The Way We Were Sneak Peek

“Thanks,” Delly said. “Thank you and Peeta for the sheets. I remember how bad winters get here.”

“So where did you live after the war again?” Katniss slipped her hands in her pockets standing straight, her no-nonsense face in place.

Delly felt heat blossoming on her cheeks. In the time she’d spent in the district no one questioned her past. Katniss, however, did. “I’ve, ah, told you,” she cleared her throat. “I spent time in the Capitol with my brother. I lived there until he found a nice girl and settled down. Then I spent time with Johanna and Annie. They’re raising Finn together, but a lot of the time I was the third wheel.”

“Then you came here?” Katniss clipped her eyes and suddenly was focused on Delly’s midsection. 

“No,” Delly said, noting how high pitched her voice was. “Then I went to District Two, for a job.” She clasped her hands together. “Then I came here. I guess there’s no place like home.” 

Katniss narrowed her gaze again.

Delly stared back unable to stop her face and neck from heating up. She wasn’t supposed to mention she went to District Two. She was supposed to say she passed through District Seven, but her mind was mush. Katniss wasn’t as oblivious as others claimed. Her mind was sharp. Delly busied herself with putting away the blankets. It felt as if Katniss could detect duplicitous actions and statements. Delly wondered what Katniss had been able to piece together.

Zuma's Expressions

I was going out of my MIND struggling with character likenesses, which is a REAL PROBLEM when you plan on drawing tons of comics about them.

After banging my head on the table and tearing my hair out didn't seem to work, I doodled practice sketches of @gelly-art's queen bitch– I mean, Drow Sorceress instead, about to gauge someone's eyes out for stepping on their toe or something.

Or maybe for just existing.

I dunno.

Girl's got issues.

Knives are ineffective, like they are so blunt as a far as blades go, what you really want is a razor blade, those can get extremely sharp, to the point where you have to squint to see the edge of the sharpened area, now that's a blade.

And of course the sharper the blade, the deeper the cuts you can make, making recovery more difficult, hehe!

Synopsis: Delly has always wanted to be crowned District Twelve's Holiday Princess and ride on that New Year's day float. But she thinks she isn't pretty or thin enough. That's until Gale Hawthorne hears some girls making fun of her thunder thighs. He encourages her to sign up and helps her train to win the contest; in the process, they fall in love.

Partners in Crime

It was @gelly-art's Birthday back in August! 🎉 And since she's been dealing with a ton of stress, life's been kicking her in the teeth, and we've both been neck deep in Baldur's Gate 3, I wanted to do a little something to take her mind off things.

To that end I Cameo'd Neil Newbon, asked him to wish her a Happy Birthday, and drew her Drow, Zumara, alongside Astarion as they leave a trail of broken hearts and broken-er ribs across Faerûn. 🎂

One of the hotfixes nerfed Sussur Blooms, Gelly's favourite method for dispatching Balthazar, and she's still salty about it. Until such a time as she can reverse-pickpocket them again, I hope this picture and the memories of the OG "Sussurstarion" will suffice...

4) Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know? 6) Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams? 7) Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares? 11) In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been? 44) How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?

4: Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?

Theres a few good answers for this one, but I'd say the thing that changed her the most was seeing her brother's missing poster and hearing her mother talk about the situation. She knew her mom sucked, but that made her realize that shes irredeemable and definitely changed how shes gonna handle coming back. The only person that fully knows is Ama. (and perhaps the gelly clones but they just make things complicatied so shh)

6: Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?

She tends to float in her dreams a lot now. Even after coming back to life, the feeling of being weightless is something her brain really latched onto. Usually theres themes of trying to get somewhere or complete something.

7: Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?

Dying again. Seeing her loved ones lose her all over again. Her brother, all alone.

11: In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

Coming back from the dead. You'd expect it to be the moment when she died, but it was so sudden that she felt more shell shocked than 'afraid'. Suddenly being whisked away to the place where she was killed, though? Yeah, she was a lot more scared than she lead on.

44: How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?

Shes pretty comfortable saying it! After realizing how attached she was getting to the other rip competitors without like. actually hanging out, she kinda stopped using it so liberally, though. Its okay though she says it to her close friends a lot still and 2x much to her partners!

And yeah. She has abusive parents- of course she can say 'I love you' without meaning it.
