*holds head in hands* Somehow, it hasn’t ever clicked before how Wolfwood must have told Vash about the orphanage. That Wolfwood, someone deeply driven by fear and trauma, who has actively and openly feared Vash himself, must have confessed about Hopeland. About what it meant to him. About his fears for it, maybe even. Because Vash came to aid him so quickly, he must have known. And yeah, logically, Vash should have been going after Knives, but he knew how important that battle was to Wolfwood and came anyway. This was a place that Wolfwood was willing to—and did—die for. And Vash came because they trusted each other implicitly to always have each other’s backs. Vash knew the stakes, but he came. Wolfwood was terrified of Vash, but he trusted him.

this will probably be of interest to like, a total of 6 people following me, but i feel like i'll go crazy if i don't scream about it from the rooftops
so! for your viewing pleasure, a filmed adaptation of henrik ibsen's play BRAND, made in 1959 and starring patrick mcgoohan (of THE PRISONER, most famously -- and boy, it is a trip and a half seeing how many of the wilder ideas in that show can be traced directly back to this production). recommended for all of you that like tragic byronic heroes, turbulent priests, and/or old-school stage theater with a dash of trippy symbolism
"Remember: an angel with a flaming rod drove man from Paradise. He set a gulf before the gate. Over that gulf you cannot leap!" "The way of longing remains!"

ok so apparently YECs believe that noah put the dinosaurs and glyptodonts and gorgonopsians and such creatures on the ark. so like when it landed and everyone disembarked did the dinosaurs just all immediately die? that would suck so bad like imagine you’re one of two deinonychuses left in the whole world and you get off the boat and then god is like “eh changed my mind about these guys”

Discipline Not Desire Determines Your Destiny
1 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the Lord of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim. 3 And they carried the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And…

I prefer the longer version for this one. Scrolling adds something to the dream pages.
Also page 4.5 is one the Bluesky (NSFW)
The comic was not made with sexual scenes in mind, besides one, so it's at your digression to interact with "half pages".

For context, sonic and shadow are referencing the theory that professor Gerald based shadow's design off a mural from an echidna temple (the same on that lies at the base of the ARK).
It depicted a hedgehog with upwards spines, fighting chaos, the god of destruction.
The mural may have depicted sonic, so shadow is modeled after super sonic.
That brings up a good question, though...Where did he get the DNA? where did he find the mural? From Doom? or did he find a way to access mobius...? Maybe that impressed Doom enough to offer a deal...

Rewatching bits of S1 is a revelation for the stuff in S2.
In the ark sequence, we see Aziraphale standing by and watching the preparation for the Great Flood, clearly in some state of anxiety about it. When Crawley questions him about it and says “not the kids, you can’t kill kids”, Aziraphale straight-up tells him “you can’t judge the Almighty, Crawley.”
Fast-forward to 2500BC, the first time they see each other after the flood and, once again, the lives of children are on the line. This time, Aziraphale is immediately horrified when he finds out.
This time, he doesn’t just stand there and watch. He goes and actively puts himself between Crawley and the children. When Crawley turns up, Aziraphale is still wary of him and almost falls for him saying “I want to destroy the blameless children of blameless Job”. But the second he realises the goat-kids were saved, he knows Crawley still believes “you can’t kill kids”.
That’s why he’s so convinced that Crawley absolutely won’t kill Job’s children, even when Crawley miracles up a flaming inferno to engulf the house. “Are you sure, angel?” Crawley taunts him and Aziraphale - unafraid and absolutely certain that this demon will thwart Heaven’s will - says yes.
And when those very children are in danger of being killed off by Heaven directly, to fulfil God’s will for Job to lose all his old possessions, Aziraphale lies to protect them. He’s terrified after, afraid he’s destined to fall, but he did it anyway because he wanted to protect them, just as he gave away his weapon to protect Adam and Eve outside the garden.
And I feel like this is the big turning point for him. Giving his sword away wasn’t necessarily defying orders, but because of Crawley and the Job situation, Aziraphale makes the active choice to make a stand against Heaven’s plans. He’s terrified, but he does it, and then he keeps on doing it.
Every single action he takes against Heaven is in the name of protecting people: giving Adam & Eve the sword, shielding Job’s children, trying to teach the Antichrist to be good, swan-diving out of heaven to protect earth, hiding Gabriel to keep him safe, shouting at the Archangels and Demons like naughty children when they threaten to bring a war on and now, walking back into Heaven in the hopes of beginning a revolution for the whole system.

I’m definitely reaching but I swear to god if it’s not just the lighting in that poster and Shadows eyes were actually more brownish while on the Ark and they do that little niche thing I adore where a characters eyes just become different after experiencing something horrendously traumatic, I’ll bite someone

Thank God splatoon 3 didn't end up introducing a playable cuttlefish dlc like I feared last year (I honestly don't think we need more new playable species, would've been too sudden, my expectations were on the floor after rotm) but the cuttlefish visuals are still so suspicious to me. This hat has to be on purpose. That's absolutely not a fucking squid or octopus
Tumblr media
And this is undeniably a cuttlefish (and the double fin shape resembles the hat)
Tumblr media
Like how the lack of mammals in the splatoon world and ark Polaris was something suspicious in the previous games, and characters like marigold and Glen fiddler and lil judd are suspicious now.... It's way more subtle but I think this could be the splatoon team planting some seeds in case they decide to introduce cuttlefish as a separate species in the splatoon world. ill be keeping it in the back of my mind

