48 MP, 4K video recording 100 fps, 34 minutes of flight and signal transmission over 20 km DJI has introduced its new compact drone weighing less than 250 grams - DJI Mini 4 Pro. It is a small update to the DJI Mini 3 Pro, and most of the innovations are inherited from the DJI Air 3 model, which fans of the brand have already nicknamed “Air 3 mini”. [caption id="attachment_59916" align="aligncenter" width="780"] DJI Mini 4 Pro drone[/caption] One of these innovations is Waypoint Flight (Route Flight) - automatic passage of a route along a given trajectory and accompanying shooting. Also introduced is the ActiveTrack 360° function with advanced object-tracking capabilities. [caption id="attachment_59917" align="aligncenter" width="780"] DJI Mini 4 Pro drone[/caption] Thanks to the latest DJI OcuSync 4.0 technology, which was first used in the DJI Air 3, the drone will be able to transmit data over long distances. Thus, the transmission distance for Full HD video at 60 frames per second has almost doubled compared to the previous generation - up to 20 km. Is this Air 3 mini? The main thing is not to confuse: DJI Mini 4 Pro drone presented [caption id="attachment_59918" align="aligncenter" width="780"] DJI Mini 4 Pro drone[/caption] As for other characteristics, DJI Mini 4 Pro received a camera with a 48-megapixel sensor and supports shooting 4K video at 100 fps, D-Log M color profile. Flight time reaches 34 minutes using a standard battery and 45 minutes with an extended battery. Plus battery. The device weighs 249 grams. Sales of DJI Mini 4 Pro have already started for $759. The DJI Mini 3 is the latest iteration of DJI's popular line of compact drones, designed with beginners in mind. Design and Portability:
One of the standout features of the DJI Mini 3 is its compact and lightweight design. Weighing in at just 249 grams, it falls below the regulatory weight threshold in many countries, which means you often won't need a license or registration to fly it. The foldable arms make it incredibly portable, fitting comfortably into a small bag or even a pocket. This makes it a fantastic travel companion for capturing breathtaking footage on the go.
Camera Performance:
The camera on the Mini 3 is a notable improvement over its predecessors. It boasts a 1/2.3-inch sensor, capable of shooting 12MP photos and 4K video at 30fps. The image quality is impressive for its size, delivering vibrant colors and sharp details. While it may not compete with DJI's more advanced models like the Mavic Air 2 in terms of camera capabilities, it certainly exceeds expectations for a beginner-focused drone.
Flight Performance:
DJI's Mini drones have always been known for their user-friendly flight experience, and the Mini 3 is no exception. It comes equipped with GPS and downward-facing sensors for stable and precise hovering, even in less-than-ideal conditions. The addition of obstacle avoidance technology helps prevent collisions, further enhancing its safety and ease of use for beginners.
Battery Life:
The Mini 3 comes with an upgraded battery that offers a respectable flight time of up to 31 minutes on a single charge. This extended flight time provides more opportunities to capture stunning aerial footage without constantly worrying about returning to the base for a recharge.

Intelligent Flight Modes:
DJI has included several intelligent flight modes that make capturing professional-looking shots a breeze, even for newcomers. QuickShot modes, such as Dronie and Circle, automate complex maneuvers, allowing users to focus on framing their shots. ActiveTrack 4.0 lets the drone autonomously follow a subject, while Smart Return to Home ensures a safe and accurate return even in challenging environments.
Controller and App:
The Mini 3 is compatible with the DJI Fly app, which provides an intuitive interface for controlling the drone and accessing various features. The included remote controller offers precise and responsive control, and it can hold most smartphones for a live view of the camera feed.
Price:
One of the most appealing aspects of the DJI Mini 3 is its affordability. It provides access to DJI's renowned technology and features at a price point that won't break the bank, making it an excellent choice for beginners or those on a budget.
Conclusion:
In summary, the DJI Mini 3 is a fantastic drone for beginners and amateur aerial photographers and videographers. It combines portability, ease of use, and impressive camera capabilities at an affordable price. While it may not match the advanced features of DJI's higher-end models, it more than satisfies the needs of those looking to capture stunning aerial content without a steep learning curve. If you're in the market for a beginner-friendly drone that delivers on both performance and value, the DJI Mini 3 should be at the top of your list.

LAS VEGAS WAS A BRIGHT CITY. So bright, and yet you were still battling with all-consuming darkness.
You’d arrived more than twelve hours ago. Cameras flashed, questions asked, your mind had been buzzing with excitement for the ever-anticipated Grand Prix at the new track. Hundreds of people; reporters, fans, drivers, bustled about. Drones and tripods followed your every move, microphones bursting your personal bubble, screaming people begging for their caps, shirts and babies to be signed. It crossed your mind more than once that you weren’t a driver, yet the cheers of sheer joy echoed when you walked by.
It was exhilarating, truly. You’d never imagined your life would turn out this way, your face being plastered onto live television, a banner across the bottom presenting you as Lando Norris’ girlfriend.
You’d arrived just in time for Free Practice 2, not getting a chance to find the man in orange before he was off and onto the track for the second time two hours later than scheduled. However, you were soon supplied with a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and a chair to get comfortable with.
