I wonder what the patriarchy tastes like? We should eat it to find out.
actually, the reason why you should “raise your children gender neutrally” is not because they might turn out to be trans or non-binary. if they do, you will support & try to understand them through their journey of agonizing sex dysphoria, however, the reason you should raise them gender neutrally is because gender is a misogynistic & classist tool of waging war against female people & ultimately everyone.
so, no. don’t raise them gender neutrally because there’s a chance they could be trans. or because you want them to pick out the box that looks the most appealing to them. raise them gender neutrally to teach them that no such box should exist.

ok so I didn't think I would ever return to a post but here we are! thanks to whomever brought this back from the depths, I'm now thinking about it again.
It's been over 2 years now since this post. I finished reading the fic in the middle of December, using an e-reader to listen to it while at work. I remember the first time I heard the devastating events that happened to Hermione and Gabriel and then there's a part halfway to the end where Hermione experiences loss, a loss so profound it causes her to close herself in and away from everyone she knew.
I was prepping ingredients for my yearly Christmas beverage at work with headphones on and I remember being closed off in my own little world, shelling 25 lbs of tamarind pods under our giant drink local sign in a dark taproom nearing Christmas and I was silently weeping in this lit, little corner.
Lollies and Loki was probably the first fic in a very long time that moved me soo emotionally that I had to call off work that following Monday. when I think of that part, it always reminds me of this time of year, but it also reminds me that we are not alone. I went up to the coworker whom I work with most and hugged him so tightly I popped his spine into alignment lol
when I went to my other coworkers and friends I was still tight on the hugs just not as hard as the first one.
I smile fondly when I think about this fic. it's not always a happy story but it's still comforting because even through trials and tribulations Hermione stands up stronger and shines more brilliantly than before and it's unfinished sequel, Studies and Sweets is so fucking good and I die a little bit more every year knowing it's still in limbo.
anyway if you're into or would like to know more about Nordic gods and holidays , the defiant side of Christianity from an angel's POV, Harry potter with a better writer, strong young female leads, magical worlds hidden in our reality, and a visceral dissection into trauma, highly recommend. 100/10.
Ever since I came across that post about a child being the sole worshipper of a god, i downloaded that one recommended fic in the notes of that post about Hermione and spn!Gabriel (Loki) and i am not disappointed.
15 chapters in that 50 chapter fic. I haven't had this much serotonin in a long time.

TERFs will literally see a post written by an indiginous person about the genocide comitted against their people and cultures including their cultural genders that do not conform to the white western genderbinary and the TERFs, who are white, will scream their heads off about the OP being the REAL racist. For calling indiginous people "noble savages". to an indiginous person. talking about their own culture and history.

PRIDE MONTH QUOTE 10
Tumblr media
Wednesday, June 19, 2024
How are you supposed to be believed about the harm that you experience when people don’t even believe that you exist? The assumption is that being a masculine man or a feminine woman is normal, and that being ‘us’ is an accessory. Like if you remove our clothing, our makeup, and our pronouns, underneath the surface we are just men and women playing dress-up. – Alok Vaid-Menon, Beyond the Gender Binary

Posted @withregram • @iamlexchandra THE GENDER BINARY IS A VIOLENT COLONIAL TOOL OF SOCIAL CONTROL. Write that down. 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩 Image description: [tweet by @joashilia on Twitter 1/6 “ I wish more people recognized how much the gender binary is rooted in colonialism. Prior to their colonization, Africans and other indigenous people not only had spaces for trans, genderfluid, and non binary people, but they were often venerated within the society...” 2/6 “The concept of a gender binary as it exists today (male v female) was an introduced concept. For many cultures, gender was not limited to sexual organs. Religious systems often allowed for and encouraged diff gender expression. Additionally, there were more than just two genders” 3/6 “For example, African deities and spirits in the Vodou framework can present as feminine, masculine, agender, trans, or genderfluid. In Vodou spirit possessions, women can temporarily “turn into” men by being inhabited by a masculine spirit and vice versa.” 4/6 “In Native American cultures, two-spirit (a sort of third and sometimes fourth gender representing both masculine and feminine spirits) and intersex individuals would serve important roles in traditional religious ceremonies” 5/6 “Even gender roles and the societal value of women were heavily influenced by colonization. Traditionally, female agricultural labor and reproductive ability were so highly valued in Africa that husbands had to pay a Brideswealth to the bride’s family for their loss of income.” 6/6 “Alternatively in Europe, the custom was for the bride’s family to pay the husband a Dowry because it was assumed that he’d be taking on a financial responsibility who couldn’t provide for herself.”] #transgender #twospirit #twospirited #queer #enby #nonbinary #genderfluid🌈 #genderfluid #genderisasocialconstruct #genderbinary #colonialism #decolonize #decolonizeyourmind #decolonizethisplace #decolonizeyourbookshelf #vodou #femme #masc #masculine #feminineenergy #indigenousculture #deities #intersex #intersexisbeautiful #transisbeautiful #blacktranslivesmatter #genderroles #blacktranswomen #blacktransmen #lgbtqhistory https://www.instagram.com/p/CDwZGW_h7fb/?igshid=gt2yy8myh2sw

