It's the LAZY people that walk thousands of miles across arid deserts?
They're often running from criminal violence in their own countries for peaceful lives. But somehow they now WANT to do crime?

I love the argument of people getting sex changes to spy on women in the bathroom because:
-1It’s never a woman spying on men
-2 even if you do catch a glimpse in the stall TF are you gonna see unless they’re wearing a romper they’re gonna have clothes on and the private parts are in the toilet
-3 nobody is worried about lesbians using the women’s bathroom/gays using the men’s bathroom
-and 4 regardless of gender if some cunt sticks their head under the door I’m caving their skull in with my foot

(via How to Argue Against Common Fallacies)
It’s definitely worth time to arm yourselves with knowledge about Logical Fallacies and how to combat them. The Republican Party is nothing but a bunch of know-nothings who think making more noise and accusations wins them arguments. In fact, it just exhausts everyone, which is also part of the plan. It’s better for all to know how to combat the bullshit.
Take some time and review these -- it’s going to be worth it.

I keep making this point too, like if a fetus is a baby then a caterpillar is a butterfly, like hard corn is popcorn then I guess, ideas are literal money, in that case, because I have some 'fetus' business ideas in my head so that means they're real businesses giving me real income today right? lmao

Idk, there is just something about a country denying the right to vote to the majority of the country's population kinda gives me the vibe that withholding your vote isn't gonna make the impact you think it is.
Maybe it's the over 4 million disenfranchised people who have been charged as felons.
Maybe it's the restrictive voting laws that disenfranchises disabled people
Perhaps the attempts to prevent military and overseas American from being able to vote
Could be the continued challenges of the Native population to have their votes counted
But idk! Yanno maybe I'm wrong and ALLLLLL of the big wig democrats for the next 4 years will go to every door of everyone who withheld their vote to have a cup of tea and talk about how the politicians can better appeal to people who refuse to get off their computer to vote.
I reckon a lotta folks are gonna learn to grow up the hard way over the next 4 years, on all sides.
Also, just wanna note for the record: trump got to campaign for EIGHT. YEARS. Harris for 107 days. Sorry she didn't have time to come have a spiritual moment with you personally. (This is for ppl who still insist she "didn't do enough" with her campaign. Foh with that shit, i doubt you've properly cleaned your asshole in that amount of time)
#idk why I'm thinking about this#i guess im just bored and my brain wants to complain. or maybe saw something that set my brain in motion#i know im a very logic focused person. ultimately that's what it comes down to tho in this.#it's just like ok you didn't vote and trump won and everything is gop run. now what?#now we bang our heads against a brick wall for half a decade and pray they don't completely eradicate democracy by the end#thankfully they don't all get along and it's a buncha folks who act like they are the rockstar so it'll be interesting to see the conflicts#but personally i would rather have had to write a letter to harris every day for 4 yrs than have to cope with what is coming#thankfully im in a much more privileged position than i used to be so i *should* be ok but i guess we'll find out#i just wanna kick a lotta shins right now. you were stupid and deserve pain for that stupidity to remind you to not be stupid again.

Yes, but this sort of thinking also guarantees that the same establishment Dems get voted in time and time again. I can tell you right now that I'm casting my vote for Marianne Williamson or some other progressive in the Dem primaries. They DO stand a chance at winning and that is NOT a vote for fascism.
Of course, whoever wins the Dem primaries is going to get my vote. Even if it is Biden.
But this sort of doomsday thinking makes it very difficult to empower any third parties, when the real work should be building coalitions and directing people's attentions away from the duopoly. It's hard as fuck, but it IS possible. Check out Workers Strike Back and the unionizing happening all over the country.
right now it’s almost halfway through 2023, and 2024 is an election year in the US. I have started to see a growing proliferation of posts suggesting that there is no difference between the republican and democratic parties–the exact same kind of posts I saw an awful lot of before the last major election here. I am unfollowing folks who post or reblog these sort of posts, as I consider these posts to be fascist propaganda framed as leftist discourse, designed to suppress anti-fascist votes and voters.
#so tired of this rhetoric that Dems are the only and right answer because of bad things happening due to GOP#like yes#Dems dont want to kill you#and thats an important difference#and in GOP controlled states thats often all you can ask for#but Dems maintain much of the status quo too#theyve learned how to act woke but never back that shit up with action#and ofc#that is much less bad than what GOP is out here doing trying to kill trans people and ban books and abortion#but the answer isnt always through the establishment#if we followed OPs logic#the world should have been fixed when Dems controlled both chambers of Congress#and we had our first Black president who was Dem#but no it did not work that way

