Relationship headcanons. Who has what qualities in the relationship?

Jay

There is a very thin line that this man will call his limit on PDA. He's kissing you, pulling you into his lap, hell if he has to come into med for any reason while you're on shift you better be paying attention because he's probably smacking your ass if he catches no kid around. To be fair you do smack his ass right back.

He has his arm around your waist or shoulders in public, wants to feel as much of you as close to him as possible

He was intrigued with you from the moment you were introduced to the unit. What made him fall for you? Was it the fact that you refused to give up no matter how bad the situation seemed? Was it when you risked your life to get him out of a Humvee or was it when you all got home and nothing went right until you were back in his life? With you even the bad days weren't that bad.

This man fucking adores seeing you wear his shirts. Something about knowing that you're choosing something of his puts a smile on his face.

Loves when you catch him watching TV/ catching up on paperwork and you just crawl into his lap and curl up against him

The first time him and Mouse both slept with you he kept teasing you every time you would blush. He had always seen you as this army medic with a temper that matched his so to see him and Mouse be able to make you a blushing mess? You had him hooked from the very first time.

Picked up on the fact that you love being praised and he makes a habit to do it in innocent ways. "You smell so good baby" "Good job sweetheart"

Again he knows your temper. He has seen you get pissed and nearly take grown men down. When you get jealous, he normally tries not to let it get too far. "Princess, we know who we belong to" and he's kissing your neck. If that doesn't work he's picking you up around the waist and carrying you out, he doesn't want to risk you getting in trouble.

Mouse

He isn't quite as big on PDA as Jay. Don't get me wrong this man will gladly kiss you anywhere, anytime but he has a lot longer list as to what's considered behind closed doors activities than Jay does

He has his hand on your lower back, fingers through your belt loops, or fingers curled around yours in public

The moment he laid eyes on you he wanted your attention. There was just something about you. What made him fall for you? Was it your character? The fact that you could laugh and joke to keep the spirits of the living up while he could see in your eyes the fact that you were mourning the dead? Was it when you saved his life the first time or when he woke up on a cold bathroom floor with his head in your lap? Or was it when you never gave up on him?

You steal his undershirts like hell. You like wearing them under your scrub tops. He always buys twice the amount he needs to make sure there's plenty for you too because you're not gonna use them unless you're sure he's wore them at least twice

Loves when you lay your head in his lap/ let him lay his head in your lap and play in each others hair. Physical touch has always grounded both of you

The first time him and Jay both slept with you he was nervous, until the first time you blushed and called them both so damn gorgeous. Then when he slipped and told you how good of a job you were doing taking both of them? Your reaction? Was EVERYTHING

He knows you love being praised. He will do so whenever, wherever and this fucker will whisper it in your ear..IN THE HOSPITAL WHEN YOU HAVE A SHIFT TO FINISH

When you get jealous be prepared to get dragged into his lap. You're in his arms the rest of the night. This man is making a damn point.

As a Duo loving you

You and Jay have bad temper and worse sass. Mouse evens that out

Three people in the same house, same bed that sometimes have nightmares isn't easy but you manage. No one is allowed to not talk it out (looking at you Jay)

Has Will on speed dial to always know what type of shift you have to know what you need when they get home

Jealous? These two men? OF FUCKING COURSE!! They have loved you for years. Long before they ever actually got you, god help the poor soul that hits on you. They will give you a chance to get the man to leave, give the man a chance to be decent and take a hint. If not...well should've took a hint

Can not sleep without you between them. They both have got to have their arms wrapped around you. Seriously. They act like you're gonna float away when they doze off.

None of you wore anything marking you as each other's until Jay's ex hit Chicago. You broke two tables in Molly's and got a drink named after you...after that they bought you a ring and got matching ones

The running plan is if you ever want kids to go with IVF because you wouldn't chose to have one of their kids over the other's.

What's worse? Someone you love being out of your reach? Or them being close yet further away than they've ever been?

After you finally got Mouse and Jay to go home and profusely apologized to Maggie for the intrusion even though she told you multiple times it didn’t bother her and that she understood why they had taken over her porch you were about to attempt sleep when Ethan called you. Crap, you’d forgotten the meeting. “Hey Ethan. I am so sorry I forgot the meeting. Is there one tomorrow or the next night? I really need to get into one but I had a lot going on”

He chuckled lightly “Yeah I came by Maggies to check on you” you groaned “Did they say anything rude to you? Because I swear I will get dressed right now and go kick their asses” he laughed “Easy ranger, they were civil enough. We just talked” “Good” you breathed, feeling your shoulders relax a bit to know they weren’t rude to the one person you had who knew exactly what you’d been through and was in your corner on that. “How ya feeling after seeing them? You have laid eyes on them for what, a week?”

“Yeah. I don’t know… how would you feel if it was April?” “That good huh?” he replied and you laughed lightly “Yeah. The only way I got them to leave is by telling them I would consider talking to them” “If it’s weighing on your mind you need to get it off. You’re carrying enough” he offered and you smiled slightly “Wise words Dr Choi” he spoke away from the phone then said “April said if you need her to call and that she loves you” “Tell her I will and I love her”

After you hung up with Ethan you still couldn’t sleep so you texted Erin Babe, you up? And she replied for you? Always you smiled and texted back Can we meet for breakfast before work? You laid back on the couch and leaned your head back on the pillow as your phone chimed Ok but I’m buying the pretty little trauma nurse her food

After you’d had breakfast with Erin the shadows in your head felt a little less dark. There was something about having someone who’d fallen down into her own hole and dug herself up right at your side that helped. She listened to everything you had to say, offered her opinion and never judged you. 

You had come to a decision so at lunch time you unlocked your phone, ignoring where Mouse had hacked it days before and changed the wallpaper to a photo of you, him and Jay and clicked the group text thread. There were dozens of texts from both of them, some you’d read others you’d just swiped so the new message alert would go away. 

You took a deep breath and typed You know that diner down from the precinct? Within seconds messages from them both popped up M:Yeah?  J:Yeah?  You hesitated before replying My shift ends at 6. I’ll meet you there at 6:30 ao we can talk you didn’t wait to see their answers right then you just locked your phone and slid it into your scrub pocket then heard Crocket call your name so happily you had an excuse to fall right back into work. 

BORDER

Jay and Mouse both sat staring at their phones. “I’m reading this right, aren’t I?” Jay asked and Mouse nodded slowly “She wants to talk to us” the only question was what did you want to talk about? “Is she telling us to stay away from her for good?” Mouse asked quietly and Jay shrugged “Your guess is as good as mine. The only person here that would know would be Erin. Hell I heard her telling Al she met her for breakfast. Not like she’s telling us anything though”

“Can you blame any of them for choosing her over us?” Mouse asked, cutting his eyes at him. Jay shook his head “No, I didn’t mean to ever make her think what she went through didn’t matter. How do you think I feel every time I see her without a shirt and know those scars are there because she chose to pull me out?” “How do you think I feel, especially knowing she came here looking for comfort after having a panic attack because of my OD?” Mouse questioned and both men fell silent.

Jay stood up and slapped his leg “C’mon. We got work to do. Sitting here wondering isn’t going to change what she plans to tell us” Mouse nodded, standing up and following Jay out of the tech room and upstairs.

When you finally sat down in your car you pulled out your phone to check the text thread J:We’ll meet you there baby  M:We’ll be waiting sweetheart you shook your head at the names. Yeah this was going to be interesting to say the least but you had to take this step, especially after their performance at Maggies. You were not about to inconvenience your friends like that, not when your name was still on that damn mortgage.

You spotted Jay’s truck and parked next to it. You almost checked your reflection in the mirror then remembered it didn’t really matter. You climbed out of the car and headed for the door. The moment you stepped inside you spotted the two of them. They were sitting in a booth in the corner and their eyes locked onto yours. Same as that day you were introduced to the unit. Sky blue eyes and seafoam blue staring you down. 

You took a deep breath and walked towards them. They both stood up when you got closer but you shook your head “Just sit down. Damn” a slight smile slipped onto both of their faces as they sat down. The moment you were across from them the waitress brought over coffee. You raised an eyebrow and Mouse shrugged “I thought you may need some after a shift” 

“Thank you” you spoke low before making the coffee to your taste. You took a sip before finally raising your eyes to meet theirs. “Do you know how bad that pissed me off, you coming to Maggies like that? Not only did you intrude on my privacy but you intruded on hers and you used CPD equipment to do so”

They dropped their gaze to the table but didn’t reply beyond that. “How am I supposed to stay anywhere when I know you two could show up at any given moment and refuse to leave?”

They didn’t raise their gaze so you knocked on the table “Hey, that wasn’t a rhetorical question. What the fuck am I supposed to do?” “Baby we didn’t know what else to do” Jay offered and Mouse met your eyes “Sweetheart just come home”

You swallowed hard “That’s what I’m here to talk to you about” you saw their eyes light up so you shook your head “Don’t do that. I’m not moving back in. My name is still on the mortgage, along with Jay’s. I’m going to come back and sleep in the guest bedroom until Jay can get the mortgage switched over completely in his name and at that time I can try to get a loan to get my own place then”

Mouse blinked fast a few times and you looked away because you knew he was trying to not cry. You couldn’t let him break your heart. You loved him and Jay so damn much but if they couldn’t meet you halfway, if you weren’t indeed the answer to their hearts then why stick around? You were in a battle with your own head half your days as is, all three of you were. Why be in a relationship that only one of you was in with both feet? 

“So we’re supposed to let the love of our lives sleep in the guest room and I’m supposed to go get your name off the mortgage so you can walk away from us?” Jay asked and anger flickered to life in your stomach as your eyes flew to his. 

Both of you had unshed tears shining in your eyes but your tempers were luckily winning out at the moment “Do you love me Jay? Really, do either of you actually love me? Or do you love the woman who has consistently saved your lives from the moment she met you? The one who ran into firefights to ensure you were ok. The one who disobeyed direct orders to get you two out of that humvee. The one who ran after you while you were fucking everything you could get your dick in to try to feel something just to make sure you weren’t getting yourself killed. The woman who dragged herself off a fucking cliffside in Tennesse when she could’ve ended her fucking pain to come home to Chicago to help yours? The woman who went in a window to find Greg half dead on the floor and didn’t care that he threw up all over her only winter coat? The woman who has put you two back together time and again? Do you fucking love me or do you love being saved?”