It was colder than usual. Your eyes were permanently fixated on the screen above you. No matter how many times you’d watched your boyfriend race, in person or in the comfort of your shared home, it was never any less terrifying. The noises of pure acceleration, the sparks that would occasionally burst from the back of the car, the knowledge of what could happen and what’s already happened several times before. All of it was enough to keep you on your toes, wide awake, and alert every time.
Every single time, except this one.
The low hum of the engine through your headphones did nothing to help you stay focused, time finally beginning to creep its way back up to you. Your boyfriend’s voice calmly updating his engineers, the muffled chatter of the garage, all of it caused your mind to numb and breathing to begin evening out. It was so late. So, so late, and cold.
Your head suddenly lulled to the side causing your eyes to snap open, saving yourself before you slipped off the plastic foldable chair. God, you hoped the live broadcasting cameras were not allowing thousands of eyes to see you right now.
There were some eyes, though, that had seen you. The engineers dressed in orange pottering around were chuckling, they themselves trying to stay awake by toying with tools and fidgeting with other mechanical things that you didn’t understand. Most of them you were quite friendly with by now as you were a frequent member of the McLaren garage, and they all knew you were the one to go to whenever Lando needed a break. They were grateful to have you. An angry Lando is never a fun time.
Which is exactly why they decided to make an executive decision to save you from the concrete floor below. It was only a matter of time before you ended up hurting yourself.
The screen above you began blurring once more, eyes drooping against your will when a hand placed itself onto your shoulder. One of the engineers that Lando was particularly close with was smiling down at you, softly nudging you forward and guiding you to stand up. You looked at him, eyes glossy and brows furrowed, confused.
He sighed amusedly, “I think it’s time for bed.”
Slight slurred protests began to slip out of your lips but were stopped when you wobbled and had to grip onto the top of the chair for balance. The engineer’s hold on your arm tightened and your exhaustion was too heavy to resist as he began leading you towards the driver’s rooms.
You glanced back at the screen showing your boyfriend’s perspective of the car, not wanting to leave but knowing that it’s probably for the best. There wasn’t any action going on, every driver was tired, nobody was pulling any dangerous moves. It was safe enough to walk away, just for a little bit, just this once.
The door to Lando’s driver’s room was opened and you settled onto the small sofa in the corner, wrapping yourself in a papaya-coloured blanket. Darkness enveloped the room as the engineer flipped the switch, shutting the door quietly behind him and leaving you to your thoughts for all of two seconds before a soft voice filled your ears. You’d forgotten to take the headphones off.
Lando spoke to his team, his voice calm and soothing, almost as if he knew you were falling into the depths of unconsciousness in that moment. He was safe. You felt safe.
Tumblr media
The second he’d hauled himself out of the car, helmet removed, and interviews finished up, he was on the search for you. Often, you would wander off as soon as the car had been parked, for a bathroom break or to have a quick snack, refusing to do it during the race.
He walked back to his room as fast as possible, weaving between hundreds of people who he didn’t bother giving the time of day. Usually, he would’ve stopped and had a little chat, but it was so, so late and his whole body felt like it was about to crumble. All he wanted was to find you, get changed and make the small trek back to your shared hotel room.
The door was unlocked when he arrived, a sure sign that you were inside and waiting. But when he opened the door ready to be greeted with a sweet kiss, all he was met with was complete darkness. Weird.
His hand reached for the switch and light flooded the room. Sure enough, there you were, cuddled up in his bright orange blanket and sound asleep. Your face was half covered and smushed into the arm rest, knees curled into yourself and a set of headphones askew on top of your mussed hair.
The smile that had etched itself onto his face grew when he noticed the headphones. You’d fallen asleep whilst listening to him talk, even when he wasn’t with you. Even when you were jetlagged, cold, and exhausted, you still made sure he was okay. His chest warmed at the thought.
Lando placed the bottle of water he was holding down onto the table beside him, trying his best to be as quiet as possible as he changed from his suit to a hoodie. You didn’t move a muscle, only light breaths filling the silent space.
You looked so peaceful, lashes fluttering every so often. The urge to try and squeeze himself onto the sofa with you was strong, but the more logical side of him told him that it was finally time to head back to the hotel, and if you stayed in that position much longer then your neck would be unbearably stiff by tomorrow morning. He loved you more than anything in the world, so he knew you well enough to know that you would be moaning to him about it once you’d woken up, and not the moaning that he enjoyed hearing.
Carefully, he brushed the tips of his fingers across your cheek, moving a few stray strands of hair. Your cheeks were warm, a contrast to Lando’s cool touch that caused you to pull your face away and tuck it further into the safety of his blanket. His lips twitched slightly. You would hate him for this now, but thank him later, he thought, as he swiftly curled his fingers around the edge of the blanket and pulled it down.
Your skin, exposed to the night air, broke out into goosebumps as you wrapped your arms tighter around yourself. Lando slowly rubbed his palm up and down your arm, bringing his lips to your forehead and kissing you softly.
Your eyelids fluttered open, pupils narrowing to the bright light of the room as an almost silent groan escaped you.
Your eyes darted around for a moment before landing on your boyfriend, crouched down beside you with his hand stroking your hair. He was smiling at you lovingly, eyes squinted and laced with a tinge of mischief. “G’morning, baby.”
You didn’t reply, instead choosing to open your mouth in a yawn directed straight at his face. He chuckled quietly.
“I think it’s time we get you to bed, hm?”
