John Metcalfe - Tree - a modern classical suite with both chamber and orchestral arrangements.
Tree is eight immersive compositions that take the listener through twenty-four hours in the life of one of nature’s most majestic creations The Durutti Column viola-playing master - a composer and arranger for the likes of U2, Coldplay, Peter Gabriel and Blur, as well as co-founder with Tony Wilson of the Factory Classical label – had been composing music spontaneously, instinctively, when the idea of Tree arrived. The album came from a desire in John Metcalfe to write at scale – perhaps a natural reaction for a composer writing out of the silences and solitude of our recent pandemic years. “The pieces I was writing were big and trying to be bigger, so I knew they had to be to do with something – and then I thought about one of the most profound experiences of my life.” He is referring to seeing Tāne Mahuta as an adult, the largest known living kauri tree in the world. Set in an ancient subtropical rainforest on the North Island of Aoreatoa / New Zealand, John had spent his early childhood living in that part of the world after his British father had "escaped there as a ten-pound Pom". Having emigrated to England as a child, he went back to New Zealand with his wife when he was 26. He explains, “…we thought we’d tick something off the tourist list, and I thought we're going to see trees, which is great – but we weren’t prepared for what happened.”. They both cried when they found Tãne Mahuta, and Metcalfe is still amazed at the reaction he had: “… as an atheist, it was the closest I’ve ever got to a spiritual moment… there was something extraordinary about the atmosphere in the forest and the size of this tree, and the sense that it had been there a long time. It was about the protection it gave, and the sense of connection we had with that protection.” Written for live players and recorded in Abbey Road Studios to convey human connection at scale, Tree imagines what it would be like to be sat completely still under a tree that you love, being alive to the ever-shifting interplay of light, colour, weather and sound. Shimmering pulsating layered tracks take the listener on a voyage that takes in the dawn chorus, depicted by conversations between chirruping woodwind and staccato strings, through to the solemnity of dusk and into the playful night. The album at times summons up the folkloric power of ancient forests through an emotional crescendo in emotion and sound, before bringing us back to sunrise, and a reflection on the journey we’ve taken. Tree isn’t just about Tãne Mahuta, explains Metcalfe: “It could be about any tree – they’re all very magical.” This record isn’t a political statement, but it's clear to him that as science progresses, and as climate breakdown progresses, people are trying to find deeper ways to understand and cherish nature. "It’s about the music that people are trying to create to connect with things that are huge and beautiful and inexplicable around them." Tree is John's beautiful, emotional attempt. "My album's about describing our relationship with something as every-day and extraordinary as a tree, and how it can be an incredibly important part of who we are.” All tracks written, produced and performed by John Metcalfe Additional Strings on Tracks 1,3,5,6,8 Violins Everton Nelson (leader), Natalia Bonner, Charlie Brown, Emil Chakalov, Alison Dods, Louisa Fuller, Richard George, Raja Halder, Marianne Haynes, Rick Koster, Oli Langford, Steve Morris, Charles Mutter, Tom Pigott-Smith, Cathy Thompson, Debbie Widdup Violas, Peter Lale, Reiad Chibah, Gillianne Haddow, Kate Musker, Andy Parker, Rachel Robson Celli Richard Harwood, Adrian Bradbury, Ian Burdge, David Daniels, James Douglas, Julia Graham, Sophie Harris, Tony Woollard, Double Basses Stacey Watton, Roger Linley, Richard Pryce, Lucy Shaw Woodwind on Tracks 3,4,5,6,7,8 Oboe Alun Derbyshire Bassoon Sarah Burnet Strings fixed by Jenny Goshawk for Isobel Griffiths Ltd. So y’all get two in one day cause this was almost done i was just editing it (shocking i know). But this one is gonna be a bit rougher. and it’s only chapter 1 (it’ll be better organized and able to find on a03 when everything is uploaded.) but this was inspired by the Gabe!Alive Au that @dolls-circus @lostinanothersmemories and @branchtrance were talking about. this is def gonna be multi chaptered, but it might take me a bit to write it all.
Pairing: Gabe Shaw + Darlin/Tank (Platonic) WC: 2k+ TW: blood and injury, violence, mentioned broken bones, threats of violence, manipulating, attempted murder, hospitals, feelings of helplessness, feelings of failure. Genre: hurt/angst
Gabriel Shaw was a lot of things, charismatic, a doting father, stern and strong. He was strong enough to fight off most people, was strong enough to raise his young son on his own after his Mate passed, and was even strong enough to practically raise another pup that didn’t quite have the best home life. In fact, you would almost never imagine the word ‘Weak’ as something that could be used to describe Gabriel Shaw, and yet that was the only word he could think of to describe his current situation.
The vampire the pack had been helping Tank track, Quinn, had caught him off guard and it was quite obvious that the bastard had fed quite recently. Dirty tricks and weapons had been crutial in helping Quinn overpower Gabe with relative ease, and when Gabe thought the sadistic fuck would finish the job…he didn’t.
Leaning over the battered Alpha, Quinn slipped his phone from his back pocket. Opening it with ease, as Gabe had yet to put any kind of password on the device. Gabe could hear him humming a jaunty tune to himself as he scrolled through device until he found what he wanted.
“Hello there, my dear heart~” His voice sounded far too jovial for someone that was covered in blood, “I think I’ve got someone here that you want to see so you better find me soon or I might just take this one from you too.” Gabe could faintly hear the sound of Tank shouting at Quinn over the phone before the male dropped the device, crushing it under the heel of his boot.
His gaze turned to Gabe, and it made the Alpha sick to his stomach. The man was practically beaming down at him, the shit eating grin looking almost psychotic on his face. His gaze only moved when he smelt his true prey finally arriving. Gabriel felt their presence almost as quickly as Quinn did and he felt his gut drop. He had hoped, that despite Quinn’s instructions…that they would have at least brought another member of the pack, or that Collins fellow, hell anyone that could have their back. Yet just like Quinn had ordered, they had come alone.
“Gabe!” Their eyes landed on his mangled body almost instantly, their gut clenching tightly at the sight of their Alpha beaten and broken on the concrete. He had never heard their voice sound so broken, but seeing him injured beyond what they had ever seen was probably shocking. Gabe tried to force himself from the pavement, trying to be strong for them. Despite what they said, after all the years he had looked after them, fed and trained them, and hell sometimes clothed them, Gabe thought of them as his own child. Even if they denied such a thing, they were just as much his kid as David was, and he wanted to keep them safe. Neither of them would die today, not if Gabe had anything to say about it.
Despite his thoughts, Quinn obviously had other plans. Before Gabe could force himself up, he felt a boot coming down to crush his windpipe. The treads of the boot grinding into the skin of his neck and forcing a gasp from the Alpha. Gabe could faintly hear another shout from Tank as they watched this occur, but couldn’t move…frozen in place at the sight.
“Well, well, well, look who decided to show up. Little late don’t you think, darlin’?” The familiar nickname sounded like venom coming from Quinn’s lips. Tank’s eyes bore holes into him, and if looks could kill then Quinn would have been incinerated. Though it didn’t seem to bother him, in fact he enjoyed the sight of their hatred and rage directed at him. It brought him a sense of pleasure like nothing else could.
“Let him go, your beef is with me Quinn,” They hissed, taking a step forward hesitantly. Knowing that one wrong move could set the psychotic vampire off. Their whole body tensed and the tension only grew worse when Quinn lifted his foot from Gabe’s neck, only to slam his foot harshly down on top of the Alpha’s skull. Not enough to kill him but enough for Gabe to feel it and let out an involuntary wince of pain. Tank made a move to rush forward, only to stop at a soft tutting from Quinn.
“Get any closer and I’ll make sure the next one is fatal. Wouldn’t want that for the poor excuse of a mutt that you call an alpha. I mean I sure wouldn’t want to have to clean his brains off of my boot,” As an emphasis he ground his boot down harshly onto Gabe’s head as he spoke. The Alpha groaned, struggling to see as his vision blurred. Despite his lack of sight, his eyes never left the blur that he knew was his child.
Tank froze once again at his words, fighting the urge to protect the man who had practically raised them but also not wanting to just stand there while Quinn had his way. Quinn, on the other hand, removed his foot from Gabe’s skull. Glancing down at it as if he were disgusted with it. Giving the boot a small rough shake, spraying small drops of blood as he did so.
“So, Tank-y, my dear heart. You’ve got two choices,” He began, dropping his foot back to the cold concrete right to the side of Gabe’s head as the wolf faded in and out of consciousness. “Either, I get to kill daddy-o here, or you come with me and we get to have some…fun together. It’s all up to you”
Tank had known Quinn long enough, had seen the damage he can cause, to know that he wasn’t joking. He was more than willing to kill Gabriel, just to get to them. There was only one option they could possibly choose. They wouldn’t be damned if they let Gabe die, damned if they were the reason David would lose his father…their father. Cause that’s what he was, even if Tank would never admit it out loud. Hopefully Sam would forgive them, because if they let Quinn kill Gabe then they knew they would have never been able to forgive theirself.
The tension left their body, defeat replacing the previous emotions as they slumped. Quinn took this as a sign of their choice, stepping away from Gabriel’s prone form. The man on the ground grumbled, a soft ‘no’ escaping his lips as his rattled brain seemed to catch up with the situation. Yet he was helpless to assist, barely able to cling onto his consciousness.
“You can’t do this kid,” He begged, words slurring as he used all of his remaining strength to try and push himself off of the ground once more. Yet he wasn’t strong enough, weakened by his broken bones, head trauma and blood loss. Gabe was honestly lucky to be awake at all, “Just get out of here, run.”
The call of their name, their birth name, not some nickname the pack had given them but their name shook them to their core. Gabe never called them that, it was always ‘Kiddo’ or ‘Tank’ or…some other name. Their name was always reserved for serious situations, which of course this was, but they hated it. It felt like a hand had a vice grip on their heart and was just slowly squeezing it until it burst.
As Quinn stopped in front of them, he extended his hand with an expectant look on his face. He knew that they weren’t going to try anything, knew that they were too scared of their Alpha being murdered. Too foolish to try and rip his head off while he was close enough to kill. They were simply too scared, just like before. Frozen in fear as their loved one bled out in front of them.
So they took his hand, their eyes flickering away from him to stare at the pained look that was etched onto Gabriel’s face. Everything hurt and yet that hadn’t been touched…yet.
“I’m sorry, old man.”
Gabe was too weak, collapsing to the ground once again as he finally lost the will to continue fighting.
***
“No updates, it’s like they’re just completely gone.” Gabriel could barely make out Asher’s voice through the door of his hospital room. Even with the healing magics, Gabriel still needed official medical treatment. During his hospitalization, David had taken over his duties as Alpha. Which included attempting to track Tank and Quinn, both of who had almost completely vanished without a trace. In fact, if Gabriel hadn’t been a witness to the events they would have thought that this was just another of Tank’s infamous disappearing acts.
It had been a few days since the attack and no one had seen hide nor hair of the duo. None of the pack or even Sam, who had continued the search when the pack members needed rest. Honestly, from what Gabe had been told, Sam’s fellow Vampire, Vincent, had been forcing the man to rest and keeping him out of the sun.
He heard the low sigh of his son, responding to Asher's lack of updates. Gabe knew how hard this was on his son. David and Tank were practically siblings, so not only was his father in the hospital but his sibling was missing and probably going to die. Yet, Gabe could see how hard David was putting on a brave face. Pretending like he was in complete control of the situation, despite how helpless he felt on the inside. It brought a sense of pride to Gabriel, knowing that even if something did happen to him, that the Shaw pack would be in good hands. David would be a great Alpha when his time came.
