other mother | stargirl
pairings: olga rios x teen!reader, alexia putellas x teen!reader, jenni hermoso x teen!reader
summary: jenni is in town and your closeness with her has olga feeling insecure as her position as your mother
notes: my inbox was flooded with people asking for this so here yall go 😀
Tumblr media
“It’s Jenni Day!” you cheered as you practically skipped down the stairs, nearly tripping over your own feet in excitement. The smell of your favorite omelet filled the air, and when you entered the kitchen, you saw Olga at the stove, expertly flipping an egg while Alexia sat at the breakfast bar, sipping her tea.
“Jenni Day, Jenni Day, Jenni Day!” You chanted, throwing in a dramatic spin before moonwalking across the kitchen floor.
Alexia chuckled, shaking her head at your antics. “I take it you’re excited?”
“Yes! Do you know why?” You grinned, pointing at her like a game show host about to reveal the grand prize. “Because it’s Jenni Day!”
You launched into another celebratory dance, arms flailing, feet shuffling, completely lost in your own little world. Alexia laughed into her tea, and even Olga cracked a smile as she plated your omelet.
“You have way too much energy this early,” Olga mused, setting your plate in front of you.
“Of course I do! Jenni is coming, and it’s been forever since I last saw her!” You threw yourself into the stool next to Alexia, bouncing in place. “We’re still going to the airport to pick her up, right?”
Alexia nodded. “That’s the plan.”
Before you could respond, a knock at the door interrupted the conversation. You frowned, confused, whoever was here was intruding on your special celebration.
Alexia stood to answer it, but the moment the door swung open, a familiar voice rang out.
“¡Mi pequeño diabla!” (My little devil)
Your eyes widened in pure joy. “Jenni!”
Without hesitation, you bolted from your seat, sprinting across the kitchen and launching yourself into her arms. Jenni caught you with ease, laughing as she lifted you off the ground and spun you in a circle.
“My diablita, look at you! Have you grown? Or am I just getting old?” she teased, pressing loud, exaggerated kisses all over your face.
You giggled, squeezing her tight. “You’re ancient, Jenni.”
She gasped, feigning offense. “¡Qué mala!” She set you down only for you to immediately latch onto her side, practically glued to her as you dragged her toward the breakfast bar.
“Okay, okay, come sit! I have so much to tell you!” You pulled her into the seat next to yours, eyes bright with excitement. “You missed so much! Oh my god, wait, did you see my last match? And also, you have to see this new trick I learned— oh! And guess what? I have a girlfriend now! Her name is Soleil, and she’s the best, and I need to show you pictures—”
Jenni listened with an amused smile, nodding along as you spoke a mile a minute, gesturing wildly with your hands.
Meanwhile, Olga, who had turned back to the stove, found herself oddly quiet. She glanced over her shoulder at the way you clung to Jenni, the way you looked at her like she hung the moon, and something inside her twisted.
She knew Jenni had been in your life for years, had played a huge role in your childhood, especially when she and Alexia had been together. She understood the excitement, the affection— but still, as she stood there, spatula in hand, watching you practically vibrate with happiness in Jenni’s arms, she couldn’t help but feel like she was standing on the outside looking in.
Alexia noticed the shift in Olga’s demeanor, the slight slump of her shoulders, the way she suddenly seemed overly focused on the eggs she was cooking.
“You okay?” Alexia murmured, nudging Olga gently.
Olga forced a small smile. “Yeah… just not used to being replaced so quickly.”
Alexia sighed, wrapping an arm around Olga’s waist and pressing a reassuring kiss to her temple. “She loves you, you know that.”
“I know,” Olga admitted. “But right now, I think I’m just the lady who made her breakfast.”
Before Alexia could respond, your voice rang out again.
“Olga, come sit with us!” You turned to her, waving her over with an enthusiastic hand. “You have to hear this story Jenni’s telling!”
Olga hesitated for a split second before schooling her expression, pushing aside the small pang of insecurity.
“Alright, alright, I’m coming,” she said, finally taking the empty seat next to you.
And when you instinctively reached for her hand, squeezing it without even looking as you continued talking to Jenni, Olga felt some of that uncertainty ease.
Tumblr media
The bell above the door chimed as you bounced into your favorite café, your hand wrapped around Soleil’s while Jenni strolled beside you, slinging an arm around your shoulders like she never left. Alexia and Olga trailed behind, already making their way to the counter to order drinks while you led Jenni and Soleil to a cozy booth near the window.
“You’re gonna love this place,” you told Jenni, excitement bubbling in your voice. “They have the best pastries, and they always write little messages on the coffee cups.”
Jenni smirked, sliding into the seat across from you and Soleil. “I trust your taste, mi diablita.”
You turned to Soleil, eyes sparkling. “I can’t believe I haven’t introduced you two sooner! Jenni basically helped raise me. Like, she taught me how to ride a bike, took me to all my first pro matches, and—” you leaned in, stage whispering—“everything I know about being a striker? All from her.”
Soleil smiled warmly, looking at Jenni with clear appreciation. “That explains why you’re such a menace on the field.”
Jenni grinned. “Ah, so you’ve witnessed her chaos firsthand.”
Soleil laughed. “Every day.”
You laughed too, leaning into Jenni’s side and hugging her tightly. “She’s the best, Sol. When Ale and Jenni were dating, she was always around, always looking out for me. And even after… you know, they broke up, she never disappeared. She’s family.”
Jenni pressed a fond kiss to your temple. “Always.”
Across the café, Olga stood in line, watching the interaction with a tightness in her chest she couldn’t quite shake. You were radiant, so full of joy, clinging to Jenni like she was your lifeline. The way you looked at her, the way you spoke about her, all of it made Olga’s stomach twist uncomfortably.
She knew Jenni had been a part of your life long before she had. She knew Jenni had played a big role in raising you. But knowing it and watching it were two different things.
Alexia, standing beside her, caught the shift in Olga’s expression immediately. Without hesitation, she bumped Olga’s shoulder gently. “You good, amor?”
Olga plastered on a small smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “Yeah, fine.”
Alexia didn’t buy it for a second. “You’re watching them like they just stole your puppy.”
Olga sighed, glancing away. “I just… she clearly loves Jenni. And I get it, Jenni was there when she was little, she taught her all these things, helped raise her—” she exhaled sharply— “but I’m supposed to be her mother now. And sometimes, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to fill that space the way Jenni did.”
Alexia frowned, reaching for Olga’s hand and squeezing it. “Olga, you are her mother. She chose you, we chose you. That doesn’t change just because she loves Jenni too.”
Olga’s grip tightened slightly, her jaw clenching. “I know, but it’s different. She looks at Jenni like she’s the person who made her who she is. I just… I don’t want to be second place in something that means everything to me.”
Olga’s fingers curled into fists at her sides as she watched you practically drape yourself over Jenni, your eyes shining with admiration as you told Soleil story after story about how Jenni had shaped you. Every time you hugged Jenni, every time you laughed at something she said, every time you looked at her like she was one of the most important people in your world— it chipped away at something deep inside Olga.
She wasn’t jealous, not exactly. It wasn’t that she wanted to erase Jenni’s role in your life. It was the fear that no matter how much time passed, no matter how much love she gave, no matter how fiercely she protected you, she would always be playing catch up to the people who had come before her.
Jenni had been there for your firsts. Your first bike ride, your first professional match, your first real football lessons. She had guided you, shaped you, made you into the player, and person, you were now. And Olga? She had come in when you were already a teenager, already formed, already carrying years of love for people who had been there long before she was.
Would you ever look at her the way you looked at Jenni? Would you ever talk about her like that, with that same effortless fondness, that same unshakable attachment? Or would she always be the afterthought, the one who came later, the one who did the daily work of being your mother but never quite felt like she had earned the title?
She tried to shake the thoughts away, but they stuck, clinging to her like wet clothes. The café was warm, but suddenly, she felt cold.
Tumblr media
The room was dark except for the dim glow of the bathroom light spilling in through the cracked door. The sound of running water filled the silence, Alexia still in the shower. You padded in quietly, rubbing your tired eyes, ready to burrow under the blankets and curl up against Olga like you did every night. But as you climbed onto the bed, something felt… off.
Olga was facing away from you, curled into herself, her shoulders rising and falling in uneven breaths. The second you got closer, you heard it— a soft sniff, barely audible, but enough to make your chest tighten.
“Olga?” you murmured, shifting closer, pressing against her back. “What’s wrong?”
She stiffened, wiping at her face quickly. “Nothing, nena. Just tired.”
Liar. You frowned, resting your chin on her shoulder. “You’re sniffling.”
She let out a shaky breath. “Allergies.”
You huffed. “You don’t have allergies.”
She didn’t say anything, just reached for your hand and squeezed it, like that would be enough to convince you she was fine. But you weren’t convinced. You could feel the sadness radiating off her, pressing into the space between you.
You lay there for a moment, racking your brain. What could’ve happened? She’d been fine earlier at the café. Or at least, she’d seemed fine. Maybe something happened after? You were deep in thought when you caught movement from the bathroom door.
Alexia had stepped out, her hair damp, her towel wrapped around her as she glanced at Olga and then at you. The moment you made eye contact, she raised her brows and nodded toward Olga, then dramatically mimicked wiping away tears.
You squinted at her. She nodded toward the door, signaling that she was leaving you to it, but not before she started her silent charades. She made a small motion, pointing at herself, then at Olga, then at you. Then she held up one finger. First? No. She repeated the movement, then mimed kicking a ball, then pointed at you again. Your brain worked through it. First. Football. You. It was about Jenni. Everything clicked at once, the way Olga had gone quiet while you were talking to Jenni, the way she lingered at the edge of the conversation instead of joining in. She was feeling insecure.
Alexia gave you a knowing look before slipping back into the bathroom, leaving you alone with Olga.
You exhaled softly, tightening your grip on her waist as you pressed your forehead against her shoulder. “Is this about Jenni?”
Olga’s breath hitched for a second before she let out a small laugh, watery and tired. “You’re too smart for your own good, you know that?”
You didn’t respond, just curled further into her, letting the silence settle before you spoke again. “Olga,” you started softly, “I need you to hear me, okay?”
She didn’t answer, but you could feel her breathing, steady but fragile, like she was waiting for you to say something that would make this ache in her chest go away.
You took a deep breath. “You are my mom.” You said it plainly, like it was the simplest truth in the world. “Jenni was there for me when I was a kid, yeah, and I’ll always love her for that, but that doesn’t take away from you. It never could.”
Olga stayed quiet, but you felt her relax just a little.
“You have been there for me in ways no one else has,” you continued. “You were there when I signed my first contract. You held my hand through that whole process because I was freaking out. You were there when I made my debut. You were the first person I looked for when I got subbed on. Do you know that?”
Olga swallowed. “Nena…”
“No, listen.” You sat up slightly, resting your weight on your elbow as you looked at her. “You were there the first time I got called up to the USWNT. You were there when I scored my first international goal, screaming like a crazy person in the stands. You were the one who stayed up with me when I had that awful stomach bug last year, even though you had training the next morning. You always carry snacks for me in your bag, you know exactly how I like my tea, you check in on me even when you’re halfway across the world.”
Olga wiped at her eyes, her lip trembling.
“You do all of that because you’re my mom, Mama.” Your voice softened. “You are the one who made me feel safe, who made me feel like I had a home, who made me believe that being loved wasn’t something I had to fight for.”
She let out a quiet sob, turning in your arms to pull you against her. You felt the dampness of her tears against your shirt as she buried her face in your shoulder, and you held her as tightly as she held you.
“I love you,” you whispered. “So much. I don’t care how many people were there before you, you are my mom. No one could ever replace you.”
Olga squeezed you impossibly tighter. “I love you too, mi niña.”
You stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, until the sound of Alexia clearing her throat from the bathroom doorway made you both look up.
“If you’re done making me cry from the other side of the door,” she said, voice thick with emotion, “can I get in on this cuddle session?”
You laughed, tugging Olga down with you as Alexia climbed into bed, wrapping an arm around both of you. And as you lay there, safe in the warmth of your family, you felt ii, Olga’s steady heartbeat beneath your palm, the rise and fall of her breath, the silent, unspoken promise that she was yours and you were hers, and that would never change.

