To those of you that don’t know Sewer, Sewer Raph doesn’t have his name yet and just goes by the Big Guy because well he’s a big guy.

“Micheal, if you would do the honours,” Donnie grinned, as they held their arms wide, speakers forming from their battleshell, “It’s the final countdown.”

April squinted at her sibling as The Final Countdown began to play through the speakers, “Did you jus-“

“FIVE!”

Donnie would not meet her eyes and instead continued to watch the fight in front of them. After a relentless war, this round was coming to an end.

“FOUR!”

The Big Guy flung Giovanni into a wall, jaw finally unclamping from the poor turtle’s limb, leaving him T-Posing in a dent in the wall. Everyone held their breath as they watched, waiting for one to hit the floor.

“THREE!”

Van smirked, still T-Posing as he edged toward the edge of the hole, preparing to leap at the alligator snapping turtle. The Big Guy growled as he panted, disguising his wheezing breath.

“TWO!”

The large snapper took a step forward and wobbled where he stood, untrimmed claws digging into the scales of clenched steps as the growls grew in volume. His opponent, ever so smaller, kept smirking, even as he fought the urge to limp on his bitten leg, continuing with his effective strategy of T-Posing his way to victory.

“ONE!”

The two opponents each took another step forward and watched as their knees buckled, sending them sprawling against the floor.

“TIME’S UP!”

A lone basketball bounced onto the battlefield as the spectators watched on. The Big Guy didn’t even notice, snoring away as the ball hit his spike and popped loudly. On top of the larger turtle’s shell, Giovanni’s eyes fluttered open to the plastic remains covering his eyes, only to flutter shut again.

Everyone watched in silence as the turtles began to snore, uncaring of the chaos echoing through the arena as every other contestant played a round of basketball. The Big Guy hadn’t even realised that was what they were supposed to be doing and the moment Donnie had pointed out their opponent, he had attacked and, to the ‘Sewer Squad’s’ (as April had apparently entered their group’s name as) surprise, their opposition regained their footing quickly and held their own against their larger brother.

Next to Donnie, cards fluttered to the ground as a worried chirp came from their brother, Leo. They didn’t reach out to stop him from approaching the turtle pile, just watching as he nudged his older brother and burrowed his way under the snapper’s arm. He rubbed their necks together, his markings visibly glowing brighter, despite the lights on all the competitors. Donnie turned away from the sight, satisfied that the situation was stable.

“Well then,” Donnie held out their hand to their counterparts, the other turtle in blue taking it and shaking it on his brother’s behalf, “we will take this loss graciously and warn you that you should get your brother off ours before he wakes up or he might actually lose that leg.”

“WAIT WHAT?!” the Leo with actual weapons on his shell (who thought that was a good idea? Leo was deadly enough without sharp blades!) yelled, as he spun around to stare at his apparent twin, relaxing slightly as he saw the two turtles still snoozing away.

“Don’t worry!” Mikey grinned, dangling off the turtle’s neck, “He’ll be out for a while. He’s perfectly safe for now!”

“For now?!” the turtle in red, Raph, yelled, procuring his sais from his belt, “This was supposed to be a fun-“

“And it will be,” Donnie assured them, “as long as we move him before our brother wakes up.”

The other Leo turned to his red-clad brother, “You grab the legs and I’ll grab his arms?”

“As long as we throw him in at least one trash can,” Raph crossed his arms.

The other Leo just smirked.

Giovanni has never felt so free.

He clung to Tigerclaw’s fury frame as sobs shook his body. He cried and cried. He cried until he felt nauseated because he watched his terrible future die in front of him. He killed the physical manifestation of who he could’ve become with his own hands. There was nothing left to chain him, he was free to flourish and live.

He was happy.

And nothing could take that away.

“You did great young cub.” Tigerclaw gently hugged Van. “I’m proud of you.” With the joyful cries of his family behind him every felt perfect, and Van felt at peace.

A peace that was quickly destroyed by a single noise.