Thinking about that was the only thing keeping Gabe from being sick with worry. He had been the last person to see Tank alive, and from the looks of it…he might be the last. Which was the last thing he wanted, to be responsible for the death of the child he had taken under his wing. He had only wanted the best for them and yet now because he had been caught off guard by a Vamp using dirty tactics…they were suffering for it. Gabe hated that thought, and the fact that he was forced to stay in this bed until he was fully healed so he couldn’t even help the search.
“...Get Milo and Amanda. I’m sending them up to Washington. Check out the family property, see if Quinn got any of their relatives that live up there. Or if they’ve seen either of them. It’s a long shot but it’s the only lead we have.” David ordered, sounding far older and wiser than his father had ever heard him, “Everyone else will need to adjust their search ranges to make up for the losses.”
“Got it!” The affirmation was followed by the sound of rushing footsteps as Asher bolted off to follow his Beta’s orders.
David stared at the door to his father’s room, debating on entering. It had been terrifying to see his father in the state he had been found in, and the fear had only been worsened when Gabe struggled to tell him of Tank’s fate. David hadn’t had a moment to breathe since the attack, not even Angel could get him to sleep and that was not for lack of trying.
His heart ached knowing that he would have to update his father on the situation and their lack of information. David felt like he was failing both his father and one of his closest friends, failing as Alpha before he had even officially gotten the position. He was sitting here with his hands tied, unable to help anyone. He hated this feeling, this helplessness. It was going to drive him mad.
So with a heavy heart, he pulled the door open to the hospital room his father occupied. He needed to fulfill his duties as Beta, which included letting his Alpha know about their lack of results. No matter how hard of a subject it was.
His hesitation would not bring Tank back to them, but Gabriel might have a better idea to bring their lost packmate home once more.

previous chapter // season masterlist // series masterlist
As soon as Layla frees all of you and Nelson returns with the remaining Children of Gabriel, Gabriel finishes the device that he intends to deploy in the pond. He explains the plan to everyone, making sure you all understand what’s going on. Nelson arms all of you, giving Bellamy and Gabriel a rifle, you a pistol, and Octavia a sword. You also make a new thigh holster for your knife, and Bellamy rigs one up for his small skull knife that you gifted him, and all of you change into some of the Children of Gabriel clothes so you’ll blend in better. Within a couple of hours, you are all ready to go and begin your ambush on Sanctum.
You trek through the woods towards Sanctum mostly in silence, with you, Bellamy, and Octavia in the lead. Something about the trip reminds you of searching for Clarke after the Battle of the Dropship, before Finn lost his mind. You hope that this moment is different though, and doesn't end with the slaughter of innocent people in a village, though you guess that only time will tell.
Before you know it, you can hear the quiet hum of the radiation shield up ahead, all of you disappointed to see that the shield is still up and running. You come to a stop right at the edge of the woods, staring at the shield, and behind you, Layla asks, “What do we do now?”
You turn and face her, but your gaze looks over all of them. “Now we wait. Clarke will get it down.”
They all nod, and you turn and stare back at the shield, thinking about how easy it would be for you to walk right through, find your twin, and keep her safe. You step away from the others, into the light bouncing off the planet that Sanctum orbits, listening to the buzz of the shield that quietly taunts you. You hear Gabriel tell everyone to get down and stay out of sight, but you stand frozen in place, the muscles in your legs twitching with the desire to follow your impulse and run into Sanctum. You almost jump out of your skin when you feel a hand clamp down on your shoulder, and you glance over to see Bellamy looking at you, worry etched into his face. “I should be in there helping her.”
On your other side, a hand slides into your own, and you turn to see Octavia looking at you, her hand squeezing yours in comfort. “They know what you look like, and you being there would just give Clarke away.”
Bellamy grabs your other hand, the two Blake siblings keeping you anchored, bringing you back to the side of reason. “Besides, that’s not the plan.”
Your voice is quiet, so low that the siblings both lean closer to hear you over the sound of the shield. “We left them.”
“And that's why they're still alive.”
You turn to Octavia, shaking your head. “You don't know that. You heard Murphy, they’re all in trouble.”
“They’ll be okay.”
Beside you, Bellamy speaks up, sounding just as haunted by the thought that everyone you love is on the other side of that shield and in harm's way. “Everybody always thinks that. The truth is, you're fine until you're not.”
“Murphy said he’d help.”
You and Bellamy both turn to Octavia, giving her matching skeptical looks, both of you thinking of all the ways Murphy has ‘helped’, but only made things worse. “Real comforting.”
“Have some faith.” She smiles and gives your hand a squeeze before dropping it and stepping back, slinking into the bushes to join the others. You look at Bellamy, his eyes already on you, and he smiles, “That look is gone from your face.”
“What look?”
“The ‘I’m about to take off running and do something really stupid’ look.”
You roll your eyes, “It’s gone. For now.”
He smiles at your vague threat before he backs away, towards the bushes, pulling you back with him. You follow, the two of you sinking into the brush with the other Children of Gabriel, hiding out and waiting for the shield to go down.
-
It turns out that the idea you all seem to have about the shield going down in a couple of hours was wrong.
Instead, you all watch the suns rise in the sky and hang overhead, beating down on all of you as you hide in the bushes. You watch at least two guard changes, dozing slightly between them, nothing new happening for a while. It’s only in late afternoon when something changes.
You all sit up a little straighter when you hear the sound of an approaching motorcycle, signaling a third guard change, and you watch closely as the guard hops off the bike and tugs off his helmet to speak to the other guard. “Sector D is all clear. You're free to head back to Sanctum with the Primes.”
“I thought I was gonna miss the namings.”
Tension washes over all of you in the group, and you’re almost surprised the guards can't feel the shift in the air, given your close proximity to them. You glance at Bellamy, both of you silently repeating the most alarming part of that sentence in your head. Namings. The guard passes another piece of information to the other before he hops on his own bike and drives off, and Nelson’s voice is horrified when he whispers, “Naming Day?”
Layla bites back, “They said ‘namings’. Plural.”
Before any of you can get in another word, Gabriel stands from his place behind Octavia, stepping out of the bushes, ignoring her concerned whisper of his name. “Gabriel?”
Gabriel heads straight for the shield and passes through it, crying out in pain and dropping to the ground twitching, pretending that the shield is actually causing him damage. The guard mutters something under his breath that you can’t hear, and then he walks closer to Gabriel, gun slightly raised. As soon as he’s close enough, Gabriel swings a leg out and knocks the man on his back, and you and the Blake siblings all rise, looking at him in shock. “Gabriel, what the hell are you doing?”
You can see the guard’s eyes go wide with shock as he looks up at the feared man. “Gabriel?”
But Gabriel ignores him and glares at him, “You said ‘namings’. How many? Who's coming back?”
“I don't know. All of them, I think.”
Gabriel kicks the man in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him out, and you all run to the edge of the shield, yelling out to him, “Gabriel!”
He starts to pull off his jacket, tossing it to the side as he gives all of you a slightly apologetic look. “I can't have Russell murder more innocent people.”
“I know it's hard but we have to stick to the plan!” Bellamy’s voice rises the longer Gabriel ignores him, trying to get through to him. “Clarke will get the shield down and we use the toxin as a distraction to save our people.”
“Yeah, well, I have a new plan: use our distraction to stop Naming Day.” He tugs the guard’s jacket off and pulls it on, looking at all of you. “Look, I'm sorry, but unlike you, I can't sacrifice the few to save the many.”
He turns and starts to walk towards the bike tucked in between the crops, and this time you don’t hesitate to run through the shield, heading straight for him. Unfortunately, you don't make it to him in time, and he jumps on the bike and leaves you standing in a cloud of dust, looking at his retreating figure as you yell, “Gabriel! Gabriel, come back!”
You stand frozen and watch until he disappears from sight, and then you still stand unmoving, trying to figure out how Gabriel’s change of plans affects the rest of you, how it affects Clarke. You hear Bellamy start to call out to you after a few minutes, but you still don’t turn around, trying to decide if you should just take off running towards Sanctum. Bellamy must sense your impulse to run again, because his voice gets increasingly more worried the longer you ignore him. “La lune, get back on this side of the shield! Please come back over here. We’ll figure this out, okay? Clarke will still get the shield down, and we’ll come in then, just come back.”
You shift a little, the muscles in your legs twitching again, and Bellamy yells, “Natshana! If you leave, I’m coming after you! I’m not a Nightblood, and you saw what happened to Shaw.”
You freeze, the movement in your legs stopping, your desire to keep Bellamy safe stronger than your desire to run. You turn slowly and walk back towards Bellamy and the others, your fiance’s face overcome with relief. He is standing as close to the shield as he can without getting harmed, and as soon as you pass through it, he pulls you into his arms, holding you tight, clearly worried you were about to go where he couldn't follow. You feel a rush of guilt and you hug him back, whispering, “I’m sorry. I just don't want to lose Clarke again.”
He pulls away and nods at you, smoothing back your hair and whispering, “You won’t. But we have no way to contact Clarke and tell her that things have changed. So for now, we do things the way we planned, and hope it all works out in the end.”
You nod and all of you sink back down into the bushes again, despite the fact that the guard you were hiding from is now knocked out, courtesy of Gabriel. Still, you wait, the hours passing slowly, the suns getting lower in the sky and the darkness spreading across Sanctum. You get antsier with each passing hour, and you make a silent plan in your head that once the planet in the sky reaches a certain position, you’re running and leaving the others behind.
Miraculously though, as your deadline rapidly approaches, the hum of the shields stops, and you see all of the towers of the shield dim from their light blue color before going completely dark, the shield now down and ready to be crossed. You turn to Bellamy with a smile and he smiles back. “Told you she’d get it down.”
“Pretty sure I was the one that told you.”
The Children of Gabriel all stare at the downed shield in shock, and then Nelson abruptly stands and lifts his weapon into the air before yelling, “Death to Primes!”
Everyone stands and lifts their weapons too, repeating, “Death to Primes!”
They take off running, and you, Bellamy, and Octavia all share a look before you jump up and follow, blending in with the crowd as you run towards Sanctum. As you grow closer, the chanting stops, everyone aware that stealth is the way to go, and you creep up the hill as quickly as you can, bent low in the hopes that no one will see you coming. As you round the last corner and the stairs come into view, you see a group of people standing there, Clarke at the front, alive and still in one piece.
You jog over and the two of you share a hug, and when you pull away, your gaze shifts to the people beside her. On one side, Gaia and Miller stand, smiles on their faces, and Miller nods in greeting. You nod back before turning to Clarke’s other side, eyes landing on Echo, grinning at you, clearly happy to see you alive and well. The two of you exchange a hug, pulling away so she can hug Bellamy too, and as they separate, Clarke looks all of you over. “Look, I hate to cut the moment short, but Russell told the people that it was a false alarm. They're not evacuating, we have no distraction.”
Echo adds, “The rest of our friends are still in trouble, and we don't have the people to fight our way through.”
“We're not here to fight. We're here to liberate.”
Layla chimes in from beside you, “Bellamy's right, and the only weapon we need for that is truth.”
“They won't believe us just because we tell them the truth.”
You look to Echo, evident from the expression on her face that a plan is forming. “What are you thinking?”
“I'm thinking Ryker helped us start this, his mother will finish it.”
She motions to the hooded figure between Clarke and Gaia, the one that you’re just now noticing. Clarke reaches into her pocket and pulls out a mind drive, holding it out to you. “They think I'm Josephine, so it can't be me. Everyone is gathered just outside of the palace.”
