Most of the drama is with the 2 older pairs, but these boys are GREAT. One of them is out gay (with his shit together) who hooks up with hot jock CHAOS bisexual and we all think we know where it's going (because when does the chaos bi have his shit together and not act like a predator slut? - yes I AM looking at you, Mame). Except, Plustor fucking TOTALLY has his shit together! He researches gay sex and how to do it right, he asks his new bf questions, he communicates his self-confidence issues over never having been with a dude before. He talks. They talk. As a result these kids spend most of the show annoyed by the unnecessary drama of their piers who do NOT have their shit together and being the best bfs ever.

What, you surprised? Mork goes through an entire identity crisis and manages NOT to drag anyone else into his drama. He keeps his life together, takes care of his family, asks his gay uncles for advice, realizes he is in love. He does not force that love on his beloved. Instead he stays in the side lines, tries to be a good supportive friend to the object of his affection, and a consistently chooses the path of decent human being. He's careful and kind and communicative when he eventually does make his move. Stand up dude! Adorable dimple! We likie.

2. In an old post where you talked about the type of relationship that the main gods had with each other you said that there was a lot to talk about the relationship between Zeus AND Apollo!! Can you take advantage and tell it?

I can definitely talk about Apollo and Zeus!

Basically, Apollo is Zeus' favorite, his pride and joy. I know a lot of people believe Athena is the favorite, but I say Apollo is just as beloved, if not more and I'll tell you why I think so. I'll start by putting together various myths that surround both of them.

1) Zeus' protectiveness

Starting with Apollo's (and Artemis') birth, even though Zeus didn't directly help Leto, in one version, he asked Zephyrus to carry Leto away to Poseidon, so that Poseidon could protect her. He also managed to calm down Hera by the time the twins were born.

And when later Apollo killed Python, according to Pindar, Gaia wanted to send him to tartarus. But obviously that didn't happen and we can assume that it was because Zeus intervened on his son's behalf.

In Euripides' play, there's a particularly cute segment where Apollo, as a little boy, went to Zeus, wrapped his arms around him and supplicated him to deal with Gaia who has been interfering with his oracular business. And of course Zeus agrees and makes Gaia lose her prophetic influence on mortals.

There's also a version of Coronis' tale where Ischys, the guy with whom Coronis had cheated on Apollo with, got killed by Zeus.

In the satires written by Lucian, Zeus got defensive when Momos made fun of Apollo.

Lastly, this is just my interpretation, but in stories where Zeus intervenes in a couple of fights - the Apollo vs Heracles , Apollo vs Idas - makes me feel like Zeus did it because he was overly protective of Apollo (just like did with Athena - Pallas)

2) The way Zeus appreciates Apollo

In Iphigenis in Tauris, when Apollo killed Python and took over the delphic oracle for himself, Zeus is shown to have been proud that Apollo has started serious business at such a young age.

The opening of Homer's hymn to Pythian Apollo shows us Zeus welcoming Apollo and personally pouring a drink to his son. How sweet is that :3

In another scene where Apollo is entertaining the gods, Zeus and Leto together are shown proudly watching their son (Hera is absent oop-).

In the Iliad, whenever he commands Apollo to do something, he calls him "Dear Phoebus" (I've also seen it translated as "friend Phoebus) which is very sweet and shows that Zeus is quite fond of Apollo.

And in Lucian's work, he also appreciated Apollo by telling Momos how much work his son has to do everyday, and how difficult the job is for him.

3) Zeus grants a lot of Apollo's requests

even when he's personally offended. Take the story of king Periphas, whose reputation had personally offended Zeus and he wanted to destroy the king and his entire kingdom, but when Apollo asked Zeus to not do that, he ceased from killing them. In the case of Prometheus too, Zeus agreed to free the Titan when Apollo begged for it.

When Apollo appointed Hermes as the messenger god, Zeus approved that.

He also resurrected Asclepius on Apollo's request, in spite of Apollo killing the cyclops .

And here is what sealed my belief that Apollo is no less of a favorite than Athena: once Athena was using mantic dice to give out prophecies, and Apollo was unhappy with this. He complained to Zeus about it and Zeus made dice divination inferior (and Athena just threw away the dice lol)

Now this is again my opinion, but the whole thing with "Apollo tricking the Fates into postponing Admetus' death" is quite a serious offense, but surprisingly Apollo does not get punished for that. I like to think that that's because Zeus gave him the permission for that (maybe not openly, but more discreetly).

