An very incomplete list of trans murder victims in 2024
(this list includes people that identify as non-binary and/or gender-nonconforming)
Samantha Gómez Fonseca: A 37 year old transgender activist and politician who was shot multiple times in a car in Mexico City on January 14. The murder was planned
Miriam Nohemi Ríos: Killed (shot) on January 11 in the central Mexican state of Michoacán. She was a trans human rights activist.
Nex Benedict: Beaten in an Owasso High School bathroom by three other students on February 7. He later died due to his injuries at just 16 YEARS OLD!
Gaby Ortiz: She was a renowned stylist and reported dead on January 6 in the state of Hidalgo. Her body was found on the road along with a cardboard written message next to her containing threats. Her body showed visible signs of violence.
Parsa: The the 17 YEAR OLD Iranian was stabbed to death on January 30 by their father for "not conforming to traditional gender norms".
Amanda Soares (Mandy Gin Drag): She was a trans singer known as Mandy Gin Drag and found dead February 1 in São Gonçalo. Witnesses reported stab wounds on her body.
Kitty Monroe: (because of conflicting information on their preferred pronouns I'm going to use they/them) On January 1 they were run over by a truck driven by a man who was chasing them (Phoenix/US) . It is assumed that they were targeted for being trans. After their death they were deadnamed and misgendered by the 'Republic'. In a YouTube video of the previous year Monroe said: “I’m not afraid to exist, but I’m afraid of what other people would see, I’m afraid of what their perception of me is.”
Bunitinha: A 57 year old trans woman beaten and suffocated to death by her partner on January 13 in São Paulo.
Its barely been two months.. jesus fucking christ

When Frida Kahlo died, her husband Diego Rivera asked the poet Carlos Pellicerto turn the Blue House into a museum that the people of Mexico could visit to admire the work of the artist. Pellicer selected those of Frida's paintings which were in the house, along with drawings, photographs, books, and ceramics, maintaining the spaces just as Frida and Diego had arranged them to live and work in. The rest of the objects, clothing, documents, drawings, and letters, as well as over 6,000 photographs collected by Frida in the course of her life, were put away in bathrooms converted into storerooms. This remarkable collection remained hidden for more than half a century. A few years ago the storerooms, wardrobes, and trunks that safeguarded it were opened. The collection of photographs is a treasure that reveals the tastes and interests of the famous couple, not only through the images themselves but also through the annotations made on them. The collection allows us to speculate about Frida's and Diego's likes and dislikes, and makes it possible to document their family origins. Photography had always been a part of Frida's life. Her father Guillermo Kahlo was one of the great photographers of Mexico at the beginning of the twentieth century, whose images of colonial architecture and numerous self-portraits have been preserved. Frida's collection constitutes a roll call of great photographers: Man Ray, Brassai, Martin Munkacsi, Pierre Verger, George Hurrel, Tina Modotti, Edward Weston, Manuel and Lola Alvarez Bravo, Gisele Freund, and many others, including Frida Kahlo herself. It is likely that many of the photographs in the collection were taken by her, though we can only be sure of the few that she decided to sign in 1929.

"No tenemos vidas dignas. Each of the items in today's list are merely an idea of inspiration as components in what creates the foundation for a fall wardrobe to fit my day-to-day schedule and events. Over the years my style hasn't changed tremendously, but what I have noticed it that is has been honed as I become more clear and thus become more confident to invest in high quality items that I will reach for again and again year after year. Whether going about my daily work, attending an event indoors or walking my dogs outside in the chillier weather, I feel comfortable in what I am wearing on a variety of levels. And I hope you do as well with the items you have in your closet for years to come.
Wishing you a stylish autumn season.