“This is Ryker?” Clarke nods her head in confirmation, and you take the drive from her before turning to the others. “I’ll take Priya into the crowd and tell them the truth. She backs it up, and we go from there. The rest of you will sneak up into Sanctum and stay hidden until we see how this is going to go.”
Everyone nods, understanding their place, and Bellamy grabs your hand. “I’m going with you.”
You smile at him, hoping he was going to say that, not sure that you want to handle Priya on your own. “Okay, everyone move into position.”
They all break apart and head into Sanctum, Clarke giving you a lingering look as she goes, and you give her a reassuring smile in return. Once you and Bellamy are the only two left with Priya, you pull the hood off her head. “Did you get all that?”
She hesitates, and you hold up the mind drive for her to see. “You tell the people the truth, or Ryker dies forever. Do you understand?”
“Yes.”
“Good, let’s go.”
You and Bellamy each grab one of her arms, guiding her up the stairs of Sanctum as she tries to fight against the two of you, and once you reach the top of the stairs, you’re quickly noticed. One of the guards near the base of the stairs yells, “We've got movement on the far stairs!”
You see her lift her gun to peer through the scope, and the second she sees a Prime held between you and Bellamy she yells, “Priya Prime! Don't shoot!”
The crowd turns towards you, and you and Bellamy each lift the hand not held onto Priya in surrender as you shout to the gathered crowd, “The power is out, the shield is down, but we are not here to fight. We have something to tell you that will be hard to hear, but it's the truth. The Primes told you that we're your enemy, but they lied!”
The crowd starts to murmur and your turn to look at Bellamy, aware that he is always the best with speeches. He adds, “They lied about everything! They're not gods, they don't become one with their hosts. They kill them. They steal your bodies so they can live forever.”
The murmuring grows louder, the truth of the gods they worship shocking everyone. You nudge Priya, flashing the mind drive in your hand, “Tell them.”
She hesitates for a second, her eyes locked on the drive, and then she takes a breath to steady herself before backing you up. “It’s true! We're not divine. We survive because we have technology, but we need your bodies to do it. Delilah's not one with me. She's dead, killed so that I could return. It's all a lie.”
The crowd’s murmurs turn to yelling as their anger starts to grow, but you ignore it and hand Priya the mind drive, her part now done. Before the crowd can get unruly though, Russell walks out of the palace and up to the microphone, a small contraption in his hand. “I am disappointed in you, Priya. I'm disappointed in all of you. According to our adjustment protocol...”
As soon as you hear the words, you remember Gabriel's story to you and Clarke, and you look at Bellamy with panic, your voice quiet. “Believers killing non believers.”
“What?”
You don't get to answer him, because Russell’s voice rises to be heard above everything, “Non believers must be purified!”
He twists the device and throws it into the crowd, and you and Bellamy instantly duck as it goes off with a flash, a cloud of green toxin quickly shooting out into the middle of the crowd. The people erupt into screams of pain and paranoia, and you turn to Bellamy and say, “Red sun toxin, we need to get to the others.”
He nods and you form a human chain with him and Priya, Bellamy in the lead, you in the middle, and Priya in the back. Bellamy guides you and tugs you through the crowd that is already resorting to chaos, and in the midst of the scuffle, Priya’s grip is pulled from your own. You look back in alarm, catching only one glimpse of her before the crowd surrounds her, and there’s nothing you can do but watch her disappear. The crowd is already growing violent, and you and Bellamy are both still susceptible to the toxin until you get your dose of the antitoxin. Going back into the crowd while you’re undosed is not an ideal plan.
You finally reach the others and Layla tosses you each an antitoxin, which you inhale quickly, thankful that you’re safe for now. All of you stand watching the growing chaos, the people already fighting and resorting to violence, and Layla turns to you with a concerned look. “Where the hell is Priya?”
“The crowd got between us.” You start to walk back towards it, ready to search for her now, but at least three sets of arms grab you and pull you back. “No, you can’t.”
“But-”
“No.'' Clarke's voice is firm, letting you know this is not negotiable, and you nod, letting her know you understand. Bellamy, Clarke, and Layla all drop their arms, satisfied that you’re staying put, and as you turn back to watch the crowd, you hear Miller shout, “Jax?”
You turn to him, his eyes locked on something in the distance. “Jax!”
You follow his gaze, watching as guards file Madi, Raven, and Jackson into the palace and out of sight. Clarke watches on in horror, her eyes welling up with tears, and Miller tries to run towards his boyfriend, prepared to risk his own life to save his boyfriend’s life. But Octavia stops him, holding him back, voice desperate. “You can't!”
He rips himself from her grip, looking at her with disgust. “I do not take orders from you anymore!”
Octavia looks at her brother for help, and he immediately jumps in, blocking Miller’s path. “Miller, she's right. You'll never make it past the guards.”
Clarke deadpans, “No, but I can.”
You turn to look at her, her gaze already locked on you, waiting for your approval, and this is something you know you have to give her. Madi’s life is at stake, and Clarke is the only person that can get in that room, no questions asked. You nod, letting her know you agree, and Gaia steps up beside her. “I'm going with you.”
“Gaia-” She cuts Clarke’s protest off, “They'll think I'm Josephine's guard. It's Madi, I'm going.”
Clarke nods, before turning to Miller. “Miller, stay here and protect the others.”
He looks at her, hesitant, clearly wanting to tag along with them, and your twin senses his turmoil and reassures him, “We’ll get Jackson back, trust me.”
He nods, and Clarke is about to ask all of you what you’re going to do, when Octavia’s shaky voice floats over to you. “Uh, guys? We've got a problem.”
When you turn to face her, you see that part of the crowd has now shifted, their gazes turning on you. They stalk over to you slowly, the glint of murder in their eyes, and you turn to your twin in alarm, pushing her away from you slightly, “Go!”
“Murderers! Kill the invaders!”
You try to ignore the approaching group and their bone chilling chants as Clarke grabs your hand, “What will you do?”
You shake your head, “Still working on that part, but there’s not enough time! Just go!”
She hesitates for another half second before she turns and runs off, Gaia with her, and Miller lifts his gun and points it at the approaching crowd that is closing in on all of you quickly. Bellamy pushes down the barrel of his gun, getting him to lower it. “Miller, weapons down. We don't want to kill them, okay?”
Miller lowers his gun, as you all draw closer together, facing in different directions so you can watch each other from all sides. As the angry crowd seems to grow even angrier, Layla watches them in alarm, “Well, they want to kill us.”
You turn to Bellamy, glancing at him quickly so you can also keep an eye on the crowd. “If we start fighting, it will turn into a bloodbath!”
“We need to take cover and wait it out.”
Over his shoulder, Echo seems to get an idea, and she calls out, “Follow me!”
None of you hesitate to follow her when she runs off, aware that you don’t have many options at this point. She leads you to a building that looks like a shipping container, one that locks from the inside, and you all file inside and pull the doors closed behind you, swinging the bar down to lock it. You back away from the door as the crowd starts to bang on it, trying to shrink away from the source of the chaos, but the banging starts up on all sides, sending a chill down your spine. Your entire group huddles in the center of the room, standing as close as you can, watching the door shake and move with the force of the people outside. But there’s nothing any of you can do, no way you can stop it, your only option now to sit back and hope for the best. Hope that you aren't just a bleeding fish in a circle of angry sharks or a rabbit caught in a trap, stalked by a hungry bear.
You just have to hope that all of you aren't about to become martyrs in someone else's religion.

The Walking Dead Season 11: Who Lives and Who Dies
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Walking Dead article contains major spoilers.
Many of us thought this day would never come, but as all of The Walking Dead‘s characters know very well, everything that has a beginning has an end. Season 11 of AMC’s flagship zombie drama will be the show’s final run of episodes, but fortunately it’s an expanded season. Fans will get 24 more episodes, broken up into three parts, before the show — and a few of its characters — meets its end.
And it wouldn’t be a season of The Walking Dead without a few big deaths along the way. As we have in past seasons, we’ve made some predictions regarding who will bite the bullet in season 11. For the final time, here are the characters we think are on the chopping block and the ones we believe will live on to remember them after the credits roll on the series finale.
Keep track of all The Walking Dead season 11 deaths below:
DEAD
Roy (C. Thomas Howell)
Prediction: Dies
Result: Dead
Roy took an arrow to the face during a Reaper ambush.
Gage (Jackson Pace)
Prediction: Dies
Result: Dead
Gage stabbed himself in the chest twice, attempting to kill himself before being devoured by walkers in a train car. Zombie Gage was then put down with a shot to the head by Gabriel.
ALIVE
Pope (Ritchie Coster)
Prediction: Dies
I’ve never seen a guy more likely to die in the first half of a Walking Dead season than Pope, the leader of the show’s newest villains, the Reapers, who themselves strike me as filler villains for Maggie and Daryl while the real story at the Commonwealth develops. I assume the Reapers will be out of the picture by the time Alexandria needs to turn its attention to the much larger settlement in the second part of season 11.
Pamela Milton (Laila Robins)
Prediction: Dies
The Governor of the Commonwealth is poised to be the final season’s big bad. A bureaucrat hellbent on preserving the way things were before the zombie outbreak, Milton even established a caste system within her settlement to propagate class inequality. She represents everything that was wrong with the world before the fall of society and the complete anti-thesis of how the Alexandrians do things.
If you’ve read the comics, you know how Pamela’s story ends in Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard’s story, but the TV series is known for taking sharp left turns when you least expect it. One thing we know for sure is that the Alexandrians will have to reckon with Pamela’s rule before the series finale.
Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton)
Prediction: Dies
A Commonwealth acolyte and bookkeeper of the community, Lance is one of Milton’s chief personnel, helping her run the settlement’s government. He’s also seems like cannon fodder to me as things heat up between the Commonwealth and Alexandria, an early death that could spark a conflict between the two factions.
Mercer (Michael James Shaw)
Prediction: Lives
Mercer is loyal to the Commonwealth but there are more sides to him than his distinct orange military armor lets on. He’s one of the most interesting characters of the comics final storyline, and it would be a shame to lose him before we can see his story through.
Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari)
Prediction: Lives
Elijah made his debut in one of the most WTF moments of season 10 when he rescued Aaron and Alden from the Whisperers. For weeks after his reveal, people wondered who the man in the steal mask could be. When he returned in the final six episodes of season 10, the show just kind of moved on without fleshing him out, which is unfortunate since he looks so cool! I’m going to assume that the series is saving a big Elijah-focused episode for later in the season and that he’s too awesome to kill off. You don’t just introduce a blade expert in a steel mask for no reason!
Virgil (Kevin Carroll)
Prediction: Dies
Virgil has a lot to atone for after kidnapping and drugging Michonne in season 10. At the end of the season, we learn that he’s found a disoriented Connie in the woods. His redemption arc will likely include helping Connie survive on the walker-infested road back to Alexandria. Will that eventually involve a final sacrifice to save her?
Connie (Lauren Ridloff)
Prediction: Lives
Connie’s been through a hell of a lot in the past season. After surviving an explosion, a cave-in, and an entire walker horde, Connie’s made it out of Whisperer territory but is still a ways from home. Expect part of season 11’s story to be about Connie’s odyssey and ultimate reunion with her sister and Daryl.
Lydia (Cassady McClincy)
Prediction: Lives
Lydia was at the center of Alexandria’s conflict with the Whisperers for a season and a half. With Alpha and Beta defeated, and their faction all but obliterated, I have to wonder what Lydia has left to do on the show. That said, the writers have continued to find interesting ways to explore this character, and someone has to live on to lead the next generation of Alexandrians. I think Lydia is in it for the long haul.