The bustling chaos of the airport filled Y/n’s senses. She pulled her cap lower over her face and adjusted her sunglasses, hoping to slip past unnoticed. It was her first public appearance since announcing the cancellation of her engagement, and she knew the media frenzy that awaited her.
But the fans were relentless. As she walked toward the departure gate, a small crowd gathered around her, their voices overlapping in a cacophony of questions.
“Y/n! Is it true you and Seungcheol broke up because of Sewon?”
“Do you regret ending the engagement?”
“What happened between you and Seungcheol?”
Y/n stopped in her tracks, her heart pounding. She forced a calm expression, though her hands trembled as she gripped the strap of her bag.
“I’m sorry, but I won’t be answering any personal questions today,” she said firmly, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside.
The cameras continued to flash, and the murmurs grew louder, but Y/n kept walking. Her chest tightened with every step, each question cutting deeper than she cared to admit. By the time she reached her gate, she felt like she could barely breathe.
Finding a quiet corner, she slumped into a seat and closed her eyes, willing the tears to stay hidden. The echoes of the fans’ words lingered in her mind, reopening wounds she thought she had begun to heal. But as painful as it was, Y/n reminded herself why she had made the decision to walk away. It was for her own peace, her own worth things she refused to compromise any longer.
Seungcheol stared at his phone, his thumb hovering over Y/n’s contact. He had hesitated so many times before, unsure if she would even want to hear from him. But tonight, the emptiness in his apartment felt unbearable, and he couldn’t shake the need to hear her voice.
Taking a deep breath, he pressed the call button. The line rang, each tone dragging out the silence he dreaded. Finally, the call went to voicemail.
“Hey, Y/n,” he began, his voice low and uncertain. “It’s me. I… I just wanted to check on you. I know I don’t have the right to ask, but I hope you’re doing okay. I miss you."
He paused, the words catching in his throat.
“I… I’m sorry for everything. I hope someday we can talk. Take care, Y/n.”
Ending the call, Seungcheol let out a shaky breath and set the phone down. The emptiness lingered, but for the first time, he felt a flicker of hope—however small—that things might one day be different.
A day later, Seungcheol sat in front of his phone camera, his expression a mix of determination and vulnerability. He had debated for hours about making this video, but the backlash Y/n was facing left him no choice.
Pressing record, he took a deep breath and began to speak.
“Hi, this is Seungcheol. I know a lot has been said and speculated about my relationship with Y/n and the engagement we ended. I want to start by saying that Y/n has always been someone I deeply respect and care for. The decision we made to part ways was mutual, and it was a deeply personal matter.”
He paused, his eyes glancing down briefly before returning to the camera. “But what I cannot stand by and watch is the way she’s being harassed and blamed. Y/n does not deserve the hate or the accusations being thrown at her. She made the decision that was best for her, and I respect that wholeheartedly.”
Seungcheol leaned forward slightly, his tone growing firmer. “I also want to address the rumors about Sewon. She is a friend, nothing more. Any assumptions beyond that are untrue and have caused unnecessary pain to everyone involved.”
He exhaled slowly, as if releasing the weight of his words. “I’m asking, sincerely, for everyone to stop harassing Y/n. She deserves peace and privacy, just as any of us do. Please be kind. Thank you.”
With that, he ended the recording and uploaded the video, hoping it would help ease the storm Y/n was facing. As he sat back, he realized that while he couldn’t undo the past, he could at least try to make things right in the present.
Two days later, Seungcheol found himself dialing Y/n’s number once again. To his surprise, this time, she answered.
“Hello?” Y/n’s voice was calm but distant, guarded.
“Y/n,” Seungcheol said, his voice heavy with emotion. “Thank you for answering. I just… I needed to talk to you.”
She remained silent, and he took it as his cue to continue. “I know I hurt you. I know I let you down in ways I can’t even begin to make up for. But I want you to know how sorry I am. Truly. You didn’t deserve any of this—the doubts, the pain, the public scrutiny. None of it.”
“Seungcheol,” she interrupted, her tone sharp yet composed. “I didn’t answer this call to hear your apology. I’ve heard it before. What I needed from you was action, not words. And you failed me when it mattered most.”
He swallowed hard, the weight of her words cutting through him. “I know. I just… I hoped there might be a way to fix this. To fix us.”
“There’s no fixing this,” Y/n said firmly. “Not anymore. I gave everything to this relationship, and I lost myself in the process. I won’t do that again.”
Her words were final, and Seungcheol felt his chest tighten. “I understand,” he said quietly. “I just want you to be happy, Y/n. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“I hope you find happiness too,” she replied
Three years ago
Under the bright lights of Y/n’s solo concert, Seungcheol and the members of Seventeen stood backstage, waiting for the show to begin. The crowd’s energy was electric, and their excitement mirrored the audience’s.
When Y/n finally took the stage, she owned it. Her presence was magnetic, her voice captivating as she performed with a passion that seemed to radiate beyond the stage. Seungcheol found himself mesmerized, his admiration growing with every song.
“She’s incredible,” Jeonghan whispered, nudging him. “No wonder everyone’s in love with her.”
Seungkwan nodded enthusiastically. “She’s not just talented; she’s got this aura. It’s impossible not to admire her.”
As Y/n finished her set and thanked the audience, her smile was radiant, lighting up the entire arena. Seungcheol couldn’t help but feel a spark of something deeper—a connection he couldn’t quite explain.
When they were finally introduced backstage, Y/n was gracious and warm despite the exhaustion evident in her eyes. She greeted each member with genuine kindness, and when her gaze met Seungcheol’s, he felt his heart skip a beat.
“You were amazing out there,” he said, his voice steady despite the nervous flutter in his chest.
“Thank you,” she replied, her smile soft and sincere. “I’ve heard so much about you and your group. It’s an honor to finally meet you all.”
That night, Seungcheol found himself lingering after the others had left, gathering the courage to speak again. “Y/n,” he began, his voice quieter this time, “I was wondering… if you’d like to grab coffee sometime. Just us.”
Her eyebrows rose slightly, surprise flickering across her face. Then, she smiled—a real, genuine smile that made his heart race. “I’d like that,” she said simply.
And so, it began. Coffee turned into late-night conversations, shared laughter, and a deep bond that grew stronger with each passing day. For Seungcheol, falling in love with Y/n was as natural as breathing, and in her presence, he felt like he had found a kindred spirit. The world seemed brighter, and the burdens of their demanding careers felt lighter when they were together.
Though their love story had its share of challenges, those early days were a reminder of the connection that had once brought them so much joy. And even now, as Seungcheol reflected on everything they had lost, he couldn’t help but cherish the moments that had made him fall in love with her in the first place.
As their coffee meetings turned into a weekly ritual, Seungcheol found himself looking forward to those moments more than anything else. Y/n had a way of making him laugh, even on his worst days. She listened intently, offering advice when he needed it and silence when words weren’t enough.
One evening, after a particularly long day of rehearsals, Seungcheol showed up at their favorite cafe, his exhaustion evident. Y/n noticed immediately and pushed a steaming cup of tea toward him.
“You look like you’ve been through a war,” she teased gently.
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “Something like that. But seeing you makes it all worth it.”
Her cheeks flushed, but she hid it behind her own cup. “Flattery will get you nowhere, Choi Seungcheol.”
“Oh, I don’t know,” he replied with a playful smirk. “It got me here with you, didn’t it?”
Their banter flowed effortlessly, the connection between them growing deeper with every interaction. Over time, Seungcheol began to realize that Y/n wasn’t just someone he admired—she was someone he wanted by his side, through every high and low.
One night, as they walked along a quiet street after another coffee date, Seungcheol stopped abruptly. Y/n turned to him, puzzled.
“What is it?” she asked.
He hesitated, his heart pounding. Then, he took a deep breath. “Y/n, I know we’ve only been seeing each other for a short time, but… I like you. A lot. And I was wondering if you’d give us a chance—like, a real chance.”
Y/n stared at him, her expression unreadable. For a moment, he feared he had ruined everything. But then she smiled, her eyes softening.
“I’d like that,” she said simply.
Relief and joy washed over Seungcheol, and without thinking, he reached for her hand. She didn’t pull away. Instead, she squeezed his hand gently, and they continued walking, their steps perfectly in sync.
It was the beginning of a love story that would change both of their lives forever.
Three years into their relationship, Seungcheol knew he couldn’t wait any longer. He wanted Y/n to know how deeply she meant to him and how much he wanted to build a future together. With the help of the Seventeen members, he meticulously planned the proposal.
The venue was a private rooftop garden, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and surrounded by blooming flowers. It was the same place they had shared their first late-night conversation about their dreams and fears. Seungcheol wanted the moment to feel intimate, just as their relationship had always been—a sanctuary from the chaotic world around them.
Y/n arrived at the venue under the pretense of a casual date. As she stepped onto the rooftop, her breath hitched at the sight before her. A path lined with candles led to Seungcheol, who stood waiting under an arch draped in soft, white fabric and flowers.
He smiled nervously as she approached, his hands clasped tightly in front of him. “You’re here,” he said, his voice tinged with both excitement and nerves.
“What is all this?” she asked, her eyes glimmering with curiosity and emotion.
Taking a deep breath, Seungcheol dropped to one knee, pulling out a small velvet box from his pocket. Y/n gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as tears welled in her eyes.
“Y/n,” he began, his voice steady despite the pounding of his heart. “From the moment I met you, you turned my world upside down in the best way possible. You’ve been my rock, my partner, and my greatest love. Every day with you feels like a gift, and I can’t imagine my life without you by my side.”
He opened the box, revealing a delicate ring that sparkled under the soft glow of the lights. “Will you marry me?” he asked, his eyes searching hers.
Tears streamed down Y/n’s face as she nodded, unable to find the words. “Yes,” she finally managed to say, her voice breaking. “A thousand times yes.”
Seungcheol stood, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a tight embrace. The sound of soft applause broke out as the Seventeen members emerged from their hiding spots, cheering and congratulating the newly engaged couple.
The night was filled with laughter, love, and promises for the future. For Seungcheol and Y/n, it was a moment they would treasure forever—a testament to the love that had grown between them, steady and unwavering, through every challenge and triumph.
But as the weeks passed, cracks began to appear in their seemingly perfect engagement. It started when Seungcheol grew closer to Sewon, a fellow idol he had known for years. Initially, Y/n didn’t mind; she trusted Seungcheol and knew how important friendships were in their industry. But gradually, his priorities seemed to shift.
Missed calls, delayed responses, and canceled plans became more frequent. Whenever Y/n tried to address the issue, Seungcheol brushed it off, claiming he was busy with group schedules and projects. However, Y/n couldn’t ignore the pattern: most of his excuses coincided with him spending time with Sewon.
One evening, after yet another postponed dinner, Y/n decided to confront him. She waited for him in their shared apartment, her heart heavy with unease. When he finally walked through the door, his tired expression did little to soften her resolve.
“Seungcheol, we need to talk,” she said firmly.
He sighed, dropping his bag onto the couch. “Can it wait? I’m exhausted.”
“No, it can’t,” she replied, her voice trembling slightly. “You’ve been distant lately, and I feel like I’m not even a priority anymore. What’s going on?”
He rubbed his temples, frustration flickering across his face. “Y/n, I told you, it’s just work. You know how demanding our schedules are.”
“Is it work?” she pressed, her eyes searching his. “Or is it Sewon?”
At her words, Seungcheol’s expression hardened. “Why are you bringing her into this? She’s just a friend.”
“Then why do I feel like I’m competing with her for your attention?” Y/n’s voice cracked, the pain she had been suppressing spilling out. “You cancel our plans to meet her, you talk about her all the time, and you don’t even see how it’s affecting us.”
“You’re overthinking this,” he snapped, his tone sharper than he intended. “Sewon has nothing to do with us. You’re making a big deal out of nothing.”
Y/n took a step back, stunned by his dismissiveness. “Nothing?” she echoed, her voice barely above a whisper. “Do you even hear yourself, Seungcheol? I’ve tried to be patient, to understand, but I can’t keep pretending that everything’s fine when it’s not.”
He looked away, his jaw tightening. “I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“I want you to choose us,” she said, tears streaming down her face. “But it feels like you’ve already made your choice.”
The room fell silent, the weight of her words hanging heavily between them. Seungcheol opened his mouth to respond but stopped himself. Instead, he turned and walked toward the bedroom, leaving Y/n standing alone in the living room, her heart breaking.
The days that followed were filled with strained conversations and unspoken tension. Y/n tried to hold on, hoping that Seungcheol would realize what was at stake, but his continued indifference only deepened the rift between them. Meanwhile, the rumors about him and Sewon began to spread, fueled by fan speculation and media reports.
Y/n found herself caught in a storm of doubt and heartbreak, unsure of how to salvage a relationship that seemed to be slipping through her fingers. And as much as she loved Seungcheol, she couldn’t ignore the growing feeling that she was fighting for something he no longer valued.
One rainy afternoon, Y/n received a message from Seungcheol, asking to meet at a small café they used to frequent during the early days of their relationship. Despite her reservations, she agreed, hoping for clarity amidst the chaos.
As she entered the café, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of soft jazz music greeted her. Seungcheol was already there, sitting at a corner table, his hands wrapped around a steaming mug. His eyes lit up when he saw her, but there was a hesitance in his gaze.
“Thanks for coming,” he said as she sat down across from him.
Y/n nodded, folding her hands on the table. “What did you want to talk about?”
Seungcheol sighed, his fingers fidgeting with the edge of his mug. “I’ve been thinking a lot about us… about everything.”
“And?” Y/n prompted, her heart pounding in anticipation.
“I don’t think I’m ready for marriage,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I thought I was, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I’m too young. There’s so much going on in my career, and I feel like I’m being pulled in so many directions.”
Y/n stared at him, her chest tightening. “Why didn’t you tell me this sooner? Before proposing?”
“I thought I could handle it,” he said, his eyes filled with regret. “I thought my love for you would be enough to overcome everything else. But now, I’m not so sure.”
Her lips trembled as she spoke. “Do you even want to be with me, Seungcheol? Or am I just another thing you’re unsure about?”
“Of course I want to be with you,” he said quickly, reaching across the table for her hand. She pulled away, shaking her head.
“You can’t have it both ways,” she said, her voice breaking. “You can’t ask me to commit my life to you while you’re unsure about yours.”
Her voice was sharper now, the edge of frustration cutting through. “Is it about Sewon?”
Seungcheol’s silence spoke louder than words. Sewon’s name had become a sore point between them in recent months. A close friend and fellow idol, her bond with Seungcheol had always been evident. While Y/n had trusted him implicitly, the whispers of fans and the media began to seep into her mind, planting seeds of doubt.
“She’s just a friend,” he said, but his tone lacked conviction. “You know that.”
“Do I?” Y/n’s voice cracked, betraying the pain she had tried so hard to mask. “Do you realize how it feels to constantly see her by your side, laughing with you, leaning on you? And the worst part? You’ve never once tried to reassure me."
Seungcheol reached across the table, his hand hovering over hers. “I never meant to hurt you. You have to believe me.”
“Then why does it feel like I’m the only one fighting for this relationship?” She pulled her hand away, tears threatening to spill. “We’re supposed to be partners, Seungcheol. But lately, it feels like I’m competing for your attention.”
“Maybe… maybe we need some time apart,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Y/n felt her heart shatter. The engagement ring on her finger suddenly felt like a burden, its brilliance mocking her pain. She slipped it off and placed it on the table between them.
“If that’s what you want,” she said, her voice steady despite the storm raging inside her. “Then I won’t stop you.”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, tears brimming in his eyes. “I never wanted to hurt you.”
Y/n felt her heart shatter. The engagement ring on her finger suddenly felt like a burden, its brilliance mocking her pain. She slipped it off and placed it on the table between them.
Y/n stood, her chair scraping against the floor. “You already have.” Without another word, she walked out of the café, leaving Seungcheol sitting alone, the weight of his choices pressing down on him like never before.
*Flashback ends*
In the weeks that followed, Y/n channeled her heartbreak into her music. Late nights in the studio became her solace as she poured her emotions into lyrics and melodies. Each song she wrote was raw and vulnerable, capturing the pain, confusion, and longing she felt.
When her album was released, it became an instant hit, resonating with fans and critics alike. Tracks like "Falling Out of Love" and "Shadows of Us" topped the charts, their haunting lyrics striking a chord with listeners. In interviews, Y/n remained composed, describing the album as a reflection of her personal journey but never delving into specific details about her relationship with Seungcheol.
One particular song, "Unspoken Goodbye," drew widespread attention. Its lyrics painted a vivid picture of unreciprocated efforts and the ache of realizing love wasn’t enough to hold two people together.
“I reached for you in the dark, but you were already gone. Promises turned to whispers, and now I sing alone.”
Fans speculated endlessly, piecing together clues from the lyrics and her recent public appearances. Some sympathized with her, while others continued to draw comparisons between her and Sewon, fueling debates online.
Through it all, Y/n remained focused on her craft, using her art to heal. Though her heart was still mending, her music gave her
Months after the release, Y/n was invited for an exclusive interview with a renowned media outlet. The interviewer, known for their probing questions, eventually brought up the topic that many were curious about.
“How do you feel about Seungcheol now?” they asked, leaning forward slightly. “After everything that’s happened, do you still think about him?”
Y/n paused, her hands resting gently on her lap as she considered her words. She met the interviewer’s gaze, her expression calm but tinged with melancholy. “A piece of my heart will always love him,” she admitted, her voice steady but soft. “I could never hate him. He was a significant part of my life, and what we shared was real and meaningful.”
She took a deep breath before continuing. “It hurts me to see him getting hurt. Despite everything, I don’t wish pain or hardship upon him. I think that’s what love truly is—wanting the best for someone, even if they’re no longer in your life.”
Her candid response resonated with fans and viewers alike, painting a picture of grace and emotional maturity. It reminded everyone that even in heartbreak, love could leave behind a legacy of compassion and understanding.
Seungcheol watched the interview late at night, alone in his apartment. Her words echoed in his mind, filling him with a mix of regret and longing. The song, the interview, everything she had shared publicly—it all made him realize just how deeply he had hurt her and how much he missed having her in his life.
On an impulse, he picked up his phone and dialed her number. It rang twice before she answered, her voice cautious. “Hello?”
“Y/n, it’s me,” he said, his voice trembling slightly. “I—I saw the interview. And the song. I just… I needed to tell you how sorry I am. For everything.”
She was silent for a moment before responding. “Seungcheol, we’ve already been through this. I’ve moved on, and you should too.”
“I know I messed up,” he said desperately. “But seeing you, hearing your words—it reminded me of everything we had. I miss you, Y/n. I miss us.”
Her voice remained calm but firm. “You miss what we had, Seungcheol, but that doesn’t change what you did. You made choices that hurt me deeply, and I can’t just forget that.”
“I’ll do anything to make it right,” he pleaded. “Please, just give me another chance.”
She sighed softly, her tone filled with a mixture of sadness and finality. “Sometimes, love isn’t enough. I’ll always wish the best for you, but I can’t go back to the way things were. Take care of yourself, Seungcheol.”
Before he could say anything else, she ended the call, leaving him staring at his phone, the weight of her words sinking in. For the first time, he truly understood that some things, no matter how much he wished otherwise, couldn’t be undone.
Months passed, and Y/n eventually entered a new relationship. Her new boyfriend was kind, understanding, and patient—everything she thought she needed to heal. On the surface, they seemed happy together, and the public saw it as her fresh start.
But deep down, Y/n couldn’t shake the emptiness she felt. The laughter didn’t feel as genuine, the conversations didn’t spark the same warmth, and despite her efforts to move on, her heart still ached for the love she had lost.
She found herself reminiscing about Seungcheol more often than she cared to admit—his bright smile, the way he always made her feel safe, the late-night talks where they dreamed about their future together. No matter how hard she tried to deny it, a part of her still belonged to him.
And no matter how much she wanted to forget, she couldn’t.
One evening, Y/n took the stage at a major rock festival, her energy electrifying the crowd. She had always loved experimenting with different genres, and this performance was one of her most powerful yet—raw, intense, and full of emotion. She poured her heart into every note, her voice carrying the weight of everything she had been through.
Backstage, her old friend Seungkwan watched from the wings, deeply moved by her performance. He had always been close to Y/n and seeing her like this—fierce yet fragile—made him realize how much she was still hurting.
Unable to ignore it any longer, he reached out to Seungcheol. “Hyung, you need to come see her. You need to hear her.”
Despite his initial hesitation, Seungcheol agreed. The two arrived at the concert venue unnoticed, blending into the sea of fans as Y/n performed.
Seungcheol’s heart clenched as he watched her under the bright lights, singing her heart out. He could feel her pain in every lyric, see the lingering sadness in her eyes. It was a painful reminder of everything they had lost.
And in that moment, he realized—he had never stopped loving her.
The moment Y/n stepped off the stage, her adrenaline was still pumping. The roar of the crowd echoed in her ears, but even their deafening cheers couldn’t drown out the heaviness in her heart. She barely had time to catch her breath before a familiar voice cut through the haze.
“Y/n.”
She froze.
That voice. That tone.
She turned slowly, her eyes widening as she met Seungcheol’s gaze. He stood just a few feet away, his expression unreadable, but his eyes—those same eyes she once drowned in—were filled with something raw. Something she wasn’t ready to face.
Before she could say a word, her boyfriend Minseong appeared by her side, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Hey, is everything okay?” he asked, glancing between Y/n and Seungcheol.
The tension was suffocating. The members of Seventeen and her own group lingered nearby, uneasy, unsure if they should step in.
Seungcheol let out a bitter chuckle, shoving his hands into his pockets. “So this is him?” His voice was sharp, edged with something close to resentment. “The guy you moved on with?”
Y/n’s jaw clenched. “Cheol—”
“Did he ever make your heart race the way I did?” Seungcheol asked, his voice rising. “Or did you just force yourself to move on because you were scared?”
The room fell silent.
Y/n took a shaky breath, her eyes burning. “You don’t get to do this,” she snapped. “You don’t get to walk back into my life after all this time and question my choices. You were the one who let me go.”
Seungcheol stepped closer, his frustration bubbling over. “Let you go? Y/n, you walked away!” His voice cracked slightly, and for a moment, the anger wavered, revealing the hurt beneath. “You left me. And now you’re here, acting like none of it meant anything?”
“It meant everything,” she shot back, her voice trembling. “And that’s exactly why I had to leave.”
Her boyfriend shifted awkwardly beside her. “Maybe we should talk about this later—”
“No.” Y/n shook her head, eyes locked onto Seungcheol. “You don’t get to stand here and act like you’re the only one who suffered. Do you think it was easy for me? Do you think I didn’t spend nights wondering if I made the right choice?”
Seungcheol’s breath hitched.
Y/n’s hands balled into fists. “I waited, Cheol. I waited for you to fight for me, to give me a reason to stay. But you didn’t. You let me leave. So don’t you dare show up now, acting like you still have a say in my life.”
Seungcheol stared at her, chest rising and falling with the weight of everything he wanted to say. The members of Seventeen shifted uneasily, exchanging glances.
Seungkwan finally stepped in, his voice gentle but firm. “Hyung, maybe this isn’t the right time—”
But Seungcheol ignored him. His eyes stayed on Y/n, desperate, pleading. “Tell me one thing,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “Are you really happy?”
Y/n faltered.
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
And in that silence, Seungcheol got his answer.
The morning after the heated confrontation backstage, the internet was in chaos. News outlets, gossip sites, and social media platforms were flooded with headlines, each twisting the story in its own way.
"Y/n and Seungcheol's Backstage Clash: Former Lovers Turn to Heated Argument at Music Festival!"
"Caught on Camera: Y/n and Seungcheol's Explosive Fight – Tensions Boil Over in Front of Seventeen and Industry Insiders!"
"Seungcheol Confronts Y/n Over Their Past – Did She Ever Move On?"
Fan-recorded videos from the concert venue circulated online, showing snippets of their intense exchange. Though no official statement had been released, lip readers and “insiders” claimed to have deciphered the argument. The drama escalated as netizens took sides.
🗣️ "Y/n deserves to move on. Seungcheol had his chance, why is he acting up now?"
🗣️ "You can literally see the pain in Seungcheol's face... he's still in love with her."
🗣️ "Not Seungcheol pulling a ‘are you really happy?’ moment like it’s a K-drama 😭😭"
🗣️ "Her new boyfriend just standing there while Y/n and Seungcheol basically confess their unresolved feelings 💀"
Within hours, major entertainment news outlets picked up the story. Some reporters speculated on whether the ex-couple had lingering feelings, while others accused Seungcheol of being possessive. Articles broke down the timeline of their past relationship, analyzing every interaction they’d had in public since their breakup.
A particularly viral article from Dispatch read:
"Inside Y/n and Seungcheol’s Emotional Backstage Confrontation: A Love That Never Faded?"
"Sources close to the artists claim that the fight was years in the making. ‘They never fully moved on from each other,’ an anonymous staff member revealed. ‘Everyone knew there was unfinished business between them.’"
Another gossip site went even further:
"Did Y/n Settle for a ‘Safe’ Relationship? Fans Speculate That Her New Boyfriend is Just a Rebound!"
Y/n’s company quickly released a short statement:
"Y/n had a private conversation with a colleague. We ask for your understanding and request that unfounded speculations be avoided."
But Seungcheol’s company remained silent, fueling more rumors. Some fans believed it was because he had nothing to deny.
Meanwhile, Seventeen’s members were being bombarded with questions during schedules. Seungkwan, who had been there that night, looked visibly uncomfortable when asked about it during a live stream.
“Ah… it’s not my place to say anything,” he murmured, avoiding eye contact with the camera. “I just hope people don’t believe everything they read online.”
Three days after the backstage altercation between Y/n and Seungcheol shook the internet, the idol finally addressed the controversy.
At midnight, Seungcheol went live on Weverse, looking visibly tired. Dressed in a simple hoodie and cap, he sighed before speaking, his voice softer than usual.
“First of all, I want to sincerely apologize to the fans,” he began, his fingers laced together as he bowed slightly. “I never wanted to cause a scandal or bring unnecessary attention to anyone, especially Y/n. That night… things got emotional, and I let my feelings get the best of me.”
He paused, exhaling shakily. “I know many of you have seen the videos and read the articles. There’s no excuse for what happened. It was a private conversation that, unfortunately, became very public. And for that, I take full responsibility.”
His eyes flickered with emotion as he hesitated before continuing. “I also won’t lie to you. The truth is… I never stopped caring about Y/n.”
The comment section exploded instantly.
Seungcheol swallowed hard, his hands slightly shaking. “I don’t expect anything to change. She has her own life now, and I respect that. But I also don’t want to pretend anymore.”
💬 “DID HE JUST CONFESS???”
💬 “Wait wait wait HOLD ON.”
💬 “HE STILL LOVES HER??? SEUNGCHEOL WTF”
💬 “Someone check on Y/n’s boyfriend bc there’s no way he’s okay rn 💀”
“I loved her. I still do. And that’s something I can’t hide, no matter how much time passes.”
A heavy silence filled the air. The weight of his confession was undeniable.
“I don’t regret what we had, and I will always be grateful for the memories. But I also know that some things… can’t be undone,” he murmured. “No matter what happens, I just want her to be happy.”
He looked straight into the camera. “To the fans who were disappointed in me, I’m sorry. To Y/n, if you ever see this… I’m sorry for putting you through this again.”
With one final bow, he ended the live.
But the internet was just getting started.
Within minutes, hashtags like #SeungcheolApologizes, #CheolStillLovesY/n, and #Y/nResponseWhen? trended worldwide. Fans were divided—some heartbroken over his pain, others hopeful that this was the beginning of something new.
A few days after Seungcheol’s confession sent the internet into a frenzy, Seungkwan found himself standing outside Y/n’s apartment, nervously shifting on his feet. He had sent her a text earlier, asking if he could talk, and to his surprise, she had agreed.
When the door finally opened, Y/n stood there, arms crossed, an unreadable expression on her face. She looked tired—exhausted, really. And Seungkwan hated knowing that he had contributed to it.
She stepped aside, allowing him in without a word. He hesitated for a second before walking inside, the air between them thick with unspoken tension.
Taking a deep breath, Seungkwan turned to face her. “Y/n, I… I’m so sorry.” His voice was barely above a whisper.
She raised an eyebrow. “For what exactly?”
His stomach twisted. He knew she wasn’t making it easy for him—and honestly, he deserved it.
“For dragging Seungcheol to your concert,” he admitted, guilt evident in his voice. “I thought I was helping. I thought if he saw you, if he heard you sing, he’d finally get some closure. I never meant for things to spiral like this.”
Y/n let out a dry chuckle, shaking her head. “Closure?” She scoffed. “Seungkwan, I was finally starting to move on, and now look at this mess. Do you know how many headlines I’ve had to ignore? How many people have been asking me about my relationship, about Seungcheol, about us?”
Seungkwan lowered his head, shame washing over him. “I know. And I can’t tell you how sorry I am for putting you through this again. I never wanted to make things harder for you.”
She studied him for a moment before sighing. “I know you didn’t mean to hurt me,” she said, voice softer now. “But you should have stayed out of it, Seungkwan. It wasn’t your place to interfere.”
Seungkwan swallowed hard. “I get that now. And if I could take it all back, I would.” His voice cracked slightly. “I just—seeing you like that on stage, I knew you were still hurting. And I saw how much hyung was struggling too. I thought… maybe, deep down, you both just needed a push.”
Y/n’s shoulders slumped, and for the first time, Seungkwan saw the raw emotion in her eyes. “You don’t think I know that?” she whispered. “You don’t think I’ve spent every single day wondering if I made the right choice?”
His breath hitched.
“I still love him, Seungkwan,” she admitted, the words hanging heavy in the air. “But that doesn’t mean we can go back to how things were.”
Seungkwan felt his chest tighten. He had hoped—prayed—that maybe, just maybe, things would fall back into place. But Y/n’s expression told him everything he needed to know.
“I get it,” he murmured. “And I swear, I won’t interfere anymore.” He looked at her with sincerity. “I just want you to be happy, Y/n. Whether that’s with Seungcheol or not.”
For the first time that night, Y/n’s expression softened.
“I know,” she said. “And I appreciate that.”
The tension between them eased, just slightly. And as Seungkwan left that night, he hoped—more than anything—that one day, Y/n and Seungcheol would find the happiness they both deserved.
The buzz surrounding Y/n and Seungcheol hadn’t died down, and after weeks of speculation, Y/n finally agreed to an exclusive interview. It wasn’t to explain herself, nor was it to address the scandal directly—she simply wanted to remind the world who she was beyond the drama.
Sitting across from the interviewer in a beautifully lit studio, Y/n looked poised and elegant, her aura calm despite the chaos that had surrounded her lately.
Halfway through the interview, the inevitable question came.
“Y/n, with everything that has happened recently, I think what everyone wants to know is… are you happy?”
The studio fell into silence, and for a moment, Y/n only blinked, as if carefully choosing her words. The interviewer watched her expectantly, and fans watching from behind their screens held their breath.
Then, Y/n smiled—not forced, not hesitant, but genuine.
“I am happy,” she answered simply, nodding. “I have people around me who love and support me. I’m doing what I love. I’m growing, learning, and becoming a better version of myself every day.”
She paused, her fingers gently running along the armrest of her chair. “I think happiness isn’t just about one person, or one moment. It’s about finding peace within yourself, no matter what’s happening around you.”
Her words sent waves across social media. Some fans cheered her on, proud of her strength, while others couldn’t help but read between the lines.
No matter how people interpreted it, one thing was clear—Y/n wasn’t letting the past define her anymore.
💬 “She didn’t say she moved on. She said she’s happy… but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him anymore.”
💬 “If she’s happy, then that’s all that matters. She deserves it.”
💬 “So this is really the end for her and Seungcheol?”
💬 “What if she’s saying this to convince herself? She looked kind of sad for a second.”
And whether Seungcheol was part of her future or not… that was a story only time would tell.
Just when the internet was beginning to settle down after Y/n’s interview, a single post sent fans into a frenzy once again.
Late at night, Y/n’s boyfriend uploaded a picture to his Instagram story—an intimate yet casual shot of him and Y/n. She was leaning against him, laughing softly, while he had his arm draped over her shoulders.
But what truly set the internet ablaze was the caption.
"Thanks for letting her go."
Within minutes, screenshots flooded Twitter, Instagram, and online forums. Fans and netizens had mixed reactions—some supporting the new relationship, others furious over what they saw as an unnecessary dig at Seungcheol.
It didn’t take long before Seungcheol’s name began trending again, fans anxiously waiting to see if he would respond.
💬 “OHHHHH HE’S PETTY FOR THAT 😭”
💬 “No way he actually posted this 💀💀💀”
💬 “Seungcheol, don’t look at your phone bro.”
💬 “He really said ‘I won.’ But did he, though?”
💬 “This feels kinda insecure… if you’re happy, why throw shade?”
💬 “Y/n deserves to be happy, but this caption was not it.”
However, Seungcheol remained completely silent. No statements. No cryptic posts. No subtle likes or unlikes.
Following the viral Instagram story from Y/n’s new boyfriend, media outlets wasted no time in picking up the drama. Within hours, headlines flooded every major entertainment site, further fueling the ongoing controversy.

The articles analyzed every angle of the situation—some supporting Y/n’s boyfriend, claiming he had every right to express his love publicly, while others criticized him for being unnecessarily petty.
One report even included insights from an anonymous industry insider:
"It’s no secret that Seungcheol and Y/n had a deep history. For a new boyfriend to make such a statement so publicly… it seems more like a declaration of victory than genuine love. Fans are divided, and understandably so."
Online discussions became more heated, with netizens and fans picking sides.
After days of silence, Seungcheol finally broke his silence—and he did it in the most Seungcheol way possible.
💬 “I mean… he’s not wrong, Seungcheol DID let her go.”
💬 “There was no need for this. If he was confident in their relationship, he wouldn’t have posted that.”
💬 “Is Y/n okay with this? She’s been trying to move on peacefully.”
💬 “This is getting so messy. I just want all of them to be happy.”
During SEVENTEEN’s sold-out concert, emotions were already running high, but no one expected the leader to address the controversy head-on.
Right before launching into a rap solo, Seungcheol took a deep breath, smirked slightly, and let the mic drop to his side for a second. The crowd fell silent, sensing something was about to go down.
Then, he looked out at the audience and said, “Someone decided to run their mouth… but I can’t just let that go, right?”
The stadium erupted in screams.
Without missing a beat, the beat dropped, and Seungcheol spit bars sharper than knives, delivering what fans immediately recognized as a freestyle diss aimed directly at Y/n’s boyfriend.
“You think you won, but why you still talkin’?
Got my leftovers, but you’re still stalkin’.
Holdin’ her hand, but you checkin’ my page—
You insecure, man, just stay in your lane.
The crowd went wild, some covering their mouths in shock while others jumped, hyped at the unexpected callout. Seungcheol didn’t stop there. He ended the rap with one last line that sent chills through the venue:
Talkin’ like you won but you don’t know the game,
She’s not a trophy, she don’t need a new name.
You flex online but we know it’s pretend,
If you gotta talk about me, are you really her man?”
“Real love don’t need a caption, it just stays.”

Meanwhile, Y/n’s boyfriend remained silent on social media. No response. No clapback.
Because at that moment, Seungcheol had already won the battle without even trying.
The K-pop world is ablaze once again as Seungcheol's recent concert performance has sparked a fresh wave of controversy.

The reaction online was immediate:
One industry insider told Dispatch:
"Seungcheol is known for writing deeply personal lyrics, but this performance felt different. It was raw and deliberate—he knew exactly what he was doing."
Neither Seungcheol nor his agency released an official statement, but fans noticed that SEVENTEEN’s official social media accounts carefully avoided posting clips from that performance—further fueling the speculation.
💬 "He didn’t even name-drop, but we all know who he’s talking about."

