For Ukrainian soldiers facing the near-constant threat of Russian drones, a crude-looking, pocketable drone detector has become one of the most sought-after gadgets on the battlefield. Dubbed Tsukorok, or “sugar,” by its London-based creator, the grassroots device produced by a variety of manufacturers beeps loudly when a drone enters its detection range, allowing soldiers time to run to cover or turn on their jamming devices.
“It’s amazing because it is so cheap and simple,” a mortar crewman, currently positioned in the Donbas region, said of the Tsukorok. He, like all soldiers cited in this article, spoke to Foreign Policy on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the press.
More than two years into Russia’s war in Ukraine, the Russian military still enjoys the upper hand in electronic warfare. “The Russians have powerful electronic warfare equipment. … Unfortunately, Russia is significantly ahead of Ukraine,” Ukrainian activist Maria Berlinska told Ukrainska Pravda in April. Berlinska was instrumental in pushing the Ukrainian military to develop its own drone capabilities and has trained soldiers and civilians to fly reconnaissance and attack drones.
On Ukraine’s front line, electronic warfare has largely focused on the ability to use and defend from reconnaissance and strike drones as well as long-range missiles. Small, agile first-person-view (FPV) drones, which can carry between 2 and 11 pounds of explosives, are now used extensively by both sides. The ability to detect and jam the signals sent and received by those drones is a matter of life and death.
The Russian military has successfully used elaborate truck-mounted jamming systems to reduce the effectiveness of Western-made, GPS-guided artillery shells as well as HIMARS and JDAM guided bombs, the Washington Post reported in May. More recently, Moscow has used armored vehicles and tanks mounted with jamming devices to push across the front line.
Now, with the sky on the front line saturated with drones, Ukraine is attempting to catch up. That often means employing simpler, more inexpensive equipment with smaller ranges, such as the Tsukorok, to detect signals coming from Russian drones and other guided weapons. More than 50 Ukrainian companies are engaged in producing electronic warfare equipment, from the humble Tsukorok to expensive jamming devices. Tens of thousands of drones are also produced or assembled in the country every month.
But the detection gadgets are hard to obtain. “Right now, I think the demand [for jamming equipment] is at least 10 times higher than what we can provide,” said Bohdan Danyliv, the head of the military department at the Prytula Foundation, one of the biggest organizations supporting the Ukrainian military. “Honestly, it may be 50 times bigger.” The Prytula Foundation already delivers equipment including SUVs, strike drones, rifle optics, communication, and medical equipment to the armed forces. In recent months, the organization has looked to ramp up deliveries of electronic warfare devices.
“Yes, it’s difficult right now,” said Dmytro Selin, the London-based Ukrainian software engineer behind the first model of the Tsukorok. “Deliveries [of parts for manufacturing] aren’t reliable. Parcels can get stuck for weeks at a time. … Demand is a lot higher than our team can handle.”
Soldiers and the Ukrainian companies producing electronic warfare equipment must also deal with the ever-changing nature of electronic warfare. “Both the technologies and the tactics evolve very quickly,” said Anton Veklenko, the chief instructor and co-founder of Global Drone Academy, a Ukrainian company training Ukrainian civilians and soldiers in the use of military drones and electronic warfare.
Since 2022, electronic warfare has quickly made GPS guidance, which most off-the-shelf consumer drones use to navigate, obsolete. Both sides now deploy drones that act as relays to increase the flying range of their FPV drones to distances of up to 31 miles. Russia and Ukraine have also each experimented with autonomous guidance systems, allowing drones to strike their targets even when their signals jammed.
“We also train our pilots to detect which frequencies are being jammed in a specific area of the front line so that they can quickly change the frequencies used to fly their drones,” Veklenko said. “There’s no universal jammer that can block everything, so it’s a constant game of adaptation.”
The rise in popularity of the Tsukorok in late 2023, boosted by positive word of mouth from a Ukrainian military blogger, represents one of these adaptations. The constant threat of drones created the need for a small detector that could be used by any soldier without the training that more accurate and reliable—but also more complex—spectrum analyzers require. Selin, who moved to the United Kingdom in 2019, developed the first prototype in the summer of 2022, focusing at the time on detecting signals from the Russian Orlan reconnaissance drone.
