i love & live for your nailposting so i have to ask — do you have any tips on cuticle care??? i find that mine grow SUPER quickly and i constantly have to trim them back with cuticle clippers but i feel like they never…. Look Nice™️.
first of all THANK YOU and the 10 other ppl who like my nailposting. second, it's hard to give specific tips w/o knowing anything about your Bod, but general tips that are always applicable are just like. push them back frequently, esp when they're soft like right after your hands have gotten wet, or you've moisturized. also def recommend using a cuticle oil every once in awhile, daily if possible! you can homebrew a cuticle oil by just using jojoba and vitamin E, if you wanna be a little cheap abt it and/or you're sensitive to fragrances, Like Moi. (premade cuticle oil is generally Scented.) using cuticle nippers and trimming them is sick and I also do it every once in awhile, but keeping them Pushed Back and Not Dry is the first line of defense, I think! if you're snipping really often, though, it can actually make the regrowth a little Worse. edit: I ALMOST FORGOT about doing cuticle cleanup with a dissolvent. they make lots of kinds, I have a sally hansen one, it comes in a little blue bottle. For the dead skin that's actually climbing up the nail plate and sticking to it, you'd apply this stuff for a minute or so, and then scrape off the (newly softened) dead skin with a little orangewood stick/cuticle pusher.
#some people are scared of the cuticle remover gels but they're not scary#I think bc it says on the back like. Let Sit for 15 Seconds. and everyone's like WHAT HAPPENS AFTER 15 SECONDS#nothing happens to Moi. I leave it longer than that. just wash your hands when you're done cleaning up your cuticles#the oil is really the biggest tip for me like. I say that for every nail related fix#bc it's also good for the health of the whole nail#and yeah like. some people don't like the sensation of Pushing Back the cuticle?#so ik this may be just a Me thing but I don't mind it. so I push mine back ALL the time#It definitely seems to help keep on top of things#and then yeah when/if you do have scragglies that you need to snip.. snip snip bitch!!#nailposting#sergle answers#long post#cuticles for me are like. I didn't particularly think about them until I started painting my nails a lot#but they really fuck up polish application so now I CARE A LOT#so now it's become just a sort of Passive Maintenance

It's funny how long lasting base coat and top coat won't stop Essie polishes from chipping the next day, meanwhile I have to soak my nails with clips three(!) times total to be rid of all the Holo Taco polish, and can go for two whole weeks before the first tiny chips start to appear + seven days without base or top coat!
#it boggles my mind how different body chemistry affects which brands lasts#like my nail tech sibling prefers essie specifically cause it lasts long on them (for non gel polish)#also i removed my current manicure cause i get new polish soon that i wanna try#so got 3 days or so of trimming them down slightly shape them and also hydrate them#i managed to trim just enough to make me able to check heart rate again#but while still keeping them long and nice looking#if you told me half a year ago that id be physically able to have long nails id have called you crazy#i was mister ''would surgically remove all nails if given the option'' until this year#though to be fair it was because they were weak and hurt when they got too long#and therefore a sensory nightmare to my autistic ass#now that ive started using polish again for the first time in years AND#my years long work of strengthening my nails have bore fruit#suddenly i prefer having long nails#also it looks great on my hands frankly my hands are the one physical attribute im overly fond of lol#anyway i spent like 2 hours on this procedure and am currently resting my back oof#itching to paint them again but gotta stay strong..... tons of oil and then in 3 days new polish....#might just put some top coat on until then maybe for strengthenings sake#anyway this is me talking to myself mostly help got carried away#silvi talks

#not sure if i talked about this here yet but I'm a recovering nail/cuticle biter#and last fall i started getting gel manicures to incentivize me to stop so i wouldnt be wasting my money lol#and it WORKED. because i got really really into nail and cuticle care#so now my nails are grown out and my nail beds have completely reattached#i have normal nails now and you could never tell i used to demolish them#i spent my ENTIRE LIFE with stubby little bitten nails and gross ripped up dried cuticles#and now i have BEAUTIFUL natural nails#except for the damage i accumulated from the gel removal over seven months lolllllll#so recently i stopped getting gel and i switched to regular lacquer#at first i was still going in to my nail tech but then i started taking the polish off in between appointments and practicing on my own#and in just a couple weeks i was good enough that i just stopped going in!#i just do my own nails now!!!#it takes me four hours to do it right lmao but its worth it because it's been a week and they're still perfect#only one tiny chip and NO LIFTING#im gonna take it off and redo it with a new color today because I'm bored of this color#but i could probably keep wearing this for another week and it'd hold up#I can't take all the credit because I'm using the Dazzle Dry system and just switching out the color with ILNP lol#Dazzle Dry is another fucking level omg#but anyway. I'm proud of myself#my nails look just as good as when i was getting them done professionally 😭#i am NOT a girly girl i don't wear makeup or shave a single part of my body#i get my hair cut specifically in a way that requires minimal styling#so the nail obsession isn't something anyone would have expected from me...#and yet my nails are always immaculate nowadays 💅

Hello I would like to inform you all that wearing all black or just wearing black nail polish was against dress code in pretty much all Texas schools when I was in school.
they're fucking banning being emo 😭😭
#it fucking sucked#id just wear black jeans and a band shirt WITH NOTHING ELSE and im in the principals office#black nail polish was an instant send to the nurse where shes give you a bottle of polish remover#oh god or the one time i tried to do a scene style with my hair#used g2bg gel and spray#there was no chance of me getting this out w/o multiple washes#and they made me wash my hair in the nurses sink with cold water and hand soap#then brush it down...#when i started crying from the pain they finally figured out i wasnt lying about my hairspray NEEDING to be properly washed out#and called my mom...#which was just about the worst thing they couldve done#i was punished for 'embarassing' her for months#oh also i was 13 and in 7th grade! :)

The fact that my palate is no longer sore is great, but it almost seems as if the illness moved down, because now my voice sounds like I'm sick.
At least I can stuff my face without pain, though. It hurt to swallow, before.
#i wonder if all the nail polish use last night contributed at all#I was COUGHING#and my nails aren't even cute for it#i ended up making a mess of my nails and removing it all#this is why i like gels: can't fuck up drying time with overzealous layering#raine's daize