Meanwhile, Y/n’s boyfriend remained silent on the matter, with some fans calling his Instagram caption “the worst mistake of his life.”
As the drama unfolds, all eyes are now on Y/n, waiting to see if she will respond—or if she’ll continue to rise above the storm swirling around her.
After the chaos from Seungcheol’s viral rap performance, Y/n couldn’t stay silent any longer.
Furious over the public spectacle he made, she reached out to him directly—and it wasn’t a pleasant conversation.
The tension was thick the moment he answered.
“What the hell was that, Seungcheol?” Y/n snapped, skipping past pleasantries. “Did you really have to turn this into a public mess?”
Seungcheol sighed, already anticipating this reaction. “I didn’t mention anyone’s name.”
“Don’t play dumb!” Her voice was sharp with frustration. “You knew exactly what you were doing! You turned this into a damn spectacle, and now everyone is talking about it.”
Seungcheol, still heated from everything that had happened, scoffed. “Oh, but your boyfriend’s post wasn’t a spectacle? He went out of his way to take a shot at me, and I was just supposed to stay quiet?”
Y/n exhaled sharply, her patience wearing thin. “You don’t have to stoop to his level! Do you even realize what you’ve done? Fans are eating this up, and now it looks like some childish feud. And me? I’m stuck in the middle of it.”
Seungcheol was silent for a moment before he muttered, “He started it.”
Y/n let out a humorless laugh. “Oh, grow up, Seungcheol. This isn’t about winning or losing. This is my life you keep dragging into the spotlight.”
Her voice softened slightly, but the hurt was still there. “I just wanted to move on. Why couldn’t you let me?”
Seungcheol clenched his jaw, feeling the weight of her words. “Is that really what you wanted?” His voice was quieter now, raw with emotion.
Y/n hesitated for just a second. But she forced herself to stay firm. “Yes. And if you actually cared about me, you would have respected that.”
The call ended before Seungcheol could respond.
For the first time in a long time, he felt like he had truly lost her.
After their heated call, Seungcheol couldn’t shake the guilt gnawing at him. He knew he had hurt Y/n, and no words could undo the mess he had made.
So, instead of words, he chose actions.
Every single day, he sent her favorite flowers, carefully arranged and delivered without a note. He didn’t expect a response—he just wanted her to know that despite everything, he still cared.
At first, Y/n thought it was from a fan or maybe her company, but as the days passed, the steady arrival of fresh bouquets started to make her wonder.
Then, one evening, she finally acknowledged them—posting a picture of the flowers on her Instagram story.
🌸 "One of my fav things." 🌸
Fans immediately flooded the comments with love, but one particular comment caught her attention.
💬 "Minseong is so sweet for doing this!"
Y/n didn’t respond, assuming her boyfriend, Minseong, was the sender. But before she could even process it, a verified comment appeared below.
💬 Seungcheol: "They’re from me."
The internet exploded.
💥 Fans Lost Their Minds 💥
Y/n stared at the comment, her heart dropping into her stomach. She had unknowingly posted a gift from Seungcheol, and now the entire world knew.
💬 "OH MY GOD. SEUNGCHEOL, WHAT?!"
💬 "The audacity… but also… the romance??"
💬 "Minseong is getting secondhand embarrassment right now LMAO."
💬 "This man does NOT give up."
💬 "Y/n, girl, we need a response ASAP."
The moment Minseong saw the comment from Seungcheol, he was furious. His name was trending alongside Seungcheol’s, and fans were speculating about their relationship.
That night, he stormed into Y/n’s apartment, his jaw clenched, his voice laced with anger.
“Do you have any idea how humiliating this is for me?” he snapped, tossing his phone onto the table. “The whole internet thinks I’m some fool who’s been competing with your ex this entire time!”
Y/n, still overwhelmed by everything, took a deep breath. “Minseong, I didn’t know the flowers were from him. I thought—”
“You thought what?!” he cut her off, his voice rising. “That I’d waste my time doing some grand romantic gesture when I know you’re still stuck on him?”
Her eyes widened at his tone. “That’s not fair.”
Minseong let out a bitter laugh. “Fair? You’re the one making me look like an idiot while secretly holding onto the past.” He stepped closer, his presence suddenly suffocating. “You liked it, didn’t you? Knowing he’s still chasing after you?”
Y/n took a step back, her chest tightening. “I didn’t ask for this. I was moving on—with you.”
Minseong scoffed, running a frustrated hand through his hair. “No, Y/n. You weren’t. You were just pretending to.”
His words struck deep, but before she could respond, his hand slammed down onto the table, making her flinch. He didn’t hit her, but his anger was dangerously close to boiling over.
That was it. The final straw.
Y/n’s voice was firm, unwavering. “We’re done.”
Minseong froze. “What?”
She exhaled, steadying herself. “This isn’t love, Minseong. You don’t trust me. You don’t respect me. And I refuse to stay in something that makes me feel like this.”
His expression hardened, but he didn’t fight her decision. He knew he had lost. Without another word, he grabbed his things and left, slamming the door behind him.
The moment he was gone, Y/n finally let herself breathe.
It was over. For good.
Following the sudden news of Y/n and Minseong’s breakup, fans speculated about the reasons behind their split—especially after the viral Seungcheol flower incident.

Fan Reactions
Late at night, Y/n’s phone buzzed with a message from a number she hadn’t seen pop up in a long time.
💬 "‘No involvement’?? Her ex-boyfriend literally humiliated her, and they’re acting like nothing happened??"
💬 "I just know Minseong is punching the air right now."
💬 "Seungcheol’s somewhere smirking."
💬 "Hope Y/n is okay. She deserves better."
💬 "They didn’t even deny the flowers were from Seungcheol. Interesting… 👀"
Seungcheol.
Seungcheol: Hey… How are you feeling? Seungcheol: I heard about everything. I just… I wanted to check on you.
Y/n stared at the screen, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. She knew she should ignore him. After everything that had happened, after all the chaos, it would be easier to just move on.
But a part of her—the part that still remembered how safe he once made her feel—couldn’t.
Y/n: I’m fine.
It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either.
Seconds later, her phone started ringing. Seungcheol was calling.
She hesitated before answering. “What do you want, Seungcheol?”
His voice was gentle, laced with something softer than usual. “I wanted to hear your voice, baby.”
Y/n’s breath hitched. “Don’t call me that.”
He chuckled, but there was an undeniable sadness behind it. “I can’t help it. You’ll always be my baby.”
She closed her eyes, gripping the edge of her blanket. “You don’t get to say that anymore.”
Seungcheol sighed. “I know I messed up. I know I’ve made things worse instead of better. But I meant what I said… I’m not giving up on you.”
Y/n swallowed, her heart racing. “You can’t just decide that.”
“But I can decide to keep trying,” he countered, voice firm. “I let you go once. I’m not making that mistake again.”
Silence stretched between them. Y/n hated how her heart betrayed her in that moment, how it ached at the sound of his voice, how it longed to believe him.
“I don’t know if I can do this again, Seungcheol,” she whispered.
He exhaled, his voice softer this time. “Then let me show you that you can.”
The world was buzzing with excitement—both Seventeen and Y/n had been nominated for the Billboard Music Awards. Social media exploded with congratulations, and fans couldn’t stop talking about how fate kept bringing them back into the same spaces.
That night, Y/n was in her hotel room when her phone lit up. Seungcheol was calling.
She stared at the screen, debating whether to pick up. But a part of her already knew—she would always answer when it was him.
With a sigh, she swiped the call open. “What do you want now, Seungcheol?”
His deep chuckle came through the line. “Can’t I just call to congratulate my baby?”
She rolled her eyes, trying to ignore the way her heart skipped a beat. “I told you to stop calling me that.”
“I’ll stop when you stop running away from me,” he said smoothly.
Y/n’s breath caught in her throat. “I’m not running.”
Seungcheol scoffed. “Then tell me why every time I reach out, you push me away. Every time I try to come closer, you take another step back.”
She clenched her jaw, looking away as if he could see her through the phone. “Because it’s easier that way, Seungcheol. You and I… we always end up hurting each other.”
His voice softened. “Not always.”
“Enough times.”
A pause. Then, “And yet… here we are. Still picking up each other’s calls.”
Y/n closed her eyes. He wasn’t wrong. No matter how hard she tried to stay away, something kept pulling them back together.
“Just tell me one thing, baby.” His voice was quieter now, more vulnerable. “Is there still a part of you that wants me?”
Silence.
Y/n knew her answer. But she also knew that saying it out loud would mean stepping back into a storm she wasn’t sure she could handle.
So instead, she whispered, “Goodnight, Seungcheol.”
And then she hung up—leaving him with the silence that said everything he needed to know.
The stadium roared with cheers as Seventeen was announced as the winner. The members hugged, overwhelmed with emotions as they took the stage to accept their first-ever Billboard Music Award.
Backstage, the energy was electric. Staff members, fellow artists, and friends were congratulating them left and right. Amid the chaos, Y/n found them.
Dressed in a sleek black outfit, she approached with a small smile. “Congratulations, Guys.”
The members turned to her, pleasantly surprised. Seungkwan was the first to pull her into a hug, followed by Joshua and Hoshi. They had always been close to her, and despite everything that had happened, there was no awkwardness—only warmth.
Then, her eyes met Seungcheol’s.
He stepped forward, his expression unreadable. “You are here.”
Y/n smirked. “Wouldn’t miss it.”
The members exchanged knowing looks before slowly dispersing, giving them space.
Now alone in a quieter corner of the backstage area, Seungcheol studied her carefully.
“Thank you for coming,” he said softly.
She shrugged. “You worked hard for it. You deserved to win.”
Seungcheol took a step closer. “And do I deserve another chance?”
Y/n inhaled sharply. “Seungcheol—”
“Listen to me, baby,” he cut in gently. “I know I’ve messed up before. I know I let you go when I shouldn’t have. But I swear to you, I’ve never stopped loving you.”
Her heart pounded, but she kept her face neutral. “It’s not that simple.”
“I know,” he admitted. “But I also know you still feel something for me. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t.”
She opened her mouth to argue, but he was right, and they both knew it.
Seungcheol sighed and reached for her hand, his touch hesitant but warm. “One date. That’s all I’m asking. No pressure, no expectations. Just you and me, like old times.”
Y/n bit her lip, her walls threatening to crumble.
One date.
That was all.
What was the worst that could happen?
“…Fine,” she whispered.
Seungcheol’s face broke into a boyish grin, his dimples showing. “Really?”
She rolled her eyes. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. It’s just one date.”
He chuckled, squeezing her hand. “One date is all I need.”

After days of trending worldwide, Seungcheol and Y/n finally sat down for their first official interview as husband and wife. Fans had been eagerly waiting to hear their love story straight from them, and the couple did not hold back!
1️⃣ Why Did Y/n Give Seungcheol a Second Chance?
💬 Y/n: “A lot of people asked me this, and honestly, I asked myself the same thing at first. But… Seungcheol never stopped trying. Even when I was stubborn, even when I told him to move on, he just kept proving to me—through his actions, not just words—that his love for me never changed.”
💬 Seungcheol: [laughs shyly] “It was never even a question for me. I just knew she was the one, and I was willing to wait however long it took.”
2️⃣ How Did Seungcheol Propose?
💬 Seungcheol: “I was nervous. Like, really nervous. I had planned everything perfectly, but when the moment came, my hands were shaking.”
💬 Y/n: [laughs] “I noticed! He dropped the ring box at one point.”
💬 Seungcheol: “I wanted it to be special, but at the same time, I didn’t want some big public thing. So, I took her to the place where we had our very first date. Just the two of us. I told her everything I felt—why I loved her, why I’d never stop choosing her. And then I got down on one knee and asked.”
💬 Y/n: “And I said yes. Obviously.”
3️⃣ How Did the Seventeen Members Help?
💬 Seungcheol: [groans] “Oh my God. They were worse than me.”
💬 Y/n: “It was adorable, actually.”
💬 Seungcheol: “So, before I proposed, the guys decided they had to be involved. I thought they’d just help with the setup or something, but no… they insisted on singing ‘Marry Me’ by Jason Derulo while I was proposing.”
💬 Y/n: “I walked into the venue and suddenly all of Seventeen was standing there, singing with way too much passion.”
💬 Seungcheol: “Jeonghan was even pretending to wipe tears like he was my mother.”
💬 Y/n: [laughing] “It was so chaotic but also the sweetest thing ever.”
4️⃣ Why Did You Keep the Marriage a Secret for So Long?
💬 Y/n: “We really wanted to enjoy this moment for ourselves first. In this industry, so much of our lives is public, and we just wanted a little while where it was just us.”
5️⃣ How Did Seungcheol Win Y/n Over Again?
💬 Y/n: [teasingly] “He was persistent. Annoyingly so.”
💬 Seungcheol: “I sent her flowers every day, wrote her letters, checked in on her, reminded her of all the little things I remembered about her. I just wanted her to know that no matter how much time passed, my love for her never changed.”
💬 Y/n: “At first, I was so set on keeping my distance, but then one day… I realized I didn’t want to run anymore.”
💬 Seungcheol: “So, you admit I won?”
💬 Y/n: [laughs] “You never had to ‘win.’ You were already the one.”
6️⃣ Final Thoughts?
💬 Seungcheol: “I know our story has been crazy—lots of ups and downs. But I think that’s what makes it special. We grew, we changed, and we still found our way back to each other. And now… I get to call her my wife.”
💬 Y/n: “And I get to call him my husband.”
💬 Seungcheol: [grinning at her] “Best title I’ve ever had.”
As expected, social media exploded with love and admiration for the couple.
🔹 “This is literally a K-drama but real life.”
🔹 “Seventeen SINGING while he proposed? I need a documentary on this whole love story.”
🔹 “They were always meant to be. I’m so happy for them.”
With their love stronger than ever, Seungcheol and Y/n’s journey continues—but this time, as husband and wife.