Front-line troops use the Tsukorok to know when to turn on their energy-intensive jamming devices; artillery crewmen think of it as a last-resort warning, allowing them to run to prepared shelters as loitering munitions hurl toward them. A combat medic currently serving in the Kharkiv region explained that he always leaves a Tsukorok in his olive-colored ambulance: “I use it as a guide, to know when to use the jammer.”
The surge in demand put Selin and other groups building the device in a bind, as they went from producing a handful of detectors every month to hundreds, and then thousands, facing hurdles to scale up production. “I’m in talks with manufacturers and governments in Europe, but it is complicated, in good parts because of the bureaucracy,” Selin said. “But now we’re looking to diversify as much as possible,” with a goal of producing up to 10,000 detectors every month. Currently, half of the parts of the Tsukorok are produced in China and half in Ukraine; the final product is assembled in Ukraine.
“When it comes to the production of [electronic warfare] equipment, the situation right now is similar to what we had with FPV drones a year and a half ago,” said Danyliv of the Prytula Foundation. There is an “unstructured market, few established players, and a mix of bad devices that can cost a lot of money and high-quality devices that cannot be produced in enough quantities to meet the demand.”
The Tsukorok isn’t a miracle solution, Selin admitted: It can lose effectiveness in areas saturated with drones and is meant to complement, rather than replace, other detecting and jamming devices. “It is meant as a last warning device, but on the battlefield, soldiers will get information from lots of other sources,” Selin said.
“I call them personal protectors—it’s something that every soldier should have,” Danyliv said. “It won’t solve everything, but when you have one of those things in your pocket, you feel a lot calmer.”

so the actual video says nothing about our actual defensive capabilities aside from the fact we have field guns and reccie drones so i guess its up to me.
could we defend ourselves from a motivated hostile force?
short answer: No
the artillery shown in the video is massively obsolescent. they are short range 105mm field guns designed to be the cheap option in the 70s and are now being phased out of every major military. don't get me wrong they are decent guns and putting in work in ukraine as long as ammo is available but everyone is switching to the 155mm purely for the ability to use smart rounds. we can fire 105mm all day long but one precision gps guided 155mm is going to solve the problem a lot faster. or a mine laying round or a top attack vehicle hunter. none of which the 105mm is capable of firing.
but also we have no fighter jets. we have no tanks. we have fuck all air defence. we have fuck all anti tank guided munitions. we have none of the proven means to halt an invader long enough for allies to come to our aid. in every military deployment we've ever been in we've largely relied on allies for heavy equipment.
but also who would even bother to invade us? we're chill with aus who is our only neighbour big enough to try. everyone else is too small and also they like us for the most part. the only credibly threat is china and even then thats a one in a million chance. granted they are getting bolder with provoking their neighbours but there's an awful lot of island hopping between them and us.
but then watch in a year or two when national starts banging on about china when they want bribes for refurbishing the military

Dead Carnations
Wc: 972
Tw: Vague descriptions of gore/dissected corpse, s/i getting choked out by Lawrence, inspired by this web weave
Where I come from, five hours of driving will take you from one end of the country to the other. Just like that. Here, it seemed like it barely made a difference at all. The Western world was vast, and I was a tiny speck in it.
My phone’s torchlight flashed white through the thicket. Only a tiny sliver of the bar was left. I had no signal. The dark boughs of old trees bowed down, their leaves green and wet with rain. Dew glistened back at me. From all around, the endless drone of the insects.
All that work to earn my driver’s licence. Many years more of proving to myself I was capable, sensible-like.
I shouldn’t have trusted that GPS tracker. Cheap thing. That capricious little blue line, chopping and changing on a whim. It swerved me into narrow, forgotten lanes, up steep and winding paths, and they all spilled into the middle of bum-fuck nowwhere. Guided by dim, narrow lamps, I’d lost all sense of direction and was soon sent careening off into the unknown. But, a little voice whispered, you trying to use a map would have been worse. The engine gave up the ghost soon after that, so neither would be of much use to me now.
No. If I was really sensible, I would’ve waited until the morning when the sun could break through the blackness and shine like a beacon down the trail.
I didn’t do that. Now, where was my car? Where was I?
There was a Compass App. Right. But to the North and South and West and East of me were all trees. I could’ve brought that up earlier, too. As I pushed through, I was careful to watch my footing. The forest floor was slick and slippery, and sticks snapped under the weight of my boots. From above, I heard the rattling of the branches, gnarled wooden fingers scraping at each other. The dense canopy overhead blocked me from the glitter of the starlight. My initial plan was to cut through here on my way to a little garage I’d driven past. I didn’t trust that isolated road. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation that led to such strange conclusions. Natural selection, more like.