You rested your head back against the armrest, closing your eyes once more, “I’m already in bed.”
“I’m sure you are.” He said, before rising back up to his full height and slipping one hand underneath your neck, wrapping his arm around your shoulders, and the other around the back of your knees. Your hand instinctively curled around his bicep as you were lifted into the air, taking note in the back of your mind at how effortlessly he seemed to manoeuvre you.
As Lando began to carefully place you onto your feet, a wave of adoration filled you to the core. He’d just been working for hours straight, and yet here he was taking care of you. The love you had for this boy was absolutely unmatched.
And what better way to show him this than by using the little energy you had restored during your nap to rise onto your tiptoes and press a sweet kiss against his awaiting lips.

hot and heavy- 1.9k word of a WIP. not part two of my ducati 2025 ranch fic, part 4 maybe??? i write out of order which is very bad but. alas! i need to fix this fuckass dialogue uughghh
Riding on dirt was different to asphalt in every conceivable way. Marc was reminded of this immediately as he slid onto the motocross bike and shifted the front tyre against the gritty track. It was like running up a rubber hill on roller skates, constantly vying for grip where there should be none, feet kicking the floor to knock the rear end off-balance for an inch more pace, and yet only in danger when he remembered to be afraid.
On asphalt, every twitch, each imperceptible nudge of weight counted. If one worried about such trivia on a dirt bike, they would be doomed to a sharp hug with the gravel.
The habit was hard to break for a MotoGP rider, but far from impossible.
Marc began to anticipate the ache in his wrists from clinging to the juddering bike as it threatened to slip on the corners; the quake of the seat as he opened the throttle sooner than he should and the vehicle tried to break free from under him.
Remarkably, it did not, and he hared past the start line, engine jack-rabbitting as he dove into the first corner again. It became an a-rhythm- its sequence entirely unpredictable, but not unexpected.
The laps were irreplicable with new hurdles at each sweeping curve- the scatter of Pecco's rear tyre as Marc gained on him, a slight crater on the inside line from where one of them had dug in too deep. He made up time in a different sector every round. It would have been marvellous to watch.
Sweat dampened the inside of his gloves, body peaking at the exertion, raring to push further. It was the wall to break down for any athlete, the concept of a limit. That cry to stop, to conserve energy, only came when the body believed there was no urgency, that its survival was not within the balance. Marc learned to anticipate it with some eagerness. He used the wall as a tightrope, where he teetered on the edge of self-destruction, where the slip of a foot or a hand could paste him against the circuit barrier. For a win, survival was always worth the risk.
He tore out of the tightest corner, dumping the clutch and feeling the front-end shudder- reminiscent of the lift on a GP bike. He threw himself down the "pit" straight (which was more of a large curve), blasting past the camera crew, who clapped him on from where they stood, hidden under the trackside shelter from the sun's glare.
When he wrestled past the finish line, he released the throttle and the bike's roar quietened to a meagre grumble, like a horse nickering for breath. He rolled off the track and onto the path leading up to the shelter. It was a small, concrete cottage that doubled as a garage- detached from the house.
As he withdrew from his pinpoint race focus, he suddenly became aware of all the places his leathers pinched, how his undershirt soaked through from September's last attempt at Summer heat and the motorbike's hot, worked engine. He felt the wind whip at the shaded goggles of his helmet, loosened a strap under his chin and let it clack against the plastic.
Once the bike was securely under the shelter, he dropped the kickstand and killed the engine. His head was buzzing still, body weightless with adrenaline, and the ground swayed as he hoisted off the bike.
"Awesome stuff, Marc," He thought he heard from somewhere behind him, voices muffled through the helmet.
He mindlessly followed his post-race routine, static nerves dulling in the process. He untucked the suit from between his legs, peeled the zip apart and fumbled with the straps of his gear. He tucked his chest padding and gloves into the empty helmet shell habitually, sliding the open leathers down to his hips.
"We got some good drone footage of that battle with Pecco," A man with a bushy moustache and blindingly red Ducati cap- Marc vaguely recalled somebody introducing him as Giuseppe- informed him in Italian.
Marc was unsure whether he would call it a battle- it was like Pecco had let him pass, "Yeah?"
The man nodded, "There are a few things you need to watch for us, though- just to see if you'd like to redo it. We lost you a bit coming into turn--"
Marc didn't mean to, but he found himself tuning out, flitting his eyes across the small crowd of 15 (or so): a handful of media officers, two or three journos, camera crew, and hospitality- probing for Valentino. There was no need for him to be present, he was not due to film his segment on Pecco until the next morning, but a part of Marc dreaded and hoped for him to poke his head out to watch.
He needed to keep an eye on him- stay vigilant and prevent an ambush like a wild animal. It was a bit of a horror film with his back always to the wall, eyes roving between every entrance and exit, every window and face, a desperate grasp for some control while trapped in Vale's territory.
There was no sight of him. It set a cold, heavy weight in Marc's chest and he bit his cheek hard to subdue it- not disappointment, definitely not, probably anxiety. He turned his gaze back to Giuseppe.
"--so would you be able to look over some of that later?"
His thick eyebrows lifted expectantly and Marc felt the man knew he was not listening.
Marc spread a smile across his cheeks- one that could not quite reach his eyes, "Of course, sí! Just let me know what and send it over to me."