CANCUN p. jisung
richkid!park jisung x richkid!fem reader (e2l)
in which a trip to southern mexico along with your brother's obnoxious friend becomes more than you can handle when you both release your stress.
cw: MDNI! SMUT! my longest fic so far for my boyfie's birthday :3, fingering, exhibitionism (you don't get caught), unprotected sex, dry humping, public sex, dom jisung for the element of surprise, you are honestly really snobby and annoying and jisung is too, even though he tries to hide it. (wc: 5.7k)
Tumblr media
For the past week and half, you’ve woken up smiling with a pep in your step – it was finally summer! The only time available to feel somewhat happy as a college student had arrived, after months of long lectures and painfully boring labs, and you weren’t looking to waste it droning miserably around an isolated campus. The opportunity to travel was offered to you the second day of your break, in the form of a message from your brother, Chenle.
Yo. We’re hitting up the beach house in Cancun if you want to come. You can invite someone too, just let me know. Dad’s paying
Not even ten minutes later, you and Ningning were at the mall scouting for cute bikinis. Deciding on a light pink two piece with a flared miniskirt on the bottom, you didn’t bother looking at the price tag before passing it to the worker. Truth be told, you hadn’t looked at your bank account since you were allowed to get one. You knew it was always covered, and you had sworn to never be one of those rich kids who are ashamed of their wealth and call themselves “comfortable”. You figured if you could enjoy life and travel with your best friend every semester, why fight it?
“Lele better have gotten us each a first class window seat. If I get middle I will slice his throat.”
Ningning mindlessly nodded to your obnoxious complaints, holding her phone up high to record a pre-trip transition tiktok, not bothering turning her volume down as the noise rang out loudly. “-Ugh, and then he was like, you only get to check in two bags but like, Ning that’s so unfair. Like I need more so I can bring back gifts for the girls.” This time Ningning actually looked in your direction, voicing out a small mmm to let you know she agreed.
The both of you sported similar airport outfits – comfy pink sweatpants alongside a white shirt, the matching outfit a tribute you had planned for the trip. Chenle spotted you immediately, yelling out your name and throwing his hands up in the air. As your eyes locked, you rushed over, shoving your bags onto the bench and hugging him. “Ewww, get off me.” The attempted-sweet moment was tarnished as he pushed you off, deciding to not greet Ningning either.
Rolling your eyes at his annoying antics, you waved at his friends who were scattered along the same sitting area. Scanning their faces, you didn’t miss the way one particular friend didn’t wave back – Park Jisung, who for some reason swore you were his mortal enemy. He simply looked your way, scoffed, and pulled his phone out again. Your plans of slapping him and pulling him by the hair were interrupted as Jaemin, one of your brother’s nicer friends stepped in front of you, smiling widely.
“Little Zhong, it’s been so long. When’d we last see you?” “Umm… I don’t really… know.” He laughed, and you giggled along, engaging in small talk. Had Jaemin not been blocking you, you would’ve seen the way Jisung’s  eyes squinted sharply at your direction, spanning between you and his friend quickly before averting his view.
After leaving your bags with your brother, you pulled Ningning along to go airport shopping. It was a higher end company, and of course you were part of the membership, meaning you all shared a private lounge. The company offered many stores for members only, ranging from Coach to Chanel, and that’s where you immediately headed together.
“I think I need a bag for the trip, I looked up the trends in South Mexico right now and my purse just isn’t aligning.” “Oh my God, same. I don’t know what I was thinking bringing that five month old red one, it would’ve been so embarrassing.” Your snobbish comments blended in with the echoes of older women who had access to the same membership, and after one hour of touching authentic leather clutches to Greek weaved trendy tote bags, you were finally satisfied with your three new bags (Nigning with her two).
The whole group decided to meet up an hour before necessary to sit together until the boarding time, an effort encouraged by Mark who said he ended up in a small bug-infested motel next to an airport once because he lost his group and missed his plane. That scenario being unironically your worst fear, you were quick to hop on board and agree, pulling Ningning by the hand to head towards their lounge.
Unsurprisingly, all of the others were gone, probably also shopping or stuffing their faces at the supreme sushi buffet, leaving you two alone. As the minutes passed by, you were starting to get annoyed, not wanting to end up in the small motel Mark described. “Ning, go look for anyone else. I’ll stay here.” “What the hell? Why do you get to stay here while I look?” “Umm, because one of us has to, dummy. Did you forget about like… bombs and stuff? Airport rules. Duh.” Rolling her eyes, Ningning crossed her arms and stormed off, muttering under her breath as she walked out of view.
You grinned as she was finally completely gone, pulling out a sleeping eye mask and moving onto the chaise lounge, on your back. A looming shadow was what woke you up, so intense you swear you could see it with your eyes closed. Pulling your eye mask up, you were awoken to the sight of Park Jisung hovering over your body on his knees, head over yours casting a shadow.
“What?”
The question made him scoff once more, looking away and shaking his head before simply getting up and walking away. “Hey! Don’t walk away! You were watching me sleep, creep.” You rushed to get up, fully discarding the mask and standing up to follow him around the medium-sized room. “Don’t flatter yourself,” his deeper voice rang out, continuing to walk away, “I was just checking cause Chenle asked me t-” He was interrupted as you finally caught up to him, holding his arm in your hand and tugging him around.
A swelling frustration built up in you as you saw his eyes, full of disinterest and boredom. It was one thing to bother you constantly, it was another to do so while feigning nonchalance. Somehow, your brother’s best friend had managed to get on every single nerve inside of your body, and you seriously began to worry about what would happen when your body would run out on the trip.
“Look, it’s already annoying enough that we have to be near each other these next three weeks. Can we please just avoid each other?” The truce you offered was your last hope, pleading at him in a desperate manner. Jisung looked away with a hand on his chin, as if to seriously think about what you requested, looking at you once again before his smile cracked, eyes squinted slightly as he shook his head, floppy bangs swaying side to side, “No.”
You huffed before letting go of his arm with a strong force, turning around and walking towards your new stack of bags, choosing one off the top to hold before attempting to storm off in the direction of Ningning. At this point you were seriously starting to consider cancelling the trip. You’d probably be able to convince your parents to send you two to France instead for the fourth time; yet one thing that your summer house in Cancun had that your three story, antique French apartment didn’t was Mango, the orange fat cat who resided on the property that you adored. Since you were a kid, you looked forward to every Spring break because it meant visiting Mango and sleeping on the beach with him under the hot Mexican Sun. Now though, it seems like he’ll have to be your distraction for Jisung’s aggravating antics.
If you had to pick one thing about the male that infuriated you the most, it’d be his hypocrisy. Even you admitted that you were spoiled, not defending yourself when the topic came up, yet Jisung wouldn’t miss a chance to look down at you in disapproval, acting like he was superior when he was the exact same thing as you – an entitled, superficial rich kid who ended up with everything he could dream of.
Ningning was paid for by your parents, but Chenle revealed to you through text that his friends provided for their own selves, using their supposed money that truly just came out of their parents pockets instead, including Jisung who never failed to remind you you were nothing but a product of wealth.
Although you had half a mind to curse him out, you were honestly tired and just wanted to find your best friend to complain to. Jisung had to ruin apparently every one of your plans as his larger hand wrapped around your shoulder, this time stopping you from marching away. “Wait, hold on. My bad, okay? I’ll agree with you,” his voice sounded smoother, more empathetic as he pulled you back near the couch he caught you sleeping on. “Really?” Your hope was restored as he nodded his head, “Yeah, on one condition.” “What would that be?”
Rather than answering you, he simply pushed you onto the seat, getting on his knees again and hovering in between your legs once more. You felt his breath on your face as he stopped, his eyes scanning your face before lowering to your lips. A grin grew on his mouth, though he tried to hide it by biting his own lip.
Without a warning, his hands moved to your shoulders, pulling you into him as he left a small peck to the corner of your mouth. Still in shock and confusion, you didn’t push him off which he took as encouragement to place another one on the other corner. Finally regaining your consciousness, you shrieked and pushed him away, looking at him with wide eyes.
“What the hell, Jisung? What is wrong with you?” The male rolled his eyes at your loudly yelled questions, leaning into your ear instead. “You can act like you haven’t felt any tension between us all you want, but I won’t let you ignore me this time.” He whispered, standing up on his feet and staring at your face before walking off to where his own bags were.
The rest of the hour was spent in the bathroom, frantically retelling the story to Ningning who was just as shocked as you were, yet according to her it was only a matter of time before that evil man tried something on you.
When you two rejoined the larger group to finally board, you were weirdly quiet, avoiding the stare of Jisung who was watching you intently. It was the first time he’d seen you so panicked, so distraught. It was then that he realized he really liked the feeling of having control over you. While he was smiling to himself, predicting what a great trip it would be, you were shivering in your seat, dreading what was yet to come.
All of your worries faded away as you stared at the green sign displayed above the road Chenle was driving on, Bienvenidos a Cancun. It had been a while since you were last here, the humid hot air and the bright sun almost unfamiliar to the point where it would’ve upset you. Unfortunately, your group was too large to commute together, so you split up into two groups.
You waved goodbye to Renjun, Haechan, Mark and Jeno at the airport parking lot, entering the backseat of a large black vehicle that adorned a sign with your last name on it, clearly dedicated to you and your brother. Jaemin sat next to Chenle in the passenger’s seat, leaving you sandwiched between Ningning and Jisung. Chenle insisted you’d sit there, saying your guest should have the window seat. You nearly choked him out through the console of the car.
Ningning was asleep in minutes, clearly jetlagged from the plane ride, the soft chattering coming from the front of the car probably lullaby-ing her into slumber. This left you awkwardly pressed to her side, trying your best to avoid contact with the male next to you who had been observing you ever since you all landed.
A bump came up ahead on the road, causing you to shift up slightly into the air, landing next to Jisung’s legs. Thanks to the microshorts you were wearing (curse the torturous summer weather), your bare thigh was pressing against Jisung’s choice of long jorts. The length of his attire stopped your skin from touching his, leading to a relieved sigh, yet it was interrupted by a heavy breath as he nonchalantly moved his closer hand towards your thigh, awkwardly placing it between yours and his.
Confused by his choice of placement, you were about to complain yet words no one would ever hear were caught in your throat as the car came into contact with another speed bump, this time lifting Jisung’s hand directly onto your bare, plush skin. “Hey! Take it off.” He simply shrugged at your whispered demand, “It’s the car, I can’t control it.”
The daggers in your eyes simply egged Jisung on as he lightly pinched your thigh, chuckling lightly to himself as you smacked his hand away finally.
Once the car ride was over and Ningning was shaken awake by your own hands, the two of you ran inside the large house, speeding into the hallway to choose your rooms first. You settled for one of the two rooms on the second story, opting for the one with a balcony facing the blue crystal water of the beach. Ningning ended up on the first story in the room closest to the indoor pool, yelling something about her daily morning laps.
One by one, Chenle along with his friend group entered the large house, claiming their own territory quickly. Jeno, Haechan and Jaemin decided to stay in the rooms in the basement, and a large part of you believed it was due to the theater room that had a PS5 connected to a surround-sound speaker system. Mark took the room next to Ningning, the two of them bonding over their swimming exercise routine. Renjun took the room furthest into the hallway, followed by Chenle who chose the one in between his and Mark’s.
It was a pure coincidence that Jisung ended up residing in the last room available, upstairs and right next to yours. You hadn’t even realized it was him until he knocked on your door, pushing it open before you could say anything and leaning on the frame.
“There is no way you’re next to me. Switch rooms with someone now!” Your words were pointed and firm, suddenly covered in the confidence you lacked at the airport as you stood up, throwing your unpacked clothing onto the king sized bed. Jisung simply snickered to himself, “It’s cute that you think that’s up to you to decide. I’m comfy here though, and I already unpacked so no can do, sorry.” “Why do you enjoy making my life a living hell?” “Because it’s funny.” His responses only angered you further, causing you to stand up and slam the door on his face.
Choosing a better method to unwind than yelling in your brother’s best friend’s face, you put on a cute bikini with a lace cover-up, rushing out into the hallway when the coast was clear and heading towards Ningning’s room, who was also already unpacked and dressed in a cute sundress.
No words were exchanged as you two ran through the back door onto the beach, giggling with each other as your feet met the warm sand. Ningning placed her tote bag down near the water, laying down two towels and sitting on one of them.
It was no surprise when you heard the shouts of the rest of the group, each male running towards the beach as well. They all placed their miscellaneous beach items next to you, not bothering to place down a towel and simply sitting in the warm sand in a circle.
Truthfully, you were already sick of the overwhelming testosterone that engulfed you both, and apparently your best friend was as well as she shouted out a challenge, “Last one to dive into the water has to do everybody else’s laundry.” Ignoring the fact that your vacation home came accompanied with a house maid, which of course it did, the large majority of the men stood up, racing through the sand until you could barely see their heads in the water.
Three stayed back – Jaemin, Jisung and Renjun. The last had already occupied himself with a book in his hand, laying on his stomach on his towel (he was the only one that brought one out of all of his friends). Jisung was simply staring at you with a blank expression, causing you to roll your eyes and look away. He momentarily looked away as well, although your next words pulled his attention back quickly. “Jaems, can you help me put some sunscreen on?” The older male next to you nodded, smiling and grabbing the bottle from your hand. He shifted so that your back would be facing him, squirting out a generous amount of the lotion before nudging your hair aside, spreading it onto the back of your neck first.
His hands roamed towards the small of your back, spreading the lotion all over you before gently rubbing it in with his palms. Soft sighs escaped from your mouth, your eyes closed as you leaned into his hands that were essentially massaging you.
Jisung was annoyed. It was one thing when you provoked him specifically, but to display your content sighs so loudly was another. He’s not sure why the sight of his close friend’s large hands running up your hips, under your arms, everywhere, had him so riled up. It couldn’t be jealousy – you were the most infuriating person he knew, yet as he quickly stood up, rushing over to the water, it was clear that he was more bothered than he let off.
Soon enough, the hot sun faded out into a serene, dark sky, and the group had once again returned to the house momentarily. Tired from several hours of messing around in the water, Chenle announced that he would order food. It was Ningning’s suggestion that they eat it on the beach chairs settled right outside of the house, under the balcony of your room. Although you hadn’t swam as much as the others, you were honestly tired of the socialization and chose to head to your room instead. Jisung was confused – and maybe even disappointed – when he noticed you weren’t outside with the rest, deciding he’d check in on you (and aggravate you a bit more).
His long legs carried him upstairs, leading him to the familiar door of your room that was slightly ajar. Inside, you laid on the bed, scrolling mindlessly on your phone. His grin grew, the palm of his hand pushing harshly onto the door until it opened completely.
Your eyes were quick to look up at the source of the noise, rolling once you realized it was Jisung. “What is it now?” “Nothing, can’t a guy just want to hang out with his dear friend?” Your nose scrunched up as his response, “I’m not your friend, you’ve made it clear with your relentless bullying all of these years.” He pushed himself off of the door frame and into your room, stepping until he was right next to your bed, standing still next to your laying body.
“C’mon, I’m not that bad.” He joked, hoping you didn’t catch the way his eyes roamed down your barely clothed stomach to your smooth legs. You did catch it, yet refused to mention it in fear of a scenario like the one in the lounge repeating. “Look, come here.” He leaned down, grabbing your hand in his and pulling until you were unwillingly sitting on the bed. He didn’t stop until you were completely off of the mattress, dragging you towards the open doors that led to your balcony.
You could hear the buzz from below it, belonging to the large group eating some authentic tacos that costed a hundred pesos each. Jisung stopped once you both were fully outside, and you stared up at him, confused by his actions.
He caught your gaze, smirking down at you before lifting a finger to his lips, as if to motion you to be quiet. That confused you even more, you weren’t even being loud?
You suppose his next actions explained his weird antics as he flipped you to lean against the railing of the balcony, your nearly-naked back now facing his clothed chest as you were forced to look out towards the beach. He used the hands he flipped you with to hold onto both of your hips, pushing you flush against him and placing his head on your shoulder, almost looking down at the crowd from behind you.
“They look so busy, hmm?” You squinted your eyes at his question, wondering why he even cared. “I mean, I guess so…” “Would truly be a shame if they were to look up and see us right now, right?” You tried to tilt your head to look at him, yet he took one of his hands and placed it on the back of your neck, forcing you to look down. “We aren’t doing anything… so not really.” You wish you could ignore the way the laugh he let out didn’t run straight to your core, yet it was hard as his grip on you grew, pulling your body closer into his until you felt the pressure of his hands build up.
You jumped at the feeling of his hand leaving your hip, instead roaming towards the end of your ruffled bikini bottom. Nothing could hide the small gasp that released from your mouth as it snaked over towards the front of your body, slowly lowering itself until he was fully covering your clothed core. “Shh, don’t want them to hear, do you?” The small twinge of pleasure along with the ache building inside of you blinded you to the small smirk heard in his voice.
His voice was muffled with your hair as he pushed his face closer to you, his breath evident against your ear as the grip in his other hand grew, applying more pressure to the base of your neck.
His long fingers were now gently rubbing you through the material of your bikini, ever so slightly moving until they met your clothed clit. Your breathing grew heavier, knuckles turning white as you held onto the railing, praying that the dark sky covered the possible view your friends had downstairs. The view of Jisung’s hand finally pulling the fabric aside, fingers gliding against the slick that had built up from his actions. A small moan was muffled by his other hand that moved from your neck to your mouth, now confidently rolling your sensitive clit with his thumb as two of his fingers drifted lower, slowly but surely finding their way inside of you.
You had truly underestimated the size of Jisung’s hands as he built up his pace, thrusting the two fingers in and out. It was only when you felt an unfamiliar, cold sensation that you realized he had left a ring on one of them – probably the friendship ring Chenle forced all of them to buy and wear.
His breathing grew as a reaction to the way your body instinctively bucked against his, your ass now pressed against his painful erection. He lightly whined into your shoulder, increasing the speed at which he moved his fingers inside of you, hoping you’d continue to build the friction between the two of you.
Your moans quickened as well, fading to breathless gasps as the cold of his jewelry met with the warmth of your walls, leaving you a mess at his mercy. Just as you continued to press into him, craving more than just his long curved fingers, you heard a voice from below. “Should we go check in on Ji and N/n?”
Curse Jaemin and his thoughtful concern, you began to pull away from Jisung, afraid of getting caught. What you hadn’t expected was for Jisung to push back into you, the hand that had covered your mouth now holding your hips, bucking his own to the fast pace he set, desperately searching for release as his fingers continued to bully their way inside of you.
“Ji… Jisung, stop! They’ll… Th- They’ll catch us…” You struggled to let your words out, growing desperate as well, his fingers reaching so deep inside of you that you felt like you were going to pass out from the pleasure. The added danger of knowing you might get walked into was your final push as your mouth released a final whine, folding against the railing you held onto as you attempted to catch your breath.
Jisung was too focused to stop, continuing to rut into you, his fingers sliding out and moving towards his mouth instead. He lifted his head off your neck to suck onto them, swirling his tongue to fully enjoy the taste of you. Without a warning, and quite frankly ignoring your pleas of overstimulation, he thrusted his covered bulge into you once more, groaning into his own fingers as he came in his shorts.
He stood against you for a minute, the two of you catching your breath and attempting to process what just happened, yet the sound of several footsteps rushing up the stairs and near your doorway had you pushing him away, running into your room and picking up the closest pair of pants to put on.
Ningning’s eyebrow was raised when she stepped into your room, suspiciously locking eyes with you before looking at Jisung, continuing to observe the two of you harshly. Your heart beating almost covered the noise of Chenle, who was demanding you and Jisung to join them all downstairs to bond. Wanting to escape the heavy atmosphere hanging around you two after what had just happened, you were quick to agree, running down the stairs and out the door.
The morning after came soon, the bright sunlight that poured into your room waking you up from a scandalous dream about Jisung that you would never share with anyone. You were so embarrassed –  you were supposed to be the one to bitch Jisung, not the other way around, so to admit that you came on his fingers, more importantly that you enjoyed it, proved difficult.
Both Ningning and Jisung stared at you weirdly as you announced you felt sick, therefore you would not be able to join them on their trip to the cenotes. You refused to lock eyes with either of them when you rushed back up the stairs, slamming your door behind you.
You spent the day lazily relaxing on the beach alone, sipping on several glasses of agua de horchata with an audible book blasting through your Airpods Max. Your peace was only disturbed once the sun began to set, and a hand was placed onto your bare shoulder. You recognized the large hand, unfortunately too familiar.
“Was it that bad that you had to avoid us all?” Jisung’s deep voice rang out, his body finally coming into view as he sat next to you. It took everything in you to not stare at his upper body, now bare as a result of the adventures the group went on. You shrugged his hand off, shaking your head and looking off towards the water as you took your headphones off, placing them on your bag. “No.” “Then why did you magically get sick this morning? Scared I would harass you in front of your brother too?” You didn’t want to admit that it was true, but harass wasn’t the term you’d use, considering you woke up wet and reminiscing the feeling of him thrusting into you.
You just shrugged, causing Jisung to frown at your lack of rebuttal. It was only fun when you played along.
He let out a hum of disapproval, staring at you like he found himself doing a lot on this trip. Finally finding the courage to look at him, your eyes locked, and it was then that Jisung really noticed how pretty you looked under the dim sky. He hesitantly placed a hand on your slightly sunburnt face, cupping your cheek and looking down at your lips.
You looked down at his lips too, admiring how plump they were – you had never taken your time to appreciate how pretty he was as well, too focused on his annoying insults and teasing. You both leaned in slowly until there was no space left in between you, mouths finally meeting. It was slow at first, hesitant and almost innocent, yet something unleashed inside Jisung as he heard you sigh into the kiss. It reminded him of the noises he pulled out of you the night before, suddenly feeling desperate.
He was the first to assert control, placing his other hand on your face as well and pulling you into him, devouring your lips and pushing against them with his tongue, demanding you to let it meet yours. You complied, sick of acting like you ever wanted control over Jisung. You never actually cared for it, you just liked trying to push him over the edge, which you appeared to succeed in as his breathing quickened. Your tongues met, the kiss turning messy. He could taste the sweet drink off of your spit as he let go of your face, instead moving you until you were laying against the soft sand, his body hovering over yours.
Jisung used both his arms to keep him on top of you as you moved yours down, palming him through the blue swimming shorts he chose to wear. The feeling of your smaller hand making contact with his clothed dick had him swelling up, growing needier and needier until he couldn’t take it.
He pushed himself up onto his knees, looking down at you as his hands roamed to your small bikini bottoms – smaller than the ones yesterday, you knew what you were doing to him. You propped yourself up on your elbows, ignoring the slight sting of the sand grains digging into your arms as you watched him bite his lip before finally pulling the bottoms off of your legs.
He groaned at the sight of your bare core, glistening against the dim lighting of the moon. He was quick to follow, desperately pulling off his own shorts, leaving him completely bare. The only clothing that remained on either of you was your bikini top, yet it didn’t last long before Jisung ripped it off, ignoring your small noise of complaint as the fabric tore off of you. He leaned over you again, struggling to ignore the feeling of your slick cunt meeting his hard-on.
Finally, you were both completely naked, left with no distractions. Jisung kissed you again, closing his eyes and melting into the feeling as your hand snaked down. He let out a hiss as you held onto his sensitive dick, guiding it lower until he felt your hole. Giving a few small thrusts against the slit of your pussy, he finally sank in with no warning, moaning at the way you immediately clenched around him. You were no better, eyes widening as you felt the stretch inside of you. Yes, it might’ve been Jisung’s personal goal to annoy you to no end, yet he had enough mercy to give you time to adjust. It might’ve slipped from your mind, yet Jisung was very focused on your facial expressions when he got rid of your clothes, noticing how shocked you appeared to be from the size of his length. He always knew he was on the bigger end, yet his ego continued to inflate as you struggled to take him fully. With his newfound confidence, and your small encouraging nod, he began to move, finding a rhythm as he thrusted into you, pushing you further into the bed of sand under your bodies.
Your hands found his back, scratching down his built muscles as you fought to get used to him. He moved one of his hands that was holding him up, causing him to shift deeper into you accidentally (yet you weren’t one to complain as the new angle pulled an embarrassingly loud noise from you). His now-free hand slid down your body, stopping at your boobs to tease you a bit, groping the soft flesh before continuing down until he met your clit.
The way Jisung played with the bundle of nerves alleviated the pain in you, now shifting into pleasure as he pushed into you with a renowned force. “Tell me how it feels, baby.” He whispered into your ear, begging to hear your voice. “S-so good, Ji. Need more, please…” Deciding to not tease you for the first time in his life, he complied, thrusting into you harder, the speed of his fingers on your clit increasing until you were a mess under his body, crying out at the combined stimulation.
The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore, alongside the reflection of the moon on the water encompassed you both as your passion took over, grinding down to meet his thrusts with fervor. You finally caved when his mouth met your neck, sucking harshly in hopes of marking you up. You reached your climax, riding it out as Jisung continued to thrust into you. “Where do you want me?” “Inside… Please.” He simply nodded, his movements growing sloppier as he sheathed himself into you fully, searching for his own release.
You decided to mirror his actions, lifting your head to kiss his neck, and that was enough to make him finish, his cum gushing inside of you, dripping out lightly as he reluctantly pulled out.  As you looked over at Jisung who now laid next to you in the sand, you thought that maybe this trip wouldn’t be so bad after all. It wasn’t until he looked at you, basking in your satisfied afterglow that he leaned in, holding your neck with his hand and pulling you into another heated kiss, this time pulling you on top of him, that you realized you had to plan a very long debrief with both Ningning and Mango tomorrow morning.

Day 23 of fic-tober! fic-tober masterlist
summary: you're back in monaco a a dog-sitter. the doorbell rings. oops.
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ
Back in Monaco for the first time in over a decade. Boarding school was funny, right? English boarding school, supposedly the best in the world, and you’d spent your time there, then you’d gone on to Oxford to study law, you were starting your trainee position in litigation, next week. But this week? You were a dog sitter.
You and Arthur had been best friends as children, and when you were sent away, he’d sobbed and begged you not to go. You had to, sadly being given no choice. But, for the first 6 years, Arthur and you had kept in contact, but he got a particularly shitty girlfriend who made you two drift and you hadn’t seen him since that Christmas, where he told you to stop texting him.
“Y/n!” Charles cheered as you entered his apartment. “We are so happy to have you here!”
You smiled as Leo jumped up on you. “Hi Leo!” You beamed, picking up the small dog.
“No hello for me?” Charles pouted.
“Hello Charles,” you smiled. “It’s good to see you again.”
Charles stared at you for a second. “You’re so beautiful,” he grinned. You felt your cheeks heat. Charles had always been the older brother you never had, the same goes for Lorenzo. He didn’t get to watch you grow up into the beautiful young woman who now stood in front of him. He always regretted that. He also regretted ever letting Arthur cut ties with you, but that’s what this week was for. “Come here!” He beckoned you for a hug, which you gave him immediately. You’d missed him too.
“So I’ll show you where Leo’s stuff is, and then I’ll go to the airport, alright?”
You nodded.
୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ⋅୨ৎ
You sat on his large couch, Pissaladière in hand, ready to watch a movie, when the doorbell rang. You groaned but got up regardless, opening the door without a second thought to look through the peephole.
You should’ve looked.
In front of you stood a very confused Arthur LeClerc.
“Sorry, this is my brother's apartment… who are you?”
There’s no way you’d changed that much, right?
“Umm, no one, Charles is in Spain right now, is everything alright?”
“I was sent to look after his dog?”
“I’m the dog sitter,” you told him.
“Y/n?” Lorenzo gasped, coming up behind him. “My girl, you are so beautiful, all grown up!”
You internally face-planted. “Hi Lorenzo,” you sighed.
Arthur looked even more confused, if that was possible. “Y/n?”
“Hi,” you smiled crookedly.
Lorenzo pulled you into a bone-crushing hug, Arthur staring at the two of you. “How are you?” Lorenzo asked.
“I’m good thanks,” you nodded, pulling back. “How are you?”
“I’m very good, very happy to see you!” He smiled. “I just have some of Charles' headphones, I’ll give them to you,” he handed them to you. “We should get lunch tomorrow, I’ll text you,” he smiled behind hugging you again. “I missed you so much, see you tomorrow!”
Off he went down the hall.
“I have Pissaladière if you want some,” you offered to Arthur. “Girlfriend- permitting,” you added with a teasing smile.
He scoffed, a smirk landing on his lips. “ma parole, est-ce que je vais un jour oublier ça ?” (My word, will I ever live that down?)
“Nope.”
He followed you inside and joined you on the couch as you both sat to watch whatever film you’d picked. You could feel his eyes on you as you ate. You kept yours glued to the screen, trying to ignore his presence to the best of your abilities.
“I do not have a girlfriend,” he explained.
“Good for you,” you shot back.
He was silent again for another few minutes, then spoke again. “Do you?”
“I’m single,” you nodded, pausing the show. “Is this your weird way of trying to catch up?”
He smiled bashfully. “I guess?”
“How far back are we catching up to? We haven’t spoken in… 8 years?”
He exhaled. “Long time.”
You nodded. “Yeah.”
There was this awkward silence, and he felt his heart strings pull. It had never been awkward with you. He had never been awkward with you. You were never awkward with him.
You two were supposed to be two peas in a pod, the best of friends, always. Bullshit.
“We should start with the basics, eh?” he suggested.
“Blue, Pissaladière, Redbull, Charles, and probably teleportation,” you answered quickly. He stared at you in confusion. “Favourite colour, food, F1 team, driver, and what superpower you’d want to have the most.”
“You support Redbull?” he gasped.
“I don't have a great track record with Ferrari guys.”
Another jab at him. He understood your frustration, and he’d known from the moment he asked you to stop texting him that it was the wrong thing to do, but he did it anyway.
“Not just you, I promise,” you smiled, trying to combat the hurt expression on his face. His hurt expression turned, once again, to one of confusion. “I dated a Ferrari guy a few years back. Kind of a dick.”
Now his face turned to a mix of anger, confusion, annoyance, and… something else. You didn’t care enough to figure him out, and unpaused the show.
Who the fuck had gone out with you? He’d told everyone for the past 8 years who you were to him, which was… complicated. Was it one of his friends? Had they all lied to him? How did he let this happen?
“Who was it?” he asked after a few minutes, pausing the show again.
“None of your business,” you scoffed. “You can’t just walk back into my life demanding things Arthur, earn my trust again.”
“I am asking you to trust me and tell me,” he spoke calmly, but you didn’t fail to notice the tension in his voice.
“I’m telling you ‘no’.”
He sighed. “You don't have to be so difficult!”
“You didn’t need to come in!” you shot back, your voice raising to his level.
“I was supposed to say no?!”
“You’re an adult, you make your own choices!”
“I choose you!” he shouted. “I always choose you! I will always choose you! I race for you, I live for you, I fucking breathe for you! Y/n, do you know how much of my life has felt meaningless without you to tell? I love you! Is that hard to believe?!”
You were taken aback. No one had ever been so blunt with you, let alone Arthur. It was overwhelming. You hadn’t spoken to each other in 8 whole years, yet he thought about you the whole time, the same way you thought about him? What were the fucking chances? “Arthur, what is your fucking problem?” you shouted. “How can you just drop that one someone? Are you expecting an answer now-?”
“No! No, not at all-”
“You wouldn’t get one either. This is a lot to take in. Like, a lot, alright? We haven't spoken in 8 years Arth, I don’t know what to say, I-”
He smiled. “You called me ‘Arth’.”
You rolled your eyes with an exasperated sigh. “Of course that’s what you got from that.”
He shrugged. “I did a very difficult thing there, I confessed first!” he defended.
“What makes you think I’m going to confess?” you smirked.
“Your childhood diary,” he smirked. Your mouth dropped open.
“YOU DID FUCKING READ IT YOU LIAR!” you shouted, throwing a pillow at him.