A single scream that ripped through the air, tore apart his heart and shattered his peace. A scream he never thought he’d hear.

The scream of his twin.

The scream of Leonardo.

Van ripped himself from Tigerclaw's hold dashing to the noise that seemed to tear his world apart. His shouts fell upon deaf ears as Van launched himself to the blaze searching for his twin brother.

“LEONARDO!” He ducked and weaved through the collapsing rubble, becoming increasingly desperate with every unanswered cry. “LEO!” He heard the distant shouts from the rest of his family join the symphony of collapsing concrete as they all searched for the leader. Dread pooled in his gut as the seconds ticked away and ideas of the worst flooded his mind.

“LEO PLEASE!” Giovanni felt his throat squeeze when he was met with nothing. He had to fight back terrified tears as he scoured the rubble.

Then he heard it. A terrified and pained chirp just a few feet away.

Suddenly Van was in a mad dash to his twin, following the pained whimpers and cries. It turned his blood to ice to hear all this from Leo. His brother came into view pinned under the rubble.

“LEE!” He watched Leonardo strain to turn his head, tears stained his face as his eyes went wide.

“Van!” Leo reached out for his twin, straining to grab onto Giovanni’s arm.

“It’s ok Lee, I’m here. I’ve got you.” He took his brother's hand not missing the blood that coated it. His tone went serious as he began scanning his brother for the injury as he gripped a chunk of the wreckage. “Leo. I’m gunna get this rubble off of you ok?”

“No” Leonardo squeezed Van’s arm tight, a slight desperation bled into his voice. “Vanni don’t please.”

Giovanni hesitated pulling back the chunk of concrete he held in his hands.

“Lee, if you're injured I have to move the rubble to try and help you. I need to know what exactly I’m dealing with.” Leonardo just shook his head, panic in his eyes. Ignoring his protests Giovanni removed the debris revealing what Leonardo was so desperate to hide.

A thick rebar pierced through his abdomen. Fragments of his shell littered the floor around the injury in the growing viscous pool below him. It made Giovanni gag. He fought back his own nausea, tearing away his gaze to look back up to Leonardo.

“I’m sorry Vanni.” Leo’s voice was hoarse and his breathing was getting shallow. He pulled on Giovanni’s arm to bring him down close enough for Leonardo to wrap his arm around him. Giovanni pulled his twin into a hug shaking his head sniffling into his twin’s shoulder.

“Nonono don’t apologize.” Van whispered. “None of this is your fault. None of this.”

The twins cried into each other, one clinging to the other as Leo’s grip got weaker. As his breathing got shallower. As his head began to loll to the side.

“I love you brother.” Leo whispered. “and I’m proud of who you’ve become.” Van never thought he could ever hate a collection of words so much.

“I love you too Leo.” Giovanni said as he laid down his dying brother. He watched Leonardo softly smile as he took his last breath. As the light in his eyes faded.

He watched his twin leave him.

And for the second time that night Giovanni cried.

In celebration of Giovanni getting past the preliminary round you remember that little concept crossover I posted last month if Giovanni was in Lost But Never Found?

Well I am once again borrowing @enthblaze boy

This takes place the day after the initial reunion.

It was late at night, the city lights glowing neon. The stars barely visible under the smog and clouds high above.

A familiar sight. One that Indigo had grown to know over the last five months.

He was perched on a rooftop, overlooking the busy city below, far above the crowds and crowds of people.

And far...far away from the lair.

He had slipped out late at night, putting as much distance between himself and everyone there.

His...his head hurt.

Its been...a week for sure. Regaining memories he didn't know he lost. Of a family he didn't think he had.

Finally, finally everything made sense, why he constantly felt so out of place for months on end.

Because he truly didn't belong with them.

He had a family. Raphael with his short temper and heart of gold, Donatello who is as brilliant as he is kind, Michelangelo who lights up the room he enters and who can pummel anyone into the dirt.