4) Apollo has some favorite child privileges.

He is said to be sitting on the immediate right of Zeus (according to Callimachus), he gets to use Zeus' lightning bolts and the aegis too (like Athena does), and he is the only one allowed to read the will/mind of Zeus.

5) Apollo acts as Zeus' right hand man

Now this could be said of Hermes and Athena also too, but I'm pointing this out because people tend to easily forget it. In the Iliad, Zeus sent Apollo to help the Trojans, since he was secretly rooting for Troy ,in spite of taking a neutral stance, and Athena was fighting against them. He also entrusted his son Sarpedon's body to Apollo and asked him to clean it up and hand it over to Thanatos and Hypnos.

In Orphic theogony, a similar responsibility is given to Apollo - he is asked by Zeus to bury the remains of Zagreus.

In the account given by Plato on soulmates, after Zeus tore apart the humans, he tasked Apollo with stitching them and bringing them back to life.

And of course the whole deal with Apollo's oracles is to pass on the will of Zeus to the mortals. Apollo is basically serving as an extension of Zeus. Arguably, that is one of the most important responsibilities and Apollo was the one Zeus trusted it with. He also actively prevents other gods from taking away this role from Apollo.

6) Apollo's rebellious nature and how Zeus deals with it.

In Alcaeus' hymn, when Apollo is born, Zeus adorns him with a golden headband, gives him a golden chariot driven by swans and asks him to go to Delphi to establish his laws. But Apollo instead just takes the chariot and flies away to Hyperborea and stays there for a whole year (rebellious from the get go XD) Of course, Zeus doesn't punish Apollo for this.

(I'm not bringing up Apollo and Poseidon's servitude under Laomedon because even though it is believed to have been a result of Apollo and Poseidon rebelling against Zeus, we don't really have evidence to say that that was the case. I only vaguely remember there being evidence of it in some scholia but I'm not able to find it at the moment so. Also in the Iliad especially, the coup - whose participants are Hera, Athena and Poseidon- and the servitude under Laomedon are clearly two separate, unrelated events)

But when Apollo killed Cyclopes in retaliation for Zeus killing Asclepius, Zeus intended to throw him into tartarus. This was an instance where he was clearly very upset with his son, and probably felt betrayed too. Even so, he changed his mind thanks to Leto, which makes me feel like he did not fully intend to carry out that punishment, and it was more a decision made in the spur of the moment. And as the alternate punishment, he made Apollo serve a slave and spend time on the Earth. This is in contrast with say, Hera - who was tied and dangled above tartarus. Zeus could have done something similar with Apollo because while one could argue that exiling and making Apollo a slave is pretty humiliating, it's still not as bad as being hung over tartarus. Besides, Zeus made Apollo serve under a very kind hearted king (and by the looks of it, Apollo actually enjoyed his time there, being in love with Admetus and all). So I think even after all that had happened, Zeus still forgave Apollo and went easy on him and even agreed to grant godhood to Asclepius on Apollo's request.

7) Apollo as Zeus' eldest son

Apollo is Zeus' first son in Hesoid's Theogony (born after 19 daughters). Putting it in the context of ancient Greek society, that would make Apollo quite important for Zeus in a way that no other child can be. And while Homer doesn't explicitly say that Apollo is the first son, it is quite evident in his works (Homeric hymn to Apollo, the Iliad) that Apollo's image is that of a first born son, - he is the only one who has access to Zeus' will, all the gods except Zeus trembled when he entered Olympus, Zeus often turned to him for help during the trojan war.

Of course, Zeus is never going to give away his throne to anyone and Apollo has no serious intent of overthrowing his father, but some scholars share the view that Homer paints Apollo as a potential usurper of Zeus, but also emphasizes how Apollo is very much on Zeus' side, using his powers for Zeus and not against him.

Moreover, Apollo being Zeus' first son and sort of an unofficial crown prince would neatly explain all the ways in which Zeus favors Apollo over his other children.

