More Kai cause I gotta do it…
Lmao don’t ask me why I made him so cunt I dunno.
I shall be making more, I’d like to apologize to Carlos and Ben for being snubbed. I just can’t stop writing about this man. I don’t wanna go angsty but there is a small bit to do with Jack and Kai’s grandpa being a massive asshole. Here’s a list of “episodes” technically chapters that I’ve been writing. There are 22 episodes lmao.
“Back in Town” : Jack and Milton return to Seaford after “studying at Swarthmore” (Spy Internship) for the summer. Upon returning they find out that not only has Jack's cousin Kai returned, but a new crew made up of their past antagonists joined the Black Dragons under the name of “The White Inferno” with the intention to take down The Wasabi Warriors in the final competition season of their senior year.
“ Black Swan”: Eddy learns Arthers secret. He does ballet at the Dance studio where Eddy works. Eddy has to decide if he’ll keep taking Arthers hush money and keep his secret or help him realize he doesn't need to feel shame. Kim and Carson meet up for the first time since he was banished from the dojo and it's almost like old happy times.
“Hachiji dachi Halloween” “Halloween Episode”: The Wasabi Warriors and the White Inferno compete to see who can collect the most candy by midnight (tie). Ty competes with Phil to be Rudy's costume partner.
“ Dragons Den” “Competition Episode” First Competition of the season; taking place in the Black Dragon Dojo.
“Origins of the Inferno” “Flashback Episode” : The story of how The White Inferno banded together and a closer look on Kai and Jacks relationship before Jack lost for the first time in his life. Then Kais life after he almost killed his cousin.
“ Respect or Boogie”: Brody and Jerry butt heads over whether it's better to be strict with yourself or enjoy life when they are paired together for a science project. Jack lets Milton do his hair for a cosmetology project after stressing about it for a week.
“Some Kickin Spices”: Milton and Eddy compete with Arther and Frank in the Falafel Phil “ WHO CAN MAKE THE SPICIEST FALAFEL IN THE WORLD” competition. Ty and Rudy drag Jack and Kai into their personal fight about which pair could do the best portrayal of Bobby Wasabi and his student Harry Horseradish. Jerry and Brody bump into each other after following Kim and Carson to see what they've been sneaking on to do.
“ Don We Now Our Gi Apparel” “Christmas Episode”: The two Dojos compete again after the tie from Halloween to see who can bring a rowdy bunch of kids the most holiday joy with a free holiday dojo experience. The Dragons try to use kindness but ultimately become violent because the kids are awful. The Wasabi's use kindness which divulges into stifled hatred because the kids are awful. Ty, Rudy, and Phil get into a competition over who can get the mall manager the best gift so that he’ll lower the cost of rent to the winner.
“Grandmaster Arther ”: Arther pays off Ty so that he can become leader of the Dojo for the week over Kai, things get crazy under his leadership. Ty goes out on a sensei retreat and has to deal with an old bully from his and Rudys past.
“Wasabi Which Way ” “Competition Episode”: Second competition of the season. Taking place in the Bobby Wasabi Dojo.
“ Himbo VS Genius”: Milton and Jack begin having petty arguments again which distracts Jack from issues around the mall caused by the dragons. Kai and his group begin terrorizing the strip and Kim is too distracted by Carson whenever she tries to stop them on her own.
“ Next in Line”: Brody gets pissed off because Carson is the second rank of the dojo and tries really hard to rope him into a match so he can prove himself to Kai. Milton and Jerry have an intervention for Kim to keep her away from Carson's evil charms.
“Dragons can't Dance”: Jerry and Eddy team up for a dance competition that Eddy's job is holding and Arther drags Frank with him to compete against them. Kai and Jack ignore Milton and Brody who are trying to convince them both that Kim and Carson are being suspicious.
“ Life of a Teenage Sensei” “Flashback Episode”: The past of Rudy and Ty showing their training under the grandmaster and the situation that led them to stop being friends.
“ Metal Wokstar”: Izzy Gunner the rock star behind Kung fu Lighting has opened up a restaurant and hires Jack and Jerry to work there because of their big fans. Unfortunately Kai and Brody are also huge fans and get hired too which causes conflict when each person is allowed to be manager for a day to see who's the best for the job indefinitely. Eddy tries to help Arther train to be more respected among his peers.
“ Ty, Tied, and Tired” “Competition Episode” The senseis have a special competition just for them and Rudy trains relentlessly to beat Ty who's been bragging about all the “extensive training” he's done to prepare. Jack and Kai get stuck together when the store they occupied gets robbed by rival school kids.
“Brewer-Skewer Cookout”: Kai and Jack both consider their lives after attending their family reunion in a different city. They need to decide if they'll keep fighting and whether or not it's worth it after they graduate.
“ Sensei Swap”: Rudy and Ty hit their heads in a fight over a pair of roller skates and end up in an alternate universe. Here Kai and his crew are the good guys who follow the White Dragon Code under the good sensei Ty and Jack and his crew are ruthless tormentors of the Bayview mall under Bobby Togarashi Dojo as “ The Spicy Gang” (they're still working on the name) led by the tough no nonsense Rudy. Both Ty and Rudy try to influence this universe to better fit what they're used to. Both work together to get back home until Kai realizes that in this universe the Grandmaster is proud of Ty and shames Rudy.
“ Eddys Day”: Eddie's 18th birthday is coming up and the Wasabi's want to make it special. Arthur wants to take it over by spending a butt load of money on his own party.
“ Missin’ it with You” “Flashback Episode”: A flashback to Carsons past with the Wasabis before Jack.
“ Final Showdown” “Competition Episode” The final competition of the season taking place in Japan at the Otay Academy.
“ Kickin it Back”: The week before graduation when the two gangs do one last competition to see who can get the most new members to join before they all leave to pursue their futures

Ok so! Quick(ish) TrainChasersAU post for people who have recently followed me or don't follow me and see posts about this AU in the IT tag!
Blanket disclaimers:
there is quite a bit of character "death", but most of it's already happened prior to when the fic takes place
there is /temporary/ major character death
this fic deals with themes of guilt, grief, and loss. I will tag individual chapters as needed
I'm currently posting the full fic lore + where to read in this doc (a lot of it is stuff I've already stated in this post, but also includes more details about the main cast, side characters, and other important things), which i will eventually add to my neocities:
Train Chasers is a long term project of mine that puts more of a horror/mystery twist on the already mysterious world of Infinity Train. The fic takes place in the early 2000s. Amelia is the only character who gets picked up by the train at the same time she does in canon.
Two years before the plot of Train Chasers, Ryan Akagi and Min-Gi Park were two high school seniors who volunteered to chaperone middle school students on a field trip as part of a graduation requirement. They were placed in charge of four students: Mikayla King, Tulip and Lake Olsen, and Jesse Cosay. The group traveled to a forest on a nature hike. At some point, Ryan and Min Gi became momentarily distracted. A mysterious train appeared in the middle of the forest, and opened up in front of the kids. By the time Ryan and Min-Gi realized what had happened, they could only see what was left of Tulip getting sucked into the train before the doors suddenly shut and drove away. The two tried their best to chase after the train, but it seemingly disappeared without a trace, and there were no train tracks for them to follow. After a very lengthy and exhausting interrogation, the police ruled the disappearance a freak accident and cleared the two without charges. In the eyes of the town... they weren't so easily forgiven. The harassment got so bad that both ended up dropping out of school and Ryan eventually left town a year later.
When Train Chasers (the fic) actually starts, Grace comes into possession of a notebook talking about a weird "numbers train" that mentioned the same kids that went missing two years prior. With nothing better to do, Grace enlists Simon and a few old friends of hers to look into the case again and try to find that train again. She even runs into a few people who know more about the train than they let on.
Essentially: 50% of Train Chasers is getting on the train and finding the kids, the other 50% is getting off the train with the kids (and being able to finally clear Ryan and Min-Gi's names).
While not every single character will get deep focus outside of our main four + Amelia, you'll see a lot of non-protagonist characters pop up here and there, especially the denizens that accompany the main cast in canon (Especially Kez :D).
#long post#infinity train#TCAU lore#ofc im always avalible to answer questions/clarify or correct things if needed#addae.txt

Return from Hiatus
Hello!
It’s been a little over a year since I was last active on here. As my last semester is ramping up, I figured I’d dust this blog off.
For my final semester as an undergrad, I’ll be taking two practical-heavy GIS courses along with my semester long research. My capstone will be on wetland ecology: looking at the status of plant habitats, their health, and how restoration efforts (trail maintenance to reduce habitat fragmentation, volunteer stewardship, funding for maintenance of restoration projects) have shaped the natural preserve I’ll be studying. We’re at the halfway point of the growing season right now, so data collection is the focus. I’d love to make a post sometime about my methodology, as it can very easily be replicated by anyone inclined towards citizen science!
But needless to say, the pressure is on. It’s frustrating that I can’t be focusing all my time and energy solely on finishing strong because I have to pay the bills somehow. I know I’m not alone, though. We working-class students always find a way.
All to say, I’m excited to be back in whatever capacity I can manage! If any fellow studyblrs out there want to share some tips on how to manage work and school at the same time, I’m all ears.

PRINCIPLES OF THE ICFAI ONLINE MBA PROGRAM
Personalized Learning
The focus of personalised learning is the student. Each student is encouraged to pursue a unique academic path that suits his or her requirements and strengths. You use your preferred platform — such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, and more — to learn at your own speed while still adhering to the curriculum plan and requirements. Is it really that personal?
Employability
For the vast majority — and even more — being qualified means getting the best job that is open. Although the ICFAI Online MBA does not provide placement services, we do assist our students in developing the skill set and personal qualities that will enable them to succeed both in the workplace and in the future.
Career Upgrade
It is typical for individuals to feel elated after performing well in their current position. This is a typical aspect of career development. You will be more prepared for the next step, whether it is a changeover or a progression, if you can close the skill gap. The ICFAI Online MBA fits in here. The benefit of this situation is that you can work while you learn.