And Giovanni. His twin. His amazing, wonderful twin brother. His other half, the one who stayed by his side through hell and back, always there after everything.

But of course, as fate would have it, they all stayed the same, after nine months.

At first he was so happy to see them all again, they were all safe.

However as the hours dragged on, that same feeling he had for five entire months came back, stabbing his heart like a hot knife.

Le-Indigo is different.

So...so completely different.

Harder, rougher, merciless, scarred to hell, with so much blood on his hands.

Not the confident, dorky, mother hen of a leader that his brothers knew.

He changed.

He changed so much.

Indigo saw it on their faces as they looked him over, eyes tracing over every single new scar, the new gear and the new mask.

Not blue...Indigo.

Stained by the blood he spilt.

There was worry in their eyes, mixed with confusion and pity.

They felt sorry for him.

He couldn't stay there, knowing that he was so different from how he used to be. From how he was supposed to be. Old memories clashing with new ones.

Was he a Battle Nexus Champion? Or was he a cold blooded killer?

A dangerous threat? Or a symbol of hope a symbol of the clan.

Who was he?

"Leo?" A voice asked. A familiar voice.

Indigo turned his head to see Giovanni. His twin was standing at the other side of the rooftop, having just climbed up.

"Oh hey...Van. What are you doing up?" Indigo slapped a smile on his face, shoving his thoughts deep down below. Everything was fine! He had his brothers back! He should be happy!

So why can't he feel anything but alone.

"I could ask you the same thing." Giovanni walked over and sat down next to his twin. Indigo inched away.

"I needed some air, thats all." The two sat there for a bit, just taking in the city's nightlife.

It was Giovanni that broke the silence.

"Leo what are you really doing up here?" There was no accusation in the question. Regardless, Indigo stiffened.

"i already told you I needed some air."

"You are still a terrible liar." There was an attempt at a joke, a light-hearted tease. He could remember Giovanni had said that so many times when they grew up. Now it just feels like another knife.

"Why are you lying?" The green clad turtle looked stunned at the question.

"What?"

"Why are you pretending that everything is fine when it clearly isnt?"

"I'm...I'm not! Leo-"

"Leonardo is dead." Giovanni went silent at that. "He's gone! Shattered into millions of pieces! All thats left is a broken mess. A calloused murderer thats just as bad as the Shredder was!"

It was the truth after all.

"Dont...Dont compare yourself to the Shredder for crying out loud! Le...Indy you are nothing like him."

Indigo stood up, walking back to the center of the rooftop. "You dont know me Van! You don't know what I've done! I killed people. Hundreds of people. Hell a month ago I was killing people for money. Giovanni's eyes went wide as he hurried over but Indigo kept going.

"How can you pretend that I'm still the same? That I'm still Leonardo after all that? How? Because you should be terrified! You should hate me for everything! For fuck's sake I didn't even try to come home for months! I didn't even remember you existed! So tell me Van how you possibly care for a monster like-"

The tangent was silenced by a hug. A very tight, near bone crushing hug from his twin. "Stop that, stop that right now. You are not a monster you hear me?"

"But Van-"

"You were in this dimension's Battle Nexus."

"Yeah, for the first four months."

"So you had to fight."

"Everyday, multiple times a day." Somehow his twin's hold grew even tighter.

"Ans you had to kill them to survive."

"It was kill or be killed, and I didn't want to die...or worse."

"So everything that happened in the Battle Nexus wasn't your fault. It was entirely Big Mama's. She's the one that forced you to fight, she's the one that took everything from you!" Indigo's legs were starting to tremble, eyes growing glassy and red.

"But I kept going after that! I left the Mad Dogz! I became criminal! I joined a gang! I was a god damn hitman!"

"Why?" Indigo shivered in Giovanni's arms.

"Because Big Mama tripled the amount of money she took from us after every heist because I was with them she wanted me back. We had nothing, so I...I had to bring in some money for the group because it was my fault Big Mama was targeting us."

"That's not what I asked."

"Huh?"