THIS IS KILLING ME.
I picked up tbhk in 2021 thinking it was a silly monster of the week style supernatural comedy. Oh my god, how AidaIro has tricked me. I should have turned back before I got too invested, but tbhk is a part of me now, I think I’d die without it.
IVE BEEN SOBBING FOR THE PAST TEN MINUTES AT MIDNIGHT OVER CHAPTER 120!
Spoiler warning for chapter 120 (read it if you haven’t already and suffer with me):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After chapter 119, this world’s Kou and Mitsuba were basically killed in the red house, once again proving that those two can literally never be happy. When Kou said he’d die for Mitsuba in that one chapter, I don’t think this is what he meant.
But when he says he can’t help them go back, I can’t figure out if he’s talking about Mitsuba or the fact that he’s stuck in the red house. Probably both, as he says something later which implies he’s talking about Mitsuba.
Mostly the red house though, as shown in these panels. Which hit me really hard for some reason.
Tumblr media
I started sobbing when I saw these panels though,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just look at his face, there’s something about the shading and detail in his face which captivates you. Watching the one character who is so fixated on trying to have everyone live die was so heart wrenching.
The parallel between this panel and chapter 118 is killing me. In that chapter, Mitsuba and Kou talk about their bad dreams, ones of the old world where Mitsuba is dead. They don’t want to accept that any of those dreams could be real, promising to each other to live their lives to the fullest, only accepting the dreams as real if they failed to forget.
In this chapter, Mitsuba and Kou were never able to live a life where they could ignore those dreams, almost immediately getting killed. So to Kou, he now had to accept those dreams, with their new reality becoming the bad dream he tells Nene to forget.
This panel also killed me.
Tumblr media
He’s clearly talking about Mitsuba, who else could he be talking about. Again showing just how much he means to him. Again, it reminds me of the chapter where Kou talks about dying for Mitsuba, showing that he’ll always be there for him, even in death.
I also want to just talk about poor Nene, look at this panel:
Tumblr media
This is the second time that one of her only living friends has had some connection with death, but this is the first time one has straight up disappeared before her eyes. This whole ark has Nene being tormented by death and loss and I hate it.
I wanna touch on Teru quickly. I’ve never loved characters with his type of personality before, but I think this ark has completely changed my mind about him. First, there was that face he made talking about his mother being alive, and then him being forced to exorcise his own brother. Which must have been devastating to Teru, considering that his whole motive is to protect his family, the two he has left. I think this is some of the most emotional we’ve seen in Teru. And I’m crying again
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I spent like 30 minutes at midnight typing this out because once again AidaIro has delivered a heartbreaking chapter, and I need to talk about it.
Oh my god, I was so busy crying yesterday I didn’t realize his and Mitsuba’s corpses were in the well.

I’ve seen a few people comment on the fandom’s overall tendency to understate Trimax!Wolfwood’s fear of Vash’s power/nature and perhaps exaggerate the quasi-religious devotion aspect of their dynamic, and I find it very interesting because from my perspective, all of that is heavily dependent on when in the manga timeline you’re looking at.
Because it doesn’t take Wolfwood that long to start believing in Vash’s good intentions (“A true gunman who only looks on the bright side of life?” - TM #3), but it takes far longer for him to trust that Vash can remain in control of his powers when faced with Knives (“You know what kind of guy he is, but he’s also the trigger to a power that could end the world” - TM #6).
The concern here is twofold: that Vash might ‘go off’ in a moment of extreme emotional distress, as he nearly did at Dragon’s Nest, and that he might be used as a weapon by Knives, like at July and Fifth Moon.
Despite acutely recalling the terror he felt on Ship 5 with the whole crying-blood thing (“That behemoth will splatter us like insects” - TM #2), Wolfwood seems primarily worried about the latter by the time they reach the Ark (“Is it that easy to eliminate half the threat?” - TM #6).
But then three things happen:
Knives tries to absorb Vash and is almost consumed himself instead, demonstrating that Vash’s power is the stronger of the two.
Wolfwood prays to God during the fight with Chapel (“Can murderers only be murderers?… Am I wrong?” - TM #8), and Vash is the one who answers while in full wingèd protector mode (“You are not wrong, Wolfwood!!”).
Vash deliberately activates his Angel Arm and then chooses not to set it off, thus reclaiming his bodily autonomy and freeing himself and Wolfwood from the Ark.
This is a huge turning point in their relationship! Wolfwood “bet his life on” Vash despite “fear[ing] death twice as much as others,” and Vash proved that he was right to do so. Which is why, in Wolfwood’s final confrontation with Chapel and LR, we get The speech of all time:
“Shall I tell you my hope? In this era, especially because of the era we live in, he will be able to do something. His unmatched earnestness… I believe in it. Are you scared? He has never forsaken anything” (TM #10).
Truly nothing in Trimax makes me more feral than those last two lines: the way Wolfwood invokes that fear again, but this time, he himself is exempt from it. Chapel is the one who should fear Vash, precisely because Vash would never forsake Wolfwood as Chapel suggests he did. Not when Wolfwood is one of Vash’s own.
Fear on the one side, faith on the other. Wolfwood has moved from the former to the latter.
TL;DR - In a Wolfwood Lives AU or really any scene set after they escape the Ark, it makes sense for Wolfwood not to show any particular fear of Vash’s inhuman nature and even to display signs of that sense of awe in the face of Vash’s goodness, whereas earlier in the story, it would be odd for Wolfwood to be entirely calm and accepting when Vash goes into Angel Mode™️.
