Not (just) because they're incredibly pretty (although that is a much appreciated bonus!) but because they're probably not the faker who's just chomping at the bit to murder us/our other allies, what with how easily they could have already done it if they were.

Yessss... join in the game of Werewolf (with potentially real werewolves) and try to figure out who's doing what for whichever reason and who's safe to actually ally/romance/platonically-bromance with!

@goldiipond I think she's still a sister candidate at this point since they wear identical outfits to the moms, there's six of them behind Yukko in the full shot putting the total two over the five-plant limit

and a minute earlier in the episode Isabella says "the sisters have received their orders as well" to Peter.

It's still really bizarre in-universe though because for whatever reason they are so hard-pressed for people to fill this temporary role to move the kids out of Grace Field that they fast tracked her promotion when there's got to be dozens of sisters reassigned to the the roles of infant caretakers, doctors, chefs, etc. who would be more seasoned and trustworthy, but if this is meant to be a test of its own for them then I guess it makes sense? Still sad they didn't intend to do anything with it for story purposes.

Going to preface this with how amazing it is people will send me asks on topics I've had vague drafts of for ages but for whatever reason never published them.

But yes, I'm still really attached to the idea of young sister candidates who still have siblings alive old enough to remember them being able to reunite with said siblings upon the farm system being dismantled, and one of the things that's most appealing about the Emma and Ray & Goldy Pond Resistance kids dynamics for me is them regaining that type of older sibling relationship after they had been the oldest siblings of their family for months if not two years since Susan was shipped out (this is also applicable to Norman with Vincent, Cislo, and Barbara post-imperial capital battle).

It's also a bit funny how CloverWorks provides a bit of foundation for this AU, saving Michelle from death because they wanted to save time and resources by reusing her model for one of the sisters that shows up in S2 episode 10.

Arguably one of the best changes they opted for, though they do nothing interesting with it. There's so much melancholic and healing potential upon a reunion with the younger siblings who still remember her and Olivia after spending years in a cutthroat environment that fostered division and systemic exploitation.

With Ray specifically, there's the belief he failed them by letting them walk off to their fate without lifting a finger to stop it or even just provide them with a warning, anything to give them an advantage and show he loved and cared about them, but in his pragmatic planning, he prioritized Emma and Norman over them, and that old regret and shame resurfaces.

And they're left with that dawning, muted realization of "ah, that explains why he'd get so sad every time a sibling left."

Knowing he suffered in silence for so long and having been unable to provide him with a true sense of safety like an older sibling should, a new layer of sorrow tinging the memories of attempting to comfort him, sometimes with him maybe briefly lashing out due to something they said being unintentionally hurtful (e.g., "I'm sure they're happy with their new parents" because no they're not they're not they're not they're dead) but always ending with him curling in on himself and wanting to be left alone. Even during the few times it seemed like they were successful (though looking back, Susan and the collective efforts of Emma and Norman probably held the higher success rate), that ache is still present.

Again, lot of healing potential in that initial reunion hug between them and subsequent late night talks of mutual support where tales of their respective horrors slip out and worries over the search for Emma ebb and flow. (You could also go the route of him opening up about the full extent of his relationship with Isabella, though I'm firmly of the "there is no way in hell he is ever bringing that up until his 20s at the earliest unless prompted by an outside force" camp).

I would extend this out to all the older Grace Field kids from Ray through probably Nat though, if only because the first light novel already highlights Ray has a special attachment to Susan that it feels like he's taking up a disproportionate amount of spotlight without inherently offering a more unique spin on such a relationship, and we see Michelle and Olivia interacting with Emma and Norman a bit too, which is also precious.

Everything about Eddie Munson was incredible. Steve was so in love with him, it felt like he’d waited his whole life, been through everything he has, just to get to love Eddie.

But he couldn’t say it.

He knew he should; Eddie looked at him sometimes like he desperately wanted him to. But he thought he was misreading it, and he knew if he said it and Eddie didn’t feel the same, it would drive a wedge into their relationship.

He couldn’t lose Eddie because he was too much.

By their sixth month together, he could feel Eddie getting frustrated and he could feel himself shrinking away, but he still didn’t say it.