Hi !!!:3💌
I was wondering if you could write a headcanon about what it would be like for men to go with you to your country to spend Christmas already married and with children??? I hope you can🫶. Thanks!!⊹˚₊⭒
thought it'd be perfect if i posted this on the 25th but since yule started i decided why not today
᭺ Price, Ghost, Soap, Gaz, Roach, Alejandro, Rudy, Phillip Graves, Makarov, Keegan, König, Horangi, Nikto
Christmas in your country w/ COD Men
✺ Price...
decided to surprise you with a trip back to your country to visit your family, you were overjoyed as you hadn't seen them in a while, especially with how busy you had been with raising the kids it wasn't going to be easy
he helped you make the proper preparations, the children were excited to visit and learn about how you celebrated during this time of the year
Price is more than supportive and helps take care of the kids who might be hyper and he didn't want them to stress you out when you should be enjoying your stay
"it's all about you, luv" he assures as he's the one to hang back a little and help the children get ready
you definitely enjoy this year a little more than the others, even if it sounds selfish it had been a nice break from the previous years of strenuous cooking and organizing for large dinners to simply enjoying nostalgic traditions from when you were a kid
✺ Ghost...
Simon wanted to help you relax, you were always so wired up and he was worried you'd overwork yourself getting presents for everyone especially since you were going back to your country
so he was several steps ahead and already had contacted your family beforehand so there would be less things you'd worry about, they were on board with the entire thing
he made it especially clear to your son and daughter that they should be on their very best behavior and not get into any trouble so you could enjoy this holiday properly with your family
at the end of it all, you were overwhelmed (in a good way) by all the warmth and familiarity that you fell asleep on the couch in front of the fireplace, a small smile on your face, content with how everything turned out, he pulled out a blanket you'd been gifted and sat next to you, caressing your hair and being warmed by the fire
✺ Soap...
for once he wanted to do something more for you, you had always gone above and beyond for him, so he figured he should do the same, quickly he realized it wasn't easy but he prevailed
you had landed and upon making inquiries at the front desk realized your luggage had been lost, he knew this would send you into a frenzy as all the gifts were in there, he told you and the kids to go ahead and head to the place you would be staying and spent an agonizing few hours at the airport trying to sort everything out
you worried he wouldn't arrive in time but then the doorbell rang, and there he stood, looking a little worn out but still managing a huge grin on his face, proud that he was able to handle it all by himself
he collapsed on the mattress afterwards as you approached him and thanked him for organizing this entire trip for you, you told him he didn't have to do it again but he insisted on coming again next year because after all he had really enjoyed this christmas a lot more seeing you happy and cheerfil with your family
✺ Gaz...
you had received a free plane ticket from a family member who hadn't seen you at family gatherings and missed you, the ticket was only for one person and you hesitated on accepting it because it'd mean you would have to leave Kyle and your two daughters behind
he, however, encouraged you to take the trip and he might spend this christmas with his family, you couldn't take your daughters but it had been years since you had been to your country, and honestly? you missed it, a lot
there might not be another chance so you agreed and made the trip, the first few days you couldn't help but miss the company of your husband and daughters, you admit that it's nice to be home again but you wish you didn't have to celebrate separately
you didn't expect to open the door on christmas morning and find your two daughters smiling gleefully up at you all bundled up in their scarves and Kyle standing behind them holding a beautiful bouquet, you almost knocked him over when you ran into his arms for a hug
✺ Roach...
he's nervous at the thought of going to your country not because of the travelling but more because that means you'd want to see your family and he hasn't met them prior to this
you even consider just not seeing them but he doesn't want you to miss out on spending time with your family, you assure him you'll just visit them the day before and then spend christmas just the two of you, that backfires because your family strongly urges you to spend the following day with them and suggest you bring your husband and kid so they could all meet them
he's on edge just thinking that your entire family will be there, especially if you've got a ton of family members who come from everywhere, and soon as he arrives he gets all shy when all eyes go to him because they don't know him, after you introduce him everyone beams and flocks to him greeting him in ways he's not used to, especially if where you're from greeting someone with a kiss is the norm
soon he looses his shyness and partakes in the festivities and has a wonderful time, you sit back and watch with a satisfied smile, your chin resting on your hand just watching him have fun, secretly you knew that they'd love him
✺ Alejandro...
Alejandro still holds his customs dearly to him so when he traveled to your country he, of course, brought his customs along, he made sure your family was fine with it and they more than welcomed them
it might have looked a little weird to see the 'weird' mix of food and way of doing things but it was fun to experience, your family already liked him but he really grew on them this time as they got to witness his culture and share some of theirs as well
the entire time he spent bonding with your family and was open to trying new things, he was also able to experience the weather during christmas in another country, whether that be heavy snow and chilling air that he isn't used to or suffocating heat that he can handle because that's like the second summer he's had to endure this year despite it being over from where he's from
✺ Rudy...
he's always loved helping you prepare for christmas, he wakes up earlier than you do and by the time you walk into the kitchen he's wearing an apron
so when you went back to your country he made an even bigger effort to impress your family by helping them prepare, he might have grown up with different customs or traditions but essentially he had the right intentions and was eager to learn
they took a liking to him right away and spent the entire day before the main event getting all the decorations tacked up and cooking a feast
he of course, didn't forget the kids, he might have asked for help to dress them in cute sweaters that your aunts knitted for them, he made sure they were extra thankful
✺ Phillip Graves...
i like to think he's cheesy af and does all your typical and cliché stuff during christmas since he's all hyped up for it that even your older kids can't help but roll their eyes
he was probably more excited than you were to go back to your country, he always liked hearing stories of how it was like growing up there and so he was the one to bring the idea of spending christmas there
he actually surprised you when you arrived and he greeted your family in their mother tongue, you didn't even know he had been practicing
he had the children help set up the decorations and you can't help but admit it was adorable seeing him lift the younger ones up to put up decorations on places they otherwise wouldn't be able to reach
✺ Makarov...
Makarov loves spoiling you and the kids on the regular, but he goes all out on christmas, he spends the month before snooping around and picking up hints on what you or the kids might want
he himself never really asks for anything because his biggest joy now is seeing you happy along with the children, he really couldn't ask for anything else
now that he's visiting your side of the family, he brings many gifts and lavish gifts for them, hoping to charm them, the kids especially love him and slide up to him hoping to he given extra candy or toys this year, this makes your younger children jealous and so they're constantly at their father's side, giving scowls to the kids who are doing too much
✺ Keegan...
he's overwhelmed meeting all of your family members and even your extensive family who have come too, it's kind of hilarious seeing him trying to take care of your son when he's a bit distracted, the kids are all playing in a circle and he comes up to one, taps him on the shoulder and tells him to come eat but when the kid turns around it's not even the right one
your family likes to get all dressed up and fancy for the big dinner so you go out of your way to your son cleaned up and getting yourself ready, while you're still touching up Keegan says he'll go ahead and wait for you with your son, and imagine the look on his face and everyone else when they see you walk down in clothes that elegantly compliment you
everyone turns to Keegan to see what he'll say but he's just awestruck, can't really get a coherent sentence out of his mouth other than just "wow, you look-" and then just admiring you
✺ König...
he's dragged away to help wrap up presents for the family, except he's not very good at it, he can't make it look very pretty and the wrapping paper tears, he tried tying a neat and elegant bow but he can only make really tight knots instead
still he's receiving pats on the back and "good jobs" for it, and when presents are handed out everyone knows who wrapped the funny looking presents
he'll hold your daughter up who's still too young to reach for herself the cookies on the top shelf when they're not supposed to be eaten yet, still he sneaks a few cookies and even bring some for you, this reminds you of how when you were a kid you also used to steal cookies the night before so you could enjoy some yourself
and when the time comes for the family photo he's having a hard time fitting into the frame because he's taller than everyone else, so he tries crouching a bit, bending his knees but it just makes him look awkward, instead someone suggests they all sit on the floor or on chairs and that way you now have a lovely copy of the picture to hand onto your fridge when you go back home
✺ Horangi...
he makes sure his daughters are dressed in cute matching dresses, their hair all neat and wearing pretty sweaters because he's not having them do the ugly sweater contest, he doesn't care how much money it cost to get those clothes customed and tailored they deserve it
of course he insists on having your clothes made special for the occasion as well but you decline saying not to worry you have yours ready
you arrive to be greeted by your family and it's custom to have the children sing or show off some sort of talent, your daughters are no less prepared as they sing and everyone is head over heels with how adorable they are, clearly you've done a good job with raising them
Horangi is proud to call you his s/o, even if it embarrasses you a little to constantly be referred as 'his' (in a lovingly manner ofc) in front of people who've watched you grow up
✺ Nikto...
he knows you're glad to be back in your country and celebrate, but behind that joy you're honestly a little tired, the trip was nothing easy especially if you're travelling to a different country and it was a long flight
after the festivities are over, he insists on putting the kids in bed, he carries the ones who have fallen asleep on the floor to their beds where you're staying and tucks them in, afterwards you honestly need a moment to yourself
after making sure the kids are asleep and won't need anything else, he shuffles outside where you're sitting by yourself on the porch stairs, you've forgotten your sweater inside so he takes his off and envelopes you in an embrace, sitting on the step behind you and keeping his arms around you
he doesn't say anything but you lean back into his chest and close your eyes and he also kind of leans in, resting his head on top of yours