It was apparent Giuseppe had not suspected a thing when he clapped a weathered hand upon Marc's shoulder and flashed him a thumbs up. He waddled back to his colleagues and ducked his head into a conversation over a dim laptop screen.
Marc turned his attention to the track, where Pecco still bore into the white dirt, bristling with youthful energy. And Marquez was not old for a man, just two years into his thirties, skin still elastic and clean-shaven. But for a rider, he was nearing retirement age- a thought that had nagged insistently for over a year, swelling each time he flew over the handlebars and wiped out in the gravel, the new aches and bruises that he never got when he was younger.
There was a bitterness there, he supposed as he watched Francesco fly across the circuit. In knowing he had the disadvantage. In knowing he was a dying breed.
A meek, young lady bustled up to him with an open red bull can, black hair folded into a bun atop her head. It was water, of course- just a sight for the sponsors if he got caught on camera. He smiled politely and accepted the can, dipping his head in thanks. She beamed, flushed pink, and hurried away. It was pleasing to know he still had fans, even deep behind enemy lines- both in Tavullia and Ducati.
The liquid graced the back of his throat, and he hummed at how it cooled his feverish skin. He turned his mind to the overtake he pulled on Pecco, how he had ducked into the gap hoping for some bite, a bit of fire from his teammate, but received no tug at the bit- just the sight of him pulling too wide out of the bend and watching Marc pass.
It was not alike Pecco to neglect a fight, particularly one that had no say in the championship standings, no cost if he lost. Marc believed him a sensible, thoughtful man, but it never halved his aggression on track- something the Spaniard deeply admired in a rider.
Perhaps he did not want to disrupt the synergy of the team, perhaps he wanted to maintain a neutral mood for the duration of the weekend.
Marc spotted Pecco abort a movement that seemed like dropping a knee as he skidded into turn six, and his lips peeled into a soft smile. Old habits die hard.
Pecco was a polished rider, movements calculated in the turns prior, easy on the throttle and braking, seeming like he valued his life as he carefully grabbed for speed entering the pit-straight.
The caution left him only at a disadvantage in time trials, however- something Marc had assimilated over two years of watching. He was a fierce fighter up close. Unrelenting, almost Spartan in his aggression.
And that was the VR46 Academy fighter dog mentality, Marc supposed, swallowing hard at the reminder of Pecco's connection to Vale. He was a Crown Prince cut and pressed by a god, filed at the dull edges into something deceptively sharp. It was why, for all Pecco's pretence at cordiality, Marc remained guarded.
A figure shifted in Marc's periphery and he plastered a smile onto his lips once more, prepared to see that same black-haired girl and sign a shirt or a cap, or acquiesce to a photo. He spun and met with high, wiry shoulders under a baggy shirt, a mass of thin, dark, curly hair tucked under a black hat, and a single, glinting horseshoe earring.
Marc's blood ran cold, heart dropped to his stomach, smile turned pursed and drawstring-tight.
"Ciao," Valentino drawled, voice smooth and casual.
Thick-framed sunglasses shielded his eyes, but Marc knew he was not looking at him, could tell by the tilt of his chin that he was talking past him, above him, sat atop a mighty steed and unwilling to grace the commoner with niceties. Marc gritted his teeth as to not bite his fucking tongue off.
"Ciao," He echoed, shuffling a step away to relieve the pressure that gathered between them, tender like an abscess.
"You were not bad out there," So Vale had been watching.
Marc was normal about that. He could be normal. But his gut curdled suspiciously and his hands itched to connect at his middle, fumble together. The shadow of a compliment cast projections of Marc, twenty-two years old and bashful, on the surface of his face. How desperate he had been for Valentino's attention, searching for each Italian phrase in his head- is this good? I learned this for you. Only for you.
A small part of that boy jolted awake in him and Marc slammed the pillow back over his head, reminding himself who Valentino truly was, how he had looked Marc in the eye and laughed with-- at him before dropping the guillotine.
No more rose goggles.
"Mm," Marc hummed, feigning disinterest as best he could, turning back to face the track only for Valentino to saunter up beside him.
"Not as good as you were, though," Vale bit with a cold smile, arms folded across his middle, "Your confidence went with your youth, eh?"
As if he had plucked the thoughts from Marc's very mind. It was all words, just words thrown about to-- Marc was unsure what for; they were meaningless. He was fast, everybody knew it.
But... there was that nagging feeling again- that doubt that Valentino could conjure so well.
Marc licked and bit his lip, conscious of the man beside him, his body rigid and anxious- braced to flee. He forced his shoulders into a shrug, willing his muscles loose.
"Not retired, though," It was a weak snap of his jaws, a pathetic dig to show he would not take it lying down, proof that he was no longer that naive fan Vale once knew.
Valentino huffed in his dangerous, sardonic way- Marc thought of the press conferences, everybody in the room seeming to know something Marc did not, Marc smiling obliviously, stupidly as Vale tore into him, sharp teeth flashing for the cameras.