The reason for Biden not to do this was to allow his son to remain collateral damage of the GOP war against his presidency and to leave him in the hands of the Trump DOJ for at least the next four years all to make a point of principle about being better, different, more righteous, more norm-honoring than Donald Trump. Truly. No one gives a fuck. If anything, that logic I just laid out sounds like one of those fastidious, hyper-process-oriented and baroque bits of reasoning that have of late left Democrats mesmerized while the real world is passing them by.
The Pardon
I fully support this pardon, and I encourage President Biden to go to TOWN on using his SCOTUS-approved unchecked powers of the presidency to pardon and protect and Trump-proof everyone and every institution he can before the fascists take over.
Do more, Joe. Really push the limits, because norms and traditions haven’t meant anything to anyone who isn’t an elected Democrat since 2016, and they will cease to exist in a little over a month.

I’ve had this feeling for a while, but the last few weeks have made it stronger: I feel like people are just sick of Trump, even people that are solid Republicans. Even aside from the politics and the threat to democracy that he represents, I’m just tired of hearing about him and all the vitriolic buffoonery that comes out of him. He’s a class clown that’s gone from occasionally funny to just annoying. And I’m sure there’s plenty of Republican voters that resent what an absolute cultish embarrassment he’s made of their party. Even if I had no other reason to vote, I would’ve still voted blue in the desperate hope that I might not have to hear about Trump anymore.
I mean... Yeah.
The other day, we had a whole group of Arizona Republicans (otherwise known as one of the most extreme and cultist state GOP parties in the country) coming out as the leaders of a Republicans for Harris taskforce. Republicans for Harris also immediately hit it big on Twitter. Haley Voters For Biden instantly changed their name to Haley Voters For Harris and told Haley herself to hit the bricks when she laughably threatened them with legal action. There were always a few Never Trump Republicans before, but like. Not many. And many of them have ventured like, one criticism and immediately fallen back into line when Trump posted one mean tweet about them, because they have spines like soufflés.
Now mind you, the entire national/establishment GOP is still completely and cravenly beholden to Trump in ways that defy all logical human understanding, but people who have voted Republican all their lives and did so habitually once or even twice for Trump are increasingly hitting breaking point, and that should be noted. If you want to know how much, the goddamn MORMONS are, allegedly, preparing to quit the GOP this election in larger volumes than they have voted for Democrats in at least 60 years. I don't know how much this will end up panning out, and they have always been at least somewhat skeptical of him in comparison to the completely deranged mainstream evangelical fundies, but. The Mormons. THE MORMONS. Voting for a black female Democrat for president? In my wildest fantasies, this makes me think of Blue Utah 2024 like Blue Indiana 2008 (yes, that happened, along with Blue Florida TWICE).
Trump does have and will always have his ever-dwindling base of diehard cultists, but they have not and will never be numerous enough to win a fair democratic election on their own, which is why the GOP has pulled every dirty trick in the book trying to ensure that they don't have to. But yes: there are many more of us than them, and if we finally pull together and quit arguing about dumb shit, we could get rid of Trump once and for all, and god. GOD. I long for that day so bad and I can finally think it might be coming. So let us NOT fucking screw this up, kay? Kay.