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Paige’s plane disappeared into the sky, Azzi and Caroline remained in the car, parked in the airport lot, just sitting there. Neither of them spoke for a moment, the quiet settling over them like a pause between breaths. The air still carried traces of Paige—her laughter, her teasing remarks, the warmth she left behind. But now, it was just the two of them, and there was something unspoken lingering between them.
Caroline tapped her fingers against the steering wheel, exhaling. “So,” she started, glancing at Azzi. “We’re really doing this, huh?”
Azzi let out a small laugh, shaking her head. “Feels weird to say out loud, but yeah… I think we are.”
The decision had been brewing for a while now, long before Paige had even brought it up. The conflict within their team at Stanford had taken a toll, and both of them had been feeling the weight of it. The transfer portal had seemed like the only option, but actually making a choice had been another thing entirely.
Azzi shifted in her seat, turning slightly toward Caroline. “You know, when Paige was trying to convince me yesterday, I wanted to tell her I’d already made up my mind,” she admitted. “I just… I wanted it to be my decision. Not hers, not Geno’s, not anyone else’s.”
Caroline nodded in understanding. “Yeah. Same. I wanted to feel like I was choosing what was best for me—not just running toward something, but also away from something else.”
There was a pause as both of them processed that.
Azzi sighed, leaning her head back against the seat. “But the more I think about it… it just makes sense. UConn is—”
“Where we should be,” Caroline finished, her voice firm. She turned her head to look at Azzi, eyes bright with certainty. “The program, the culture, the people… and let’s be honest, we’d get way more out of it than what we have now.”
Azzi nodded slowly, then smirked. “And I mean, Paige being there isn’t exactly a downside either.”
Caroline groaned, rolling her eyes. “Okay, relax, lover girl.”
Azzi just laughed, but there was no denying it—being at UConn meant being with Paige, and that mattered. It wasn’t the reason for her decision, but it was a reason, and she wasn’t ashamed of that.
Caroline stretched her arms in front of her, letting out a breath. “So… we’re really doing this.”
Azzi nodded. “Yeah. We are.”
Caroline reached for her phone. “Alright then. Let’s make it official.”
—----------------
By the time they got back to their dorm, the weight of the decision had settled in, but instead of feeling heavy, it felt right. They walked inside, the familiarity of the space grounding them as they sat down together in the common area.
Azzi pulled out her phone, scrolling to Geno’s contact before exchanging a look with Caroline. “You ready?”
Caroline nodded, leaning in slightly as Azzi pressed the call button.
The phone rang twice before Geno’s voice came through. “Azzi? What’s up?”
Azzi glanced at Caroline before answering. “Hey, Coach. I’m here with Caroline and uh, we just wanted to call and let you know…” She paused for a second, then took a deep breath. “We’re decided on coming to UConn.”
There was silence on the other end for a moment, but then Geno chuckled. “Well, it’s about damn time.”
Caroline snorted, shaking her head. “We didn’t want to rush it.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Geno said, the amusement in his voice obvious. “I figured you’d come around. You two are making the right choice.”
Azzi smiled. “We think so too.”
“But,” Caroline interjected, “we don’t want anyone else to know just yet. Not even Paige.”
Geno hummed in understanding. “Got it. Your secret’s safe with me—for now.”
Azzi relaxed slightly, knowing that they were in control of how and when they wanted to tell people.
“Alright, well, enjoy the rest of your time there,” Geno said. “And I’ll see you two soon.”
As they hung up, Azzi set her phone down and looked at Caroline.
“We’re really doing this,” she said again, and this time, there was no hesitation.
Caroline grinned. “Hell yeah, we are.”
—----------------
Paige stepped out of the Uber and into the familiar grounds of her dorm. The crisp Connecticut air hit her face, reminding her that she was back home, though something about it felt different. As she gathered her things from the car, she couldn’t shake the feeling of Azzi lingering in her thoughts. She had only left a few hours ago, but it felt like a lifetime.
As she made her way toward the entrance, she spotted KK and Ice sitting on the steps, chatting and laughing. They both immediately looked up when they saw Paige, and a wide grin spread across their faces.
“Paige!” KK shouted, her voice full of excitement as she stood up to greet her. “How’d everything go? You and Azzi good?”
Paige smiled softly at them, walking up to the steps and giving both of them a quick hug. “Yeah, everything’s good,” she replied, trying to keep her emotions in check. “We’re good. Really good.”
Ice raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “Really good, huh?” She teased, nudging KK playfully.
Paige let out a breath, laughing lightly. “Yeah, it feels right.” She paused, looking off into the distance for a moment. “It’s just… crazy, you know? All this time, and now things are finally falling into place.”
KK and Ice exchanged knowing looks before turning back to Paige. Ice put an arm around her shoulder. “Well, we’re glad for you, P. You deserve to be happy. And if Azzi makes you happy, then we’re happy for you both.”
Paige nodded, appreciating their support. “Thanks, guys. It feels different, but in the best way possible.”
KK grinned. “I’m sure you two are gonna kill it together. You’re a power couple for sure.”
“Just don’t keep it all secret for too long,” Ice added with a wink. “We’re already rooting for you both.”
Paige laughed, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. It felt good knowing her friends supported her and Azzi. They didn’t need to ask too many questions—they already knew the important things.
“So, what’s the plan now?” KK asked, leaning back against the steps.
Paige glanced back at the dorm, suddenly feeling a little exhausted from the journey. “I don’t know. Probably just need to crash for a bit. Catch up on everything, you know? It’s been a crazy few days.”
“Yeah, for sure,” Ice said. “You’ve been through a lot. Take it easy, we’ve got your back whenever you need us.”
With that, Paige gave them both one last smile. “Thanks, seriously. I’ll catch up with you guys soon.”
As she made her way inside, the weight of the last few days seemed to lift off her shoulders. It wasn’t all figured out yet, but she was happy. She had Azzi, and she had her friends. For the first time in a while, Paige felt like everything was going to be okay.
—----------------
The season had finally wrapped up for Stanford after coming up short in a tournament game, but UConn’s journey was far from over as they were preparing for their tournament matchup. Meanwhile, in Palo Alto, Azzi and Caroline were in the middle of packing up their dorm, their suitcases sprawled open as they organized their things for their upcoming move.
Clothes were scattered across the beds, half-filled boxes lined the walls, and their closets were nearly empty—Stanford was officially in the rearview.
Azzi sat on the floor, folding a hoodie and placing it into her suitcase before glancing at Caroline, who was struggling to shove a pile of clothes into a duffel bag.
“You know, you could just fold those, right?” Azzi teased.
Caroline groaned, pushing down on the bag in an attempt to zip it shut. “Folding takes too long. I’ll make it fit somehow.”
Azzi shook her head with a soft laugh before turning back to her own packing. As hectic as things were, she couldn’t deny the excitement bubbling in her chest. The reality of moving to UConn was finally setting in.
And through it all, her relationship with Paige had only gotten stronger.
Late-night FaceTime calls had become routine, their conversations stretching for hours, neither of them ever wanting to hang up. If Paige wasn’t at practice, in meetings, or on the court, she was messaging Azzi—sometimes just to check in, sometimes just to send something random that made her think of her.
Azzi had grown so used to seeing Paige’s name pop up on her screen that even now, she found herself glancing at her phone instinctively.
Caroline caught the action and smirked. “Let me guess—Paige?”
Azzi rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at her lips. “She’s at practice right now.”
“Uh-huh,” Caroline said, throwing a sweatshirt into another bag. “You guys really are something else.”
Azzi shrugged, but there was no denying how much she missed Paige. The last time they had seen each other in person was when Paige had visited Stanford, and even though their relationship had only gotten stronger since then, she was more than ready to finally be in the same place again.
“Speaking of Paige,” Caroline started, zipping up her bag and sitting back on her bed, “are you ready for this? Like, moving to UConn, playing there, the whole thing?”
Azzi nodded without hesitation. “Yeah. I’m ready. I mean, we already made our decision a while ago. It feels right.”
Caroline exhaled, nodding. “Yeah, I feel the same. It’s just crazy to think about. No one but the coaching staff knows yet.”
Azzi smirked. “That just makes it more fun.”
Caroline chuckled. “You’re actually looking forward to the chaos, aren’t you?”
“A little,” Azzi admitted, zipping up her own suitcase. “But mostly, I’m just excited to finally be there.”
Caroline gave her a knowing look. “Excited to finally be with Paige.”
Azzi didn’t even bother denying it. “That too.”
With that, the two of them continued packing, the reality of their next chapter sinking in with every item they placed into their bags. The next few days would be a whirlwind, but one thing was for sure—soon enough, they’d be in Connecticut, and everything would change.
—----------------
The past few days had been a blur of packing, finalizing travel plans, and making sure everything was in order before they left. Now, standing in their dorm room for the last time, Azzi took one last look around. It was strange, knowing this chapter was officially over.
Caroline sighed, adjusting the strap of her duffel bag over her shoulder. “Well, that’s it. No turning back now.”
Azzi smirked, grabbing the handle of her suitcase. “Not that we would.”
With their luggage in tow, they made their way outside, where their ride to the airport was already waiting. The California sun was warm against their skin as they loaded their bags into the trunk, but there was an undeniable excitement in the air—this was it.
As they slid into the backseat, Caroline pulled out her phone, scrolling through her messages. “Still no one knows, right?”
Azzi shook her head. “Nope. Just Geno and CD. Paige has no idea. Neither does the rest of the team.”
Caroline chuckled. “I still can’t believe we’re about to pull off the biggest surprise of the season.”
Azzi grinned, leaning her head back against the seat. “They won’t see it coming.”
The car ride to the airport was filled with anticipation. Every mile that passed felt like another step closer to the future they had chosen for themselves. Stanford had been great in many ways, but things had changed. The program wasn’t the right fit for them anymore, and when the opportunity arose to transfer, UConn was the obvious choice.
Azzi had already been convinced, but Paige showing up to Stanford just reinforced how much she wanted this—how much she wanted to be with Paige, to play alongside her, to experience everything together.
Caroline nudged her. “You’re thinking about her, aren’t you?”
Azzi rolled her eyes but didn’t deny it. “She’s going to freak when she sees us.”
Caroline smirked. “Yeah, but in a good way.”
Azzi exhaled, shaking her head with a soft smile. “I just hope she doesn’t suspect anything before we land.”
“Please,” Caroline scoffed. “Paige has no idea. If anything, she probably thinks we’re still trying to figure things out.”
Azzi nodded, pulling out her phone and checking the time. They were getting closer to the airport, and soon, they’d be on their way.
The second they stepped foot in Connecticut, everything would change.
The car slowed as they approached the airport drop-off area, the large terminal entrance coming into view. Azzi exhaled, gripping the handle of her suitcase a little tighter.
This was it.
In just a few hours, they’d be landing in Connecticut, and everything would change.
Caroline stretched her arms overhead before unbuckling her seatbelt. “Alright, let’s do this.”
They stepped out, the cool breeze contrasting sharply with the California sun they were leaving behind. The driver popped the trunk, and they each grabbed their bags, rolling them toward the automatic doors leading inside. The airport was busy, but they moved with purpose, weaving through the crowds as they made their way to check-in.
As they stood in line, Caroline nudged Azzi. “So, how are you feeling? Nervous? Excited?”
Azzi smirked, shifting her weight onto one foot. “A little bit of both. It’s kinda surreal, you know? Like, we’ve talked about it, made the decision, but now it’s actually happening.”
Caroline nodded. “Yeah, I get that. But honestly? I’m just excited to finally be somewhere that feels right.”
Azzi hummed in agreement. It wasn’t just about basketball—it was about the environment, the team, the people. Stanford had started to feel off for a while now, and transferring wasn’t a decision they made lightly. But deep down, they both knew UConn was where they were meant to be.
After checking their bags and getting through security, they found their gate and settled into the waiting area.
Caroline glanced at her phone. “Think Paige is up right now?”
Azzi glanced at the time difference and chuckled. “Probably just waking up for practice.”
Caroline smirked. “Imagine if she FaceTimes you right now.”
Azzi rolled her eyes, but there was a slight panic in her expression. “She can’t. My phone’s on DND.”
Caroline laughed. “Smart move.”
They spent the next hour waiting for their flight, chatting and making small talk, but the underlying excitement never faded. Soon, they heard their boarding group called, and they grabbed their bags, heading toward the gate.
As Azzi stepped onto the plane, she exhaled slowly.
Next stop: Connecticut.
—---------
Paige stretched her arms as she walked into the locker room, still groggy from just waking up. The team had a morning practice, and she was trying to shake off the sleepiness. She pulled out her phone, naturally opening her messages first—like she always did. Her fingers hovered over Azzi’s name before she typed out a quick text.
Paige: Morning, baby. What’s the plan for today?
She hit send and waited. Normally, Azzi answered pretty fast, even if it was just a quick reply before she got busy. But this time, the message stayed on “delivered.”
Paige frowned, locking her phone and tossing it into her locker. Maybe Azzi was just asleep. But something about it felt… off.
She wasn’t the only one acting weird lately.
Geno had been sus as hell. Paige had noticed it for the past couple of days—little things, like how he’d pause mid-sentence around her, or how he and CD would exchange glances when transfers were brought up. It was subtle, but Paige caught on to everything.
And now Azzi wasn’t answering?
She grabbed her phone again and sent another message.
Paige: Azzi? You alive?
No response.
She sat on the bench, drumming her fingers on her knee. Maybe she was overthinking, but her gut was telling her something was up.
KK plopped down beside her, sipping from her water bottle. “Why do you look like you’re about to interrogate someone?”
Paige sighed. “Tell me if I’m being crazy, but does Geno seem kinda… weird to you lately?”
KK squinted, thinking. “Weird how?”
“Like, I don’t know… suspicious weird. Like he knows something and is just waiting for the right moment to say it.”
KK hummed. “Now that you mention it, he has been in a good mood lately.”
She opened her texts again, staring at the unread messages she’d sent Azzi.
Something was definitely going on.
—----------------
After practice, the team gathered in the locker room, still sweating and catching their breath. Geno stood by the door with a big grin on his face, clearly excited.
“Alright, ladies, I know we’ve got a big game ahead of us, but I wanted to take a moment to announce something special. We’ll be having a special team dinner tonight, just us—no distractions, no outside guests.”
Paige’s eyebrows furrowed. A “special” team dinner? That wasn’t something Geno typically made a big deal out of, especially during this time of year. It was a little too… vague. The way Geno’s eyes sparkled made her suspicious, but she tried to brush it off. She was probably just overthinking things.
Still, something in the back of her mind told her to stay alert. She could feel a tension in the air, but maybe it was just the pressure of the next game.
She checked her phone again. Still nothing from Azzi. Paige bit her lip. She’d already sent a couple of texts, but Azzi hadn’t responded.
Paige wasn’t one to jump to conclusions, but the silence made her uneasy. Azzi always responded, even if it was just a quick, “I'm busy right now, I’ll text you later.”
As she stood there, staring at her screen, she caught a glimpse of Geno talking with CD on the other side of the room. They exchanged looks—ones that made Paige even more suspicious.
“Paige,” KK’s voice broke through her thoughts, pulling her attention. “You good?”
Paige looked up, trying to shake off her unease. “Yeah, just—” she paused, catching herself. “Just tired, I guess.”
“Yeah, I bet. March madness nerves, huh?” KK teased with a smirk.
Paige smiled weakly, but the truth was, it wasn’t just the game. She was anxious about Azzi.
“Yeah,” Paige said. “That’s probably it.”
As Geno continued talking about the dinner plans and getting everyone hyped for the next game, Paige distractedly scrolled through her phone again. Still nothing from Azzi.
She tried not to let it get to her. Azzi was on a plane, after all. She could be busy or maybe just needed some time to herself. But deep down, Paige knew something was off. Something was happening, and she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
At this point, she figured she’d just have to wait and see what the night held. Something told her that by the end of this “special” team dinner, everything would come into focus.
—----------------
Azzi and Caroline’s plane touched down in Connecticut in the early evening, the final rays of the setting sun casting a warm glow over the bustling airport. Both of them felt a rush of excitement, though they’d been trying to keep their emotions in check—after all, no one knew they were coming except for the coaching staff. It was the perfect way to make their transition seamless, no drama, just a quiet shift.
Once they stepped off the plane, they grabbed their bags from baggage claim, exchanging excited glances as they did. Caroline was the first to pull out her phone, typing a quick message to Geno.
Caroline: “Landed! Heading to the dorm now. Let us know when it’s time to meet up.”
After sending it, she tucked her phone away in her jacket pocket, giving Azzi a grin. “Well, here we are.”
Azzi smiled back, though her heart was racing. The idea of moving here, of being at UConn with the team and with Paige, felt surreal. She still couldn’t quite believe it. It hadn’t sunk in fully yet that they were starting this new chapter, and the butterflies in her stomach hadn’t gone away since they’d left Stanford.
They quickly caught an Uber from the airport to the UConn campus. The excitement of being back, even though the campus was quieter than usual without students milling about, made both of them feel a little lighter. The trees lined the roads leading to their new dorms, and Azzi stared out the window as they passed familiar landmarks, though it felt different this time. It felt more…real.
When they arrived at the dorm, it was nearly empty. The halls were quiet—most students were either away for the summer or already packed up for the season. Azzi and Caroline had both been assigned a smaller, temporary space to settle in until they were officially ready to start with the team. It was simple, a bit barren at the moment, but it felt like a fresh start. The room had basic furniture, a bed, a small desk, and a couple of chairs, but there wasn’t much else. Just what they needed for now.
Azzi let out a soft sigh as she placed her bags on the bed and ran a hand through her hair. “I think this is gonna feel more like home than I imagined.”
Caroline nodded, leaning against the wall with a grin. “Yeah, it’s a little strange, but it’s also kind of exciting. The start of something new, huh?”
“Exactly,” Azzi agreed. “And it’s not just about the new school, the team, or any of that. It’s about…us. Being together.” She paused, her voice softening. “With Paige, too.”
Caroline shot her a teasing smile. “And the other girls? They don’t know yet, do they?”
Azzi shook her head. “Not a clue. It’ll be a surprise. We’ll keep it low-key for now.”
They began unpacking their things, settling in and making their space feel as cozy as possible. Caroline put a few of her books on the small desk, while Azzi arranged her shoes and clothes in the closet.
A few minutes later, Azzi’s phone buzzed on the bed. She picked it up to find a message from Geno:
Geno: “Alright, you two, meet me in 30 for the dinner. I’ll give you more details then.”
Caroline leaned over to look at the message, a sly grin crossing her face. “Well, guess this is it. Time to meet everyone. You ready?”
Azzi gave her a half-smile, nervous but excited. “Yeah, ready.”
—----------------
Paige was standing in front of the mirror in her dorm, adjusting the hem of her UConn hoodie and pulling on a pair of comfy sweatpants. She wasn’t particularly worried about looking perfect tonight, just wanting to feel at ease for the team dinner. She wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, but it was one of those rare moments when she didn’t feel like worrying too much about the details.
But as she checked her phone again—just like she had done every few minutes since she got back to her room—Azzi still hadn’t replied. The message she had sent earlier this morning had gone unanswered, and though Paige didn’t want to overthink it, a little part of her couldn’t help but feel…sus. It wasn’t like Azzi to leave her hanging like this. Was she busy? Or was something else going on?
She shook her head, trying to shake off the lingering feeling of confusion. She wasn’t about to let something as trivial as a text message ruin her mood before dinner. It wasn’t like it was a big deal. Still, as she finished putting on her sneakers, the unanswered text bugged her.
“Ready, P?” Ice called from the doorway, snapping Paige out of her thoughts.
Paige gave her a smile and nodded. “Yep, just thinking aboutnothing,” she replied, brushing off the unease and heading out with her teammates, KK following closely behind.
The three of them walked down the hall and out to the car waiting for them, Paige still a little lost in thought, but determined not to let anything affect her night. When they arrived at the venue, a cozy restaurant with a private room set aside for the team dinner, she felt the atmosphere immediately lighten. The chatter of her teammates, the loud laughter, and the chatter about the Sweet Sixteen game made her smile. She was so proud of how far they had come this season.
As they entered the room, the staff greeted them warmly. Coach Geno and Coach CD were already there, chatting with a few other staff members. Paige’s mind wandered as she took a seat at the table with KK and Ice, still glancing at her phone from time to time. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
Geno cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the room. “Alright, everyone, settle in,” he called, his voice commanding attention. “We’ve got a special treat tonight. Some new additions to the team.”
Paige raised an eyebrow at the announcement, her confusion growing as she exchanged looks with KK and Ice, both of whom seemed unusually excited about whatever was coming next.
Geno continued. “Azzi Fudd and Caroline Ducharme have officially transferred here. They’ll be joining us next season!”
The room erupted into cheers and excited murmurs. Paige’s mouth fell open, her eyes widening in shock. The noise around her faded as she processed the words that had just been spoken.
Azzi. Caroline. Here. At UConn.
Paige’s heart skipped a beat as she turned to Ice and KK, who were grinning widely. They exchanged a glance, clearly excited by the news, before looking back at Paige.
“Wait… What?” Paige stammered, still trying to wrap her head around it.
Ice and KK both laughed. “NO WAY!” KK said, nudging Paige playfully.
Paige’s jaw still hung open. She couldn’t believe it. Her best friend, the person who’d been occupying her thoughts for so long, was going to be here. At UConn. Playing on the same team. She hadn’t expected this. Not at all.
Her heart raced, and suddenly everything around her seemed to blur as the realization hit her like a wave. Azzi was here. And this was about to get a whole lot more complicated in the best way possible.
Before Paige could process further, Azzi and Caroline walked into the room, both of them smiling brightly. Azzi’s familiar face made Paige’s stomach flip, and she found herself standing up automatically as if drawn in by an invisible force. They exchanged glances, and for a brief moment, the rest of the room faded away.
Azzi and Caroline made their way toward the table, with Azzi locking eyes with Paige as she approached. Paige’s breath caught in her throat, and she could feel her cheeks flush. The others around her were still excited, shouting and welcoming the two newcomers, but all Paige could focus on was Azzi.
KK stood, her excitement palpable as she waved over to Azzi. “Azzi! It’s so good to see you again!” she said, pulling Azzi into a warm hug.
Paige was still speechless, trying to process the whirlwind of emotions rushing through her. She watched as Ice stood to greet Caroline, giving her a hug, and then they turned back to look at Paige.
Azzi smiled at Paige from across the room, her eyes soft and knowing. Paige could feel the heat in her chest, a mix of happiness, relief, and something else she couldn’t quite name.
Before anyone could say anything else, Azzi walked over to Paige, her steps deliberate and calm, her eyes never leaving hers. She stood in front of her, and in that moment, the noise of the room seemed to fade into the background.
“Can I steal you for a second?” Azzi whispered, her voice low enough for only Paige to hear.
Paige nodded quickly, her heart thudding in her chest. “Yeah, of course.”
Azzi gently took her hand and led her toward the hallway, away from the chaos of the dinner. Paige followed, her heart racing with every step. They reached the bathroom, and Azzi pushed the door open, pulling Paige inside.
The moment the door clicked shut, Azzi’s hand cupped Paige’s cheek, and Paige’s breath caught in her throat. There was no more holding back now. The chemistry between them was undeniable, a current of electricity that had been building for so long.
Without saying another word, Azzi leaned in, pressing her lips to Paige’s in a soft, sweet kiss. Paige’s hands instinctively found their way to Azzi’s waist, pulling her closer. Azzi’s lips parted slightly, and Paige followed, deepening the kiss. Everything felt right in this moment, as if they had finally found the perfect rhythm together.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were smiling, breathless.
Azzi rested her forehead against Paige’s. “I’ve missed you,” she murmured.
Paige smiled back, her heart swelling. “I’ve missed you too.”
Azzi leaned in for another quick kiss, the warmth between them making the world outside the bathroom seem far away. But they knew they couldn’t stay there forever. As much as they wanted to savor the moment, they needed to return to the dinner.
After a final kiss, Azzi grinned at Paige. “Alright now that I’ve got my kiss, we better go back before they think we ran off.”
Paige laughed softly, nodding. “Yeah, let’s go.”
As they walked back into the private dining room, the sounds of the team’s chatter and laughter filled the air once more. Paige was still reeling from the surprise, her heart beating faster than it should have been as she made her way back to the table.
Azzi, walking beside her, looked over at her with a small, amused smile. Paige caught her gaze and couldn’t help but grin back. The intensity of everything was still sinking in, and the weight of Azzi’s presence here, at UConn, only made her feel like she was floating.
“You good?” Azzi asked quietly, nudging her playfully.
Paige chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief. “I… I can’t believe this is happening. I mean… you’re here. Like, really here.” She shook her head again. “What kind of sick joke is this?”
Azzi laughed softly, her eyes softening as she looked at Paige. “No joke. You’ll get used to it, I promise.”
They reached the table, and Paige slid into the seat next to Azzi, still trying to process everything. The team was buzzing with excitement, talking over one another, asking Azzi and Caroline about their transfers, what brought them to UConn, and how excited they were to play with the team.
Geno, of course, had his usual authoritative air about him as he walked over to their table, a mischievous glint in his eye.
“So, Paige,” Geno began with a grin. “How’d you like our special dinner so far tonight?”
Paige’s eyes widened, and she let out a small laugh, turning to Azzi and then back to Geno. “Are you serious right now?” she asked, still processing it. “This is how you’re doing it? A whole dinner just to drop the bomb on the me and the team?”
Geno’s grin widened as he raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I think it was worth the surprise, don’t you?”
Paige shot Azzi a playful look, who only shrugged in response, the faintest smirk pulling at her lips. “You’ve really been planning this, haven’t you?” Paige muttered, though the smile never left her face.
“Well,” Geno said, leaning in a little, clearly enjoying the playful teasing, “we had to make sure we had a proper welcome for our new teammates, right?” His eyes twinkled with amusement as he glanced at Azzi and Caroline. “And we figured, why not give Paige and the team a little special treat, too?”
The room erupted into more teasing and laughter, with a few players—KK and Ice included—jokingly directing their attention toward Paige and Azzi.
“Aw, look at you two,” KK said with a teasing tone. “Paige is all speechless, and Azzi’s just as smug as always. What’s going on between you two? A little secret, huh?”
Azzi rolled her eyes, trying to play it cool. “No secrets here, just enjoying the team dinner.”
“Uh-huh,” Ice chimed in, glancing between the two. “So, you two have been holding out on us, huh?”
Paige couldn’t help but laugh at the attention. She had been caught off guard by everything today, and the teasing from her teammates only made the whole situation feel more surreal. “Okay, okay, no secrets!” she said, throwing her hands up in mock surrender. “I’ll admit it. I’m just shocked, okay? You guys really pulled it off. A whole dinner, just for this.”
“Well, someone had to make sure it was memorable,” Geno added, his grin widening. “And we all know how much you love surprises, Paige.”
Paige shook her head, still laughing. “Yeah, well, this one definitely takes the cake.”
As the dinner continued, the playful teasing between Azzi and Paige didn’t stop, but there was also a growing sense of warmth between the two of them, a comfort that was becoming more natural with each passing moment. Between all the laughter, the inside jokes, and the easy flow of conversation, it felt like they were entering a new chapter of their relationship—one where the future was beginning to unfold.
Azzi’s hand found Paige’s underneath the table, their fingers brushing before intertwining. Paige smiled at her, squeezing her hand, the connection between them undeniable.
“Seriously, though,” Paige said, her voice quieter now as she leaned in a little closer to Azzi. “I’m so glad you’re here. I didn’t expect this, not like this, but… I’m so happy you’re here with me.”
Azzi looked at Paige, her eyes softening. “Me too,” she replied, her voice sincere. “This is only the beginning. We’ve got a whole future ahead of us. And it’s gonna be great.”
Paige’s heart swelled at the thought. This moment, surrounded by their teammates, laughing and joking around, felt so normal, so right. And yet, it was also a moment of change, of stepping into something new. They were stronger than ever, and the future, whatever it held, was looking brighter than she ever imagined.
As the dinner continued, the teasing gradually faded into the background, replaced by the warmth of being together, of being part of a team that was more than just basketball. They were family now—both on and off the court.
—----------------
After the dinner, the energy was still high, with laughter and playful teasing echoing through the restaurant. Paige, Azzi, Caroline, KK, and Ice all piled into a group, ready to head to Azzi and Caroline’s new dorm. The night was still young, and it seemed like no one wanted to let the fun slip away.
The group made their way through the campus, all buzzing with excitement from the events of the evening. Paige, still processing the surprise, kept her hand resting lightly on Azzi’s lower back, the familiar closeness between them comforting after the whirlwind of the day.
Once they got to Azzi and Caroline’s dorm, the door was wide open, and the girls stepped in, greeted by the empty space of their newly settled-in room. Boxes were stacked neatly against one wall, but it was clear they’d made the place feel like home already. The familiar atmosphere of their old dorms in California was still fresh in their minds, and now they were embarking on a new chapter here at UConn.
Caroline tossed her jacket onto the couch as KK and Ice began to look around the room, already making themselves at home. The moment was lighthearted, everyone still riding the high of the dinner surprise.
Azzi and Paige lingered by the door for a second, exchanging a glance that only the two of them could understand, before heading toward the couch to join the others. Azzi plopped down first, making room for Paige beside her, and Caroline followed, sitting on the opposite side of the room.
“So,” Caroline began, leaning back into the couch with a mischievous grin on her face. “Y’all ready to hear the real story about how disgusting these two are together?”
KK and Ice both turned toward her, already sensing where this was going. “Oh, we are so ready,” KK said, barely containing her laughter.
Caroline shot a playful glare at Azzi and Paige, who were still sitting close together, laughing at the unfolding scene. “You two,” Caroline began, shaking her head dramatically. “Back in Cali when Paige decided to stay over? I had to deal with their disgusting PDA every single time.”
KK burst out laughing, leaning back in her seat. “Oh, I can only imagine!”
Paige laughed, a little embarrassed but mostly amused. “Okay, okay, it wasn’t that bad,” she said, looking at Azzi, who was smirking as she nudged Paige’s side.
Caroline, ever the instigator, gave them a side-eye and continued, “You guys don’t even know. They’d be all over each other, with Azzi practically in Paige’s lap or the two of them whispering sweet nothings at midnight, completely oblivious to the fact that I was there. It was so gross, I had to leave sometimes just to get away from it.”
KK was practically wheezing, while Ice had her hand over her mouth, trying to stifle her laughter. “Please tell me you two didn’t—”
“Oh, trust me, it wasn’t just the whispering,” Caroline cut her off with a wicked grin. “I had to witness full-on kissing and everything.”
Azzi and Paige looked at each other, both of them turning a little red but unable to contain their grins. Paige leaned in, her voice low but playful. “I’m pretty sure you’re exaggerating just a little bit.”
Caroline shot her a deadpan stare. “I’m not exaggerating. You two are disgusting.”
At this, Paige couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “We were just enjoying ourselves, okay? You’re just jealous because you couldn’t handle the love.”
Ice smirked. “I don’t think Caroline could handle it even if she tried.”
“Exactly!” Caroline shot back, then shifted her attention back to KK and Ice. “And now you’re about to witness it firsthand. It’s honestly just ew.”
KK raised an eyebrow. “Is this going to be like the honeymoon phase? Because if so, I’ll have to prepare myself.”
Azzi, who was leaning into Paige’s side, smiled and gave her an affectionate squeeze. “You’ll get used to it,” she said with a laugh. “We just… can’t help it.”
Paige, feeling a little shy but still amused, wrapped her arm around Azzi’s waist. “If you want to see what it’s like,” Paige teased, “we could just go make out in front of you all. Just so you know what Caroline had to deal with.”
Caroline rolled her eyes dramatically. “No need to make it worse. I’ve seen enough.”
The group continued to laugh and chat, teasing Azzi and Paige as the night wore on. But underneath the jokes and teasing, there was an undeniable sense of ease and comfort. They were all friends, laughing together, enjoying their time as teammates, and accepting the playful relationship between Paige and Azzi.
—----------------
Even though it was late, Paige, KK, and Ice decided to help Caroline and Azzi finish setting up their dorm. The room still had some unpacked boxes stacked against the walls, and Caroline, ever the perfectionist, wanted everything settled before the night ended. Paige wasn’t complaining—any excuse to stay longer with Azzi was one she’d take.
Azzi, in her playful manner, decided to tease Paige as they worked. As she bent down in front of Paige to grab something from one of the boxes, she arched her back just enough to be intentional. Paige, who had been minding her own business, immediately stiffened, her hands pausing mid-motion as she stared at the sight in front of her.
Azzi knew exactly what she was doing.
“Oh, come on,” Paige muttered under her breath, running a hand down her face as if that would help. It didn’t.
She hesitated for half a second before deciding that, if Azzi wanted to play, she could play. Without another thought, Paige stepped forward, pressing herself behind Azzi and gripping her ass, giving it a firm squeeze. Azzi let out a small noise of surprise before turning her head slightly, amusement dancing in her eyes.
“You’re ridiculous,” Azzi murmured, smirking.
Paige just grinned. “And you love it.”
Azzi rolled her eyes playfully, but before she could respond, Paige leaned in, capturing her lips in a quick but heated kiss. Azzi responded instantly, tilting her head to deepen it, her hands gripping the fabric of Paige’s hoodie to pull her closer.
The sound of exaggerated gagging noises snapped them out of it.
Caroline, standing a few feet away with a box in her hands, gave them a deadpan look. “This is exactly what I mean.”
KK and Ice, meanwhile, were clutching their stomachs, pretending to throw up. “We’re right here!” KK exclaimed dramatically.
Ice fake wiped a tear from her eye. “Y’all got no shame.”
Paige and Azzi just laughed, unfazed, before finally pulling apart. They all got back to unpacking, though the occasional teasing remark from Ice and KK kept the atmosphere light. Paige and Azzi continued working on Azzi’s room, placing clothes in drawers and rearranging a few things to make the space feel more like home.
As they worked, Paige found herself standing close—too close—to Azzi again. When Azzi turned to grab something, their faces were only inches apart. Neither moved for a moment, their breaths mingling as the tension between them thickened. Paige reached up first, her fingers grazing Azzi’s jaw as she leaned in, their lips meeting in a slow, lingering kiss.
It started soft, but the moment Azzi’s fingers gripped Paige’s hoodie again, tugging her forward, the kiss deepened, turning into something more urgent. Paige’s hand slipped down, resting on Azzi’s waist, pulling her even closer.
Caroline, standing by the doorway with Ice and KK, watched for a second before sighing. “Yeah, okay. We’re gonna leave now.”
Azzi barely registered her voice at first, but when Caroline tossed her keys into the air and caught them, she finally broke the kiss, glancing over. “What?” she asked, slightly breathless.
Caroline smirked knowingly. “We’re going to go buy some stuff for my room. You two enjoy… whatever this is.”
KK and Ice stifled their laughter as they followed Caroline out. Ice shot a final teasing glance their way. “Try not to destroy the room before we get back.”
The second the door closed behind them, Paige exhaled a laugh, shaking her head. “They’re so dramatic.”
Azzi hummed in agreement, but the moment they locked eyes again, the mood shifted. The air between them grew thick with something deeper—something heavier. Paige took a slow step forward, and Azzi instinctively backed up until her legs hit the edge of the bed.
But they both hesitated.
“…Well, Ice is right. I just finished setting up my room, so like you know…” Azzi murmured, as if reading Paige’s thoughts.
Paige smirked. “Then we probably shouldn’t mess it up already.”
Azzi bit her lip, her gaze flickering to the side before landing on Paige again. “Bathroom?”
Paige’s heart skipped a beat. “Bathroom.”
They moved quickly, slipping into the bathroom and shutting the door behind them. The moment it clicked shut, Paige wasted no time, pressing Azzi up against the counter. Their lips crashed together in a heated kiss, and this time, there was no teasing—only raw need.
Paige’s hands found Azzi’s waist again, fingers digging in slightly as she deepened the kiss, letting her tongue slide against Azzi’s in slow, deliberate strokes. Azzi moaned softly into her mouth, her hands sliding under Paige’s hoodie, fingertips grazing bare skin.
The feeling sent a shiver down Paige’s spine.
She kissed Azzi harder, pressing her back further against the counter, her hands wandering lower. Azzi responded instantly, tilting her head to grant Paige better access as their bodies molded together. The heat between them was growing, the intensity only building as their hands roamed and their kisses grew more desperate.
Paige pulled away for just a second, her breath heavy. “You good?” she asked, her voice low, her forehead resting against Azzi’s.
Azzi looked up at her, eyes dark with want. “Yeah.”
She tugged at Paige’s hoodie, pulling her closer again. “I want you.”
Paige exhaled sharply. “Then let me take care of you Ma.”
And just like that, they gave in completely.
—----------------
As Paige and Azzi finished dressing, the atmosphere between them was a mix of comfort and a lingering sense of closeness that hadn’t been there before. The bathroom was small, and their movements were still somewhat cautious, as if the reality of what had just happened was only just beginning to sink in.
Paige adjusted her hoodie, pulling it over her head, then quickly glanced over at Azzi, who was in the process of slipping her shirt on. The sight of Azzi, her hair slightly tousled and her lips swollen from their kisses, made Paige’s heart race again.
Azzi caught Paige staring and smirked, a playful glint in her eyes. “What? Never seen me get dressed before?”
Paige chuckled softly, stepping closer to her and brushing a stray strand of hair from Azzi’s face. “Nah, you’re distracting,” she said, voice low and teasing.
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really? Guess I’ll have to make sure to keep you on your toes, then.”
Paige’s lips curled into a grin. “I’m already on my toes when I’m around you.”
Before anything else could be said, the door creaked open, and Caroline, KK, and Ice filed in, all seemingly in high spirits. Caroline immediately eyed them as she put the bags down with an exaggerated raise of her eyebrows. “Well, well, well… look at this. You two really did make some progress, huh?” she teased, her voice dripping with mock surprise.
KK and Ice broke out into loud laughter, clearly delighted by the sight of their friends acting all cute and flustered. Ice crossed her arms, leaning against the doorframe with a sly grin. “Guess we missed all the fun,” she said dramatically. “Took you two long enough, huh?”
Azzi rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the smile that tugged at her lips. Paige simply laughed and shook her head, feeling the weight of the teasing but also a strange sense of relief. She was happy that things between her and Azzi had felt so… natural. Nothing about this had been forced or awkward. In fact, she could only think about how right it felt to be with her.
“So,” Ice continued, her voice more curious now, “I’ve never gotten to hear the story on how you two even start talking in the first place?”
Paige looked at Azzi, and the two shared a brief, amused glance. Caroline and KK already knew the story, but Ice was genuinely curious. Azzi let out a light laugh, her arms crossing over her chest as she leaned back against the sink. “Well, if I’m being honest, Paige here wouldn’t stop talking to me.”
Paige snickered, remembering the day clearly. “I wasn’t annoying. You were just… quiet. I was trying to break the ice.” She raised an eyebrow, playfully challenging Azzi’s teasing. “And if it weren’t for me, we wouldn’t be here right now, would we?”
Azzi gave her a look of mock disbelief. “You’re the one who got us stuck in an elevator together for ages at that tournament, Paige! You just wouldn’t stop asking questions.”
“Hey, it’s not my fault the elevator just decided to stop working and plus someone had to entertain you,” Paige shot back with a grin. “You were the one who looked like you’d rather be anywhere else.”
“I mean, after you wouldn’t stop pestering me, I guess it was hard to stay annoyed.” Azzi’s smile softened, and she looked at Paige fondly. “But it wasn’t so bad, right?”
Paige shrugged, a playful glint in her eyes. “Guess I did manage to wear you down. If it wasn’t for that elevator ride, I don’t think we’d even be here now.”
Caroline leaned in with a knowing smile. “That’s right. The elevator incident led to all of this, huh? Who would’ve thought?” She motioned between them, her grin wide. “It’s cute, though.”
KK nodded along. “Yeah, look at you two, all sappy and cute now.”
Paige rolled her eyes, but her heart was light. The teasing felt comfortable, like she didn’t have to hide anything anymore. It was funny how something as simple as a chance encounter could lead to such a complicated and amazing connection.
Azzi smirked, shaking her head. “It all happened because of that unexpected halt.”
The others stared at her for a moment, their expressions softening as they processed what she said. Paige could feel the weight of the words, the simple truth behind them. It was all true—this relationship had grown out of a moment that neither of them had planned for. A simple, unforeseen pause in the chaos of their busy lives had brought them together, leading to something that felt incredibly right.
It really was because of that unexpected halt.

