Sometimes, massive stars can blow bubbles. This image shows perhaps the most famous star-bubbles of all, NGC 7635, also known simply as The Bubble Nebula. Although it looks delicate, the 7-light-year diameter bubble offers evidence of violent processes at work. To the top left of the Bubble's center is a hot, O-type star, several hundred thousand times more luminous and 45-times more massive than the Sun. A fierce stellar wind and intense radiation from that star has blasted out the structure of glowing gas in a surrounding molecular cloud. The intriguing Bubble Nebula and associated cloud complex lie 7,100 light-years away toward the boastful constellation Cassiopeia. This sharp, tantalizing view of the cosmic bubble is a reprocessed composite of previously acquired Hubble Space Telescope image data.

A Little Self Care

Just finished watching Dot and Bubble for the second time. What an excellent Doctor Who episode.

It took me a bit to realize what was happening. I was watching with some friends and 18min in we turned to each other and said "huh, why are they all white?".

And still, we didn't fully catch the (in hindsight) blatant racism the first time round until quite a bit later. It felt "off", but I didn't recognize it for what it was, I assumed Lindy was just a rude b*tch to everyone not in her bubble. Pun intended. She was dismissive of Ruby at first, but (in hindsight) thawed to her rather quickly while continuing to be rude to the Doctor. It's very obvious on a rewatch and makes me want to pay even more attention to this in the real world going forward.

RTD, you are a genius, lulling us into thinking we know what's going on with the "ohh, he did a Barbie x Black Mirror crossover!" and holding up a distorted mirror of society to see how long it takes for us to notice. Ncuti's frustrated groan at the end was so real, magnificent acting.

Love to see that the current Doctor Who team is not shying away from explicitly calling things out and I'm very much looking forward to Rogue.
