to seek out a new life when he and Abe discovers the prayer pals club, hosted by Lady Godiva. And at first, Abe is happy to see that JFK is taking on new opportunities.
Tumblr media
"Where the slut goes, the wing slut follows."
But eventually, JFK starts straying away from Abe and his friendship, to the point of even FORGETTING about the broniversary that Abe had planned for the both of them (he literally baked a giant cake for him, look at me and tell me thats straight cmon now).
Seeing how Abe had already lost Joan and Gandhi, he didn't wanna lose JFK either, and does everything he can to make him happy and thats so clear. And even at the end of the episode, it's revealed that Abe even respected his choice on ultimately choosing celibacy.
Tumblr media
He really does care a bunch for JFK, liking him for who he truly was (compared to JFK's other dates) and respecting his choices. And despite choosing celibacy over Abe, the two still remain close, which really tells you how great their bond is.
So something HAS definitely changed throughout the years, from them hating each others guts to potentially becoming clone highs next couple...which didn't happen, and I'm still petty about it i will admit.
Tumblr media
But even if they didn't become canon at the end, you could really tell that some people who worked on this episode wanted them to be a thing, and that's a good enough sign for me that they could hopefully become canon in the next season if we ever get one (still petty though).
Let's circle back to season 1 again. I'm not making a jfabe thread without mentioning Litter Kills: Literally, which is another episode that jfabe shippers fed on. In this episode, JFK's close friend Ponce dies, and he's left to grieve over him.
And in this episode, we see a side of JFK that we never saw before. He starts wondering why the hell he's feeling all of these emotions, because he's a Kennedy, and he's not used to them. But Abe helps him realize that emotions like this are normal.
Tumblr media
And even if the two hated each other, Abe apologized to him in the end and finally realized his mistakes. It seemed like Abe disliked him, yet he cares about him. Abe never knew what if felt like, because he hasn't lost a friend close to him.
So he starts berating Cleo for comforting JFK and was even aggressive towards JFK as well, believing that he was only doing all of this just to take Cleo away from him. That was all because he NEVER knew what it was like. But he finally understood.
He was sorry, but he felt like he couldn't do much to help because he didn't experience the same thing. So he just hugged JFK and held him...for a really long time.
But that was just enough for JFK, all he needed was comfort, and Abe chose to do that. So even at the episode, he couldn't help but ask JFK if he was alright. And by the next episode, JFK was already feeling better. All it takes is someone to tell you that its gonna be okay.
So what I'm trying to say is despite their own anxieties, flaws, characteristics, whatever, their PERFECT for each other. I don't like how people label them as "boring", when their so much more deeper than that.
Tumblr media
Jfabe/AbeFK is one of my comfort ships for this exact reason. Their lore, dynamic and relationship goes beyond that, i don't ship them just because i think their cute, but because their interesting, and it may seem like im going insane over a white boy ship, but i truly, truly, from the bottom of my heart, love this ship to pieces, and hopefully people can see that through me. Thank you, clone high.

Murder in the Dark vs The Green Mill Murder
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID 1: Screencap of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries episode 'Murder in the Dark'. Phryne is shown from the waist up wearing a Cleopatra costime with a large gold headdress, a large gold collar and a white bra style top. /End ID]
[ID 2: Screencap of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries episode 'The Green Mill Murder'. Phryne and Jack are sat behind a table, him in a suit and her in a white hat and coat with a fur collar. Phryne holds a trumpet mute to her mouth, apparently blowing into the narrow end. Jack watches her. /End ID]
We've got a season one special for our penultimate round 1 vote: Murder in the Dark vs The Green Mill Murder. Remember to consider the following when casting your vote:
Does this plot make any sense at all?
Method of murder(s)
Absurdity of characters' behaviour (main or guest)
Wild historical/cultural/other inaccuracies
Supporting statements
1x11 - Murder in the Dark
Nominators say: "In the dark is a good description for how I felt watching this."
