First Day - Aussie GP 2019 - Part 1
A new team? With two females? This is unheard of and will most certainly shake things up in F1! Meet Y/n Rose-Ocean and Evelyn Match as they get assigned seats into a new team into the F1, Porsche Royal racing. Y/n holds the number 38 whilst Evelyn holds the number 72. The two are introduced as rookies in the 2019 season, but, their area has been yet to be revealed, it being closed by tarps, and the two girls' identities have also remained a secret. Over time, even though she’s one of the youngest, she soon becomes the “grid aunt” and even “grid older/younger sister” as well.

-Y/n pov-
"Ev?" The older girl hums in response whilst looking out the one-way blacked-out windows, "I'm scared..." This causes her to turn to me, "What if no one likes us? I mean, there is absolutely no warning for this to be happening and-" she cuts me off with her left hand going over my mouth, "Y/n, sweetheart, we will be okay. If they hate us, they hate us. If they love us, they love us. Don't let that get to your head though, okay?" She asks and tells me to which I nod.
Upon removing her hand, she pulls me into a side hug before she grabs out her phone and we take a selfie together that will most likely be posted later on, after this scary reveal; if all goes down well, that is. Today, we're just checking out the track and area before FP1 in the next few days, but will need to wear our hoods up and glasses on as we can't be found out, not yet at least. Lance has somewhat caught on, but neither Ev nor I have given him a 'yes' or a 'no' answer.
The grid line-up is powerful, which is why I am worried.
Evelyn Match. Where do I even start with this girl? She's the sweetest human being alive but can also cause the most havoc if and when she wants to. She's a 24-year-old Thailand girl and is, obviously, a Formula (1) driver with me. Her hair is jet black and is quite long with chocolate oak eyes and relatively tanned skin. Being 5'8, she towers over me and my shorter form (NOTE: Doing it this way is easier for me to write for right now) which is hilarious to her but can also be seen as quite cute and adorable. Especially in arguments. She's been there for me since I was around 14 years old and she was 20 years old. Been a rock for me. Love her so very much.
"Y/n!" I jump and face Ev who looks at me pointingly, "We're here," she informs me and I look out the window that's to my left and see it there, my home track, the Australian Grand Prix. As quickly as possible, both me and Ev put on our sunnies and pulled up our hoods before checking each other to make sure that no hair stood out before grabbing our backpacks and jumping out on either side.
It's around 4:20am, and the only reason that we're here early, is to make sure that we can make it to the garage without anyone spotting us. My dad hops out of the driver's seat as one of my four older brothers, Javier, jumps out of the passenger seat. See, my four brothers and I, we're all adopted by two loving and caring fathers that adopted us all when we were just babies, me, of course, being the last one. Dominic is referred to as Dad, is 48 years old and is Australian/Greek and works as an all-round teacher at one of the schools close by whilst my other parent, Miguel, goes by Papá, is 59 years old, is Spanish and owns his own multi-milliner company that owns many music producing buildings and also does financial stuff that I find boring.
My eldest brother, Nolan, was born in America and is currently 29 years old and is an author, the next one down, Hassan, was born in India and is currently 27 years old and works as a baker by day and chef by night, the one after that is Javier, originally from Spain and was adopted at two years old and is now 26 and is a DJ, and the last brother of mine, Atlas, was born in Greece and is currently 24 years old and is a dancer/actor. And then, we have me. Y/n Rivera García Luna Ramírez Scott, an 18-year-old girl born and partially raised in Australia, Victoria, Melbourne, who had a passion for karting that started at the young age of 5 years old. I just use a nickname that was given to me by some of my close friends when I was around 7 years old as my last name on Instagram, Rose-Ocean, because I love both of those things. I still don't know why my parents adopted so many kids. And the fact that they accept me with my little adopted baby boy, River. But, that'll come later on. BACK TO THE STORY!
Of course, I couldn't hide this from some of my closest friends though, who, have also moved up in Formula 1 this year! That being - George Russell, who's driving for Williams, Alex Albon, who's driving for Toro Rosso, and finally, Lando Norris, who's driving for McLaren. They've actually kept this secret quite well, surprisingly well. Admittedly, I haven't known these boys as long as they've all known each other, only really knowing them for around two-three years prior to this year, but it's been great. Ev also reckons that I should let Lance know (even though he most likely, or even most definitely, already knows) but I just don't want to, just not yet at least.
As us four make our way through, we're greeted by the Team Principal, Aurel Hartmann, who is a 47-year-old man from Germany and is very kind and generous yet stern man who also hired his younger brother, Urs Hartmann, 35, as my performance engineer for the team. Ev has Callum Maxwell, 40, Scottish as hers. As he (Aurel) leads us towards the still hidden garage of Porche Racing, I'm getting nervous about hearing, and seeing, who mine and Ev's race engineers will be as all we've been told is that we'll be quite happy and pleased with them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Time skip to garage, 3rd pov-
The group quickly sneak into the garage that is still yet to be uncovered, but will be on Thursday on media day which is in two days time. The girls are handed some booklets that hold what the final looks of their racing suits look like and stuff like that.