Couldn’t put the blame on him if/when they fell apart.

But Eddie seemed to finally have enough.

“Steve? Can I ask you a question?”

“Yeah. Always.”

“Do you think it’s possible that you’ll ever love me? Or am I just holding onto hope for nothing?”

Steve couldn’t breathe. If he said no, that would be the end of it all, Eddie wouldn’t stick around. If he said yes, then sure, they’d probably be fine for a little while, but eventually, Eddie would leave.

“I know it’s possible.”

“I guess I just wanna make sure we aren’t stuck here forever. Like, me loving you and you tolerating me.”

Steve’s jaw went slack as he realized Eddie said it. He said it.

And I must say that what I'm looking forward to the most is when our protagonists meet the other prides. I can't wait because it's completely different from the one Hope and Adamant grew up with.

I'm glad that these prides are very different. To contrast this, for example, in Warriors there are five clans and they differ from each other only in where they live and food they eat. And the truth is they are practically the same, there is no diversity in thinking, lifestyle or beliefs.

However, your prides have these differences. I noticed that Golden Grove focuses a lot on the character of the Great King. Hope herself mentions that they don't hear much about the Traveler, and both her mother and grandmother were rather against the Traveler lifestyle and view the Traveler herself as an omen. Edge's Kingdom is one big business, him being big CEO, and he has a slightly different approach to Traveler and death in general. In Periwinkle's pride (or maybe 'garden'?) there is a lioness who is said to have a bond with Traveler. Their group is also quite... specific. The Thundering Mountains pride actually looks more like a typical kingdom there. Many lions come from different places, but they live together under the protection of one monarch. Both the current King and his young successor seem to be very noble leaders who primarily care about the good of the pride. Overall great variety.

Of course, we also have the Travelers and their lifestyle, but it is completely different from the prides, so I think Hope and Adamant realized early on that it would look completely different from the life they knew. But the meeting of other prides and the confrontation of their beliefs and systems will certainly confuse our girls. I mean they were so confused about eating alongside Storm (and what's worse it wasn't always like that in Golden Grove! Man I hate Jasper! I can't even see Edge doing that to his kids!)

To sum up, I love your world building <3 you managed to create a completely different and interesting groups in one story! I can't wait for more!

Yeah, we've tried to make pride distinct and unique on top of having their own naming themes. Like you've pointed out, the Clans within Warrior Cats had some potential but they're ultimately kinda boring and same-y. To the point where I was all gdi because I kept getting ShadowClan on unofficial 'which wc clan do you belong to' quizzes.

Fortunately, I took the official one and got SkyClan and they actually have some stuff going on with the daylight warriors (yeah, hot take: I like the concept) and so on. WindClan and RiverClan are least have some culture going on via the former's closeness to StarClan and the latter's affinity to water but the main players - ThunderClan and ShadowClan - are just very boring to me.

So yeah, completely hear you there. lol

Thus, we wanted to provide some variety with the prides and also give opportunity for those who want to make their own fan prides. Especially when it comes to ranks and titles. For example, the non-canon Kingblessed Coast pride that I'm working on is operated like a pirate ship's crew vs. a monarchy, so we have a Captain in place of a King/Queen. Honestly, sky's the limit because these prides are not unified under a weird government order. They are their own individual democracies... Or dictatorships. Whichever you wanna go by. lol

But yes, storywise: we wanted Hopeful to experience worlds with a plural and various cultures that differ so drastically from the Golden Grove. For better or for worse. We wanted our audience to ooh and ahh with her as we go on. Africa as a place is so diverse in its landscapes and environment. It's not all just desert and grasslands. There's mountains, canyons, valleys, the list goes on. My only real regret is that we won't see any coastal areas because they're beautiful af.

I'm particularly looking forward to showing more of the crystal caves of the Thundering Mountains tho. <33

Having a realisation that knowing about the history of the Caribbean Golden Age of Piracy is both advantage and disadvantage when it comes to OFMD and the framing of the seasons. On one hand, knowing the potential of what's to come. On the other, gdi, knowing the potential of what's to come 😅

We're currently in late 1717/early 1718 in the show.

