Resident duolingo user in 2024 here. They are now not letting you practice if you still have hearts left which imo is VERY BAD like do you want people to stay and watch more ads? Let them practice more.
Also it means they cant stay on your app longer and watch Even More ads because of doing actual lessons
I do not know how to get them to change it back but it is Bad 👎👎👎

I suspect my time with czech is coming to an end soon...
I have six and a half units to go, and with the dramatic decrease in unit content, it will probably only take me a few months to finish them! By the end of the year at most, but more than likely before then.
...sooo I need to pick a new dabble language from the list. And maybe resolve to finish it a bit faster than 1&¾ of a year, LOL. I have other things i wanna learn...!!
Anyways, there's 11 languages on the list and i don't think a single one of them is slavic, so it's gonna be a bit of a struggle no matter what i do, haha. Add in at least 4 new writing systems*...
*one of these is japanese and i still don't really want to learn it. Hmmmm.
#technically langblr#langblr#small text#theyre ordered by exp earned and not by date added (which i messed up the order a little by now anyways so.. idk)#but all 11 are:#sp - fr - de - it - norwegian - jpn - arabic - greek - hebrew - finnish - yiddish#idk the lang codes for some clearly#but! it is a mystery which one i want to do next... not japanese still#maybe i'll roll a die or something. random number generate it#we shall see..#oh also i have to assign colors to all of them?! maybe i'll pick a 'dabble lang' color going forwards so i don't run out haha

Duolingo's doing some WEIRD shit right now. Put me Very Slightly ahead in the course again???
When i last checked in with this on tumblr i was at unit 6 of 28.*
I'm now... wait for it... on 12 of 32?!
I don't think that's "new and improved", duolingo. How about old and improved instead... i would like that, at least.
*(czech course, section 3)
#langblr#technically langblr#duolingo#yes yes duo's shit now well it's FREE and also i read things on lingq as well. if i see a textbook i will die#other things of note: all the little skill bubbles (??) seem dramatically decreased.#fairly certain there were two practice sections per unit before and now there's only one... strange#also keeping in mind that it counts completed units and not ones you're in the middle of. so technically i'm on 13 right now

You can now begin working on your projects. Good luck! 🥳
If you're participating in the 72 hour challenge, make sure you've got the countdown timer for the end of the challenge handy, to avoid timezone troubles!
There is no grace period if you miss the end of the 72 hour window, which ghosts completed the challenge will be determined by the timestamps on the submissions. 3 days will fly by quickly, so don't miss it!
(If you missed the announcement and are just now hearing about this, read up on the rules and information for the event here! It's not too late to hop in!)

Personally, I'm always doing everything myself, but you don't even have to know how to draw! Freeshells are a wonderful thing OwO
Ghost Jam 2024 is starting soon!
It's that time of year again, it's time for Ghost Jam 2024! If you're not familiar, Ghost Jam is an event we host annually where participants build a brand new ghost in just a week!
We're changing some things up this year, and our rules are now available outside of our Discord server. That means anyone can join, whether they're a part of our Discord or not!
You can find the rules and information for the event here: https://ukagakadreamteam.com/events/ghost_jam_2024.html
We have a Japanese translation for the rules again this year, thanks to the hard work of @ nikolat (Don). If you are interested in our event, we would be happy to have you join us!
The jam will be starting on May 24th at midnight (EDT). That gives you about two weeks to find teammates if you want them, and plan out what you'll be making.
#technically langblr#укагака#my pitch may be less coherent this time around#but in my defense i pretty much just woke up
