Something that's always bothered me about Grian is that he doesn't. ever. do. interiors. His builds are soo good and have so much potential, but I always fall short when trying to imagine his character actually living there. So I took it upon myself to recreate his house in minecraft, and build an interior myself, in a way I think he would do it (using a couple resource packs and mods, to make it more fun for myself)

I don't think he would waste any space - especially not for storage, so I've tried to add a few extra chests around.

• they have a long list of study tips for demigods, including what has worked for them to help focus their adhd in school (as most demigods struggle with remaining on task in work environments).

• they secretly love police procedural/detective shows. law & order, criminal minds— you name it, they watch it. and there's always a "friendly" competition to see who can solve the crime first.

• someone engineered glow-in-the-dark paper for late-night studying and planning. they always have a huge supply.

• they have a pet owl that they all take turns feeding and looking after.

• they help organise camp events that aren't run by chiron and they have a calendar full of birthdays and dates that are special to other campers.

• they are the only people on earth to have discovered a constantly comfortable reading position.

• they all start to feel slightly nauseated if they're in water for too long. showers, the lake, a pool, the rain— any water. this comes from athena's rivalry with poseidon. the only way for it to be neutralized is if they are in the presence of a friendly child of poseidon.

• some of them trap spiders and use them in experiments. this helps them gain more knowledge, combat their fears, and take revenge on these spiders all at the same time.

• they aren't normally ones to break rules. however, they rarely go to bed on time. when other campers ask them why, they simply laugh and say, "we're all night owls." (get it? i’ll stop. 😔)

• they aren't scared of normal horror movies. they usually just laugh at how frustratingly stupid the characters are. the only movies that make them scared are ones where spiders are involved.

• they take monopoly way too seriously and take it as a personal affront that they keep losing to the hermes cabin.

• they have a website that you can only view inside of camp half-blood. it’s sort of a virtual log book, which makes it easy for the kids that have been away during the year or on quests to catch up on what they’ve missed.

exist outside of time. High vaulted ceilings, soaked in centuries of history, were adorned with glowing

runes that pulsed with life, responding to the thoughts and emotions of the beings gathered below. Soft

golden light streamed into the room from crystalline spheres that floated in the air, shifting colors in

tune with the mood of the discussion.

Representatives from across the galaxy had gathered in this hall—beings of incredible diversity, each

one embodying the unique beauty and power of their race. Tall and luminous, Ethereal beings seemed

to shimmer as they moved, their garments ranging from simple robes to intricate, ornate attire, each

bearing the emblem of their status. Alongside them stood warriors with bronze skin, wisps of smoke in

humanoid form, and metallic creatures that glinted in the light, all coexisting in a delicate balance.

Despite the importance of the topics being discussed, the atmosphere in the chamber was thick with

the weight of bureaucracy—a slow, creaking machine of deliberation that had long lost momentum. The

Council was mired in debates over trivial issues that could quickly wear down even the most patient

listener.

Dundul Kron sat in his seat, his gaze drifting over the assembly, but his thoughts were far from this hall.

His restless mind sought escape from the monotony. And as often, he slipped away to another place,

far removed from the noise and tedium.

With a deft shift, he connected to the collective unconscious and, with just one leap, transported

himself to a bar, leaving the assembly behind. His decisions would be recorded and documented

regardless; why waste energy on being present where the only task was to select the distinctive feature

of a specific model, or to decide why it should have a particular color, with periodic rescan for

additional functions that enhance the model’s ability to perform its assigned tasks?

In this other reality, everything was sharper, more vivid. Here, there were no debates, no endless

discussions, only peace and harmony. The bar where Dundul had transported himself was located on

the rings of Saturn, a place that epitomized tranquility and seclusion, far from the bustle of the galaxy.This bar, hidden among billions of icy and rocky particles, offered a breathtaking view of the planet's

rings, slowly streaming through the vastness of space. It was called "On Saturn's Rings" and was the

embodiment of what could be called the perfect place for those seeking quiet and solitude away from

the chaos of the universe.

