I'm all on board with queer liberation as a core theme in tabletop RPGs, but I've gotta ask: did you think this shit through at all? Yes, you've name-checked the X Card in your preamble and reminded players to choose their pronouns during character creation, and you've got a big stack of testimonials proclaiming that the mechanics of play are "genderpunk" – whatever that means! – but, like, your implicit setting still includes an out-group whose boundaries are delineated within the idiom of race science whom the text insists are ontologically okay to kill. Sure, they've got fash aesthetic, but I don't think making "cop" a biological category is doing the heavy lifting you think it is.
the game grumps drag episode is now my favorite simply because you can SENSE arin bringing the energy of a 9 yr old girl looking for approval from their cooler older sister aka biqtch puddin
we're all familiar with madhattey, right? the person who makes those ishimondo x game grumps animatics? well, ever since we were exposed to those videos we've constantly been thinking about other danganronpa pairings that would be funny to apply game grumps quotes/bits to
we'd find it HILARIOUS if hajime was arin and kazuichi was dan, but we'd also find it funny if fuyuhiko was arin and hajime was dan. we headcanon that hajime has mild anger issues, but we can't argue with the canon anger issues haver, yk?
I was rewatching one of the MRE power hours and I love how different Arin and Dan's thresholds for food are. Like, Dan rejects food that objectively sound delicious but Arin draws the line at "yeah no dude this is literally poisonous" LMAOO
Reviews of soulslike-type games can be tricky to interpret because a big chunk of the soulslike fandom can't seem to distinguish between "difficult" and "time-consuming", so you basically have to guess whether "the bosses are too easy" means they actually pose no execution challenges, or whether it just means it doesn't take twenty fucking minutes to wear down their health bars.
Also hey I'd love to talk about what the fuck this thing might mean
Obviously it's a mural of a grumpus being sacrificed to the Undersnax (whether it's the Snaktooth one or if Broken Tooth has it's own equivalent to it). It's something that's been depicted in other murals and is mentioned frequently.
But what I'd like to know is what that hand looking thing is supposed to be?? Grumpuses don't have hands and I'm pretty sure there were no other living animals that had hands like that either, so what's the deal with it??
My personal idea is that it's something that relates to ancient grump religion/mythology, specifically with Mother Naturae. I don't know how specifically, but I like to think that. I feel like it could also relate to Snakqueens or just the island itself in some sort of way, like the hand represents the island reaching out for what it desires (which is a falling grump that's 100% gonna die, I guess lol). Something like that.
Henry: I was... I was in one of my moods, before the show.
William: Yeah. Sometimes, before Henry goes on stage, he’s like, he’s slumped over, with his head in his hands, and like a worker comes up to him, and he’s like, “hey man, can I get you anything?” And- and what did you say? Like um... “I’d like a high tree and a noose” hehe???
Henry: Haha! “A noose and a dramatic tree.”
William: Yes! And then the guy came over to me afterwards, and was like, “is Mr. Emily okay?” And I was like, “yeah. When he’s like this, just leave him alone, just give him some space. He’ll be fine.”
I haven’t watched game grumps in a few years but this clip perfectly captures Henry Emily’s personality, in my opinion. He’s chill, but sometimes he gets lost in his own head.
