Greatest mafia movie of all time?

Pre 70s Coppola was bad. He worked on softcore porn, a Psycho knockoff called Dementia 13 and a movie where a leprechaun tries to solve racism in America (Finian's Rainbow).

Post 70's Coppola was mixed. Godfather 3 isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be but it is strictly ok at best. Megalopolis is an incredible set of scenes that don't work together at all. Rumble Fish is apparently quite good but I haven't seen it.

70's Coppola was maybe the greatest directorial run of all time? Godfather 1, The Conversation and Godfather 2 (in the same year!) and Apocalypse Now to round out the list.

In 1972 I'd bet that no one on Earth, least of all him, would expect him to make 4 of the greatest films of all time in a row. The Conversation was the first film I ever wrote about here and my personal number 1.

shout out to when i told my dad about goncharov and he figured out it was fake because i told him "1973 martin scorsese film with robert de niro" and he said that wasn't possible because the godfather came out in 1972 and the godfather part II came out in 1974 and they wouldn't have had time to make a movie in between. a perfectly good jest, foiled by this man's weird and vast knowledge set
