Flower Power Friday
Thanks to @ramonaflow for the tag.
The weather has been tumultuous here so I haven’t been going out much, but here’s a little video (no flowers, though).

Oleanders!
Oleander (Nerium Oleander) are so widely cultivated that their region of origin is uncertain, but it’s usually associated with the Mediterranean Basin!
The genus name Nerium is the latinised form of the Ancient Greek name for the plant nẽrion (νήριον), derived from the Greek for water, nẽros (νηρός), cause of how their natural habitat is along rivers/streams. There’s multiple theories about the origin of the name ‘oleander’, but the one I believe it is dates back as far as the first century AD, where a Greek physician cited it as a term for the plant used by the Romans.
They have a meaning of caution! Given this meaning by the Victorians cause of its toxicity, it's also said to be because of its association with the Greek cautionary tale of Hero and Leander. They were in love, and though they lived on opposite sides of the Hellespont Sea, Leander swam across it every night to visit Hero. One night, during a violent storm, Leander died trying to swim to Hero. When she saw his body wash ashore, she called out “O, Leander! O, Leander!” and drowned herself to be with him in death. Because of that, it’s suggested this is why oleanders grow along rivers/streams.
When you grow them in a pot, place in a well-lit spot away from central heating (or plant outside in a sunny, sheltered spot). They don’t tolerate frost, and need regular watering (but reduce frequency of watering in winter!)
Please don’t eat them!
There’s no clinical evidence to support specific doses of oleander. It’s literally no longer considered safe due to extreme toxicity, and it’s potentially lethal!
If you’re gonna use these for any kind of magickal purpose, DON'T burn them!!! Don't make incenses out of them because they’re toxic to be inhaled as well! But you can still use them for emotional healing, or to banish negativity!
You can pair them with azaleas to warn someone they’re about to make a poor choice, or sunflowers to caution a friend against a bad investment! Hell, if you want you can pair them with roses if you wanna tell someone you think their relationship won’t last!
but that last one is, like, break glass in case of emergency LMAO!

Having put my nephew to work on Wednesday, I allowed him a little time to himself whilst his Mum was helping me. He found some fake toadstools, a box of moss & created a "field" 🍄
Since then two other little people have been in & wanted to move them about❤️

Flower Friday
Thanks for tagging me, @a-noble-dragon @jamilas-pen and @dytzyone! I'm enjoying these fall photos.
I took all of these this morning.

I think the resolution's too bad now that it's uploaded, but the middle one says "joy" in red letters on the front of a house peeking through. It was funny to glance that way and see it.
That tree is some kind of cedar, and I don't think the photo does it justice. Its trunk is huge. And those are false chanterelle mushrooms.
I haven't been around today and might have missed some flower Friday posts (I'll go catch up), and it's also kind of late in the day, but I'll just say hi to @statueinthestone @filet-o-feelings @mostlyinthemorning @flowertrigger @stargazer56 and if anyone else wants to jump in, please do, with flowers, other plants, animals, random words on houses . . . .