⬆️The racing suit
⬆️The racing helmet
The sponsors are also listed on the front, throughout on the edges, and on the back:
MECCA, Milo, KFC, ROBLOX, Headspace, Starbucks, Universal Studios, Pinterest, Upfield Holdings, and Dunkin' Donuts. Weird mix and a lot, am I right? I know. This is a lot to still take in for the two females as what they are going to be doing, will forever change this sport, forever.
Aurel then proceeds to lead the four of them over to the cars (see at top) that the girls will be driving during the Free Practices, Q1, Q2, Q3, and the races in the near and coming future. The girls have already been introduced to their cars but Dominic and Javier have not and they are in complete and utter awe. Javier has been in two garages before in the past, that being Red Bull and Mercedes, but never one like this. The car is new and freshly coated and has that new smell to it that everyone loves. The garage feels so lively and has a sweet sugary smell to it that is probably from the lollies that are alongside the back wall that also has other treats that are both sweet, savory and sour, sith some vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and other diet food placed neatly around the large set-up.
Mechanics are hustling around going from place to place whilst saying their greetings and all in all, it's just a very happy and lively place to actually be inside of. It's beautiful. So very beautiful. Stunning, even. "You can take a closer look if you'd like Dominic and Javier," Aurel informs the two who then look like it's a full-time dream come true.

Members of an ethical hacking group called Dragon Sector, including Sergiusz Bazański and Michał Kowalczyk, were called upon by a train repair shop, Serwis Pojazdów Szynowych (SPS), to analyze train software in June 2022. SPS was desperate to figure out what was causing "mysterious failures" that shut down several vehicles owned by Polish train operator the Lower Silesian Railway, Polish infrastructure trade publication Rynek Kolejowy reported. At that point, the shortage of trains had already become "a serious problem" for carriers and passengers, as fewer available cars meant shorter trains and reduced rider capacity, Rynek Kolejowy reported.
Dragon Sector spent two months analyzing the software, finding that "the manufacturer's interference" led to "forced failures and to the fact that the trains did not start," and concluding that bricking the trains "was a deliberate action on Newag's part."
According to Dragon Sector, Newag entered code into the control systems of Impuls trains to stop them from operating if a GPS tracker indicated that the train was parked for several days at an independent repair shop.
The trains "were given the logic that they would not move if they were parked in a specific location in Poland, and these locations were the service hall of SPS and the halls of other similar companies in the industry," Dragon Sector's team alleged. "Even one of the SPS halls, which was still under construction, was included."
The code also allegedly bricked the train if "certain components had been replaced without a manufacturer-approved serial number," 404 Media reported. [...]
404 Media noted that Newag appeared to be following a common playbook in the right-to-repair world where manufacturers intimidate competitor repair shops with threatened lawsuits and unsubstantiated claims about safety risks of third-party repairs. So far, Dragon Sector does not appear intimidated, posting its success on YouTube and discussing its findings at Poland’s Oh My H@ck conference in Warsaw.

Do you think Hedwig is actually a familiar? Like she doesn't behave in the way Owls are supposed to.
And then there is the fact that while the books call her 'she', the plummage and size she displays are those associated with Male Snowy Owls.
Just ... Do you get the sense that she is frightfully intelligent?
All magical owls are portrayed as more intelligent than regular owls. Hedwig happens to be a smarter magical owl, but all of them are above the intelligence of regular owls.
Errol’s legs, took off the parcel, and then carried Errol to Hedwig’s cage. Errol opened one bleary eye, gave a feeble hoot of thanks, and began to gulp some water.
(PoA, 7)
Errol is also smart enough to give a "hoot of thanks". Which supports what I wrote above.
Other magical animals, like Crookshanks, are also incredibly intelligent:
The Whomping Willow was creaking and lashing out with its lower branches; they could see themselves darting here and there, trying to reach the trunk. And then the tree froze. “That was Crookshanks pressing the knot,” said Hermione. “And there we go . . . ,” Harry muttered. “We’re in.”
(PoA, 404)
Crookshanks could press the knot on the Whomping Willow and even help Sirius order a broom for Harry. that's insanely intelligent for a cat. But Hedwig and Errol are intelligent enough to do these things too.
Additionally, all magical owls can always find their owner and know where to deliver letters and packages... like, clearly they all have some built-in GPS magic.
Basically, all magical pets are frighteningly intelligent.
But I do think Harry and Hedwig have a very close bond between wizard and pet. I don't think I'd call it a familiar bond since there doesn't seem to be magic like this in the books. Like, the idea of a spirit familiar is never really mentioned or acknowledged to exist in the Wizarding World, which leads me to believe it doesn't. I just think wizards and pets can sometimes have closer bonds than others, just like people.
I do think Harry and Hedwig have a pretty good bond. The same goes for Sirius and Crookshanks, and Sirius and Buckbeek... (Sirius is apparently really good with intelligent magical animals)
As for the description being more fitting of a male snowy owl, I didn't find any specific description of her appearance besides being a snowy owl and very distinct (which all snowy owls are) up until HBP.