"Let me rephrase it, why did you leave? What made you want to join your little criminal buddies?"

"The Mud Dogs acted like our brothers. Hell they even sounded the same. In fact it was kinda freaky thinking back. Like Mickey was like Mikey when he tries to be intimidating, Danny sounded like Donnie after a cold, and Heinous Green was Raph if he had been smoking for ten years." Giovanni laughed at that.

"And you wanna know the weirdest part?"

"What?"

"Leonard sounded almost exactly like me it was bizarre. Probably why he couldn't stand me."

They both laughed a bit, marveling in the truly weird situation.

"They were, familiar. I didn't understand why at the time but now..."

"You know that you were just missing your family even if you didn't know it so you tried to cope with a similar version?"

"Exactly. I wanted to stay with them despite being such a problem, it didn't take long to find work. I was pretty good at it too. Honestly if was the same situation I would do it for you guys too."

"I know you would."

"But...the entire time I was with the Mud Dogs, hell even with the Mad Dogz, I always felt like an outsider. Like I didn't belong with them no matter how much I tried. Like I was too fucked up to be apart of a family. That only got worse with the Mud Dogs, like trying to shove a square peg into a round hole. Its not going to happen."

Indigo took a breath, rubbing the tears from his eyes.

"It hurt. I kept thinking over and over that something was wrong with me because why couldnt I just be? Why did it feel like I was intruding every single time. Its not like the Mad Dogs were excluding me, I know they tried. But it didnt matter, because I couldn't belong with them, I couldn't belong with the Mud Dogs. And I'm sure of I belong with you anymore either."

The two sat down on the roof top, Indigo still in his twin's arms.

"You don't know that-"

"I get it now."

"Huh?"

"Remember what you said when you came home from your first trip? You said you didn't feel like you belonged.

"I know what I said."

"I didnt understand before but now...its lonely, so lonely and you keep asking why do you feel this way? Why cant you just be with them why is it so complicated?"

Indigo wrapped his arms around Giovanni, returning the hug. "Is that how you felt for years and I never noticed?"

"Its not your-"

"Just answer the question Vanny." Giovanni rested his head on Indigo's shoulder.

"Yeah that about sums it up. But I'm here now I promise."

"Vanny I'm so sorry for never noticing."

"Its not your fault, really it isn't. I needed to find my own path."

"I get it, god do I get it. No wonder you left."

"But I came back."

"There's no coming back from this I'm fucked up beyond repair. The brother you once knew is never coming back."

"That's not true! Indy you went through a ton of fucked up shit, believe me I know. But I know you, I've known you since we were kids! You've always fought against whatever the world threw at you, time and time again. And you came back, even if you had to claw your way back you did. Thats why you survived so long in the Battle Nexus."

Indigo nodded, his entire body shaking like a leaf in the storm. He squeezed Giovanni tighter.

"But this is worse than literally everything we ever faced Vanny. Hell I would take the Super Shredder again in a heartbeat over...this whole situation."

"You are the most stubborn, determined person I know. Its not going to be easy, because lets face it nothing in our lives ever is, hell it will be painful, awful and probably downright horrible. But you'll keep going regardless, whatever the world thinks."

"I can't do this alone...I dont want to do this alone."

"Who said you'll be alone? We'll all be right there with you every step of the way. Raph, Donnie, Mikey, Casey, April, Karai. I'll be right by your side. We'll pick up the pieces, together."

"I don't think I'll ever be the same again."

"Probably not."

"Van!"

"Do you know what Kintsugi is?"

"Its where broken pots are fixed with gold right?"

"Exactly, you wont be the same but we can fix it. Whether that be as Leo or Indigo your still our brother." The tears finally fell as the twins held each other so tightly. They stayed like that for a long time until Indigo pulled away, giving Giovanni a smile.

"When did you get so good at motivational speeches?"

The green clad turtle snorted.

"Its called I had to be the leader for almost an entire year. You get pretty good at motivating everyone after awhile."