Venture Assistance
What do businesspeople look for? Develop business-scale strategy and procedures. ICFAI Online MBA is prepared to handle these business conundrums. Our pedagogy offers goals and important outcomes to support your entrepreneurial aspirations, including case studies, engagement with business leaders, learning from like-minded colleagues, and research projects.
Advantages
For distance learning, there is no placement aid facility. However, an MBA from ICFAI University is well-known and well-accepted in the industry.
Compared to many other MBA alternatives in India, it has a much higher reputation. Given that its primary MBA programme is likewise relatively well-known, the brand name is not particularly obscure in the marketplace.
It can be a good alternative to pursue if students are only interested in adding a credential or certificate to their resume or profile, but you shouldn’t anticipate receiving job offers or placement assistance simply because you completed the distance MBA programme at ICFAI.

hi! celestial symbolism obsessed girl over here. I wanted to request some head canons for Saebyeok and a female reader who are both in college. something along the lines of them maybe being awkward or not getting along at first, but then they have an epic ass slow burn love story from them going from strangers to friends to lovers. would love if any college themed activities are used, like parties, classes, nature trips, festivals, heading downtown -- I'm in college, so living vicariously lmao.
BINARY STARS THAT BIND YOU [ k. saebyeok ]
content warnings — bad words sometimes !
note — hi celestial symbolism obsessed anon girl! thank you so much for being my first ever request. here are your headcannons that i tailored especially to you <3 i appreciate you very much and hope you like these, at least a little bit lol. (p.s, i’ve never taken Astronomy, so don’t hate me for any inaccuracies!)
synopsis — you and Kang Saebyeok were just coincidental project partners in Professor Gi-Hun’s Astronomy course… you never envisioned yourselves falling in love.
— Your college life coming into collision with Kang Saebyeok’s had been arranged completely by coincidence of the cosmos.
— It’s still bewilders you to this day that you hadn’t noticed her brooding existence until second semester final projects where whirling around in your shared Astronomy class— Both of you had been attending the same midnight science studying seminar, listening to your nutty professor, Dr. Gi-Hun rant aimlessly for the entire year.
— Astronomy was your most favored course, just as Prof Gi-Hun was teacher dearest, though his antics often blurred the lines of overly-enthusiastic educator and caffeinated crazy man.
— One of his favorite activities was forcing his poor students to awkwardly and anonymously choose their project partners by a randomized number system.
— Prof Gi-Hun calls it the ‘Binary Buddy System’, as in relating to the Binary Stars System that spins in space — When two stars temporarily align, orbiting a common center of mass… The two stars being you and your project partner, the common center aligning your otherwise opposing lives being … Acquiring a decent grade in his Astronomy class.
— AKA his wacky way of pushing all his anxiety riddled, cellular screen obsessed subjects to obtain some social etiquette outside of digital media.
— The best part : your project partner was strictly non-negotiable. No matter the circumstances. No matter if you got partnered with a meteorite asshole. No matter if your final grade depended on the buddy system that binds you.
— So when your professor’s sky blue baseball cap filled with anonymous numbers doodled onto half sheets of loose leaf landed on your desk, you shut your eyes, wishing as you wiggled your palm through the pieces of paper, praying while pulling from the hat that a sufficient student was assigned to the random number,
“Number 067?” You read aloud to the class. Two polar replies submerged the taut silence of the room.
Prof Gi-Hun’s thin lips surfed out to his cheekbones, a knowing cackle spilling from his throat— Meanwhile a gravelly low groan could be detected from the rear of room.
“(Full name), Kang Sae-Byeok is your Binary Buddy. You two will be working together for the rest of the semester on the final project.” Dr.Gi-Hun announced, voice lathered in mirth.
— That’s when you saw her. Floating in the void of unfamiliar faces was the rather annoyed young woman snatching on the drawstrings of her sage green hoodie that hid her features as she sunk into the chair, slender figure sliding into her despair.
— You were utterly puzzled as to what the hell your professor thought was so amusing, and what Kang Saebyeok found to be so dreadful about being your project partner. I mean, you didn’t even know this chick!
— This effect of course, was very intentional, because Kang Saebyeok didn’t want to know you.
— From the moment she first saw you, Saebyeok knew she wanted nothing to do with you.
— You were like Neptune embodied— enchantment effusing from your presence, azure with compassion, an illusion of fantasy flooding at your feet.
— And when you began to approach her for the first time, weird feelings enfolded her, faster than anticipated and she didn’t appreciate them in the slightest.
— Hopelessly, she refuted the unrhythmic pattern of pangs heaving her chest and the solar storm surging in her stomach, navigating divergent of your glimpse, as stoic as ever.
— Her life was chaotic enough. She didn’t need the heart problems that came with being in your proximity as well.
“Umm, hi Kang Saebyeok.” You were stiff, clutching your textbook to your torso, somewhat nagged and nervous as you stood in front the stranger who already disliked you for some reason.
— A beautiful stranger, might you add— the type of beauty that could make the whole earth gyrate on it’s axis, just as it did when she peeked up at you. Your brain dizzied, sputtering and stammering.
“I-I like your name… Pretty.”
“Okay.” Her curtness almost cut you, a dry and blunt demeanor eclipsing the faint pigment rushing to hug her freckles.
You blinked, a bruised ego becoming of you. “Uh, I’m—“
“I know your name.”
“Okay… Can I sit here?” Gesturing to the seat beside her, you put on a polite smile.
Saebyeok scoffs lightly, shrugging. “It’s an empty seat, isn’t it?”
— She never meant for it to come off so cold, but you were already sending her an icy glare— From that point forward, you didn’t like Kang Saebyeok for the exact same reason she didn’t like you…
— Absolutely no real reason at all.
—You were sure this was gonna be a long semester.
— And you were right. The semester was long— It burned slowly, though not into an abyssal oblivion… More like exploded into a supernovae.
— You and Saebyeok exchanged numbers and decided on meeting up outside of class on Fridays… the day ruled by Venus.
— You insisted that you both should meet up on the rooftop of your university’s student library, amidst the dark hours of the night. It was your spot, the best place for studying stars — quiet, lowkey, and a panorama of the ethers that was to die for.
—Following that day, you began to see Saebyeok everywhere, as if the universe was propelling you into her path.
— You usually attentively watched noticed her wandering by the Art buildings (presuming that was her major), either carrying a skateboard or some boba tea drink in hand… From what you gathered, this girl was pretty strange.
— Her attire consisted of that same sage green hoodie you met her in, a beige tote bag, khaki cargo shorts or oversized grey sweats, and crocs, or her infamous ‘fuck you’ flip flops— Sometimes she sported this insanely adorable frog bucket hat, or her short mane was tied back in a bun as her bangs blew in the breeze.
— Saebyeok even texted strangely…
You : “meet me @ our spot?”
Saebyeok : *thumbs up emoji*
You : “why can’t you just text back with words? you know, like a normal person?”
Saebyeok : *middle finger emoji*
— Within a month of working together, you noted that Saebyeok wasn’t such an awful project partner. It’s true, her eyes often scorched you like the Red Planet, but that wasn’t necessarily the worse thing when her gaze was driven, ablaze with ambition.
— She was consistent— Every friday, same sage green hoodie, some new boba drink, and a skateboard. Never late, never slacking, never not oozing of snarky intellectual insight.
— Saebyeok wasn’t too shabby of a teacher either. In fact, you learned that if you ogled her boba tea long, hard, and hungrily enough, she’d groan and mumble a swift “Here.” before letting you have what was left of the drink.
— The next Friday, hours prior to your study sess, she texted you a plain boba tea emoji with a question mark— It took you a few minutes to realize she was offering to buy you a drink.
— You said yes to boba once, and she’s never forgotten to bring you one along with her own ever since, nor does she ever accept any form of payment in return.
— Still, you disliked her gorgeous guts.
— Disliked the sweltering silk sound of her voice, sultry enough to send you to space. Disliked how the wind whistled her name when she was nowhere to be found… Disliked that you didn’t dislike her at all, and your desire to know her only yearned further.
— But you weren’t indifferent. Saebyeok was frothing in loathe for you.
— You were the definition of inconsistent— She could never tell if you would be early, on time, or late, but whenever you showed up, she couldn’t help but gawk at notice the fact that it was usually fashionably and overly so.
— Your mood was a trip around the sun. Sometimes, you were this bubbly bliss of passion, eager and ready to press your pen to paper. Other times, you were just a ditzy stargazer. Head empty, only thoughts being zodiac sign horoscopes.
— Not to mention the obsidian vortex’s obvious revere for you… Oh, how it’s silvers embraced you in the night, laving you in starlight of the celestial sunset.
— Even outside of Fridays, she couldn’t escape you, oddly finding herself scrolling through threads of your talkative text messages throughout the week and… smiling at them?
—Just insufferable you were… cause you weren’t insufferable at all.
— In a few months time, Saebyeok would surrender herself to your spirit of inquiry occasionally…
“Saebyeok?”
“Hm?”
“What made you interested in taking Astronomy?”
“… I like to be reminded that no matter what we do in this life, there’s always something bigger than us.”
“Wow… Me too.”
“Really?”
“No. I just think the moon’s pretty. But I like your answer better.”
— Sometimes, she’d even spare a chuckle for your corny jokes. You were kinda hilarious… but not because your jokes were funny, only because they were terrible, and you laughed hysterically at them, even if she didn’t.
— Though she never let the conversation spiral too far. As soon as subjects splayed to a stray, she circles back to the constellations worth analyzing…
“So you’re telling me you’re not a lesbian, Sae?”
“I’m not telling you anything— Why can’t you ever ask normal questions? Like what’s my favorite color or something?”
You gave a vacant glance, eyes fluttering between her gaze and the sage green hoodie that she literally has never taken off since she discovered the pastel shade.
“I wonder what it could be…”
— You knew nothing of her personal life.
— Until one night. The only night that Kang Saebyeok was late to your study session on the student library’s rooftop— Which inconveniently happened to be one of your last, and most important cram sessions, as the due date for your project was on the brink.