An instinct far more primal than fear was spilling into me, like a leak of blood in the brain. My knees wanted to crumple and give up beneath, and so did I. But I forced myself to keep walking. What choice did I have? Desperately, I swivelled my light around and searched for some breach in the thicket, an outpour that might lead to a path. Nervous tremors made my phone’s torch quiver uneasily. People could sign papers and say they owned this land, but the land owned itself.
Then, I vaguely picked up the noise of rushing water, a tinkling like tiny bells over rocks - what a pretty sound. I felt my pulse surge with excitement. Low hanging branches whacked at my shins as I moved towards it, and the cool Summer wind was tugging impatiently at my hair, telling me to look, come and see.
I stumbled into a moonlit clearing, and there it was waiting for me.
Pearly white, arced out in long, elegant teeth. Blossoming from it in a deep red bouquet - poppies, carnations, roses. Set off by ribbons, pink and shiny. Hung from the natural arch formed by two trees, just like a tapestry. I could see the silver glint of the wire.
When I paused to take in a breath, the smell of flowers I had expected was dashed by the rotten stench of corruption, and an iron, coppery odour.
At first, I did not comprehend it. I did not want to.
There was a bucket sat beneath it. I heard the steady drip, drip, drip of liquid hitting the bottom. Tarp laid out, black-blue, tools of some description. Gleaming sharply, all in a row. Everything scented metal. Flying things buzzed clouds of dust, twirling in circles. They were making a sort of halo around its head.
I drifted closer, the grass soft, muffling my steps. I turned off the light from my phone, and watched as the red became black. Standing still, I pondered on the shape of it. Almost human; but if it ever was, then it was no longer. My heart was pulsing in my ribcage and— those were ribs, bones, twisted up, bleached white in macabre splendour. In the dark I saw.
My body felt ungainly and sluggish, like it did in nightmares; maybe this was one, yes, it had to be… Calm and panicked all at once, I staggered back into the woods, now the safest place to be, out of sight from the baleful eye of the moon. The cry of insects was ringing in my ears, the whole forest thrumming with the neverending rhythm of eat, mate, die. My breaths multiplied and became two, and then heavier footfalls reached my ears. I snapped my head around to the breaking of a twig from three long strides away.
There was a tall figure lurching towards me out from the shadows. The sound of his nervous panting was so loud I did not hear my own scream.
My back hit the rough bark of a tree. The stranger clamped his fingers around my throat, squeezing out oxygen until black bugs crawled into my vision. “No, no, no,” he was muttering, his eyes like two lights from an oncoming car about to hit a deer. “You can’t…” And I couldn’t, couldn’t breathe… Suffocating, I raked my nails along the flannel, gouging cold flesh, grasping at the hands that tightened painfully on my neck… His knuckles were wet with a slickness that I knew, with sudden and astonishing clarity, to be blood.
And then I knew no more.

US Agricultural Drone Market: Current Analysis and Forecast (2024-2032)
According to a new report by UnivDatos Market Insights, the U.S. Agricultural Drone Market is expected to reach USD million by 2032 by growing at a CAGR of ~23%.
Agricultural drones have in the recent past been the most radical development in the farming industry in the United States in terms of response to challenges of farming as well as resources used in farming. These UAVs are now revolutionizing farming practices, crop management, yield, and of course, cost control. With a continuously increasing number of farmers and producers requiring precision agriculture, the use of agricultural drones in the United States is on the rise and has lately featured prominently in the media for the likelihood of promoting sustainability and efficiency.
Precision Agriculture: The Spine of Drone Systems
New areas that have helped drive the use of agricultural drones are precision agriculture which is the use of innovation in farming. Since drones operate as flying sensors and provide first-hand information on crop conditions it is easier for farmers to determine when to irrigate or fertilize the crops, or possibly use pesticides. In the U.S., huge fields as the fundamentals of the farming industry these drones assist with controlling the huge acres of territories functionally.
Multispectral cameras on drones can shoot images and the colors of the light will tell the health of plants. Knowing stress factors, for example, drought or pest attack on crops, farmers can address those areas more effectively without having to waste water, fertilizers, or pesticides. It not only helps to decrease the operating expenses but also contributes to the development of equitable and ecologically sustainable agriculture undertakings.