Lastly, this is my take on them: They both obviously have a strong bond founded on love and respect for each other. The road wasn't and isn't always smooth for them. I like to think that Apollo held some bitterness towards Zeus for not helping Leto (before eventually letting it go), but he still wants his father's attention and approval. In return, Zeus has complete trust in Apollo, which is why he entrusts a lot of important duties to him. After all, he knows very well of Apollo's struggles and his efforts to rise to power. Zeus might sometimes be more stern on Apollo than he is on the others, but that's because he doesn't want anyone saying anything unpleasant about his son. I also think he doesn't entirely understand or approve of Apollo's extreme attachment to some humans, but he is ready to turn a blind eye as long as nothing drastic is happening (not without his permission at least lol). It's easy for some people to call Zeus a bad father, but we should also remember that despite being knowledgeable and wise, Apollo can be a difficult child to deal with - he is haughty, reckless. Messes with primordial deities and cosmic order, wears his heart on his sleeve, forgets his duties when he falls in love. It's like he is a perpetual teenager not only in appearance, but also at his heart lol and Zeus does try his best to deal with it in the best way possible :') But they do get along well most of the times and no matter how bad their once in a while conflicts can get, I think nothing is irreconcilable :)

i just beat the game a few days ago so here are all my thoughts about it. spoilers under the read more

i really loved all of the characters, but my favorites were definitely fuyusaka and kisaragi! i love cute girls who pilot mechs they rock

i really wanted to like yakushiji bc her design is so cute but i just found her so off-putting. i hated how her whole character/storyline was centered around juro and i wish that we got to see more of her friendship with kisaragi

the kyuta shiba twist made my jaw drop like i was NOT expecting that twist

kisaragi x ogata is def my fave pairing like i love the bad boy x good girl ship it's very cute

any time miura and hijiyama were talking about fighting in ww2 or for their country or whatever i was just like 🫣🫣🫣 bc like... you were both fighting for a fascist country 😭 i mean ig you could argue they didnt add that stuff in the simulation but still. i found it a little weird that the game didnt really offer any critique or commentary or explanation on that aspect and i cant fully enjoy hijiyama x okino bc of this. idk i'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this part

the rts mode fucking sucked oh my god i hated it. i found it really irritating and tedious even playing on casual difficulty

i really enjoyed the thirteen different paths and getting to see events from each character's perspective

i liked the ending but i was kinda expecting some big last twist after the final battle idk

i still dont really understand morimura and ida's plans with fuyusaka and amiguchi and taking over their bodies lol. anytime they started talking about that i kinda tuned out

maybe im just stupid but i feel like i didnt understand what was happening throughout any of gouto's route

i was actually really surprised they actually had a canon gay romance but i liked it even if it's kinda weird like i said earlier

miwako is an angel and needs to be protected. i was expecting some sort of reveal around her but im glad she is just a sweet nice girl

overall i thought the story was really cool and i loved the sector hopping aspects and all the reveals. it was fun!!

Why I like them: It's hard to put into words but I'll try; 

I like his arc with his family, and while it happened a bit fast, I like how he's taking steps to reconnect with his family. (I go up and down with Endeavor.) I love that he's taking responsibility for his past actions and doing his best to improve in the future. I also like his personality; he's stoic, rude, blunt, and sassy but at the same time he's innocent, sweet, caring, and kind.

Why I don’t: There's not anything I really dislike about him except he doesn't really have any good outfits, save one.

A wish: He beats Dabe's ass to hell and back, then bounces him into prison.

