- IKEA sponsorship in the style of the Sims IKEA expansion packs. Adding thousands of furniture models might crash most of the players but that's fine as long as they pay well.

- Doied Rat poison endorsement. Any brand works. Tease it as Roier lore, have Doied hunt down his brother in a cinematic. Doesn't have to succeed in killing him as long as we get the views

- Dunkin' Donuts. The Eggs have to be fed baked goods anyway, why not change the bakery into a Dunkin' Donuts shop? Eggs might grow up to hate donuts after only being fed them but at least they come in many different designs.

- Raid Shadow Legends. I'd write something else here if all the ads had actually taught me what this game is.

The moment she started yapping about her experience as a gambler in her FTE, to simply turn out to be nothing but gambling manga references, made me so embarrassed for her. She’s absolutely so cringe, and to add on that, in “Hair & Gyoza” (Danganronpa 3 Drama CDs ALL 4 DISCS: Kizakura’s Double, Departure, & 2 Bonus Discs! ~LOST MEDIA~ found on YouTube), 

She mentions wanting to ride a robot.

It’s also explained that she only joined Hope’s Peak because Kizakura Koichi mentioned a lucky student would be joining her class, and she flat out said it was a sign she was chosen by the ultimate lucky student in her class (Naegi). And for my personal view, when she antagonized Naegi for Sayaka’s murder, I feel like that’s her testing his luck, perhaps? But it also might explain why she’s in the background of every pre-game photo just standing, she spends her life in the underground gambling so of course she’s going to be socially awkward

And you’re so correct that everything in chapter 3 was just her being her! People mention why didn’t she use her great poker face in that trial, as if we didn’t see her snap over the littlest thing, such as Hifumi over her milk tea not being exactly how she wanted, or when in “Hair & Gyoza,” throwing a TANTRUM when Kizakura accidentally slipped on a gyoza wrapping and ripped off her drills, kicking, screaming, only to calm down when she requested Kizakura to give her a massage. She makes me physically recoil. So, of course, she’s going to be yelling when she is on trial for a DOUBLE MURDER!! 

As for Celeste’s ass-kissing scene for Byakuya, I interpret it as Celeste having a crush on him, maybe? In the DR collab with Sanrio, Kuromi has a crush on Badtz-maru, something Celeste and Byakuya are seen with in the collab and Celeste’s JP voice actor interview mentions,

“It’s something like, Celestia, Togami, Fukawa, a love triangle?”

I remember Koichi mentioning he was going to scout Celestia, but I don't remember the tidbit about the lucky student. Is that from the anime or other supplementary media? Either way, Celestia living out her "chosen one" fantasy through such stupid means. I can't take her seriously I can't. Her antagonizing Makoto to test his luck is a really cool interpretation! I chalked it up to her usual meddling behavior but it's been established that she had been curious about his luck and how it compares to hers....thinking emoji.

Also yeah, I'm sure the actual reason she's just standing there in the photos is because they didn't want to draw a complicated character design over and over again but. One of the only pictures where they don't slap a sprite png on the background is the one with Hifumi where she's visibly embarrassed. Honestly, I think most HPA students are socially awkward. It'd be easier to count the ones who ARE good at socializing. Also in the manga it's slightly implied that she grew up isolated or even bullied. Also her insistence that Yasuhiro is a loser's name...#wdym

I had no idea that there were hints towards her crushing on Byakuya! I personally interpreted the ass-kissing as her wanting to BE Togami. He's rich, powerful, famous, and nothing about his life is "boring". From the second he shows up, he draws everyone's attention and even gains admirers. He is looked after by servants and travels the world. He is EVERYTHING Celestia wants, so he's definitely at the very top of her ranking system.

tbh i dont think villain deku is inherently a bad concept but he's been oncelerfied so badly it's kind of difficult to imagine a scenario that doesn't suck total ass.

like, there's practically zero good examples of it and a billion shitty ones - making him evil for the sake of it, arbitrarily replacing his fashion sense (this shouldn't happen basically no matter what - what does his social standing have to do with how he dresses lmao? do you think a life of crime precludes someone to wearing dumbass shirts and garish sneakers? participation in this phenomenon is loser behavior), totally rewriting his childhood, giving him a "villain's quirk", forcing him to be subservient to some shmuck who abducted him, all might denying him heorics/ofa so he becomes a villain out of spite (for some reason - usually because he suddenly develops a hatred of all might, as if he'd ever not worship the ground that man walks on even if he beat deku senseless (and let's be Extra Fucking Clear here that he wouldn't, ever)), he never meets all might so he (insert random previously-mentioned scenario here), et cetera. it's all thoughtless, boring, and trite - taking the path of least resistance in pursuit of an aesthetic, completely disregarding the character's, well, character. it fucking blows. if you want aesthetics without character, go find some brainless png slot machine to appropriate - they'll probably have a design that's more "gremlin-like" or "feral" anyhow, you annoying motherfuckers

what potential does a concept like "villain deku" have then if the existing popular scenarios are dogshit? it's very narrow, to be honest, and it doesn't make sense without some degree of interference in his life during or after the hero course. essentially: he learns of the injustices the hpsc operates on and goes rogue over it, in a manner *maybe* similar to lady nagant, though he wouldn't kill the director (he's got the potential to be faster than a speeding bullet; gunfire doesn't pose an imminent threat on his life).