Higher Usage as the Demand for Online Marketing Intensifies
The U.S. agricultural drone market is recording impressive growth because of the growing need for sophisticated, efficient solutions for farming. Current information implies that the demand for agricultural drones in the United States is likely to rise at more than a 15% CAGR during the next five years. This is owing to the increase in the demand for high accuracy in planting, lack of adequate labor, and increased concern about the environmentally friendly methods of farming.
Especially, big farming businesses are likely to enjoy the drone advances because it helps them oversee their produce more efficiently, and gather a ton of data. Even mere smallholder farmers have embraced the innovation since cheap models and easy-to-use software are also available in the market. With more farmers succeeding in making the right decisions to purchase drones, the rate at which this hardware will be used will increase, driving the growth of the market even more rapidly.
The authorities’ participation and the legal environment
The U.S. government has shifted the support of drone use in the agricultural sector by offering the necessary regulations that will favor the use of UAVs. Also, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been at the forefront in advocating for the use of precision agriculture technologies like drones among farmers. The USDA has also supported farmers requesting funds to enhance these technologies and drive the agricultural drone market.

Modern agricultural drones have everything from GPS and thermal sensors to machine learning that can analyze crop data on the go. These innovations accurately capture the mapping, crop monitoring, and analysis to assist farmers to increase production effectiveness, while reducing wastage.
There has been advancement, especially in the use of artificial intelligence in drone technology. This kind of drone contains artificial intelligence, which can help them to analyze crop conditions, as well as foresee such problems in advance.
Conclusion
Drone farming as a concept has gradually been making headway in the U.S., thanks in part to innovative companies. By making real-time crop observation and resource management possible, drones are the key to elevating the efficiency of farming techniques known as precision agriculture. With an increased number of people embracing the use of drones and with the developments that have made drones have better capabilities in the future, the agricultural drone market stands a good chance of becoming the next big thing in the future of farming in the United States. The continued support of the governments and increasing recognition of the advantages of this technology may help agricultural drones change and improve the agriculture industry, thus allowing American farmers to meet the needs of tomorrow with intensified competition on the international level.

How Are Drones Changing Search And Rescue?
Drones are doing some pretty amazing things, and when it comes to search and rescue (SAR), they’re proving to be total game-changers. We’re talking about faster response times, better data collection, and even saving lives in situations that were too dangerous for humans to handle alone. Let’s dive into how drones are taking SAR operations to the next level.
Speedy Deployment
One of the biggest advantages drones bring to search and rescue missions is their speed. When every second counts, drones can be in the air within minutes, offering an aerial view while ground teams are still gearing up. You don’t have to wait for helicopters or worry about terrain that’s tough to navigate. Drones can zip through forests, mountains, or urban areas in a flash, covering large areas quickly and efficiently. In short: they make searching faster, and in SAR, faster can mean the difference between life and death.
Eyes Everywhere
Another huge win for drones in search and rescue is their ability to provide real-time video from hard-to-reach places. Let’s say you’re searching for a hiker who’s lost deep in the wilderness or someone trapped after an earthquake. Drones can fly over these areas and stream live footage, showing SAR teams exactly where to go or what obstacles lie ahead. This kind of bird’s-eye view wasn’t possible before without risking people’s lives or using expensive helicopters. With drones, you’re getting clear, detailed information without putting anyone in harm’s way.
Thermal Imaging: Seeing The Unseen
Now let’s talk about thermal imaging. This is where drones really get next-level. Many SAR drones are equipped with thermal cameras that can detect body heat, even in the dark. This is super useful for finding people at night, in dense forests, or during bad weather. Thermal imaging can literally be the difference between finding someone who’s hypothermic and unconscious or missing them entirely. Whether it’s a lost child, stranded hiker, or someone buried under rubble, drones can spot their heat signature and lead rescuers straight to them.
Access To Dangerous Areas
Some environments are just too risky for humans to enter safely. Think collapsed buildings, unstable cliffs, or flood zones. Drones can fly into these hazardous zones, giving rescuers a look at what’s happening without putting anyone in harm’s way. They can even be used to drop supplies like medical kits, water, or survival gear to people who can’t be reached immediately. It’s like having a trusty sidekick in the air, ready to assist wherever needed.
