The time on your phone displayed a brutal 3:00 am, a merciless reminder of sleeplessness as you lay in your dimly lit room. The image was etched in your mind—the image of the man who had once been your entire world, his lips pressed against another woman's.

Ten missed calls, sixteen text messages, all from the very person responsible for this. The phone lay there, silent yet pulsating with the echoes of a love that had been shattered into a million irreparable pieces.

You placed your trust in him, more than anyone else in the world, only for him to carelessly toss it aside for a stranger he met in a bar? The front door slammed shut, reverberating through the house, and heavy footsteps echoed up the stairs. Yet, you remained seated, hunched over, tears streaming down your cheeks, each one hitting your phone. You watched the minutes on your phone's screen tick by, yet it felt like everything was standing still. What did you do to drive him to do this? You’d been nothing but a faithful and loving girlfriend.

Luke swung the door open. It forcefully smashed against the wall. But you couldn't summon the energy to care. Nothing mattered anymore.

“Y/N,” he began, his voice pitiful. “I swear it meant nothing. I love you more than anyone else.”

"Are you fucking serious?" The words, heavy with disbelief, escaped your trembling lips. “It meant nothing? Luke, if you loved me, you would’ve never done that. You would’ve never touched that girl!” You spat his name like poison on your tongue.Your blood ran cold as he frowned. What did he have to be sad about? He ruined your relationship. He ruined you.

“I’m just so-” he began, but your laughter cut through the air, devoid of any humor.

“You’re just what?” you retorted. “You’re just sorry?! Oh my god, that means so much to me, Luke!” You spat, sarcasm dripping from your voice. "We built so much together, and you threw it all away…for her?” The anguish in your voice reverberated through the room, mingling with the breeze that rustled through the curtains.

Outside, the world remained oblivious, stars glistening with beauty. But inside, your world was crumbling, crumbling like the fragile trust that had been shattered.

He stayed silent, his gaze fixed on the wooden floors, avoiding your accusing eyes. He looked like a child that got caught lying after breaking his mother’s vases.

“I shouldn’t even be surprised.” You muttered, your voice slicing through him like sharp knives. “Because everyone told me this was going to happen. Everyone said that you’re just another hockey boy with a lot of talent and a small brain.” The hurtful words rolled off your tongue so simply. You paused, breath hitching in your throat. “But I didn’t believe them. I didn’t believe them when they would say you were going to cheat. No, my Luke would never! He’s too sweet, he’s too kind.”

Soft sobs escaped both of your lips.

In the heavy silence that followed, Luke's shoulders slumped, weighed down not just by your words, but by the guilt he couldn't escape.

As your soft sobs filled the room, Luke finally found his voice, but it was shaky and hesitant. "Y/N, I don't know what came over me. It was a mistake—a terrible mistake. I can't even explain why I did it." He took a step toward you, but you backed away, your trust destroyed.

"You can't explain it?" Your voice wavered between anger and sadness. "That's not good enough, Luke. You owe me an explanation, a real one. Why did you ruin what we had?!”

He raked a hand through his disheveled hair, his eyes pleading for understanding. "I'm not making excuses, but I was confused, Y/N. Things were going wrong, and I made a stupid decision. I was weak."

A heavy silence hung in the air of the room.

Finally, you whispered, your voice filled with exhaustion, "I don't know if I can ever trust you again.”

His face contorted with anguish, and he fell to his knees beside you, tears glistening in his eyes. "I'll do anything to make it right, Y/N. I'll spend the rest of my life trying to make it up to you. Please, give me a chance to prove that I can change."

You stared at him through teary eyes. “I really want to forgive you. I really want to give you another chance,” you swallowed harshly. “But I can’t. Trust is what relationships are built on, and you ruined it. It’s never going to be the same.” Your soft tone tore through him.

What had he done?

Through choked out sobs you whispered, “I’m sorry.” Except you weren’t exactly sure what you were apologizing for.

The room echoed with the sounds of your broken hearts. You walked closer to him, pulling him into your chest. He didn’t have the strength to stand up, so he comfortably sobbed into your sweatshirt.

And that’s when you both realized it was over. It was truly over.

Summary: Billy comes home late, injured and tries to patch himself up without waking you.

Billy struggled to unlock and open the door with his right hand. The blood started to pool, darkening the material of his black jacket, it dripped down his arm, and peeked out from under the sleeve. The bullet was still inside and he was in a lot of pain. He winced as he turned the door knob and stepped inside.

It was late and more than likely, you were fast asleep in his bed.

Biting back the discomfort, he tried to move quietly into the main bathroom of the penthouse where he kept his first aid supplies for times like this.