The interior of the bar was simultaneously cozy and futuristic, with floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed

guests to gaze out at the endless expanse of Saturn and its famous rings. Beyond these windows, like a

river of time, the distant stars slowly drifted by, creating a sense of eternity and calm.

Tables and chairs, made of soft yet sturdy materials, were arranged so that each visitor could enjoy the

panoramic view. The lighting in the bar was subdued and soft, emanating from neon tubes that gradually

changed color depending on the time of day and the mood of the patrons.

The bartender, seemingly an extension of the bar itself, effortlessly mixed drinks that seemed to absorb

the atmosphere of the place. Each cocktail served here was more than just a drink; it was an entire

universe of flavors and sensations, adjusting to the emotions and thoughts of those who consumed it.

This bar was the place where one could come to ponder important decisions, immerse oneself in

reflections on life and the universe, or enjoy a moment of silence in the vastness of space. For Dundul, it

was the perfect place to meet her—a place where time slowed down, allowing him to focus on what

truly mattered.

Meeting with Sophia was what truly mattered now. She was a beacon of calm in the storm of his

thoughts, her presence a reminder of the beauty that lay beyond the confines of duty. Her deep,

understanding eyes met his gaze, and a soft smile played on her lips as she voiced the question that had

been lingering in her mind.

“It’s fascinating how you understand things as if you’re seeing through layers of reality,” she began, as if

continuing a thought out loud. “I had a strange feeling during my last work. It was as if my brushes were

painting not by my hand, but by someone else’s. Is this what you talk about—the unconscious?”

“It’s similar to what Jung would call ‘the projection of the unconscious onto matter,’” Dundul replied,

smiling slightly. “Perhaps your brushes weren’t guided by your hands but by archetypes hidden deep

within your subconscious. They might manifest through you, as if you were a conduit for their energy. Do

consciousness and the unconscious. The second force is your ego, trying to maintain order. But to

achieve true harmony, we must learn to listen to both sides. Have you ever tried talking to these forces

as if they were living beings?”

“Talking? I’ve never thought of it that way. But you’re right, they do seem alive. How would you suggest I

begin such a dialogue?”

“Try entering a state of light trance, when you’re on the edge between sleep and wakefulness,” Dundul

suggested, his voice nearly a whisper, as if he were sharing a sacred secret. “In that moment, you can

visualize these forces. Imagine them as figures with whom you can converse. Ask them what they want

to tell you, and listen. You might be surprised by what you hear.”

She looked at him, her eyes once again meeting his gaze.

“I’ll try. It seems like this could be an important step toward understanding what’s happening inside me.

Thank you. I feel a bit more at ease knowing you’ve been through something similar.”

Dundul smiled gently.

“We all go through this, it’s just that not everyone realizes it. I’m glad I could help. Remember, this is a

journey to your true self, and only you can define what it means.”

I’ve been seeing a few posts on minimalism going around, one being @bisquitt’s post on sustainability and minimalism—how the two terms shouldn’t be conflated, and how real sustainability is about anti-capitalism in the forms of reuse, repair, and community interdependence. Another is @allstrangeandwonderful’s post on how Minimalism is an aesthetic based around coping in the "corporate hellscape" we live in—contemporary designers gravitate towards neutral colors as a respite from the warlike corporate use of color to catch the attention of a consumer (See Mina Le's video on this concept also. She offers up a few possible reasons for this trend towards "greige" interiors, one being the inundation from advertising we experience in our everyday lives).

I wanted to talk about these concepts and tie in some other things I’ve been seeing around.

Imo, minimalism is anti-consumerist, but not anti-capitalist. The lifestyle and aesthetic is intended to address the systemic problem of living in a consumerist society on an individual level. Instead of ending the capitalist system that thrusts consumerism on us all, it suggests that minimalists create a safe space away from consumerism. It is not interested in changing the system, only the individual. What really drove this home for me was watching The Financial Diet on YouTube interview The Minimalists, the guys who kicked off the trend. The lifestyle choices bisquitt offers up as sustainable are typically lumped under the umbrella of Solarpunk: “fixing shit around your house. thrifting. patching clothes and handing them down. a community garden. potluck dinner parties. farmer’s markets. a barter system among friends and neighbors. kindness. love among community members.“ These things do not conform to the minimalist aesthetic tenets of order, function, and simplicity. They are often vibrant, mismatched, and chaotic, messy even (see my post on solarpunk aesthetics here). This is because solarpunk aims to solve the same issues minimalism does, but on a societal level. Solarpunk is working towards a utopian future of degrowth, where the forces that Minimalism is in opposition to will no longer exist. This allows for everyday people to reclaim vibrancy from corporations. That busyness is only desirable in a world where capitalism isn't such a burden. Solarpunk advocates for simplicity in all but design, instead of the other way around.