"Not so easy is it?"

"I genuinely dont know how you havent had a heart attack because of how stressful keeping those three idiots from killing each other is? Like I love our brothers more than anything in the world but oh my god they can be the most insufferable dingbats of all time!"

"How many fights did you break up?"

"At least a few hundred, I have considered strangling them more than once."

"Welcome to my world."

"Granted, its been rough since you disappeared. Like Donnie said we looked everywhere for you! We...we thought you were dead."

"I'm sorry. I really am. If I had known I would've tried to come back immediately."

"Don't blame yourself, you had all your memories stolen! No one blames you for not trying if you didn't even know you had a family to come home to."

"I know, but I dont think I'll ever stop blaming myself anyway."

"Like I win't stop blaming myself for not looking harder, if we found this dimension sooner then none of this would've happened."

"Lets just blame Big Mama for fucking with our lives."

"Agreed."

The twins leaned against each other, sharing stories of what happened the past nine months. It would be hard but eventually they would be ok.

And perhaps this entire ordeal has brought them back together, gaining a new understanding so that for the first time in years the twins will be whole again.

So how would Giovanni from the Twins au deal with everything that happens on the 2012 side of Lost But Never Found.

Ok so the story begins post season 5, after Giovanni leaves to travel the world.

Well one day he gets an urgent call from Raph, asking him to come home early from his traveling.

The reason why shocks him.

Leo has gone missing.

Which is both concerning and unusual considering that the city was at peace. Most of the action was just petty crime, not alien invasions or deadly feuds between clans.

Most of their villains were gone, either defeated or having since abandoned their evil ways.

So this is definitely out of the blue.

Giovanni returns home as quick as he can, when he enters the lair he doesnt even stay for two minutes before the now four turtles are all riding in the shellraiser, looking for their older brother.

They search the entire city, every single old Kraang hideout, Foot Clan base, everything. Not a single trace of Leo.

But they've only been searching for a few hours! They'll find him.

Hours turn into days.

Days turn into weeks.

Weeks turn into months.

Not a single trace of Leo.

Its like he just disappeared into thin air.

By the time they are four months into the search it becomes apparent that Van has more or less become the defacto leader, he was the next oldest after all. And god is he struggling. He's the medic, not the leader that was always Leo's thing. Making all the important decisions, all three of his younger brother looking to him for answers.

Its hard.

It is also around this time that Donnie makes a horrible statement, that causes one of the biggest fights between the Hamato brothers to date.

"We most likely aren't going to find Leo...and if we do he more than likely wont be alive."

It is Van that speaks first. Well speaks isnt the right word...screams is more like it.

"How can you say that?" Raph and Mikey shout similar responses, and the fight begins.

Deep down Van knows that Donnie is right, they had no leads for months, nothing to work with. Nothing indicating that Leo could still be alive. Hell the odds of finding most missing persons goes down drastically after the first twenty four hours.

Doesn't make it hurt any less. Because no Leo has to be alive. He's survived the worst the universe threw at him, just disappearing and gone forever was so out of pocket, so unbelievably unLeo that it couldn't be true.

And hearing his younger say that made Van's blood boil.

It ended in a screaming match between the four of them, some horrible words were thrown around until the four brothers were all hoarse, faces streaked with tears.

(Little did anyone know that the very next day, in another dimension, Indigo met a certain Red Eared Slider looking for a portal coin)

None of the four Hamato brothers spoke to each other for almost two weeks.

Van took the shellraiser out with Raph every single night, searching for his twin. He barely slept, barely ate, just kept searching and searching.

As the medic he knew it was destroying him, but he didn't care. He would find Leo or die trying.

Everyone kept searching, even asking Renet and the 1987 turtles to help in the search.

But no Leo to be found.

As the months dragged on, Van became the peacekeeper for the many more fights that kept happening between his younger brothers, trying to keep the family together.

But they were all terrified, and they were hurting...so they took that fear and that pain out on each other, saying things they didn't mean and screaming till it hurt.