Why did Foyle kill Marygold?
Last episode there was no sign of Arthur at the circus in Phryne's flashbacks but now he was there and toffee apples were important somehow???
Mr B indulging in Guy's "special" fudge.
It had a ridiculous costume party. Pirates! Anthony and Cleopatra! Lady Godiva!
Anything involving Isabella is ridiculous on principle (I love it).
1x3 - The Green Mill Murder
Nominators say: "*suspicious squiting*"
I’m not convinced you could even shoot a dart out of a mute when it’s actually in use (the air coming out of the bell of a horn is barely enough to notice), let alone shoot it out.
He could practically have hit ANYONE in the club with his dart!
That second marriage thing came kinda out of nowhere?
Phryne gets a Tiger Moth several years before they were actually available.
All of the guest characters were extremely melodramatic about everything.

drawing isobel ' s hair inspired me to think carefully about how she wore her hair in different stages of her life .
of course , hair is CRITICAL to an Umbra Witch , considering that it ' s the conduit that allows her to summon infernals . but also , * insert something profound about women and their relationship to their hair *
firstly, as AN UMBRA CLAN MEMBER ,
isobel wore her hair in three large curls . . . sort of like baguettes , but mostly resembling the bottom half of a giant honey bee / rock bee . two in the front and one in the back . these represented the three madamas she contracted with . nice and simple and clean is the way that you ' re making me feel tonight ----- , her go - to hairstyle as a witch .
during her 150 YEARS OF ISOLATION ,
her hair was in long , loose strands , ( almost rapu.nzel - esque ) they were all draped around her cell like those fabrics you hang from event venue ceilings . these were a stand - in for chains , because even though isobel was TECHNICALLY free to go outside , external stimuli made her visions pop up and caused her intense headaches .
but WHEN SHE ' S NEWLY - DISPLACED IN TIME ,
having lost Everything , her hair is significantly shorter than her time in her cell , but still long enough that it reaches godiva hair lengths . however , it prominently features features frayed ends , making it seem like that she ripped her own hair to leave the cell ( she did not , the strand of time cut them off when she tumbled into it )
after she MOVES FORWARD IN TIME ,
her hair is choppily cut , with a fringe over her right eye , which is a dig at the lumen sages who held the right eye of light , one of the eyes of the world and the counterpoint to the left eye of darkness that the umbra cared for . not only that , but due to her exposure to the threads of time , her hair is streaked with black . not hair , though . the black locks may look like hair from far away but they ' re not made of individual hairs .
in THE PRESENT DAY ,
after she ' s sorted out her emotions from the fall of her clan , isobel returns to her hair rolls , but with the black streaks in it . also she wears a floppy hat because hats are nice : )

So, @randombtsprincessa tagged me in her Tulip Tagged Games, so here we go!
1. Three Current Ships:
1st- Sesshomaru x Sango (Inuyasha): Non-canon as all hell, but I loved this ship back in the day. My daughter has discovered anime, and I'm doing a rewatch of Inuyasha with her and rediscovered the love. Thankfully, people produce fics for this pairing.
2nd- Killi x Tauriel or Killiel (The Hobbit movies): I've been a fan of this pairing from the very moment they shared the movie screen together, and I still am now. The Hobbit was in DESPERATE need of female characters as there were zero in the book, and so Tauriel is a movie only character and their romance is movie verse only. I love the gender flip dynamics on this one. There's an age gap, she's the older one because she's an elf and he's a dwarf. There's a height difference, she's the taller one because, again, she's an elf and he's a dwarf. There is the badass and damsel dynamic, but she's the badass and he's the damsel in distress.
3. Siuan x Morraine (The Wheel of Time): I'll be upfront, I do NOT like the books, but I enjoy the TV series. This pairing has everything, longing, secrecy, tragedy, redemption, sexy hotness, and the fact that they were made for each other. This is a WLW pairing, and I am an unabashed femslasher. I guess I will take this time to bemoan the fact that great WLW pairings get next to no love in fandom while MLM pairings are panted after with an intensity that borders on the desperate. As a queer woman I say this: Tis not fair.