“We love you” they spoke in unison, voices low. You nodded slowly “Then do this and prove it. Give me a roof over my head until I can provide myself one. That’s all I ask of you” 

Jay nodded first “Ok” Mouse dropped his gaze to his hands “Ok” you nodded “Ok. Now, can we leave? I’m not hungry and I don’t want to be in public”

“Of course” Jay spoke and you looked from him to Mouse, gaze lingering on Mouse. You’d held him in your lap begging him to stay awake, stay breathing. He had Jay, he’d make sure he stayed ok. 

“When we get there, I’m just there. I don’t want to talk. I don’t need anything from either of you. Act like I don’t exist” Mouse raised his eyes to you and you could see the tears in them “How are we supposed to have you there and act like you’re not?” you shrugged “It’s that or I have nowhere else to go” 

He shook his head then cut his eyes at Jay. They shared a long look before Mouse nodded “Ok”

“So we just act like she’s not there?” Mouse asked as Jay’s truck followed your tail lights in the direction of your place. “What other option do we have Greg? It’s that or she’s couch surfing or worse. Do you want her to leave Chicago?”

“Of course I don’t but can you really tell me it’s gonna be a walk in the park for her to be there and not have any reaction to her?” Mouse asked and Jay shook his head “She’s coming home. She’ll come around and talk to us” “And if she doesn’t?” Mouse pushed but Jay just shook his head again “She will”

You parked your car next to Jay’s truck and climbed out to get your duffle bag out of the trunk. Jay took a step towards you and you knew he meant to carry it but you shook your head. He stepped back and nodded. You hoisted it over your shoulder and walked up to the door. Mouse walked up next to you and simply held a key out “I’ll get your key out of the drawer in the kitchen later” 

“Thank you” you whispered before unlocking the door and pushing it open. You could feel their presence behind you and tears started to threaten your eyes. You shook your head and walked straight for the guest room without another glance backwards. If you looked and saw their faces, how broken you knew they looked..there was a chance you’d give in and if they couldn’t prove that they actually loved YOU not just their savior then you didn’t need to be there. Your energy could only last so far burning it off.

 You closed the door and locked it behind you. The lock wasn’t for them. No matter what you trusted those two men with your life. The lock was to give yourself those few extra seconds worth of thought.

Jay and Mouse stood in the center of the living room staring at the guest bedroom. “How do we prove that we love her?” Jay asked, your words echoing in his mind. You thought they didn’t love you. You thought that they only loved that you always saved them. The memories of you fighting some woman he’d taken to bed because her husband had beat his ass when he’d caught him drunk flashed through his mind along with that damned cliff..that cliff that almost took you from them..the darkest time for you. They had to prove it to you.

Mouse remained quiet, memories of you arguing with your C.O. The day of the convoy flashed through his mind because he’d still been semi conscious. How you’d told them they were welcomed to court marshal you but you were saving your boys first. The pain in your eyes when he’d woke up in your lap, how he’d apologized for throwing up on you but you’d shook your head and told him “No, I want you to get that crap out of you”

You thought that they didn’t love you, that they only loved you for what you’d done for them and that crushed him along with the memories of that fucking cliff..they came so close to losing you.

“We don’t give up on her like she’s never given up on us” Mouse answered finally after a moment and Jay nodded.

Jay and Mouse had dozed off somewhere around midnight when the sound of your scream broke through the silence in the apartment. Both men were on their feet and moving without having to say a word to each other. They scanned the living room, front door, guest bedroom door. Did someone come in your window?

They moved towards it and Jay reared back to kick the door in when you made another low pitched whining sound. “Jay, wait!” Mouse stopped him. “She’s hurt!” Jay argued and Mouse nodded towards the door “Listen” they pushed their ears to the door and listened “No no no…please…fucking breathe! Breathe dammit!”

“It’s a nightmare” Mouse spoke low, shoulders dropping as realization sat in at just how bad things were getting for you again. Jay wiped a hand across his face “Should we try to wake her up?” it was breaking both of them to hear you sobbing in your sleep and being helpless. “Let’s go back to sleep out here so if she happens to wake up and decide she wants to talk” Mouse offered and Jay nodded “Good idea”

You were used to not sleeping by this point because even when you slept you didn’t rest. You got up and dug around in your duffle to separate clean and dirty. You would do a load of laundry when the guys left for work, you had a night shift so you could go buy your own detergent and all later. 

You needed a shower. You gathered a bundle of clothes and opened the door. You did not expect Mouse to be asleep on the floor on one side and Jay to be asleep on the floor on the other side. What the actual hell? Didn’t matter. You needed to shower and either leave before they roused or be about to leave. The less time you were in close quarters with them the better because more than once when you woke up the night before, knowing they were that close you wanted them.

Mouse woke up when the hall bathroom door clicked shut. He glanced up and saw the guest bedroom door was cracked open. Ok, you were awake. He stood up, stretching as he did so and nudged Jay with his foot on the way to the kitchen “Wake up man”

Jay flinched awake “What?” Mouse nodded towards the hall bathroom “She’s up” Jay wiped hand along his face and nodded “You making coffee?” Mouse waved towards the coffee maker in front of him “No, I’m making waffles. What’s it look like” “Smartass” Jay grumbled.

You stepped out of the shower and could hear Jay and Mouse’s voices coming from the kitchen. Your eyes closed for a moment. Ok, you were ok. You quickly dried off and got dressed. You could do this. Head held high. You put the towel in the hamper, it was the only one in it since this bathroom was rarely used.

You stepped into the hall and could feel their eyes on you. You walked towards the guest bedroom. “Morning” Jay spoke first and you didn’t respond. You’d meant it when you asked them to not speak to you. “Want some coffee?” Mouse asked and you walked into the guest room, closing the door behind yourself. 

You grabbed your keys and purse and slipped your shoes on before walking back out. You didn’t look their way as you walked out the door. You had to keep walking.

“We’re losing her more and more each day. You realize that, don’t you?” Mouse asked and Jay spun to face him “Dammit Greg, I know ok! I know. I fucked up thinking she was just angry. Do you honestly think this isn’t killing me too? That hearing her in pain and not being able to hold her for the first time in years isn’t ripping my heart out?”

Mouse felt his shoulder sag, he hadn’t meant to snap at Jay. They were both hurting, scared of losing you.  “She wouldn’t even look at us” he whispered and Jay nodded “I know, believe me I know”

You managed to make it far enough down the block you knew neither of them would see you before you had to pull over and park. The tears were blurring your vision a little too much. You were exhausted. The only time you could focus was when you were at work. It gave you a purpose, someone to help. You hadn’t even realized you’d fallen back into that pattern yet here you were. A hull of yourself. For years it was you, Jay and Mouse. One stumbles and the other two pick them up but now you questioned everything. You felt alone, alienated. 

You leaned your head over on the steering wheel and sobbed. Your hands shook as you reached for the phone and hit Ethan’s number. He answered on the second ring “Hey” “When’s the closest meeting?” “Let me make a call. Where are you?” he asked and you swallowed hard “Just call me back, ok?”

You hung up and dropped the phone into your lap. You wanted Jay. You wanted Mouse. You wanted them to wrap their arms around you and convince you that you weren’t broken, that you weren’t a waste but now you even doubted their feelings on that.

Forgive Us

When one of your boys is taken hostage and you don't find out until it's almost over they know they gotta earn your forgiveness

Pretty much smut...not gonna lie

Normally you woke up to either the shrill sound of the alarm going off or one of your boyfriends gently waking you up. It was a rare occurrence you managed to wake up before them. Today was one of those rare occurrences. You woke up with your back tucked against Jay’s chest and Mouse turned on his side facing you, fast asleep. He had one hand tucked up on the pillow next to him and you couldn’t resist the urge to touch him. 

He was so damn gorgeous, especially when he was relaxed. You reached a hand out and gently ran your finger up the side of his jaw then behind his ear, tucking some of the locks that had gotten a little wild from his usual styled look. His eyes slowly opened, a smile slipping onto his face “Good morning beautiful”  You smiled “Good morning” 

You felt his hand slip down to hook over your hip, pulling you closer before he brushed his lips against yours in a gentle kiss. You sighed against his mouth, giving him the chance to deepen the kiss as he tugged you under him. You moaned lightly when he rolled his hips down against yours “Well that’s a little rude that I don’t even get an invitation” 

He laughed lightly, dropping his head against your shoulder as you cut your eyes up into Jay’s blue eyes and grinning face. The way his eyelashes kissed the freckles splashed across his cheeks always made you want to stare at them for hours. He was equally gorgeous. There were so many times you had no freaking clue what the two of them were even doing with you. “Didn’t realize you were awake baby, c’mere” 

Mouse moved to kiss down your left shoulder, licking and nibbling at the skin as Jay’s lips caught yours in a hungry kiss, tongue wandering into your mouth as his hand gripped your chin to hold you in place. Mouse’s hands began to wander lower on your body, slipping under the sleep shorts you’d worn to bed to tease at your clit while Jay’s slipped under your tank top, rolling a nipple between two fingers. You gasped lightly from the mixture of sensations, Mouse’s slow calculated movements and Jay’s sharp pinches soothed by the warm palm of his hand, your head dropping further back into the pillows. 

The alarm clock started blaring and they looked at each other over you and then looked down at you “Baby..” “Oh you son of a bitches” you growled when they both pulled their hands away from your body, light kisses being placed on opposite sides of your neck. “Sorry sweetheart” Mouse whispered and Jay grinned “We’ll make it up to you later princess, aren’t you on a surgical rotation today?”

You shook your head “I traded with April actually, I’m down in emergency with my favorite brother in law” Mouse raised an eyebrow “Baby, I’m an only child. You only have one” you grinned “I know” before taking his extended hand “Now who’s getting in the shower with me and who’s starting coffee?”

You pulled Mouse by the front of the white shirt he was buttoning up to you “I love you Greg” he crashed his lips against yours “I love you too” once he let you go Jay was pulling you back into his arms,your fingers going to the collar of his short sleeve henley to tease at his neck “I love you Jay” he smiled “I love you too baby” he catching your lips in a lingering kiss.

You shook your head at them both “You two don’t make it fair, you’re too damn good looking” They exchanged a look then Mouse pointed at you “Does she not see how sexy she is in just her scrubs?” Jay shrugged “We apparently have a long night ahead of us if not”

You rolled your eyes at them “How the hell did I get blessed with not one idiot to spend the rest of my life with but two?” Jay grinned “You lucked out and found a bonded pair sweetheart” you laughed “Dear god Jay. On that I’m going to the hospital. Stay safe. I love you both, I’ll see you tonight”

You were helping Maggie at the front desk when you heard Will call your name. You glanced up and saw him walking towards you “You look like you’ve seen a ghost Will. What’s wrong?” you asked, coming around the desk. Your stomach dropped down to your feet “Did something happen to Jay?”