Magna (Nadia Hilker)
Prediction: Dies
Magna was sidelined pretty quickly after her introduction. While a reunion with Yumiko seems like the logical direction for her story, The Walking Dead universe is a cruel one. She could be headed toward tragedy.
Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura)
Prediction: Lives
In season 11, Yumiko is inheriting a major storyline from the comics that likely means she’ll survive the final 24 episodes of the series. Of course, the TV show could always alter that storyline to bring a tragic end to Yumiko’s story.
Luke (Dan Fogler)
Prediction: Dies
It’s pretty wild that Luke has survived as long as he has. A man of the arts hardly has a place in the cruel world of this show, but he has clumsily persevered thus far. But if the writers are planning an especially bloody final season, I’d put Luke on the short list.
Kelly (Angel Theory)
Prediction: Lives
Kelly has been one of the best late additions to the show. It would suck for her to finally reunite with her sister only to meet an unexpected end.
Alden (Callan McAuliffe)
Prediction: Dies
Another candidate for the chopping block. I’m surprised he’s even made it this long.
King Ezekiel (Khary Payton)
Prediction: Lives
Yes, Ezekiel has thyroid cancer, and were he in Alexandria, that would mean his inevitable death. But the Commonwealth is a different ballgame, an advanced settlement in the comics that will likely have the doctors and surgical resources needed to save him. That is, if Ezekiel isn’t caught up in Milton’s caste system.
Jerry (Cooper Andrews)
Prediction: Dies
I love Jerry and don’t want to see the tank with a heart of gold go. But if the season needs an early death that pulls at the heart strings, Jerry is a prime candidate for a midseason casualty.
Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam)
Prediction: Lives
Gabriel has evolved so much since his debut in season 5, becoming one of Alexandria’s key leaders. He’s come so far and even survived longer than his comic book counterpart. I’d hate to see him go so close to the end. So I’m just going to say he lives.
Aaron (Ross Marquand)
Prediction: Lives
Aaron seemed destined to die seasons ago, too kind and trusting to survive this long. But here he is, still fighting and surviving. He’s lost the man he loves, his arm, and many friends — and it’s all hardened him into a war machine. It’d be a shame for him to die now.
Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos)
Prediction: Lives
In the comics, Rosita’s head ended up on a pike during the Whisperer war, but her TV counterpart has persevered. It’s difficult to predict where her story goes at this point, but since she survived her comic book death, I assume the show’s writers have something in mind for her in season 11.
Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt)
Prediction: Lives
Eugene has become an unlikely protagonist going into season 11. From a mulleted coward hiding behind his intelligence so that others protect him to the Alexandrian leading his people to the Commonwealth, Eugene is central to the plot of the final season, and I think that means he’s safe. Plus, Eugene is hilarious, and The Walking Dead can always use a little comedic relief.
Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming)
Prediction: Lives
Result: Lived
NO.
Rick Grimes Jr. (Antony Azor)
Prediction: Lives
Nah.
Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)
Prediction: Lives
I think The Walking Dead is going to end with one last big death, one last sacrifice before the credits roll on the massive zombie drama. Like Rick in the comics, one of the major characters of the TV series will likely become the martyr who inspires change inside the Commonwealth’s walls. Negan would probably be on the short list for this big moment from the comics, a villain finally choosing to do the right thing for a cause bigger than himself, a fitting conclusion to his seasons-long redemption arc. But Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently teased that he was already having discussions with AMC about a potential Negan spinoff after The Walking Dead has concluded, which means the former Savior leader is safe…unless the Negan show is a prequel.
Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride)
Prediction: Lives
This one’s an easy one: Melissa McBride is getting her own spinoff that will follow her character after The Walking Dead series finale. That means she’s safe.
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus)
Prediction: Lives
Norman Reedus is joining McBride for that spinoff, so he’s safe, too. The actor even told us what the Daryl and Carol show will be about.
Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan)
Prediction: Dies
That leaves The Walking Dead with one logical choice to pick up Rick’s final storyline from the comic. It’s Maggie. It also makes a bit of sense from a logistical standpoint. Lauren Cohan has already left The Walking Dead universe once before to pursue other small and big screen projects. She’s back for the final 24 episodes of the series as a welcome legacy character but that doesn’t mean Cohan wants to stick around for longer than that. I assume Cohan’s returned to bring closure to her character, not to prepare for a spinoff.
Let us know your predictions for The Walking Dead season 11 in the comments!

Do you think it's a good idea that they're introducing new characters in the last season like Nikki and the other guy. I feel like the ones we have now need more screen time to wrap up their stories. And he did say that in season 4 or5 a guy from one of the coalition would be very important yet they weren't
Yes. I think it’s a good idea that they are introducing new characters in the last season.
They are needed for the umbrella plot that is our seasonal storyline.
And the even larger plot that is about the apocalypse and humanity’s rebirth.
While we have our main characters, the secondary and tertiary characters are needed to help tell their story.
This idea that secondary or tertiary characters aren’t needed, and they either shouldn’t be there or should be main characters is not a good idea for telling good stories.
The 100 has an expansive world that requires a large cast of characters. The main characters are Clarke and Bellamy, Octavia, Murphy, Raven, Monty, Jasper, Finn, Wells, Abby, Kane, Jaha
The strike throughs are the mains whose stories have wrapped up.
We also have a handful of secondary characters who have stories that are in the midst of wrapping up. Madi, Echo, Emori, Gaia, Miller, Jordan, Diyoza, Hope, Jackson. There are too many of those who have ended their stories for me to give you a strikethrough of them.
And there are the antagonists, some who have moved into the secondary category. Russel and Sheidheda seem to be the only ones left of those who are still alive.
But. I mean. WHY have all those characters if all we care about is the mains’ storylines and character development????
WELL I’LL TELL YOU.
Because you use the secondary and tertiary characters to TELL the story of the mains. Antagonist or supporting. Lets link up some minor/added even secondary characters to the mains whose stories they tell and see what happens.
Clarke Griffin: Jake Griffin, Abby Griffin, Wells Jaha, Finn Collins, Bellamy Blake, Jasper and Monty, Raven, Charlotte, Anya, Lincoln, Maya, Dante, Lxa, Roan, Titus, Luna, Niylah, Gaia, Octavia, Echo, Murphy, Emori, ALIE, Becca, Madi, Diyoza, McCreary, Shaw, Kara Cooper, Russell, Josephine, Gabriel.
Bellamy Blake: Octavia Blake, Clarke Griffin, Wells Jaha, Finn Collins, John Murphy, Atom, Charlotte, Raven Reyes, Thelonious Jaha, Lincoln, Miller, Monroe, Kane, Gustus, Maya, Echo, Lovejoy, Dante, Cage, Jasper Jordan, Monty Green, Harper MacIntyre, Pike, Bryan, Riley, Kara Cooper, Indra, Gaia, Josephine, Gabriel.
Octavia Blake: Bellamy Blake, Jasper, Monty, Finn, Atom, Lincoln, Clarke, Indra, Kane, Pike, Illian, Echo, Roan, Gaia, Jaha, Gaia, Kara Cooper, Diyoza, Gabriel, Hope.
Raven Reyes: Abby, Finn, Clarke, Bellamy, Monty, Jasper, Sinclair, Wick, Kane, ALIE, Becca, Luna, Echo, Emori, Murphy, Harper, Monty, McCreary, Shaw, Diyoza, Madi, Ryker, Josephine, Russell, Simone, Jackson, Sheidheda, Gaia
John Murphy: Bellamy, Clarke, Charlotte, Wells, Raven, Jaha, Emori, Ontari, Titus, Kane, Indra, Abby, Monty, Echo, McCreary, Madi, Josephine, Russell
Monty Green: Jasper, Clarke, Bellamy, Raven, Harper, Miller, Dante, Dr Tsing, Maya, Mr Vie, Hannah, Pike, Kane, Octavia, Jordan.
Jasper Jordan: Monty, Clarke, Bellamy, Finn, Raven, Octavia, Maya, Abby, Jaha, Harper
Abby Griffin: Clarke, Raven, Kane, Jaha, Jake, Cece, Murphy, Bellamy, Jasper, Jackson, ALIE, Simone, Josephine, Russell, Vinson, McCreary
Marcus Kane: Abby, Jaha, Bellamy, Octavia, Miller, Harper, Lincoln, Pike, Lxa, Indra, Murphy, ALIE, Diyoza, Vinson, Raven
Thelonius Jaha: Wells, Abby, Kane, Murphy, Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia, ALIE, Ontari, Emori, Jasper
I can’t even continue. It’s too many. Not including the tertiary characters and I for SURE missed a lot. In order to tell these complex stories, we need a lot of supporting characters.
The supporting character SUPPORT the stories of the main characters. A character like Emori helps us understand Murphy, Jaha, Raven, Echo, Bellamy, Josephine... and is a lynchpin in understanding the worldbuilding, morality, themes, and also acts to TURN the plot. Without Emori, Clarke would not have tested the nightblood on herself.
It isn’t bad writing that Emori is a supporting character. It’s necessary for her the story as well as for the other characters.
We also have a tendency to go through antagonists pretty quickly even if they become friends along the way. If an antagonist died, we’d need a new antagonist. If an antagonist is redeemed and joins our heroes (like Bellamy, Kane, Diyoza, or Gabriel,) we’d still need a new antagonist.
And then we have characters who act as a shadow or mirror to our mains.
For instance. Clarke has MULTIPLE shadows and mirrors and foils. Bellamy, Dante, Maya, Lxa, Murphy, Emori, Becca, Diyoza, Josephine, some of whom were antagonists allowing us to compare and contrast, some of whom are allies, where we can see similarities or differences in situation or choice. I am this: you are that: because of this you can see that. Sometimes the character dies, and sometimes their foil becomes no longer relevant as the characters develop in different directions. LIke Emori had us comparing Clarke’s being loved with Emori’s being abandoned, also HAVING love (with Murphy) while Clarke was alone, and eventually led to Clarke taking her experiment. Actually, Memori and Bellarke may still be up for more comparisons. So that maybe isn’t done yet.
BUT we’re missing the characters who can act as foils next season. So we’re gonna need new ones. Never mind the antagonists. ALSO, we’re gonna need characters to make the new worlds seem real. People LIVING in them. AND we need characters who can take us to those last corners of our plot.
You cannot write a long term, involved story like this without having a rich cast of characters. And with seasons that need to reinvent themselves and expand on our worlds, we need NEW characters.
This concept that we want to keep the story only for our beloved characters is a bit stingy and controlling. You NEED new characters to keep going.
First of all, Raven keeps losing her love interest. If she’s getting one for her endgame, we need to meet him. None of our current characters will do. THEN we need to really meet Hope, who has been around since s5 but not born yet. She’s also a symbol of ‘hope’ and the future, which is our main goal. THEN there’s sheidheda. We need to really meet him. Or get to know him. THEN there’s the mess on sanctum. We need to meet the sanctumites more than we have. And the eligius prisoners have been around since s5 and they’re being woken. We need too see the end of that story so we need new characters to do it. So hope, sheidheda, eligius prisoners and sanctumites are hanging stories we need new people to understand. And that’s not even counting the new worlds and stories we’re getting next season to take us back to the apocalypse and the rebirth of humanity.
I don’t think it’s a ‘good idea’ to introduce new characters. I think it’s a NECESSITY.