Ye Qi Ran [My Tooth, Your Love]: One of the main characters was IN LOVE with Qi Ran all throughout school. He did everything for this man, but when he confessed, Qi Ran ran away. His ex was over it, but that didn't stop Qi Ran from trying, which included him talking and becoming friendly with his ex's new guy. He found out he knew the new guy's sister, and they went from enemies to MARRIED. To recap Qi Ran's bisexual swag: he had a man in uni doing EVERYTHING for him short of breathing for him, he left him, got married, had a kid, came back, befriended the ex's new guy, THEN MARRIED HIS SISTER. Xiao Li Cheng [HIStory 4: Close to You]: I could pick any of the HIStory men because they all have that bisexual swag, but it's Li Cheng's commitment to his bisexuality that makes him the winner among his fellow HIStorians. Li Cheng had been in love with a former classmate, and when she started working with him, he convinced his best friend to be in a fake relationship. Why Mu Ren agreed is also why I nominated Li Cheng - the swag! Mu Ren put up the smallest fight because it's hard to tell Li Cheng no when he looks like a god, but while Li Cheng was trying to get the girl, Mu Ren was falling slowly in love. YET Li Cheng was the one to confess first by licking Mu Ren's mouth! Li Cheng was insane for that move, but he made sure to do his homework. He confided in his gay roommate. He asked his other gay friend who was in a long-term relationship. He told the girl he was originally after. When the show starts, Aoki is firmly crushing on Hashimoto, but after the mix-up, he realizes he likes Ida. He panics but not because he is bi, but because he thinks he is basic! He doesn't understand how anyone could be attracted to him, YET Ida, who never even thought about a relationship, decides to date Aoki because of his sincerity, and Hashimoto punches her crush in defense of Aoki. Aoki's swag is that amazing that he turns everyone's life upside and makes them all better!

Coronabeth kisses Gideon’s knuckles. Dulcinea has Gideon physically show off but Gideon, bound by her promise to Harrow, cannot talk and thus any typical structures for wooing are inverted. By her silence she is rendered as cool and unbreachable as a maiden in a tower

Something something Gideon’s physical body and her personhood always being someone else’s property.

All of Jeannemary’s dialogue with Magnus being parenthesized and in a smaller type is such a fun little touch

Second, “we are all the sons and daughters that the House of the Ninth possess.” The Twelfth Night of it all…the performance of it all. (“I am all the daughters of my father’s house and all the brothers too.” 2.4)

The choice of ‘spawned’ to refer to Harrow’s birth feels deliberate and I’m sure I’ll find out why later. Also the Scandalous Nudity being her face rather than her body when they’re both bare…it’s about living around and under the foot of someone your whole life but never being allowed to know them

P. 234 - Gideon can’t even say Harrow’s name aloud to anyone else…I wish to die! Swiftly!

P. 246 - Gideon has a hot bath for the first time (yay!) and wonders “whether water could get inside of you and make you sick.” God the Ninth House really is living in Vampire Times. Aristotle, you there?

The way all the different houses approach necromancy and the necro/cav dynamic is SO interesting! Cam’s line on p. 235 about the Eight “breed[ing] batteries” absolutely chilled me. Also the juxtaposition between the Eighth using cavaliers as an energy source vs Ianthe, absolute freak, taking a chunk out of Babs. The physical body vs the energy which propels it. Then contrasting that with pairs like Magnus & Abigail (rip) and Cam & Pal who mentally and emotionally rely on each other instead. It isn’t parasitic. KING AND LIONHEART! GO CRAZY AAH! GO STUPID AAH!

I am using all of my meager brain cells to formulate a thought about Camilla and Marta’s fight that isn’t just. wrow. women. OK. The description is short and brutal like the fight itself. The line about Cam fighting like a grease fire works so well my blood was in my EARS! When she dislocated Marta’s arm my own arm jerked back in shock. Fully almost yeeted the book

The description of Isaac’s body as a “broken sieve” really upset me and also harkens back to Harrow being empty as a quiver. The necromancer’s body as something which exists to be filled by energy and power, but also something so vulnerable as to demand the physical protection and occasional energy of its cavalier

P. 292 - “When [Dulcinea] breathed it sounded like custard sloshing around an air conditioner.” Absolutely Fucking Wretched!!!

P. 294 - “Mostly cancer and just a little bit of women.” each House really is fucked up in new and exciting ways

Gideon’s nightmare of finding Jeannemary’s severed limbs in her bed really kneecaps you. It’s giving Bluebeard. It’s giving Robber Bridegroom. It’s giving cavaliers as expendable physical forms, and that kind of body horror hasn’t quite been present aside from the avulsion room which wasn’t so bad

Operation Deku Day- Izuku Midoriya

author’s note: hiiii! so today’s inspiration is drunk sex. anyone who’s ever had drunk sex before knows that shit hit different. Something about it is soo nasty and hot ugh I’m a sucker. I firmly believe that izuku is an insatiable sex god don’t let that innocent sweetness fool you so he was the perfect candidate for my idea. please enjoy! all characters are aged up 18 +

summary: For Izuku’s 21st birthday you and the girls decide to throw him a surprise birthday party. As the night progressed, you and Izuku got real drunk and couldn’t keep your hands off each other... in more ways than one.