He was very surprised, therefore, to see the snowy white Hedwig circling amongst all the brown and gray owls.
(HBP, 220)
While female snowy owls have more grey in their plumage, creating a salt-and-pepper look, there are real female snowy owls that look more white, so, I don't think that's too odd. Like, they won't be pure white like the older male snowy owls, but they'd definitely stick out among grey and brown owls. Also, selective breeding could cause a difference in coloring.
I don't think her size was ever specified in the books (may be wrong on that one). That being said, without seeing a male snowy owl and a female snowy owl side by side, usually, it's hard to tell there is a size difference (from what I've read)
Both of these are female Snowy Owls:
So, there's definitely variation in coloring that'll allow room for her to be called "snowy white" if she's on the whiter end of female snowy owls.
TL;DR
I think Hedwig is a very magical and smart female Snowy Owl, but I don't think there is anything magical beyond that.
Obviously, you can headcanon and write in fic whatever you want, these are just my thoughts.

27 laps Dry Race/Flag2Flag DNFS: 2
Pole: Jorge Martin Winner: Marc Marquez Fastest Lap: Marc Marquez (1:27.765s on Lap 9) New Lap Record! (previously held by Marquez from 2013)
Race Podium: 1 Marc Marquez (+25pts) + 0.997s 2 Jorge Martin (+20pts) + 9.103s 3 Pecco Bagnaia (+15pts)
Championship Standings: 1 Jorge Martin (424 pts) + 20 2 Pecco Bagnaia (404 pts) + 59 3 Marc Marquez (345 pts) + 14 4 Enea Bastianini (331 pts)
Summary and Report under read now
//Summary//
Marc gets his own tear off under his rear wheel in the start. He’s not able to reach it and it causes a horrific start. He barely gets any acceleration and ends up p13 going into turn 1. By turn 2, he’s p9. By turn 3, he's p6.
The rest of the grid has very similar starts as the sprint. Pecco has a great start and sneaks past Maverick in p3 into p2. However, he has a wobble just before/at the braking and loses the place to Bez. Jorge has a significant lead into turn 1 due to the other two front row starters having bad starts and is unchallenged.
Binder gets a great start, up 7 places into p5. As does Morbidelli in p4.
By end of lap 1, Jorge has a half second gap.
There’s a small gap Marc is having to make up from p6 so there’s a battle for p4 between binder and morbidelli.
Bez does his long lap penalty from the sprint. The race order is now Martin, Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Binder, Marquez.
Once Marc catches them, Binder makes a mistake and Marc has a look. However the following corner he passes him and into p4
Lap 3 Marc is p4
Lap 4 Bez crashes and rejoins, slide from turn 4.
Pecco keeping gap steady to Jorge, he’s not pulling away like the sprint. Tyre saving mode.
Marc has slip stream on Morbidelli passes him into p3
Marc sets fastest lap, he’s now got clear air infront. 0.859 second gap to Pecco lap 5.
Luca Marini has to give up a place because he undertook under yellow flag.
Lap 6 Enea in p6, he’s stuck in traffic. The top three are pulling away significantly.
On lap 6, Marc breaks the race lap record from 2013 that he placed himself. I didn’t record it at the time as he continued to improve, but the record is currently the time he set on lap 9, 1:27.765s.
Diggi and Enea scrapping for p6 on lap 8.
Marc has caught Pecco the same lap. And closes 8 tenths on Jorge in the lead.
Marc tries a lot down the straight to pass Pecco, but he can’t match him in the braking.
With Marc and Pecco fighting for p2, the hurry up is now closing the gap to Jorge
Lap 11 Jorge does a mistake, loses a lot of time and all three of the close into a three way battle. Pecco passes Jorge on the inside, Jorge gets him in the switchback, except Marc sees the gap Jorge went through and follows him, putting Jorge back into p1 and Marc past Pecco into p2.
Jorge and Marc both sit together, pulling away from Pecco. Marc doesn’t really try any moves, but he barely lets the gap go below 0.200s from here on out.
Lap 16 the gap to Pecco is one second. A few laps later, with Pecco losing his tow, this gap has doubled.
Lap 18 Jorge goes wide slightly. He’s making minor mistakes.
Marc has the same problem in the straight he had with Pecco in that he turns so much better in the corners, especially the left handers, but he can’t even try on the straight because the gp24 (and Martin too) can brake so much later than him. Even though he gets the run on the both of them, it amounts to nothing.
Lap 20 the speed of the front runners is incredible. Enea (p4) is 10 seconds behind Jorge. That’s half a second faster than the rest of the field. They’re in a race of their own.
Lap 23 (4 laps to go), Jorge goes wide by the smallest margin, Marc sees the gap and plants himself on the apex, passing him and making it stick. However, Jorge is very very close behind.
The start of lap 24, Marc, who has not shaken Jorge, gains on him on the straight, and flies past Marc in the braking at turn 1.