“No no no. Jay’s ok” you held his eyes as he spoke and knew he was telling the truth. Jay was ok but something was still wrong. “Ok but what aren’t you telling me?” “I um I need some help so can you shadow me if you don’t mind?” you put your hands on your hips as you stared at him “That’s what med students are for” he cut his eyes at Maggie, the two of them having a silent conversation that you had a striking feeling was about you before she said “Go with him sweetie”

“Fine but when I find out what’s going on I’m gonna be pissed that everyone is lying to me” you promised, turning on your heel to head back in the direction Will had come from. “Thank you” he mouthed to Maggie.

He hadn’t known what else to do when Jay called. Mouse was being held at gunpoint by a desperate father in the precinct. Jay’s words had been “Just try to keep an eye on her. She’s gonna lose it if she finds out. I’m here and I got it handled” so this was what he could do but he knew you well enough to know that when you did find out, he may need a doctor.

Your heart was breaking for the girls you were helping to treat. They’d all been through absolute hell. Where had they come from? Someone had mentioned intelligence but Jay nor Mouse had said anything about a trafficking case. 

You walked out of one of the rooms in search of Will and caught the rear end of him asking Erin what was going on at the precinct. “Voight’s keeping a cap on it” On what? You started to let them know you were there but then Will said “You know when Jay got home I wasn’t there for him but Mouse was”

“What happened to Mouse?” you asked, shoving both hands against Will’s chest, making him stumble backwards. Erin stepped between you both, shooting a glare at Will “You didn’t tell her?” He shrugged “Jay said not to” You were beginning to panic when you looked back at her with wide eyes “Erin is he dead?”

“No sweetie, he is not dead” you took a haggard breath “What happened?” She explained that a man looking for his daughter had come into the district, he was desperate and at the end of his rope trying to find her. He’d taken Mouse as a hostage at gunpoint and currently still had him at gunpoint.

“We’re taking a victim Julia that knew his daughter back to speak with him in hopes of talking him down. Do you want to come with me?” “Erin..” Will warned and she held up a hand “That’s one of the men she loves with a gun to his head. You don’t decide for her” you nodded so she smiled “You wear a vest and stay behind me or Voight? Got it?” “Got it”

You walked in behind Erin and Jay’s eyes widened “Why is she here?” Erin shook her head and passed you a vest as she helped Julia into a vest “You had no right to keep it from her Jay”

“Boss, she’s a civilian,” Jay argued, looking past you to Voight. You scoffed “Trauma nurse actually love” Voight nodded “She stays” 

Everyone was gearing up to go in. Jay grabbed you by the arm “I didn’t want you to worry” you glared at him “And if something had happened to him I don’t know if I could’ve forgiven you for not telling me Jay”

You followed Erin down the stairs to keep your promise to stay behind her and Voight.

You glared at the swat men spread around the lobby. They wouldn’t take Mouse into account. Jay would. Voight walked across to the office and knocked on the door “Frazier, I have someone here who knows your daughter. She wants to talk. You have my word. I’m being straight”

You cut your eyes towards Jay and saw he was in position and felt the knot in your shoulders loosen slightly. You trusted him with Mouse’s life and your own. Jay would never hurt either of you.You listened as Erin and Voight tried to talk him out, your heart thudded wildly when the curtain of the office moved and you saw Mouse with a gun to his head.

Your heart crumpled hearing  Julia talk about what she and Sara Frazier had gone through but then Mouse clocked you being there and you saw his eyes harden before he looked towards Jay. Jay gave the slightest of nods, you almost missed it. Mouse made eye contact with you and for half a second his gaze softened before he tucked down slightly, grabbed Frazier’s arm and took the gun, turning to hold it on Frazier as Swat and Jay moved in.

It didn’t even look like it took an effort. Your suspicions were confirmed when Jay asked him “What took you so long?” he cut his eyes up at you before looking back at Frazier “I believed him”

Were you angry with them both? Yes but you’d also seen those girls. You were shaking when they took Frazier out past you and reached out for Julia, pulling her into your side in an attempt to comfort her because she was sobbing. 

Jay and Mouse both stopped at the office door and looked at you. You whispered to Julia “Let me talk to my guys then how about I buy you lunch while we wait on your sister to get to Chicago?” She nodded and walked towards the front desk and Kim.

You walked over towards the two men who held your heart. They both opened their mouths but closed them when you held up one hand “We’ll talk at home. My adrenaline is through the roof at the moment and I need to get out of here before it crashes” You looked at Mouse “Help Frazier however you can” then looked at Jay “When you find these bastards make it hurt”

They both nodded so you said “I love you, both of you” then turned to head to Julia. You offered her your hand then remembered you didn’t have your car. “Jay!” he tossed his truck keys as soon as you turned. You gave him a small smile then turned back to Julia “Let’s go sweetie”

You saw Julia through leaving with her sister and even went back to the hospital to apologize to Will before going to the precinct later that evening. You had the truck so Jay and Mouse had no way home.

You parked where the rest of the unit did and headed for the back entrance. This late the two of them would be down in the tech room. You typed in Jay’s code to get into roll up and crouched to get in the door before it opened all the wall and hit the button to close it behind yourself.

When you walked around the corner into the tech room Mouse was sitting on the edge of the desk and Jay was sitting in one chair with his feet propped up on the other. “Please tell me you found her?” 

You walked over to Jay, sitting down in his lap and reaching for his beer. He nodded “She’s with her dad” you looked at Mouse “How’s he doing?” he smiled “He’s just getting charged with reckless endangerment” you didn’t ask. However he managed that didn’t matter. He’d done the right thing.

Jay slipped one hand under your scrub top “How pissed are you at us?” you shook his hand away as an answer. He chuckled lightly, moving your hair to press a kiss to your neck “Greg, I think we need to head home” Mouse laughed lightly “Yeah. She’s mad” “I’m not only mad” you whispered and they both looked at you, waiting for you to continue but you shook your head “Not here. Voight is not walking in on us arguing”

You stood off Jay’s lap then he stood up. They both were looking at you so you dropped your eyes “Let’s just go home”

You walked into the door of your shared place and knew both men were watching your every move. You dropped your jacket into the hall closet and kicked your shoes off “I’m gonna shower”

They exchanged a look so you added “Alone” you just wanted to calm down before you talked to them. “Ok love” Mouse spoke first, his hand barely touching your back. Jay’s hand ghosted on your shoulder “We’ll be right here”

After you got out of the shower you walked into the living room to find both of them had already used the guest bathroom as well. Jay’s hair was still a little spiky from the shower and Mouse’s hair curled just slightly when it was wet on the ends. They were both sitting on the couch in their sleep pants watching the game.

You twisted the ring they’d bought you on your first anniversary around your finger. “Can we talk now?” both of their eyes shot up and Jay turned the tv off. “Here?” Mouse asked and you shook your head “I wanna go to bed” They both got off the couch fast enough it was almost comical.

You turned and walked towards the bedroom, hearing them behind you. You climbed up into the king size bed, sitting cross legged in the center despite the fact that you were only wearing one of Jay’s old Henleys and a pair of Mouse’s boxers.

They both stood at the foot of the bed, staring at you like lost puppies. “I knew Will was lying when he told me nothing was wrong. That man has a shit poker face” Jay dropped his head “I was just trying to keep you calm baby” “Because you knew he had it?” you asked and he nodded “Yeah” 

“Then why not come and tell me that?” “I couldn’t leave him there with those trigger happy assholes from swat” You nodded slowly “Text? Call? Something so I’m not losing my shit on Will and Erin?”

“Baby I’m sorry” he whispered. “I love you both so fucking much. Seeing that look on Will’s face?” you took a deep breath “I felt like the floor was going out from under me…then when I heard him and Erin mention your name Mouse I thought I’d lost one of you”

You felt tears start to fall and they both moved at once, Mouse crawling up the left side of the bed and Jay crawling up the right. “I’m sorry sweetheart” Mouse cooed and you shoved him “And you! You brave, selfless, idiotic man!” He looked towards Jay “Is she gonna kiss me or hit me?” Jay shrugged “I don’t know”

“You did the right thing helping that man. He found his daughter and you helped save countless others from hell. I am so proud of you, of both of you but did you ever stop to think what would’ve happened if he had shot you?” you hiccuped and he pulled you into his arms “Baby I’ve handled worse” “What about those swat assholes? What if they shot you?”

You turned into his chest and felt Jay’s hands on your back too “Shit sweetheart, we’re sorry baby. You know we act before thinking a lot” you sniffled “You’re fucking bullheaded stubborn men who run head first into danger to save other people and I love you both with my entire heart”

“What can we do princess? Jay asked and Mouse chuckled “I think we both know what we can do” he looked down at you, pushing your hair back out of your face “You want us to make you feel better baby? Remind you we’re both right here with you?” you nodded, pressing a kiss to his chest and smiling when you felt him swallow hard “Please Greg”

He groaned lightly “Use your words baby, tell us what you need” “I want to feel both of you touching me, loving me” Jay leaned forward, pulling you into a kiss “We’ll take care of you princess. Tonight’s all about you”

Mouse turned you so instead of being against his chest you were now straddling his lap. Your hands went to his shoulders to brace yourself “I’m so sorry I scared you sweetheart” he whispered, rolling his lips against yours. You whimpered against his mouth. Greg "Mouse" Gerwitz x Reader x Jay Halstead/ Gerstead x Reader

You know your guys love you but when a case brings up bad memories and they don't turn to you? That makes you begin to doubt yourself, your relationship, everything.

You could still remember the look on your sister’s face when you told her you were deploying. The fear, the apprehension. She was afraid of you not coming home, afraid that if you made it home you wouldn’t be the same woman that left. You knew the risks that came along with the path you chose, you also knew the risks of not taking it. You had to do something with your life and that was the only path you could’ve taken at that point in your life.

When you were tasked to the 75th regiment you’d nearly questioned your commanding officer. There were men and women in the 68W that had a lot more time under their belt than you but he’d been content with your record and next thing you knew your boots were hitting the dirt in Korengal Valley.