You spent all week preparing for this surprise party for Izuku. It was his birthday and you really wanted him to feel special and appreciated for being a great friend and loving boyfriend. You were pretty good at pretending that all the things you snuck home were just “things for the apartment” instead of decorations and all his favorite foods for the party. Bakugo being Izuku’s childhood friend couldn’t pass up on helping you and everyone from your graduating class of 1-A prep for the party, keeping everything hidden from Izuku. 

“MIND YOUR DAMN BUSINESS DEKU!” He’d yell at him if the green haired pro hero asked one too many questions. Today was finally the day to set up the party. You just had to keep everything hidden for a little while longer. You woke Izuku up with kisses and a plate of his favorite breakfast. He’d always loved pancakes but for whatever reason, he loved your waffles. Izuku could eat them for dinner if you’d let him. He smiled and ate his food, gushing about how he’s finally 21. 

“I can drink with you now, Y/N.” He said with a mouthful of waffles. You grinned and kissed him on the cheek as he ate. “So, what are we doing today?” He asked. Even though today was his birthday, the hero still had to work. 

“Oh.. uhm.. well.” You struggle to tell Midoriya that you had “nothing planned” knowing that he’d be hurt by that. 

“Maybe we could just go out to the bar and have a few drinks?” You lie, wincing at the upcoming disappointment in his voice. He nodded with a weak smile, trying not to seem too disappointed at the lazy plans. But he was grateful anyways and kind of excited to see the bar scene. After eating his birthday breakfast, he stood up from the bed and got ready for the day. While he was in the bathroom you text the mass group chat with the entire class in it named “Operation Deku Day!” Mina had already been messaging you all throughout the morning reminding everyone that the party starts at 9 pm; right when Izuku is expected to be home. 

“So what kind of cake does he like? I’m at the bakery right now.” Todoroki texts followed by an image of the options of cake the menu had. 

“Get him chocolate.” You text, giggling at the plan all coming together nicely. You wait for a response while looking at all the gifs and memes everyone’s sending sharing the same excitement for the party.

“Cool. I’ll have them decorate it and drop it off at your place, Y/N. Just let me know when Midoriya leaves.” Shoto texts back, you responding with an Ok and answering any questions about the party from the others. 

“Your phone’s going off a lot today, Y/N. Who are you talking to?” Izuku asks, his hips adorning a towel as he just got out of the shower. You look his wet body up and down, almost forgetting to respond to the question before he gets too curious.

“OH! Uh, It’s just the girls. Yaoyorozu wished you a happy birthday.” You laugh nervously, clearly awful at keeping secrets. Izuku just smiles and tells you to tell her he said thank you and got dressed in his hero costume. 

“Well, I’m off. I love you Y/N. I’ll see you later tonight.” Izuku says giving you a small peck on the lips as he leaves your shared apartment. You wave goodbye as he shuts the door and jumped up from your bed, texting the group chat

 “THE EAGLE HAS LEFT THE NEST. OPERATION DEKU DAY IS AGO.” 

Momo, Mina and Uraraka spend all day decorating the house and setting the ambiance for the party. Todoroki brought the cake and put it in the fridge and starting making a small ice sculpture in the shape of All Might for the spiked punch he made (He was known for making a good cocktail). Kyoka made a playlist for the party, she was the DJ afterall. She tweaked the stereo so the sound system would be JUMPIN and laughed maniacally as she knew she was gonna rock the fucking house down. Katsuki insisted on cooking since “You can’t cook half as good as he can.” Or at least that’s what Katsuki said. He handed a hot dish of buffalo chicken dip (my favorite) to Mineta, who insisted on helping with... idk something.

“It’s hot on the bottom, idiot. If you drop my dip I’m gonna drop my fucking fist down your throat.” Bakugo shouts, making Mineta nervous as he walks carefully with the dish. Sero and Yaoyorozu were putting the finishing touches on the decorations as you check the clock on your phone. Shit. It was 8:59. You see a text you received from Izuku 30 minutes ago saying he was on his way home and another from just now saying he’s coming upstairs. You squeal and start panicking. He was probably already on your floor. 