The end of the Republic of Pirates came when the British reclaimed Nassau in 1718 and planted a new governor in place. Massive swathes of pirates took the Act of Grace pardons to work as a kind of reserve Navy for the Crown and dodge the noose. After being hunted by his former colleagues (including Hornigold), Blackbeard died in combat in November 1718.

All those clocks ticking in the background in the show are a countdown to the end of piracy. The empire is back and it's not playing. Ricky is just the latest face of it. As Wellington said in 1x01, the empire plans to "blow them to hell" and S2 was just the start.

Looking at the preview for next week, dare I hope that someone has heard my mutterings about has realized how badly Bad Buddy dealt with bullying and its fallout and is actually going to do some of the cleanup and reconciliation work that BB almost completely leapfrogged over?

Because, listen. I love BB as much as anyone, it was probably my real gateway into Thai bl, but it's always bugged me how much that show and this writing team - the same team responsible for Dangerous Romance - allowed the execrable behavior by Pat and the Engineering Backup Hobbits to disappear down the memory hole once the romance storyline kicked into gear, and how much the show was allowed to get away with that, to the point that Wai's concern over Pat's apparently - from the outside - sudden obsessive interest in Pran was seen as intrusive and inappropriate and the rest of the Architecture Backup Hobbits were seen as trash friends for being unhappy to suddenly learn that Pran was dating someone who was responsible for repeated physical assaults on them, rather than Pran's consorting with Pat being seen - at. all. - as the friendship betrayal that it was.

Y'all. I saw someone recently making the argument that Pat was better than Kanghan because sweetheart Pat would never really punch down, and I was like, "I don't think I can even deal with this right now" and just kept scrolling. Because I've posted before about how Pat and the rest of Engineering essentially are Kanghan and Nawa and Third Backup Hobbit, what is this J's character's name that I can't remember right now, gdi? Pat and the Engineering Backup Hobbits are manifestly responsible for starting 95% of the physical altercations that we see in BB, and the other 5%, the bus stop altercation - although we know Wai was pissed about the video uploaded to the Internet, I don't remember that we're ever actually told who threw the first punch. Pat's reputation at the school - ALREADY, and how long has he even been there? - is that he's the guy who makes life miserable for Architecture students. Pat is responsible for siccing the other three on Wai in the first place, including an attempt at aggravated assault that they end up accidentally committing on Pran instead, and wanting to get humiliating video of Wai to upload to the Internet, just as Kanghan attempts to do to Sailom in DR. Pat sits back in the booth at the bar, fuming over a rebuff from Pran and lording it over Wai's humiliation - at his job - which is presented by Korn as a night's "entertainment" for Pat, in much the same way Kanghan sits on his trash-panda throne in an unused room of the school and lords it over his schoolmate subjects while Nawa and Third Backup Hobbit lock Guy in a closet and work over Auto, as well as attempting to get Sailom fired from one job and poisoning his ability to do another job.

And it's extremely subtexutally suggestive that Pat is, in fact, punching down when he goes after Wai, who's a scholarship student and, while not the only character we see working at a job, isn't working at a family business as Pa and Pran do. We learn that he needs to be able to balance his extracurriculars and his studies because he needs to keep his scholarship, and all of that is suggestive that he's not as well-off as the rest of the students, and that he can't retaliate or protect himself in any meaningful way when he's harassed on the job because he likely needs the job in the first place because he needs the money for things his scholarship doesn't pay for. If Pat and the rest of Engineering get him fired with their stunt at his workplace, he could potentially not be able to afford school, which could change the entire path of his life. So yeah, Pat punches down, along with Korn and Chang and Mo, just like Kanghan does, along with Nawa and Third Backup Hobbit, gdi, hold on ... Max, that's his name. Just because Architecture in BB generally do a better job of physically hitting back than Sailom's crew doesn't mean that Engineering aren't just as much bullies as Kanghan and his lackeys.