Search And Rescue Drones: Small But Mighty
Don’t let their size fool you. SAR drones are small, but they pack a punch when it comes to performance. Modern drones have incredible flight times, high-quality cameras, GPS tracking, and more. This makes them a perfect fit for quick, effective rescue missions. They’re also relatively cheap compared to traditional SAR equipment. Helicopters and manned flights are expensive, and they take a lot of time to organize. With drones, you can get the job done faster and more affordably, making it accessible even for smaller SAR teams.
Data Collection And Mapping
Drones are also great at gathering data and creating detailed maps. This is super helpful in large-scale SAR operations, like after natural disasters. They can fly over an area and use their onboard sensors to generate 3D maps, giving rescuers a better understanding of the terrain and where people might be trapped. These maps can be shared instantly with other team members, so everyone’s on the same page and knows where to focus their efforts.
Ending Note
If you’re serious about enhancing your search and rescue capabilities, the AUTEL EVO MAX 4T from MAVDRONES is the drone you need in your toolkit. Drones are reshaping how search and rescue teams work. They’re fast, efficient, and provide crucial data without risking human lives. And with the AUTEL EVO MAX 4T, you’ll have the ultimate tool to help save lives.

AI is helping shape the 2024 presidential race. But not in the way experts feared (AP) With the 2024 election looming, the first since the mass popularization of generative artificial intelligence, experts feared the worst: social media flooded with AI-generated deepfakes that were so realistic, baffled voters wouldn’t know what to believe. So far, that hasn’t happened. Instead, what voters are seeing is far more absurd: A video of former President Donald Trump riding a cat while wielding an assault rifle. A mustachioed Vice President Kamala Harris dressed in communist attire. Trump and Harris sharing a passionate embrace. AI is playing a major role in the presidential campaign, even if the greatest fears about how it could threaten the U.S. presidential election haven’t materialized yet. Fake AI-generated images regularly ricochet around the web, but many of them are so cartoonish and absurd that even the most naïve viewer couldn’t take them seriously. The speed and accessibility of generative AI tools make it easy to create outlandish political content that can drive clicks and likes. With AI image generators accessible to anyone with an internet connection, they are a cheap and convenient way for campaigns to respond to online trends and hammer home a message.
Electronic Warfare Spooks Airlines, Pilots and Air-Safety Officials (WSJ) American Airlines Capt. Dan Carey knew his cockpit equipment was lying to him when an alert began blaring “pull up!” as his Boeing 777 passed over Pakistan in March—at an altitude of 32,000 feet, far above any terrain. The warning stemmed from a kind of electronic warfare that hundreds of civilian pilots encounter each day: GPS spoofing. The alert turned out to be false but illustrated how fake signals that militaries use to ward off drones and missiles are also permeating growing numbers of commercial aircraft, including U.S. airlines’ international flights. Pilots, aviation-industry officials and regulators said spoofed Global Positioning System signals are spreading beyond active conflict zones near Ukraine and the Middle East, confusing cockpit navigation and safety systems and taxing pilots’ attention in commercial jets carrying passengers and cargo. The attacks started affecting a large number of commercial flights about a year ago, pilots and aviation experts said. The number of flights affected daily has surged from a few dozen in February to more than 1,100 in August.
Hurricane John strikes Mexico’s southern Pacific coast with ‘life-threatening’ flood potential’ (AP) Hurricane John struck Mexico’s southern Pacific coast with life-threatening flood potential after growing into a major hurricane in a matter of hours. It came ashore near the town of Punta Maldonado late Monday night as a Category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph (190 kph). John’s rapid intensification made authorities rush to keep pace and warn people of its potential destruction. By early Tuesday, John had weakened to a Category 2 hurricane with 100 mph (160 kph) maximum sustained winds, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. It was expected to batter Punta Maldonado and the nearby tourist hubs Acapulco and Puerto Escondido before being weakened over the high terrain inland.
López Obrador changed Mexico (Washington Post) At his 2018 inauguration, Andrés Manuel López Obrador declared that he wasn’t just ushering in a new government—he would be bringing a “political regime change.” He said he would attack corruption and impunity, reverse decades of neoliberal policies that favored the wealthy, and end a war on drugs that had turned Mexico into a cauldron of violence. Six years later, López Obrador is leaving office with some of the highest presidential approval ratings in the world. Yet for all his popularity, analysts say, he failed to transform Mexico in many of the ways he pledged. Corruption and impunity remain rampant. Organized-crime groups control wide swaths of the country’s territory. And while he vowed to overturn the neoliberal policies of his predecessors, he maintained Mexico’s free-market system and shrank the bureaucracy. What he did change was Mexicans’ relationship with their political institutions. When López Obrador took office, just 29 percent of Mexicans said they had faith in their national government, according to a Gallup poll. By 2023, that had jumped to 61 percent—twice as high as in the United States.