“Everybody ready? Izuku’s home!” You yell over everyone’s excited chatter. Everyone replied in a harmonious yes and took their places. You run towards the door and adjust your strapless dress, turning off the lights. You stand behind the houseplant by the door and almost squeal in excitement as you hear the door click unlocked. 

“Y/N?” You hear Izuku say nervously as he turned on the lights. He gasps as everyone jumps out from their hiding places and yell 

“SURPISE!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZUKU!” 

He smiles brightly and grabs you, giving you the biggest hug while lifting you off your feet. 

“Wow, thanks everyone!” He says excitedly, looking around the room to see all his friends. He became a little emotional knowing that you all went through the trouble of planning a surprise birthday party for him. You wipe his tears and give him a big fat kiss, earning an excited spin from him. 

“We love you Izuku. Now, let’s enjoy your party!” You said as you let him to the delicious spread of food to start Izuku off. Kyoko started the music and danced along to the beat to get everyone to join in on the fun. Mina pulled Uraraka towards the living to dance with her as she waved Asui over to join in. Shoto manned the punch bowl, serving everyone with a half smile hoping they like his punch. Midoriya walks over to grab a plate of food from Katsuki.

“Yo, Ka-Chan!” He yelled over the music. Bakugo smirks and gives the birthday boy his plate. They chat over the food and laugh together as they have a good time in each other’s company. Katsuki seemed to cease the usual teasing, just for this one special night. You giggle and run over to the dancefloor with your cup of punch in toe. You drink and dance at the same time, spilling a little bit of punch as it ran down your chin. Mina laughs and takes your hands dancing along to the beat with you. The night was young and the party was a success. You were just glad Midoriya seemed to be having a great time.

March Manga/hua/hwa Reads

plot: A young man receives a relic he had given his younger brother who went missing ages ago for his birthday. He is devastated to learn that his brother had died in another world, cause? Betrayal by those he trusted most. He decides to go to that world to get revenge on all who had wronged his brother.

This one was amazing. The main character although the ruthless, uncaring types, has a soft spot on characters younger than him and it's adorable. He a character who knows who to care for and not to care too much. He understands his main goal even when getting involved with those around. I love his way of doing things and the way he keeps surprising everyone with how sharp he is. It's really well written and I'm so excited to see where it goes. A solid 8 stars.

It also has a novel for those who want to read it.

plot: A young widow living an aimless life in a small apartment meets the son of the landlord who ends up moving next door. The son, who is an athlete in highschool and has the appetite of two beasts is invited the young woman for dinner. Thus, starts a new point of her life where she begins to find her old love for cooking.

This one is absolutely adorable. 8 stars too. The lady is such a beauty God it kills me. And the way she's always so hyped to cook for him to the point she begins to start loving cooking again. The boy is also adorable and we basically get to watch him mature. The romance part of this is quite slow-paced. After all it features a widow getting over her husband's death and a clueless highschooler. It's just mostly very wholesome and I had no alarms blaring at any point in my head.

-> Boy's Abyss

plot: The story that follows a young boy struggling with his painful existence of life. He meets his favorite idol, someone he used to watch to escape reality, behind his town's convenience store. Getting involved with her, he is pulled into a further hole of lies, obsession and betrayal threatening to tear his life apart.

I'll be honest. I started this at the beginning of March and I'm still not even halfway through with it. It's already done way more emotional damage than it should. But art style, and interesting plot-wise it's very...unique. Ngl angst lovers will gobble this shit up. 5 stars bc I'm not good with angst personally.

-> My Love Mix Up

plot: It all starts with Aoki borrowing his crush's eraser only to find out that it has Ida's -the boy sitting in front of him- name written on it! Even worse, Ida saw the eraser in Aoki's hand thinks it's his!?!? Well, for the sake of his crush''s dignity, he might as well play along! A sweet story of miscommunication blossoming into highschool love!!!