🩻 Almost none of us use genderbinary for identification, almost everyone falls under non-binary umbrella and with our alterhumanity we can't identify with "human non-binary," it always has a tint of xenogender in it.
🩻 But... there are hundreds of us and it's hard to keep track of pronouns. We can't remember them. I know I can't, I just look it up each time.

TL;DR Science changes. We find new things out all the time and the things you know or think you know are subject to change or even be completely pulled from under your feet. It could happen now. It could happen posthumously after we’ve passed. But science moves forward. Science progresses. And it does it with little to no consideration to your personal bias or feelings on the matter or religious beliefs.
It’s almost as if people believe that biology, or science in general, is concrete and doesn’t change at all. Ding dong. You’re wrong. In fact biology is a very volatile science that happens to change and be revised quite often, especially with the relatively new field and findings of Genetics. At the beginning of the millennium there were only 3 kingdoms in domain eukarya. Kingdoms Animalia, Plantae, and Fungi. Now there are 4 with the addition of Protista. And even now things are constantly being reclassified and moved back and forth across kingdoms, phylums, classes, sub classes, etc. as genetic sequencing is considered instead of strictly morphological taxonomy.
The point? Science changes and evolves as technology allows us make new and more accurate findings. Just because it’s what you were taught and what you think you know doesn’t mean that it is the absolute and final concrete truth. I happened to talk about Biology because it was already being talked about it but I could toss in other examples as well.
The greek philosopher Democritus came up with the notion of “atomos”, meaning -uncuttable-, when contemplating that a mountain at some point would reach a point where it could no longer be cut and yet retain the properties of the mountain. However, Aristotle was more prominent a philosopher and he refuted the idea and buried it with Democritus. It wasn’t until the 18th/19th centuries when we would find that Democritus and his “atomos” or atom was ultimately correct. People generally believed the incorrect teachings of Aristotle on this matter. Now we know that while Aristotle was a great philosopher and thinker of his time, he wasn’t infallible and terribly mislead generations of people to come.

I have a few unsold paintings hanging in my living room. While they are always availible for puchase (please email me at [email protected] for inquirey) have also been wonderful companions. I am not alwasy able to continue a relationship with my works after I make them, but 5 of this series came home to me after their show at Ghost Print Gallery in Richmond, VA.   This was such a deeply personal body of works, I painted one a week for several months as I hid in the saftey of my studio and processed what my experience with gender and been and would become. There is so much information each piece has continued to reveal truths about myself. Though the self portraits are no longer resemble my apearence, and sometimes are even uncomfortable to look at, they act as a beacon in my work towards honesty and vulnerablity. Perhaps they just seem like sureal works to other eyes, I don't think I truely apreciated the work  of  Remedios Varos, and Leonora Carrington the same way i do now,  after working with this intention.  What a joy to come all these years only to discover that I do even in my ignorance, trust myself. Do you all have artist inspration you would like to share and a little comment as to why?

The performative nature of gender exists because of the fact that the term gender is often defined by the gender binary. The gender binary is defined as a system that classifies gender and sex into simply two categories. The binary depends on the idea that biology itself consistently distinguishes between females and males and determines what is masculine and feminine (Hird, 2000).

its not that I don't like gender headcanons. Its just that, most the time I just need to see myself in like say.
Optimus Prime proudly having no attachment to a genderbinary or a gendering at all.
Or Megatron dismissing the concept of it outside jokes or the bit :tm:
feeling down, gonna make every transformer genderless to feel better.

In chapter one of gender stories, there is a lot of discussion about the conceptualization of gender. We now have a better understanding of gender then we ever have before, but why is it harder to understand now more than ever? that’s because gender is more complicated than we thought.  It’s been easier to think of gender being equivalent to sex, meaning our gender is grounded in biology and even more important the physiological characteristics a person possesses, but this view makes no real distinction between sex and gender and often draws from models of the animal kingdom to explain human sexuality (Gender Stories 2013). The artifact above I believe is clear example of how one’s gender is strictly tied to their biological sex and how one is expected to behave because of it.