The gunshot wound continued to throb under his jacket. He needed to get the bullet out but he was going to have to use his non-dominant hand to do it and he would also have to do it without waking you.

Billy didn’t want you to see him like this, covered in blood and dirt. The dried blood on his hands was not his, the spatter across his face wasn’t his either. Their mission tonight was reminiscent of missions during the war, very clandestine, under the cover of night, and in disguise. If anyone got close to him, their death was quick but not painless.

He made sure of that.

The deep stab wounds to the man’s back had punctured his lungs and Billy had given him a new “smile” across his throat. The smell of blood was thick all around him as he watched his enemy gasp for air and then collapse at his feet, soaking the earth underneath him.

He appreciated that you didn’t ask too many questions when it came to jobs like this one. You just told him to be careful so he could come home to you.

Those words play over and over in his head. “Just be safe, Billy. I need you to come home to me.”

When he removed his jacket, Billy saw the bullet wound in the light for the first time. He would be fine after taking the bullet out but it would be challenging.

Clenching his teeth, then biting his knuckles, he tried to keep from crying out in pain when he let the alcohol run over the wound but it was just loud enough for you to hear him.

Your eyes fluttered open and you sat bolt upright in bed. The space next to you was cold and empty where Billy should be but he wasn’t. The noise you heard was coming from the bathroom.

“Billy?” You called out softly, slipping on his hoodie.

No answer.

The cool air touched your bare legs as your feet touched the floor and you started to tip toe out of the bedroom.

“FUCK!” He yelled and whispered at the same time.

Turning the corner, you saw the faint glow of the bathroom light through the crack in the door.

“Billy? Are you ok?” You asked from behind the door.

Gently pushing it open, you heard him call out, “Don’t come in here, baby.”

Of course, you didn’t listen and pushed the door open anyway.

“Billy—“ You saw the blood dripping down his arm, coming from the hole that was there and it startled you.

“Oh my god!” You exclaimed. “Is the bullet still in there?! Why are you not at the hospital?”

“I’m fine, sweet girl. I am. Go back to bed.” He said, calmly.

“Uh, yeah—fat chance, handsome. Let me help you.” You told him sternly as you picked up the rubbing alcohol.

He grabbed the alcohol bottle out of your hand. With raised eyebrows, he glared at you with his dark mysterious eyes that looked like two cups of espresso.

“I said I’m fine, y/n.” He said sharply through gnashed teeth.

Billy still needed reminding that he wasn’t alone anymore and he didn’t have to do everything himself. He had someone to help him with whatever he needed.

“Go back to sleep. I’ll come to bed when—“ He started to say before you cut him off.

He winked at you as you playfully rolled your eyes.

“Just hold still and let me get that bullet out, lieutenant.” You said, reaching for the alcohol and the surgical pliers.

Billy kissed you again.

“Well, be gentle. I’m not puttin’ out if you hurt me.” He said, chuckling a little.

Silently, you said “you can trust me,” before replying,

“I will never hurt you, my love.”

Fukuzawa hadn't lied at all; you were a perfect addition to the agency. Even after just meeting you, Kunikida could tell: smart, accomplished, adept at combat, extensive knowledge in both weapons and hand to hand combat, plus a near deadly control over your ability- you were a dream. You were hardworking and on top of it all, shockingly, amazingly, seemingly immune to Osamu Dazai.

Now, you didn't dislike the man. You just weren't one to fawn over him or giggle like a schoolgirl any time he winked at you. You never really understood the girls who would fall all over themselves when he flirted with them, plus, since he flirted with anyone what was the point in giving in? To him, there were a million people like you; you were just another pretty face to him. So you made it your mission to never fall for his charms.

Unfortunately for Kunikida, neither of you quite understood how stubborn you both could be.

After three months, you found you liked him more than you thought. He made you laugh, with his stupid jokes and his antics. You found you liked being his friend. You would go out drinking with him, he would embarrass you in public until you shrieked with laughter, face burning red with your blush. He would make up nonsense songs to make you laugh and you would foil his attempts at flirting with yet another waitress each time you ate together. Quickly, you found yourself calling him your best friend- something that horrified Kunikida in quite a funny manner.

And after six months, Dazai realized something terrible- something awful, sweet, lovely and terrifying all at once. Osamu Dazai realized he was falling for you. He was falling faster than he could save himself, faster than he could stop it; he was falling for his best friend with the stunning smile, the sharp wit that would bite him playfully if he got to close, the pretty laugh and those eyes that melted him from the inside out.

Worst of all, he knew you would never believe him if he told you.