This one was absolutely adorable. One thing I particularly love about the miscommunication is that how it was resolved peacefully with no unneeded drama. No sir, this manga is a happy wholesome manga for our two extra special boys! I love how open Aoki is with his feelings while Ida is still trying to figure what feelings even mean. I also love the sideship in this manga featuring Aoki's cr- I mean, ex-crush. 10 stars.

also adorable. Both characters were lovable. I wish it wasn't so rushed though. If the manga had been a bit more slow paced I feel like their character development would've been even more *chef's kiss*. Also, a purely personal opinion; but the changing artstyle from comedic to serious didn't really mesh well? Except that's probably just me. All in all the art is super pretty and both characters are adorable in their own ways. 6 stars.

other news, im halfway through kieta hatsukoi and it's just- so flippin adorable.

usually i hate the miscommunication trope. it just usually bothers me so much. but this wasnt that. this was purposeful and careful and came from a genuinely good place. and i love that so much.

also- Aoki and Hashimoto are officially my comfort idiots one and two and i adore them with everyone atom of my body.

like this is probably the gay in me- but can i just keep hashimoto? can i keep her and hug her and love her and protect her and just- UGHHHHH!

not but. these characters are just so adorable and sweet and loveable and yeah yeah, i might be blazing through these too quickly, but i can always rewatch and overanalyse after.

let me just enjoy the adorableness.

And Iisten, I say this all the time - very, VERY few tropes are actually “bad”. Some are just much harder to execute well than others. Miscommunication is one of those. It works well for comedies, but in dramas and romances, we tend to find it annoying because it only shows us that a couple isn’t in tune with each other. Kieta Hatsukoi gets away with it because a) the initial miscommunication was meant with the best of intentions and Aoki’s assumption that it couldn’t hurt anyone but himself, b) all subsequent miscommunications come from a place of personal insecurity and/or the characters trying to support each other in what they think the others want, c) it is used primarily for comedy. And when it’s used for angst? The miscommunication never comes in the form of lies and deceit. Their intentions are always good, they always want to help each other, so yeah, it’s hard to get mad at that.

Oh my god, all four of our mains though! Their group dynamic means everything to me!

And you talk about Hashimoto but friend, as a bisexual, seeing Aoki fall in love with Hashimoto then with Ida? Highkey relate. Boy really said, “My type? Ah yes, Kindness Incarnate™.” The universe replied, “And their gender?” And Aoki said, “Yes.” Me too, honey, me too.

On a different Euphoria note, im gonna talk about each of the characters real quick bc I have Thoughts. [Disclaimer: i watched s1e1-5 last night, thats the info I have. Plus a handful of out-of-context (for me) spoilers of s1/2 stuff.]

(Under the cut bc I dont wanna bore or bother anyone w my rambles)

Rue- babygirl. I wanna hold her. But I also know that if I went to East Highland, I probably wouldn't be friends with her. For, yanno, the drug reasons. My brother would probably know her tho. But this isn't irl this is my thoughts so like. Zendaya.... is fucking.... incredible. And like. The shifting of addiction from a substance to a person? Yeah, that shit hits. The fixation on something is, I believe, a universal human experience. These vary in length and intensity, but we all know what its like to have a passion for something that obscures everything else. [Ooooh that's a good note for Nate. Put a pin in that thought, Ida] But that combined with the drugs and also trying to navigate how you feel about someone? Yeah!!!!! Yeah. That shit HITS!!! and when its queer? *drops*

Because like. Yeah. Exactly. And Zendaya and Hunter perform that so fucking well. Rue heaps shit onto her plate (or shit is heaped on for her- no one can really tell the difference, let's be real) and so when she meets Jules and literally her life begins to change because of this stranger, this new girl, who doesn't know Rue- who doesn't have a pre-decided notion or idea or opinion on this girl. Ugh. Its so good. And Jules is just. Such a great character and like. Consistent?

I may or may not be in love with Jules. (Thats bs bc I am in fact in love with her but Anyway...) Shes so fucking cute and pretty and also just like. Me????? In certain ways. I think I'd get along with Jules- even if its just a surface level friendship. Shes strong and kind and just. Like. So.... such a beautiful soul kinda person. She does make some... choices I would not make. But I understand she has a reason to do those things. I dont understand the reason and honestly I'm not sure if I really care. I just care that shes safe and that she knows she's loved. And her ability to navigate all of Rue's stuff- and clarifying a boundary!?!?!? Hell yeah!! I just. I think she's neat. I have hope for her and her story.