Tit-for-tat arrest warrants (Foreign Policy) Venezuela’s attorney general, Tarek Saab, asked Interpol on Tuesday to issue an arrest warrant for Argentine President Javier Milei. Caracas has accused Milei of committing seven crimes, including robbery and money laundering, for the seizure of a Venezuelan cargo plane in Buenos Aires in June 2022. Argentina has dismissed Venezuela’s claims. “What a dictatorial government such as the one in Venezuela says does not concern us in the least,” Argentine presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni said. Just hours after Venezuela’s court order, an Argentine federal court ordered the immediate arrest on Monday of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his interior minister, Diosdado Cabello, for alleged crimes against humanity committed against dissidents since 2014.
Irish centenarians share the secrets of their long lives (The Journal) A landmark Irish study has explored the lives of Irish centenarians. Strong family and social connections, a sense of purpose and innate resilience were some of the common threads linking the centenarians interviewed for the paper, which has just been published in the Journal of Aging Studies. Dr Alison Fagan, a lecturer in nursing at the Technological University of the Shannon, who led the research, believes the centenarians have much to teach our ageing society about the importance of social connection and of fostering a positive and accepting outlook on life as more of us live longer. Another common outlook among the centenarians was a strong sense of purpose in life. For many, this started in their formative years with their work on the family farm. Many continued with work or other activities in later adulthood, by developing new skills, childminding, or volunteering. All of the centenarians were religious or spiritual. They spoke of their faith giving them a moral framework, and providing solace in difficult times.
In Myanmar, With The Youth Militias Fighting For Freedom (La Stampa/Italy) Maui is 31, he holds a degree in geology and spent years studying abroad and working as an agronomist in the eastern city of Loikaw. But this all belongs to his past. Today, General Maui leads one of the most active guerrilla groups among the Burmese revolutionary forces, currently fighting against the military junta that seized power in the country in 2021. Myanmar is ravaged by a civil war that has so far caused more than 55,000 casualties. The military junta—which seized power through a military coup three years ago and, with the support of India, Russia and China has created one of the most brutal and repressive dictatorship in the world—is opposed by the Burmese revolutionary forces, composed of 20 year olds that left their cities to oppose the regime and ethnic groups that have been fighting for their rights and autonomy for decades. Despite not having sufficient means, weapons and funds, the rebels now control more than half of the country. “We are fighting for a country where there is respect for indigenous minorities, where the form of government is democratic federalism, where the keywords are justice, peace and work,” General Maui says. “We are not fighting for a flag, we don’t want the American, European or Chinese model, we want to live in peace and harmony with our land. But if we’re doing this it will be for those that will come after us. For us, now, there is no future, but only the present, and the present is war.”
Israel hacked Lebanon to warn of impending strikes (NYT) Israel’s preparations to strike homes and buildings in southern Lebanon where it claimed Hezbollah was storing weapons included calling and texting Lebanese residents to evacuate areas that would come under fire, according to Lebanese and Israeli government officials. Whether delivered over the phone or by text message in Arabic, the wording was the same: “If you are in a building housing weapons for Hezbollah, move away from the village until further notice.” The message was also heard on at least one Lebanese radio station, where Israel managed to seize control of the airwaves. Israel was able to send the calls and texts by hacking into Lebanon’s telecommunications systems, a practice they have perfected over the last decade in Lebanon and in Gaza, according to two Israeli intelligence officers. Once they are within Lebanon’s systems, Israeli military intelligence units can direct the messages and phone calls to reach cellphones that are geolocated to a certain area.
In Lebanon’s Capital, Israel’s Strikes Stoke Fears of a Full-On War (NYT) It began with messages sent by Israel to radio stations and some cellphones in Beirut on Monday morning, warning of imminent military action. The alerts stoked alarm across the capital, the southern suburbs of which are dominated by Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group. Parents rushed to schools to pick up their children. By early afternoon, lines of cars and motorbikes snaked out from fuel stations and down streets in the city as many residents fled, hoping to find refuge in Lebanon’s northern mountains. Others wandered the mostly empty aisles of grocery stores, their carts stacked with water bottles, bags of rice and jugs of oil, uncertainty hanging in the air. All the while, news updates flashed across people’s phone screens detailing the more than 1,000 Israeli airstrikes pounding southern Lebanon. Worn by decades of conflicts, many believed they knew what was coming. “It’s a war,” said Daher Amdi, 34, as he sat outside a mostly empty cafe.