(to be clear, i think intervening in his character at any point earlier than his entry to UA is fucking with who he is on a fundamental level and is lazy. work with canon even just a little bit for these "canon divergent" scenarios, please - your work and creativity will benefit from it, i promise. and calling it an alternate universe when the only change is making deku a villain is still lazy because it'll fall into one of those shitty cliches i was just bitching about.)

that's the type of thing that could lead him to be classified as a villain - rebellion against the system of power he intended to serve and its violence. he wouldn't just be out killing people or committing violence for fun, though - he has the make of a "beloved vigilante" among the populace; a righteous man of the people who's conscious of the injustices faced by the everyman. a robin hood among heroes, villains, and vigilantes. stain, if he rescued instead of killed. and was more intimidating anyways, somehow (it's the poor hygiene).

he has the drive to strive for justice in a way the people in power don't appreciate - let's not forget how he, alongside iida and todoroki, were treated by the cops after the stain incident; how the school responded to the bakugou rescue squad; how he was scolded for protecting UA from gentle and la brava (even if the incident was comparably mild, and he wasn't scolded for his action so much as his inaction. the point here is that he went against authority, not that he got in deep shit for it). deku doesn't care what the consequences of his actions are as long as (he believes) he's helping/defending someone or something he believes in.

also, like ‐ and pretend we're living in the world where ofa remains intact - he'd never get fucking caught. basically every power in ofa's arsenal is an escape tool. he has multiple distinct speed/mobility amplifiers, cover in the form of smokescreen, can fly, and (most obviously) danger sense. he escaped the cops in whm with just full cowling and blackwhip. he's untouchable with the rest of it.

Monty: Wait what do you mean by stolen?

Candy: Huh! Did I never told you how my series was created?

Monty: No.

Candy: Well you better prepare yourself because it isn’t like how others fan games were created.

It all started some time after Fnaf 2 but before Fnaf 3 was announced. My creator Emil Macko, was very good at creating models, so good that he was able to recreate some Toy animatronics from scratch. But one day he created a model for a Fnaf oc that he created, that OC was me Candy the Cat and then he posted a picture of me to the internet. Since Emil models were so good a lot of Fnaf fans believe that I was a real animatronics in Fnaf 2 and a shadow on the Prize Corner was me hiding in the shadows, but in reality was just a shadow of 3 balloons that looked kinda like a cat.

But around that time a guy made a fangame and he called it Fnaf 3, which kinda made Scott kinda mad because people were believing that this fan game was the real Fnaf 3. Then Scott said to this guy “Change the name of this fan game or I will put this Fan game down”, so the creator changed the name of the game to “Return to Freddy’s”. But this fan game was really bad, it was a mixture of Fnaf 1 and Fnaf 2 which used PNG’s of the characters and locations, stolen code from Fnaf 1 and 2 (which is illegal) and a stolen fan character that was renamed to Sugar and was turned into a girl… that fan character was me.

Candy: And it was literally the pictures that my creator posted on the internet of me slapped in Fnaf 1 and 2 cameras and the jumpscare was my face photoshopped to Toy Bonnie jumpscare. After that my creator found out that his character was stolen for a fangame. And he learned that because there were people that thought that my creator stole me from this guy that made that fangame. My creator tried to ask the fan game creator to remove me from the game, but the creator of the fan game was kinda of a jerk with a big ego (the guy in one of the updates for the fan game changed a sprite name in the game files to “Emil is a bitch”) so he refused. My creator was so mad that he decided to make a fangame about me to prove that he was my creator and that he could create a better fangame that this loser. And now I’m getting my official merchandise and the “Return to Freddy’s” series being dead for years and the creator of that fan game series did some things that ruined his reputation.

Monty: Wow, that’s probably the best story to why a fangame was created that I ever heard.

Candy: Thanks… But despite that… I kinda happy that I was stolen… Because if I wasn’t… I probably wouldn’t be here right now.

Monty: Like I’m happy that people hated Chippers… Because I wouldn’t be here if people weren’t to harsh on that game.

I wanted to comment on your tags on that one gacha post about enjoying the gacha mechanic because same... l really enjoy waiting for a fave and micromanaging my arknights cancer rocks for months about it it's fun and satisfying for me. I'm aware of how predatory the gambling systems are and also that if everyone played like me (i don't really spend) the games wouldn't run. I'm aware of how iffy it all is but I still enjoy the dopamine and i don't even have a point to make here I just wanted to say that I feel what you were saying

yeah I get ya. I like claw machines and blind boxes too. and the wait/hype surrounding NPCs and new characters. it's just how it is.

I felt like I came off as too aggressive in that post but I couldn't be arsed to fix it after I hit reblog. I just don't like the expectation to be like, "oh here's the gacha game I play and here's my waiver that says: I'm a grownup idiot, I'm fully aware of all the problematic and predatory factors in gacha games (list attached) and I play gachas but I do it while feeling sorry and I will let condescension wash over me yeah I should play super mario bros instead of participating in this folly." there's recognizing the inherent issues of something you consume, and then there's...whatever that is.

don't get me wrong, there's of course a lot to be said and discussed about predatory tactics and monetization of games. I just feel like the tone surrounding gacha has devolved into either end of this spectrum where one side is reddit-esque "why don't you play some REAL games" and the other side is "lmao what a loser getting tricked by PNGs." the latter is mildly surprising to me because this is the website where addiction usually gets treated with some compassion, understanding and respect for autonomy.

I think ultimately I just don't have the same appreciation and respect for video games as a medium that some of these people have - that is to say, I'm not a True Gamer. I don't think arknights not being a gacha would've made it a better game. it's a fact that the gacha route has given a small first-timer studio like hypergryph (even if backed by yostar at the time) the opportunity to keep making and releasing content - both in-game and adjacent - that they wouldn't have had otherwise. and I'm glad I've been getting new content of something that I genuinely enjoy for the past 4 years.

I dunno. there's always been a strange animosity towards consumers in gamer culture anyway. if lowlight wanted to create an indie studio that released a game every 6 years with whatever talent he poached from GFL I'm sure he would've.