— You were furious. This night had been discussed and planned profusely, as it was the perfect time to acquire the most accurate observations on the skyline for research— You even rented a telescope just so you can examine the stars together.
— Yet when she finally arrived, your frustration ceased at the sight of the mini-human accompanying her— A little boy hugging at the height of her hip with a matching set of stardust speckles sprinkling across his features.
“Who’s this?” You asked, staring at the coy kid.
“My little brother. Im sorry, I-I had nowhere else to bring him.” She appeared more scattered than ever, dark shadows neath her glassy eyes and lids hooded with lingering dwell. “I didn’t want you to think I bailed—“
“No, Saebyeok, It’s fine. Really.” You assured her with an allaying smile, sauntering over to the timid boy and stooping before him.
You were cautious of his boundaries, keeping a safe distance. “Hey kid, what’s your name?”
He looked up to his sister for a subtle approval, who reluctantly nodded after a few seconds. “Cheol… Kang Cheol.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m (Name). You have a powerful name, little man… Ever used a telescope before?”
— That night, there was a shift in the binary star systems. As Kang Saebyeok witnessed the gushing grin of her kid brother bloom whilst you so gently hoisted him up to peep through the telescope lens— Gasps and giggles whisking past her ears as you two carelessly called at the stars,
—She realized that the common center that brought you two together was drifting, that you were nearing the end of your forced partnership.
— And she could no longer deny what felt indisputable, as late Friday nights on the rooftop of the student library were no longer mandatory, yet she still looked forward to buying you boba tea and hanging onto every one of your unfunny jokes as you begged her to tell you the story of her first crush, or first kiss, or first significant other (all experiences you would bet your last dime entailed some gayness) .
— There was much more than a binary star system that binded you and Saebyeok now… Or a binary buddy system… Whatever Prof Gi-Hun calls it.
— ( You guys got an A+ on the final project, by the way.)

sophomore in an american high school. hi, im very enthusiastic about anthropology as a whole and would love to know more about the specifics of archaeology. i know that there are many different types of archeaology and that britain(?) considers it to be separate from the rest of anthropology because its just that big of a field.
1. If you ARE able to answer this question, what are the best schools to get into if one wanted to pursue archaeology? if you don't have an answer, thats fine too
2. how does fieldwork... work? the technical bits. what roles are there, who does who, what does a schedule look like, how long can a dig last, and (because surely there are different types of fieldwork) what is fieldwork meant to accomplish beyond restoring and preserving ancient history?
3. career opportunities for archaeologists outside of fieldwork?
4. what other areas of study do archeaologists work closely with? i know paleontology is a big one
5. what are some things archaeologists do that non-archaeologists find eccentric. theyre literally Not Normal and Fucking Weird from what ive heard
6. what does the process of curating a collection and preserving artifacts actually look like? what happens and how does it happen?
i know this is long, but u saw your post about wanting to be bothered by this kind of thing and i just went for it, dick out 😅 hope you dont mind
Hi there, thanks for asking! Some of these questions have already been answered, and if that's the case I'll provide a link.
What school should I go to?
This really depends on what kind of archaeology you're interested in. Schools in a region will usually have people who specialize in the archaeology of that region (great lakes, great basin, mississippian, plains, etc). Large schools seem to be more likely to have well staffed archaeology and anthropology departments. If you're interested in something like classical archaeology or middle eastern archaeology you should look at the faculty at a university to see if they have multiple people who specialize in that area, and if they have a program dedicated to that subject.
How does fieldwork work?
There will be a Primary Investigator (often called the PI) of the project. This is someone with at least a Master's level education. They will be in charge of the research design of the project, and they are responsible for most of the paperwork.
There might be graduate students who have completed their bachelor's and are now working towards a Master's and/or a PhD. They could be there in some sort of educational capacity, to help teach undergraduate students, they might be conducting research of their own, or they might be working for the PI.
Then there are shovel bums-- people who dig where the PI tells them to. On a field school these are generally students who are working towards their bachelor's. On other digs these are people who have finished their bachelor's but are not in grad school.
Finally, there might be other specialists. These are people who have highly specialized knowledge and are consulting on one specific kind of archaeology or other science. I'll talk about them more in Part 4.
What kind of career opportunities are there?
Check out my advice master post that has all sorts of helpful links to previous answers!
What other areas of study to archaeologists work with?
So in my experience archaeologists don't actually work with paleontologists all that often. Paleontologists work with things that are hundreds of millions years old. Archaeologists work with things that are tens of thousands of years old (even the paleo archaeologists are only going back a couple million years). Our excavation techniques are very, very different.
However, archaeologists do work with all sorts of other specialists/disciplines/groups, including but not limited to:
Paleo-botanists
Geologists
Soil scientists
Historians
Local organizations
Law enforcement
Construction companies
Descendant communities
Bio-anthropologists
GIS technicians
Surveyors
National Parks
What are some weird things that archaeologists do?
This is a little difficult to put your finger on. If you browse through this blog you might get a read on the vibe that I give off-- most of us are like this. You have to be a special kind of crazy to want to be an archaeologist, so we're more or less the same flavor, sort of like people who play a sport are all weird in the same way.
The bone licking thing is something that's brought up a lot, but not all archaeologists do it or do it super often (You can tell if something is a rock or bone by licking it: bone sticks to your tongue and rock does not).
What does the process of curation and preservation look like?
This is generally what we call lab work. I have a lab work tag that you can look through to see more of this. It's a lot of cleaning and cataloging. I'll pass the curation aspect off to @museum-spaces and @museumably because curation isn't generally something that archaeologists do a lot of.
Anything else?
When you get to whatever school you're going to go to, see if they have an Introduction to Archaeology and an Introduction to Anthropology course, and take them if they're offered. Those are the best way to get your toes wet.
Also, check out Time Team, which does a good job of showing the realities of archaeology. They're UK based, and so some things will be different, but it's the most realistic portrayal of archaeology in the media that I've come by. Writing goals for 2022... is it really already 2022?
@erinnharper tagged me in her writing goals, reminding me that I've been working on this post and really should try to get it out during these first few days of January while it's still relevant haha
A quick summary of my goals for this coming year:
write a short play for my university's theatre festival
continue with the next drafts of The Corvine and the first draft of Cypress Ascending
start the first draft of The Corvine book two
edit and ~do things~ with some already written pieces
write some short stories, poetry, etc for fun!
most importantly, be kind to myself
Before I go into more detail on those, let's start by responding to my goals from last January and see how I did in 2021.
Review of 2021:
-SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED!- 2021 writing goal one: do a final round of editing on my play for the 2021 theatre festival before directing it in February
This virtual play went really well! It's even available on YouTube now and forever :)
-ABANDONED - goal two: write & host a virtual murder mystery
Unfortunately, due to the so many other things happening in my life (and everyone else's), I realized pretty quickly this one just wasn't gonna happen. If the stars align again someday, maybe I'll give it another shot, I miss the murder mystery parties I did before.
I had mixed success on my other various goals (write more short stories & flash fiction, use haikus as writing warmup, effectively use my free time to actually write, update and interact here more often). Life loves to throw all it's got at us, huh? Sure makes finding the time to write difficult.
- PLANS CHANGED - Now. The Big Goal from 2021 was to get The Corvine ready and out for beta reading - I kind of succeeded? I changed my plan and decided that instead of doing public beta reading after draft two, I wanted to do a private round of alpha reading with some close friends & fellow writers. So they're finishing up with that as I'm starting to get ready for draft three!
This brings us to this year's goals!
Goal one: write a short play for my university's theatre festival
I have the idea already (playing around with the ideas of deus ex machine/god from the machine and fate). It'll be good fun, just gotta get it written and edited before February.
Goal two: edit and ~do things~ with some already written pieces
I want to edit through the jukebox musical I wrote for funsies and because I really like it, I am considering actually sending it to Cosmo Sheldrake himself and seeing what he thinks of what I did with his songs. Who knows what will come from that lmao.
I'm also looking at editing some of my favourite short stories and maybe submitting to lit mags for publication, so that's something that might happen this year.
The Big Goal(s): continue with the next drafts of The Corvine and the first draft of Cypress Ascending & start the first draft of The Corvine book two
As I mentioned above, I have some alpha readers looking at The Corvine - they all told me they'd be done and fill out the questionnaire I sent them by mid-January. Soon, I'll be working on the third draft (I already have some ideas on how to fix the most pressing issues). Hopefully, after the third draft, I will actually be offering it up to a broader public for beta reading!
In an ideal world, I would also finish the first draft of Cypress Ascending this year, but the BEd program owns my ass, so who knows what will happen.
I'd also like to finish up the outlining and start drafting on the second book of The Corvine (current working title is The Vulpsin, idk if I've mentioned that here)
Otherwise, I also have informal goals to write some more short stories, poetry, etc and post more here for fun!
But, most importantly, my ultimate goal for 2022 is to be kind to myself.
Life is hard. I'm a student in teachers' college. I've got acting projects and other extra-curricular things. I've got a job. I want to read and do other art things. I've got a girlfriend and roommates to make time for. However much writing I can fit in is a good amount of writing.
I need to remember all that I'm facing and realize that. Writing is my passion. But so are so many other things as well. Any writing is a good amount of writing. It's okay, whatever I get done or don't.
---
I'll tag some people who I'm curious to hear what they have planned! If you've already made a post, feel free to tag me in a reblog. Also, of course, no pressure at all to do it, I'm just curious! @radley-writes @ratracechronicler @drowsy-quill @cwritesfiction and @yvesdot

Codywan Week Day 2~
The prompt I chose was AU.
I've been meaning to write an Aikido AU at some point in my writing career, and it's finally time!
Aikido (合気道) is a traditional Japanese martial primarily focused on protecting yourself as well as your opponent. It is defensive, non-competitive, and focuses a lot more on spirituality, depending on your dojo (school).
Something about the way both Aikido and Soresu are both defensive really sits right with me lol
I've done aikido for 13 years and recently received my 3rd degree black belt certification (sandan 参段), so this AU really means a lot to me and truly hope you enjoy it! If you have any questions, feel free to DM me or whatever~
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32849761
@codywanweek
Summary: Obi-wan loved practicing aikido. Something about the way that he is able to subdue opponents much larger while also being able to protect that person from harm was very attractive to him. While training with visitors from New Zealand, he meets one of the most interesting and attractive people he has ever met.
