Mechtober Day 18: Manifesting for SRW (part 3). In a shared universe, all these guys would be Gekiganger 3 fans, of course. (Bravern spoilers under the cut!)
Okay okay also. Also. In an SRW game the events of Nadesico and Bravern would happen contemporaneously. Which would mean there is the possibility Akito could see Gai and Smith killed basically at the same time. I am evil cackling right now over the absolute mental breakdown he'd have.

hi hi hi yeah remember me?
Remember when I posted Build Tiger last year during the Lunar New Year and stuff?
Tried doing that again this year with Team Rabbits from Majestic Prince (’coz year of the Rabbit or whatever) but could only get as far as Gold-4 because of course that little doucheboy was my go-to. Wanted to start with Black-6 but figured that I respected Ange Kuroki too much and Gold-4 was only gonna be my warmup sketch. Also yea Majestic Prince is kind of my guilty pleasure show, borderline a problematic fave, ik, but I enjoyed it, it’s got a banger opening, cool enby rep (Ange ! ! ! But also I think I saw a post on them being a somewhat problematic character somewhere? Maybe? Idk, but back when I first came out Ange was my comfort character so what the hell), and I liked the mecha designs for what they were, specifically Gold-4′s head gimmick was always the coolest thing ever, hence using the robot as a “warmup sketch” that spiralled out of control.
That did not turn out thataway and I got horrid artblock when it came to fanart for a hot minute and so I just didn’t post the WIP because I wanted to add the rest of the team. Finally got tired enough to post what I got now because I am in a horrid spiral and it’s wonderful over here. Fun fact, this account was originally intended as a reading blog with only a spoonful of art on the side and then life happened and now it’s whatever this is. I might post more going forward, or I might not, we’ll see. Yes I know I’m about a month late for Lunar New Year but we can’t all be perfect, eh?

New idea - Mechasonas.
Essentially what you would be if you were a giant robot in an anime.
Me? Some weird combination between Red 5 from Majestic Prince, the Lancelot Albion, and a 4th-Gen Armored Core.

Anime Spotlight - Majestic Prince
This was a fun mecha with a difference, it was about the misfits, the ones that weren’t great and didn’t fit in. It had a more humorous tone and imperfect characters but i really enjoyed it for being different.
The plot takes place in the year 2110, humanity has expanded its frontier into space in its drive for new resources. Advances in genetic engineering research led to the establishment of the MJP (Military Junior Pre-Academy) project, which saw the creation of genetically enhanced humans known as the Evolved Children, developed with the intention of allowing humans to adapt to the new frontier. However, when Earth finds itself under threat by an alien race called the Wulgaru, human forces decide to have the evolved children deployed as soldiers to fight on the front lines.
Team Rabbits, a quintet of evolved children whose troubling lack of teamwork and common sense prevents them from reaching their true potential, are selected as test pilots of cutting edge mobile battle suits called AHSMB (Advanced High Standard Multipurpose Battle Device), powered by the Juria System, a cutting edge technology whose effectiveness in combat is increased according to the survival instincts of whoever uses it.Ep. 4 As they join forces to overcome their personal weaknesses and achieve their true potential, the members of Team Rabbits (nicknamed Majestic Princes because of their association with MJPEp. 2) eventually assume a key role in mankind's effort to thwart the alien invasion of Earth.
This has a strong plot and really develops its characters, the characters a quirky and fun but also weird but willing to fight through adversity. What is really impressive is how good the battles are, this has some of the best mecha battles I’ve ever scene. The animation is great and so are the mech designs. Battles in space and the movement, speed and ferocity are brilliant. This is a great mecha series that trys to break some cliches while embracing others.
But i say it again, the space battles are a thing of beauty and excitement.

Finished watching Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince and
While it was a decent enough pretty fun anime....
I am 1000% CONVINCED that the Italian and German dude operators are canon couple and the show is too coward to admit it openly lol

It's tough taking snaps without my camera, but here's a crappy phone shot of my Rin Rin Beach Queen. Now I just need the powers that be to magic up a Reika to go with her (I can dream). She's cute though, her face is much nicer in person than in the promo pics. Majipuri fans u should get.

god okay so on like an emotional impact level the scene where the kinda sulky blue pilot tells the uwu good boi red pilot "hey so turns out we are half-brothers" felt a bit clumsy/clunky BUT the way it was like
asagi: so we're... like... brothers izuru: ... asagi: ...... izuru: .........oniichan 🥺 asagi: GEH <- filled with instantaneous regret and revulsion but also the newfound brotherly instinct to die for him
was literally so funny lmao

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before… mass alien invasion threatens human race, only means of combating aliens is with their own technology that the military got their hands on and developed for teenagers to use. Despite a tweak to that overused concept that I did think was really original and unique, Majestic Prince (Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince) never really veers too far off that one idea. There are a couple of side stories going on, but they never really develop.
And exactly •none of that• mattered to me. It’s not that I didn’t notice all of it, but from just a few minutes in, I was totally in love with these kids and the handful of adults that are more attached to them than they’d ever admit to. The ‘Fail Five’ as they were known at school are, to me, the perfect depiction of what military teenagers would actually be like if what happens in anime were ever reality. They’re just total goofballs who rarely have the maturity to grasp the situation, and are often oblivious to it in its entirety. They have hilarious personalities, but they are uncommonly completely believable personalities. I laughed so much, but mostly, I felt an instant connection to the cast from the very start, even with the shallow backstories and minimal character development throughout. I thought the art and the drawing for this was incredible, as well, but the characters far outshine both.
Majestic Prince is another of those Armageddon-evading space odysseys of epic proportions where kids pilot mecha and save the world from the brink of destruction. It takes a common theme and follows most conventions from start to finish. Whereas it is an entertaining thrill ride, there’s not a lot of surprises. There are five fantastic characters almost always at center stage, though, and they are what made me really love watching this one. Such a good time, totally recommend it.
