Delivery and Deliverance (Isaiah 66:7-11)
To love is to love. Without conditions. To love a friend but hate an enemy is to cancel out the love. It must be all love, or it isn’t love, at all.
Before she was in labor she gave birth;before her pain came upon her she delivered a son.Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things?Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be delivered in one moment?Yet as soon as Zion was in labor she delivered her children.Shall I open the womb and not deliver? says the Lord;shall I, the one who delivers, shut the…

Cultivating a Biblical Mind
The stability of Christians is largely predicated on the biblical content and continuity of their thinking. It is not only what they think, but what they continue to think that provides stability in their souls. When God’s Word—divine viewpoint—flows through their daily thoughts, it enables them to frame life from a divine perspective and respond properly from a position of strength. The more…

Before my Miracle, I would not have risked this hike with my family. It would have been too dangerous. If I had a seizure out here, it would have been difficult to bring me back to safety. Going to Utah to celebrate our 25th anniversary was the highlight of our lives and I’ll never forget the blessing of being alive again! A Guest Post by David Rice Six years ago this month, perhaps to the day, I nearly died from lack of care by medical professionals who missed that I was dying of a pulmonary embolism. On the 23rd of November, 2017, I was struggling to breathe, and my body wouldn’t heal. I think one of the blood clots, or a group of them, broke free from my lungs and made it to the back of my brain. As they lodged there and starved my brain of oxygen, they sent my body into a crisis, which led to full-body seizures. But in a twist of fate, God’s mercy or plan, or an attack by Satan, the seizures never led to loss of consciousness. My ability to maintain awareness, diminished as it was, during the seizures would bring another type of damage to my life. I continued to work for another four years until I lost my job at Burrell. As good a teacher as I was, my seizures were flaring up and causing my clients to be traumatized by them. I was angry at God, the sovereign ruler of this world. Like a fool, I was angry at a God who could create me and then unravel me utterly. God, my savior, abandoned me to be sifted like Peter and tormented like Job. Blame In previous moments, I could accept some blame for what had happened to me in my life. When I lost my job, some of the blame could be mine. Sometimes, all the blame could be mine. Yet, with the pulmonary embolism and seizures, none of the blame could be mine. I had done nothing to bring them on, nor had I foreseen that the healthiest moment of my life could turn so quickly. Yet, I still blamed myself. The Enemy filled me up with words of self-loathing. I was determined to punish myself and others. I was angry at God and took it out on myself. My anger gave the Enemy a place in my life and allowed him and his demons to torment me. God loved me, though. He told me that I was his child and patiently called me home. He had carried me long enough through these last six years that I finally recognized His presence. And once I did, I could no longer deny Him or His work. Resigned to Pain Forever I’ve been receiving relief slowly from my seizures and back pain over this summer from the medical community, but I had resigned myself to always having them. After all, people died from Cancer, and people lived with Down Syndrome. God worked through them, and he could work through me. And part of me still believed I deserved it, as if it was my fault. I saw in my future a slow decline into dementia where my mind left me. Last night, a profound miracle occurred through God’s hands. It upset the narrative I had in my mind and heart that I deserved my suffering. As I was speaking with my Bible study, the emotions of my pain overwhelmed me. And Then Something Happened…. Taking Good Advice Pays Off
When looking at Psalm 32, I searched various translations. The Message, though paraphrased, really hits the mark and plainly points to God’s truth about sin. The question you need to consider before you read this psalm is, what do you do about your sins? Do you ignore them, excuse them, blame them on others or do you own up and confess your wrong doings? You know what is right and failing to do…

The God Who Sees
1 Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of Manasseh the son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 2 And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the chiefs and all the congregation, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying, 3 “Our…

Do Not Try to Figure Out God's Provision
Moses was a man, whom God chose to fulfill the call of God on his life. He was the man, with whom God talked face to face, as recorded in the Bible. And even Moses, the man who knew the miracles from God, was trying at one point, to figure out, how God would provide. Moses was just like Apostle Peter, who was trying to figure out, why should he go and try fishing again, because Jesus had told…

God's Loving Kindness in Genesis and Exodus
Reading through Genesis and Exodus can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster of emotions. While these books reveal humanity’s brokenness through shocking moments of sin and judgment, they also profoundly demonstrate God’s loving kindness, patience, and justice. BODY AND SPIRIT: LIFE'S LESSONS REINFORCED
Through the years, Gayle has shared the following with friends who are recovering from accidents or lengthy hospitalizations. Sunday she learned another friend was coping with a fractured ankle after falling on skis as she was getting off a chair lift and was jostled or startled by an over-anxious skate boarder. The Sheep Need Boundaries (Jeremiah 23:1-8)
"You get what you tolerate." Henry Cloud
“What sorrow awaits the leaders of my people—the shepherds of my sheep—for they have destroyed and scattered the very ones they were expected to care for,” says the Lord. Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to these shepherds: “Instead of caring for my flock and leading them to safety, you have deserted them and driven them to destruction. Now I will pour out judgment on…

God Works All Things Together for Good
The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Christians in Rome, acknowledged “the sufferings of this present time” (Rom 8:18), our inner “groaning” (Rom 8:23), and our “weakness” as humans (Rom 8:26). However, he shifted the focus away from our difficulties and onto God, stating, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according…

Good News! Isaiah 65 Reveals What is coming!
Chapter 65 of Isaiah begins with God’s answer to Isaiah’s prayerful answer of how long will you hold yourself back from us? 64:12 “After all this, Lord, will you hold yourself back? Will you keep silent and punish us beyond measure?” The Lord answers Isaiah by saying He has revealed himself to those who did not ask and to His people even in their obstinance. 65:1-2 ““I revealed myself to those…

Misty Eyed
Image via A.I. “Where do you want to eat lunch?” asked Charlie. “I don’t care,” said his wife. They wound up at a taco place all the way across town from where they live. While in the middle of their meal, several people jumped up and started looking out the windows. Charlie got up to see what they were looking at. A homeless man and woman were fighting. The man left and the woman started crying…