Israel vows more strikes in Lebanon as death toll soars (Washington Post) Israel unleashed another wave of airstrikes across Lebanon on Tuesday—including in a Beirut suburb—vowing to press ahead with its offensive against the militant group Hezbollah, as airlines canceled flights, the death toll soared above 500, and thousands of civilians fled southern Lebanese regions close to the Israeli border. The Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday that it had hit 1,500 “terrorist infrastructure targets in southern Lebanon and deep inside Lebanese territory.” In Lebanon, the death toll since Monday—one of the country’s deadliest days since a protracted civil war ended in 1990—rose to at least 569, according to the Ministry of Health, which said there were 50 children, 94 women and nine paramedics among the dead. The strikes in Lebanon have also injured 1,850, the Ministry of Health said. Meanwhile, Hezbollah fired 300 projectiles across the border with Israel, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said Tuesday. Hezbollah said that it had used new long-range Fadi missiles overnight and on Tuesday to strike a variety of targets in northern Israel, including an explosives factory in Zichron, almost 40 miles into Israel.
Cholera is spreading in Sudan as fighting between rival generals shows no sign of abating (AP) Cholera is spreading in war-torn Sudan, killing at least 388 people and sickening about 13,000 others over the past two months on Monday, health authorities said, as more than 17 months of fighting between the military and a notorious paramilitary group shows no sign of abating. The disease is spreading in areas devastated by recent heavy rainfall and floods especially in eastern Sudan where millions of war displaced people sheltered. The casualties from cholera included six dead and about 400 sickened over the weekend, according to Sunday’s report by the Health Ministry. The disease was detected in 10 of the country’s 18 provinces.

Mobile phones in prison: reasons for their continued presence and their impact
Despite strict controls on mobile phones in prisons, they continue to exist in large numbers and are used by prisoners to continue committing crimes. signal jammer This article will explore the reasons for the circulation of mobile phones in prisons, the problems they cause, and potential solutions. cell phone jammer
Mobile phones in prisons Thousands of mobile phones are confiscated in UK prisons every year. GPS jammer However, many more enter prisons through various means, such as being smuggled in or thrown over the walls. Mobile phones in prisons have become a valuable illegal resource, with the cost of borrowing them ranging from £400 to £1000. Wifi jammer
The government's National Offender Management Service (NOMS) seized 7,451 mobile phones and Sim cards outside prisons in England and Wales in 2013. These phones were used by prisoners to "commission murders, plan prison breaks, import automatic firearms and arrange drug imports", and the problem was widespread. One prisoner even used a mobile phone to organize crime from his cell and smuggled a machine gun into the UK.
Problems caused by mobile phones The presence of mobile phones in prisons poses a serious security risk. Prisoners use mobile phones to continue criminal activities, such as running drug gangs, planning murders and other serious crimes. Judge David Farrell QC has said prison security is “completely inadequate”, allowing crime to become a “scandal”.
The mother of a prisoner at Northumberland Prison claimed that “the place is full of mobile phones”. Mobile phones and drugs are thrown into prisons at random, and even drones are used to deliver illegal items. Glyn Travis of the Prison Officers Association (POA) pointed out that the circulation of drugs and mobile phones completely undermines the external security that protects the public.
Despite the security precautions, the circulation of mobile phones in prisons is still high, indicating the difficulty of finding and removing these phones. The Prison Service said the obvious solution is to make these phones unusable.
Solution Interference and blocking: Sending a signal to prevent mobile phones from receiving base station signals. This method is cheap and very effective, but it blocks all mobile phones and Sim cards in range, including those of prison staff. If not careful, it can cause interference outside the prison.
Grabbing: Mobile phones are attracted to false networks. This method can selectively block illegal mobile phones while retaining communications for staff and nearby residents. Success is quantifiable and illegal phones and their owners can be identified and monitored. However, this approach is more expensive than full disruption.