Obi-wan took a deep breath in, extending his energy from his fingers reaching up down his arms, to his center, then exhaled and brought his hands down his body to his toes. He repeated this motion three times along with the rest of the class.
“Alright, class, line up!” The lead instructor, Mace Windu, called out.
The younger and less experienced students lined up in the back, while the higher ranked students, like 4th black belt Obi-wan, lined up at the front. Everyone settled into a kneeling position, and looked forward to the picture of O-Sensei, founder of their martial art, then bowed to Mace.
“I have a small announcement before we close class. Next class, we will be having a few aikido practitioners from New Zealand to practice with us. They are from a dojo that practices a different style, and may do certain techniques differently than we do, so please pay attention to what they do, and be careful when you train with them. Sometimes they have… a more aggressive approach. But, just remember that your style of aikido is different from theirs as well. This will help you both learn communication and cooperation. Any questions?”
No one raised their hand, so Mace dismissed class. Obi-wan led the closing bows and then allowed the children to exit the mat while those wearing hakama began to take them off, while others began to clean up the dojo around them. One of the younger students, Zatt, ran over to him and began asking him the usual round of questions.
“Who are the new students, do you think Obi-wan?”
“I have no idea, Zatt. We will find out on Friday, hm?”
“But that’s two days away! How long do you think they will be here?”
“Well, most people stay to practice for at least a few classes, so I would say we will see them at least a few more times.”
“Wizard! What do you think they’ll be like?”
“I haven’t the faintest, my dear. Hopefully there will be someone your age to practice with.”
Obi-wan smiled as Zatt jumped up and down in excitement, then ran off to get changed and go home.
“Obi-wan.” Mace called from his office near the back of the dojo. Obi-wan finished folding his hakama, then entered Mace’s office and closed the sliding door.
“Yes, Sensei?”
“The sensei of the group that is coming is a very close friend of my master, but I’ll be a bit busy while they are here, so if you are able to, I’d like for you to take them around the city the day after practice.”
“Of course, Mace. It’s the weekend, so I won’t have anything scheduled.”
“I appreciate it, Obi-wan. I’ll see you in a couple days.”
“Have a good night, Mace.”
~
The next lesson, Obi-wan arrived 20 minutes early to the dojo, hoping to get to know the visiting practitioners before actually practicing with them.
After he bowed at the entrance of the dojo, he straightened up and spotted two of the visitors. They were already dressed in their gi and hakama, warming up a little bit near the edge of the practice mat. They were both fairly tall, had short black hair, and sharp features. As soon as he entered the dojo, they paused and stood up straight.
“Hello there! You must be part of the visiting dojo!”
“Yeah, that’s right!” They seemed a little nervous?
“Pleasure to meet you! I’m Obi-wan Kenobi, part-time instructor here at the dojo.” He introduced himself and gave a short bow.
“I’m Wyatt Fett, and this is my twin, Baron. Our dad and older brothers are talking with Windu-Sensei right now. We’re, ah, just warming up before class. They take care of the “ambassadoring”, we’re just here to practice aikido.” Wyatt grinned and they both gave short bows to him.
“Understandable. I’ll speak with Mace in a bit. It was nice to meet you two. I’ll be right back.” Obi-wan bowed, and then walked over towards the changing rooms, listening to the two of them bicker. Something about being a type?
He placed his duffel bag on one of the higher shelves to leave room for the children. Just as he turned his phone to silent, the men’s bathroom door banged open, making him jump and almost drop his phone. He whipped around to see who made such a racket, but he only caught the sight of his back and a green belt around his waist.
“Hm… must be one of the visiting students. The teacher’s son?” He thought, before checking his phone one last time.
He finished up and exited the changing rooms to join Mace with the visiting teacher, a stern, older looking man, and two younger men. The older man was slightly taller than Obi-wan, still in street clothes. His face was stern, but he had smile lines around his eyes that softened his face, and dark hair with a few white hairs barely visible.
The younger looking of the boys… men? Had blonde hair, a little bit of baby fat stubbornly clinging to his cheeks, and was already dressed in his gi and hakama.
However, Obi-wan’s eyes were drawn to the older looking one. His hair was longer on top than the sides, pulled back in a small ponytail. His face was sharp, but somehow kind, and he had a wicked scar that curled around his left eye, and bright gold eyes that he shared with the other two men. But this man’s eyes seemed to bore right into his soul, making him a bit flustered.
“Ah, Obi-wan. Good to see you. I’d like you to meet Jango Fett, head instructor of the Aikido of New Zealand, Auckland branch, along with his assistant instructors, and his eldest sons.”
“I’m Cody, and this is my younger brother, Rex.” The slightly taller one, Cody, gave a short bow and a sheepish smile.
“We’ll be in your care during our trip. I hear you’ll be showing us around tomorrow?” Jango asked.
“Yes, that’s right. After class, could we all exchange numbers and arrange a time and place to meet?”
“That sounds wonderful.” Jango glanced at the clock and his eyes widened. “We should get ready for class.”
“Of course. Right this way.” Mace escorted Jango towards the changing rooms, leaving Obi-wan with Rex and Cody.
“So, have you gentlemen gotten used to the time difference yet?” Nice, Kenobi, thrilling conversation.
“We’ve only been here about a day so far? We don’t actually travel outside of New Zealand often, still getting used to waking up in the past.” Cody joked, making all three of them laugh.
“I can imagine. Well, I hope you will gain a bit of energy in the ten minutes we have before class starts.” Obi-wan smiled, and exited the office, onto a much more crowded mat than it was five minutes ago.
“Obi-wan! Obi-wan! I made a new friend!” Zatt shouted gleefully, dragging the young boy that he saw in the changing room behind him. “This is Boba! He’s from New Zealand!”
Obi-wan looked down at Boba who looked away from him and pouted.
“Hello, Boba. Welcome to our dojo. I hope you have fun with Zatt and the other students today.”
“Thanks.” Boba mumbled and then promptly pulled away to be introduced to others at their dojo.
Cody came up next to him with his hands on his hips. “I’m glad Boba is making friends.”
“Yes, the children have been very excited to meet you all.” Obi-wan chuckled.
“And you?”
Obi-wan raised an eyebrow, and turned to look at Cody, who simply smiled and waited for a reply.
“We’ll, I’m certainly looking forward to it.”
Mace opened their class with an introduction of their visitors and then moved onto warm up exercises. Obi-wan tried his best to pay attention, but he has done these exercises a thousand times and he was easily distracted today.
Like most men, Cody didn’t wear a shirt under his gi, so every so often, Obi-wan caught a glimpse of what was underneath.
On accident! Obviously.
Warmups ended and they all paired up for the rest of the class.
“If one person from our dojo and one person from New Zealand can practice together, please do that. If not, try to partner with someone close to your height.” Mace called out to the class.
Obi-wan glanced around and immediately spotted Cody glancing at. He smiled and walked over to him.
“Care to practice together? I’ll have to help out with demonstrating with Mace, but I’d love to practice with you.” Obi-wan smiled, and bowed his head, which Cody eagerly returned.
Practicing with Cody was exhilarating. They matched speeds perfectly, every attack and deflection was completely in sync. The rest of the dojo fell away and focused solely on the two of them and their space. The feeling of Cody’s hands and body on his wrists, his neck, holding him down, during pinning techniques was the best feeling he’s felt in a long time. Every time he executed a technique against Cody, he literally flew through the air and hit the mat with a thud that echoed through his entire body. And whenever it was Cody's turn, Obi-wan’s skin burned wherever he made contact; he felt like he could see an outline of his hands on himself, but maybe he was just tired. He never wanted this class to end.
Of course, right as he was thinking that, Mace clapped his hands twice and called out, “Line up!”
Cody and Obi-wan reluctantly bowed to each other, then separated. Obi-wan went to the front of the mat, and Cody went to line up with the rest of his dojo.
“I want to thank our visitors for practicing with us. They will hopefully be able to attend a couple more classes next week, but in the meantime, everyone please thank them for joining us.”
“ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU!!” All of the children screamed, and the adults of the class followed it with a more calm version.
Class ended and various students began shuffling off the mat to grab a variety of cleaning supplies to tidy up the dojo. Obi-wan grabbed a rag and began to clean the shomen, where O-Sensei’s picture hung. Their guests from New Zealand tried to grab things to help, but were told off by the children that they were guests and “It’s our responsibility!”
Obi-wan snickered and smiled at Cody, who shrugged helplessly and began taking off his hakama alongside his brothers and began to get ready to leave.
Once the dojo was clean, Obi-wan finally took off his own hakama and gathered his belongings.
Cody and Rex were waiting right outside the dojo for him.
“Excited for tomorrow, gentlemen?” Obi-wan asked.
“Yes, very much so.” Cody smiled, pulling out his phone.
The three of them exchanged numbers with Obi-wan promising to meet them in front of the dojo at 9am the next morning.
“Tomorrow will be a great day, I’m sure of it.” Rex butted in and patted Cody on the back.
“Excellent! I will see you all tomorrow, then.” Obi-wan smiled.
A good day, indeed.

Re-reading Yu-Gi-Oh (part 1)
So... I bitch a lot about Yu-Gi-Oh. When I don’t complain about it online and accuse it of scamming kid me, I ridicule the story and the many holes in the game rules.
But I actually used to love this manga with a burning passion. I bought it because I was fixated with the cards, but instead I got traumatized. In an awesome way.
So I decided to re-read the manga about the possibly best known TCG game in the world and see how it started, how it evolved, and if the story still holds up.
So, I’m reading chapter 1, and we have to talk about the art.
The art style at the beginning was chunky and sometimes downright awkward. But it was still very enjoyable. The characters were very expressive and the tone of the style could swing quickly from wacky and rubberhose like to eerie and brooding depending on the situation. It makes you forgive odd-looking legs and hands that becomes massive. It is clear that it is someone’s first project.
