UPDATE

I started binge-watching and saw x-men 1, 2 & 3 and just a few minutes ago days of future past and let's just say I'm not okay.

I literally had to pause the movie at the plane scene, thought about it and started sobbing. I feel like I need a year to process this, so I'm just gonna give you what my brain is capable of rn and the rest comes when I'm ready😭

I constantly had to think about how this must be for Charles. Imagine you meet this amazing guy that you have a great relationship with, not just great, the best. You love him so much and you seem to want the same thing, but then he basically betrays you and takes your sister with you and you feel all alone. You lost the ability to walk and feel like you're slowly going crazy. So you spend almost ten years in your empty house, depressed and drunk. Someday this random man comes and suddenly, you're supposed to face the one person you never wanted to see again. Well, in one way, you do, because you actually just want everything back to how it was, but you know that won't work. But you do it, bc you have to.

IMAGINE THE NERVOUS FEELING YOU HAVE TO HAVE WHEN YOU BREAK INTO THAT PRISON AND YOU KNOW YOU'RE GONNA SEE HIM AND YOU KNOW HE'LL SEE YOU'RE THE ONE THAT GOT HIM OUT.

And then it happens and all those feelings overwhelm you and you have to bear being in the same plane as him. You get mad at him and you can see that he also still has all those emotions inside of him. And then he apologizes. And even tho you don't have your powers, you can tell he's being honest. genuine. It's what you wanted, probably. But what are you supposed to do? You can't forgive him, even if every fiber of your body wants you to. So you change the subject..

And Erik, who had been in prison for years, probably went through what had happened a thousand times in his mind, because he had nothing else to do. One day, this guy comes and breaks him out and he doesn't understand why, but whatever, he's free. And then the elevator doors open and he sees the person he'd thought he'd never see again and he's clearly not okay and it's because of HIM.

God, this is so painful. It's just two men who fell in love when they were younger and tried for years and years, even in a different universe, but they always ended up apart from each other. Even though all that they both ever wanted was to be on the same side.

(This turned out so much longer than I thought. Sometimes I just start writing and don't stop. That's also why it's always so messy. Anywayss, gonna see Deadpool 3 tomorrow, so let's gooo I hope that's gonna be happier.)

I swear to god i thought i made this post like 3 days ago wtf.

first note, even though i have not posted anything re: the first two episodes, I will say that i currently like the show. I am fully treating this show as three shows packed up in one show. (I'm thinking skam where the seasons were following the same people but different main characters each season except this show does not have seasons)

I originally was not sure if i wanted to watch this show, aside from force and book I dont really know much about the other two ships and even still i havent really watched many force book shows fully so i was fully convinced i wouldnt like the show

Theres still a chance i wont like the show but right now the first two episodes have been funny. yeah I know, im a sucker for silly goofy sound effects and cuts and this show is doing it. its also (i think) the same director as we are and I LOVED we are so we'll see!

I think it is interesting that Arc likes Arm and is actually going for it, unlike most shows where theyll beat around the bush around this, I cant wait for Arc to "find out" that Arm was the one who posted that photo of him because i am fully convinced he already knows and is so ready to mess with Arm when he "finds out" (though i hope hes not too mean about this)

ANYWAY, ONTO THE THIRD EPISODE!

that being said, I am sick and gosh darn tired of this fucking trope (?) where you can be mean to someone as a way of "flirting" with the other person. I mean even po and sand were all like "if I didnt know any better i'd think hes flirting with you" like maybe its just difference in cultures but if a friend came up to me and talked about someone in the way that Arm was talking about Arc in the first two episodes i would stongly encourage that friend to stay the fuck away from that person, like why are we making it okay again to bully people as a way of flirting with them (i guess you could argue that in this case its less bullying and more like teasing (which whatever) but my point still stands, i wish that shows would do this trope less or at the very least have some genuine consequences to this bad behaviour. and NO getting Arm hurt in the car accident is not a consequence to Arc for his bad behaviour, like sure he felt guilty about it but obviously Arm had no grudges held against him for that (i'm talking i want genuine serious like… idk how to put it. and this show may not be the best example ( again, maybe this is more teasing than it is bullying) but if someone treated me as bad as some main characters treat their love interest they would not be getting a chance from me (to which you might argue, "well if you like that person before then even if theyre mean to you they would get a chance" but thats often not the case in these shows, like main character 1 is mean for no fucking reason and main character 2 is like i hate you…. wait a minute I LOVE YOU!!! and there is no real consequence to main character 1s actions, they have no real reason to change)) but anyway thats neither here nor their as i am currently liking this show but given the time that the show is taking place (2 main couples are already established) i am wondering i… idk i forgot what i was gonna say