A Ghost of Yourself Chapter 2
Chapter 2 - Flying Solo
---
Danny had lost track of the time quickly after beginning to fly, his stress ebbing away with the landscape that spend by. He tried to focus on the grass, the roads, the horizon, anything but what had just transpired. Every time his mind wondered; he would be reminded that he needed to not feel. His friends' face as he took off — nope, not thinking about it. How worried Jazz would be — what a really cool tree I just passed. His parents’ confusion and not getting to say goodbye to anyone — that is a lot of white vans up a head. Wait… Danny stopped midair above a state highway. Similar to a police barricade, white vans, jeeps, and motorcycles were stationed in the middle of the street. Guys in White were stopping the passing cars, scanning them, then letting vehicles through the state border. Lines were beginning to form and angry honks floating up to him. This isn't good… Danny fished for his burner phone, feeling for the metal at the bottom of his backpack. Digging it out, the clock read 12:45. He had left Casper high during lunch, which had been around 11:30, and he had left Amity around 11:40. Good to know it takes less than an hour for the Goons in White to make a move. He floated closer to the cars to see if anyone had a Wi-Fi spot open. I should've grabbed the Fenton GPS from the emergency OPS center, finally a Wi-Fi signal popped up under the name __Not_The_FBI__. Danny choked on a laugh as he pulled open his map app. He was going to need to avoid every joke and pun on this trip, or he was a dead man. Well, a deader man… wait! Bad brain! He yelled at himself. He had to be less than a five-minute flight from Chicago. Zooming in, he looked for a train station or a ferry… and there was a train station used for hauling cargo from the US into Canada.
“Perfect!” Danny exclaimed, pumping his fist into the air, only to hit something metal. Turning, Danny watched as a pristine white drone steadied itself in the air. Its camera focusing on him.
“Shit.” Danny turned to watch as the men below froze, then look to the sky. Spotting him immediately, he just waved as they began to take aim. Turning invisible and speeding away as round after round of ecto blasts lit up the sky. Nice going Fenton, he berated himself flying towards Chicago; I have two things I can't do: express emotion and use powers publicly. I've already done both! Like he thought it hadn't taken long to reach the station, gravely rails and signs directing conductors were sprawled throughout. He found an empty car, checked for any passerby, and phased inside. A flash of light leaking through the cracks as he returned to his human self. The darkened car was cold, with metal walls and doors. The floor was a kind of embossed metal, a crisscross pattern embellished the sheet metal.
“I should've brought a book or something.” he laughed tiredly to himself… “Damn it!” Danny yelled, banging his head on the car wall. It's probably best if I just sleep, I'll be over the state border by the time I wake up. He thought to himself, settling into a corner. Propping his backpack to use as a pillow, the cold had no effect on him as he drifted to sleep.
---
It had been a little over an hour since Danny had gone on the run. Sam and Tucker had decided to skip what was left of school and head straight home. It would be difficult to catch up with him, but they had to at least try, and every second that passed was a second wasted. They didn't have anything in mind for Danny being tracked so easily, but they would figure something out. They had to.
When Sam got home, her house was surrounded by GIW agents. Her parents stood at the door listening to a panicked Jack and Maddie. As she pushed her way to the front, she was able to make out some of what Danny's parents were saying.
“Please! Just let us make sure Phantom didn't leave anything here. Anything could be a clue to where he took Danny!” Maddie cried, Jack stood by her as she pleaded, an arm around her shoulder. Her parents shared a pained look as they tried to decide what to do.
“Maddie, we know your situation with ghosts is important. To your career and with your family,” her mother started softly, remaining in her polite and cheery tone. “But we can't risk involving Sammikins more than your son already has.”
“Not to mention when we let you search our home earlier during that wild goose chase! Left a large mess that our house cleaner had to pick up.” Her father chimed in, annoyed.
“We understand that, but we need every clue we can! Sam!” Jack shouted, seeing her as she entered the path leading to the door.
“Sammy get inside! You don't need to be pestered by agents as well.” Her dad called, ushering her inside the large house.
“Same, please! Have you heard anything from Danny? Is he with Tucker?” Maddie called, fighting the door as her mother tried to close it. Sam tried to calm down, closing her eyes and slowing her breath. Key word being tried.
“No! I haven't and neither has Tucker! So just leave the two of us alone and don't you dare try storming his house too!” she hollered, shoving the door fully closed. She sighed back sliding against the door.
“That's right Sammikins! Just because they risked their family with ghosts doesn't mean they can risk ours!” Her mother cheered.
“And sorry, Sammy, the house cleaner couldn't get to the second floor today, so your room's still a mess.” Her dad added.
“It's fine, dad. I'll clean it myself. Can I… Can I just be alone for a bit? Stressful day and all.” Sam mumbled, making her way upstairs.
“Of course, sweetie!” they answered, leaving Sam with herself. Once her parents were out of sight, she ran up the stairs. As she entered her room, she looked at the damage caused by the aforementioned goose chase. It looked like a storm had blown through, her bed and desk had their contents thrown about. Anything related to Danny had been pulled out. Ignoring the mess, she pulled over a chair to her closet and felt for the backpack taped to its ceiling. Once down she poured out its contents mentally checking everything was still there. Her clothes? Check. Money? Check. A letter? Sam pulled out the simple envelope that made an appearance in her bag. It was addressed to her, the whole thing crisp and clean. Inside a piece of notebook paper full of Danny's handwriting, nothing looked rushed, and it seemed he had prepared these in advance.
*Ring* *Ring*
Tucker’s face lit up her phone's lock screen, she answered the video call while reading the letter.
“Sam! Did you get home safe? I heard the GIW were swarming your house. Did you find a letter?”
