Heartstopper Toetapper
BECOMING NANCY The REP, Birmingham, Thursday 17th October 2024 This updated version of a musical that first played in Atlanta in 2019 gets its first ever UK production at Birmingham’s Rep theatre, the same establishment that gave us the gorgeous What’s New, Pussycat? three years ago.  Can they pull it off again?  Have they another hit new musical on their hands. In a word: YES! We first meet…

FASHION After completing the New York Fashion Tech Lab‘s 12-week program, the five innovative, women-lead companies selected for the 2022 Lab celebrated their work and advancement with multiple events in New York City. The three-day affair culminated with Demo Day, where each company demonstrated the technologies and unique solutions they bring to the fashion industry.
#Throughout the 12-week session, the founders of the tech start-ups, Dress X, Greenlist, Window, Digital Village, and Squadded, all worked with 12 global fashion brands and retailers to connect tech with fashion, beauty and retail to bring innovative new ideas to the space.
Tumblr media
#The 2022 Lab was all run virtually, so cohorts and partners met for first time in person this week when they gathered to celebrate at an intimate dinner, networking breakfast, and Demo Day during their time at the 9th Annual New York Fashion Tech Lab.

Amanda Seyfried Stole the Show in a Cherry Red Mini Dress and Matching Heels at the Tribeca Film Festival

Amanda Seyfried Stole the Show in a Cherry Red Mini Dress and Matching Heels at the Tribeca Film Festival
American fashion designer Bill Blass is quoted as once saying, “When in doubt, wear red,” and it seems Amanda Seyfried got that memo as she headed to the Tribeca Film Festival this weekend. The Dropout actress stole the show in a bright red mini dress and matching heels, which she showed off while walking the red carpet at the premiere of the film 88.
<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3215298295511942"
crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
Seyfried was spotted in a dress from the Carolina Herrera Resort 2023 Collection, which was paired with a matching set of strappy heels. The look was put together by L.A. stylist Elizabeth Stewart, with the help of Francesca Seykora and Jordan Grossman. Meanwhile, Seyfried's wavy hairstyle was done by Renato Campora, while her makeup was applied by Genevieve Herr.
Seyfried's designer dress included thin shoulder straps and a heart-shaped bust, while the front was stitched to look like a wrapped design. Meanwhile, there was a petticoat layered underneath on the back side of the dress, which added significant volume and created a tutu-like effect.
Stewart shared a series of videos to her Instagram account, where Seyfried is seen modeling the dress prior to arriving at the film festival. In the first video, the Mamma Mia! star walks up a flight of stairs and gives the viewer a twirl, while the second video shows Seyfried playing with the petticoat on her dress as she descends in an elevator.
Seyfried's makeup artist also shared a post that compiled photos from before the event, and her clip featured a very fitting background song, with “Red Dress” by Lucy Hale and Joe Nichols playing throughout.

Welcome, one and all, to the Chicago Day of Giving, hosted by the ever benevolent Washington family. Treat yourself to a night of luxury with wine tastings, an art and people auction, gift bags, photo booths, dancing, and, of course, a four-course meal catered by Alinea on North Halsted. Naturally, this night is all about giving, so feel free to offer donations online or at the door. As for the dress code, this is a black tie only event, so don your most expensive gowns and that suit you’ve been saving for a special occasion. Let’s make sure tonight will be a night to remember !
( Feel free to create a moodboard for your character’s outfit and post it on the dash, as well as the gala chat on Discord. )
It’s time to be an upstanding citizen by providing support for your city, and the Vasiles, Fausts, and O’Sheas all have some standing up to do. Each family has contributed a hefty donation in hopes of turning the Washingtons to their favor so they may be de-demonized in the crimson city. It’s time to play well with others. Your characters will be free to roam where they please until 10 p.m. EST, when it’s time to settle down for dinner. During dinner, characters will be randomly assigned a seat at a table that could be packed with enemies. Keep smiling, though, the cameras are watching.
Part one of the Chicago Day of Giving starts now and ends on Wednesday at midnight EST. Challenge yourself to write with everyone at your table, and let’s spread the love a little bit ! You know, before...never mind.
Under the cut, you’ll find your groupings for dinner. Reminder, dinner starts at 10 p.m. EST tonight and will end at midnight on Wednesday, May 27th, at 11:59PM EST.

Save Writing NSW
An open letter to Create NSW and the NSW Minister for the Arts
We, as writers and active members of the literary community, were dismayed by Create NSW’s decision not to grant Writing NSW Multi-Year Organisations Funding in their latest round, despite the fact that Writing NSW was recommended for funding.
This decision demonstrates the ongoing devaluation of literature within the Australian arts funding landscape. We know literature is the most popular artform in the country, with 87% of Australian reading some form of literary work in any given year, yet in this round Create NSW offered only 5.7% of their ongoing funding to literature organisations.
The decision to defund Writing NSW carries a particular sting. Writing NSW is the leading organisation representing writers in a state with a long literary history and one that is home to many of Australia’s leading publishers, writers, literary agents and other core participants in the Australian literary industry.
Writing NSW is an important stepping-stone for writers at the beginning of their careers, providing high quality professional development programs, and it also employs emerging and established writers to deliver and lead these programs. For decades the organisation has provided high-quality courses, seminars, workshops, festivals, events, grants and literary prizes. In putting such programs at risk, Create NSW is jeopardising both an entry point and an ongoing support system for writers.
Macquarie University research shows that the average income of an Australian author from their practice is $12,900. The current economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic makes the situation of writers even more precarious. Writing NSW offers key employment opportunities to writers, through teaching, publication, speaking engagements and both curatorial and judging positions. The removal of these opportunities will mean many writers will not be able to maintain the other income streams that support their writing careers.
The removal of $175,000 from a single source would be catastrophic for any business – not-for-profit or otherwise. For a government funding body to enact such a blunt economic withdrawal in the midst of a global pandemic and without concern for the economic flow-on effect to hundreds of industry professionals is deeply distressing.
We call on Create NSW to reverse this decision and ask them to reveal their future strategies for arts funding and how they plan to rectify the disparity in funding between other funded artforms and literature.
As writers, we will never accept the loss of a vibrant, essential cultural network such as Writing NSW.
What you can do We invite anyone affected by Create NSW’s decision – writers, publishers, literary agents, illustrators, readers alike – to co-sign this letter. You can copy and customise this letter to draft a version from your own point of view on this matter to send to a Member of Parliament.
To co-sign this letter, add your name here: shorturl.at/dERX6