-I do like Firefly as a character don’t get me wrong but I’m not a huge fan of them pushing this faux ship between her and the trailblazer. Like it feels forced. I feel like we got attached to her way too quickly in 2.0 and now we’re acting like we’re basically dating. There was even the bridal carry! I think I would like it better if it had more gradual development. I think it has potential, it just needs to happen more organically.

-WHY DID YOU SKIP THE SCENE WITH AVENTURINE AND BOOTHILL STANDOFF AT THE END OF 2.2??? Like how did they reach an agreement? Since when did the marketing dept have beef with the SID? Did everyone know this and that’s why Boothill approaches Aventurine in the first place? WHY DIDN’T YOU SHOW US THEIR CONVO HOYO??? You did both my boys so dirty this patch. They’d better give them an epic buddy cop showdown against Oswaldo in a companion mission or the interlude. Also: show us Boothill’s backstory in game so I can properly sob like a baby and we give him a proper character arc. Also also: make Nihility = depression so we can finally have the Aventurine depression arc we deserve and maybe get that boy some happiness and will to live at some point.

-Speaking of the IPC: wtf is up with Jade??? Topaz looked gay AF when she first showed up, and Jade kept infantilizing her, calling her “little Jelena” and such. And when she went to more harsher “negotiations” with the family she ended up being more manipulative and cutthroat like we saw when she first met Aventurine. She’s clearly manipulative and I think she groomed Topaz and acts like a different person around her. That would also explain Topaz’s brainwashing that the IPC is great and all. Don't have the time and brain capacity to jump into Memories of Ice rn (though I have read the prologue) so I'm rereading Gardens of The Moon for comfort (pain)

Barely past the battle of Pale and already my brain is itching for connections and answers

- What the hell happened to Dassem Ultor, what god did he betray and where is he (he's definitely not dead)

- the emperor met a watery demise 🤔 nothing about Ammanas /Shadowthrone /Kellanved feels connected to water but I'm remembering the stranded ship with the decapitated crew in the warren with an ocean that was not an ocean at all

-^ now that I'm thinking about this the T'lan Imass we meet there do something similar to the Jaghut children in the moi prologue, sacrificing someone to seal a rift

- the cough in Lorn's room after Paran left and how she knew what happened in the throne room. Laseen's guards also react to unspoken commands, she remembers Paran from years ago and given what we see when Kalam meets her in DHG, there is definitely magery at play

- can't wait to get more of Tavore, I was only slightly disappointed we didn't see her in DHG but it was completely understandable given how much that book already covered

- ^ also given (I might be misremembering) how it was Tavore who arranged a member of the Talon to look after Felisin, Gamet the houseguard and the mystery of his background is standing out more to me now

- I missed quick Ben and Kalam duo so bad

- Lorn, I love you

- Calot was actually so sweet for the 0.5 seconds we knew him 😭

- Hairlock is 7 cities???? He is also stinky and should have ripped Tayschrenn's throat out

- From Sail's description of Dujek looking younger and stronger and even a little taller than he should and given his fame, I think he had already begun his ascension

- I already figured out the sister of cold night's identity from her talk with kallor but in hindsight it's actually so sad that part of her bond with Bellurdan was due to the advice she'd taken from her brother

- I don't know why my brain didn't register on first read that the bridgeburners had essentially been stuck digging under Pale for YEARS before the battle of Pale. I feel so sorry for Whiskeyjack and his men

- the poem about Caladan Brood implying Anomander Rake has "recently" awaken

- had to check but during her speculation on the warren, the bonecaster guesses omtose phellack, tellann, and starvald demelain but not the two tiste elder warrens.