Nate... ok. So. Jacob Elordi is. Hot. But from the fucking beginning, Nate is shown to be an asshole. And honestly, im incredibly thankful for that. Because if he was shown from the beginning as someone who would be kind or honest or just like plain Sweet, I know I would like him as a character, hoping for moments for that to shine. But no, no. Its so easy for me to be like "damn, this motherfucker is the worst piece of shit. Thank god."

But beyond that, hes fucking fascinating. Maybe hes supposed to be a commentary (to a degree) on, like, what happens when young boys discover porn. Maybe hes just a fucking manipulative psychopath. Because like honestly. The whole "Tyler" thing... what did Jules ever do to you, except like, kinda make a fool of you at McKay's party? Like??????? Dude? Unless he knows about Jules and his dad???? But like? Baby its not your business and your dad already spoke with Jules and Jules already said that she wouldn't tell anyone? Like oh my God you're crazy. It is a little funny, though, to think about what he was thinking when we saw him smile at his phone when he was texting Jules. Was it because he genuinely was touched by the sweet interactions, or was he getting off on the manipulation and lying? And like. Did he imagine the night "Tyler" meeting Jules to go differently? Or was it all along a plot to just. Threaten to blackmail Jules? And also? Nate, you also received and sent nudes? So like. She literally could ruin your life much more than you could ruin hers. Altho the system would be unfortunately biased against her because she's trans so maybe hes putting all his chips on that???

But yeah. Hes fascinating. Hes insane. Hes hot in a twisted way that I enjoy watching but im also relieved that if he gets any shit thrown at him, I hope it sticks, because he deserves it.

The first time I laughed out loud to this show, though, was when we see Nate kill a man in a hypothetical kidnapping of Maddy. And then we cut to Nate facing Maddy on some sidewalk and he tells her "I would do anything for you." I think he may even say he would kill for her. And she just goes, "oh my god, you're literally the sweetest guy ever." Like!!! Ok I know its a moment for the audience to see how fucked up he is but like babe. Honey. Hes. He literally would. Without hesitation or thought. Fuck, he even beat someone up because you really did piss him off! Like!!!!!!! Danger danger danger!!! And of course the aaaaudience knows this and not Maddy herself but. Its just. Ridiculous.

Speaking of Maddy... wow. Man. Ouch. Oof. She is. So wrapped up in Nate. She made her entire confidence in him. Just like he wanted her to. Or maybe he didn't even plan that and maybe she didn't see anything he was doing. But it was not lost on me that she was wearing the Sharon Tate coat when they were watching the abuse survivor video. And the line of Rue's narration, "what made her really feel sick was that she knew... no matter what Nate did, she would always love him." (Or something like that.) And that's the thing. She thinks or she planned to have him wrapped around her finger, when instead he just pulled her deeper and deeper in to his .... mess. Shes an asshole and a victim. She also does not help her case in being an asshole to others for other reasons. But yeah uh. Wow.

Kat!!!!!! Ok listen. I think. She is powerful, but she thinks she's more powerful than she actually is. I... I mean, ok, at the rawness of it all, im terrified for her. I'm terrified for her because of the choices she's made. But this probably rounds up to my final point-

Sex is not the end-all-be-all and these are teenagers whose hormones are fucking complicated. Like, ok, duh. But like. Wow. Maybe its because of the way I was raised, maybe its because of my own internal struggles of trying to figure shit out about myself. But like. Damn. The synopsis of the show being "high schoolers trying to do Life while facing drugs, sex, and violence" (or Whatever) is so. Wow. Yep, that hits it on the nose. These kids, in this corner of the world, in this high school are so tied up in each other and just like. Wow. Its so. Like. I can see why the show is called a drama, but at the same time, I just find it a comedy. Becaus these are ultimately kids doing the worst fucked up shit that I can't comprehend. And thats entertainment, I guess. I think my line in my previous euphoria post really is my summarization of how I feel about the show-

I'm at peace with finding this show ridiculous because its not me facing this shitty consequences. Its an easy to analyze show, easy to watch in a sense that, yeah man, thats what happens, what did you fucking expect?

Thats an incredibly apathetic and probably wild view on fictional teenagers tearing each other apart in the most .... brutally non-physical ways.