So, this is Yugi. Possibly the cutest and meekest punk kid who ever lived. Yugi is not an outdoor person, so he spends most of his recesses inside the classroom. He brings a ton of games to school, hoping that someone might wanna play with him, but all of his classmates prefer to go outside and do stuff like basketball. And being a short teenager who practically looks like a little boy means he is not a desirable team mate in any ball game.
This is totally just a theory, but I think Yugi’s signature punk hairstyle is his way of trying to look a bit more edgy to try do something about his cute appearance.
... Yeah, it’s not working. He still looks like a fricking Gummibear.
As Yugi is minding his own business, we meet two familiar faces.
... their names are actually Jounouchi and and Honda, but most people know them by their American names, so I will just refer to them as Joey and Tristan.
It’s so odd to see their old designs. Especially Joey since his hair is not as big and square like as it is today. And what the fuck is up with Tristan’s face?!
Anyways, while Yugi decides to play with the most valuable game in his collection, Joey and Tristan decides to mess with him. They make an interesting bully duo where Tristan is more loud and is clearly having more fun bothering Yugi who is too short to put up a fight while Joey seems more stoic and is almost annoyed by Yugi for being a pushover. He even tells Yugi to be a man about it and at least try and take the game back from him by force. So while Tristian just enjoys picking on Yugi for the heck of it, Joey seems to sincerely dislike Yugi.
Luckily, Yugi doesn’t have trouble with bullies as such since he is friends with Tea who is so tough that she actually intimidate Joey and Tristan with sheer attitude. That’s actually impressive.
... A shame she is most of the time just the damsel in distress.
Tea is the only person in class who hangs out with Yugi since they have been friends since kindergarten. And she doesn’t mind staying inside at all since a ton of the guys are jerks who only wanna play basketball with the girls since it gives them an opportunity to look up their skirts.
Yeah, there is a lot of that in this manga. Most of the males in this series are kinda horny. the humor often relies on it, which downright creepy at times.
Even Yugi finds basketball more appealing now that he knows about the skirt-looking.
Lewd panty-shot aside, I think it is a nice detail that Yugi is as pathetic as the rest of the dudes in school, he probably just doesn’t have the courage to try get a look. It makes him less of a pure hero.
Altight, let’s stop talking about Yugi being a closet creep:/
Yugi shows Tea what his greatest treasure is: A LITTERAL treasure.
Yep, this is the famous Millennium Puzzle, practically the mascot of the series. It’s an ancient puzzle found in an pyramid that Yugi got from his grandfather who runs a game store. The puzzle is extremely valuable, both because it is from ancient Egypt and it is made of gold.
... And Yugi brings it to school where Tristan and Joey pushes him around...
Yugi has been struggling with the puzzle for eight years despite being a game nerd. Even though it is a blow to his not that big ego, he keeps trying to solve it since the box says that if he will be granted a wish if he manage to solve the puzzle.
Meanwhile, Joey and Tristan makes the fatal mistake of talking about picking on Yugi while Ushio is close enough to hear it. He is the school’s hall monitor and rumor has it that he is downright psychotic and is feared by most of the students. Heck, some of the teachers are uncomfortable being near him.
And this guy has decided to become Yugi’s bodyguard, something poor Yugi doesn’t take serious when Ushio tells him that.
Joey and Tristan are unaware how screwed they are as they keep having their fun bothering Yugi without our hero knowing it. Joey managed to steal a piece from the puzzle box before Tea interrupted, and Joey decides to throw the piece in the school’s swimming pool so that the puzzle becomes worthless as it can no longer be solved. I gotta say, that is pretty twisted and surprisingly sneaky of a teen bully. It’s downright creepy.
Speaking of creepy...
This is Yugi’s grandfather Sugoroku. He runs the game shop that Yugi lives in and is a living encyclopedia when it comes to games of all sorts.
And he can’t just tell Tea that she has grown. He HAS to mention her breasts as well. Da fuck is up with all the sex talk and panty shots in this series?! Does Kazuki Takahashi(the author) have some sort of issues?!
Yugi’s grandfather notices that Yugi is STILL trying to solve the ancient puzzle and warns Yugi that the puzzle is supposedly cursed. That the archeologist and his team died mysteriously shortly after finding the puzzle and the last one to kick the bucket said something about a “shadow game” with his dying breath.
That however makes Yugi even more determent to solve the puzzle. If it really is magical then chances are that he will be granted a wish by completing the puzzle.
Personally, I would call the nearest museum and sell the dang thing before it could kill me with it’s insane cursed magic.
Speaking of insane, Yugi realizes that he should have taken Ushio serious when he said he would be his bodyguard.
Yep, the SOB has dragged Joey and Tristan behind the school building and kicked their asses through and through. Tristan is in so much pain that he is barely conscious and Joey is so pummeled that all he can do is watch as Yugi shows how surprisingly brave he is as he demands that Ushio leaves them alone, even refer to them as his friends and that they were just trying to make him a man.
Yeah, picking on someone because they are too timid and demanding that they fight you despite knowing that they hat violence is the right way to make someone a man. Hip hooray for toxic masculinity!
Yugi defending Joey and Tristan results in him getting a beating as well.
One of the interesting things about early Yu-Gi-Oh is the raw and ugly violence. We talking dirty violence where people get kneed in the chest and kicked while they lie down. Not just off-screen, we witness our heroes be pummeled, making the series a bit more gritty and frightening. And this series is not for those with a weak stomach.
Joey is stunned, partly because Yugi defends him, but way more of the short spiky-haired kid’s courage. But Yugi is anything but afraid. After all, he refused to fight Joey, but he still tried to get the puzzle back(not successfully, but he made an effort instead of just squirming).
After Ushio finished kicking poor Yugi’s ass, he tells him to bring him money as “payment” for his “bodyguard service.” And we talking 200000 yen, that’s a lot of dough.
Ushio even pulls a god damn knife(!), just to show how fucking crazy he is!
Yugi goes home to see if he has money enough to pay Ushio, but he only has 1656 yen. In frustration, Yugi decides to solve his unsolvable puzzle, just to think of something else than the brute with a knife who is waiting for him at school.
But what do you know? Yugi finally get the hang of it. He sees that some of the pieces just needs to be rotated differently and he finish it in a couple of minutes.
... Or he WOULD have. He finally sees that one of the pieces are missing, breaking his heart and making his awful day even worse.
But Grandpa has the last piece. He tells Yugi that one of his friends from school had found it and asked him to give it to Yugi. And that he was soaked despite it not raining.
As Yugi is happy about being able to finish the puzzle and returns to his room, his grandpa thinks about that the boy was Joey and that he asked him not to tell Yugi it was him that came with the puzzle piece. Joey also told him about Ushio blackmailing Yugi, so Grandpa secretly puts money in Yugi’s schoolbag so he won’t get in trouble.
And this is where it get’s freaky.
Yep, here it is. the iconic moment Yugi gets blessed by the puzzle so that he can turn into the split personality we refer to as Yami which is Japanese for “Dark”.
Yugi then calls Ushio and tells him to meet him outside school at midnight.
Ushio is surprised as he sees that Yugi is wearing some sort of costume and that he looks way more cocky than before.
Yugi tells Ushio that he has the money he demands, but he has twice the amount. Fricking 400000 yen!
But Yugi only “owes” 200000 to Ushio, so he suggest that they play about them in a dark and twisted game.
Yugi and Ushio take turns stabbing the stack of money placed on their hand. They have to stab hard enough to take more than one single bill. The winner is the guy with most yen bills.
As they play, Ushio seems to be winning... but when it is his turn, he can feel that his hand is way too eager to stab.
This is not just a weird-ass game. This is a “shadow game”, a game that shows your true nature. Ushio’s greed is now collected in his hand, and he so desperately want to win the game that he can’t control it. He realizes that if he stabs, he won’t be able to control his strength and he will penetrate his own hand. Ushio has to either A) give up and keep his hand or B) win the game with one hand less.
Ushio picks C.
Ushio tries to kill Yugi, but that was a mistake. The puzzle has made him super human and he leaps from the ground, evading the knife.
And cheating in a shadow game is a big no-go as the host of the game has authority to punish you.
Yami Yugi curses Ushio with “Illusion of Greed”, meaning he will be doomed to live in an imaginary world where he sees nothing but money everywhere.
Next morning, he is still outside the schoolyard like a drooling idiot who yells about all of his imaginary money.
Yugi has no memory of what happened but is glad he no longer has to be worried of Ushio who is a harmless nutcase. Not only that, he has finally finished his puzzle... and Joey offers him his friendship.
And that was the start of the horror manga turned card game commercial. It has a lot of charm, is very eerie and I think I prefer Yami Yugi’s first look that is more child like. making him look downright creepy.
This retrospective will continue ASAP.
Till then, I’m Waezi2, and thanks for wasting time with me.

As in Lonesome South
Summary: After returning to Ninjago from that Lighthouse prison, Dr. Julien decides it's time for him and his son to move on.
Warnings: Dr. Julien is not a good dad. Memory alteration and Controlling behavior. ask to tag? Pairing: gen Wordcount:1700 A/N: The name for this fic comes from Hillbilly Man by Gorillaz lol
Packing up his meager room is not a difficult feat, Dr. Julien is glad to note, even in his advanced age. He doesn’t have many belongings now, his life spread out across Ninjago and across the sea, the things left behind and abandoned worthless in his eyes now that he’s been reunited with his son. His greatest creation. It’s not as if he couldn’t stop by that ancient bunker out in Birchwood Forest and gather up his old blueprints, maybe pick up projects left half-finished as his hands wrinkled and gave out, but there’s a clean and simple sort of appeal to a fresh start. Out with the old, in with the new. He had time to start again now. He and Zane could travel down to the outskirts of Metalonia, there’s raw materials there, new construction. Its growing fast with the upcoming tech giant Borg Industries basing it’s manufacturing plants in the heart of the city. It’s an easy place to get lost in, an old man and his son blending in with the crowd, a perfect spot to camp out at and get back to work inventing something new. Something to show up all those slip-shod messes he’d slapped together to appease Samukai.