Same lap, turn 4, same corner he did the pass on the previous lap, Jorge brakes later, responding to his own mistake that let Marc through the first time. However Marc does the opposite, lunges down the inside of Jorge, slows right down at the apex, pushing Jorge off line/out. Then accelerates out of the corner, creating that gap Marc needed the first time. He learnt from the previous lap.
Lap 26 Marc has seriously pulled away. Jorge tries the same thing at turn 1 that got him back to p1 before, however he was too far back and Marc stays ahead.
Joan Mir crashes and retires
Last lap, Stoner corner, the one corner Marc’s been so strong at all weekend, he pulls such a massive advantage from Jorge that by the time he’s crossed the line Marc is nearly a second over Jorge.
//Report//
Thank you Marc Marquez for your masterclass. I know there are a lot of people complaining about the racing at the level that Ducati is at. Which is fair, it leaves a lot of seriously talented riders not having the results they need because they’re just not on ducatis. However, as a Marquez fan I’m having a ball, and I’ll admit my bias in that.
So first off the bat, the looney toons ass start leaving Marc in butt fuck knowhere, yet he recovers half of it in the first sector is insane. From there on it’s basically just the same as the sprint. Working through the field. And I said yesterday, five laps longer he would’ve caught Jorge. So Marc gets to that point in the race where he has the track he just needs to put the laps in and he does.
Genuinely, Marc was faster than the gp24s in terms of pace. But he was really struggling to actually pass them. You can see how hard he has to work. I felt insane watching him consistently get better exits, carry more corner speed, rotate the bike on a completely different level, and all the gp24s had to do was get the braking right and it undos all that.
Marc was seriously struggling to get past Pecco, and if it weren’t for that little three way kerfuffle giving him the opportunity to, I feel as if he would’ve been stuck behind him for much longer.
Ultimately it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference because Jorge and Marc’s pace was unreal. Watching them pull away further and further, with Marc so far up Jorge’s ass he could probably smell his breakfast, and for it to stay that way for Multiple Laps, crazy. I know really it was just going around and around in circles because Marc wasn’t making many moves at first, but that last 7 laps or so, with Jorge making mistakes, and Marc lunging it left and right was beautiful. I love good clean impressive racing. In my live notes all I put for Marc’s final move was just “most beautiful lunge ever”
But I cannot imagine being Pecco in this situation. I know Phillip island is Marc’s strength, but it’s so clear that this race was Marc using his skills to best bikes with clear advantages. With Martin going to Aprilia next year, your sole competitor’s only drawback being the advantages you hold over him, the same advantages that will be levelled next year is scary. Because what that was from Marc, was pure skill. The title fight next year is going to be fiery, but we’ve known that :)
Also, god I’m so unsure how this championship is going to pan out. I know we're saying this is going right down to Valencia, and I agree, but to be honest, the next race will make the difference to me. If Jorge is at or around the level he was this weekend in Thailand, I think he’ll be taking it in Valencia. If Pecco does, this faux battle will continue for longer, let’s see what happens :)
#motogp#nerd posts#these first two have been very marc heavy but its been a marc heavy weekend#i'm biased but I'm not that biased I don't want this to just be me analysing marcs performance every weekend#even though I hope for a marquez win every race I hope next race some more stuff goes on so that I can actually provide opinions that aren'#me being MARC MARQUEZ THE GOAT#okay :)

Hello. I clicked your link regarding GRC but the domain is now “404”. Could you please advise how much it cost to get to grc (is it guaranteed?) and how to process? I have extreme anxiety about interviews but have been on hrt since 2015 and completed top surgery, stage 1 and hysto and living as male since 2014
Hi Anon,
I have attached a link which provides all the information you’ll need to apply for a GRC.
There is no interview for a GRC. You will need to provide them with as much documentation as you can to prove that you have lived in your chosen gender for 2 years.
The application fee has been reduced dramatically and is now £5. If you want a new birth certificate after receiving your GRC, this will be an additional fee, but you will be provided with this information after receiving your GRC.
The only reason you would be rejected for a GRC would be if you cannot provide proof that you have lived experience for two years or if you do not provide the correct information within the timeframe they will give you. However, they are very helpful and if you do not provide what they need they will write to you to ask for more information.
My advice when applying for a GRC is that it is better to provide more information than not enough, as it will just take more time and money to send extra documentation to them. Getting the two reports back from your GIC and GP can take some time and a lot of chasing up and you may also be charged for each report.
Always send your application/documents recorded delivery as you will be sending original documents.

"Still nothing?" you whispered into the night breeze for the umpteenth time. Your companion, cloaked in a black hoodie, turned to you, and though you never saw his eyes, which were always hidden behind frosted glass, you could tell he was probably frowning at you at that moment. His patience with you was disappearing faster than steam over a pot.
"Just because you keep asking me the same questions doesn't mean you're going to speed up the process." He snapped at you, turning his gaze back to the glowing screen where he was currently trying to hack into the internal systems of the heroic organization where your new friend works.
You pouted your lips eagerly and let your body lie on the cool material beneath your back. The two of you were sitting - or rather, you were lying on your back - on the roof of an apartment building on the outskirts of the city. Whenever one of you needed help from the other you met in similar places. It was quiet and, above all, there were no witnesses.