When you reported to duty you were introduced to your unit, the men and women who you would be responsible for keeping alive under fire. Two men stood out amongst them. One with sky blue eyes, the other seafoam blue. Both of them equally gorgeous with smiles that would’ve stopped you in your tracks had you met them under different circumstances. They watched you intently from the moment you said your name and the commanding officer told the unit to be welcoming to you because “She’s gonna keep your sorry asses alive” 

It took all of a half an hour before Jay Halstead and Greg “Mouse” Gerwitz were introducing themselves to you. “Mouse huh?” you asked and he’d given you a grin that showed off a set of dimples “It’s a stupid nickname but I’m the first to admit it” you cut your eyes at Jay “How’d he get it?” he winked at you “Oh sweetheart you gotta earn that story” From that day on the three of you always seemed to find each other. 

One day you had just stepped out of the med tent to catch your breath, the scent of blood heavy in your nose. You had lost someone, you knew it was hopeless from the moment he’d been brought in. You hadn’t told him that. The letter in the pocket of your pants felt so much heavier than a folded sheet of paper. He’d pressed it into your hand and begged you to make sure his boyfriend got it. 

You took a deep breath, trying to find air that didn’t burn your lungs on the way down. “Doc, you feeling ok?” you turned at the sound of Mouse’s voice and forced a smile onto your face “How many times do I have to tell you I’m not a doctor Gerwitz?” he grinned “You seemed pretty doctorish to me” you shook your head “Where’s your shadow?” he nodded across the way and you spotted Jay talking to Anderson “We just got back in” “Nice to see I’m not having to put either of you back together” you teased and he shrugged “We try our best to stay outta your way”

“The rest of the unit in one piece?” you asked and he nodded “Yes ma’am” both him and Jay always did that. Why, you weren’t sure. “Good, less people in my tent, the better” he nodded “We’ll be back for a few days. If you don’t wanna be alone” “You asking me to spend time with you? Aww that’s adorable” you teased and saw him bite back a grin “You’re a pain in the ass at times, you know that?”

You grinned “You and Jay wouldn’t hang out with me if I wasn’t and I damn sure wouldn’t have lasted this long in the rangers” he laughed “Ain’t that the truth” Jay started your way and smirked when he saw you “If it isn’t my favorite medic. Feel like giving me a once over yet doc?” you shook your head “I’ll sew your lips shut Halstead” he grabbed over his heart “You’re killing me sweetheart, killing me”

Athena, the only other woman out of your unit walked up and shook her head “Easy boys. The only one spending nights with our medic is me” she slung her arm around your shoulders and winked at you “Isn’t that right sugar?” you grinned “Damn right” and busted out laughing at the look on Jay and Mouse’s faces.

You spent two tours in that place. With Jay and Mouse it wasn’t so bad. They were your best friends, never looked at you like you were less because you were a woman and you felt comfortable around them which said alot.

The day you knew you had to get out was hell on earth. That damn convoy still haunted your dreams. Having to pull your unit out the flames, being forced to move on from the ones you couldn’t save and simply stabilize who you could and pray a chopper got there before you lost them. Mouse and Jay were medically discharged and you took your discharge as well. You couldn’t face it anymore. 

You never would’ve thought that the years spent over there would result in you falling in love with those two rangers who were always such a pain in your ass yet here you were. 

You groaned when you tried to stretch but movement was inhibited by two sets of strong arms wrapped around your body. You slowly opened your eyes to see that Jay was curled up to your back, hands holding your hips and face pressed between your shoulders, while Mouse had his arms thrown over your stomach and his face resting on your breasts as pillows.

At least they were comfortable. You shifted, trying to figure out a way from under the mess of limbs when Jay’s hands tightened on your hips and you felt his erection pressing into your ass “Princess, it’s a little too early for you to be making sounds like that and squirming up against me like that”

You shot him a playful glare “If my boyfriends didn’t act like I was going to run away in the middle of the night maybe I could get up to go get coffee” Mouse’s lips teased across your bare chest “Well if it hadn’t taken us years to convince you to want us maybe we wouldn’t be worried”

You turned your head back towards him and he was grinning up at you from where his head was still laid on your breasts. “You two were flirts then when we got home we didn’t see each other for a while then well let’s not talk about then” he moved up to brush a gentle kiss against your lips “No let's not talk about then”  Jay slipped a hand around your neck to gently tilt your head back to him “Let’s talk about now” his lips were feather light but being in their arms were always like a fire being set inside of you. It had been that way since you finally let yourself give in that first time. 

“We’re all gonna be late for work” you reminded and Jay grinned “I set the clock back an hour so we’d have more time” you shook your head “You’re horrible” he shrugged “We love our girl, what’s horrible about that?”

You felt Mouse’s hand slip down between your thighs and when you let them fall open without thought he chuckled “Looking like you don’t care too much about being late love”

By the time you parked at med Will was already texting you asking where the hell you were at. You didn’t dignify your dear brother in law with a response and simply pocketed your phone and headed inside.

When you passed the front desk Maggie smiled “Good morning” “Mornings Mags. Where’s Halstead? He’s blowing me up like I’m not still five minutes before my shift” She looked behind you and grinned. You turned around and glared up at Will “What’s the rush?” his eyes widened “They have baby nurses from the med school here. If I didn’t have you they’d stick me with one of them” you shook your head with a laugh “Oh honey” 

You knew as much if not more than most of the doctors here but you hadn’t had the desire to get the doctor title. Registered Nurse suited you just fine, besides they knew what you could do here. Most of the time you either worked side by side with Will or Ethan. Neither of them ever questioned your call. You waved a hand “Fear not big red. Your favorite nurse is here. Let’s start the day”

He slipped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you into a side hug “I don’t know how my brother ever got lucky enough to get you” then pointed you towards his first patient’s room.

You were just sitting down in the breakroom when your phone chimed with a text from Erin Mollys tonight? Please?? You laughed lightly and texted back I’ll meet you there dear. Let the boys know their choices are either go out with me or I’m going alone

You opened your water and barely got a bite of your sandwich before two texts popped up in the group text thread between you, Jay and Mouse that read We’re coming and Baby, don’t play like that you shook your head and texted back was just giving you options geez

Ethan walked in and sat down across from you, leaning back in his seat. You cut your eyes up “You good Choi?” he nodded “Yeah, just beat” you nodded in agreement. This shift had been back to back. Your lunch break was supposed to be four hours before. You’d managed to eat a pack of the crackers Maggie kept in her desk between running tests but that had been about it. 

“You working tomorrow?” you asked and he shook his head “No, how about you?” you shook your head “No, I’m off for two days? I think.” he looked up “Our schedules sync up then” you grinned “Good, I like working with you and Will” he laughed “That’s just because we both know you’re a trauma specialist you just don’t have the title” you grinned “Exactly”

When you got home Jay and Mouse were already there. Jay was laid across the couch when you walked in and you could hear Mouse somewhere in the house. Jay grinned when you walked in “There’s the sexiest medic that ever walked” 

You shook your head “Easy ranger. Just a trauma nurse nowadays” he reached a hand out so you let him pull you to him, having to straddle his waist to keep from just falling across him. His eyes flickered across you and even in your scrubs, with your hair falling down he looked at you like you were the most gorgeous woman he ever laid eyes on, then again he’d looked at you like then when you wore ACUs.

His hands gripped your thighs gently “I love you baby” you smiled “I love you too Jay” you leaned down to steal a kiss from him and the moment your lips met you heard Mouse “Oh I go to finish the laundry and get left out”

You looked up from where you were on Jay and grinned “He got me time I walked in, sorry” Mouse shook his head “Thought we agreed a long time ago, we both got her” Jay looked up at him “Can you blame me? Look at my view?”

You shook your head and kissed Jay before climbing off of him. You walked over to Mouse and pulled him into a kiss before checking the time “I gotta shower so I can meet Erin and Kim” That was all it took for Jay to jump up off the couch and Mouse to snap to attention “Want some company?” you shook your head, that was what had taken so long finding this place, a shower big enough for three.

“Come on then. No funny business or I’ll kick you out of the shower” you warned, leading the way to the bathroom and feeling their hands teasing you on the way. “You didn’t say no funny business before the shower” Mouse teased, lips close to your ear.

You walked into Mollys between Jay and Mouse. Jay had your hand in his, his fingers curled around yours and Mouse had his fingers hooked in your belt loops. You’d teased them that you looked like a flight risk. They’d replied that they were just keeping a hand on you. 

When the music hit you along with familiar voices you looked around and spotted the rest of intelligence at the end of the bar, well minus Voight and Al. “There she is!” Erin called and you dropped Jay’s hand and pulled away from Mouse to pull her into a hug. She grinned over your shoulder at the two of them “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna keep her”

“I’m just saying, I have seen a t-shirt and some duct tape save a leg” you laughed and Adam raised an eyebrow “Did you do it?” Jay leaned up over your shoulder considering you were currently sitting halfway in his lap “Yes she did”

You cut your eyes back at him “You weren’t even there sir” he shrugged “No but Anderson told me about it” you shook your head and looked back at Adam “Point is in the moment you’d be surprised what could be useful Ruz”

Mouse walked back up with Kevin and the drinks they’d gone after. He passed you your then handed Jay his beer before brushing a kiss against your lips. You grinned then he sat down next to you. “How did you ever get stuck with these two anyways?” “Watch it Lindsay” they both warned playfully. You laughed “They were already a bonded pair, if I took one I had to take the other”

Everyone started laughing at your response but you made sure to lean back against Jay and reach out for Mouse just in case they took your teasing to heart.  “Is that the trifecta?” you heard a voice say and your eyes widened. Only one person ever called you, Jay and Mouse that.

You jumped up from Jay’s lap, He was on his feet and Mouse was too as Athena walked up to your group. She looked how you remembered. Five foot nine, honey brown hair tied up and bright amber eyes. You never did understand why the boys went for you while she was there but you were glad they did. She’d been a heaven sent amongst the testosterone during those days. More than one night had been full of laughter in your shared tent.

“Athena!” you hollered, pulling her into a hug. She squeezed you tightly, nodding to Jay and Mouse “Hey boys” Once she let you go she hugged them both. “What are you doing in Chicago? Last time we talked you were in D.C?” you asked because she was stationed at the marshal office there. She nodded “I’m in town working a case. Heard this was a good place to get a drink. Didn’t expect to find my unit here”

“Are we gonna get introduced?” Kim asked and you laughed lightly “Oh Athena this is the unit Jay works in and that Mouse is a tech expert for” you introduced them one by one. She nodded “What about you fireball?” you grinned “You know me, I’m at the hospital” “Trauma specialist?” she asked and you shook your head “Trauma nurse” “Close enough. You know more than any of those M.D.s do”

The four of you caught up a little but then she needed to join the people she’d come with so all of you traded your newest numbers before she left. You noticed Erin and Kim both cutting their eyes at her as she walked off but didn’t think anything of it until Erin whispered “Do we like her?”

