On Board and On Brand (a Next Door Boy tale)
Tumblr media
You might have heard of the Next Door Boy agency and its services. Everyone lately had been on board with the promise of a new body, but have you heard of the recent scandal with the social media influencers?
The three men you see above are not who they say they are. (Expectedly on brand with Next Door Boy’s services.) The one on the left is a 40something bartender from Provo, Utah. An ex-Mormon who abandoned his wife and kids for the body of a snowboarder turning tricks in hotel rooms. The one on the right is a geriatric who served in Vietnam. A former 70s hippie and veteran now doing Jagger shots in a jacuzzi with his groupies. The one in the center, surprisingly, is a teen who immigrated from Mexico. He comes from wealth and orchestrated this scheme using his parents' money.
Santiago turned 18 this past year and had recruited the two former adults for a plan he had in mind. While it isn't clear why those two specifically, it is determined they met on an online forum prior to Santiago's scheme. He proposed that he would have them placed in bodies of attractive, athletic young men in order to gain sponsorships from the traveling and sports industries with the gay demographic as their target.
So what happens when you put the minds of older men into young bodies? Absolute horny mayhem. The ex-Mormon, Joseph, was caught blowing guys for money and sometimes just for free. The body of the ex-semipro snowboarder is paraded around the world shirtless and wearing zero underwear. This has naturally caused an outcry from the former-snowboarder who wants his body back.
The hippie, Leonard, had zero inhibitions on strutting in the nude. Having been a nudist in his prior body, Leonard saw no reason to change this mindset. He developed a group of fans who bring the party to him. He's often doing shots with and plowing his college fanbase. The body of the ex-college basketball star now filmed and posted on porn sites strains the relationship between the former college athlete and his parents.
As for Santiago, still retaining his wealth in his new body, happily flaunts his chiseled body and charming smile. He has legally changed his name to Alex and began an open relationship. He remarks that he's finally fitting in with people he always wanted to be a part of. "It feels nice to be an American," he stated after a photoshoot. With his new fame due to his fitness sponsorships, he is considering breaking from the two friends in order to keep his good name intact. On brand with his physical fitness, Alex is launching his new health supplements later this year and has started a training regime for the upcoming sports season.
What of the former bodies? Both previous bodies of Joseph and Leonard (names withheld) are pursing action against the two for violation of conditions set during body transfer, namely the use of substances and illicit sexual acts. The outcome, while not yet determined, will entail the returning of the bodies and financial compensation. Next Door Boy has refused to make a statement for what could be abuse of their services, but usage of their services has increased since this story made headlines.
No action has been taken by the former body of Santiago, who, while seeing the success Alex has, decided to remain living as the Mexican youth until the end of the services. He mentioned Alex approached him about a more permanent condition, and Santiago wasn't opposed to this idea as he reported to me on board his million-dollar yacht.

Takes joke post too seriously and gets too irritated about it
Seriously tho the idea that anything above 25 is geriatric is something I think about regularly and resent a lot
I very much believe that it is a mindset that will only tear people down in many different ways and I've only seen it become more widespread over time

I’ve thought Coney Island reveals a lot about their relationship. I think he was wanting her to give up her career and I think she felt really unsure about that. She couldn’t just make him her centrefold and man am I happy she didn’t!
i don’t think he wanted her fully give up her career, but i do think he was hoping that hers would slow down. the whole geriatric pop star mindset forced upon women and how clearly she thought so too in lover era, and he thought he would grow as an actor (re: the thing about “turns” from the other day), but ofc the pandemic halted stuff for him and taylor somehow managed to get bigger, and he talked about career anxiety. cwf also kinda faded and had mixed reviews. and taylor literally was nowhere to be seen. so yeah.