On the dark side of an otherwise joy-ridden city, he was known as a top hacker. You assumed the man sitting less than a meter away from you, pounding away at the keyboard in front of him, was a few years older than you, but he couldn't have been more than thirty. Neither of you knew the other's identity, and both of you were so well-versed in your profession that you didn't even want to know your companion's name. His nickname, "404," was enough for you, and the knowledge that you would mysteriously appear wherever he needed was enough for him.
"If you don't want to keep in touch through electronic devices, we can keep in touch through my inner abbility." You suggested and he waited for a moment before deciding which answer to choose to your suggestion.
"How would that work?" He asked cautiously. He is wary of me, you thought, smiling to yourself. Good, he'll survive longer that way.
"Quite simply, really," you threw your hands casually in the air and leaned your back against a nearby brick wall. "I'll put some of my power into you. It won't affect you in any way, and it won't even serve as a GPS locator unless you want it to. If you ever need me, just think of my irresistible self, and I'll come running as soon as I can." You give him a sly wink and an air kiss for good measure.
"You can save your acts of service for someone else, they don't work on me." He replies, and you touch your chest where your heart beats in hurt: "So cruel. I like that."
"What is your ability?" He interrupts you. He watched as the smile remained on your face, but all the previous playfulness was gone. With darkened eyes, you stared up at the night sky above you. It was as if your mind had slipped to memories you didn't want to revisit, and he understood not to ask again.
"I prefer to keep this information to myself. But if you will give me your trust, I will give mine to you as well." You turned your gaze back to his, and this time they revealed something he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Are you willing to make a blood vow?" It slipped from his lips before he could stop himself. Why would he want to make a blood oath with you?
He was never the social type and never wanted to be. However, in his profession he found that it is always better to have people by your side whom you can trust implicitly. And you looked like you were not only willing to become that person, but more importantly, he had the impression that you were looking for someone like that in your life yourself.
"Yes," was your answer. You both entered into a great gambling game then, and it's working out for you so far.
Even today, like that night, you watched the darkened sky above you and regretted that you couldn(t see any stars because of the glow of the city. The last time you saw them was when you were a child, when both your parents were still alive.
"Fuck!" 404 hissed and slammed his hand hard on the ground until you heard a dull thud. It must have hurt.
You stood up and looked over his shoulder, "What happened?" In truth, you couldn't make out much from all the numbers and tabs that were open, but from his reaction you knew, what you were looking at didn't bode well. "Could't get in?"
"Of course I did, a long time ago. Their defense system is as strong as a toddler." He grunted and rubbed the side of his sore right hand. You frowned slightly and gently took his hand in yours. You pulled it to your lap and began to heal his bruise.
"Your parents' file is not in digital form. No police station or hero agency has it which is more than suspicious. I haven't found any trace of deletion, it's just like their case doesn't exist."
"To be honest, I kind of expected it when everyone sent me to hell and I still, to this day, didn't get an official report even though I'm their only family." You said in a calm tone and let go of his palm. Still, he didn't pull it back to his body, but instead repeated your previous action and pulled your hand to his. He gently stroked the back of your hand with his thumb.
"Sorry anyway. What do we do now?" He whispered devastatedly. He raised his head to you in surprise when he heard your ringing laughter. You couldn't have known he was frowning at you in incomprehension, so he tossed your hand aside and asked what was so funny.
"Nothing, I'm just glad to have you in my life. It's nice to have someone who cares about you," you whispered, a trace of a gentle smile still lingering on your face. A smile that had long since become his comfort zone - which is something that terrified him.
At first, he thought you were just a stupid teenager out for revenge. A teenager who takes nothing seriously and everything is just a game to her. But over time, he realized it was just a mask you wore to protect yourself from society. From what? He wasn't sure. What he did know was that you were opening up to him more and more every day, and for that he was grateful.
"Who said I care about you?" He snorted and began hastily packing his things back up.
"Oh? Don't tell me I embarrassed you?" Yeaah… 404 takes back his previous thought. You're just a stupid girl who always wants to have fun. Now he knows that for sure.
"Are you blushing? What? You don't have to, not in front of me." You started poking him with your finger, hanging on his back in amusement. You were surprised at how weak his body seemed. Hasn't he been eating properly lately?
"Stop nagging and start thinking about what you're going to do next." He snorts and pushes you away from him. He was just winding up one of his cables when you pulled away from him and looked up at the sky again.
"I don't have to, I've already figured it out." You hummed a tune. Unprompted, you went on:" I'll try my new friend first. And if that doesn't work, I'll have to sneak into every organization and go through the paper trail myself."
"Pfft," was the initial reaction to your foolish vision. "While I still don't understand how your inner abbility works, I don't think it's going to be as simple as you assume." And he proceeded to list all the security forces, the security guards, and why each of your plans would fail.
You explained in detail to your companion how you planned to get in, and that he didn't need to worry about anything. After hearing your plan, he rubbed his chin thoughtfully until he nodded in agreement.