2. First Ship:
Kazami x Sui (NP by Banana Yoshimoto): As a bisexual girl growing up in a time where gay and lesbian representation was few and far between, there was even less about bisexuality. NP was a novel about a young Japanese woman named Kazami Kano who was struggling with, among other things like translating a short story that seems to result in the suicide of everyone who tries to translate it, the notion that she might be bisexual and that she might be attracted to and want to date a woman named Sui. This was the first time I REALLY shipped a pairing, that I invested beyond the norm in a couple. I was just so happy to see this depiction of emerging bisexuality in a young woman, that I gobbled it up. I still own this book, and every now and then, I will reread it.
3. Last Song I Listened To:
Artemis by Lindsey Stirling
4. Last Movie I Watched:
I just rewatched The Old Guard on Netflix with Charlize Theron. Can't wait for the sequel to come out this year!
5. Currently Reading:
The Ghosts of Eden Park by Karen Abbot: It's a gossipy true crime/history book about bootleggers, murder and Prohibition in 1920's Cincinnati, Ohio. What can I say? Crime is always classier when it's in the 1920's.
6. Currently Watching:
I just finished, as in yesterday, season 1 of Surreal Estate on Hulu. It's a SciFi network show about a fictional real estate agency that specializes in selling haunted houses. It's not a Ghost Hunter style show, it's a regular horror/comedy show. It's really fun and everyone should watch it. Season 2 will be released sometime this year.
7. Currently Consuming:
I just ate 3 pieces of Godiva chocolate that I got for Valentine's Day and drank a passion fruit La Croix.
8. Currently Craving:
Like any good Jew on a cold and windy day, I am craving shakshuka. Which are yolky eggs cooked in tomatoes, with peppers, garlic, other spices, and at least in my family, served over rice.
Now to tag some other people!

Dropkick on my Devil!
邪神ちゃんドロップキック
(Anime + Manga)
Supernatural slpastick by Yukiwo
Era: 2010s/ 20s
Rating: S
Plot: Yurine, a gothic lolita, finds in a used bookstore a grimoire with an ritual to summon a devil. She succeeds in summoning an ancient demon called Jashinchan, a girl with blond Lady Godiva hair in two bowties and the bottom part of a snake. However, she has no plans other than to see if she could, and both discover without a return spell, the only option left is for Jashin-chan to try to dropkick Yurine to death. Easier said than done, since Yurine can easily overpower her and doesn't take lightly to her attempts.
Length: ongoing (time of writing, around 270 chapters and 37 episodes)
Thoughts: The show that Tumblr made me watch because I really wanted to know the context for this, and I'm glad I did. What a collection of characters, you have Jashin-chan, a gremlin with (between other things) a gambling problem, an habit to store food to eat later and then forgetting about it, to loan money and abuse her friends, and trying to kill Yurine, all behaviours she finds abhorrent and punishes her violently for. They are joined by Medusa, Jashin-chan's kind childhood friend (or even more than that) and primary enabler of her gambling habits, Minos, her other childhood friend, an energetic and hard working minotaur with a penchant for eating beef and there's also Mei Tachibana, a kleptomaniac cop who really wants to have Jashin-chan, and the ice demons Yusa and Koji. Since there are demons, there must be also angels, like poor Pekora, an angel who lost her halo and consequently her powers and is now forced to work in several part-time jobs while living in a box on a park, but still too prideful to accept Yurine's help, believing she's a witch, at least until her stomach starts growling. Over time, you also get Poporon, one of her apprentices, who wants to kill her and take her place, and after having her halo eaten by Jashin-chan, both are on the run from Pino, a second apprentice sent to exterminate both for living between demons. Until she also loses her halo after being suplexed by Poporon, who wanted to steal, and now is afraid Lierre, their superior, has come to earth to punish them all.
