doing research for my master's thesis (applications due soon! im crying!) + i came across this translated 16th century French sapphic poem and i'm genuinely near tears, omg. sapphic yearning never fuckign changes,,,

mm sometimes i think my yanderes would take advantage of the fact that I cant do some of the things most people can do with ease like tying their shoes or telling the difference between left and right, or the way i absorb info just to force me into being a baby. Mommy kakyoin would coax me into his lap after heavily drugging me, so I just happily melt into his embrace as he asks me what sound a puppy makes only to be met with a soft whimper of me trying to speak.. or diavolo making me do kindergarten level math in the playpen he keeps in his office for me. -📱

I've been having some trouble with doing tasks most people can do, so it is fun to think about different yanderes making you do baby-level math worksheets, or French vocab sheets and crosswords meant for little kids. Or having those grid papers to write Cantonese and Mandarin, or in your case with mommy Kakyoin, katakana. Why bother teaching you kanji or hiragana? You'll only be confused. And hiragana is more commonly used-- he doesn't need you knowing what common signs and objects actually say. Then you won't feel as lost, should you manage to slip away from his hands for a moment.

Diavolo knows worksheets aren't any fun-- he'd give everything to not have to do them, and still know the people he cares about would be okay. So instead of a little duotang with worksheets for your math, linguistics, or animal noises, Diavolo tries to set up little activities for you to do every day. Little trays with a number of the day, clay in one dish so you can draw the number yourself, roll it on a die, and count it out of marbles. Calling an animal handler to show you the different birds and bugs of the devildom in the throne room (and saving trips to the royal zoo for weeks you've been extra good!).

#I'm wondering what would be more advantageous (by which I mean less helpful) to teach someone in japanese? Katakana? Hiragana? Kanji?#they're ALL used #but some are more grown up than a little kid that still needs Kakyoin for everything #Most old documents are written in katakana. You'd sound so old. Like a little kid that still says “gee willikers batman”#but granted you'd typically mix katakana and hiragana AND kanji in a sentence and coversation #so if he really wanted to nerf you he would only teach you how to spell one way #Kanji is hard to learn (in my opinion just reading this) but if you learn 1000 words you can just suss out what most things say #oh don't get me started on the SLANG #man what a high pressure environment to learn a language... You have NO idea what this dialogue does to me man I am just. Every time I fucking read it, it guts me and strikes me in the heart and it's like. Okay. You're INSANE. INSANE fucking thing to say to someone you've only known for a few days. MAYBE A WEEK. AT MOST. When I think about it, this happened fresh off the coat-tails of Book 6 I think, probably after losing Bruno. So like. That's the logical explanation, especially common to regress back to old habits/ways of thinking/ESP ways of protecting yourself when you just went through something Like That.

BUT LIKE. Context is important yes, informs the feelings/decisions here, but I wanna. Talk about how this line just Fucks with me SO badly. It invokes SUCH. SUUUUUCH a VISCERAL response in me and I just. "I could lose my will to fight" YOU'RE INSANE!!!!!!!!!! IT'S FINE!!!!!!!!!! IT'S LITERALLY FIIIINEEEEE you've known her for LIKE A WEEK it's literally fiiiiine and like, even if it was longer even if she was a really good friend and you were super close It's FINE. parroting off of that post but it’s truly a fascinating phenomenon that wally is so thoroughly developed a character in his own runs and arguably miles more mature and possessive of the accountability to deal with certain emotional situations that the other members of the fab five continue to flail at and yet every time he’s in a titans book the greatest extent to his characterization is dumbass dickhead who doesn’t know how to do his job without someone (dick) telling him how to do it

#to be deleted #if anything this is why i sympathize with the fab five ig like they didn’t really get the benefit of writing that was intended #to help them mature. wally’s runs by loebs and waid /were/ written with his developing maturity in mind #and granted a lot of that has to do with wally’s role within the flash fam #whether that’s as a son / nephew / husband / uncle / father / etc #so his maturity was grounded in being the family man #which arguably not every titan also needs to be. some of them aren’t made for the settled domestic life #but it’s a shame they were afforded little opportunity to mature otherwise #except for roy i do think he was getting there for a while before things went haywire early 00s

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED #while i remembered Katy turned up (in 2 eps iirc) i had completely forgotten the absolute ick of a storyline she has. she's Joe Lampton's #15yr old son's 18yr old girlfriend... who Joe then starts sleeping with. blergh. like i said Joe is a piece of work and honestly pretty #unredeemable at times (this a prime example). it's all pretty gross but Katy does well and has a much meatier role than in the Softly #Softly: Task Force she'd done the year before. she was about 25 but convinces as an 18yr old (just as Skinner convinces as a 15yr old but #he too was in his 20s im relieved to say; there's some heavy macking that made me squirm when i knew Katy was 25 and thought he was 15)#shudder. anyway. despite everything I've said this series is better than i remembered‚ mostly bc of those pin sharp scripts that belong to #the power game and the brothers world of big business bitching mixed with familial melodrama. just.. try to be a little less creepy joe.#or a lot less‚ ideally