why do people feel that cc is gonna get comfortable with the middy overnight? coming off senior year where she also didnt take/get any. she wanted her floater back so she got it during the break. doesnt mean she has this middy first mindset now. i guess i understand why people are saying they want her to take over when her teammates arent shooting the ball well. be a little selfish, not “disappear in the 4th” fine i get that. but in the whole 3 quarters i feel like her teammates were shooting well so she was feeding who was hot, it makes sense to me that shes not gonna give up on her teammates here. same thing people were saying at the beginning of the season like hello how was she gonna get her teammates to trust her if ms superstar ms new to the league goes fuck it when they missed every time, shes gonna keep passing - getting her teammates involved. which def helped her teammates and coaches buy into her. so now she has developed a little bit of a pass first mindset. plus with the fact that she hadnt been shooting well, prob in her head about it, i wouldnt be surprised. last night she passed up an open middy, she didnt notice, hesitant to shoot in the 4th, big whoop. she’ll get better and shes gonna have her time eventually where she feels like she can take over and its fine. i cant imagine where she takes more shots and more shots in the 4th while not in rhythm, not hot, bc her teammates arent shooting. maybe ppl just mean they want a balance of it, like at least she tried. idk (also ppl saying that oh she doesnt wanna be blamed for losses so she disappears in the 4th, okay dumb, but ms offensive load at iowa, blamed for losses at iowa, if thats the reason shes in her head about it, cant say that i care. seems like a coaching issue, she’ll get better )
i didn’t read the entire thing bc i have a headache but during that 4th quarter cc made all the right basketball plays except for that middy she gave up. so i’m not going to crucify her for that (now that i’m more level headed).
kelsey was literally chucking up shots and left us with like 9 straight possessions without scoring. and during the 4th quarter you can see caitlin asking for the ball but they refuse to swing it back to her. it’s like watching the early season fever.
so when caitlin gave up the ball late in the 4th when aliyah offered it i’m convinced it’s because she’s pissed af. she even mentioned in the postgame presser that the team’s offense in the 2nd half was stagnant and bad.
i do want to see her be more selfish and say fuck you to the entire roster and just call her own number. but she’s not like that and if she misses that’s on her. she’ll always want to do the right play that will guarantee them the win.
i need a coaching staff that will challenge her to take over late. that will put her in the position to succeed at that. because they never run her plays. and i’m sure christie sides dgaf that caitlin’s being passive. she keeps using cait as a decoy in her late game plays and it pisses me the fuck off. i hate this team rn man. i still want them to get rid if the geriatric gm and braindead coach. it’s getting fucking annoying