But Kunikida saw it all. He saw how Dazai's eyes would soften ever so slightly when you would walk in, how he would try to be close to you, how he would volunteer to do the most mundane tasks as long as it meant doing them with you. He saw the new way his lip would curl gently at the edges when he smiles at you, a smile different than his usual rakish grin. And god was it painful to watch. He nearly felt bad for the man, and he would if it wasn't so funny to watch. Kunikida wouldn't deny it was just the slightest bit entertaining to observe you.

Nearly a year had gone by since you had first met; nearly a year since you had promised yourself to never fall for him. Nearly a year since he had met you, clueless to the fact that you would change his life without even trying. And everyone could tell it was driving him mad; everyone, or so it seemed, except for you. A fact that Kunikida doubted to the extremes.

"They probably have figured it out by now," he muttered, sipping his drink as a moan sounded from Dazai. "They're quite intelligent, you know. Perceptive, too."

"Shut up," Dazai muttered, lifting his head from off the bar. "Don't tell me that like I don't already know it."

Kunikida shrugged. "Just checking. But in any case, what are you going to do about it?"

"That's just it," Dazai groaned. "Whatever I do, they won't believe it's real; they'll think I just want a fling or a one night stand and it would kill me to loose them over something so stupid."

"Well you'd best figure it out soon," Kunikida observed. "Time waits for no man."

And it hurt knowing he was right. It hurt Dazai, a dull throb forming in his chest because it was true; no one waited forever. No opportunity stayed open for long. So he shook Kunikida's hand, walked out of the bar, and turned for the direction of your apartment.

"Good luck, you lovestruck bastard."

You were alone when the knock at the door came; alone, your pajama pants sitting deliciously on your skin, a glass on wine barely held between your fingers. You felt the buzz of the stuff, warm and sweet, spreading through your body as you walked over the door, and opened it.

Revealing your best friend, panting with cheeks brushed pink from the night air. He ran a hand through his messy dark hair and you cocked your head slightly, your lips quirking up into a curious smile.

And those were the last words you uttered before his hand lifted your face to his and his lips shaped themselves perfectly against yours. That was all you had to say before he stole the breath from your lungs with that kiss, a sigh leaving you so sweetly it made him fall for you again, more and more- he would devote himself to memorizing every sound that fell from your lips, give you every second if his life if that's what it took, as long as you promised to never take your touch away from him.

You smiled when you pulled away, lips still parted, laughing ever so slightly as you pulled him inside by the hand.

And when you walked into the office together the next morning, chatting and smiling like always, most people wouldn't have batted an eye.

But Doppo Kunikida wasn't most people. And even he had to indulge himself in smirking in the way Dazai followed at your heels like a puppy. Because even though you were not the first to fall for his charms...

you were the first to get him to fall for yours.

This is the first time I've read your fiction (bc AUs weren't for me) and i must share with you my thoughts bc there are many and I will try to contain my fangirling lol I devour anything opera related so I gave it a go and oh man do I enjoyed myself ♥️ Banter, meaningful and witty dialogues between H & L, discussion of real problems engrossed me in this story to the point I forgot to function like a human lol Characterisation of both of them omg harry is femme fatale absolute beauty grace but also intelligence I loved how you actually used his experience and savviness in this story. But my god am I in love with how you painted Louis? What a man, balance between flirtatiousness and raw sensitivity hooked me and made me fall for him  HELP lol You totally painted the power couple in any circumstances and I ate it up. Intimacy parts were sensual and tasteful,balance between mental & physical.  bowtie part🫠 picnic scene HOLY. Anyway lol Mathilda reference I don't know if you intended but that's how I interpreted it, when Louis is  thinking about what family means and if you can create one with people who treat you with kindness and bring you joy was so emotional and well written🥹 -louis's letter to lady Mlle Laurent made me weep like a baby Gina I swear I'm so in love with your characterisation of Louis he is I quote harry and you on it (lol) divine, so devoted 😭 -"Because Harry is happy” has become the reason for everything I do" - MY FAVORITE PART this reminded me of "for every question why you were my because" and cried so much it seems like all I did was crying throughout the whole story lol you reduced me into a mess Gina and I have rarely been so impressed by a fiction.  I know it's supposed to be one but truly this story was so realistic if I can use that word with it's description of life without privilege of money what happens if you challenge powerful people that you don't magically pull yourself out of the situation. I absolutely loved how you didn't run away from showing us that side and how they navigated it. - and lastly I enjoyed the pace and how you changed the form of bringing the story to us through their POVs and letters , kept me on my toes and idk it was a refreshing change from the usual. I've always respected your opinion in general but now I'm a fan of your writing talent as well. I just know I will remember this story thank you💙

