Some picketing pics from Riverside in So Cal, where a work friend & I went last Thursday. Probably the majority of coverage was in Sacramento, because that's the capitol, but there was picketing all over the state.
I've worked for the state for nearly 30 years, and this is the 1st time it's come to this - although the pay gap has been an issue since I started.

Biden or ???
I golfed Monday, and I was asked numerous times by others in my foursome whether Joe Biden should be replaced as the Democrat candidate for the presidency. I didn’t have an answer, and quite frankly, no one from my golf foursome should care about my political opinion. Nor should anyone. But now I have clarity. I hopped on my bike yesterday after work and took off for some berry picking. The…

Trump Wins Again - 01/23/2024
Trump won the New Hampshire primary today by 11%, 54% to 43%. Trump was declared the winner less than one minute after the polls closed. Nikki Haley's concession speech came across more as a condescending victory. At the time she gave it she was behind by 7%, which of course later widened to 11%. Next week is Nevada followed by her home state of South Carolina one month from now on February 24th. Trump is leading in Nevada by 95%, and by 50% in South Carolina. All of the other states Trump is leading by significant margins. Haley said that she's going to continue on to South Carolina. I think she should cut her losses and drop out now, in my opinion. Maybe she will within the next few days, or maybe she's got the extra money laying around to throw away. It looks like she's enjoying herself in spite of her losses and no path to victory. If she loses in her home state that could harm her political future, oh well. Trump has got the primary locked up as he continues receiving endorsements, mostly MAGA republicans, but some are even coming from establishment Rhino's. He's leading in nearly all the national polls against Biden, people have had it with him and are ready to go back to Trump who has a proven record on the economy, the border, crime, and foreign policy. The only thing the democrats can do is to bash Trump, to paint him as a dictator when he's been the strongest on anti-war, pro-peace, less regulations, lower taxes, and more personal freedom for the individual working-class citizens. From where I stand, I see the democrats as the real threat to democracy with their open border policies, defund the police, reward the criminals, no bail laws, allowing up to $950 per person to steal without being convicted, higher taxes, higher regulation, weak on foreign policy, war through weakness instead of peace through strength. He's also the most corrupt president in our history, taking in millions of dollars from foreign countries such as China and Ukraine. And of course, he's mentally impaired with some sort of frontal lobe disorder, and it's progressively getting worse. A lot of democrats don't want him to run. Will he stay in the race to make room for Gavin Newsome or Michelle Obama? Boy that's hard to say, I keep flipping back and forth on that one. It looks like he's staying in the race, but Biden can bow out up until the democratic national convention this August in Chicago. It'll be interesting to see what he does. It'll also be interesting to see how the impeachment proceedings unfold, how the court cases against Trump go, and who Trump will pick for his V.P. With so much turmoil, upheaval, yet freedom spreading throughout Europe, and the many unprecedented events going on, this is a very interesting time to be alive.

The comments came after a question regarding the relationship between Willie Brown and Kamala Harris. Trump then went on to say that Brown told him "terrible things" about Harris and "was not a fan of hers." Brown denies all of this.
"He is trying his best to get some way to degrade Kamala," the former mayor during a phone call with CNN. "There is no reason why her name ought to be mentioned anywhere near his lies, period."
Trump appears to have confused Willie Brown with former California Governor Jerry Brown, who actually was in a helicopter with Trump to tour wildfire damage in 2018. A spokesperson for Jerry Brown said, "there was no emergency landing and no discussion of Kamala Harris."
California Governor Gavin Newson told the New York Times, "I was on a helicopter with Jerry Brown and Trump, and it didn’t go down," and said that Trump repeatedly brought up the possibility of crashing.

"Big batteries are muscling gas out of California’s electricity mix, according to data collated by Stanford University Professor Mark Z. Jacobson.
In the 100 days to June 14, California saw a 45% reduction in gas-fired power output, relative to the same period a year before.
The decline was mostly thanks to a surge in battery installations in recent months. The state now has 10.4 gigawatts (GW) of battery storage capacity — a technology it says is key to achieving a 100% clean electricity system by 2045.
Tumblr media
Batteries are used to store energy from renewable sources like solar during the day so that it can be deployed in the evening, when solar generation tapers off and demand for power surges. These facilities are increasingly challenging the role of gas plants in meeting peak demand.
On the evening of June 10, for example, big batteries injected a record 7.7GW of instantaneous power into California’s grid. They accounted for a quarter of total electricity supply at that point.
And according to data from GridStatus, gas generation on an average April day in California hit a seven-year low, reversing an earlier trend that had been fuelled by rising electricity demand.
On 89 of the 100 days to June 14, there were periods where renewables generated more than enough electricity to cover all of California’s needs. This excess energy creates a strong business case for batteries, which can charge up when prices are low and discharge when prices are high.
Compared to a year before, utility-scale solar output was up 32% over the 100-day period, wind generation grew 10%, and battery output doubled, Jacobson says. Meanwhile, demand for electricity from the grid was down 3% due to new rooftop solar installations."

He’s running now.  He sure as hell isn’t busy being Governor of California.  Which, all things considered, is not a bad thing for us.  But under no circumstances would any sane person want this tool to go national.  Even hard-core liberals have to know they can do better than Governor Zoolander.