"Please tell me you didn't do it on my sheets," Lottie groaned, lip curled in disgust and eyes hidden by her sunglasses.
"Sorry," you said back from behind your own pair, without looking away from the crystal blue of her pool water. You both were splayed out on her sun-bleached deck chairs, with matching hangovers (and bathrobes) that made the bright, beaming sunlight a whole new level of awful.
Her house was in disarray around you both, with crushed beer cans and overturned chairs all across the pool deck. Some cigarette butts floated in the water and you were certain the sprinklers in her garden were misting a pile of vomit and washing it down the front of her lawn, but neither of you made a move to get up and deal with it yet.
At the far end of the Matthews' pool, there was a statue of a mermaid that doubled as a fountain, spitting water in a gentle stream. Someone had put a snapback that said 'I <3 BOOBIES' on her and a bit of lipstick around the area that water shot out, and though usually you would have laughed, you instead were a bit annoyed by how it was taking you out of what would've been a nice scene.
There was just something about waking up and seeing Nat had gone without any sort of indication, that sparked the sudden urge within you to reconnect with nature. So you were reconnecting— more like brooding— on Lottie's pool deck in a peaceful silence.
After what felt like thirty minutes but was probably more like five, she turned to you. "Do you wanna—”
“—Talk about it?” you finished, raising your eyebrows. You shook your head. “No.”
She pouted. “I was gonna ask if you wanted to make pancakes.”
“Oh… then yes.”
You both lazily trudged into her equally wrecked kitchen, with even more cans and spilled liquids thrown over her marble counters. There was a burnt bag of popcorn sitting in the sink and the garbage can underneath it was overflowing with paper towels, but Lottie's kitchen was big enough where you could ignore it entirely, jumping up to sit on the clean countertop near her massive range cooker.
When Lottie said 'make pancakes,' she really meant she would be the one cooking and you would be there for moral support, if anything. You were gifted in many things but cooking or anything of the sort had never been one of them. Instead you leaned your head against the massive stone hood, and watched her from the pair of sunglasses you still wore.
Nat had laughed at you, when you said you didn't know how to cook. Not an omelette, not mac and cheese, and barely a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Of course, you assumed the last one wouldn't be hard to figure out, but you hadn't ever made one before, and it made her laugh into your chest, where her head had been resting. It hurt a bit now, but you had the sunglasses to shield your eyes while you stared off into space.
"Chocolate chips?" Lottie asked, running a hand through her dark hair and combing out a few knots with her fingers. You nodded, and she turned back to the pan in front of her, grabbing a fancy looking bag from a stack of supplies nearby. "My dad brought fresh chocolate back with him from when he was in the Caribbean a few weeks ago," she said to you, sprinkling it into the pan and flipping it over.
"Is he going to be pissed you're using it for pancakes?" you mumbled, feeling your headache return.
"No more pissed than he'll be when he sees that Jeff and his friends cut off the leg on one of his horse-shaped hedges." You winced, hopping down from the counter and feeling your back still scraped raw from, well, Nat. Lottie shot you a look. "That heated, huh?"
You rolled your eyes, heading towards the kitchen island and grabbing some of the beer cans to toss in the rubbish. "She's made her decision clear. I'm honestly done with it. I don't care anymore."
Lottie didn't say anything, turning back to the pancakes and sliding them on a plate as you slid into the barstool at the other end of her island and rested your head on your elbows. "I mean, she called me selfish, Lottie, and then said she loved me multiple times, minutes later. Who the hell does that?"
"Mhm," she hummed, sticking her spatula and the pan in the sink and then moving to the walk in pantry to grab syrup and powdered sugar.
You watched her go, calling after her. "She disappears for days after she gets mad about me talking to people, and then I see her immediately with Bobby Farleigh of all people, and they're cuddling up! I'm done with it all."
"Okay," Lottie said, reappearing with her arms full and tossing them down on the kitchen island. She clambered up into the seat next to you and stole some of the plain ones for herself, before covering them in syrup.
"And," you continued, remembering something else as you began cutting up the pancakes and smothering them in powdered sugar, "she egged my fucking house! How could I even forget about that? I mean, what was I thinking? I don't want to talk about her."
"Oh yeah," Lottie snorted. "You really don't want to talk about her."
You shot her a glare, stuffing your mouth with an angry fork. "I'm serious, Lottie."
"You wish," she scoffed. "If you were serious— and I'm not trying to be mean— but if you were serious, you wouldn't be ranting all about her. I know you keep saying it's impossible and it can't happen with her, but you sure as hell seem like you want it to happen with her."
You frowned, taking a forkful and stuffing it into your mouth. Right as you did, a couple sheepishly walked down the hall and towards the front door, clothes obviously messed up. They sent you an awkward wave and Lottie gave a quick nod in their direction, turning back to her plate. "Then why'd she leave?" you asked, when the door was shut behind them.
She shrugged. "Why the hell would I know? If anyone here would be the Natalie-whisperer, it would be you."
"Yeah well, apparently not," you huffed, shoving more pancakes into your mouth.
"I mean, it's not like you guys were on glowing terms before you... y'know. Wasn't gonna magically all be fixed, after." You groaned, leaning your forehead down onto the cool marble countertops. It actually felt nice, against your raging headache, but you still felt like crap.
"Would've at least been nice for her to wait until I woke up to go. No 'goodbye,' no 'we should talk,' nothing. When we were just hooking up and stuff, I at least always waited to say goodbye."
"So it's not just hooking up, anymore?"
"I don’t know what it is, Lottie. You tell me, because apparently everyone knows but me." She shrugged, finishing her plate and pushing it away from herself.
"I have an answer, but you're not gonna like it."
"...No, I'm not in love with her."
"You absolutely are."
"I'm done with this!"
"You keep saying that."
"'Cause I am."
"Okay."
"I'm done," you frowned, attempting finality in your tone and coming far short.
"Right," she snorted, and then she stood to grab your now-finished plate too. "Can you help me?”
It took around three hours, to get the Matthews house back to its usual formality. You sprayed burnt and disturbed bushes with the hose, threw out bag upon bag of party rubbish, and vacuumed cigarette butts off the carpet of her living room, silently working while Lottie played some records on her grandfather's old gramophone.
Her dad usually put jazz records on it or snooty classical music, whenever you were over, but Lottie had Dancing Queen blasting throughout her house and was hopping around as she snatched stuff off the mantle and shoved it into bags, turning to you and yelling a lyric from time to time, along to the music.
This wasn't your idea of fun by a long shot, but you could appreciate Lottie trying to make it fun.
"So, how much convincing did you have to do, to get Laura Lee here at a party? I mean, with the alcohol," you asked with a snort, grabbing an almost empty bag of crisps and tossing yourself down in her father's leather armchair to finish them off.
Lottie flushed. "A really embarrassing amount," she admitted. "I kind of glazed over that part."
"I'll bet she was surprised?" you asked with an amused crunch.
"It wasn't even that— this guy from my third period started going at it with this girl right in front her. I had to literally stop her from going over there to talk to them about waiting until marriage."
You shrugged. "I mean, she seems to like you a whole lot."
"She does," Lottie nodded. "She's so sweet to me, and she has the best hand to hold, like, ever."
"Honestly, I'm surprised, but happy for you. You're in a big ol' throuple with Jesus Christ."
"Ha ha," Lottie rolled her eyes, sticking her tongue out at you. "At least whatever we have is holy. I don't even want to think about you and—"
But whatever dig she would've said was cut off by her doorbell ringing. You sighed, letting your feet down from where you had propped them up on the side table and wiping the crumbs on your bathrobe.
"I'll get it," you grumbled, leaving Lottie to clean. When you opened the door there was absolutely no way you could've prepared to see her so soon.
Nat stood awkwardly in the entryway, looking just as surprised to see you as you were to see her. She wore a pair of blue shorts she practiced and slept in, and staring right back at you was the shirt you thought had gone missing weeks ago, barely hidden behind the ratty zip up hoodie she had over it.
Her eyeliner was still smudged from the night before in places, and you stared at her blankly, waiting for her to say something— anything, really.
"I forgot my damn lighter," she said, casting her eyes to the floor after a moment.
"Oh," you replied, feeling a bit stupid suddenly, in your bathrobe and sunglasses, with your flip flops for shoes. You looked like you were mid-spa day, or like someone's drunk uncle on a cruise. Then, before you could stop yourself, you felt an annoyance twinge in your gut, and said "Is that all you've got to say?"
Her eyes shot up, looking challengingly at you, in what was a clear frustration. "What do you want me to say?" But the answer went unsaid, even as much as you didn't like it. That you came back for me.
"I don't know..."
"Great," Nat scoffed. She looked over your shoulder into Lottie's house, as if her lighter would appear behind you and jump right into her hand, and she would just be able to leave. "Can I just have my—"
"—Why did you egg my house?" you shot back, crossing your arms over your chest, trying to block the door a bit more. She raised her eyebrows at you, confused.
"What?"
"You egged my house, after our argument," you repeated, slower, feeling the tips of your ears burning.
"No the hell I didn't."
"Yes the hell you did," you argued back, leaning forward with your hands on your hips. "You're the only one with the gate code. I get it, you were mad, but—"
"—Fucking Christ, I didn't!"
"You wrote a giant 'fuck you' on my house. No one else would."
Nat glared. "I didn't invent it. Is it such an impossible thing for you to consider that maybe not everyone is Team (Y/n)? I don't mean to break your brain, but for once somebody might actually dislike you."
You rolled your eyes. "You're the only one with a history of breaking rules and doing shit."
"So, what, you think I would do that to you?"
"Maybe you would. Maybe you don't care about me at all. That's why you ran off, wasn't it?"
She narrowed her eyes at you. "I had to go, before my dad caught me out."
You shook your head. "Bullshit. You've stayed out, before."
"Oh, so now you're mad that I'm not cuddling up to you?"
"That's not cuddling, that's having me stick my fingers in you and then you run off. You were pissed at me a few days before, Nat, for literally the same thing."
"It's almost like it's confusing, (Y/n), when you get mixed signals. And no, I got pissed at you because you went shopping for girlfriends— which, I'm assuming because you're being an oblivious, self-righteous asshole, you're still doing."
"Yep, still looking," you glared at her. She glared right back, just as steely.
"Great."
"Great," you replied. It was annoying, how good she looked when she was frustrated. She was great at looking mad, and even better at looking good when she was mad. The furrowing of her eyebrows, wrinkling of her nose in anger; she had the face you wanted to kiss away. It was impossible not to wonder, if doing so would uncurl her fists and smooth out the lines on her forehead.
Then you stopped. Holy shit. Everything seemed awful, like a massive case of vertigo had just washed over you. You had had hangovers before, but this somehow seemed infinitely worse. See, a thought had finally self-realised itself within your little peanut brain.
I'm in love with Nat.
It made the ceiling feel like the floor, and Nat sent you a concerned glance and seemed about to question your change in expression, when Lottie came from behind you.
"Hey, Nat," she said with an awkward smile, brushing past you with a look and then handing her the lighter quickly. "Excited for nationals?”
"Yeah," Nat nodded, but her eyes were still glaring at you. She cleared her throat, finally looking off. "Thanks, Lot. Great party."
"Mhm," Lottie nodded, trying her best to seem at ease and not at all like she was walking in on a code-red situation. "Have a great weekend! Bye now! Get home safe! See you!" She rushed, tugging you from beyond the doorway and giving a wave, before shutting the door.
The moment the door was closed, she gave you an unappreciative stare, but your eyes were wide and your cheeks flushed.
"What?" asked Lottie, her eyebrows furrowed with concern.
"I...I think I'm in love with her."
===+++===
Your home was just as empty as it was when you had left the night before. Reginald wasn't even due to come in, since your mother and father weren't home and it was a Saturday. Even the groundskeeper and maid had the day off, and the groan you let out at finally returning home and falling onto the warm rug on your living room floor echoed against the walls of your empty house.
In your hand was the letter you found in your mailbox. A cool black and Princeton-orange colour. You already knew what it said, without even looking into it. Your father and mother went there. His father and mother, too. For years and years and years. And now, if you followed the rules set out in front of you, you too.
It was impossible not to wonder, when the fog of privilege would slowly cloud your brain. Would it be the law degree from a private school, or legacy admissions? The more frightening thing was that maybe Nat was right: it had already set in, and you unaware. You at least felt different than the rest of them. That made you different, right? You and Lottie?
The image of Nat seemed ever-prevalent. Glowering at you, like she had been in the doorway. In your shirt. With that frown. The frown that you wanted to kiss away, but would never be able to. A Scatorccio, of all people. Of all people, you had to be in love with the one person you couldn't have.
It felt simultaneously like life had resolved into something more clear and understandable, and something more depressing and doomed. You wanted to forget the realisation, and the acceptance as well. Maybe it was truly better when you were promising your friends that you felt nothing of the sort.
Your eyes flitted from where they stared at the ceiling over to the giant brown bookcase in the corner, stacked high with thick volumes of what your dad had once said were family records, but you had never grabbed one off yourself. The one that stuck out against the brown leather-bound books was a more sleek, grey memoir with your grandfather’s name printed onto the hard cover casing.
That one you had read— your father had made you read it, when you were fourteen, and your parents gave up on trying for another kid. It wasn’t as dreadfully boring as you thought it would be, but it was still a memoir about a stuffy stockbroker from the 80s, with all the parts involving cocaine conveniently edited out, but not your grandfather’s insane escapades with women.
Your father was in the process of writing his own edition, and had thereby implied that he expected you to write one for yourself. You didn't know what you could possibly write about, but then again there was the expectation you write about it anyway. You weren't a guy on Wall Street, you weren't an international businessperson. You didn't even know what you were going to school for, yet.
Next to the bookshelf in equal intimidation was a painting of your family that your father had commissioned years ago. It was back when you still had braces and acne, but thankfully the artist had removed both. You hadn't been allowed to smile for it, though that's what child-you thought you did for pictures. Instead, you and your parents' mouths were drawn into disapproving lines and hardened expressions, and the golden plaque at the bottom wore your surname in proud, powerful letters.
You sighed, sitting up onto the palms of your hands and then standing slowly, still a bit uncoordinated. You sent the painting a final glance before you wandered to the phone, grabbing the thing and checking your watch while you did it. You slumped down into the seat at the end of your dining room table, where your father usually sat, and pulled the antenna from the top, punching in the numbers absentmindedly as you stared out the window onto the garden and the pool.
The number was for your father's Monaco residence, and you waited with a jumping knee and wry expression while it rang. Eventually, though, your mother picked up. "Hello?"
"Hello, mother."
(Y/n), darling, is something wrong? You know to call Reginald first, in case of emer—"
"—No, nothing is wrong, mother. Look, I actually wanted to ask you a question."
"Well, go on then. We're about to go out to dinner."
"...Mother, do you have Julie Roosevelt's number?"
Silence on the end of the line. "Absolutely!" You didn't need to be there with her to hear the smile in her voice. "What for?"
You swallowed. "I think I'll try to take her out tonight."
"Well! Darling, that's just wonderful!" You nodded into the receiver, not like she could see it. "Make sure to wear your nice shirt, we don't want to upset the Roosevelts! I hope you know, I'm proud of you for this, really." You almost mentioned getting accepted into Princeton. Almost. But you decided not to mention it. It wasn't like you wanted to think about it anyways.
From the far wall, you could see the painting of the woman with the blue eyes staring at you.
===+++===
The local mini golf was always busy, but Saturdays were absolutely the busiest. There were couples upon couples who had the exact same idea, and were wandering around with their hands together and beaming at one another like they were living in a rom-com in the real life.
And yet you stood there with your hand in Julie Roosevelt's, and a massive frown on your face. It wasn't one that you'd let Julie see— every time she glanced in your direction, you'd quickly replace it with your best smile, showing her your teeth— but it was one that you knew you wore when she turned away.
"Sorry about the late notice," you said. You dropped her hand and went to grab a putter from the front, handing it to her and then grabbing one for yourself.
"It's okay, I was wondering if you were ever going to talk to me again," Julie laughed, a bit awkward. You winced. It's not like you could be honest, and say that you didn't intend to. The truth was, that while Julie was a bit shallow, she was also a bit too nice to deserve this one-sided thing.
Of course, there was the hope that you grew the love your mother spoke of. Maybe it would hit you, and alleviate you from Nat, who seemed to haunt your thoughts even more now, that you were aware she had captured your heart.
"I was just busy, this past week," you shrugged. "It's kind of a big deal for the Yellowjackets, and both of the teams are practicing and stuff...so."
"Wow. I guess you really like the Yellowjackets then, huh?"
"Uh...something like that, yeah. It's a big deal." She hummed, then took her things out onto the first green.
You let her go, standing behind her and watching with a grin and the scorecard in your pocket. Mini golf was something you took pride in being good at. But, then, of course, Julie let the ball drop, took a second, and gently hit the ball around the bend with a near perfect curve, and right into the hole.
"Yay!" she cheered, jumping up and down in celebration.
"Wha—"
Julie put her hands on her hips with a teasing grin. "Captain of the golf team, remember?" You hadn't.
"Right..."
You played a terrible game, for the most part. You stood at the end of the second-to-last hole with the scorecard in your hand and a whole bunch of big numbers on your side of the table. Julie was beaming from ear to ear, though you weren't exactly sure why.
It had been pretty much silent, with the two of you failing over and over again to find an interesting thing to talk about. It wasn't the calm, pleasant silence like it was with... well, it didn't matter now. You filled in a four, two shots over the par, and made your way over to where Julie was crouching down, to get a better view of the final hole.
"Actually wait, there's a special way you have to play this one," you called out to her, and she turned to you with a puzzled expression.
"What do you mean?"
"It's kind of local tradition here," you shrugged. You weren't even sure if that was true, you just knew that it was what Nat had called it, when she taught you. "You have to swing really, really hard, and to win, you've gotta get it over the fence," you pointed, "and right into the back of that neighbourhood."
She blinked at you for a moment, and then Julie frowned, looking down to the ground. "That's mean, though. What if you hit someone's house? Or a window?"
"Bonus points," you shrugged. "I don't know, you can't really see where they go, once they're over the fence. It's fun."
Julie raised her eyebrows. "Don't you think it's a little immature? Why would I do that if I'm going to win for real?"
You opened your mouth to reply, then firmly closed it. "I guess you're right," you mumbled. It hadn't felt stupid when you suggested it, but Julie's disdain at the suggestion made you feel improper.
She did win, by a massive landslide, and you let her keep the scorecard with little protest. She was still beaming though, brightly at you like she had just had the best date of her life. Your stomach felt like it was tied up in a bunch of knots, but you smiled back at her nonetheless.
If love was something to be worked towards, you really hoped it would start working soon.
===+++===
You had only been home for about twenty minutes, when your phone started ringing. Off the hook. Over and over again. You knew who it was just from the ring, but that didn't mean you wanted to pick up.
After the disaster that was dropping Julie off at her house, you wanted to continue to staring at the ceiling. But after the sixth call back, it seemed Jackie wasn't giving up.
You picked the phone up with a frown, rolling over and smushing your chin into the bed. "Hello—"
"—OH MY GOD, YOU AND JULIE?!"
You groaned. "Jackie I dropped her off like thirty minutes ago, how do you already know about this?"
"So it's true?! You're dating?"
You sat up. "What? No, we just went on one date."
"Really? Cause Julie told Margie who told Randy who told Jeff, who told me that you kissed her and you're going out!"
You pinched the bridge of your nose. "I didn't kiss her, she kissed me. And it wasn't even like an actual kiss, she like, pecked me, and then scrambled out of my car and up her driveway."
"Well, she's saying you're going steady."
"'Going steady?' The 40s called, they wanted their slang back."
"Ha ha," Jackie said back, and you could hear the eye roll. She went silent. "...I bet your mom is happy."
"Probably..."
"Are you happy? You're probably a shoe-in for prom court, especially since I'll be out of town. Your mom won't let you go to nationals, will she?"
"No. She'll want me and Julie to go to prom together."
"Well, I mean, at least you'll win, right? That's gotta be exciting?"
You looked over to your nightstand, where you had a polaroid of you and Nat that sat taped to the side. "Thrilled."
"(Y/n)? You okay, hubby?"
You took a sharp swallow. "Yeah, I'm fine. Julie's great."
"Right...," she paused again, "does Nat...does she know?"
"I don't think so... It's only been like, thirty minutes."
"She will soon, though. Monday."
"Yeah...I guess she will soon."
===+++===
Monday was terrible. It seemed Julie had taken the awkward attempt at kissing you as the sign that you were together. She was there at your car when you first arrived, grinning again while you and Lottie got your things for school out of the second row. Then, the moment you had locked your car, you were tugged along by a hand grabbing yours.
You didn't exactly have a good reason to be grossed out. Julie was beautiful, and if you had felt the same way for her, you would have been thrilled with the enthusiasm. Hell, if it were... well. So, you mostly let her drag you wherever she wanted.
There was about a week, to run for prom court. Your mother had promptly called you that morning to insist on prom, and insist on shopping for prom, when she returned home on Wednesday, from Monaco. It was all Julie would talk about, and you were starting to wonder how much of this was a political move for her too, rather than one of genuine interest in you.
You first saw Nat coming down one of the halls, and you hesitated a bit the moment you saw that she noticed you. Or, that she noticed you and Julie together. It was the walk of shame, frankly. You didn't belong to her, in any formal sense. But your heart did, and that was enough for it to hurt. Badly.
It seemed to hurt her too. She immediately frowned, tugging on Kevyn's sleeve and walking in the opposite direction. You wanted to run after her, but Julie had an iron grip on your hand and a smile so bright.
It was awkward enough at lunch, with Julie insisting to sit next to you and to bring her golf friends. A few of them were nice, and Jackie managed to chat them up well enough to make even more friends than before, but Lottie had a frown the entire time, and Shauna looked less than happy.
Nat wasn't staring at you at lunch anymore. It was a startling realisation, that you wanted her to be looking at you. If anything, you were looking more at her. You kept turning around, trying to seem like you were just scanning the cafeteria, but Nat was firmly looking down at her food, at the same table as always.
You felt like a runaway dog that had temporarily shrugged off its collar, trying to find home with a tail between its legs. Julie was nice, and smart, and talented. But she wasn't the one. Your one.
===+++===
"Hey, you ready?" you asked Lottie, finding her out in the hallway in front of the locker rooms. it was Friday, and you both had your soccer bags slung over your shoulder, and were about to head out to practice, but Lottie seemed transfixed on a poster on the wall. "Hey now, you've got nationals tomorrow, no distractions," you tried.
"Is she seriously trying to make it seem like you two are soulmates?" Lottie said with a grimace. It was one of the ones Julie had made in two days, and was now putting all over the school to really earn you both the win. There was a drawing of you and her on it, with a heart in the middle, and 'VOTE JULIE & (Y/N) FOR PROM COURT 1996.' It was an objectively good design, but Lottie didn't like Julie very much— or at least had started to hate her, the longer you and her were together.
"I think it's because she has a crush on you," Julie said once with a pout, after Lottie had been less than welcoming to her on a ride home.
"No she doesn't," you shook your head.
"She definitely does. You shouldn't hang out with her as much, or people will think you and her are a thing. I mean, I did at first."
The whole conversation had only made Lottie more and more annoyed with her, and that was saying a lot, with how Lottie was usually nice to most people.
"Come on," you said, gesturing with your head out towards the pitch. "Last practice before nationals."
Lottie still had a frown on her face, but she followed you out there with her arms crossed. It was still relatively early, only a few people were out. Coach Martinez's son Travis was up in the bleachers, watching, while you could see Trevor and Misty talking next to the water cooler and Jeremy and Mari passing a ball back and forth to each other.
"Hey (Y/n)," a voice called from behind you, and you could feel a similar annoyance to Lottie's washing over you. You turned to see Carter Avery, back from his suspension, with a cheeky smirk on his face. "Miss me?"
"Not even close," you scowled. He brushed past you and Lottie, pausing for a moment when he was directly in front of you staring down in an attempt at intimidation. He kept walking though, until he paused, right at the edge of the pitch.
"Oh, and (Y/n)?"
"What."
"I think I need to borrow some eggs. You got any for me?" Your eyes widened. "What about toilet paper, then?"
It was intended to create anger in you. You knew he wanted you to charge at him or something, or to scowl, but all you did was stand there, in a stunned silence. You had thought that Nat would do that. That Nat could do that to you. Of course it wasn't Nat. You felt stupid and you felt guilty, and you felt even worse that you couldn't do much about either of those things. You could try, though. And maybe that would be enough.
Lottie sent you a knowing look, but all you wanted to do was curl up into a ball and die. Maybe you could try to talk to her, after practice? It was a long shot, but it was worth a try.
The Yellowjackets' moods were infectious, and it was impossible to not have a great time, at that practice. Their emotions were high, along with their excitement, and you started to feel a little bit better, the more you ran and the more you felt the wind in your hair.
Of course, that's when everything decided to go wrong. A single slide tackle from Taissa, right into Allie's leg, and everyone was panicking and yelling. You could see the bone sticking out from it, and Misty was bolting in your direction, hovering over her and attempting to right it.
"Can I get two people to carry her?" She shouted at both teams, and you immediately raised your hand, stepping forwards while Allie began to cry. You didn't even see who was grabbing her other arm until you had made it into the locker room, and Allie was still crying with Misty following behind and a very clueless looking Coach Ben behind her.
You should've known, it was her. She was selfless like that, even though she'd rather die than admit it herself. And yet, there Nat was, on the other side of Allie, laying her down on one of the locker room benches and raising her leg up. Misty ushered you both out into the hall, and suddenly both you and Nat were regretting volunteering.
You had to wait until she came out, so you would be able to carry her to the front, where the ambulance could arrive to take her to hospital, but until then it just meant you and Nat were forced to stand there in awkward silence.
It stayed that way, until you tried to speak. "So...nationals, hu—"
"Don't even," Nat snapped, shutting you up. She was twitching a little bit, in discomfort, and you knew right now that if it were outside, or if she were to have her bag, she would be pulling out a cigarette.
"...I know it wasn't you who egged my house. It was Carter... I'm...sorry."
"Real genius, aren't you."
"Allegedly. Not in practice, apparently," you admitted, sliding to the tiled floor in wait. She eyed you cautiously, but did the same, sliding down.
"Man, if I had a nickel, for every time we've been in this hallway with a serious injury... I'd have, what, two nickels?" You hummed, leaning your head back against the wall.
"That's not a lot," Nat said, rolling her eyes.
"No," you nodded in agreement, "but it's weird that it happened twice."
She thought for a minute, then shrugged. "I guess." You both could hear the whistle being blown outside, to end the final scrimmage and indicate that it was time to circle up.
"Don't you want to go hear that? Y'know, for tomorrow?"
Nat shook her head. "I'd rather be here for Allie. Though she's kind of an asshole."
You snorted. "She's a total fucking bitch."
"...Just so you know, I really did have to leave, after Lottie's party... I, uh, kissed your forehead, before I left... I guess you couldn't feel it though. You were asleep."
You shook your head. "I didn't know that..."
"...Yeah... my dad was being an asshole... it was a whole thing." You knew it hurt more than she was saying, right now, and you so desperately wanted to scoot closer, like you would've before things had gotten so messed up. Back when you were on the cusp of happiness.
"I'm sorry, Nat."
She shrugged again, like it didn't hurt, but you knew all too well. "For what?"
You would've said for being scared. For being weak. For not realising sooner. Anything. But instead you were interrupted by the sound of shoes on the tile.
Of course, there Julie had to be. She took a single look at Nat who was covered in sweat and a bit red from practice, and grimaced, before coming up to you and standing right over you, expectantly.
"Is practice over?" she asked, checking her watch. "I finished my club meeting. We have to go dress shopping— I want you there to colour match— and I need you to drop Margie off at her house, cause I said you would yesterday."
You blinked. "I mean... It kind of is? I should probably stay a bit—" you looked to Nat to see what she would say, but she was already standing up and walking off, taking the not so secret hint that Julie was telling her to get lost.
Julie watched her go, scowling behind her back and then spinning to you the moment the door clicked shut behind her. "What did she want with you?" she asked.
"We were just talking, Allie needed help."
"Well she's no good. She's one of those kids, y'know." You narrowed your eyes, getting up to your feet and wiping your hands on your shorts.
"What are you talking about?"
Julie tilted her head to the side, like she was confused by your confusion. "You must not have a lot of them, around here, but we had them all OVER, in Massachusetts. The town bicycles. Everyone wants a ride, if you know what I mean."
It was your turn to cross your arms. "No the hell I do not, Julie."
"Oh come on," she said, throwing up her hands. "She's trailer trash, at best. The delusional kind who thinks we'd look at her, like, ever. I mean, what's her body count, like over a hundred?"
"You don't know what the fuck you're talking about," you snapped at her, glowering.
"Okay, I know she's on the Yellowjackets, and she's clearly trying to get in your pants, but cmon. I'm your girlfriend, we can laugh about this kind of—"
"No, the hell you aren't. You're not my girlfriend, Julie, and you barely ever fucking were. That girl you just insulted is the best fucking person I know. She's selfless, she's kind, she makes me laugh—"
"Well then go sleep with her then!" Julie yelled, stomping her foot.
"Y'know what, I already have! And I fucking love her. So there!" And you turned right around and stomped back out onto the pitch.
===+++===
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” you rolled your eyes, trudging down the stairs and calling out into the foyer. It wasn’t like whoever it was would actually be able to hear you, through the thickness of your door, if anything it was more to air your grievance with having to get up so fucking late. Your mom was once more distraught, now that you had kept the "perfect" girl for a single week and then promptly dumped her. Another vacation was in order.
Rain was still pounding on the roof from above, and it filled the emptiness of your house with a faint white noise, that was immediately shattered by the person pressing the button again. You rolled your eyes, deciding to walk even slower to the door out of nothing but spite.
When you actually opened the door, though, you had to blink a couple times, seeing a figure retreating already, down your drive. However long you had took had made them rethink why they were here, and you would've been all too happy to let the door close. That was, until you narrowed your eyes into the rain, just barely making out the shape of a familiar leather jacket.
"Nat?" You called into the storm, loud enough that there was no way she couldn't have heard you. You crossed your arms, thinking about how she had been earlier that day. "I know it's you, Natalie. Why the fuck are you here? You have nationals tomorrow."
She stopped in her tracks, just standing in it. She gently turned, shoulders rising and falling and it was clear she was breathing heavily. Her mascara was running in massive streaks down her face and dripping in small, grey droplets, and her eyes were sensitive and red, as if she had been crying and rubbed them raw. You swallowed what felt like a lump in your throat.
"This— all of this, with you— I— I can't," she stumbled, looking like a sad, wet dog in the rain.
"What?" you furrowed your eyebrows at her, walking out further onto your large, covered doorstep.
"I can't see you with her, (Y/n), I— I just can't."
"With Julie?"
Natalie threw up her arms in frustration. "Yes, Julie. I know she's perfect, or whatever, but— I— you can't be with her—"
"—Nat," you tried, stepping forward again.
"—Because I love you," she continued. You stopped in your tracks. It felt as if the air had been sucked right out of your lungs, even in the freshness brought by the storm. "I know we argue," her voice shook, "and I know we fight, and I know I smoke, and I curse, and I get bad grades, and my dad's a shithead, and I'm kind of an asshole sometimes— but I fucking love you, (Y/n). You.... I—"
"—Shut up," you said, shaking your head and rushing forward, out into the pouring storm. You collided with her, cupping her face in your cheeks and kissing her like the world would end in ten minutes. It would have, if you hadn't done it, and you had no idea how you had survived so long without doing it.
You kissed her once, and then you kissed her again, and then, when she was crying harder, and you were crying too, and she was holding onto your arms like you would fall away, you kissed her forehead, and held her tight in a hug.
"I'm selfish, and I'm a mess, and I'm never good enough for my stupid fucking parents," you said, over the rain and just for Nat, "and I don't realise that I hurt people 'cause that's not what my family does, and for that, I'm really, really fucking sorry."
She nodded in her tears, looking up at you as you both got rained on together. "But, I agree," you said, voice shaking, "we're not casual. I'm really, really fucking sorry, but I also really, really fucking love you, Nat. And I'm sorry I was too scared and too stupid, and," you raised your voice, as if to the sky, "I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING GO TO PRINCETON—" this time it was Nat who shut you up.
It was another kiss, but it was far more gentle than the first. It was a gentle press, and it took your breath away. When you pulled apart, you let your forehead fall against Natalie's. Even though the droplets were cold, you felt so warm.
After what felt like forever, but still wasn't long enough, Nat murmured to you, "should we go inside?" She still smelled like cigarettes and her perfume, just as she had in her trailer, and you intended to let the scent linger.
You shook your head. "Just stay out here a little longer with me. Please? Just let time pass."
She nodded, then smirked as she looked past you at the car on your driveway. "Fuckin' rich people."