A Suit That Doesn’t Fit
Eddie had always known that there was something wrong with him. Like there was something inside of him that wasn’t quite right, didn’t quite fit into his skin. Something that clawed on his insides, wanting to get out, out, out. Eddie didn’t fully understand what it was, but he knew he couldn’t, mustn’t let it surface.
Other than that, Eddie was a normal boy of fifteen, almost sixteen. He liked playing baseball, liked video games and scary movies, liked hanging out with his school friends and sharing a beer or two one of them had nicked from their parents’ fridge. He liked hanging out with his best friend the most - with Dylan who lived just two streets down from him and was sitting next to him in most classes they shared. But it was with Dylan that this thing - this monster inside of him most often threatened to come out.
Before their freshman year ended, Dylan got together with Gabriela Ortiz, who was one of the most popular girls in their year. Not only was she very pretty, with her thick, curly brown hair and what most boys called the most phenomenal ass in her cheerleader’s costume, she was also fiercely intelligent and despite her popularity - against the teen movie cliché - extremely kind. Naturally, all boys envied Dylan. All boys, except Eddie. Instead, Eddie wished that Gabi could have at least one significant flaw that would make it easier for him to hate her.
But Eddie couldn’t hate her, especially not when he saw the look in Dylan’s green eyes and the smile on his lips whenever he looked at Gabi or talked about her. All he could do over the course of that summer was feel sad for every time Dylan said he couldn’t hang out because he had plans with her, mourning the simpler times of summers past when it had been just them.
This was normal, Eddie told himself. Best friends spent so much time together, and when another person entered the equation, things naturally changed. And change was scary. You never knew what it would bring, whether the friendship could withstand those changes, so him not feeling happy about all of this was normal. It had to be, as much as Eddie feared that some parts of how he felt were not. The parts where he was lying in his bed at night, thinking of the last conversation he had had with Dylan or something else they had experienced together in the past. It made something in his chest feel both warm and heavy. Nice and pleasant, but at the same time painful and scary - something expanding in him, stretching and stretching until he felt like his chest was going to be torn apart from the inside.
As much as he liked to convince himself of the opposite, this part couldn’t be normal. It couldn’t be what others felt as well, every night, every moment free of distraction, just because their best friend had started dating, could it?
It was that thing in him, something that just made him weird and different, and Eddie could not talk about it to anyone because he was too scared of what they might say. Would they recognize what that thing was, identify it, and brand Eddie with something he, himself, couldn’t yet name? No, he had to keep it to himself, suck it up, and walk it off. Wait until it passed and then move on.

Elena of Avalor To End With Primetime Coronation Special
Disney Junior has set a primetime finale coronation special for Elena of Avalor that will air Sunday, Aug. 23, on Disney Junior and DisneyNOW. New episodes leading up to the finale will debut every Sunday at 5 p.m.
In the prime-time special, Elena of Avalor: Coronation Day, as plans for Elena's coronation are underway, Esteban's team of villains unleash legendary spirit misfits, the Four Shades of Awesome. In order to save her kingdom, her family and her friends, Elena must journey to the Spirit World and back, and face the ultimate test of her courage and character, before becoming queen.
Jenny Slate, Mark Hamill, Fred Armisen and Andy Garcia guest star as the Four Shades of Awesome and Patrick Warburton voices Grand Macaw, ruler of the dark side of the Spirit World.
The finale also features returning guest voice cast members Constance Marie, Lou Diamond Phillips, Jaime Camil, Justina Machado, Gina Rodriguez, Mario Lopez, Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, John Leguizamo, Cheech Marin, Whoopi Goldberg, Cloris Leachman, Chrissie Fit, Tyler Posey, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Kether Donohue, Nestor Carbonell, Andrea Navedo, Eden Espinosa, Ana Ortiz, Gina Torres and Gaby Moreno, who also sings the series' theme song.
Inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore, Elena of Avalor premiered in July 2016 and ran for three season. It tells the story of Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who has been learning what it takes to be a great leader by ruling her enchanted fairytale kingdom as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen.
Craig Gerber is creator and executive producer of the Emmy- and Imagen Award-winning series, which airs in more 150 countries around the world.
"It has been a tremendous honor for me to bring Disney's first Latina princess to the screen," Gerber said. "Everyone involved with Elena of Avalor, from the creative team to the unbelievable cast and crew, felt the responsibility to get this right. We created the character of Elena with the hope that she would be a role model, not just for young Latina girls watching, but for all children to be able to see what a true leader looks like. From the beginning, Elena's story arc has been that she would one day become queen. With the series finale, the creative team has been able to bring Elena's story to the thrilling conclusion that we always envisioned. I can't wait for viewers to see the final chapter in Elena's epic adventure."
Elena of Avalor will continue to air on Disney Junior and Disney Channel platforms around the world. The series' first two seasons are also currently available on Disney+.
The Elena of Avalor character and stories have extended into other Disney businesses including Disney Parks, were Elena made her debut at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in 2016. In addition to a limited edition Princess Elena of Avalor doll, Disney store debuted the Disney Animators' Collection Elena of Avalor doll in 2018, the first doll to represent a television character within the collection. Additional extensions include books, playsets, an original soundtrack album from Walt Disney Records and multiple DVD releases from Walt Disney Studios.
Elena of Avalor: Coronation Day was written by Gerber and Rachel Ruderman, with story by Gerber, Ruderman, Tom Rogers, Kate Kondell and Silvia Olivas. Elena of Avalor is a production of Disney Television Animation.