You nodded “She’s good” “Are you sure. Cause if you don’t like her, we don’t” Kim whispered and you laughed, making Mouse shoot you a look. You shook your head “You don’t wanna know baby” before telling them both “She’s ok. She was in the same unit as us. The only other woman. She had my back a lot” “Ok” Erin said after a moment and Kim nodded too.

“That was insane seeing Athena again” you laughed, walking into your house. Mouse nodded “Yeah, been a while since we saw anyone out of the unit” “Yeah” Jay agreed.

You tried and failed to stifle a yawn which made them share a grin “I think we need to put her to bed” Jay laughed. “Only if you two come with me” you pouted and they both shook their heads “She’s so damn spoiled. What happened to that medic that used to threaten to sew my lips shut?” Jay asked and you grinned “I figured out I like you being able to use your lip and your tongue and other things”

He cut his eyes at Mouse “I say we make sure she gets a good night's rest. What do you think?” Mouse’s eyes were glued to you “I say that’s a damn good idea”

Two days passed and you didn’t really think too much more about Athena being in Chicago. You ended up pulling doubles at the hospital and Intelligence had just finished wrapping up a drug bust worth a quarter of a million.

You stood at the front desk, rubbing your hand across your eyes. “You good?” Will asked and you looked up at him “Aces” he grinned “I swear you act too much like you’re with my brother at times. You can admit if you’re tired or something” you shook your head “I’m fine Will, really. I need some coffee and maybe some water too then I’ll be good as new” 

He nodded “Do me a favor and add some food somewhere in that mix? I’m gonna get my ass kicked twice over if you pass out on my watch” you grinned at him “Don’t worry if they kick your ass while I’m out I’ll take care of it when I wake up. We have the same base training”

You rotated your neck in a tight circle and got ready to go back to work but your phone started ringing. You pulled it out and saw it was Erin. “Hello?” you answered and her voice was low “Can you talk?” “Yeah, why?” your stomach knotted at her tone. She took a deep breath before saying “They probably wouldn’t want me to tell you but we caught a case that I think may have triggered something for your fellas. I overheard Jay and Mouse talking about Henderson? It sounded like they were arguing and that this case had enough similarities to remind them”

Your hand flew out to the desk to steady yourself. Memories of the shape Mark had been in when he was found flew through your head, how hard you worked to stabilize him and the striking realization that all you had to offer his wife was that after all the hell he suffered he died with a friend at his side. 

You vaguely registered her calling your name twice before April touching your arm snapped you back to the present “Yeah? Um thanks Erin for letting me know. If they start arguing and cause interruptions to the case, call me?” “Of course” 

You hung up with her and looked at April who was staring at you with an unspoken question written plainly across her face “I’m ok April” she shook her head “You know I live with someone who served, right?” you offered her a smile “I promise, I’m ok” she smiled slightly “If you need someone to talk to I’m here and if you need someone who’s been there Ethan is always there for you too” “Thank you” you told her and she nodded “Of course”

She walked off so you slid your phone into your pocket. They would call if they needed you, if not you’d talk to them that night. Mark was a hard spot for all of you. His wife’s cries still haunted your dreams on some nights.

About an hour before you were getting off Jay sent a text in the thread We’re gonna grab a beer after work ok, normally they would have worded that do you want to grab a beer after work. Were they not including you? Just you two? You asked and felt your heart hit your feet when he texted back Thena is still in town so she’s gonna meet us. We won’t be long. We love you 

Was it the memories of Mark’s final moments, the ghost of his wife gripping to you begging you to say it wasn’t true or the slap in the face of knowing your guys were hurting and not seeking you out that forced the tears from your eyes? You weren’t sure but angry hot tears slipped down your face before you could stop them.

“Woah, what’s wrong and don’t you dare say nothing” Will asked and you hadn’t even realized he was standing over you. What were you supposed to tell him? Will loved you like a sister, yeah but Jay was actually his brother. How could you explain you were crying because your boyfriends wanted to get a beer with someone out of their unit? It’s not like they were being sneaky and hid it. They told you.

“Um, bad day Will” you whispered and he slipped his arms around you, pulling you into a hug. “Want me to call Jay?” “NO!” you said a little harsher than you meant to. He pulled back and looked down at you “Are you sure you’re ok?” You nodded “Yeah, just had some stuff trudged up. I just need to make another hour, I’ll be fine. Don’t worry the guys”

“If you need me, I’m here” he reminded you with a smile before kissing the top of your head “I am your favorite brother in law after all” you shook your head “Mouse is an only child” he grinned “Even more reason for me to be your favorite” 

Once he walked away you let your face fall. Maybe you were reading too much into it? That was all? You just needed to focus. You couldn’t split attention at work. Lives were at risk.

You parked next to Jay’s truck and took a deep breath. You wouldn’t push. If they wanted to talk to you, they would. God please let them talk to you. 

You grabbed your belongings and headed inside. You needed to start a load of your scrubs. You went through two pairs this shift alone and they had to be washed separately.

You walked in the door and they were sitting on the couch, watching the Blackhawks game. “Hey baby” Mouse greeted with a smile. “Hey” you replied, moving past them towards the laundry room. “You ok sweetheart?” Jay called behind you and you rolled your eyes to not bite off a comment you may later regret “I need to start a load of my scrubs. I went through two pairs this shift” 

You heard them moving as you walked into the laundry room and turned to see they were at the door “I washed them love. They’re in your dresser” Mouse told you with a smile. “Oh, thank you” you replied, dropping the dirty bag to the floor and pulling the scrubs out to pretreat.

You saw them exchange a look before Jay asked “Did we do something we don’t know about?” you didn’t look at them and just shook your head “No” “How long have we known you sweetheart? We know what that no means” Mouse pushed so you dropped the scrubs in the washer then turned to face them “Nothing is wrong, ok? I had a long day, I’m tired. You two are apparently aces so I’m gonna go shower”

You started the washer then pushed past them to get out of the room. Both of them reached out to grab you, Mouse around the waist and Jay your arm “Uh uh” “What is it baby?” 

You took a deep breath then said “Erin called me about the case. Said you two were talking about Henderson” “Oh” “Oh” 

You nodded slowly “Oh, so we don’t communicate anymore?” Jay shrugged “It’s not that big of a deal. This case, the victim..he was tortured for information” “It was really similar to Henderson” Mouse added. “Are you two ok?” you asked, looking from one to the other. You knew them. Mouse would need to talk it out when old memories were trudged up and Jay would try to bury it all unless you forced him to talk.

“Yeah, that’s why we grabbed the beer with Thena, talk with someone who was there” Jay explained and he could have punched you dead in the gut and it would have hurt less. “Someone who was there?” he realized his wording and looked to Mouse for help on backpedaling.

“Baby he didn’t mean it like that” you shook your head “Fuck it. I need to shower” you stormed past them, shrugging their hands off your body. “Alone”

You could hear Jay and Mouse both outside the door, trying to talk to you but you ignored them, turning the water on as high as you could get it and sinking to the floor of the shower. “Someone who was there” nice to know everything you went through didn’t mean a damn thing. 

You didn’t even realize you were crying until the salty tears hit your lips. You didn’t try to stifle your sobs. What were they gonna do? Go talk to Athena about it?

When you got out of the shower and dressed you opened the bathroom door to find Mouse sitting on the floor on one side of the door and Jay on the other “What are you two doing?” you asked and Mouse said “Waiting for you, we heard you crying” “I’m fine Greg” you sighed and walked past them to the bedroom.

You crawled into bed, curling up in the middle where you usually slept. They quickly disrobed and climbed into bed on either side of you. “Can we touch you?” Jay asked and you nodded. You felt them slip their arms around you and closed your eyes trying not to let his words play through your head yet again. “I love you sweetheart,” Mouse whispered. “I love you too Greg” 

“I love you princess” Jay whispered and you nodded “I love you Jay” you forced your eyes to close. You desperately needed sleep, maybe you’d feel more clear headed come tomorrow? Maybe you would be able to form calm enough thoughts to approach the whole “Someone who was there” comment without tears or screaming coming into the equation but for tonight you needed sleep.

Consider Me Gone-Part 2

Greg "Mouse" Gerwitz x Reader x Jay Halstead/Gerstead x Reader

A trauma rolls into med that nearly brings you to your limit. You need Jay and Mouse yet for the first time when you reach your hand out there's not even one there to grasp it.

Warnings: SCENE OF AN O.D.

“Please no” Cassandra begged, falling into your arms. You requested to come along on this notification and now you were regretting it but knew you had to face it “I’m so sorry Cassie” you whispered and felt her knees go out from under her. The two men with you moved to support her but you glared at them as you sank to the floor with her, wrapping your arms protectively around the other woman “He wasn’t alone. I promise you, I was there. I held his hand. I made sure he wasn’t hurting in those last moments. That’s all I could do” 

You shot up out of the bed, a fine sheet of sweat covering your body. Mouse and Jay both were on high alert, shooting up on either side of you. “Sweetheart, what is it?” Mouse asked and you shook your head “Nothing, doesn’t matter” the sting of their words the previous night was still a little too fresh to admit that while finding Mark plagued their memories, his wife’s reaction and pain plagued yours. Jay’s face fell as if he knew just exactly why you’d said nothing “Baby, talk to us”

You shook your head “I said I’m fine” you glanced at the time and saw it was only about an hour before your alarm would’ve gone off anyways. “I’m gonna grab a shower and start coffee” “I’ll start coffee” Jay offered so you nodded and slid out of the bed at the foot of it so you didn’t have to go over either one of them. 

Jay climbed out of bed after you and walked past you while you were picking through your dresser for a pair of scrubs. He placed one hand on your lower back and it took everything in you to not tense under his touch. “I love you” he spoke before kissing the side of your head. “I love you Jay” you whispered, keeping your eyes on the contents of the drawer in front of you.

You didn’t have to look to know he shot Mouse a look before leaving the room. Divide and conquer was always their route when it came to thinking one of them had done something to hurt your feelings in some way and since Jay was the one who’d actually voiced the thought, apparently Mouse was the one tasked with damage control.