I keep SEEING this fucking idea circle of how the US got where we are with this fucking election cycle bullshit of Democrats saying "I'm the only option to defeat Republicans!" And then immediately becoming the "boohoo I can't the Republicans stop me!" Even though Republicans push forward whatever the fuck they want despite the outcry of disdain and it all comes down to this.
It's capitalism. That's why it's no war but class war. He "can't" stop Republicans because his business interests that get him elected don't let him.
He's ceded so much ground just like every Democrat before him that we exist in a christo-fascist state on the brink of total authoritarianism dictatorship that's a complete all hail to any business interest that'll line a pocket because it's all a capitalist shill game.
And NOW we're at a point where I'm angry people won't vote because Biden is basically the only hopeful option at this time because 3rd party candidates are so benign in the grand scheme they basically need to spend 4 years campaigning even for the smallest possible position to make a name for themselves and they're too cowardly STILL to dedicate to saying actual centrist/leftist ideology because they ALSO need the money from big corps to even be able to MANAGE the kind of campaign a presidential run gets them.
Our best options is to vote in the primaries, get as much of a foothold for justice democrats as we possibly can and pray they'll pretend to make laws for the common people as opposed to the corps that actually pay for their campaign and their bills.
However on the anger of not voting thing, how can I even be MAD?! Like the guy is advocating openly for a genocide that I get a front row seat to every single day. Every drop of Palestinian blood lies on his geriatric war criminal hands. The only thing I can think to even say is the trolley problem where we HAVE to make the choice to elect him because our other option is fucking Project 2025 which is literally just full blown facism eroding any semblance of a democracy. Displayed clearly by this meme I've been sharing consistently because it's literally a fucking fact of my existence as a trans queer in a purple state that'll probably become a "Front Line State" in any coming fucking conflict.
Tumblr media
And yes it IS an incredibly privileged mindset to think we DONT need to utilize any and every tool to eliminate fascism in any and every way. Even if it just delays the inevitable. But it's STILL demoralizing every single day where they feed on chisling away at the very soul inside of you until you're to bruised and depressed to even groan in agony.
And at the end of it, it may not even MATTER if we vote. The fucking dictator cheetoh puff has these deranged facists in positions of power so that even IF he loses he's going to do his damnedest to completely overthrow the fucking government anyways.
So even IF you TRY to think of this from a trolley problem of "well we can kill the fewest and prevent direct genocide in our own nation as we advocate further forward for change" it all may be totally meaningless and end up in total armed conflict anyways!
Even on a local scale because he's got these fucking people deranged and at arms thinking they're all the second coming of Christ. We still have to try anything and everything in our power because if we don't then we've essentially given up to our own mass death, but how the fuck does this not completely demoralize you on every possible scale with the bullshit process they've created and let get infected by capitalism?
So yeah we keep ending up here because capitalism goes with the ideology that breeds the most financial gain for the people in positions of power. That's facism, specifically totalitarianism/authoritarianism.
Within those two ideologies they don't have to pretend to give a fuck about unions, or whistleblowers, or journalists, or human rights organizations, or even human rights at all. They buy their ticket that only they can afford and they have their ride to power and authority because they have money.
Tired of a union leader causing a ruckus? Congrats you can just get them arrested, or even killed/assaulted so bad they back down. Tired of a whistleblower? Well we've all seen how Boeing is going right now and they don't even PRETEND to give a fuck.
The idiots and the bastards on an individual scale want trans people dead. Those are the people who want POC to go back to being fully oppressed, and want tradwives, and all the other shit. For the people on top all of that shit is just more people dumped into the meat grinder for their profits. They don't ACTUALLY fucking care. They MIGHT find a connection to those ideals to some extent but at the end of the day, whether it's subconscious or conscious, the ideals are a means to an end of complete power and authority for them.
So yeah, here's to another election cycle of hoping that voting for the lesser evil is even enough this time, because if it isn't me and my communities may very well be dead or in outright armed conflict where we spend every second fighting for our lives. Which basically sets us on a nice time frame of probably about a year and a half or so before we're concealed carrying at best and waiting for us or someone like us to be struck down before our eyes.

