Recognizing Silent Guardians and Steadfast Vanguards During the joint anniversary celebration of the National Security Council (NSC) and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. praised their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the country's interests and the security of the Filipino people. He acknowledged their crucial role in ensuring national security for over seven decades, despite often working in the shadows due to the sensitive nature of their jobs.

President Marcos Jr. lauded the NSC and NICA for their brilliant handiwork, courageous grit, and selfless sacrifice in protecting the nation against various threats. He emphasized that these agencies serve as the silent guardians who shield the country from potential harm, the steadfast vanguards who keep enemies at bay, and the faithful watchers who prevent disorder and chaos.  

A Milestone in National Security

The NSC and the NICA are celebrating their 73rd and 74th Founding Anniversary, respectively, marking significant milestones in their history of safeguarding the Philippines.

In his address, President Marcos Jr. pointed out pressing national concerns, including threats to territorial integrity and sovereignty, terrorism, local communist insurgency, cybersecurity threats, and the dangers posed by climate change. He stressed the importance of the NSC and NICA in dealing with these challenges.

The Role of NSC and NICA

The NSC functions as the principal advisory body, taking responsibility for the proper coordination and integration of plans and policies that impact national security. It is comprised of two distinct bodies: the Council Proper and the NSC Secretariat, both established by virtue of Executive Order No. 330 on July 1, 1950.  

The Central Coordinating Agency for National Intelligence

In addition to this, Kikwete continued to play for ten years as a patron of the Tanzania Basketball Federation. He later married Salma and currently, they have five