And I'm pretty excited to see that Sailom is going to attempt to make Kaghan not just behave about it but do some work to make reparations and build better relationships. This is why I'm always a little baffled at people who cite the pacing as why they're giving up on the show - we've gotten plenty of hints that none of the real issues are solved yet. That possessiveness that has Kanghan pulling Sailom away from everyone else by the wrist is going to come back and be an issue. The fact that Sailom basically indentured himself to Kanghan's family to pay off his own family's debt - that has the potential to come back and be an issue. No, everything's not solved yet - we're only halfway through.

I am so, SO HAPPY that the Yu Yu Hakusho live action exists at all. Like, I can’t even begin to explain how happy that makes me. It’s so freaking cool to see the characters many of us love in live action, to see the world brought to life. To see Kuwabara! Kuwabara!!! The actor is SO GOOD as Kuwabara. And even though I am freaking ECSTATIC about it, I am so sad and disappointed that Netfl*x has prevented this show from being the best it could be with its corporate garbage. First off, 5 episodes??? 5? FIVE? That’s it? You give this well established, beloved, comes-packaged-with-a-dedicated-fan-base manga/anime only 5 episodes to do the impossible? I mean, come on, how can they sit there in their offices and zoom calls with their charts and graphs and calculators and literally decide that FIVE EPISODES is enough for a first season of this story? Like, what was going on in those brains? Yyh is guaranteed views just from its long history of inspiring SO MANY of the most loved mangas/animes out there. Sure, it was never gonna pull OP numbers, but gdi OP is not the norm! The charm and heart of YYH is the characters, and to destroy any potential to establish those characters by deciding on such a low episode count is ignorant, embarrassing for Netfl*x, and honestly so disrespectful to Togashi’s work. Like, I’m not trying to say that Togashi’s work deserves more effort than others, but I’m saying that the story speaks for itself and that character wise, it’s difficult to mess it up because the characters are not a mystery where we need to fill in a ton of blanks. They are well established, incredibly written and developed and idk in what world TPTB over there thought that FIVE EPISODES would be enough to not only build the world, develop one of the many plots, AND establish 4 main characters. Idk man. Like I said, I am ecstatic that it exists, but like with other things I am disappointed that these corporate idiots don’t understand that you need to spend money to make money. So, idk, give them more money to work with. And give them at the very least 12 episodes. That should be the bare minimum.

I do hope the way he comes back is genuinely somewhat horrifying though and not some kind of just "oh, he's back! but how is this possible???" I'm still rooting for a Sigma unwilling corruption arc, though I'm feeling it less likely since now we know he collapsed due to the memory intake.

The Fukuzawa and Fukuchi scene was made so much worse better by having Aya be the one to find them. Fukuzawa's expressions were so. Ow. So were Teruko's. I hope she continues to make an appearance. I want to know more about her still.

I am questioning why Dazai wasn't in the ADA group shot. Does Fukuzawa not consider him part of the group? Or does he not consider Dazai part of his responsibility? Or has he just given up on him because he's in jail and Dazai's just going to turn up on their doorstep after all this like a ragged wet dog he didn't ask for and Fukuzawa's gonna be like "oh gdi I forgot about him"???

Though honestly aside from this, I don't have many thoughts or anything. I'm still eagerly waiting for the new arc to start so I can start theorizing and analyzing again. :D

I introduce you to my new Rook, Renata Ingellvar (age 51)! A fellow Watcher, mage, and professor of the necromantic arts who willingly took a well-earned sabbatical to travel the world of Thedas after the events of the War of the Banners, knowing all too well of the audacity of Nevarran nobles. She was much loved amongst the younger students and Watchers (and Vorgoth, but don't let them hear you say that) and was known for her... unique teaching styles that went beyond the classroom, aggravating many of her peers... except for Emmrich, of course. I imagine that they met and collaborated quite a few times over their years of teaching.

Rook was more than willing to reunite with a fellow colleague when the time arose for a Fade expert in the fight against Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain.

Oh, the romantic potential with this set-up is so tasty! I bet these two could talk for hours about their studies! Especially him admiring her teaching techniques and expressing joy that there are others in academia who enjoy what they do and are so passionate.

The game’s dialogue really implies an age difference, but with the blessing of Emmrich’s writer Sylvia to disregard it as anything ‘canon’, I love seeing some 40s, 50s, 60+ Rooks and their romances. 👏

I can only imagine that must have been a lovely reunion for them, especially after the War of the Banners!