H6 is objectively a pretty bad movie, but I can't help loving it for how fun it is, and for how Michael is so obviously angry the entire time. Man is just pissed the hell off lmao. He almost breaks out running at one point. He explodes a dude's head and crushes another's. Paul Rudd as Tommy Doyle is so much more enjoyable than Anthony Michael Hall in Halloween Kills. Loomis is kinda cool. And the last twenty minutes or so just frickin rocks.
(this is me from the future. I wrote a whole lot of mindless opinions about HKills and Ends for some reason which really wasn’t relevant to your ask and I’m sorry. I put a tldr at the end where I got back on track)
oh man I could talk for… some time about HKills/Ends and my thoughts on them lmao. I enjoyed them as a movie, enjoyed the experience, came out of the cinema and enjoyed them, but I think as I processed them it hit me just how badly they (personally) fit into Halloween for me.
I loved Halloween 2018 - I felt that, considering it was still a revival/reboot of a franchise that’s already been milked drier than a geriatric cow, it was well-paced, engaging, the plot was thoughtful and everything about it was fun. we had a return to Michael being a careless killer (and weirdly playful - putting sheets over things, messing about like he did in the OG ‘78 film) and we also had what I think is a really interesting idea between him and Laurie. I do like Halloween 2 and I think the idea of them being siblings is fun but personally the idea of them being entirely unrelated makes it so much scarier. she was just in the wrong place, wrong time during H78 and was the unluckiest person there to receive the full brunt of Michael’s attention.
in 2018 it shows just how much this got to her - and the film looks at the idea people had of Michael targeting her because she was special, or a sister, or anything - and makes fun of it. or at least that’s how I interpret it. Laurie is convinced that Michael wants her for some reason, and in 2018 she makes it her life goal to prep for his return, to prep her child and her house for him, she lives on full fear. and yet when he breaks out… (and it wasn’t even out of his own volition but rather someone broke him out on purpose)?
he doesn’t go for her at all. he takes his anger (if you’d like to go that route) out on Haddonfield in general, and Laurie is still so convinced that it’s about her that she puts herself directly into his line of sight and that’s when he starts attacking her again. it’s a really interesting idea I think, and this, plus the way 2018 returns to Michael as some unknowable and entirely undefined character - is he thoughtless, thoughtful, evil, mindless, supernatural, human - these ideas get thrown out of the window again when HKills and Ends roll around.
again I’m not saying people shouldn’t enjoy them. it’s half 1 in the morning and I’m rambling about my personal thoughts on the matter, and I did think they were fun films. I just wish that energy and concept got put into making a unique horror film for once and not continually revisiting H78 because I didn’t think it really fit in with what Halloween was about. but to get to what my point is here - I agree with the Paul Rudd/Anthony Michael Hall thing. I do think Kills was interesting because you could compare the trauma Laurie went through to the trauma Tommy went through but the film decided to make her look like some badass recluse, and to make him look like a mindless asshole. without any real point to it. I think Tommy did a lot better with receiving an aged-up adaption that was around Rudd’s age in H6, because it puts him in contrast as the child to Laurie’s teen babysitter. but anyway
also also but re: ‘Laurie thinks she’s special and Michael doesn’t even know who she is’ - whether you loved, hated, or entirely ignored Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022, I think it did a funny job of (imo) making fun of Laurie for this mindset she has. Sally is pretty clearly a copy of Laurie in that she’s grown up as a badass old lady who’s ready to face her young trauma and yet, when she’s directly face to face with Leatherface, he just ignores her and fucks off entirely. which is exactly how H2018 treated the connection between Laurie and Michael. non-existent on Michael’s side beyond a random game on a random victim, and only formed in any real way through Laurie’s trauma and fear. gonna say imo again but if the Halloween 2018 trilogy series really wanted to focus on trauma, and the ghost of trauma, and Michael as a ‘ghost’ manifestation of this… that would’ve been a much better route than making Michael fool around with some dude in the sewers. anyway
if you somehow read all of that welldone.
tldr
THANK YOU anon I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on H6 because as you can see I focus more on the other films than that one, so I really really enjoy it when someone talks about their thoughts and opinions on a film. I know that H6 did get praise for Pleasance and his (last? I think) appearance in the film. I think he got a bit silly in some of them, and not in a bad way, but like Leslie says - every killer needs his Ahab, and although it probably got stale after 6 movies I always really enjoyed watching him going after Michael and be just as nonstop as Myers is. I’m gonna go rewatch H6 later and I’ll keep your thoughts in mind, so feel free to drop any thoughts you have anytime

Independent and synergistic effects of pain, insomnia, and depression on falls among older adults: a longitudinal study | BMC Geriatrics | Full Text
Just me diving into research in insomnia, polyphasic sleep, and aging with chronic pain.
My physiotherapist has said it's okay if I need to rest all day because my recovery time is drastically different from most people. He says that the waking up in the middle of the night to blog something is very similar to dream journaling, if I were so inclined. He says to keep an eye on the parasomnias and tell the acupuncturist, who can help.
But more and more this year I keep seeing this sort of doom and gloom mindset toward people over 40 with fucked up sleep schedules.
I mean, I can think of a dozen reasons for increased insomnia among adults, and half the reasons are the pandemic. Three reasons include I HAVE SPASTICITY AND CHRONIC PAIN.
A shocking amount of GenXers are dealing with chronic pain. Plus, polyphasic sleep can get interesting when you lucid dream.

It’s hard to wrap my mindset that I’ve been calling my hospital & clinical home now for 7 months. Please excuse my absence from social media. I’ve been studying hard and will have successfully finished my summer rotations this weekend.
Nothing beats the joy of seeing patients getting fabulous results and delivering good news. I’m currently in final weeks wrapping up learning on geriatric patients and hospice patients. These are my toughest moments yet but I’m still enjoying the journey.
No matter how burnt out I feel in the end I enjoy the fact I can give back to my community.
