Why is no one talking about the fact that the union captain thought Blondie and Tuco were together, as a couple? When his men led them to him, he first asked Blondie where he was from, then turned to Tuco and asked: "And you?" Tuco glanced at Blondie out of the corner of his eye, then waved his arm in his direction and said: "I'm with him." The camera then shows the captain, and it is worth looking at his facial expression and body language, because it reflects a realization, as if he's just thinking: "Yeah, these bitches are clearly together, good for them."

Btw, I don't understand why I don't see a single picture/gif or sentence about the union captain, because personally he is my favourite side character in the whole movie. It's a shame he only got about 10 minutes because he was specifically the only one who treated Blondie and Tuco like normal human beings and didn't posed any threat to them. At the end, before he left to lead his army into battle, he even called them his friends.😭❤

And damn it, he shared with them his thoughts about the whole war and the goddamn bridge, which if he had probably told somebody else, for example a fellow officer or a superior, and it had come out, he would have been hanged or executed for it. Even he himself has said that it is a crime to even think about destroying that bridge, and he pours his heart out to Blondie and Tuco, who in this one scene throughout the whole movie seem like they are not really on top of the situation. They just listen to what the captain has to say and follow him wherever he goes.

This movie is a treasure as it is, with all the scenes in it, all of which I love, but this scene remains one of my personal favourites, even if no one else talks about it.

Ok I was thinking a lot about how Mortimer fits into my Celestial AU, because man the decision to cast Lee Van Cleef as two separate characters keeps me up at night. and I think I’ve settled on a thought I like. I think he and Angel Eyes are the same person in this AU, and after his defeat in GBU, he was forced to look his hubris in the eyes and learn humility. And in A Few Dollars More, there’s a central theme around greed, yeah? And the villains are destroyed by their own greed, and Mortimer rejects that cash in the film, giving it all to Manco. So to me that is Angel Eyes growth.

Additionally, I think he and Manco/Blondie recognize each other when they first meet, but are basically like NOT THIS GUY AGAIN!! But as the film progresses, the two break down the barrier of them “knowing each other” and ACTUALLY knowing each other. I think this could be shown in sooo many ways. Like Blondie shooting his hat repeatedly. And his initial betrayal of Mortimers proposal to be partners, but this time Mortimer sees it coming.

And then I think Mortimers sister was also an Angel, but since suicide is a “grave sin” she becomes a fallen Angel, and I don’t really know if this happens before, after, or simultaneously with Angel Eyes becoming a fallen Angel.

Anyway! I’m not saying this is what I actually think the movies trying to say, this is just in the terms of my own personal AU. The trilogy gives so much subtext and not a lot of text that I think it’s cool to fill in the blanks in your own way.

Also had the funny idea to have Jay and V descendants of the Eastwoods as the old man has enough children who already have children so the genealogical tree definitely will make it to 2077. lol Jay definitely can do The Squint™