i can only see this man in a romance of the slowest burn. not only is he rather intimidating, aloof, & busy but i also think he hasn’t considered a relationship before, he’s never felt for any body in that way & never had time or the desire to, until his feelings start to develop for you but even then, the action he takes towards those feelings are.. almost non existent for a while

but it’s not his fault - he doesn’t know how to express what you bring out in him. he’s only known war & shinra. he hasn’t known a world where love dared to show itself so when he starts to realize what he feels is more than just the attachment of friendship he’s cultivated with few others, he takes his time carefully mulling over it & considering all the possibilities before he realizes he is in fact in love with you

oh but for those that know him well, like angeal & genesis, ooooo they can totally see their boy has a crush probably even before he knows🤭

it may start out as something small like always finding his way to your side when you’re around, trying to have more conversations with you, showing you his dry humor & smiling back at you when you gift him a giggle in return, reaching his hand out to the small of your back when you walk side by side even if his touch never connects even though he does desperately want to touch you (he’s touched starved as fuck i just know it)

he’s an absolute gentleman despite the fact he doesn’t actually know how to properly court you lmao but he will always make sure you’re heard & safe & that if you need anything, you know you can ask him

but one day he will give in, when he least expects it but can’t be held back any longer, he’ll grabs your hand or pull you into him & can hardly let go & then kiss you for the first time only to realize just how intense his love for you is & that he doesn’t want to be without you by his side

This is my first time ever reading it and I know next to nothing abt greek mythology so if I interpret anything wrong by all means pls correct me

Im reading the Robert Fagles translation

Alotta shit happened my brain kinda died

Athena leads Diomedes into the middle of battle

Some guy throws a spear at Dio which just misses him. This angers him so Dio throws his spear back and kills him

Then she goes to Ares and suggests they sit this one out and watch the battle

Dio is fucking shit up. So much so, that's its hard to even tell which side he's supposed to be on

I think 2 ppl die in such a way it manages to cut off their tounges

A man named Pandaurs ends up shooting Diomedes in the shoulder and he begins to pray to Athena.

Athena hears him (what happened to sitting this out?) and gives him the strength of his father in the ability to see gods on the battle field.

And Athena goes "Don't fight any of the gods but If you see Aphrodite, spear her♥️."

People die Okay?

Pandaurs and Aeneas go down to jump Dio. His friend Sthenelus warns him to not fight them but Diomedes goes "Actually never tell me to not fight ever again.🤨"

The pair that went down to jumps Dio throw a spear at him which catched his armor but no Diomedes himself.

"You missed, fucking loser." - Diomedes

Athena guides Diomedes' spear and it like enter's Pandaurs' skull just below the eye and kills him. Brutal.

The Dio pick up a damn boulder and shatters Aeneas's hip. But Aphrodite is Aeneas's mother and she goes to takes him aways from the battle.

And. Diomedes. Fucking. Stabs. Her...LMAO.

So she goes crying to Ares bc holy shit a mortal just attacked a god and drew blood.

Then Aphrodite goes to Olympus and cries to her mother and she just tells her to get over it.

And all the Gods tell her to just stick to the whole love thing😭😭

THEN Dio tries to attack Apollo.

Aeneas gets healed.

Apollo goes to Ares who is still sitting down where Athena left him and tell him "Ur the god of war so go kill Diomedes or something idk."

So now Ares and rallying the forces on the Trojan side

Diomedes sees Ares and damn near shits bricks

Sarpedon and Heracles's son Tlepolemus start fighting. Sarpedon ends up killing him but not before Tlepolemus can injure him with a spear to the thigh.

Ody wonders if he should finish Sarpedon off but Athena knows it's not his fate to kill Sarpedon😀...so Odysseus goes off to kill other ppl

While his wound is being treated Sarpedon is freaking out bc he thinks he's dying so he beg Hector to stay with him.

Hector ignores him💀

Ares and Hector have a disney channel style cross over and are just killing so many people

And the greeks are like "Holy shit."

Athena and Hera ask Zeus if they can go and stop Ares and he says yes

"if Achilles was still fighting this would have never happened." -Hera

Athena talks with Dio and is like "Why do you keep stoping the the middle of battle? Not cool." Dio tells her "You literally told me not to fight any gods so i cant fight Ares." and Athena goes, "oh."

THEEEEENNNN Diomedes stabs Ares with his spear. Ares screams super loud.

Ares goes to Olympus and bitches to Zeus abt Athena.

Zeus tell him to get over it and stays if he wasn't his child he's be cast down with the titans. damn.