In a way though, he can’t help but be grateful to the skulkin and his cronies. Without the elixir of life they’d handed him, without the resurrection tea poured down his throat, he’d have been lost years ago. The gift they’d given him had come with a price, seasons passing wondering if his son was safe out in the world without him, stuck up in that lighthouse tinkering away at inventions he felt no passion for. All alone except for the silly little bots he cooked up in his spare time. Now thought, free from the sea salt and stone, he had time laid ahead and a million projects he thought he’d never have the years for suddenly at his fingertips. Zane was his life’s work, and he’d turned out wonderfully. What could he do now, with another life to dedicate?
Organizing his meager things, he pulls out a duffle bag from the School's storage with DARKLEYS slapped on the side, not quite dusty but on its way there with the rebranding they were undergoing. Gutting the School’s unsavory past and installing a new, more healthy learning environment was a big endeavor for the ninja, especially since they wouldn’t be able to rely on his son to help pull it off. He and Zane pitched in when they could, helping repaint, clean up, and discuss a new curriculum, but it was a shame they’d never get to see it come to fruition. It reminded him of his days teaching to pay the bills while he chased his masters degree, there was a comforting nostalgia he almost didn’t want to leave. A shame it was time to go. Zane might have been a good teacher, too, if given the chance- he was as smart as his old man sometimes! Remarkably patient too, always willing to try and talk it out and find the best in people. Too bad. Maybe they could come back and visit, if work didn’t get too busy. He wouldn’t mind getting into the swing of things and whipping up a lecture for the kiddos. He could decide all that later, though. Now it was time to pack. He shakes out the bag and stacks his items neatly inside: a few notebooks of ideas he’d already cooked up, spare clothes Zane and Sensei Wu had graciously paid for, a few old books from the Library he was positive no one would miss. He was even sure to grab a copy of Zanes old favorites, maybe he’d like to read them again when they got settled. He made a mental note to grab his toothbrush and comb from the bathroom before they departed, puttering about his meager living accommodations to make sure he hadn’t missed anything.
The room itself was a modest little thing, an old student live-in dorm repurposed into more permanent lodging for himself and Zanes other team members. They were nice, a bit more long-term than he thinks Master Wu is willing to admit, but Dr. Julien found them quite cosy. Though anything was a step up from that damp and dreary prison he’d been locked in. He’d always loved the beach, but if he never smelled salt water ever again it’d be a blessing… He frowns, stepping over to the map spread out across his tiny desk, mapping out a possible route down to Metalonia. Sticking to the outskirts would take them closer to the coast, but setting up shop in town might bring unwanted attention. It could be worth it to take the longer route along the east if he really wanted to avoid the sea… it’d put him close to Ignacia, but it might work.
There’s a knock on the door, bright and sharp, and Dr. Julien isn’t surprised when he hurries over and opens the door to his son on the other side, “Zane!” He greets warmly, ignoring the troubled look on his face and pulling him into an embrace, “Have you finished packing yet?” He asks, breaking away.
“That is what I came to speak to you about.” Zane says hesitantly as his father begins to tidy up the room, closing the door behind him for privacy despite the others doing their best to give them space and clearing out for this conversation, “Father, we have discussed this, I…” He frowns openly, “I do not wish to leave.”
Julien stops where he’s folding up his map, staring up at his son with a scrutinizing look, “Zane, I thought you said you didn’t want to be separated from me again? Are you feeling alright, son? Come here, let me check.” He beckons Zane over as he tucks the map into his coat pocket, moving out of the way so he can sit on the edge of the mattress for a diagnostic.
Zane obliges on instinct alone, sitting down, “I am fine, Father,” He says, moving his gi aside to open his chest panel anyway, “And I do not want to be apart, which is why I think you should stay.” Dr. Julien moves to sit next to his son, running a quick inspection of Zanes internal wiring as he speaks, and Zane zeroes in on the way he collapses onto the bed- his knees aren’t what they used to be, “At your age, you shouldn’t be traveling anyways.” He says, obviously trying to be gentle.
Dr. Julien laughs, smiling up at his son as he shifts through the mechanics in a confident routine so familiar it came second nature, memories of them going through these exact motions surfacing faintly, “You don’t need to worry about me, Zane, I have plenty of time left. The ressurectea has given me another lifetime, and I want to spend it with you. It could be like it was before, just the two of us. I was happy.” He examines the connection points on his switchboard, making sure they’re all attached properly, “Weren’t you?”
“Of course!” Zane says instantly, cupping his father's hands to send the confirmation home, “I love you, and I’ve missed you ever since I got my memories back.”
“But now you want to go our separate ways?” He squeezes Zanes fingers, before letting go, going back to his ministrations inside his chest to distract himself, “You and I are family, Zane. I’m disappointed you want me to spend my final years alone.”
Zane shrinks, curling in on himself at those words. Dr. Julien has to hold onto the door of his chest panelling so he won’t pull away too far, where he can’t complete his check-up, “I don’t. I am sorry.”
“Come with me.” He insists, smiling up at Zane as if to say all will be forgiven. They would be, these moments of hesitance. He could let them go.
The checkup is comfortingly familiar, but Zane shakes his head, “My friends are here, they are my family too. I cannot leave- I have responsibilities. I am the white ninja, I am protecting people who cannot protect themselves. Is that not what you wanted?” his vocal processor goes small at the end, soft and uncertain.
“It is, and you’ve done a great job. I’m so proud of you, but now it is time for us to move on to better things… You’re my son, Zane. My greatest creation. I love you, and I won’t leave here without you.” Dr. Julien trains his eyes on his inner workings, his hands stilling, a slight nod as a silent decision is made.
“And I am not leaving.” He says firmly, his own decision giving his words strength, then, “Will you stay?” Zane’s voice has the slightest hint of hope, complex emotions coming so easily now that he’s lived a long and complex life. A shame to lose all that progress.
He sighs deeply, a sad put-upon thing, “No, Zane.” and there’s no need to elaborate.
He watches his facial expression as he does it, half a second of shock and raw hurt, a snap of devastation and fear before his mechanics register that the memory switch has been flipped, the click of it near deafening in the room- the expression vanishes, his wide eyes go glassy and half-lidded and his jaw clenches shut, his body locking and freezing as he goes into limbo. Shoulder stiffly casual, his hands dropping into his lap where they’d made a last-ditch attempt to stop this and stalling short, sitting open and useless on his thighs. All at once his humanity is stripped from him, leaving him a blank canvas, empty and waiting for either a reboot or specific command. He was his son. He was his creation. He was his.
Dr. Julien closes up his chest panel calmly, tying his suit back up properly. He’d need new clothes, these would make him ask questions when he reset him. Dr. Julien didn’t want questions. He didn’t want refusals.
“Come now, Zane.” He says, tapping the nindroid on his forehead, watching those hazy eyes try to focus while in forced stasis. There’s nothing behind his eyes, no recognition other than the need to obey that has been programmed into him, “Follow me. It’s time for us to go.”
Zane carries his bag as they walk right out the front door.

Ms. California, Chapter Six (Crygi) - Mik
A/N: I am SO sorry for taking so long to update! I had the worst case of writer’s block ever, and I had midterms this week. Thanks for being patient. I hope this makes up for my lack of posting!
Summary: Crystal moves to Los Angeles from Missouri and meets Gigi Goode, captain of the varsity cheer squad. Queue the 1990s lesbian high school AU that absolutely nobody asked for.
It’s been two weeks since Gigi announced to the cheer squad that Crystal was, in fact, her friend. And those two weeks had been delightful.
Every day, Gigi made a point to either sit with Jackie, Crystal, and Jan at lunch, or pull Crystal over to the squad’s lunch table. Crystal found herself beginning to enjoy getting to know the group: most of them were, to her surprise, funny, genuine, and generally good-natured. She especially found herself clicking with Nicky and Jaida. Although they were standoffish at first, Crystal quickly bonded with Nicky over her interest in fashion (although many would consider Crystal’s taste questionable at the very best, Nicky seemed to think it was “perfectly unique and lovely”) and Jaida over being the “new kid”, as she had moved from Wisconsin just a few years prior.
When Gigi first began sitting with Crystal, Jackie, and Jan, Jackie seemed to be pensive. She kept quiet and let the other three girls do all of the talking. However, this changed as soon as Gigi talked about what it was like sneaking into gay clubs in West Hollywood. Jackie lit up, asking questions about it for almost the entire lunch period. Crystal knew Jackie wanted nothing more than to have an out-and-proud gay community surrounding her - she was the only one of the four who everyone knew was gay. Gigi promised that she would accompany Jackie, and the other two girls, on one of the “18+” nights that the clubs held. From then on, Jackie seemed to gradually warm towards the blue-eyed cheerleader.
Gigi would drive Crystal home most days, often electing to come inside to do homework and cook dinner. The two would spend the first hour unable to focus, finding themselves tangled up in Crystal’s bed, lips attached and make-up smudged. Eventually, they’d compose themselves and start homework until Crystal’s mom arrived home. She’d hug both girls, and the three would automatically make their way into the kitchen. Gigi had made the comment that she felt, in many ways, that she was already closer to Crystal’s mom than her own. Crystal felt sad for her - Gigi never talked about her family and assumed that the situation was less-than-ideal - but her heart soared when she saw the blonde and her mom in fits of laughter together. Gigi would eat dinner with her family most nights, and Crystal would kiss her goodbye through the window of her magenta convertible before she drove home. They had fallen into a comfortable routine and Crystal could not have been happier.
~
Crystal is sitting with Jackie at their secluded lunch table, sketching the outline of a bird for an art project while Jackie flips through her government textbook. It’s a strangely gray day in Los Angeles and Crystal almost wonders if it will rain: the sun is completely hidden behind fog and dark clouds and it’s chilly enough that Crystal wishes she’d brought a hoodie with her to school.