-^ the tiste andii are elder creatures, something like Mother Dark's first children but the bonecaster doesn't consider them. I wonder if they didn't cross paths as a species then

- wtf really happened in the last 7 cities campaign, like I remember it's implied that whatever went down at Aren was a mess

- and what the fuck halved the T'lan Imass forces

Some of these might get answered in Gardens itself but it's crazy how much more there is to pick up on during a reread and I'm only 2 books into the series. Malazan gonna have me set for life 😭

Gosh Japanese are even more crazy for Shuyui than Subayui. TBH I'm really happy that Shuyui and Subayui are Japanese favorite ships. Even though my favorite is Rukiyui but Shuyui and Subayui are 2nd and 3rd place for me so I love these fanfics. At least Japanese fanfics are much better than those childish fanfics on whattpad when people hate Yui for no reason by using her lost sister 🤣🤣🤣. I mean these kids really need to grow up. Or for the sake of god be a little creative. All stories are about Yui's lost sister who is better than Yui and all diaboys love her. WTF??????

Japanese are great. Both in drawing arts and writing fanfics. I love how they love and adore Yui. And no need to mention that I love their favorite ships. Shuyui and Subayui 🤗💞💘

My next novel should be for them.

I don't blame them for writing more fanfics or drawing more arts about them or loving these ships more. Gosh they are so adorable I can't 😭😭🥺🥺🥺.

Do you prefer Yoichi or AFO?

As characters, people or story purpose? Well if I'm honest, and likely many might not agree, like truly honest for Character and Story purpose in the canon that would be AFO. Obviously in real life I would get along with Yoichi a lot better and like him so much more. But in the story he is more of a plot device then a character. STILL WAITING ON YOICHI POV OF HIS CHILDHOOD BUT STARTING TO THINK WE AREN'T GETTING IT.

We get more out of Kudou and Bruce, while Yoichi is just oh look he so tragic. But man isn't even allowed to speak his own story or express himself fully. 😭

Note I love Yoichi I do, but his personality is basically, heroic, first user and AFO little brother. He gives basically NOTHING for me story wise to work with at the moment. And when you aren't someone that into his ships that personality that makes him even harder to write with. You would think we get something in the back story right? But his role is still very much the same, heroic baby brother and AFO little brother. It never delved into.

It does allow more freedom to decide whatever, but I don't LIKE deciding whatever. If it isn't obvious when I write I only write using what canon has actually shown as evidence in their personality. And this is the thing I struggle with when writing Yoichi. We've been given crumbs on Yoichi EVEN THOUGH his life was just as shitty he seems... Fine???

I seriously doubt that but canon isn't showing me anything and he's so detached from AFO it kind of makes me go wtf you're so heartless. Like yeah he an ass but aren't you a little sad about him dying or just some pity- Closest thing was him talking to AFO and Kudou in that flashback but even that was from AFO AND KUDOU POV. Like are you serious? Give this man something!!!

And it means I struggle to write with him as don't have any introspection of him to work with along with his lack of talking point not involving his brother.

Doesn't mean I can't, as I try my best to make the closest assessment to his character as I can. But it why I end up more drawn to AFO when it comes to the stories I write.

I prefer AFO and he is my favorite character. Would I like the adult self in real life? Hell no, I would despise adult him but that natural as he still a bad person, but as a character and for a story he is amazing. He is someone that is shown many different layers among all the lies, falsehood, and denial. The backstory shown gave me so much to chew on because his childhood was a god damn mess. I can write tragic stuff because I know how he would handle it, basically not well at all with dissociating and denial.

It showed him surviving in a cruel world where those were power were scorned and hated. How he and his brother were neglected as well as ignored like Tomura were. The dead look in his eyes, how he struck out against those talking about attacking metahumans. How he tried to bond with Yoichi and related to the villain surrounded by people.

How he wanted everyone to be like Yoichi, aka someone he provided for and always looked at him. To be acknowledged always by everyone and relied on.

As people I adore Yoichi more. But for writing and story purposes, AFO is my god damn favorite poor little meow meow. As I love the tragedy and torture that comes into creating such a monster. To show my sympathies and pity for the man who couldn't be anything but this.

Now saying all that. Give me some Yoichi backstory from his POV god dammit. I'm struggling writing him and I'm doing my best with the scraps given.