DEADASS old man shang tsung should be loved more

Like mk legends shang tsung specifically is absolutely delicious.

(Minus some things like not really showing his treachery to shao kahn. Like it's playing a bit too safe in the cunning department. And honestly makes it look like he's a sinp for shao kahn when he fucking wasn't and hated his guts and would happily stab shao in the back 1000 times over if you ask him and given him the opportunity to. And not to mention it's so convenient around plot. And i hate that. Because honestly holy shit this shang had potential. He had the presence,the aura,but never really shown to fight. And it sucks. Because shang is supposed to be a beast in kombat. He was a fucking boss after all. Like gdi nrs. Why you gotta fumble this guy so hard?! Like the writing is right there!)

The reason why i feel old man shang or at least how shang tsung IS SUPPOSED TO BE.

This mofo is cursed. To age. Less he takes the lifeforce/souls of others Because he decided to say "fuck you elder gods! Imma take your ritual healing dark magics and apply it to kombat. Imma take this shit and make it my own!" DEADASS a Dracula energy/soul vampire. Like this man despite everything,still could whoop your ass because he is fucking 500yrs old! From old dynasty china. In earthrealm. Yeah.

This man used to be a warrior from earthrealm,got into beef with raiden,and said fuck you im switching sides as soon as he caught whiff of an opportunity to(at least in his mind at the time) be treated "better" (which he really wasn't as better off,maybe even worse,but he had some power and some better standing tho at a cost)

Like you could take shang tsung in many ways. But all in all he doesn't need to be twirly mustache to be evil. Nor does he need to be good or "SOME GODS PLAYTHING!" to be righteous or do honorable things.

Legitimately mofo shang tsung as an old man should be written as a person who comes off as uncannily and eerily calm,a air of danger but you can't really run away nor want to. You're too damn curious even tho you're screaming inside to run. He needs that true fucking snake vibe.

Very few people have written and portrayed this successfully. And tagawa pioneered that well vibe for villains imho. (Tho the man was unfortunately typecasted by Hollywood this man by god set the bar high. He did it so damn well. He put his whole heart into this. And honestly out of all his roles,this was the most notorious of his roles. Tho i hope this man gets more leisure roles and happier roles in the future. And eventually has a safe,and peaceful retirement. He deserves it. Fr. Thank you Mr. Tagawa seriously. <3 )

Same with alan lee. I feel his would have made me like it more if fans and story weren't shit.

But all in all shang tsung being rejuvenated and young is nice. And should be shown especially since he is cursed. But his default,unpopular opinion here but. His old man form should be his default look. If not old man old man,then a but of salt n pepper at bare minimum.

Are there any dark fanfiction about Yui that is based on the fact that we are described in detail her suffering in the Sakamaki mansion, which leads to her bitterness as a person and she eventually fights back and takes cruel revenge? Well, or something close to it? I'm just a big fan of angst, where there's a lot of suffering, but in the end everything leads to a good or hopeful ending.

I sure have written some fics like that!

The one where Amaya is Yui's lady-in-waiting that she eventually falls for and kills her (unspecified) husband.

The what if Yui joined the OnS vampire extermination army and met Amaya later fic. The trash dying is like one sentence, but I do explore the idea of Yui having PTSD.

Also coming eventually someday maybe!

"Villainess Isekai" concept where Yui potentially goes dark after hearing Amaya tell her the game plot and realizing the trash kind of indirectly caused Amaya to die and get isekai"d.

The concept I have dubbed "Amayui Alter" for when they go maximum dark mode. This one's the revenge murder deluxe special lol.

Tbh though, I don't usually go into that much detail regarding Yui's suffering because I just don't want to think about it too much anymore to preserve my own sanity ;^^. Balancing that feeling with how much I actually do want to write stuff that addresses it and processes my own pain regarding it is very....difficult to say the least but I think I'm learning to find the compromise there.

Because gdi do I also love angst that just hurts so good and has a fulfilling happy ending, but MAN is it hard to write when the other part of me just doesn't want Yui to be hurting at all.😭😭😭