He blurted, the room behind him burring as he moved.
“I'm fine, and I did. Did you get one too? Why would Danny write these?” She flipped the page to see if there was more, a hint to what he was thinking.
“I did, that was why I called you. Does yours say the same thing. Well, maybe not the exact same.” He rambled, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Shut up, Tuck! He wants us to stay in Amity? To abandon him and protect the town that barely cares he's here?” She exclaimed. Tucker nodded along from the camera.
“I know right? He's our best friend, we can't just let him be on the run!” Tucker ranted, “Can we? I mean, I know where he's coming from. We can't really trust his parents or the GIW to keep ghosts out. Valerie can handle her own, but she still hates ghosts. It will be hard for her to leave the neutral ones alone.”
“I don't know, Tuck, Danny even said we could tell Valerie his secret if things got out of hand and became too much for us and Jazz. I don't think he plans on coming home, at least not anytime soon.” she contemplated; there had to be something they could do. “What about other heroes?”
“What? What would they do?” Tucker asked.
“I'm not sure, I know we don't really keep up with stuff outside of Amity, but the Justice whatever works with the government, right? We could tell them our local hero is being unjustly hunted.” Sam suggested pacing the room.
“Sam, what will they find when they look into Phantom? That he's a wanted criminal, robbing banks, and threatening mayors? The media doesn't shine Danny in a good light.” He countered.
“But those can be explained, the GIW have files on Freakshow.”
“Didn't Danny wipe his memories with the Reality gauntlet? They couldn't get the whole truth, or they would learn his brain has been messed with through magic or martians.” They went back and forth.
“Then what do you propose we do? We can't track him down without others noticing.” Sam huffed in defeat.
“We'll just have to do what he asked of us. We'll watch over the town, if Valerie gets out of hand, we'll offer our help first. Say we helped Phantom with ghosts, Danny included. We can say Danny is protecting Phantom even now, and it will buy us some time to see if she can handle Danny's secret.” Tuck finished.
“She trusts Danielle, right? We might be able to convince her.” A moment hung in the air between the two friends. The reality settling in that they may never see their friend again. “Where is Danielle? She might get caught in the crossfire of this, being a clone and all.” Sam wondered.
“She's in Italy last I checked, I'm glad I gave her one of my old phones before she left the US.” Tucker answered.
“That's good… Which of us is telling Jazz?"
---
The train started to move shortly after Danny fell asleep. Four hours passed before Danny's body forced him awake, ghost hunting had ruined his sleep. He could hear Jazz's voice in his head talking about the importance of sleep for teens today. He checked the burner for the time and saw the numbers 6:05 glowing back at him. Pulling open the map he saw he had made it to Indiana, finally.
“Time to get moving, I guess.” As he spoke, he focused on keeping his voice even. The events of earlier, still fresh in his mind. The sound of the car's rolling wheels echoed in the empty car as he stood. Stretching to pop his back. He stuck his head invisibly through the train door, seeing the cargo station grow closer. Bringing his head back in, he readied to slip off the train. Steadying himself as the train arrived, opening the door, and running through the train yard as fast as he could without getting caught. It had been easier than expected, no one cared, as the teen bolted through the gravel-filled rails with ease. Once outside, he went searching for food. A mini mart was on the corner and a King Burger across the street. He couldn't risk lingering, so he made way for the minimart. The convenience store felt dated with white walls and neon signs, the floor was black and gray checkered tiles. Grabbing some water bottles, bags of jerky, and some premade sandwiches. The many sweets and freezy drinks were tempting, but the longer the food could last, the better. The place was deserted, only the clerk scrolling on his phone could witness he was ever there. After finishing his resource gathering, Danny went on the hunt for a gray hound bus stop, it would be the easiest way to get around without drawing too much attention. Looking for the longest possible route to the East Coast, he was left with two options: Gotham or Metropolis. Both had international ports and superheroes that protected them. He had always meant to look into other heroes more, find some inspiration or role models for hero work, but with ghosts constantly attacking the town and homework, he just didn't have time. Mr. Lancer tried to keep class interesting by referencing the things happening on the global news. Now if he could only remember what he had said about the heroes protecting the cities. Danny had actually perked up when Lancer mentioned that one was an alien with super hearing and other abilities. Aside from that, all he could remember was their names, Batman and Superman. I'm feeling a lot better about my hero name. He would have to give Amity News a break about Invis-O-Bill. Between the two, he was pretty sure Superman was the alien. Sam had done a report on meta-human rights and had gotten very passionate when she discovered that they didn't reference the ecto acts whatsoever. She had been so sure that someone would shed light on the act, accounting it to being unknown meta-humans being unjustly removed of their rights. A point she got stuck on was that Batman had all but banned metas from Gotham. Stating they should seek sanctuary elsewhere due to the antics of his villains. It had something to do with gas, scarecrows, and clowns? So, he could either go to the city where no powers were allowed, or the city protected by a super-hearing alien. The GIW might expect him to go to an alien for sympathy or to overshadow him in a power grab. Gotham seemed like the safer choice, even with the high amounts of criminal activity they seemed to have. He would be able to fight off most thugs without causing serious damage, humans can't normally through a guy through a brick wall like ghosts can. No one would question him being alone and sneaking around, he'd use his powers to get on a boat for Europe and keep a low profile while he searched for Danielle. He'd fill her in on what was going on, send a message to Sam and Tucker that he was safe, and wait to hear what was happening in Amity. So, Danny waited in line and got his ticket for Gotham. The bus was crowded full of people trying to do the same as him; to take a bus as far from one's old life as possible. He was able to grab a seat towards the back, settling into the stained fabric seats. His backpack between himself and the wall of the bus window. Settling in for the longest stretch of his journey out of the country.