You didn’t hear the bed move before you felt Mouse at your back. “Can I please put my arms around you?” he asked and you nodded. He slipped his arms around your waist, pulling you back against his chest “I’m sorry for what was said, Jay is too. It came out wrong” you nodded simply because you didn’t trust your voice to not waver at the moment.

He stood there for a moment just holding you and you wanted so bad just to forget the hurt. How humiliating it felt when they both had acted as if your time spent overseas was nothing because you weren’t an active combatant. You had the same base training as them, you weren’t exactly Desmond Doss. You believed in kill or be killed and had done whatever it took to keep your unit safe. On top of that to know that they couldn’t even turn to a man that served, it was another woman. Yeah she’d been in your unit but how could they not realize how that would make you feel?

“Greg, I’ve got to get a shower” you whispered and he pressed a kiss to your shoulder where the tank you’d worn to bed left it bare “Ok. You want some breakfast?” you shook your head “I’ll just get some coffee” he left his arms drop and you had to remind yourself to not run from the room. What the hell were you doing to yourself? You had to get in a better mindset before work.

When you got out of the shower and were dressed you headed to the kitchen and could hear the two of them talking. “You know that was a nightmare right?” “Well damn Greg I never would’ve guessed” “Since when does she not tell us about them?”

You stepped around the corner and cleared your throat. Both of their heads whipped around at the sound and they looked like kids with their hands caught in the cookie jar “Is the coffee ready?” Mouse held up your mug and you knew it was made to your taste. You walked over and took it from his hand with a small smile “Thank you”

You leaned back against the counter and took a sip before asking “How’s the case going anyways?” They exchanged a look before Jay said “Voight think’s he has a lead. Him and Al were gonna go talk to a few people they knew this morning” “Good” you replied and left it at that. Normally mornings in your house were spent talking over coffee, planning for the week ahead. Today felt like there was a space between you and them that was strangling you with every breath you took.

You dumped the rest of your coffee “I’m gonna get going” “Can we talk after work?” Jay asked and you cut your eyes at him “Sure you want to talk to me?” his shoulders sagged slightly “Princess there’s no one else on earth we’d rather talk to” you laughed humorlessly “Really?”

He ran a hand down his face “Baby, it was a freaking beer!” “A beer with another woman Jay!” you argued and he waved a hand “A woman who was in our freaking unit! Who was in the field with us! Who saw the same shit we did!” you shook your head “I was there Jay! I saw the same shit! Who the hell do you think they drug Mark back to? Who do you think had to try their fucking hardest to save him only to have to tell his wife that they couldn’t?”

Mouse stepped between you and Jay “Take a breath, both of you” you glared at him “You aren’t fucking innocent either Greg. You did the same thing! Jay is just verbal about his bullshit! Why don’t you tell me how fucking useless I am too? About how my trauma isn’t valid because I wasn’t in the field? How I WASN’T THERE TOO?”

They both flinched when you screamed but you didn’t care, hot tears were spilling down your face by that point “Ever stop to think that when Erin called to give me that heads up that it took me right back to that day too?” you looked between them and they both dropped their gaze. You nodded slowly “Of course not. You two found him, yeah and that was fucking horrific. I care enough about you two to never take away from anything you’ve endured but I am the one that he was laid on a stretcher in front of and tasked with trying to save! I am the one who had to lie and tell him he was going to be ok! I am the one who watched life leave his eyes and I am the one who held his wife when she was told her husband, the father of her twins, was not coming home. I don’t give a fuck what Athena saw. You two were drowning, ok. You come to me! ME! No one else! We’re supposed to have each other’s backs! We’ve always had each other’s backs but because she’s in town all of a sudden I’m not good enough?”

“We never once said that!” Mouse argued but a phone chiming interrupted all of you. You glanced towards the counter to see Jay’s phone lit up. You knew both of their passwords like they knew yours so you walked over to pick it up and saw it had Athena’s name on it. You didn’t even look at the text. You picked it up and threw it at Jay’s chest. 

“You two don’t even care that I’m here in front of you do you? Just because she was in the field. Did she put you two back together? Did she let herself jump so far down into that darkness just to help you two dig yourselves back up? I did! I needed you two to talk to me last night because then that meant you trusted me with the hell in your head. You didn’t. You talked to her. You chose her. Sometimes what you don’t say comes through so much clearer than what you do” 

You spun on your heel to walk out the room but both of them caught you, trying to put their arms around you. You shoved them off “No! Fuck you! You don’t get to touch me!” They both put their hands up defensively. You hadn’t realized your hands were shaking until you raised them to point one at each of them “I love both of you with my entire fucking heart but you need to decide what it is you want”

You stormed out of the room, stopping just long enough to grab your keys and phone before slamming the door behind yourself.

You sat in your car with your head leaned back against the seat, trying your best to stop the damn tears. Your phone hadn’t stopped ringing since you left home. Jay and Mouse were taking turns calling and texting. When they got to work they would probably resort to either using landlines or stealing the unit’s phones.

You took a deep breath and clicked on the group text thread. M:Sweetheart please answer your phone   J:Baby just talk to us  M:You know we would never want anyone but you  J:No one would ever compare to you   M:We love you more than anything   J:Please just answer your phone

You texted back I have to go into the hospital now. I can’t have my head on this when people are hurt or sick in front of me. You both know what you mean to me. I don’t know what that text said and I don’t want to know. I do need to know where I stand by the time my shift ends

With that you locked your phone and slid it into your pocket, checked to see just how horrible you looked then climbed out of your car. 

Two car wrecks, a delivery done in the ed, a GSW and three people with the flu covered your first five hours of your shift. You still weren’t in the best mind set but you were doing what you did best, pushing it to the side to help the people in front of you. That was how you maintained your balance, how you didn’t lose yourself. That was something you’d found long ago.

You were in the breakroom when Will came in and you dropped your gaze, pulling out your phone and hoping he hadn’t noticed you weren’t quite aces. “There’s my favorite sister in law” you cut your eyes up with a small smile “Hey Will” he sat down across from you “Are you ok?”

You nodded slowly “Yup, can not think of a single reason why I wouldn’t be” he stared at you for a moment before raising an eyebrow “I’m not the brother you’re in a relationship with but I have known you for quite a while. I love you, you’re like a sister to me.If something is wrong, even if it's something my brother or Mouse did you can talk to me” You nodded “I know. I promise, I’m ok Will. I had a bad night, dreams of delivering bad news kept haunting me” 

“Why did you do that? It wasn’t your job” he asked and you shrugged “I had letters, messages or just to let them know I held the person they loved so they wouldn’t be alone. I would want to know Jay or Mouse wasn’t alone” he smiled “You’re an extraordinary woman. Don’t know how the hell my brother and Mouse of all people got you”

You gave him a small smile “They looked cute in their ACUs” he shook his head with a laugh “There she is” then tapped on the table “I’ll be around if you need me. Just holler and I’ll come running sis” “Thanks Will”

You stepped out of the break room and heard Ethan call your name “We got an OD in trauma one Y/N! I need you”  you feel in step with him, running around the main desk and into the trauma room. You heard April calling out stats and saw Will administering another round of Narcan but when you glanced at the body on the bed, it felt like their voices were underwater. You could hear them but they were muffled. Your hands felt like they were tingling and your head felt like it may very well slip off your body. That jacket, that black jacket.

You hadn’t been back in Chicago but maybe a month. You just managed to rent a new place. It was a little one bedroom but it was in an ok neighboor and the rent didn’t kill you. You’d just gotten off back to back shifts and was curled up under three blankets from the harsh winter night. The sound of your phone blaring woke you up.You scrambled for it and squinted against the harsh glare before bringing it to your ear “Halstead I swear to christ..”

Before you could finish the threat he cut you off “I had a missed call from Mouse about an hour ago. He left a voicemail, he was slurring Y/N and now he isn’t answering” you were out of the bed before he finished talking “Come pick me up”

You followed Jay to the apartment he said was Mouse’s. He hadn’t let you out of his sight and honestly in this neighborhood? You were grateful. “How the hell are we gonna get in?” you asked and he cut his eyes up at a window. You shrugged and slung your med bag across your chest before pulling his knife out of his pocket “Give me a boost?”

He put his hands around your hips and hoisted you up. It didn’t take you long to pop the flimsy lock on the window and shimmy inside. “Y/N!” he called and you looked back out. He handed you a flashlight and his gun. “What do I need that for?” he shrugged “We don’t know what you’re going into. If it’s bad yell and I’ll kick the door in”

You turned the light on and readied the gun before stepping away from the window. Your heart shattered the moment you saw the interior of the apartment. There was no furniture,at all. A single mattress was on the floor and it felt colder inside than it did outside.

You cleared room by room and was starting to think maybe Greg had just drunk dialed Jay when you pushed open the bathroom door. “JAY!” you screamed. 

Mouse lay in the middle of the bathroom floor, a couple pill bottles lay in the sink and it didn’t look like he was breathing. You slid to your knees,throwing your med bag off onto the floor.  You rolled him over onto his side, the black jacket he wore was icy to the touch, when you noticed how grey his lips looked tears sprung to your eyes “No no no” you heard the front door bounce off the wall from the force of Jay kicking it in.

You reached for Mouse’s pulse and felt a weak, thready one. “CALL AN AMBULANCE JAY! HE’S OVERDOSED!” you screamed. You dug into your bag, shaking fingers wrapping around the narcan “Greg please don’t fucking do this to me” you whispered before bringing the medicine up to his nose and administering it. You turned him for rescue breaths, praying you hadn’t been too late. Jay ran into the room, still on the phone with the dispatcher “My-my friend is a trained medic”

You didn’t try to listen, your goal was getting to see those sky blue eyes you loved looking up at you again. “Please Greg” you whispered, administering the second dose after the time passed and was rewarded by a harsh gasp of air being forced into his lungs. “Tell them he’s breathing” you sobbed, turning him on his side again in case he puked. His eyes cracked open “Y/N?” you nodded, tears flowing down your face “Hey” “Don’t cry baby” he whispered weakly and you shook your head “Then stay awake till the ambulance gets here ok?”

“Y/N! Y/N!” you hadn’t realized you froze or that everyone in the room had realized it. Ethan, Will and April had gotten the patient stabilized but were now staring at you like they were worried you may be next “I’m sorry” you whispered and ran out of the room. 