"That might work. But it's dangerous. I don't know how, but first try to get the stupid hero to do it for you. Offer him something in return that he won't be able to refuse." He snapped his satchel shut and zipped it up. He then got to his feet and looked at your still seated figure.
"For my services today I charge… The next round is on you. And I expect you to take me somewhere decent."
"Hah? You're getting more and more expensive," you grumble, but it could hardly be called a protest. Three drinks and he's drunk.
"Inflation, love, inflation." He says goodbye and unlocks his cell phone screen. The glow in the air around him made coordinates made up of code and in the blink of an eye he was gone.
You rested your palms on your knees and rose to your full height. Now it's time to put the next step of your plan into motion.
____
"A group of local criminals have teamed up with an underground mafia gang! We've got a ransom note - they've got eight hostages and they're demanding twenty million for each with a chance for an unguarded escape. All assault units are called into action!" The thunderous voice of the lightning hero shouted over the agency.
Jungkook, along with the rest of his unit, shouted a collective, "Yes, sir!" His brain switched into trained auto mode, ready to risk his life.
The unit Jungkook was assigned to included his senior colleague Yoongi, along with Hobi and two other young students. They had an internship there and Jungkook could see the fear in their eyes. He himself remembered the day he was first sent out on a real mission, not just street checks. That's when he met you and his world changed. Whether for better or worse, he still didn't know.
They got to the scene of the crime simply thanks to Su-hin, whose inner ability is teleportation. While the air troops served as observers, the ground troops quietly surrounded all possible exits of the bank.
It was long past closing time, so the only civilians in the building were the last of the employees who hadn't had time to go home yet.
"Why wasn't the bank raided on a weekday during business hours? They'd have more hostages." Intern Jack whispered. He crouched behind one of the many trash cans and peeked out to look at the back door of the bank now and then.
"It would mean more problems for them and more planning." Hobi replied, his piercing gaze fixed on the walls before him. With his ability, he could pinpoint exactly how many people were inside and where they were located. He was often sent on spy missions as a scout.
"Either they are not a large enough criminal group to afford such a large-scale operation, or they do not have the material means to do so." Yoongi joined in. He interrupted his explanation to reply to his commander that their team was in place, then looked into the dilated pupils of the two newcomers.
"This won't be like a school exercise, you can easily die here. You will follow us and obey our every order. They are armed, and we must expect them to use their weapons. Is that clear?"
The two boys looked at one another, giving each other courage. Their " Yes sir!" was clear and full of determination. Jungkook had to smile at that. One day they would make a valuable contribution to the team.
"Our priority is to get the civilians out alive. Once we've secured even one of them, you'll take them out and hand them over to the medical team. That will be the end of your work." Graphene sheets began to form around Yoongi's body, slowly building up a protective layer until it covered Yoongi's entire body. He looked like a heigh tech robot. " I'll go first, Hobi?"
"Two of them are standing at the main entrance, three around the hostages, and the other two at the back entrance. One is down in the underground vault with a civilian, and the other three are pacing back and forth in the middle of the bank." Hobi always stayed at a safe distance during such events. Although he was also trained for close quarters combat, his strength lay on a different domain.
"On my command, all units…" Namjoon's voice crackled in the headsets of all the heroes present, "Forward!"
Jungkook's legs raced forward as he strengthened his body with his ability. In front of him, Yoongi broke down the door. All the bullets aimed at his body bounced off without a single damage to his armor.
Yoongi lunged for the aimed machine gun with his left hand while using his right hook to punch the man in front of him in the nose. Before his crony could recover and attack Yoongi, Jungkook knocked him to the ground and sent him unconscious with one well-placed blow.
"Jack," he commanded to the boy behind him, who had only just come inside, and placed the criminal in handcuffs that prevented the use of his inner abilities. Su-hin did the same across from the opponent Yoongi had struck down and now continued forward.
There was a corridor in front of them, from which several different doors led on both sides with signs saying storage, cloakrooms, cleaning room… Hobi, however, was simply directing them exactly which way to go: "You'll run into another one around the corner, and he probably has some kind of ability."
They ran into him as soon as they opened the door in front of them. There stood a man wrapped in glowing lava, giggling madly. "You can't get past me!" He shouted, hurling a glowing orb at them. The spot where Yoongi had stood just a moment ago was now a gaping hole from which hot air radiated.
"Go, I'll take care of him," Yoongi said, and Jungkook didn't hesitate for a second. He ran towards the lava man, trusting his Hyung completely.
"If you think you can get past me that easily, you're wrong!" Yoongi's opponent shouted and began to create the same fireball again. Before he could reach out to throw, however, he was knocked down by a heavy, graphene net.
"You didn't think creating an armour around my body was the only thing I could do, right?" Yoongi laughed at him, but Jungkook didn't hear any further. For one, he was already too far away, and what was moe important, he needed to focus on his own task.
He was right in the middle of a scene of sheer madness.
"Get down on the floor, what don't you understand about that?"
"Please don't hurt me..."
"Hands up so I can see them!"
"Shut the fuck up!"