Hello and welcome again! I hope everyone is enjoying the story. It’s been very exciting getting to see everyone’s comments and enjoyment for the fic. Don’t worry about the lack of Bat family, I am getting their as fast as I can. I wanted to revisit Amity a little bit to wrap up a few loose ends. I’m not sure at what point in the DP timeline I am placing this, but it will most likely either be prefinal of the show or post A Glitch in Time. Two very different time periods but both work with the general DC timeline I am using. As for the Bat family I’m more familiar with the characters themselves than the canon timeline. So, I’ll primarily be referring to the Batman: Family Adventures for the family and Young Justice for world events such as meta-humans.
I spent a lot of my time working on this listening to the Epic: Underworld Saga musical concept and got stuck on the song No Longer You. It’s so good and feels like it could fit Danny in some aspects if you go for a post A Glitch in Time ghost king Danny. Might draw something if I got time.
See you next week, byee!

simon riley x original character.
trigger warnings: violence, sexual assault, mentions of rape, trauma, sexual themes, swearing, use of alcohol and drugs.
song to listen to when reading this: Carmen: Habanera, Georges Bizet.
abstract: this is what I usually do when I work, which is killing people and getting annoyed at my subordinates. in case you're dumb enough not to have noticed, this is Simon. anyway, technical boring chapter, but a few important informations you should keep in mind…. it's gonna get messy, try to keep up.
'ETA is ten minutes.'
Jude had her arms crossed on her chest, her eyes were scanning the screens. There was a lot to take in. She could see the body cams footage, along with which soldier the camera belonged to. They were sitting in two separate cars, guns below their feet. Some were talking to each other. At some point, one of them turned and the Lieutenant appeared on video. He was looking ahead of him, arms crossed on his chest, silent and stoic. She looked away. She could see the weather radars, and the GPS on the remote control cars that were about to be sent ahead.
'India 0-1, this is Alpha 0-1, whether status check, over'. Alpha was the captain, she had gathered. 'Alpha 0-1, this is India 0-1…' she paused for a second 'weather is stable, nothing to report, over.' She knew by now everyone was listening to what she was saying. She kept a serious tone of voice. 'India 0-1, roger that, out.' Simon thought she was pretty good at this. She sounded like she had been doing it forever. How was she good at everything all the time? The car he was sitting in came to a halt, they prepared the two remote control vehicles to send in before them. Securing the two drones on top, one of his teammates spoke into his radio. 'India 0-1, it's Charlie 0-2, RC cars moving in, out.' Alba adjusted the screen to see it better, even thought it was still blank. There was silence for a few seconds, they were waiting for the vehicles to get in position. 'India, check status with Eagle 0-3 before we sent out the drones, out.' She heard Price speak again out of nowhere, which made her jump in her seat. 'Alpha, I'm checking now, out.' She quickly switched channels to communicate with the airplane. 'Eagle 0-3, this is India 0-1 last check before the drones are sent out, over.' The reply was instant. 'Nothing to report, all clear' that was what they said and what she repeated to the captain. 'Roger that, you should have vision in a few minutes.' She waited patiently, until on her smaller monitor appeared the live video from the drones, which got to the middle of the crater. One was gonna stay at a good altitude, giving her visual of the whole base, the other would slightly come down to try and identify Khorram. She wondered for a second if Arash was there with them… He had vanished, he never came back to the base and everyone assumed he was in the Middle East right now…
'India, you got visual?' She snapped back to reality. Focus. 'Positive.' Simon proceeded to start his climb with Soap and Rabbit. He was on the North side. The crater started getting steep once they approached the top, the air was hot and it had gotten more windy. Sand was in his eyes. He already felt sweat prickle down his back, his mask didn't help with ventilation. 'India 0-1, this is Bravo 0-2. We're in position. How copy?' He waited for Johnny to approach him, they would take down two of Khorram's men at the same time, the ones guarding the perimeter. On the East side, the Alpha team would do the same with the third one. 'Bravo 0-2, copy loud and clear' he heard her sweet voice ring in his ear though the headphones. 'Wait for Alpha team, I'll update you.' He felt a knot in his stomach form for a second. 'They're not in position yet?' he asked. 'They're still climbing, it's much steeper on their side'. He rolled his eyes, positioning himself between two rocks and adjusting his sniper in place with the silencer. 'You still have good visual?' he spoke again. He was just making sure everything was going well, no harm in that. Without the captain, he was the one in charge after all. 'I do', she simply replied, clearly not wanting to be questioned. 'Let me know when they're close…' she didn't respond. 'India 0.1, how copy?' Why do you have to be annoying even when I'm working on the other side of the world? 'Loud and clear, Bravo 0-2'.