It's a show that lives on throwing all these characters into a scenario and see how it plays out, and rarely fails at doing so, slowly expanding the cast to bring more chaos to the mixture. Early stories focus more on Jashin-chan doing something that annoys Yurine, which can go from trying to kill her, wasting their groceries money in pachinko, usually followed by mooching off poor Medusa, being rude (including pointing at her), and she's usually punished by being beaten up in an extreme way, but then we also get some stories of them just hanging out and some sweet moments like Jashin-chan getting a potion that gives her legs and Medusa some contact lenses that allow her to walk between people without a paper bag in her head and they go on a date, and by the second season Jashin-chan becomes less of a jerk but even more of a gremlin. The manga even has even incorporated going full meta into the story - Yusa and Tachibana lament having less time as more characters are added and not even appearing on the anime key art, and as the time of writing they teamed up with Jashin-chan's mom, who after beating them joins them to "spice things up". The adaptation uses some chapters but mostly does stuff that they found funny for the medium - a throwaway joke about a 6-verse song actually becomes a 10 minute song by the end of the following season, or adding Hatsune Miku cameos on the third season. It's probably my favourite ongoing series at the moment and it's not hard to see why it's one of the modern shows that can be called a true cult classic.
Recommended to: fans of unhinged gremlin behaviour
Plus:
They're all so cute together. Even when Jashin-chan is spending the dinner's money on pachinko and Yurine slices and serves her snake part like a ham.
Jashin-chan's range of expressions is something else
Minus:
The third season might feel a bit weird and a tourism board promotion, but just roll with it.

Band Recommendations Part 2 - 70’s and Glam Rock
Do you like bands such as Queen, Blondie, David Bowie, the Clash, and Fleetwood Mac? Here are some bands and artists like that!
1 - T. Rex
This is by far my favorite band/artist on this list. Fronted by Marc Bolan, this glam rock and psychedelic folk band is sorely underrated by modern fans.
My favorite albums are Electric Warrior and The Slider which are from 1971 and 1972, respectively. T. Rex is super reminiscent of David Bowie from that same early 70’s era.
Favorite Songs - “Metal Guru”, “Jeepster”, “Mystic Lady”, and “Raw Ramp”
2 - Sparks
This band is the only one on this list that is still active. They released their first album in 1970 and have released music every year or two since.
They are definitely quantity over quality, but there definitely are some gems in the discography. They recently collaborated on an album (called FFS) with Franz Ferdinand, and in my opinion, it is some of their best work.
They have a very eclectic, psychedelic sound that can be a bit jarring, but they are lyrically talented. My favorite albums, other than FFS, are Propaganda and Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins
Favorite Songs - “All You Ever Think About Is Sex”, “When Do I Get To Sing ‘My Way”, “Angst In My Pants”, and “Don’t Leave Me Alone With Her”
3 - The Velvet Underground
“I know who the Velvet Underground is,” you might be saying. I promise you, there is so much untapped greatness with this band. “Pale Blue Eyes”, “Femme Fatale”, “Sunday Morning”, and “After Hours” are all great, but some of their stuff from Loaded and White Light/White Heat is some of their best work.
This band is great, and if you didn’t love them the first time you listened to them, I beg you to give them another shot.
Favorite Songs - “Lady Godiva’s Operation”, “Beginning to See The Light”, and “What Goes On”
4 - The Kinks
You’ve definitely heard a song or two by the Kinks. They are the epitome of 60’s rock and pop. I don’t really know what to say about them other than you NEED to listen to their self-titled album.
Favorite Song - “You Really Got Me”
5 - Television
This is by far the most underrated band in this list. They definitely have a darker sound than many others, but their punk-y sound does not detract from how fun their music is. Their best album (imo) is Marquee Moon.
Favorite Songs - “See No Evil” and “Venus”