Eventually, now seven months since Leo disappeared, Giovanni called a meeting.

They couldn't keep doing this anymore. They were all exhausted, they had NOTHING, and they were tearing each other apart.

"Leo wouldn't want us to destroy ourselves like this...all we can do now is try to move on and add his photo to the family shrine." Van's voice was so quiet, so emotionless and so drained. Tears rolled down his cheeks, god he didn't want to do this...

Raph looks pissed off, but that was expected. He was just reluctant to admit that Leo might be gone as Van was.

Donnie was trying not to cry, he knew this was coming at some point.

Surprisingly Mikey doesnt react at all. He just walks over.

And slaps Giovanni across the face, hard.

"How can you say that? How can you just give up on Leo? Our big brother? Your twin! How could you?" Mikey angrily sobs, sparking the second biggest fight since Leo disappeared.

Hours later they are all laying in a turtle pile, Leo's picture added to the shrine while his brothers sobbed and wailed like small children.

The small children that lost their father and now lost their big brother.

A headstone is erected next to Splinter's at the farmhouse. Though it feels hollow since there was no body, no ashes. Nothing.

Giovanni doesnt move from that spot in front of his twin's headstone, even when its pouring down rain.

Good. It hides the tears gushing from his eyes.

Was this his fault? Because he left the family? He came back several times after his travels! He did! And he couldn't stay, Leo knew that. After Splinter's death he felt suffocated, the feeling like he didn't belong in this family becoming so much more apparent.

So he traveled the world, he wasn't meant for the Hamato Lifestyle! He was happier on his travels!

But what if he stayed? If he stayed then maybe Leo would still be here. Was it not enough that they had to lose their father but their big brother too?

"Leo...please if somehow you are still alive give us, give me a sign!" Van whispers, choking on his own tears. "Please just give us something! We'll bring you home I promise! I wont leave again I swear...just give us something to work with." No response but who was Van kidding.

"But if you're...really...then I hope you and father are together. I'm so sorry Leo..." Eventually Raph joins Van at the headstone, holding his older brother while they both mourned their brother in blue.

However that changes when two months later, the four turtles are zapped into a different dimension. Van wakes up first, looking around at alternate versions of his family, when his eyes lock on an oh so familiar looking face that he can't believe it.

There is a fifth turtle among the counterparts, stockier with three toes instead of two, covered in so many scars and wearing an Indigo colored mask. But its him!

Its Leo!

Van scrambles to his feet, sprinting over to his twin before anyone can stop him, even shoving one of the alternate turtles to the floor in the process. He scoops Leo into a bone crushing hug, sobbing into his shoulder.

The others soon join in, the five turtles falling to the floor from the force. Even when Leo tries to squirm away at first, Van just squeezes him tighter. Eventually Van pulls away to actually get a good look at his twin, his heart jumping to his throat at the sight.

So many new scars, new cracks and chips on his plastron, a metal shell on his back.

The jagged, slash marks on his face. The anxiety and exhaustion clear in his eyes. The guilt...the fear... the shame, Van can see it all.

"Leo what happened to you?" Van asks timidly, almost afraid of the answer he would get.

His twin doesn't answer, in fact he looks away, trying to avoid everyone's gazes.

"You ok Indigo?" A red eared slider asks, Leo actually responding to the name.

Leo...or is it Indigo...gulps, trying to make himself look so small.

Eventually he explains everything, from being forced to fight in the Battle Nexus, his rescue, the defeat of the Shredder and how he got his memories back.

That was another thing, Leo forgot EVERYTHING. His family, his life, his name...

All because of Big Mama.

Later that night when the kids and Leo were asleep, Van gathered his three younger brothers.

All four were wearing black masks.

Big Mama put his brother, his twin through so much shit...oh hell no.

Giovanni is not going to let that slide.

None of them are.

What Big Mama did might as well be a declaration of war.

She is going down, and Giovanni is going to make her suffer.