She’s pulled out of her thoughts when she hears Gigi’s familiar laugh from a distance. It’s light and high-pitched and it makes Crystal light up. She turns around to see Gigi making her way over with Jan; they’re both wearing their cheer uniforms and Crystal doesn’t think she’s ever seen anyone look as stunning as Gigi does.
“Hey girls!” Gigi says as she sits down next to Crystal.
“Hey!” Crystal grins. “You look uh, really pretty in your uniform,” she says in a hushed tone. It’s the first time she’s seen Gigi in it.
Gigi blushes. “Thank you.”
“So, we were talking about what we could do tonight after the game!” Jan interrupts, nudging Jackie softly to get the girl to look up from her textbook.
“What’s that?” Jackie asks, shutting the book.
“What if we all had a big sleepover?!” Jan suggests excitedly.
“Where?” Crystal asks.
“Jan’s house, her mom is really cool,” Gigi explains.
“Yeah, she knows about Jackie and I and is like, super happy for us,” elaborates the other blonde.
“She’s just happy that you’re finally dating someone who hasn’t had all of their braincells tackled out of them,” Jackie quips with a smirk.
“Ouch. But you’re not wrong,” Jan laughs, “I guess football guys aren’t always the brightest tools in the shed.”
“So, what do you think?!” Gigi interjects.
“I’m up for it!” Crystal agrees quickly, excited to spend more time with both of her new friends and her… whatever Gigi is to her.
“Jackie?”
“Obviously!” Jackie smiles.
“Yay!” Jan and Gigi simultaneously exclaim.
“Will you gals come to the football game, then?” Jan asks.
“I guess,” Jackie decides hesitantly.
“I’ve never been to a football game,” Crystal says. “I’ll give it a try, though. Why not?”
“You and I can just hang out at the top of the bleachers and read, Crystal,” Jackie tells the curly-haired girl.
“For sure.“
“Oh, come on, where’s your school spirit?! You gotta cheer the team on!” Jan jokes with her girlfriend and Jackie rolls her eyes playfully.
The wind begins softly blowing, making Crystal shiver again. She doesn’t understand California weather - it’s usually hot enough that she feels like she needs an ice bath, but right now, a warm sweater and some hot chocolate sounds delightful.
“Crys, are you cold?” Gigi asks.
“Oh no, I’m fine,” Crystal assures the blonde, trying not to shiver as another gust of wind blows through.
“You look like you’re cold, I’m giving you my jacket,” Gigi tells her decidedly.
“Gi, no, you totally don’t have to -”
“Here,” Gigi says, pulling off the purple letterman’s jacket.
Gigi drapes the heavy jacket around Crystal’s shoulders. The jacket is huge on her, probably because Gigi is so much taller than she is, and it envelopes her in warmth. Crystal can’t help but notice that it smells like vanilla - exactly like Gigi.
“Thanks,” Crystal blushes as Gigi leans in closer to her.
“You look really good in my jacket and I really want to kiss you right now,” the blue-eyed girl murmurs matter-of-factly.
Crystal’s face heats up more, and although she’s (kind of) gotten used to hearing compliments from Gigi, her brain still seems to short-circuit whenever Gigi says something sweet.
“Get a room!” Jackie laughs, noticing the romantic tension between the two.
“Maybe we will,” Gigi responds, raising an eyebrow. “Crystal, I think I left something in my car that I need some help with.”
“Oh, yeah, the um… the thing!” Crystal stutters out.
Gigi stands, motioning for Crystal to follow her.
“I’ll see you girls later tonight! And Jan, make sure to be on time for warm-ups today!” Gigi calls out, waving back at Jackie and Jan.
“How much longer do we even have at lunch?” Crystal asks once they’re in the parking lot.
“I don’t know, probably fifteen minutes,” Gigi guesses.
They walk briskly to Gigi’s car, and the second the doors shut behind them, Gigi captures Crystal’s lips in a heated kiss.
Crystal is sure that she’ll never get tired of the way that Gigi’s plump lips move softly against her own or the way that Gigi’s hands feel gripping her hips or the way that Gigi always bites down softly on Crystal’s bottom lip after she lightly drags her tongue across it. It’s all nothing short of magic.
Their kissing becomes increasingly passionate, and before Crystal knows it, Gigi tentatively moves her hands below the older girl’s shirt. Crystal lets out a quiet moan as Gigi’s hands make their way up her hips, her fingertips ghosting over Crystal’s ribcage.
Crystal knows this is all very “high school”; her best friends at home had countless stories about making out - or more - with boys in their cars. Crystal never thought she’d be one of them, but here she was, teenage hormones raging.
Crystal’s breath hitches when Gigi’s fingers brush over the side of her chest. Gigi breaks the kiss, still not moving more than a few centimeters away from Crystal.
“Is… that okay?” she whispers.
Crystal nods, reconnecting their lips.
Gigi hesitantly places one of her hands over Crystal’s breast and gently presses her hand against it, eliciting a slight gasp from the shorter girl. The blonde caresses her chest, and Crystal can feel her heart racing. She can’t think about anything but Gigi: Gigi’s hand moving languidly against the fabric of her bra, the feeling of Gigi’s heartbeat, the taste of Gigi’s breath in her mouth…
They’re interrupted when the lunch bell rings out, loudly enough that the two can hear it even from the confines of Gigi’s car.
“Fuck,” Gigi stammers.
“We should uh, get going,” Crystal attempts to slow her breathing.
“Definitely,” Gigi agrees breathlessly.
“That was…”
“Yeah.”
“We should… try that again, not in your car,” Crystal says, her cheeks pink. She almost wants to laugh at how completely and utterly cliché this situation is: if they weren’t both girls, would this not be equivalent to the quintessential high school experience of getting felt up in some boy’s car?
“I’d like that,” Gigi says, regaining her composure. “Ready to go?”
“Yep,” Crystal says, adjusting her shirt.
They walk into the gates of the school, parting ways at the entrance.
Crystal realizes she’s still wearing Gigi’s letterman’s jacket and smiles.
~
“You did what?!” Jackie yells, wide-eyed.
Crystal and Jackie are sitting in Crystal’s bedroom, getting ready to go to the football game. Crystal could care less about supporting her school’s team, or “school spirit” as Jan referred to it, but she painted purple and white streaks on her cheeks anyways. If anything, she thinks Gigi will find it cute.
“Yeah,” Crystal replies to Jackie sheepishly.
“Weren’t you scared of someone seeing?! Not even a student, but like, a teacher!”
“Not really, my mind was… elsewhere,” Crystal replies honestly.
“You’re braver than I am, I’ll give you that,” Jackie mimics Crystal’s idea, dragging purple and white face paint across her own cheeks. “I’m scared to even kiss Jan on the cheek in the car. Or anywhere on campus.”
“Yeah, it might not have been the most responsible idea, in retrospect,” Crystal admits.
“Just be careful, I’d hate for people to find out about you guys,” Jackie warns.
“I don’t plan on people finding out,” Crystal assures her. “On that topic, what’s the deal with Jan’s mom?”
“What do you mean?”
“She just… knows about you guys? And lets you have sleepovers?” Crystal elaborates.
“Yeah,” Jackie smiles. “I remember the day her mom found out. We were laying in her backyard, drinking smoothies, and her mom was supposed to be at the gym. She got home early, I guess, and saw Jan lean in and kiss me.”
“What did she do?”
“She knocked on the window and Jan completely freaked out. She ran inside, and her mom apparently just asked if we were dating, and Jan tried to say it was nothing and completely innocent. Her mom didn’t buy it, and walked outside and asked me . I can’t lie, and I thought she was angry, so I said yes and offered to leave.”
“Was she mad?”
“Oh god no. She gave Jan a hug, and gave me a hug, and said she was happy that if Jan was going to be dating in high school, it was someone like me. It was the first time I’d ever heard that,” Jackie’s eyes light up.
“That’s insane, and really sweet,” Crystal muses. “My parents are both really great, but I doubt they’d respond like that.”
“Mine definitely wouldn’t. I’d be disowned in a second.”
“I’m sorry, Jackie,” Crystal sympathizes.
“Don’t be. Jan’s mom does a good enough job at making me feel like I’m a part of their family.”
The two spend the rest of the time getting ready in relative silence. Six o’clock rolls around, and the pair make their way downstairs to ask if Crystal’s mom can drop them off. Jackie doesn’t want to deal with parking at school during a football game.
“Hey mom! We’re ready to go,” Crystal tells her.
Her mom looks up at her from the book she’s reading. “Oh honey, you two look adorable !”
“Thanks,” Crystal smiles.
“Do you need me to pick you up?” Crystal’s mom asks.
“No, I think we’re staying over at Jan’s - Gigi will drive.”
“Sounds good!” Crystal’s mom grabs her keys. “Let’s get going, then!”
The car ride is short and sweet; it’s filled with small-talk and her mom’s bad taste in music.
“Have fun and be safe, girls!” Crystal’s mom calls out as the two exit the car.
Crystal waves, telling her mom that she loves her, and sets off towards the bleachers with Jackie.
“So, if I’m being completely honest, I don’t uh, really want to sit in the back the whole time,” Crystal laughs.
“Oh?”
“I mean, I wanna like, cheer on Gigi or whatever,” she says. Crystal is wearing the blonde’s letterman’s jacket, and she feels like the girlfriend of the high school quarterback.
Except she isn’t Gigi’s girlfriend and Gigi is the head cheerleader.
“That’s… cute. Okay, well, fine by me,” Jackie shrugs.
The two sit several rows back from the front, far enough away from the over-zealous fans but close enough that they can still see the field, waiting for the game to start.
“Do you come to these much?” Crystal asks.
“Not as much as Jan would like, I’m sure,” Jackie shares. “I guess now that I have you to come with, I’ll come more.”
“It’s like a reverse double-date, or something,” Crystal laughs. “I never thought I’d be sitting at a football game for a girl .”
“I never thought I’d actually make a friend at this school,” Jackie says seriously, attempting to cover the serious nature of her statement with a laugh.
“Come on, you have other friends, right?”
Jackie shakes her head. “I came out and everyone dropped like flies. That and being the weird Persian kid kind of kills my ability to have a social life.”
