there’s something so personal about the scene in fantasy high s1e7 where gorgug calls himself stupid & fabian, who up to that point had basically entirely been acting like the bad kids (especially gorgug) were beneath him & had also been the one calling ragh stupid two lines ago, instantly says “okay, do not put yourself down like that. don’t you dare do that to yourself.” like it was obvious he liked the bad kids at that point but the instinct to protect his friends manifesting as an immediate strong refusal of gorgug’s self-deprecating talk kills me. that boy loves his friends so bad oh my god i feel sick.

The Dark

Hyacinth (Cinth for short) is the manifestation of Eclipse’s not-so-positive emotions, the ones he keeps buried deep and never acknowledges like sadness, grief, and longing. Hyacinth’s very name is a testament to these deeply buried feelings and desires as the flowers symbolize the desire for forgiveness. Due to them being the representation of this, Cinth is very timid and melancholy, and at times emotional.

Black dog symbolism—and just dog symbolism in general—is the main inspiration behind Cinth’s overall design; dogs are social creatures who seek attention and affection though if they are not socialized correctly they can become unpredictable and dangerous.

While Eclipse has a hard time truly accepting Bright—as with most of the friends—their presence is easier to accept than Cinth’s, and unlike Bright, Eclipse refuses to acknowledge Cinth’s existence for awhile just as he refuses to acknowledge the existence of the feelings and desires Cinth represents.

True happiness for Eclipse is hard to believe and accept, but the grief for what has been lost and the longing for it to return is even harder to come to terms with for him.

a mood board for @tokkaweek 2023, day ii: flowers/gifts. What a fun little prompt! Flowers seem at the surface like the opposite of what one would associate with Tokka: fragile, fleeting, requiring an abundance of care. But then we stop and we think and we see these two for not just who they are separately but who they can be together. They consistently see each other at their worst and still choose to stand by each other and help the other be better. They hang on to an airship together, and they realize as they are saved that life is so, so fleeting. They say they are strong, independent, and like the wildest of flowers, they are. But like the struggling bud, they require attention, too. Neither one of them are perfect, their respective roots covered in dirt, but they still bloom, and they bloom brightest when they are together. Flowers are a brilliant thing to associate with Tokka, and I think that’s neat.