The three parties outshouted each other to the accompaniment of gun shots and a brawl of inner abilites. Jungkook didn't hesitate, heading for the huddle of terrified hostages crouched in front of one of the bulkheads, a machine gun aimed right at them.
Jungkook ran over there without much thought. He caught the attention of one of the employees, and at that moment he was sure his enemy, who was still shouting at the terrified civilians with a machine gun in his hand, would soon know about him.
The barrel of the machine gun swung in his direction, but Jungkook used his ability to increase his speed to triple the human's capability and crashed head-on into the villain in front of him. The sharp impact of a body running at car speed threw him back several meters and certainly knocked the wind out of him. Jungkook didn't know how long he would be out for, but he was ready to take advantage of the opening.
In an instant, he stepped in front of the shocked bank employees and began urging them to move. Behind his back, his colleagues had pacified the rest of the criminals and most of them were already in handcuffs.
Although adrenaline was flowing in the blood of everyone present, the shaky legs of the terrified refused to function normally. Jungkook tried to get all seven people as far away from the scene as possible in case there was still danger, but he couldn't manage to drag more than three people at a time all by himself.
At that moment, Jack ran up to him and began to direct the confused people out the back exit in a clear voice, where Yoongi stood, ready to provide immediate protection.
The three of them had already managed to get all seven of them at a brisk pace into the corridor, which they fought their way in less than a few minutes back. There was a confirmation over the earpiece that the man who had been down by the vaults had also been secured and transported to the med team.
Hobi was waiting for them at the exit. The whole procession was closed by Jungkook, together with Jack, who was now shouting triumphantly at the older heroes, "That went well! Did you see how Yoongi beat that guy in a second?"
Jungkook had to smile at his enthusiasm. He was glad that his first rescue mission had gone off without a hitch. Usually, thieves in particular resisted arrest and tried to escape justice at all costs. These ones were oddly easy to pin down, almost to the point of looking suspicious. Almost.
"Saw, cool right?" Jungkook fell into the younger boy's happy note. Jack bobbed his head in agreement, and with two hops in his step, he was in front of Jungkook. He backed up as he told him how their fight had played out and what Jungkook had missed out on.
"Really?" Jungkook replied at one of his observations as Jack's smile froze on his face. His eyes widened in horror.
Jungkook's reaction was too slow.
BANG!
A single shot was fired, triggering an avalanche of new panic.
Jungkook was dimly aware of the group of men and women before him scattering in all directions. He was vaguely aware of Jack's grip on his own neck. He was vaguely realizing that the man who had fired the shot was the same man he had sent into supposed unconsciousness a few minutes earlier.
But what he felt clearly was the anger that clouded his vision, the pain in his right hand that struck the broken nose of the man beneath him for the umpteenth time, and the tears burning in his eyes.
"Jungkook-" the person addressed did not respond to his name. Instead, he reached for another blow.
"Jungkook…" Smash, smash, smash. Crack. The sound of a broken bone. Whose it was, he didn't know nor did he care.
"Jungkook! He's dying!" Hobi's voice shouted at him. Only then did he pause over the bloodied face. The man beneath him was indistinguishable and his jaw and nose were probably broken. Blood gushed from his eyebrows, nose and mouth, and only now did Jungkook realize he was wailing for mercy.
"Yoongi carried him to Jimin, but it doesn't look good."
"..."
"Where is he?" Jungkook asked brokenly. Hobi nodded his head evasively behind his back. He saw what the boy's wound looked like. It was a clean shot through the neck. Jack was choking on his own blood, unable to breathe. The only thing Jimin could do for him now was to ease his passing.
Jungkook's ears rang faintly as he bent over the pale face of the barely fifteen-year-old boy who tried to say something, but all that came out were guttural sounds that tore at his heart.
"Sorry, I should have reacted faster. If I had taken him out from the start, you would have… Then you would have-" he chocked at his words. He felt a few salty drops run down his face.
It was his fault. He's senior in rank and should have protected him. If only he'd done his part!
"I can save him."
Jungkook turned his head sharply to the side where the voice belonging to the person he never thought he would see at this moment spoke.
"What do you want here?" Jungkook spat venomously at her, leaning protectively over the boy who had seconds to live.
You didn't react to his hostility and merely repeated your previous sentence.
"Hands up so I can see them!" Yoongi overcame his initial shock, but now he was pointing the weapon he created with his ability at her. Resignedly, you slowly raised your hands until they were clasped behind your head. Your piercing gaze never left Jungkook's eyes.
"I'm risking my own life among twenty heroes just to save a stranger's life. Either let me cure him now, or you can arrest me and watch the last drops of life drain from his face."
When Yoongi approached you together with Hobi from the other side, you let them touch you. You didn't even resist when they started putting the handcuffs on you.
Jungkook took a good look at you for the first time since you showed up in the back of the bank. You were wearing plain jeans, black sneakers and a sweatshirt that was definitely not your size. Your hair was flowing around your face, and this time it wasn't a garish color. You didn't even have any makeup on. You looked.... Like an ordinary young woman.
