There are roughly 200,000 known species of fungi across the globe, with roughly 15,000 found within the UK. Currently, scientists estimate that there could be another 2 million species of fungus yet to be discovered. You will find this drawing and other mushroom art in my shop…

Flower Friday
Thanks for tagging me, @a-noble-dragon @jamilas-pen and @dytzyone! I'm enjoying these fall photos.
I took all of these this morning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the resolution's too bad now that it's uploaded, but the middle one says "joy" in red letters on the front of a house peeking through. It was funny to glance that way and see it.
That tree is some kind of cedar, and I don't think the photo does it justice. Its trunk is huge. And those are false chanterelle mushrooms.
I haven't been around today and might have missed some flower Friday posts (I'll go catch up), and it's also kind of late in the day, but I'll just say hi to @statueinthestone @filet-o-feelings @mostlyinthemorning @flowertrigger @stargazer56 and if anyone else wants to jump in, please do, with flowers, other plants, animals, random words on houses . . . .

Golden trumpet 》 Xeromphalina campanella
Another common name for these guys is the pinewood gingertail! I've seen them often in field guides but this was my first encounter with them in person. 🧡

20th December 2024: Lady's bedstraw, view, fungi and lichen, turkey tail, Greylag Geese which I enjoyed seeing a lot of again and leaves at Lakeside Country Park and moon out the back this morning.
Other highlights at Lakeside were dainty and vigorous Wren a bird I've enjoyed seeing a lot of this week a key one to see in winter as the leaves disappear and they're a bit more visible, Tufted Duck, Moorhen, Great Crested Grebe, Carrion Crow, Grey Squirrel something I've seen a lot of this week, a surprise buttercup, hazel catkins, mistletoe and rose hips.

Mushroom mini portraits
I was experimenting with this drawing showcasing some of the colour and variety in the world of fungi and ended up with these cute little mushrooms. A wee bit of nature art that might be good for nursery decor…

It’s Tell a Friend Friday!
Please enjoy this photo I took of my food dehydrator, which is full of sliced king bolete (Boletus edulis). I don't like the texture of the pores/gills, so I slice them as thin as I can, run them through the dehydrator til they're cracker-dry, and then through a coffee grinder to make a powder. It makes a great savory/umami base for soups and more!

Flower Friday
Thank you for tagging me, @a-noble-dragon and @jamilas-pen !
It's foggy and frosty in the mornings now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the park this morning. There's a little treehouse some kids made that has been there a long time. I like the bracket mushroom at the base of their ladder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's a hare's foot inkcap in the upper right, which I have just learned about. They only last a few hours until they dissolve into black "ink."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somehow still hanging on.
Tumblr media
I took a walk. There were clouds and water.
Tumblr media
Those are freshwater mussels you can kind of see in the canal there.
Tagging @mostlyinthemorning @ramonaflow @stargazer56 @leofdaeg-sand @flowertrigger
and @stereopticons @saraminia @tyfinn @filet-o-feelings and whoever I missed, if you want to join in with flower or related talk or just say hi.
And a shout out to @mammameesh who posted some nice butterflies yesterday.

[ID: A stylized illustration of the magpie ink-cap mushroom in its three growing stages: rounded cap, a slightly taller triangular cap, and a flat cap with the rest of the mushroom dissolved into 'ink' dripping from the edges. The mushroom's stalk is pale and the cap is black with many white speckles (until it mostly turns into ink). /End ID].

It's Friday. Have a fungus. 🍄💖