20. Leave Octavia, Kane and an entire grounder village to die by not warning them about a missile.
21. Make sure her mom was out of danger because of selfishness.
22. Be foolish enough to trust Lexa to keep her side of the deal when they join forces against Mount Weather.

39. Leave a stranger to wander freely in Arkadia without suspecting he might blow it up.
40. Play with Nylah's feelings.
41. Betray Trikru with an alliance with Azgeda.

Let’s talk about my OCs
Okay, so I have three sets of ocs. all from three different books I have written. this will be from the first book, The Lost Five. (and there are eight ocs mentioned here)
Brief summary:
Valentina Lowe’s grandparents were kicked off the throne once they accidentally killed one too many babies. And now Valentina wants her crown back.
Snippet
Valentina Hall - main character
This lovely lady right here is anything but a lovely lady, depending on the day. Can she act like one? Yes, but only because her mother forced her to walk like a queen the moment she could.
Other things:
Magic - yes. what is it? she can manipulate herself and those around her to an extent. (when the magic is man-made (or rather, king and queen made) there are anomalies, Val’s anomaly is the control over fire (original, I know)
Family - three little sisters, two parents, two grandparents, and none of them are alive for too long
Roselyn Martinez
If Val wasn’t the mc, Rose would be. The next in line for the throne, and all but ignored by her parents apart from when she does something wrong.
Other things:
Magic - no. but one hell of a memory.
Family - one little brother, two parents who also don’t live for too long, but live longer than Val’s
Roger Davis
I love him. He deserved better, I could have given him better but PAIN. I didn’t have to make his parents homophobic but I did anyway. I may be a horrible person.
Other things:
Magic - no
Family - two parents that are notably mentioned twice throughout the whole book, both live
Caitlyn Shaw
The only girl, apart from her mother, in a family of fifteen (including her). The amount of people who loved her in that family could be counted on one finger. But I love her, and so does everyone else.
Other things:
Magic - no
Family - ten older brothers, two younger brothers, two parents, all but one live (I think, it’s been a while
Abigail Lee
Gonna be honest, I don’t remember much about her, but I remember enough to tell you that she has a complicated relationship with her sister, and can do anything she puts her mind to. Like everyone could be sitting on their asses waiting for a plan to drop from the heavens, and she would be halfway through enacting her own.
Other things:
Magic - no
Family - older sister, who does not live too long
Emma Peters
This girl is very suspicious of anything and everything, especially anything to do with Val, despite being the one who helped her when it could have gone an entirely different way. And her suspicion only grows.
Other things:
Magic - no
Family - dead
Gabriel Martinez
This bad boy is the antagonist of the book. Does his last name look familiar? Good, because he is the younger brother of Rose, and takes up the role of next in line when she abdicates, and antagonises Val into almost everything she does.
Other things:
Magic - depends on where you are in the book
Family - older sister Roselyn Martinez, and two parents who don’t last long despite his best efforts
#fun fact: this one book used to be a trilogy and yet is still not over 100000 words#good for me#writing#mine#my ocs#when I asked for your input I really meant it ya know#any questions and my ask box is open#the lost five

This might be a wild assumption, but all TV shows are kind of going for insanity in their plots, so I'm going to throw it out there anyway.... What if a person CAN'T die on Sanctum? Because we saw Josephine's mother get killed by her father, then he came out and slit Josephine's throat to kill her, too. So, what if their bodies can die, but their mind is left behind and stored somehow? Not just the original family because they found out some way to do it through science or anything like that.
pt. 2 So, what if Shaw and Clarke are still technically out there, in some sense, they just don’t have a body anymore?
That’s a fun theory, but I don’t think so. Shaw is really, really dead because Jordan Bolger got a job on a different show. (Though I do wonder if they had him on set long enough for a Raven eclipse-induced psychosis scene.)
Also, if no one can die, then the Primes have no power. Their power is in their reanimation. Plus, we’ve seen in 6x04 that their mind are stored in “Mind Drives” (the chip we saw), which are precursors to the Flame. It took Gabriel 20 years to perfect the serum- which is what’s needed in addition to the Mind Drive to transfer a consciousness. I assume this technology could contain any mind, but obviously we know to receive the chip you have to be a nightblood.
We don’t know the specifics yet, but I’m guessing the process to store a mind is complicated and took the Primes a while, and the Primes of course will only store their own minds (because if they store anyone elses, they give up their power).
Also, we know that the Sanctum people are mourning Rose, who died in 6x04. And it seems final, like they definitely think she’s dead-dead.
I think there’s just too much evidence to the contrary to assume no one can die.
On the flip side, Clarke is absolutely not dead. Because she didn’t “die” in the sense of stabbed or irradiated or any of that; her mind was taken over. I do believe that the Primes think when they take over a consciousness that they kill the host, but in reality, the mind is just suppressed (at least, that’s my current spec). Under this theory, that would mean anyone who’s mind has been taken over, like Clarke or Delilah, is still alive somewhere within their own head. As for physical death though, I don’t think there’s coming back from that.

6x06, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Overall this episode was fine.
The Good
I really think everyone is giving such top-notch performances this season - Richard Harmon and Bob Morley were especially good this episode, I loved their scenes together. Lola Flannery really showed off something beyond “I’m The Kid on This Show” this episode, and that was delightful and also heart-wrenching. Tati Gabrielle’s reaction to Madi banishing Gaia was the perfect blend of shocked, hurt, and scared. Tasya Teles had me scared and turned on when she was interrogating Jade. Eliza Taylor (I’m just gonna keep calling her that for consistency’s sake) was, once again, a treat to watch as Josephine, and as Josephine-being-Clarke.
Echo continues to be the best. She was smarter, fiercer, and more proactive than anyone else this episode. The difference between her mercy-killing the rooted guard and interrogating Jade by using those same crazy trees was chilling and so impactful. I loved watching her cold fury as she realized that Bellamy was in danger, and her horrified realization that “that’s not Clarke.”
The reveal of Clarke still being “alive” in some form, in Josephine’s unconscious mind, was well-done, even if we all knew Clarke wasn’t really dead. Her being locked away in the Skybox, surrounded by memories of her loved ones, was a really cool and effective image. It makes me excited for the next episode, because I think it will be really fun to see her and Josephine duke it out for control. Who’s betting we get some real angsty scenes coming up, after this big struggle, where Clarke has to convince everyone she’s not actually dead and has regained control? How often do you think EJT will have to bounce back and forth between Clarke and Josephine within the same scene? How “multiple personality” is this gonna get?
The Bad
Raven’s “I haven’t [done anything I regret to survive]” line fell flat, unfortunately. Although Raven has very little blood directly on her own hands, she has contributed to several of the most serious crimes in this show’s history. She blew up the dam at Mount Weather, which forced the population to Level 5, which put them in place to be irradiated by Clarke, Bellamy, and Monty. She (unsuccessfully) tortured Lincoln in s1 to get the antidote when Finn was poisoned. She’s the reason Spacekru had to go to the Ring, and indirectly is also the reason Clarke was left behind. Whether or not Raven does regret these things is one thing, but I think most of us can agree that she probably should regret at least a few things. She’s not at the same level as Clarke, Bellamy, or Octavia, but she’s far from innocent. It made the following scenes where she confronted Ryker about being a body-snatcher feel a bit unearned (theme of the season yet again, lol). It almost would’ve played better if she had admitted that even she had done some questionable things, but that she found what the Primes do untenable even still. I love her, I’m not nearly so salty at her as most of the fandom is right now, but I do wish the writers had remembered that she isn’t perfect, and has done things that she realistically should regret. Conversely, maybe Raven’s hyper-defensiveness comes from her sensitivity over Shaw’s death. A line cut from the script indicated that she blames herself. Perhaps this self-righteousness is her way of keeping her guilt at bay.
Part of me really wants to love the little squad forming up between Octavia, Diyoza, and Xavier (and now Gaia, probably), but something about the time anomaly calling to them, and the way both women were compelled to doodle the Fibonacci sequence via nautilus shells, just felt kinda...dumb...to me. I don’t really know where they’re going with that whole storyline. I do enjoy the banter and dynamic between them, but their “mission” is not particularly engaging to me. We know from the trailers that there will be an Octavia versus Blodreina moment at some point this season. I always assumed it would be via some sort of NDE, like with Murphy and Clarke, related to the hell visions they’ve both had. If she actually goes into a time warp to literally fight her past self...that might be too much for me. That might be my limit. That’s like, too silly and too on-the-nose, even for this show.
The Ugly
This episode was so “meh” for me overall. It was fine, but it very much so felt like a filler between this moment and the next. It’s interesting, because I expected this season to spend a lot more time on the whole “they’re bodysnatchers and they’re hiding it” thing, but everything is pretty much out in the open at this point. Bellamy has decided not to seek revenge, the Primes are learning how to make nightbloods, and everyone knows exactly who the Primes are and how they’ve achieved immortality. Then the plot pivoted to the next obvious conflict - that Clarke is still alive on some level, and she’s gonna try to fight her way out/back in control. It feels like we’re leaping through plot points this season, burning as fast as possible through potential storylines. It’s a small setting and a small cast, so it makes sense on some level that certain choices are going to cancel out other avenues. But I just wanted...more? As much as I loved the scenes between Bellamy and Murphy, it seemed like the reveal that the Primes are freaking immortal murderroyals wasn’t as much of a shocker as it should have been. These people have been through a lot, but time and death played by very specific rules on Earth, and the Earthlings all seem relatively chill about that not being the case on this planet.
Emori is tragically under-utilized this season. Why is she staying so far away from Murphy? Why was she little more than a glorified messenger this episode? I really wanted more between her and Murphy, given that Murphy is currently playing the dark side pretty heavily, and it feels like Emori would have an opinion on that - any opinion. As per usual, this season is severely lacking in meaningful character moments, and the ones we have gotten have felt rushed and anticlimactic. There’s been so much plotplotplot. Memori is only one aspect of the show that has suffered because of it. We got quite a few good moments from other characters and dynamics this episode, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some better Memori scenes and moments in the future.

The 100 - 6x04: The face behind the glass review and predictions.
Before we get into the specifics, I’m a little scared of the rehashing of old narratives that comes to surface in this episode especially. Not sure how I feel about all the parallels. In my trailer analysis, I did point out the fact that it does not seem that much different than previous seasons: There are no good guys, we kill them so that we can live and blah, blah, blah. Even so, I’m interested and invested to see what types of unique twists and turns this story will throw at us. Jason Rothenberg, you better not disappoint.
The face behind the glass written by Charmaine DeGrate and directed by Tim Scanlan, who is known for directing the sex scenes on the show. Dead giveaway. Not my favorite so far, but a lot of things happened that has me excited for the rest of the season.
Is there a better way to open an episode than Diyoza joking with her unborn child? It’s no secret she’s in my top 5 favorite characters and keeps climbing the charts. So, the Sanctumites offer her a deal: Save Rose and we’ll take care of your baby, which she takes, to offer her child a life and it’s something to do other than trying to survive. But in known Diyoza fashion on condition of a gun and a bike.
Then, Simone begs Russel to cancel naming day on account of spies inside the compund. They’ve already been deprived of three primes (Kaylee’s family) and Rose. Pushing them towards extinction at an alarming rate and it once again becomes obvious that Clarke will become Josephine, yet I’m now intrigued by Madi. The cultish way in which these people worship the primes are uncanny and wayward. But then again all cults are weird. I don’t believe in the divinity of the primes either.
Russel disagrees by saying: “If we cancel, Gabriel wins.” Last week I thought that Gabriel will be brought back to life in one of the hosts, but I think there’s something else going on there. It’s clear now that Gabriel and his children are against the revival of the primes, bringing about the question: How has he survived all these years?