You looked more beautiful than ever before.
"Hyung. Let her try. She can't harm him more than he already is," Jungkook whispered. He knew that even if it was against the eldest better judgment, he wouldn't refuse his reguest.
"It's too late for that. He's dead," Jimin murmured behind his back. It's the end.
You knelt down next to Jungkook and placed your left palm on the boy's reddened neck while your right palm was over his heart. There was no warm glow at the point of contact as he often saw with healers. Instead, he watched as the color drained from your cheeks in seconds. You looked tired.
"I know who's to blame. Who orchestrated the robbery." You said into the sudden silence. Aside from Yoongi, who was still pointing his gun at you, the rest let their guard down.
"How would you know something like that?" Jimin asked, watching in incredulous amazement as the bullet wound healed, as the blood seemed to spontaneously return to his body, giving it its original pinkish tinge.
"Unfortunately, I know the boss of the gang. I can take you to him, but it'll be on my terms, and only two of you can go."
I'm gonna pretend I believe you for a second. Let's say we go along with your plan. I doubt we'll be able to tell our superiors about it, eh?" Yoongi grumbled. He didn't believe a single word that came out of the woman in front of him. He had seen for himself the effect her sentences could have on his younger colleague. He wasn't going to fall victim to her lies as well.
"Naturally." You replied involuntarily, standing back up to your full height with a deep sigh. Your hands were shaking slightly, but your gaze and stance were still as steady and determined as ever.
"It's up to you whether you believe me or not. But if you do, come to the corner of the Cord Bar down on South Street at eleven o'clock tomorrow night. No listening devices or prying eyes. And there can only be two of you. I don't care who." You explained quickly, knowing that now that your job was done no one had any reason not to pacify you. Or worse.
You took one last look in Jungkook's direction. You knew him as a confident, strong man. You thought he was brave when he was just an intern. Now there was a broken man in front of you with dried streams of tears on his cheeks.
"He'll live," you said your goodbye and disappeared into your own shadow.
Jungkook didn't even try to stop you, he was aware of how futile the effort would be. Instead he focused on Jack, who was breathing weakly again. Weakly, but still.

this article was published more than a year ago. the situation has only gotten worse since. pregnant women and newborns are having a really difficult time trying to survive due to the famine that is rapidly spreading throughout gaza.
the lack of health facilities, mass displacement, and restricted access to food and medicines are extremely harmful to pregnant women and newborn babies. new mothers are unable to get formula or milk powder for their children because of how expensive it is.
i cannot understate the importance of supporting pregnant women from gaza. they need help to ensure that they have access to healthcare, enough food to ensure proper development of their baby, funds to ensure that the needs of the child can be addressed (food, clothes, medicines).
sahar alanqar lives with her husband alaa and two children in gaza. she is currently pregnant and due to give birth in two short months. she is fundraising to ensure that her husband and children stay safe and healthy. please donate to her and share her fundraiser. she has been verified by gazavetters and is number 252 on their spreadsheet.

any time a bp member has been on a variety show in the past couple years the korean gp response is super positive and they always want to see more. jennie is trending in korea rn and i’m certain she will trend each week a new apt 404 episode drops too. all this goes to show that the whole yg exclusivity strategy has been the dumbest thing ever. you could argue that it worked in their rookie years ig but that was a long time ago now and atp the exclusive thing kind of does more damage than good 😐🥴 only good things come from bp actually being active and i’m so glad they know that (at least jensoo do so far) and are making changes at their new companies 🤩 this whole thing makes me laugh bcs yg has lost their 4 biggest stars and it’s all their fault 🤭
yes yes yesssssssssss i’ll give it to them and admit that it had its benefits back in the day (tho i doubt it was done on purpose lol i think yg was just lazy) but it got so old in the last few years, it really went on for wayyyyy too long! i just hope yg will see how the girls will undoubtedly thrive and flourish while doing things differently now that they’re free, and i hope that will make them Think and Reflect (might be wishful thinking tho), so they won’t make the same mistakes again with baemon/other ggs and bp in the next year 😐

In a statement, Newag denied developing any so-called "workshop-detection" software that caused "intentional failures" and threatened to sue Dragon Sector for slander and for violating hacking laws.
...
"We do not know who interfered with the train control software, using what methods and what qualifications," Newag said. "We also notified the Office of Rail Transport about this so that it could decide to withdraw from service the sets subjected to the activities of unknown hackers."
...
While Newag has contacted authorities to investigate the hacking, Janusz Cieszyński, Poland’s former minister of digital affairs, posted on X that the evidence appears to weigh against Newag.
"The president of Newag contacted me," Cieszyński wrote. "He claims that Newag fell victim to cybercriminals and it was not an intentional action by the company. The analysis I saw indicated something else, but for the sake of clarity, I will write about everything.
Newag president Zbigniew Konieczek said that "no evidence was provided that our company intentionally installed the faulty software. In our opinion, the truth may be completely different—that, for example, the competition interfered with the software."
Konieczek also accused Cieszyński of disseminating "false and highly harmful information about Newag."