Ethan found you in the break room, sitting on the floor with your head between your knees shaking. He crouched in front of you, close but not touching “Hey, can I touch you or no?” you shook your head and he smiled slightly “Ok. Can I get April or Maggie?” you nodded and he smiled “Stay here soldier. I’m gonna get you help. I won’t leave your side for long, I promise”

He came back a few moments later with April in tow. She climbed down next to you and slowly put her arm around you “Match my breathing honey”. You listened to her breaths and were able to slow yours after a few minutes while she kept two fingers on your pulse to check it. 

Once you were able to actually focus your eyes on them Ethan sat cross legged in front of you “Talk to me” you swallowed hard “That jacket the kid had” he nodded and you met his eyes “Greg had one just like it the night he overdosed and I thought we lost him” He shared a look with April and she nodded “I’m gonna go back to the floor sweetie. If you need me just send Ethan” you nodded “Thank you”

Once she left he looked back at you “When did it happen?” you swallowed hard “When we got back we all kind of went our own ways for a while. Jay, he sought comfort in bodies. Any bed he could warm he did. I visited families of the men I lost, delivering messages then I went to stay with my sister for a while, I barely slept or ate during that time. If it wasn’t eighty proof I didn’t want it and Greg well he found his own way to numb the pain” 

“How’d you get out of it?” he asked and you smiled slightly “Greg pulled Jay out of a hole. He was in bad shape. He’d started drinking bad, doing stuff that well he shouldn’t have been involved with. Greg got him home to Chicago. Those two being back here was like a magnet to pull my ass back” “What happened when Greg overdosed?” he asked so you recounted that night “He was so thin Ethan. I mean Greg has always had a slimmer frame but he’s always been lean muscle. We’re talking about a man that could toss me over his shoulder and laugh about it. That night, I could move him by myself with no issue. His lips were grey…it took two rounds of Narcan”

“I didn’t know” he offered and you nodded “I don’t think it would’ve hit that bad had intelligence not had just caught a case that trudged up memories of how we lost a man too. I was the medic that couldn’t save him..they don’t get that pain” he smiled slightly and nudged your knee “Lucky for you someone you know does. Any time anything like that hits you, call me. April won’t care. She loves you and wouldn’t want you to have to face it alone”

“You don’t know how much that means” you whispered and he nodded. “Feel like facing the outside world or wanna sit in here a while longer?” you shook your head “We’ve faced worse right?” he smiled “There’s that medic who sends em running”

You followed Al up the stairs after he scanned his palm. You could hear everyone’s voice drifting downstairs and smiled when you heard Erin and Kim laughing. You’d gotten close with the unit over time. They were your friends, hell your family. 

You made it to the bullpen and started passing out cups. Voight smiled “You’re an angel sweetheart” you shook your head “No one likes a liar now Hank” and everyone cracked up. You were about to ask where Jay and Mouse were when you heard their voices coming from the back hallway. You turned towards the door with a smile that quickly fell when you realized they weren’t alone. Athena was with them. “What the fuck” you and Erin both spoke in tandem.

All three heads turned towards your voice and Athena had the nerve to smile “Fireball” you grabbed the cups of coffee and threw them at Jay and Mouse “I’m done” you didn’t try to stop yourself from running that time. You ran down the stairs, hearing Erin’s raised voice along with Jay and Mouse’s followed by Voight yelling for everyone to shut up.

When you got to the lobby you slowed to a fast walk and nodded to Trudy but the moment you hit the door you ran for your car, collapsing into the driver’s seat.

You moved through the house with your duffle bag shoving everything you came across that belonged to you in it. Thank god the United States made sure to supply you with a bag big enough to pack your life in.

She passed you both and watched you for a moment. “Are you ok?” you shook your head “Not really but hell I’ve faced worse, right?” “Are you going to go to that meeting with Ethan?”  she asked so you nodded “I told him I would start them tonight”

You took the top off the pen and stared at the paper. You could do this. You just had to let yourself get numb enough to the point you wouldn’t cry. You knew how to do that. Hell you hadn’t slept in days, the nightmares were back in fullforce. You were doing your best to not wake Maggie up from them.  You knew what was happening, you were standing on that ledge again. All of this was pushing you towards it with no one to help you find your way back this go around. It was up to you to do it yourself.

You glanced down at the paper before finally starting to write. It took your entire break before you were done. You thanked April and asked her to tell Ethan you would meet him around seven before heading in search of Will.

It wasn’t hard to spot him. “Halstead” you called out and he turned with a smile that quickly fell “What’s wrong?” you shoved the letter and ring into his hand “Can you take this to Jay and Mouse for me?” he looked at the ring then back at you “What did they do?” you shook your head “It doesn’t matter. Just take it to them, please?” he stared at you for a long breath before nodding “Whatever it was, whatever happened. I’m not on Jay’s side. I don’t care. You have saved them both time and again. Please don’t cut me out of your life” you smiled slightly “Wouldn’t dream of it red. Just deliver that for me if you will. I’m helping Crocket today so I gotta go” he nodded slowly “Ok”

He stared down at the ring then slipped it into his pocket along with the letter.

“Why is Will coming by?” Mouse asked Jay who shrugged “I don’t know. You heard both sides of the call considering we were in the truck”

A knock on the door got both of their attention. “COME ON IN WILL” Jay hollered and it wasn’t but a few second before Will popped his head around the corner into the kitchen where they both stood. “Hey Jay, Mouse”

“Hey Will” Mouse greeted but Jay shook his head “Why did you need to come by as soon as we all got off?” Will motioned towards the table in the corner “Maybe we should sit?” “Will what is it?” Mouse asked and Will looked from one of them to the other “Just sit down. Both of you”

They both sat down so Will reached into his scrub pocket and pulled out the letter and your ring and sat them both on the table in front of them. Jay picked up your ring and turned it over in his hand “Why do you have this?” “She gave it to me to bring to you two along with that letter” Mouse looked from Will to Jay before picking up the letter. He cleared his throat before he began reading

Hell I don’t even know if I should call you two that any more but it felt weird to address this any other way. I knew from the moment I laid eyes on the two of you that I was done. There was no way I wasn’t going to fall in love with the two idiots who made that place a little easier to endure. You became my best friends without even trying. Mouse had tears in his eyes by the time he got through reading and Jay was clenching your ring hard enough it had cut into the palm of his hand. “Yeah Jay, really looks like she just needs to cool down” Mouse stood up fast enough his chair clattered to the ground.

“What happened after she left work the other day?” Will asked and Jay wiped his free hand down his face “She came to the precinct. Athena was there. She got the wrong idea” Will nodded slowly “She didn’t tell you what happened that day at work?” 

Mouse froze, “What? The bad case?” Will shook his head “You two alienated the shit out of her if she felt like she couldn’t tell you that she had a full blown panic attack at work because we had an OD come in and the guy had a jacket that was just like the one you owned Mouse”

Jay and Mouse’s eyes met. That was why you came to the precinct. You needed them. You were in pain and needed them. You needed them and Athena was there. You’d assumed the worst because why wouldn’t you. “She really left us hasn’t she?” Jay whispered and Will nodded “Not to be unsympathetic but was the empty house not clue enough?”

Jay glared at his brother “I thought she just needed to calm down. You know how her temper is” Will shook his head “Little brother this isn’t temper. This is pain” “What do we do?” Mouse asked and Will shrugged “I don’t know but I’m not hurting her further to try to help you two. I’m sorry”

“JAY, MOUSE!” they didn’t know what was worse. The fact that Erin was pissed again or that she had Athena with her and she looked pissed too. Erin waved a hand forward as if she was the model on a game show awarding a prize “The floor is yours” 

Athena looked from one to the other “What the absolute fuck is wrong with both of you? She saw worse than we did! She personally saved my life! And both of yours! That girl is like a fucking sister to me! She was everything when we were over there and you let her think I had anything to do with her broken heart for the last week?”

. “Thena..” Jay tried and she shook her head “Do not dare Thena me Halstead. She is hurting and you two caused it. The men who swore to love her, to protect her and take care of her when she couldn’t take care of herself. The only reason I don’t kick both of your asses here and now is because you need to be in shape to grovel on your hands and fucking knees to her!”

Voight stepped out of his office “What the hell is going on out here?” Al nodded towards Jay and Mouse “Those two” then pointed to Athena and Erin “Pissed those two off” Voight nodded “Boys,go downstairs until you’re called” Mouse and Jay didn’t try to argue. They made a beeline for the stairs.

He cut his eyes at Athena and Erin. Athena ducked her head “I apologize for acting like that in your house Voight” “No problem. I get it” she nodded then spun around and looked at Erin “Will you please help me talk to her?” Erin nodded “I’ll take you to med” 

You were sitting on the couch in the lounge, you just needed a breather for a second. Here lately everything was getting next to you. It had been a while since it was this bad.

You leaned your head back and had just closed your eyes when you heard the door open. You looked up and smiled when you saw Ethan but then you jumped to your feet when you saw Erin and Athena walk in behind him. “You fucking bitch” you dove for her but Ethan caught you, both arms wrapping around your waist and a grunt escaping him from your struggles “Erin talk fast”

Erin slid between you and Athena “Babe! Why would I be here if she did what you think!” you slowed your struggles and looked from her to Athena. “What?” Athena gave you a small smile “I get it honey, I do. I don’t blame you one bit for hating me for thinking I’d do but you’re my sister. You saved my life over there in more than one way. I’d never do that to you”

You’d stopped struggling all together by then and Ethan cut his eyes at you “Ya good? Can I let you go?” you nodded and he released you. You heard your phone chime and half expected another spam from the guys but no this was from Adam. You glanced at Erin then clicked the message. It was a video of Athena. She had Jay and Mouse backed against a wall in the bullpen yelling at them about hurting you. 

You looked at her “Thena?” She smiled “I’d kill for you fireball. You forgetting that I know how you’ve always felt about them? I would’ve hurt you for anything” Ethan nodded to Erin “I’m leaving now that she’s not swinging” Erin smiled “Thanks Ethan”

You felt tears hit your eyes “Honey, what is it?” Erin asked and you shrugged “I don’t know. I’m happy that the woman who was my lifeline didn’t hurt me but that still leaves me with the fact that the men who are my everything, I’m nothing to”

Athena pulled you into a hug “Aww honey. I don’t think it’s that. They’re idiots” you shook your head “If I’m not the most important thing to them when they’re the most important thing to me, why should I bother?”