Priya and Jordan share some sweet intimate moments where he tells her he feels guilty for becoming another taunting face behind the glass. Which was necessary to show he’s still grieving his parents even while having fun. Her referral to this line later before she becomes a prime is crucial though, meaning there might be a possibility for her to come back.
The four pillars of Sanctum: Repent, Renew, Rejoice, Rebirth. Accentuating rebirth very literally. We know from episode two that Russel Lightbourne does not believe in God, but by killing a person for no reason other than so that someone you love can live is playing god in the cruelest way imaginable.
Embracing their traditions, Clarke decides to repent for her sins. She tries to apologize to Raven who won’t have any of it and compares her to Octavia. For me, the biggest difference between Clarke and Octavia is the remorse she feels. She knows what she did was wrong and she’s trying to make up for it. Therefore she deserves forgiveness. I wonder how Raven will react to Clarke’s death?
Gabriel? Who the f#@k are Gabriel and his children?
As I said earlier, the old man is definitely Gabriel. We don’t know if he’s dead or alive. It can’t be that he lives within a computer because then his existence would be known.
My guess is the split within Sanctum came recently (using the term loosely). Gabriel had to be one of the 12 primes since he came with them and his blood was also altered. Meaning his conscience was also transferred into a host. He was against the hostile takeover of innocent bodies and decided to rebel by saving the hosts.
If this happened sixty odd years ago, Gabriel could still be alive somewhere (perhaps in hiding due to a failed conviction) and old. Very, very old. I’m not sure whether his followers are literally his children or just those that have sided with him, but either way, they want to continue his cause. Which they’ve clearly lost sight of. Save the hosts, don’t kill them.
Or this anomaly they mentioned somehow extends life, only it’s dangerous. Who knows, I’m a bit boggled here.
Xavier purposefully left his bag out to save Octavia and Rose. I’m sure I’ve seen this before. Right, Lincoln kidnapped her and saved her simultaneously. I know this is such a retelling of their story, but I loved Linctavia and thus cannot help boarding this ship.
Another season one throwback to Bellamy and Charlotte. But I think I’ve voiced my concerns about these. Poor, poor Rose. That scene was heartbreaking.
Boy oh boy Bellarke and their romances
Clarke apologizes to Bellamy and states her reasons even though Bellamy has already forgiven her because he would be a hypocrite not to. And they share what has now become known as a Bellarke hug since it’s all these idiots can ever do.
Clarke hooks up with Cillian (who turns out to be the spy) within two seconds, now I’m not sure about you, but I rolled my eyes. Oh, cute, Clarke has yet another lover added to her long list of previous ones. Finn, Niyalah, Lexa, and Bellamy always on the side. I’m glad it’s a guy though to showcase that she is indeed bisexual and not gay. Bisexuality really needs some appreciation.
No one can tell if Bellamy was only upset with the party as he stated or Clarke having fun with some random dude. Most will say it’s the former and it probably is, yet it’s filmed in a different way. Why did they put him in this scene in the first place?
When he sees her having fun, he smiles, he’s happy for her. Then the doctor’s all over her and all of a sudden his attitude changes. I don’t want to read too much into it since I had to watch it like six times to draw this conclusion.
He’s hurt and grieving over a lot of things, especially his sister and then he witnesses his “platonic soulmate” in the arms of another man. She’s always known exactly how to get him to open up, what to say to make him feel better and even though he knows he’s not allowed to feel that way, he’s jealous, he realizes he still needs her.
And that spurs the single tear and his fight with Echo. He even spares another glance over his shoulder when she asks what’s wrong. Or was that just random? Because once he’s calmed down he apologizes to his girlfriend and comforts her when she tells him her backstory after six years of being lied to.
I felt for Echo, her life wasn’t easy, but none of their lives were. Honestly, I just can’t find Becho’s connection. Even though I try, because at some point we have to accept the fact that this is possibly a long term pairing. I’ve made my peace, I’ll ignore them. Give Echo an individual storyline and I might just start liking her more.
A Red Queen and a terrorist walk into a bar
First of all, I have to show my gratitude for the glimpses of Octavia’s humanity. She’s in there and she’s slowly swimming to the top. That thorned rose is blossoming once again, thank you, Bellamy, for your part in this.
This is a weapon of mass destruction if I’ve ever seen one. A pregnant terrorist and a former evil queen. Yes, this is what I’m talking about. I might just write fanfiction about it.
“The devils of earth become the heroes of Sanctum.” They’re set out to kill Gabriel, but I doubt that will occur. From all I’ve heard, he’s good. Enhanced by Cillian’s words: “There are two sides to every story.” So, they will most likely join forces against Sanctum in some way. Hopefully not blowing up another planet. Please do something interesting here.
Josephine!Clarke
Okay, my first take on Josephine Ada Lightbourne was very wrong. To me, she seemed smart, funny and confident. Now she looks like the devil in disguise (No pun intended.)
Reverting back to my earlier assumption about Delilah/Priya. It’s evident that Delilah no longer exists within her body which sets Jordan on edge. But that small statement along with knowing the mind of the host is erased but the brain is unharmed propels me to believe they can come back. Somehow. Hopefully.
Simone says, “I’ll prep for insertion, you clear the host.” Did that mean Clarke’s mind might be stored in some device too? They must have a way of extracting consciousness to transfer it to a host. Thus Clarke Griffin’s mind will be backed up somewhere as well. Not for too long before it’s disposed of, I’m sure.
Come on Madi (Lexa and Becca), Bellamy, Abby, Jordan, Raven, Murphy. You have to figure this out and bring her back before its too late. I refuse to believe Princess Clarke is dead. If she is, my mind is blown in a bullet to the brain kind of way.
One scenario is that Josephine will have to give forth a ruse of being Clarke and willingly accept the “honor” of becoming a prime. She’s been indulging in all their other conventions, why not this one, right? But Jordan now knows what happened to Delilah, so they will try to stop her. Most likely Madi or Bellamy will notice a difference within her.
The dangerous alternative will be for Josephine to simply embrace her new host by saying they brought her to life after Cillian murdered her. Sanctumites, you have no idea how much Clarke’s people care about her. This might even sway those currently mad at her for an investigation.
A few last things
Russel does feel bad about what he’s doing, but so did Dante Wallace.
Raven and Wick (Sorry the other mechanic) what is that? Five minutes after Shaw’s death. Or was it only the motorcycle. Why does this show give us seedlings of relationships that will have no chance of growing?
Is Shadeheda Cadogen and what will he bring to the table?
Madi tasting her first cookie was awesome!
I missed Murphy this episode. His presence is required at all times.
What will happen to Niylah on the ship? And when will Indra make her appearance?
Will Russel and Simone find out that Abby knows how to create nightblood?
Let me know what you think.

sick of seeing ghosts
The anomaly shows you what you desire and what you fear most. Or the one where Bellamy is really tired of losing the people he loves.
this picks up right at the end of season six so spoilers guys
@bellarkebingo
read on ao3
Clumsily dropping to the ground, Bellamy stretched his leg out in a vain attempt to soothe his aching thigh. A small dark patch began to form in the fabric. Groaning he let his head fall back against a nearby tree. He reopened the stitches in his haste to search the woods. Maybe he should have listened when Gabriel said it was useless. His voice wouldn’t be hoarse, his feet wouldn’t be throbbing, and he wouldn’t have blood on his pants - actual that last one was most likely a lie. He probably already had blood on his pants from everything that went down during the adjustment protocol. Bellamy let out a second groan, hands coming up to cover his face. For the first time in six years - no 131 years, his family had been together and safe but no. He had to agree to follow Gabriel to the anomaly. He should have stayed in Sanctum. Octavia should have stayed in Sanctum. Not like they even knew what the anomaly even was! Right as they were on starting to mend, for everything. For the situation Aurora forced them into for fifteen years; for the months on the ground learning to survive; for the years they were apart. They were finally beginning to be the siblings they should have been all along. She was his sister, but no longer his responsibility. Not saying it would be perfect, they always clashed heads, but they were starting over. Then Octavia gets ripped away.
He was getting real tired of this shit
The tree Bellamy was leaning on began to shift and he immediately shifted away. Right, even the trees were homicidal here. So much for a sanctuary.
Getting up to return to Gabriel’s tent was harder than he expected. Slowly, Bellamy rose to his feet but he took at most ten steps before collapsing. Drained emotionally, physically, and mentally of any fight he had left in him, Bellamy rolled over to stare up at the stars.
Real tired.
As the suns began their descent, the green tint to the air started to intensify. The anomaly making its mysterious presence known. Bellamy was in its territory, he was at its mercy. Just like how he was at the mercy of the murderous trees. He closed his eyes, hoping sleep would over take him but instead he was thrust back into the rocket. His hands shaking at his side, his eyes locked on the entrance to Becca’s lab. He could hear a heart pounding, the sound echoing around the clearing. He could hear Raven’s voice off behind him the radiation was effecting the rocket. They needed to leave. He knew his decision was the right one in the end but didn’t make it hurt any less. They all would have died if they waited.
Opening his eyes, Bellamy hoped the image would dissolve as it did every time he startled awake. Sometimes it was the faces of those on the Ark that woke him. Or those in the Grounder village from his stint with Pike. Usually, he saw the faces of those they failed to protect in Mount Weather. But these few minutes always found their way into his sleep. The few minutes where he left her to die.
As the blast doors inched closed they framed the door that wouldn’t open.
“Please stop.” His whisper hoarse, “Please.” The vision shifted, as the Bellamy who made it to the Ring turned to face the rocket. To climb the ladder. His friends voices mixed in but he couldn’t make out the words. Not that he didn’t to, he knew what was side. He remembered the broken look in Harper’s eyes as she asked if Clarke wasn’t coming. The moment when he closed the hatch door. His own voice mixed in with the heart-wrenching symphony he was forced to relive; desperate for Clarke to stumble through the doors. May we meet again.
Suddenly, he was starting out into the darkened woods.
“Sanctum sucks.” Bellamy grumbled, turning into his side. Earth and Sanctum were both supposed to be better than the Ark. Even if their reasons for coming to earth in the first place didn’t seem better. They may have been sent down to die but their final journey to the ground, at least in his imagination, was supposed to be freeing. No more starving on half rations, no more adhering to laws favoring Alpha station, no more living in fear, and most of all no more hiding Octavia. Then Sanctum was supposed to be their second chance, their shot to do better. For Monty and for Harper. But then Russell had to go and attempt murder.
Real fucking tired.
A breeze racked through the trees, leaves whispering taunts at him. Every time he got a member of his family back another was torn from him. If the trees could do him a favor and root him that would be highly appreciated.
Off in the distance, someone spoke. What they said or who was saying could not be made out. Just quiet murmurs. Octavia? He propped himself up on his elbows, eyes darting between the trees trying to make out any movement. The homicidal trees stood dormant. There was no rushing of foliage, no footsteps, nothing to announce someone was coming towards him.
The voice became louder and louder but still warped as if forcing its way through a filter. As the voice babbled on, Bellamy shot up. “Clarke?”
She wasn’t out here. She stayed in Sanctum. She needed to be with Madi as she was mourned for the mother she had to float, not wandering aimlessly in these murder woods at night. He opened his mouth to tell her she should have stayed in Sanctum, when Clarke’s voice surrounded him, saying multiple things at once.
Bellamy, if you can hear me. What becomes of the Commander of Death when there’s no one left to kill? Tell Raven to aim for the one spot of green, and you’ll find me. They’re not very sweet, but they’re beautiful. I think that’s what they used to make the paint for.