Another thing is the separation between meaning and function present in Minimalism. Minimalism is often associated with deriving pleasure from experiences, not things. The physical space is deprioritized (I know the movement is about changing the physical space, but the idea is that the physical space just makes your life more efficient) for a kind of zen outlook about mind over matter. Solarpunk is much more holistic in its recognition that inner peace comes from a play between the external and internal worlds—from connection and respect for people, things, and resources. Instead of removing meaning and beauty from a space to prioritize the mind, Solarpunk instills it, to elicit interaction with the world instead of a retreat from it. Thus, Solarpunk rolls meaning and function into one: a visibly mended shirt is both functional (the hole is gone), and meaningful (it says much more about the politics of the wearer than one mended invisibly). Another example is the bottle walls commonly used in Earthships: Making the bottles visible is beautiful, and it communicates that the builder is interested in using sustainable material.

In short, minimalism is individualist while Solarpunk is collectivist, and the aesthetics of each reflect that. Retreating from a broken society will not fix said society. Sustainability needs to be solved on a societal level, so minimalism as a solution to overconsumption just isn't gonna cut it.

Finally finished the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters or Xavier Mansion!! I had a hard time feeling up the huge space but I think I managed.

The exterior/silhouette is definitely inspired by the 90’s cartoon, while the interior looks like the movie (I loved how beautiful the movie’s school looks like, it reminds me so much of my former university).

For the basement… that is all I can do, I tried making the danger room but I also wanted for it to function hence the gym equipments. Cerebro… let’s not talk about.

I’ll try and compile all of the mods I have used and will try and upload it someday but for now, I’ll play with my RoLo sims.

So, I thought I'd make a little compilation of visual stuff for my fan fiction series “Shadows Of Our Past, Present, And (possible) Future”

This needs to be two posts, because tumblr only allows 30 images per post (I think). Please don't steal the images. It took me ages to build the apartment in an interior design/architecture program (Planner 5D). If you want to use them, feel free to ask :)

Shota's (and Yoru's) small apartment in the prequel:

The main room — kitchen, entryway, living room Details: The guitars, Shota's bike helmet (and a kid's motorbike helmet), Yoru's little house slippers and her little yellow coat, the black coat on the right side of the rack is supposed to be Shota's hero costume, and the gray thing next to it (under Yoru's yellow coat) is his scarf. The furniture is mismatched. Aizawa truly doesn't give a shit and was tight on money. As long as it's functional, there's no need for furniture to go well together.

The bathroom: Details: it's small and functional. There's a little duck for Yoru to play with while she's having her bath, as well as a shark on top of the shelf.

Shota's room: Details: none — purely functional. Completely Shota Aizawa

Yoru's room: Details: the complete opposite of Shota's room. Hizashi and Nemuri (Present Mic and Midnight) helped him (forced him) to get most of it and prepare it the way it is now. They also paid for pretty much all of it. The string lights are important — they're always turned on during the night (Yoru hates sleeping in the dark, already did when she was still little — probably even more back then), Uni the Unicorn plushie: Shota gifted it to her when he found her in the back alley. It's magical and its horn can glow. The room is completely cramped with everything and more a four-year-old child could need (it's so full that the window is hidden behind the little play-tent-thingy).

The balcony: Details: Shota is a secret smoker (not very often and always makes sure that Yoru doesn't notice), the cherry tree: he got it for her the day she officially moved in. He prepared with a lot of parenting books once the adoption was approved (because, of course, he did) and one of them mentioned how some parents plant a tree the day their child is born, so they can grow (strong) together. Alas, he doesn't have a garden, so the little cherry tree sapling on the balcony has to do.