Operator disconnection: The Serious Crime Act 2015 introduced the power to force mobile phone operators to disconnect the network. Although the relevant regulations have not yet been introduced, this measure can cut the signal of illegal mobile phones and Sim cards. However, mobile operators may be reluctant to cooperate, and disconnected phones and Sim cards can be easily replaced.

Export Log for 7/21/2024-7/27/2024
This week, not a lot of notable things happened. Last week was described as a slow week but would be the stepping stone for new and greater things, but honestly, with the amount of exports and sales that happened then, it didn't deserve that label. Instead, this week much more deserves it, as there were far fewer things happening this week, but it will have huge implications for the future.
The biggest announcement for this week was the installation new experimental technology that allows us to have cheap and easy satellite access, allowing for accurate mapping of terrain, better drone transportation, and more. To oversimplify, the tech is basically transforming Crates into mobile satellites, allowing to make them for much cheaper without having to create an entire new system, and since they are technically space ships, they can leave the worlds on their own and avoid debris.
This has major implications on many worlds. To start off, no progress was made on Default as all focus was put on mapping out the planet. A large task, but not as large as expected. That being said, it may take another week before the mapping is complete, as hundreds locations are being identified thanks to a combination of the GPS systems and the Tomes of Memory. It will mean that the warehouses will continue to be full until this process is finished, but it will well worth it.
Another major situation where the mapping systems made major changes to was MazeRun. While we cannot abandon the waypoint system, lest an employee gets attacked by a terrorist if the position is not secured, it has helped a lot in more... unfortunate ways. The situation is still being sorted out, so we'll leave this alone until the supervisor of that world is ready to release the information. There were also major progress made in general on the world as well, but those either have had or will have their own posts about them. The warehouses were not full either though.
Finally, we get to C8H. As mentioned in the board meeting, the territory of C8H was tripled in sized, and while most it it will be wilderness, that just means more resources to collect, and more caves to fill. We're nowhere near ready to get ready to harvest the world's resources anyways, so there is nothing that can be done about it. Back to the Anti-Project plan on C8H, we have finished the sales from the scavenging trip, and here are the significant sales from that:
11 Crates of Gravel
6 Crates of Yarn
4 Crates of Wax
26.5 Crates of Glass
2 Crates of Snow
2 Crates of Ice
1 Crate of Utilitarian Magic Items
8.5 Crates of Concrete Mix
2.5 Crates of Soil
0.5 Crates of Monster Blood
2 Crates of Unique Plant life
6.5 Crates of Lava
3 Crates of Lore Books that were digitized
2 Crates of Ink
0.5 Crates of Magical Ink Glow Ink
2 Crates of Quartz
1.5 Crates of Clay
2.5 Crates of Bricks
1.5 Crates of Cursed Stone
0.5 Crates of Monster Eyes
2.5 Crates of Leather
2 Crates of Plasma
1.33 Crates of Magic Crystals
0.5 Crates of Onyx
1 Crate of Fertilizer
12 Crate of Sulfur
0.5 Crates of Glue
2 Crates of Oil
8 Crates of Precious Gemstones
5 Crates of Charcoal
1.5 Crates of Coal
0.33 Crates of Semi-Precious Gemstones
4.33 Crates of Steel
0.66 Crates of Gold
Diamonds were also traded
Afterwards, work was started on the goods from the Solar Isles, though there is... we're looking into a situation, but it should be nothing to worry about. We're not posting on what the significant sales were for the Solar Isles loot until all of it is cleared. Considering there is a ton of oil and onyx... that will take a while. Still, it will be worth it in the end. It will 100% be worth it...
Now for the Side Projects. First, for our atmosphere clearing project, we have managed to reach 734 sectors clear. That puts the progress percentage at 36.7%. Then we have the work done for our art commissioning service. We made a decent amount of commissions, but we're surprisingly getting them done faster then they come in. We're not expecting this to last thankfully, especially since we are taking part of a gallery meant to raise health awareness. That being said, our artist team is on a roll and have nearly finished it, so we'll have it ready with lots of time to spare. Anyways, here are the commissions we have received:
44 normal commissions
6 Full-sized commissions
6 Significant commissions finished
With that, that is the end of this week's export log. Hopefully, we'll have more progress to show you next week, though that is honestly not likely. With dangers coming up ahead as well, we may have to temporarily cut back on production to keep our employees safe. Just a warning if needed. But with that, we hope you look forward to our progress in this new era of satellite technology!