He really hated Sanctum.
“Someone’s being dramatic.” Twisting his torso to gaze behind him, Bellamy Blake came face-to-face with one Clarke Griffin. The green air swirled densely around her. As she shifted to get comfortable on the large, unearthed root, the moonlight she basked in refracted.
“You’re not really here.” He inched himself around, to be able to look at the manifestation of Clarke easier. “You’re part of the anomaly.”
This fake version of Clarke had the same chopped blonde hair; all scrunched up and messy. She had shed the cloak worn by his Clarke to disguise herself as Josephine, leaving her arms bare in a blank tank top. Her eyes, those damned blue eyes. She simply shrugged, closing said damned blue eyes.
Silently, the pair sat engrossed in the cacophony of multiple Clarke’s talking over the other. “If you listened to each one in succession, you’d be here for too long.” The manifestation opened it’s eyes, gazing out towards where the two suns had set, “Too long Bellamy.”
Were these the calls she made while left on earth? He strained to make out anything specific but each call blended into the other, making each individual stream of consciousness indistinguishable. There were a few words here and there that rang out clear: Madi, bunker, rover, Bellamy. But in this chaos of past one-sided conversations was Clarke’s life for six years. Her story of survival. Even though he couldn’t hear exactly what was being said, he could feel it. The air shifted; became heavier, became chillier. It pressed down on his chest and bit at his skin. It tried to pull the oxygen from his lungs. Gasping, he tried to regain his breath but he couldn’t. His heart beat wildly in his chest. Was this how he’d go? After watching his mother float, after losing Clarke twice, after Octavia faded away in his arms - it was his turn. Almost immediately, the pressure in the air lightened. Enclosing him in its warmth. He felt - happy? No, that wasn’t the right word. Calm? Maybe. In a blink, an image of him desperately clinging to Clarke in Gabriel’s tent flashed behind his eyelids. He relived the relief that washed over him he never thought he’d experience at hearing someone cough. Knowing she was breathing.
Alive, he felt alive. The calls were Clarke knowing she’d persevere.
His name was repeated over and over, felt like near every call had his name in it at least once. “You called me every day for six years,” he knew this wasn’t Clarke. He knew this wasn’t real but seeing her, being here in these woods he needed to say something, “and left me to die in the fighting pits.” Tears welled in the corners of Clarke’s damned eyes. She tried to stammer out an explanation for the pit but he cut her off. This wasn’t Clarke. It was a cruel joke played by whatever the hell the anomaly was. The manifestation looked so much like her and for the first time since Clarke’s heart restarted, he couldn’t look at her. He looked beyond into the tree line.“And I left you to die in a radiation storm.”
Josephine was right, it was exhausting. No matter what apologizes he gave he could never make up for that lost time.
Clarke’s answer doesn’t come from the manifestation but from the raucous calls echoing about the clearing. All but one muted to a low murmur. Please don’t feel bad about leaving me here. You did what you had to do. I’m proud of you. She may not have blamed him but he sure as hell did. He knew leaving was the reasonable option. If he waited any longer the seven of them would have died right there in the cockpit of the rocket. And unlike Clarke, the didn’t possess nightblood to help thwart off the radiation poisoning. The seven of them would have ended up like Shaw. Logically, it was the right decision. Didn’t make it hurt any less.
The carbon copy of Clarke climbed down from her perch on the root to sit beside him. She brushed the tips of her fingers along his forehead, gently pushing stray curls aside. He and Clarke were tactile people and while he knew the fingers that graced his skin weren’t actually hers, he needed the comfort of someone’s touch. “You’re a good man Bellamy Blake. Even if you don’t see it. You’ll find O.”
What if he didn’t? Diyoza’s daughter Hope stabbed Octavia in the abdomen before she dissolved into a could of green smoke. How was he supposed to save her?
“Next time one of us dies, it’s going to be me.” His dark eyes never leave her glassy blue ones. Watching as they crinkle in the corner as she smiles wryly. He sucks in a breath before continuing on. “I’ve lost you twice- I’ve mourned you twice. I can’t do that a third time.” He couldn’t lose her again. He refused to lose her in Gabriel’s tent. He meant it when he said he needed her. He lived six years on the Ring without her. He knew what is was like to live without Clarke and he never wanted to do that again.
“I don’t think that’s how it works.” The manifestation said in jest, “We don’t have much of a say in the order we die.” She gave a him a small smile, brushing a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear. “Real positive, I know.”
He could feel something slowly inching across his ankle. Whatever it was scrapped its way over the skin, contrasting Clarke’s feather-light touch. Her eyes darted down quickly before she gripped onto his hand. Her touch was neither warm nor cold, but her presence filled the space between them. "I called you for 2,199 days and each day I had to believe you were alive on the Ring.“ He really hated the anomaly. "You need to get up. Find Gabriel, find Echo, hell run to Sanctum. Please just get up Bellamy.” The manifestation dissipated into the air leaving Bellamy alone once more among the trees.
Or at least he thought he was alone. “Visions from the anomaly are fun, are they not?” Gabriel’s voice drawled out behind him. The fingers of other male’s left hand danced across the blade of the dagger Gabriel gripped in his right. “Who needs red sun toxin when you could see what you desire and what you fear most simultaneously.” As he walked around to face Bellamy, Gabriel dropped the dagger into the dirt beside Bellamy’s ankle. A root from one of the trees had made it’s home wrapped around the skin of Bellamy’s ankle. The dagger a silent warning to cut it now before more spread.
As Bellamy worked his way through the root, Gabriel rambled on, “For me, Josephine was both. The woman I loved for centuries and the woman who I should have stopped. Instead I ran, stayed out here while she grew callous. While she enacted oblation for null infants.” Gabriel stopped where he was, gazed out into the night before quickly averting his attention away. “Maybe I’m a masochist but I would come out here for decades just to see her. The anomaly creates another Josephine Ada Lightbourne. Thinks like her, acts like her, looks like her. In every way, except one, I was with Josephine again and for a brief moment the past two hundred some odd years didn’t exist.” Gabriel’s dark eyes met Bellamy’s, “We could just talk.”
The anomaly shows you what you desire and what you fear most. He saw Clarke. He only saw Clarke. He saw losing her the first time. He briefly saw himself after he did a piss poor job at CPR - beating their chest isn’t idle when resuscitating someone. He saw her. Standing to his feet slowly, Bellamy gave a small nod of acknowledgement to the other. Sanctum was too far to reach at this hour and she’d need time to heal but he needed to speak with Clarke. He wouldn’t spend his days speaking into the anomaly’s version of Clarke Griffin. They had a lot to discuss.
“Want to talk about whatever it was you saw? First brush with the anomaly can be altering and it’s a decent walk from here to the tent. When I left, Echo agreed to watch over the girl. We got time.”
This is probably the worst bingo submission you’ll see. I’ve never written for The 100 before. Sorry if this is really bad. Inspired by Gabriel stating that the anomaly shows you what you desire and what you fear most and me not getting to see what Bell saw in the anomaly. That and, “You called me every day for six years and you left me to die in the fighting pits.“ I took a lot of liberties since we know very little about the anomaly. Sorry that there’s no real discussion about the calls, it’s more Bellamy understanding Clarke while she made the radio calls. Hopefully that makes sense.
#bellarkebingo#bellamy blake#clarke griffin#radio calls#bellarke#bellarke fic#JRoth would probably deem this platonic but the author is actually bellarke trash#bellarke bingo

Parent Names:
Nayantara Rajui (Mother): Nayantara raised Nada and Gabe on her own after she deemed their father unworthy. She was unable to have any more kids after the two of them were born and often voiced her distaste for them having been male. Nada learned at a young age to ignore her and he became insensitive to most of her ramblings. Nayantara is still alive but somewhere in India and remarried.
Unknown (Father): Nayantara never had anything good to say about Nada’s father. She never used his real name and always referred to him as something derogatory. Nada believes she might have killed him.
Sibling Names:
Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Rajui (Twin Brother): Gabe struggled under their mother’s hostility towards them. Gabe and Nada depended on each other in order to survive. Gabe is Nada’s best friend and the only family he knows. Gabe lives in Chicago but refuses to participate in any major clan practices. Nayantara and the way of their fromer clan has turned Gabe off from the supernatural in general.
Children Names:
None
Romantic Connections:
Raja Lankala (Fiancee): Nada and Raja relationship together started off slowly. Nada had built walls around his heart, not truly trusting Hyena females with it or letting them get close enough to shut him out later on; like his mother and father. They flirted with each other and Nada’s walls began to creak for the first time ever. He didn’t put up much of a fight to put a stop to things when after a decade of flirting, they both decided to test the waters and go on a date in the early 80s. They continued to date, randomly inviting people into their beds, until Nada decided Raja was definitely the only one he wanted to be with forever; not that he had a doubt after their first year together. Nada proposed on New Years 1997.
Platonic Connections:
Gretchen Sims (Good Friend): Nada was the first one to sit Gretchen down and explain what happened to her. After Venus died, Nada told Gretchen that she should take over and accept being the leader they needed at that moment. Nada truly believes Gretchen would make a great leader and bring about a change.
Silas Moebius (Good Friend): Nada and Gretchen found Silas not long after the woman who turned him was killed by another hyena. Nada had already taken Silas under his wing when he was a human arson investigator. Silas spends a large amount of time over at Nada’s house with Russel and Eli. Silas has recently introduced Nada to the Farmers Market and has started joining Nada on the grill whenever he is over at Nada’s house
Chris Shaw (Good Friend): Nada and Chris are an unlikely pair. When Nada first met the wolves’ liaison, they had to meet again the next day because they were unable to stay on topic and completed absolutely nothing. This is still a fact years later. Nada invites Chris over all the time to sports, food and beer.
Russel Jordan (Old Friend): Nada has known Russel for most of his life, both of them being a part of the original pack that migrated to Chicago. Nada and Russel clearly have different views but they’ve always been able to maintain their friendship, while also acknowledging each other’s differences. Russel has taken to watching MMA fights at Nada’s place with Silas and Eli.
Arthur ‘Art’ Milligan Jr (Old Friend): Arthur and Nada were once good friends. However, with Venus’ death and the disorder among the clan, Arthur and Nada haven’t been on the same page. Arthur had to bring in a few hyenas for questioning and that did not sit right with Nada. Nada is unsure where their friendship is heading at the moment but could use this old friend one his side.
Nick Hamelin (Old Friend): Nick was one of the first leaders to greet Venus and Nada when they arrived in Chicago in the early 1900s. It didn’t take long for Nada to find out that Nick was a savage or for Nick to find his old nickname ‘Nada’ and have it spread around. Said nickname came from his mother’s pack, Kylo was worth nothing, in other words he was Nada. He found the humor in it and it became his name in Chicago rather than a tease or insult; thanks to Nick.
Benjamin ‘Ben’ Nile (Packmate/Friend): Nada and Russel had somewhat of a hand raising Ben, whenever Venus wasn’t pushing them away from him and trying to fully control his life. Nada enrolled Ben in music lessons when he first arrived in Chicago and is proud to see that it stuck with him.
Robert J Fischer (Mayor Candidate): Russel and Nada were surprised when the human shifters came to them for support. The risk was high, giving their strong relationship with the local rat pack. It took a lot of negotiating on Nada’s, Sarah’s and Vincent’s part to move forward with the plan.