Erin joined the hug and whispered “You’re the most important thing to us” and you laughed wetly “Thank you Lindsay”

You were exhausted mentally and physically. Maggie had somewhere to go after work but she’d given you her spare key.  You parked and grabbed your stuff and headed for her apartment. When you turned the final corner you stopped dead in your tracks because sitting on one side of the door was Mouse and the other side was Jay.

How did they figure out where you were staying? You knew no one spilled..”You son of a bitch. You tracked my location the past few days to figure out where I’ve been staying” you spoke and both of their heads flew up.

Mouse smiled slightly “I’d say I’m sorry but I’m not.We had to find you sweetheart” you shook your head “Go home Greg. Jay go home” you walked past them and started to unlock the door. You felt them both stand but knew neither of them would touch you without your permission and you were not giving it.

“Please talk to us” Jay whispered and you shook your head, spinning to face him “Like you talked to me? Why do you want to be here for me now?” “We love you sweetheart” Mouse offered and you shook your head, glancing down to see they still had their rings on “Unless those are just for each other you need to take them off” 

“Please don’t say that” Jay pleaded and you shook your head, willing no tears to fall. “Let me ask you one thing” you cut your eyes at Mouse  “Both of you” they nodded so you turned to face them completely “It was Athena this time. Someone who knew me, loved me. What if it would’ve been Abigail? She was a ranger, active combatant and would’ve done anything in her power to break us apart. Tried to when she hit Chicago. What if she would’ve wanted to get a beer?”

“We wouldn’t have went with her” Jay defended and you shrugged “How can I trust that when your only qualification is active combat. Cause god knows my record isn’t good enough to count. My trauma isn’t valid. My nightmares aren’t hell” “You’re having nightmares again?” Mouse asked quietly and you shook your head “Doesn’t matter. Go home. Forget about me” “Never” they spoke in unison and you sighed “You will eventually” and walked inside, closing the door behind yourself.

Mouse and Jay sat there, hoping you’d come out. Yell at them or something to show you hadn’t given up.  They heard footsteps and expected Maggie when they looked up but Ethan stood not far from them “What the hell are you two doing here?” he asked and they both stood up “Could ask you the same thing” Mouse said and Jay added “Don’t you have a girlfriend?”

Ethan laughed “You two are fucking hilarious. I’m here because I actually give a damn about your girlfriend. Someone had to have her back and you two damn sure didn’t. We’re going to a support group for combat medics dealing with ptsd. She asked me to help her, I’m doing so. I know what she’s facing and I refuse to let her face it alone” 

Both of them felt their hearts hit their feet because Ethan was right. They hadn’t helped you in your fight. You were there for them always, pulling them out of that darkness, saving them daily and when you needed them just to talk to you and acknowledge your pain they hadn’t done that. “How do we fix this?” Jay asked quietly and Ethan shrugged “I don’t know what to tell you two. She’s a strong woman but she needs help every now and then. If you’re gonna be the men she needs, dig your heels in and prove it. If you’re not, step aside and let her go”

 

You were curled up on the couch watching TV when Maggie came in. “Are you aware of the fact that Jay and Mouse are on the porch?” you grimaced slightly “I am so sorry. I told them to go home over an hour ago” she gave you a small smile “It’s ok sweetie. Not like those two are rude or anything. Hell I’d probably be doing stupid stuff too if I realized I lost a woman like you”

“They still should’ve left before you got home” you stood up and walked to the door. When you opened it they turned and their eyes in the low porch light made your heart skip “Sweetheart?” Mouse asked as Jay spoke your name. “Please go home” you pleaded. “Will you talk to us” you sighed “If you go home I’ll consider it”

Your boys don't get jealous over each other. They know they both own your heart equally but when a night out results in another man trying to hit on you they feel the need to remind themselves that you're theirs.

You felt Mouse’s hand on your lower back as you walked into Mollys between him and Jay. You cut your eyes at him and he gave you a smile that made your heart flip “You know these jeans and that low cut of a top are gonna get us in trouble tonight, don’t you?” You offered him an innocent smile “Gerwitz I have no idea what you’re talking about. You two said we were gonna go out with the rest of the unit to grab a few drinks. I dressed comfortably and cute”

Jay turned once the two of you were inside and stepped close enough to you his voice was barely above a whisper but sent a shiver down your spine “Let one of these asshole think they can put their hand on you and you’ll see” you swallowed hard but managed to keep your face neutral to look between your boyfriends “Since when can I not wear what I want?”

Mouse laughed “Oh baby, believe us when we say that you can wear whatever the hell you want. We know we can fight” you shook your head and took Jay’s offered hand before reaching back for Mouse’s. 

Kelly called out a greeting when he spotted the three of you, so did Stella. Fifty one along with the twenty first knew that the three of you were a package deal and surprisingly enough no one had barely blinked an eye. Herrman had simply asked just how big of a bed you owned. 

When the three of you made it to the booths that intelligence had staked a claim to Kim grinned when she saw you “Y/N!” you let go of both Mouse and Jay to pull her into a hug then hugged Hailey as well. Jay kissed the side of your head “You want your usual baby?” you nodded “Yes please”  

He headed to the bar with Adam and Kevin in tow. He did that on purpose. The men out of the bunch always made sure at least one was left with the women when you all went out as a group because in Jay’s words “You three are capable but like it or not one of us does dissuade assholes” 

Mouse cut his eyes at you when you slid into the booth between Kim and Hailey “Am I not sitting with you?” Kim waved a hand at him “You’ll be ok for a little while. You have eyes on her” Kim loved to tease him and Jay about how protective they were, even though when it was just the two of you she always told you how adorable she thought it was. He shook his head but you saw the small smirk pulling at his lips as he sat on Hailey’s other side.

When Jay came back he raised an eyebrow at the fact that you weren’t sitting next to Mouse. Hailey pointed her finger at him “Do not start too” he held up his hands defensively “Easy partner. I was just making sure I didn’t have to sleep between an argument tonight, that was all” and everyone around the table started laughing.

You and Hailey somehow managed to convince Jay and Mouse that you, her and Kim would be fine if the guys wanted to play pool. “C’mon loves, you’re in yelling distance. Kelly is at the bar, Cruz is two tables over” you told them and they shared a look “One game”

You watched them walk off and Kim laughed lightly “I can barely deal with Adam some days without wanting to choke him,how do you handle two? No offense you know I love Jay and Mouse” you laughed “None taken, we have a code around the house for when someone needs alone time. The other two have to respect it”

Hailey nodded “Makes sense” Kim shook her head “You three have a smoother relationship then anyone else I know” you smiled proudly, looking over at the pool table where Jay and Mouse were racking up “Believe me it took some adjusting to get here” 

You were laughing at a story Kim was telling you about Adam and Kevin attempting to make her niece a birthday cake and mixing up baking soda with baking powder. “Oh those sweet sweet idiots”  you weren’t really paying attention to anyone approaching the table for the simple fact Mollys was normally a place where you worked with or knew most of the crowd.

Kim looked past your head and her eyes widened right before you heard a throat clear. Your head whipped towards the sound because for one it was rude to clear your throat instead of verbally saying excuse me and for two anyone you knew would have simply called either of your names.

A man stood next to the table. He wore a fitted suit that screamed lawyer and the expensive watch and cologne he wore matched it perfectly. He wasn’t unattractive but compared to the men you shared your life with? He was sort of laughable. You seriously hoped he was shooting his shot at Kim or Hailey. 

When his eyes locked onto you Kim groaned under her breath and Hailey chuckled “This is gonna get good” you took a deep breath as he said “I noticed you’re just sitting with your girlfriends, can I buy you a drink?” you smiled “No thanks, I’m spoken for”

God bless his heart he didn’t take the hint. He tried to place his hand on top of yours but you quickly snatched it away “A beautiful woman like you is spoken for but your man left you alone? Doesn’t seem like much of a man to me?”

“Oh shit” Adam muttered which got Jay’s attention. He looked up and followed his line of sight and what he saw made his blood boil. “Greg” he didn’t even get Mouse out at the moment. Some sleazy ass guy attempting to put his hand on you.

“I’ll fucking kill him” Mouse growled, throwing the pool cue onto the table. “Not if I kill him first,” Jay added. Both men moved across the bar, the regulars quickly catching onto the scene and realizing what was happening.

“Look buddy” you tried but before you could get anything more out you spotted your boyfriends and boy did they look pissed. Jay grabbed him by the shoulder and spun him around “Did you really just try to put your hand on our girl?”

The guy looked between Jay and Mouse “Your girl?” and a smirk started to form on his face. “Oh god” you groaned, sliding out of the booth to get between your boyfriends and the guy who really didn’t deserve to get his jaw broken in four places just because he was sleazy. “Loves, he didn’t touch me” 

“Baby, move” Mouse told you, his voice level which you knew was worse. You sighed and stepped to the side. Jay threw a hard right, catching the guy across the jaw then Mouse bought his knee up into the guy’s gut. When he hit the floor Jay crouched down over him “Look buddy, I know for a fact she told you no more than once. Take the fact that we didn’t break anything as a win”

You knew Herrman and Stella would take their side so that was no issue when the bouncer headed your way. Jay gave him a nod and grabbed your hand before telling the rest of the unit the three of you were headed him.

You could feel every eye on you as you moved through the bar but you couldn’t think about anything but the heat coming off the man in front of you and the one behind you. When you got outside the cool night air hit your face and Jay passed your hand over to Mouse when you got to his truck. When he unlocked it Mouse opened the passenger side door and motioned for you to get in. You saw that Jay had moved the console up so you slid in next to Jay and felt Mouse’s thigh hit yours.

Not a single word was spoken on the drive home but Mouse’s left hand kept a deathly grip on your right thigh while Jay’s right hand had to have left marks on your left thigh. 

When Jay pulled into the driveway and killed the engine you swallowed hard. They could not possibly be mad at you for some asshole. That would be like if you got pissed at them every time a woman checked one of them out, you’d never not be pissed.  Jay looked over your head at Mouse and you weren’t sure what was passed in that look but Mouse opened the passenger side door and offered you his hand to get out.

You slid out of the truck and headed for the front door, hearing their boots behind you as you dug your keys out of your pocket. You unlocked the door and stepped inside, they followed you in, still silent as you hung up your jacket then locked the door back. 

They both hung up their jackets and you sighed, done with the silent treatment and headed for the bedroom. You planned to just grab some clothes and sleep on the couch if need be.

You didn’t even hear them come in the room behind you so when Jay slipped his arms around your waist, pulling you back against his chest a little gasp of surprise left you.