Considering how Musk and the GOP kept saying that we need economic pain and a reset and people are going to have to deal with their lives being worse for a while, I'm sure so many Republicans and non-voters are going to react completely calmly with the layoffs and slowdowns and cutbacks, because those are just logical reactions and elements of the new economic plan that was discussed, right?
Surely people will realize that's what they voted for, or didn't vote against. They should be okay with it! They'll totally understand that their sacrifice and struggle was necessary to Make America Great Again.
And surely they'll understand that a lot of the pain will be felt in the same battleground states that swung for Trump. And in the poorer, redder areas. And that the IIJA and CHIPS and IRA are going to be weakened, rolled up, probably gone entirely and the funding that came with it.
But they'll understand it's just part of the genius businessman plan.

Three months after the 2024 election, three major news sources STILL don't agree on the final presidential popular vote count.
Given that it is now January 2025, I figured all the states must have finally finished counting their 2024 presidential votes--including some of the slower Western states. (I'm looking at you 😒 California.)
So I thought I'd check in with three major sources of voting information: The New York Times, The Cook Political Report, and CNN Politics, to see what the final presidential popular vote tallies were.
The Numbers Are STILL Slightly Different
What surprised me is that these three major sources of election information are still not in full agreement about the presidential vote counts.
Granted, the small difference between the highest (NY Times) and lowest (Cook Report) vote tallies for each candidate are small and not significant: 1,631 votes for Harris, and 1,576 votes for Trump.
Nevertheless, given that some states were won by laser-thin margins, it is still concerning that these three election news sources have three different tallies for both Harris and Trump.
Sources Please
Unfortunately, neither The Cook Political Report nor CNN listed the source of their vote tallies nor when they last updated their figures. At least the Times listed their source: the Associated Press, and noted that they had last updated their figures on Dec. 30th. It would be helpful if all major election information sources did the same.
No Logical Consistency in the Tallies
Given that the Times reported higher tallies for both Harris and Trump than were reported by The Cook Report and CNN, one might think that the latter two sources stopped updating their vote counts sooner than the Times.
The problem with that hypothesis though is that The Cook Political Report's tallies were actually higher for the TOTAL popular vote than were the Times' tallies: 155.2 million vs. 154.9 million, a difference of 0.3 million (or 300,000) votes. (Unfortunately, CNN Politics didn't report the total popular vote count.)
And if that was not confusing enough, the Times indicated that 100% of the votes in all the states had been counted (even California)--and yet, they also noted that their total popular presidential vote count of 154.9 million represented > 99% of the vote--NOT 100%.
Imagine If All Votes Were Hand Counted😳
Consider that these relatively minor discrepancies in the vote tallies occurred with electronic ballot counting.
Could you imagine how inconsistent the vote tallies would be if those hundreds of millions of votes were counted by hand--like Trump and some of the GOP want?
Pure chaos!

I'm genuinely wondering (and scared of) if or when we are going to start seeing authors and content creators get censored or even jailed because like
If the gop is simultaneously trying to eliminate queer identities and sexual freedom from the public eye and ban porn on top of trying to fudge the law to make things like being trans or gay and existing in the presence of a child an actual felony pedophilia charge, I'm just wondering if we are eventually going to see the creators of entirely fictional content be charged with sex crimes because our content can hypothetically be accessed by children, or they'll create some new bullshit religious nonsense like "production of morally unrighteous material" (which, I'm gonna bring up, is something that has already happened in other hostile foreign nations)
I just. There's not enough time in the day to verbalize how their hatred is based on hating that other people are allowed to think and believe differently than they do and they "know" they're "doing the right thing" by trying to literally force you to follow their beliefs, they genuinely believe they are "saving you", and these freaks legitimately want you to die if you're not some heterosexual gender conforming God fearing Christian
Even members of my own extended family want to preach how "all abortion is murder" when they literally tried to bully my grandmother into aborting my mom because it was a baby born out of wedlock
I just wish actual kindness and logic and morality won in America for once instead of us witnessing the rise of American fascism for not even the first time in our country's history