He heard a chuckle. She heard it too. In sync, him in the middle of the desert, her in an office in America, they both turned their heads to the source of the laughter. Squatting behind the Lieutenant was Rabbit. She looked at Simon's body cam, which was partly turned towards him. He had a grin on his face. I can get you killed from over here, the fuck you laughing for? 'Sorry, India 0-1… you can say other words apart from loud and clear, you know?' She felt her cheeks go red. She cleared her throat before replying 'I'll say splendid if I'm in trouble.' She switched off, letting out a sigh. I don't even know you, shut the fuck up. She almost didn't pay attention enough to ear Simon tell off Rabbit, telling him to be quiet. Fortunately, Alpha team had reached position. The execution of the three snipers was relatively easy for Ghost and the others. The real deal was getting down without getting caught. 'Alpha 0-1 to all stations, start to climb down. Don't make a sound.' Her palms started sweating hearing Price pronounce those words. She focused on the screens that showed the images of the drones. 'India, tell us what you see', instructed the captain. 'There are three tents on the East side, I count four South side, in semicircle. There is a bonfire in the middle, I count… four men around. Armed.' She tried to be as clear as possible. 'One of the tents on the southern side is bigger than the others. There are two pick up trucks that could give cover to the Bravo team.' She added. 'Our man?' asked an unknown voice, 'I don't see him', she replied. She squinter her eyes to see better, the four men were standing around the fire, which was the only source of light, a part form the headlights of the two vehicles. 'India, status?', asked the captain again. 'They're not moving, they're talking…' she replied 'I see one person inside the pick-up on your right, Bravo team, on the drivers side.' 'Copy that', it was Simon who spoke. He nearly tripped on a branch he din't see. He didn't see it because it was fucking pitch black outside. Now that they were closer to the crater's centre, he could see the fire and the trucks, their engines were on. Staying low, ready to fire his gun, he kept moving. 'India, status?' 'They haven't noticed anything. No one else has left the tents… I think they have two bikes…'
'You think?!' Shit.
'No sir, I'm sure', get your shit together Alba, 'they're covered by a blanket, they're definitely motorbikes. Behind the tent with the snake print, west side.'
It all went to shit extremely fast. He would later learn it went to shit because some dickhead from Alpha team slipped on wet grass and made noise and one of the soldiers heard him. Un-fucking-believable. They approached the truck and hid behind it, ready to take down the driver. It would take Simon a bit of knife work to do it silently. What they heard next sent chills down their spines. 'Alpha team, you got one coming towards you, he heard something.' Jude's words were sharp. They had been compromised. Shots were fired before he could give any orders to his men. Jude started seeing the body cams images getting confused and erratic, they were running and covering the camera with their rifles. Simon realised he had to move when he heard screams in a different language. He quickly took down the driver, preparing to attack. The Alpha team didn't have any coverage, they were far and exposed, still at the side of the crater. 'Use the tents as coverage, Khorram's inside they're not gonna shoot!' He heard Jude's voice over the noise. Preoccupied and scared. Told you this wasn't the place for you sweet angel… He was able to shoot one of the four men around the fire, but things were moving at a faster pace then they'd imagined. 'Bravo team, the tent to your right, something's going on inside', Jude alerted them. 'Ghost cover me!' He turned around to see Johnny peek around his corner, he wanted to go check the tent. Simon quickly did what he asked. He could see the Alpha team peeking out from the side of the tents, they wouldn't last long for sure, they were extremely close to the bonfire.
'Jude do you see him?'
'Alpha 0-3 is down!'
'I see him!' Simon got out of his precious hiding spot right the second Jude spoke. He disarmed one of the remaining men, using his knife to finish the job. Glancing to his left he spotted his teammate on the ground, saw Gaz running towards them. 'Go, I'll take him!' He turned away, 'Jude where to?' he asked. He could see his surroundings better now that the bonfire was close. He didn't wait for the girl to answer him, cause Johnny appeared from inside the tent. He heard an engine start. No… 'The bikes, three of them heading south-west.' They wasted no time, but the bikes were already climbing up the mountain.
You see, they did get him in the end. Rabbit took one of the trucks and provided coverage to the others, he basically run over half the camp. Price was the one who shot Khorram in the shoulder. Two other men died, one was captured. Alpha 0-3, his name was Thomas, he made it alive. They got out of the crater and back to the cars. Jude's voice was in their ears. 'All stations, I see a sandstorm approaching your position, you should hurry up' and 'Positive ID on the target' or 'You got troops approaching from north-east'. They weren't the only ones listening to her. When Thomas was shot in the crater his headphones basically flew away when his head hit the ground. Gaz didn't even bother taking them, he just got his friend on his shoulders to carry him away… Two men were in the crater not even ten minutes after they had left. They saw the fire, the blood. They saw the devastation the truck left and the motorbikes scattered on the ground. Most importantly, they saw the headphones. One of them put them close to his ear, to see if he could hear a conversation. And he could. 'Bravo 0-1, this is Alpha 0-2, we're right behind you, out.'
'Alpha 0-2, status on Alpha 0-3, over.'
'Bravo 0-1, stable condition. India 0-1, word from the aircraft?'
'This is India 0-1 to all stations, you're clear to go.'
The man with the headset turned his head to look at the other. That voice. He recognised her. She spoke again, he couldn't believe his ears. She spoke one last time, he felt rage. Then someone, Bravo 0-1, called her by her name. Four damned letters, a death sentence. You shouldn't have said that, brother…
I know who Jude is.