So, after starting at U.A. (which pays very well, I mean… it's Japan's most prestigious (hero) school) and with Shota earning more money, they moved places when Yoru was ten. It's an old building that used to be open-office spaces and the plumbing doesn't always work, but it's home. Money was still sort of tight (it's a big apartment, therefore expensive and needed some major renovating and furnishing), so Hizashi and Nemuri, once more, chipped in. They have enough money, you know — being public pro heroes with multiple jobs and business deals, so it didn't really hurt them. Don't worry, Shota paid it all back by now, though. Hizashi and Nemuri paying for a lot of it also meant that they had a lot to say regarding decoration and what to get, though. Shota himself would have been happy with half of the stuff, feeling as if it's a lot of things people don't need. He likes it though — it's comfy, but I'm not sure he'd ever admit it.

We'll start with the layout this time because the place is a whole lot bigger.

Layout: Details: a little bit like their old apartment, meaing it has a very open floored plan.

Balcony: Details: Almost the whole ceiling-high-window area opposite the entryway opens up. The sunlight, especially when the sun sets, is absolutely beautiful. It's what made Shota and Yoru choose the apartment. The cats are allowed to go outside to the balcony — they know they're not allowed to jump up on the railings. They enjoy hunting little birds and small bugs there, often bringing their dead prey inside as gifts for their humans, who in return have to clean up feathers and other messes. The cherry tree is, of course, there, too. It's the big one opposite of the sitting area. It's started to become too big for all its pots and Shota makes sure to replant it annually so it can continue to grow and expand its roots. He's about to hit the maximum pot size, though. He doesn't know that he will, however. Yoru, her Dad, Hizashi, and Nemuri (the latter two often inviting themselves over to the Aizawa household) often spend their evenings outside in the sitting area if the temperature allows it. Shota's keeping a secret (he thinks it's secret) ashtray behind the big climbing support for the pipe wines close to the outdoor sitting area. On the left, in the corner (almost cut off from the image) is a little training equipment thing (can't remember the name of it).

The main area — entryway, side-genkan, guest bathroom, kitchen, dinner area, reading area, living room, Shota's work desk: Details: The cats have their food/water area on the floor in front of a kitchen counter. The big, unoccupied space between the kitchen/the entry area and the shelf with the green moss piece above it, is used for their workout/yoga/hand-to-hand combat training at home. There are a few trophies on the shelf — those are some of Yoru's trophies she won for dancing/ballet with her solos or her group. The chairs closest to the kitchen are deceiving: they only hold the weight of cats. Shota keeps on repairing them, but if a human sits on them — they break. They still serve a function, though (the cats can sit on them), so Shota sees absolutely no reason why they need to be repaired or replaced. It's not rational. Their guitars on the wall, next to the fireplace (which they barely ever use). The wall panels/boards on the wall opposite the couch and in the corner of Shota's work desk are for the cats to play on them. Shota took his video game console from the old apartment and brought it to the new one. Toshi and Yoru sometimes play on it, but Shota rarely has time anymore.

Main bathroom:

Details: Important — Do NOT flush the toilet without turning on the faucet first. While the toilet will flush and everything will… go away, new water will continue to come in while the water in the toilet bowl itself will not drain. It will overflow. As mentioned previously, the plumping in the building is old and doesn't always work. Yoru hates this and had to clean up clean toilet water more often than she can count. There's a fix, though: One of the tiles over the toilet can be removed. Behind it, is a very MacGyver-esque contraption: a plastic bottle held up with hemp strings and the pipes for the fresh toilet water. They need to be meddled with while flushing the toilet three times. Simultaneously, the faucet needs to run. It's a two-man job, which means Yoru can't secretly screw up the toilet and has to ask her Dad for help. He's not happy about the amount of times Yoru fucks it up, but helps nonetheless. Again, same with the chairs in the dining area: if used correctly, it's functional. So Shota doesn't see a need to fancy-fix it or call and pay a plumber to do it. He's still very frugal, and it's illogical to fix something that technically isn't broken if used correctly. Yoru strongly disagrees with her Dad's mindset here.