“Geeze, I’m sorry, Jackie.”
“Hey, I’ve got you and Jan, and oddly enough, Gigi is back in my life, so I can’t complain, can I?”
The game starts, and all of the football players make their way onto the field. The cheerleaders run out shortly after, and Crystal cranes her neck to see her favorite blonde. She stands front and center, leading both the audience and the squad in chants. Gigi is bubbly and upbeat and in her element; she dances and kicks and does the splits and Crystal is nothing short of amazed by her. Next to her, Jackie smiles at Jan and waves to her several times when the squad has a break. Jan beams up at her, waving back each time.
Crystal couldn’t say who won the game, or how many points were scored; she knows next to nothing about sports and was far more entertained by watching Gigi down on the field than the game itself. When the game is over, she and Jackie make their way down to the field to wait for their respective blondes.
Crystal sees Gigi emerge from the field, a smile painted across her face.
“Gi, you were awesome!” Crystal grins, hugging her.
“I’m glad you had fun!” Gigi says enthusiastically.
“Sorry that I sort of stole your jacket,” Crystal apologizes. “You probably wanted it during the game.”
“It looks much cuter on you,” Gigi winks. “Plus, I kind of like seeing you in my jacket.”
“Gross!” Jan jokes, elbowing Gigi. “Are you lovebirds ready to go?”
“I’m ready,” Crystal nods, and Gigi agrees.
“Great! Mom said she’d order pizza for us all!”
The four head to Gigi’s car; it’s less than a five minute drive to Jan’s house from the school.
Jan’s house is surprisingly large; Crystal isn’t used to the gigantic houses that seem to line the streets in Los Angeles. Jan unlocks the door, yelling to tell her mom that she’s home.
Jan’s mom emerges from the kitchen, approaching the door.
“Hi, sweetie, how was the game?” she hugs Jan.
“It was good, we won!” Jan tells her.
“Hello, Jackie!” Jan’s mom moves to hug her daughter’s girlfriend. “You look adorable with your face painted like that!”
“Thank you! It was Crystal’s idea.”
Jan’s mom turns to look at Crystal. “You must be Crystal, the girls have told me so much about you! It’s so nice to meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you, too!” Crystal reaches out to shake her hand, and much like her own mother, Jan’s mom pulls her into a hug.
“We’re big on hugs here, handshakes are for strangers!”
Crystal laughs; she thinks her mom would get along swimmingly with Jan’s.
“And Gigi, you don’t get to avoid my hugs, either!” Gigi laughs as she’s wrapped in a hug. “I’m so glad to see that you aren’t third-wheeling with these two anymore!”
“Hey, she never third-wheels!” Jan laughs, faux-scowling at her mom.
“Well, I’m just happy you have a girlfriend, it’ll give you all some super fun double-dates, I’m sure! You make a cute couple!”
“Oh, we’re not gi-” Crystal begins to correct her before Gigi talks.
“Thank you, hopefully Crystal can get Jackie out to more games!” Gigi jokes.
“Let’s hope! Anyways, what kind of pizza do you girls want?”
~
The four sit on Jan’s living room floor, eating pizza on a mountain of sleeping bags and pillows as It plays in the background. Jackie is cowering into Jan, clearly terrified of the movie that her girlfriend insisted that they watch.
Crystal has seen it before - it’s one of her favorites - and Gigi seems almost as freaked out as Jackie is. The blonde has trapped Crystal’s hand in a death grip and Crystal swears her fingers are losing circulation. She can’t bring herself to care; the sensation of Gigi’s hand in her own is inarguably one of her favorite feelings.
“Why did we have to watch this movie?” Jackie squeaks out. “It’s so… violent.”
“It’s a masterpiece, babe!” Jan debates.
“It’s gory.”
“It’s interesting!”
“Whatever you say, darling,” Jackie says, continuing to hide behind Jan.
Crystal has to stifle a laugh - their exchange is adorably hilarious, and she thinks that they’re perfect for each other. She looks down at Gigi, who has buried her head in Crystal’s arm, and squeezes the blonde’s hand.
Her mind wanders as the movie plays on. Gigi didn’t tell Jan’s mom that they weren’t girlfriends and wonders if Gigi is interested in being exclusive. Crystal hasn’t thought about it much until this point - she’s been enjoying living in the moment with Gigi - but now the thought won’t leave her mind.
She can see herself in a relationship with Gigi easily. They’ll go on dates and fall asleep next to each other and surprise each other with flowers and Crystal will show up at all of Gigi’s cheer events with enthusiasm. She wants to wear the letterman’s jacket every day, and she never wants to go a day without feeling Gigi’s fingers intertwined with her own.
Crystal’s thoughts trail on until the end of the movie. Jackie has fallen asleep in Jan’s lap and Jan is lazily stroking her curly, dark hair as she, too, begins to drift off. Gigi is wide awake, still clutching Crystal’s hand.
“Do you wanna go sit on the porch?” Gigi asks Crystal quietly.
Crystal nods, and the two stand. Gigi has clearly been over to Jan’s house enough that she knows exactly where to go, because she leads Crystal to a sliding glass door. They sit down on the wooden porch in Jan’s backyard, and Crystal lets out a contented sigh as Gigi plants a kiss on her cheek.
“Thanks for coming tonight. It really, really means a lot to me, Crys.”
“Hey, of course. I like watching you, you look so happy when you’re cheering.”
“Not as happy as I am when I’m with you,” Gigi hums.
“That was cheesy,” Crystal jokes, wrapping her arm around the blonde.
“Look what you’ve done to me, Crystal Elizabeth. You’ve turned me into a complete dork! I’m almost as bad as Jan!” Gigi jokes.
Crystal can feel butterflies fluttering around in her stomach when Gigi uses her middle name - it feels like a term of endearment.
“Who said dorky was a bad thing? I happen to think your dorky comments are adorable - or should I say, adorkable!” Crystal laughs.
“Okay, now that was bad,” Gigi snorts.
“You love it.”
“I know.”
The two sit in silence, wrapped up in each other’s arms, enjoying the cool night air.
“I actually wanted to talk to you about something,” Gigi breaks the silence.
“What’s up?” Crystal asks.
“I hate to be that girl that asks this question, but like… what is this?”
Crystal doesn’t know how to answer - she doesn’t know what will be too much for Gigi and doesn’t want to scare the girl off. She doesn’t want to look inexperienced and over-eager.
“I, uh, I don’t know. I haven’t thought about it,” Crystal lies.
“Oh.”
“Not that I don’t want to think about it!” Crystal quickly follows up. “What do you think this is?”
“Hey, not fair! I asked you first!” Gigi giggles.
“I mean, I really like you. Enough that I went to my first high school football game in four years for you.”
“I really like you too, Crystal.”
“So…” Crystal trails off, avoiding the question she knows she needs to ask.
“You’re going to make me be the one to say it, aren’t you?”
“I have no idea what you mean,” Crystal feigns innocence.
“Crystal, I want you to be my girlfriend,” Gigi declares.
Crystal presses a light kiss on Gigi’s lips before replying.
“Gi, I want nothing more than to be your girlfriend.”
Gigi leans her head on Crystal’s shoulder and throws her arms around the older girl’s waist. Crystal runs her fingers through her blonde hair, pressing gentle kisses to the top of her head as the two sit in a comfortable quietness.
Crystal can’t think of anything better than this.

Milton and Jack is in implied ship in my regular Kickin it Mirror Image AU I’ve been working on. Only reason it’s implied is because I thought it be funny if the only confirmed relationship is Ty and Rudy as husbands. I have like a couple posts on here that explain that AU, I’m lowkey still writing it but the whole outline and names of the episodes is done. I even finished like three chapters but I gotta re read um to make sure they’re entertaining to read.
Wait hold on here’s the episode list ITS LONG ASF
“Hachiji dachi Halloween” “Halloween Episode”: The Wasabi Warriors and the White Inferno compete to see who can collect the most candy by midnight .

ANYONE WHO SAYS THEYRE GONNA WATCH KICKIN IT BECAUSE OF MY AU OR MY CRACK SHIP THIS IS FOR YOU.
DONT DO IT PLEASE… It did not age as well as lab rats or mighty med. there’s definitely fun episodes and the characters are great it’s just those side characters… some are good some are bad and some are racial stereotypes (im looking at you Phil and Bobby Wasabi 😒) also Frank is canonically a pedophile, imagine Troy from lab Rats: this guy who’s older then everyone else cause he got held back, but he’s pining after one of the students, instead of just bullying them. ITS CRAZY BRO.
Also also, the fourth season is trash, like not as bad as LR season four tho it’s like unwatchably bad almost. And Kai? Yeah that sassy king? He’s only in two episodes starched across 2 seasons! He’s still a slay tho.
So that was just a warning to any pookies who wanna watch Kickin it. It’s got good qualities but u less you have nostalgia for it it’s kinda not THAT good…
Kai is still my Pookie tho…

A few annoying things that have happened over the past 32 hours:
1) Since I graduated, the alumni office has given me parking passes. since last year thy’ve done away with that and despite working on campus, because I’m registered in classes, I have to pay $50 for a student parking pass and until I am able to get it, I risk a ticket when I go to work
2) A professor found a hole in the methods of my study, and while it’s good that it was found I’m at a loss on how to amend it
3) I have to buy yet another textbook
4) My prof for GIS took out all the homework assignments cause it’s just me in the class. While this eases my workload, it also means that my grade rests onlu on my project proposal, abstract, and final presentation
5) A classmate I was excited to take said class with withdrew in order to help fill another class, one that is required in the program, so I’m going about this solo and without anyone to commiserate with
#Sword speaks#yet despite all this#I still think GIS is going to be the fun class#it's new and it's a challenge#but unlike my other classes it's mostly hands on and uses problem solving skills instead of critical analysis#a part of my brain that hasn't gotten much excersise in recent years#and oh boy do I love a puzzle

I made this blog a few years ago but really dropped the ball on my original plans for comparing the manga and anime because of my utter lack of an ability to focus on a large-scale project, so instead I’m going to just make more freeform small-scale posts like this.