Rayner Hamelin (Old Friend/Liaison): Nada has known Ray as long as he’s known Nick and likes his brother just as much. Nada thought he was smooth, but Ray takes being a liaison to a new level. Watching him wheel and deal, knowing how much of a savage he truly is, was incredibly entertaining. Nada and Ray kept in touch, even after he moved out of the country.
Sarah Harris (Liaison): The Jackals and Hyenas have always been very close to one another; the younger ones are even closer than past generations. Sarah has expressed her concerns over Venus’ death and the chaos happening within their pack. Nada hopes that his clan doesn’t lose the Jackals’ support.
Vincent Kane (Liaison): Vincent is always straight to business and at times curt. Nada has never taken it to heart, knowing how secretive human shifters are in general. They have crossed paths outside of liaison business but nothing more.
Hostile Connections:
Elle Colt (Hunter): Elle has reached out to their pack and demanded that Nada fix the power struggle or that the Colts, and possibly other hunter families, will start picking off hyenas one by one. Nada nearly lost his cool, he is tempted to send a stampede of hyenas to kill off the Colts but knows it will only bring trouble.
Juliette Willott (Disappointment): Nada is disappointed in how Juliette is handling the Eli situation. Russel has mentioned his feelings may be displaced since he has had to keep Eli’s knowledge of the truth a secret from Raja.
Sam Thompson (Unsure): Clara and Venus were close, Nada tried to form a friendship with Sam on that principle alone and failed. All in all, Nada is simply unsure about Sam and keeps things between them strictly business.

The Reaper - Mercy Connection
So, Mercy patched up Reyes after the destruction of the Zurich HQ, right? Let’s go with that. She tried to revive him with flawed/incomplete/damaged technology at hand, Most likely it was either use the risky stuff she had right there right now or he dies.
My question would be, was she aware that she saved him? That he was alive and walked away and Mercy promised not to tell anyone he survived and the drawbacks and side-effects showed later, after Reyes had broken all contact and basically faked his own death (same as Morrison). Or did she try and thought she had failed but instead the technology needed a bit of time to kick in and he woke up later, flawed and broken and Mercy is unaware he survived, thinking him dead?
I would be inclined to think the latter, but my concern there is, no body ever showed up, right? Couldn’t have, since Reyes is using his body, being alive and all. (or does he?) Seeing that Mercy tried to heal him and if he had died right there, she would have given his body to the authorities who came for relief and after he was confirmed dead, it would have been sent back to his homeland for a burial. So what I mean is that I think we would have heard if his body had disappeared after the fact, at least in those newspaper articles.
Or the tech needed so long, he basically dug himself out of his own grave?
Same question regarding Morrison, I would assume that when the explosion happened, that Reyes and Morrison were in the same room. And if Angela found Reyes, chances are high that she’d have found Morrison as well. Not necessarily so, true, but still.
Did Angela know that both had survived, that both had decided to fake their deaths and she then took all the responsibility to be the face and de facto last remaining leader of Overwatch as the UN rushed to close it down?
That she had to basically carry all the blame and scorn of a public disappointed in their heroes and feeling betrayed by Overwatch and that members of Overwatch who saw her as giving up and betraying them by agreeing to the dismantlement resented her? Carrying all that whilst knowing that one or two of the three actual leaders who had started this, who were actually responsible for this basically fled?
That they (and let’s be honest, Ana as well, she could have come back at any time) foisted this terrible burden on her, she who had tried more than anyone to keep things peaceful but who had to fight against the weaponization of her technology and was betrayed by Overwatch as Ana’s tech shows (biotic rifle being built against her wishes, the stim boost that makes one tougher and stronger for a short time and nanobots that prevent healing and do harm, basically the opposite of what she would want) that she would be the target of everyone's scorn and spite?
And she still carried that burden. She didn’t tell anyone about Reyes or Morrison (if she knew which we’ll discuss in a minute).
Then again, Reyes knew Morrison survived. Seeing that the newspaper article about Soldier 76 assumed that it was Jack and given that Soldier 76 got a 10 million dollar bounty (which makes more sense if they knew who Soldier 76 and with that how dangerous he is), I’d say a few governments and high ranking professionals knew or at least heavily suspected that Jack survived.
It’s unclear if Morrison knew Reyes did. He didn’t seem particularly surprised that Reyes was Reaper but at the same time I’m not sure he was certain. He recognized Reaper’s voice when he heard it but again, unsure if that was something out of the blue or merely confirming a theory. he was there for Ana, and not really for Reyes but we don’’t know.
Both had suspicions about Ana being alive, given their dialog. Morrison was there to recruit Ana. Ana seemed relatively sure Morrison was still alive but I’m not sure if she was surprised that Reyes was alive at all or how his state was.
So, it’s really unclear who knew what. We can’t really tell, it’s all a bit frustratingly vague.
That said, coming back to Mercy, I am not even one hundred percent sure it was Mercy who healed him. Heck, we don’t really have proof she was there. We all inferred it since it happened in the Swiss HQ and that’s Mercy’s turf but I can’t find a single line that says Mercy was right there when the HQ blew up in the fight. I am 99.9% certain her technology was used/involved in creating Reaper, since the effects on Reapers body are on a molecular level and that’s where the nano-tech is at but every piece of dialogue that I could find about the matter really makes me think it wasn’t Mercy.
Mercy: What happened to you? Reaper: You tell me, doc.
and from Old Soldiers
Ana; What happened to you...? Reaper: He did this to me Ana. They left me to become this thing. Ana: Gabriel... Reaper: They left you to die. They left me to suffer...
Which doesn’t exactly sound like Mercy was involved, right? Especially since Mercy sounds surprised and more curious rather than horrified when she asks “what happened to you” ingame. As if she had no idea what happened to him and not that something she did had unintentional consequences. But she is also not shocked, but then again, there are no lines of voicing disbelief with Ana or Jack either and we know at least with Ana that she had no idea and all she says to her so far is to remind her that she could fix her eye.
When you google Mercy and Reaper lines, a variation of this pops up:
Reaper: Don't forget, you're the one responsible for this
Mercy: This is not what I intended Reyes
or
Reaper: (Revived by Mercy) This is your fault...
Mercy: This is not what I had in mind.
However, Lead Writer Michael Chu wrote on the official forums that this line/exchange does not exist in the game. And I similarly couldn’t find a soundbite of this dialogue and having played over 50 hours of Mercy myself ever since the game came out, not to mention way more hours where I had a Mercy in my team, I’m honestly not sure if I heard it or not. Here is a thread discussing that lines existence as a few are convinced it did exist at one point.
In one of these threads, this video is linked where some person is talking about Reaper and whatnot but they actually have a soundbite in which Reyes does say
“Don't forget, you're the one responsible for this”
It’s also listed under Final Blows when killing Mercy on overwatch.gamepedia.
Only Reaper though and no context given. We don’t know WHO is he saying it to. Could be Mercy, the overwatch gamepedia site thinks it was. Could be Soldier. Heck even if he did say it to Mercy, being responsible might just mean because her tech was used and not that she necessarily did it herself. She created the tech, she was researching bringing people back from the dead, it’s her ultimate ability ingame. Whether she herself used that tech on him, someone else did or just an accident, in a lot of ways, she would be responsible either way, since she was the creator.
So, maybe Jack and Gabe were fighting, stuff exploded and it was more comic book-esque in that the explosion made Angela’s lab blow up and the stuff there messed Gabriel up. Or, a darker take, Jack did something. In the Old Soldiers comic he does blame Jack. But he also says “they left me”. Is the “they” Jack and Overwatch or Jack and Mercy? The former makes sense for both instances, Ana and Reaper whereas the latter doesn’t for Ana. Does he mean both but that would be unnecessarily confusing and unlikely. So it makes me suspect that Reyes meant Jack and Overwatch or at least Jack and his faction. We know from the Olympa Shaw article that there was a civil war within Overwatch.
These records indicate that a rebellion tore the group apart from within. On one side was Morrison, determined to hold together what remained of Overwatch. On the other side was Reyes, whose agenda remains unknown to this day. A battle raged between these men deep within Overwatch's base. At some point, their fighting triggered an explosion that destroyed the facility and sent the dreams of an entire generation up in flames.
According to Overwatch's former agents, this outcome was inevitable. "After Morrison's promotion to strike commander, his relationship with Reyes changed," Dr. Angela Ziegler, medical director of Overwatch, stated during a UN committee hearing. "The tension became more pronounced as time went on. I tried to mend things. We all did. Sometimes when the closest bonds break, all you can do is pray you stay out of the cross fire."
The UN data goes on to disclose something even more disturbing: Morrison's body was never recovered.
Quote from the article itself. So yeah, two factions clashed and Mercy, fitting to her character, was on neither side. Now, it would make sense for her to have been on ground zero on this day. Both because a) it’s the Swiss Headquarters and her being kinda the main (and so far only) Swiss hero makes sense for that to be “her” main place where she lives and all and b) that in her role as mediator between the two factions, that she was trying to keep the two sides from actually fighting. On the other hand, when two parties clash, are ready to clash and I suspect even wanted this fight to happen, one way or another, would they try that with Mercy there? Or would they want that to happen at a time when Mercy is no way near so she wouldn’t come between them? Or did it happen in a completely different manner?Frustratingly, it’s even vague whether or not it was just Reyes and Morrison fighting or if both were leading actual factions and the fighting was between more than two people. Seeing how big of a fuck-ups those two are, I can believe that those two could blow up the HQ on their own, but what, was the building completely empty for some reason? Unlikely, as the article says “ Among the casualties were Morrison and Reyes. ” meaning there were more than just those two. The word rebellion is used, does that mean that the HQ was going its normal way and then Reyes came with a surprise attack and Morrison had to rally the loyal troops and that fight caused the explosion? Or because of the investigations into Overwatch, no one was in the HQ, those two met up (or three with Mercy as the mediator) and things escalated and that made things explode? And then what, Mercy found Reaper and healed him but not Morrison? Am I to believe she didn’t search for him? You’ll notice the article goes out of its way to mention Morrison’s body but there isn’t one word about Reaper’s. It also doesn’t mention a single word about Mercy being there on that day, only that she later talked about the general deterioration of the relationship of Reyes and Morrison. If Mercy found Reaper and healed him, did he just stand up and walk away? Did he look for Morrison and couldn’t find him? He did say he had been looking for him ever since that day, well, does that mean that after the explosion, did he search through the rubble? Did he immediately flee? Was he an incorperal ghost and woke up days later? If Mercy healed him, what did he tell Mercy? Pretend I’m dead? All possible. Or she wasn’t there at all, the fighting lead them to her labs, stuff exploded and he got nanobots all over him and comic book science happened.Or Jack and “they” did something to Reaper.Fact is, we don’t know. Overwatch has a lot of these things where you just don’t know for sure how things played out. Timeline stuff is vague enough. Heck, the Reaper is supposed to be a mercenary active for decades and that seems to clash with the facts that we know. Was Reaper an alter ego that Reyes used for a long time or is it a mantle he picked up. Like Doomfist, that it is a title and he maybe killed the other Reaper. Or was it part of his Blackwatch persona? So many questions. Honestly, I’m not sure about anything. Before writing this, I was actually more on the Mercy was there and caused the Reaper thing side, because that’s an interesting story hook. It makes for nice conflict. But now, I have to say, the signs seem to lean more towards the fact that Mercy really had nothing to do with anything there, that she wasn’t even there and didn’t know that neither Morrison nor Reyes survived.I don’t know if the Overwatch writers did some retconning via the line, rewriting the story and character dynamics, or if I am overthinking things or if they just love being super vague. It’s fun to speculate but honestly, at this point, I’d love some concrete facts and hard dates.