By the time Sue Shusterman turns away from the bench at the overlook and back toward the trailhead, she knows the paddleboarders are out in force 300 yards away on the gleaming blue surface of Chatfield Reservoir.
She knows the high runoff waters have flooded the roots of Chatfield’s willows and cottonwoods, and that the first spring-green layers of the foothills rise to the west like soft fabric.
How she acquired these life-affirming memories is at first a mystery, since Shusterman is blind and is heading back toward the parking lot making her usual sweep of the path in front with her ever-present white cane.
But then a friendly voice emerges from the phone that Shusterman is pointing toward the path from her other hand.
A little to the left to stay on the paved path. Looks like there’s a trail all the way down to the beach, about 75 yards, if you wanted to go. I’ll just be here watching, let me know if you need anything.
The voice is from a live, trained human guide FaceTiming through Shusterman’s phone camera on the Aira ability-assist app. Sight-impaired people have been using Aira’s guides to make it easier to do anything from navigating an airport to filling out an online job form. Now, all 42 Colorado state parks like Chatfield are geofenced to allow any visitor to use Aira for free to stroll the trails with a helpful set of eyes.
The Aira guides seemingly effortlessly offer what a blind hiker either needs, or wants. If there’s a dangerous steep drop-off on the right, they warn. If the hiker would rather know if the sneezeweed is in bloom or the sailboats are luffing through a turn, Aira offers that instead.
For Shusterman, trying Aira as an outdoors adventure for the first time, the allure was simple: “Independence.”
“So she’s doing, I think, a phenomenal job of including the necessary safety things, but the perks of the scenery, too,” Shusterman said, as she paused during a conversation with an Aira guide based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “She’s doing great.”
State accessibility officials recently announced the expansion of Aira to state parks grounds, after previously providing Aira free for other state-related functions such as navigating a government building or getting help on an online site or filling out forms. Colorado cannot control the cellphone signal, though, so parks officials encourage visitors to try Aira at a familiar or close-in park space before ranging farther afield with it. Popular parks like Staunton or Golden Gate contain pockets where signals are not strong.
For consumers buying access on their own, Aira costs about $50 for 30 minutes of assistance a month. Private employers and governments often buy package access to Aira and other accessibility apps for all employees to use. State accessibility coordinator Theresa Montano, who is blind and accompanied Shusterman on her Chatfield walk, said Amazon buys access so that sight-impaired shipping center employees can navigate steps to pack orders.
Montano uses Aira at her state job, saying the guides on the app can share her computer screen and help her get through an online task in 30 minutes that might take her four hours without help or through older accessibility tools.
Adding Aira for state-owned lands was wrapped into the overall $250,000 budget for free Aira use on state property and with state websites. The additional utility is an obvious plus, Montano said.
“This gives blind people the same opportunity to come and enjoy it by themselves or with their family if they want to, and be independent,” she said...
Shusterman walked away taking more from the big picture experience, rather than any particular scenic detail.
“For me, it was, you know what, I could go for a walk on this path, and I could feel completely safe, and I would enjoy a nice walk and get some exercise, in an unfamiliar area,” Shusterman said. “It’s definitely a real confidence boost for me.”

YOU WANTED TO TELL HIM SO BAD. but you knew the pay-off of making him wait would be so daMN good
finally. it was time to fly back home. you had a window seat. thanK GOd. would you be jet-lagged? yes. did it matter? nO
robin arranged it ALL for you (what a saint) and you were able to arrive in the states on the 23rd
she had someone pick you up from the airport and drive you to their house, and you literally drug your luggage into the garage (you’d make joe get it later)
now. to enact your elaborate plan
you walked up the front porch steps SUPER CAREFUL not to be seen
you rang the doorbell
“joey can you get the door”
you can practically feel him grumbling after being asked to do that
but when he opens it. and it’S YOU???
IT’S YOU????
you’re in his arms in less than a second. just completely enveloped by him. he’s pressing a kiss into the top of your head
“you tricked me”
“but aren’t you glad i did?” you’re smirking as you look up at him
and he’s never felt happier. never felt such peace. because you’re here
you come inside and say hi to everyone and make a little small talk before retiring to joe’s room because
A BITCH IS TIRED
it doesn’t take you long to fall asleep, right there in his star-wars themed room
you and joe are awake by 1am
nobody else is, and you intend to keep it that way but
YOU HAVEN’T SEEN EACH OTHER IN SO LONG
joe kisses you tenderly on the lips, his hands roaming your body, peeling off your layers of clothing
you’re undressing him too, taking your time as your hands map each others skin
you laugh into the kiss, your eyes are focused on the wall
“hmm?” joe whispers to you, wondering what’s funny
“i think your anakin poster is staring at me”
“well don’t make eye contact with him”
finally the two of you are fully naked, still pressing kisses to each others skin, taking your sweet time
and trying yoUR BEST to be quiet (it’s hard to be quiet)
after what seems like forever of loving kisses and tender touches, joe lines himself up and presses his cock between your folds, pushing into you
you let out a soft gasp and immediately
“quiet, princess”
“m’sorry” you say, muffled from your hand covering your mouth
joe shoves a pillow between the headboard and the wall just in case because
IT’S GONNA BE CLANGING IF NOT
he takes his time with you, unraveling you so slowly
because again, it has been SO LONG
and he’s got you in the mating press
you’re biting back moans, every sensation feels like a live wire in your skin
and he hits you with that slow, deep thrust
the deadly hip swivel
tears are falling from your eyes, it’s so much but it feels sO good
“feel good, baby? love seeing you cry for me”
his voice. he’s so
perfect
sexy
amazing
when he talks you through it? oH GOd
“taking it so good. doing such a good job being quiet for me”
you loSE YOUR MIND
you can’t help it, you’re cumming around him
and still, he’s talking you through, helping you along as his fingers trace delicate patterns over your clit
“that’s it. good girl. doing so well”
and he makes you cum two more times before you’re finally ready for a shower
then you’re clean and back his his bed
now he’s falling asleep
AND SHE’S CALLING A CAB
no but really he falls asleep with his head resting on your chest
when you wake up christmas eve (technically you already were, but) you go upstairs and have breakfast with everyone
it’s so nice, his family is so loving
and you spend the whole day laughing, snacking, baking, and most of all just enjoying being back home with joe
he’s glad you’re back too
christmas morning is exciting as well. in more ways than one ;)
but afterrrrr you get to go upstairs in mATCHING PAJAMAS
and relax. and watch the kids open gifts. and most importantly
you get to watch football
joe’s the happiest you’ve ever seen him. and you’re so glad to be here
home for christmas is the best place to be 🫶🏻

Off to England Camp
Tumblr media
Keira Walsh glanced at the clock on the kitchen wall, her coffee mug warming her hands as she took a slow sip. 6:47 AM. They needed to leave for the airport by 11, which meant they had a few hours to get everything sorted.
“Kalani, love, you want toast or cereal?” Keira called over her shoulder, knowing full well their nearly four-year-old daughter was far too excited about today to care about breakfast.
“CEREAL PLEASE MUMMY!” Kalani’s voice rang out from the hallway, followed by the rapid pitter-patter of her feet against the hardwood floor. She sprinted into the kitchen, wearing her favorite Lionesses hoodie—three sizes too big. Her brown curls bounced wildly as she climbed onto her chair at the table, a wide grin spread across her face.
Keira set the bowl in front of her, ruffling her curls. “Excited, are you?”
Kalani beamed. “Yes! I get to see Auntie Gee! And Auntie Lessi, and Auntie Tooney, and Auntie Leah—”
“I get the idea,” Keira chuckled, exchanging an amused look with Lucy, who had just walked in, still in her pajamas, rubbing sleep from her eyes. “Morning, Mama,” Kalani added through a mouthful of cereal.
“Morning, baby,” Lucy mumbled, pressing a quick kiss to Kalani’s forehead before moving toward the coffee machine. “We still need to pack, don’t we?”
Keira groaned. “Don’t remind me.”
The bedroom was a mess, suitcases half-packed, clothes strewn across the bed, Kalani’s tiny Barcelona jersey somehow wedged between Keira’s England training tops.
“Kalani, love, we have to pack your bag too,” Keira reminded her as she folded a few extra pairs of socks into her suitcase.
Kalani gasped dramatically, as if she had completely forgotten. She raced over to her tiny pink suitcase and started stuffing it with random things, her favorite Lionesses shirt, one of her stuffed animals, a random book, and, to Keira’s horror, a single football boot.
“Baby, you need two boots,” Keira pointed out, laughing.
“Oh,” Kalani blinked, then shrugged. “I don’t know where the other one is.”
Lucy, already in full mum mode, started looking under the bed. “How do you lose one football boot?”
Keira sighed, grabbing Kalani’s England kit from the laundry pile. “Alright, we’ll figure it out later. What else do you want to bring?”
Kalani’s eyes lit up as she grabbed her England bucket hat. “This! So Auntie Gee knows I’m her biggest fan!”
Lucy smirked. “I think Georgia already knows.”
Kalani giggled, shoving the hat into her suitcase.
By 10:15 AM, they were nearly done. Kalani was bouncing around the house, too excited to sit still, while Keira and Lucy double-checked their bags.
“Mummy, Mama, hurry up!” Kalani whined, standing by the front door, gripping her little suitcase handle like she was ready to go alone if necessary.
Keira chuckled, crouching to zip up Kalani’s jacket. “Alright, alright, we’re almost ready.”
Lucy grabbed Kalani’s little hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “Are you sure you’re ready for all the hugs you’re about to get? Because I think Auntie Gee might actually tackle you when she sees you.”
Kalani giggled. “I love Auntie Gee’s hugs!”
Keira smiled, adjusting her bag strap over her shoulder. “Then let’s go, love. Time to see the Lionesses.”
Kalani squealed in excitement, gripping both of their hands as they stepped out the door. England camp awaited, and she couldn’t wait for every second of it.

Summer in the 305 || LS2
Pairing: Logan Sergeant x fem!reader Summary: Logan comes home to Miami (305) for the summer break and you surprise him by meeting him at the airport. Warnings: fluff, doggo parents, hints of sexual tension. WC: 1.7k F1 Masterlist || One || Two || Three
Tumblr media
No one noticed you as you sat half asleep in an oversized hoodie on a bench, assuming you were just another weary traveler in Miami International Airport. The arrival lounge had been busy when you arrived hours earlier but it had grown quieter and quieter as the night grew so late it could have been considered morning. Logan was meant to have landed at 11pm and he would have expected you to be at home fast asleep but you had wanted to surprise him.
The surprise came fittingly at 3:05 when the frosted glass doors opened with the next disembarkation of passengers, led by Logan as he desperately tried to get home to you sooner. Your eyes were burning from forcing them to remain open for the extra four hours that his flight was delayed and you rubbed them as you rose from the bench.
Caps and shirts were thrust in his path but he was too polite to decline a fan so he paused to sign his autograph and nearly jumped out of his skin when your fingers wrapped around the handle of his suitcase. The shout to call for security almost passed his lips, thinking he was being robbed, before his sleepy brain recognised you.
“Sweetheart, what are you doing here?” he asked as a grin chased away the exhaustion on his face and he bundled you into his arms.
You kept one hand on his luggage since there was a crowd starting to gather but the other curled around his back and your head tucked into the crook of his neck. “I wanted to surprise you. I missed you.”
Logan pressed his lips to your forehead until you tipped your head back and he captured your lips as cameras flashed. “I missed you too.”
Thankfully it wasn’t always like this and most of the time when he came home to Miami you were left in relative peace. It was a different story when you went with him to the races, those were full-on mobs of Williams fans that demanded almost all his attention. “Go on, babe, finish up signing those so we can go home.”
The pen flew across whatever passed in front of him before he caught you struggling to hide your yawn and made an apology as he handed a boarding pass back with his autograph before waving. “Thanks for the support everyone.”
There was a collective groan from those who had missed out but Logan was focusing on taking back his luggage with one hand and draping the other over your shoulders as you fell into step.
“Looks like the 305 missed you too,” you commented as his hand lifted every now and again to wave at the younger fans until you reached his Range Rover you borrowed for the night. “There’s a treat waiting for you at home.”
His hand found your thigh as he started the engine and sent you a smirk as it drifted higher. “Yeah, sweetheart?”
“Not that,” you giggled, turning down the music that had played loudly while you drove. Logan enjoyed a quieter atmosphere when he was at the wheel, one where he could hold a conversation. “I wasn’t sure if you had eaten so I picked up some Carbone’s. I will admit I had to name drop, but they wouldn’t make a takeaway order otherwise.”
His warm laugh filled the SUV. “Did they even know who I was?”
“Of course! Everyone knows the hometown hero.” You leaned across the console and kissed his cheek, feeling the short prickles of his blond beard on your lips. “Are you planning on giving me beard burn, Lo?”
“This is all the rage in Europe. You don’t like it?” he asked as he ran his fingers over the three day growth. You weren’t sure if he was playing with you or not before a grin split his face and you sighed with relief. “Don’t worry, honey, I just haven’t had a minute spare to shave it this week.”
By the time 4:00 am arrived you should have been dead on your feet, but having Logan home energised you almost as much as Sooty. The black labrador scarpered all over the polished wooden floor when he saw his daddy walk in the door, his paws struggling to find traction in his excitement.
“There’s my good boy, come to daddy,” Logan cooed as he dropped his suitcase and caught the bounding dog as he jumped up. “Have you been protecting, mommy? Yeah? Of course, you have, you’re such a good boy.”
“He never gives me that kind of welcome home,” you joked as you locked the door and wheeled the suitcase down the hall to the bedroom.
A pair of hands came to rest on your waist as you emptied the entire case into the laundry hamper, knowing he wouldn’t have had the time to do it himself. His lips brushed over your nape before finding their way to your jaw as he turned you in his arms. “But you don’t go missing for weeks at a time.”
Hooking your arms around his neck you nodded in agreement as Sooty padded into the room with his favourite toy, dropping it at Logan’s feet.
“Someone has to be the stay-at-home parent in this relationship,” you chuckled, releasing him so he could pick up the squeaky toy.
“Not tonight, Soot, we’ll play in the morning,” he said, giving you a quick kiss with the promise of more. “Let me put him to bed, leave everything else until morning, sweetheart.”
He disappeared down the hall to the living room where Sooty’s bed was set up, but whenever Logan was away you would let him sneak into bed with you. You always slept better when you could cuddle something warm, but you definitely preferred waking up to Logan’s morning kisses than Sooty’s slobbery ones when he wants to be fed.
“Lay down, buddy,” you heard Logan’s quiet words in the still of the night. “You can take a break from looking after mommy, you did such a good job for me, yes you did.” You heard a smooch followed by a soft whine as Logan turned off the lights, then the pitter patter of paws. “Back to bed, Soot. Good boy.”
You heard the bedroom door close before Logan stepped into the ensuite, leaning against the doorway while you filled the sink with warm water. You returned the smile you found in the mirror and patted the marble vanity top before searching the drawers for his cut throat razor.
“It doesn’t look that bad, does it?” he half joked as he jumped up onto the bench, parting his legs so you could step between them.
“You could have a 70’s porn ‘stache and I would still think you are handsome,” you promised, making him laugh.
He tipped his head back as you soaked a face cloth in the warm water and squeezed the excess out before placing it over his face. “This is my favourite part of coming home.”
“Out of everything we do when you’re home, this is your favourite?”
His laugh made the face cloth fall away but it had probably been there long enough to open his pores so you lathered up the shaving cream next and massaged it over his cheeks and down his neck, feeling the thick cords of muscles beneath your palms.
“Okay, third favourite,” he corrected as his hands shifted from where he leaned back down on them to curl around your waist and rest comfortably on the swell of your ass. “But it’s still up there.”
“You are a strange man, Lo. I don’t think most people enjoy having a blade to their throat,” you murmured as you opened the razor and tilted his head to the side.
“I trust you.”
“Thank you. Now no more talking.”
He didn’t dare make a sound or even swallow as you angled the blade against his cheekbone and started to glide it carefully down to his jaw before rinsing it off in the sink. He kept perfectly still for you but you were hyper aware of his eyes scanning your face for any little changes he might have missed while he was away, re-committing it all to his memory for the next time he left.
You closed the blade up after finishing his throat last and placed it on the side before grabbing the face cloth and wiping away the excess shaving cream. Running a palm over his jawline you nodded at the silky smooth skin and took a kiss as payment before handing him the bottle of aftershave. “All done, handsome.”
By the time you had turned down the bed, and changed into one of his shirts, the light leaking in around the edges of the curtains started to turn pink as dawn approached. Your eyelids were heavy but your heart was light as Logan climbed in his side and wrapped his body around your back, the weight of his arm reassuring on your waist and his leg wedged between yours.
“Come with me,” he murmured sleepily.
You could hardly coordinate a reply as your lips quivered with a suppressed yawn until it finally passed. “Where?”
“Everywhere: Zandvoort, Monza, Singapore, all of them.” You felt his small shrug before his arm tightened around you and he kissed your shoulder. “I hate being away from you.”
Your immediate reply was to admit how much you hated the distance too but that would only make him feel worse if you couldn’t join him. “What about Sooty?”
“Hamilton brings Roscoe to some races, or maybe Mom can look after him…you don’t have to give me an answer now, sweetheart. We have three weeks to think about it.”
“I want to,” you said as you laced your fingers with his and drew his hand up your body so it was tucked into the valley of your breasts where your heart beat steadily in your relaxed state, “but we can talk about more in the morning.”
He nodded and pressed another kiss to your skin, the touch smooth and soothing thanks to the close shave. “Sweet dreams, honey.”
“Hmm, you too,” you said as your muscles relaxed even further and your tongue barely moved. “Love you, Lo.”
His voice followed you into your dreams and you smiled as it took hold in a future you couldn’t wait to see come to life, “I love you too.”

Six months in.
Genre: Fluff
Tumblr media
You nervously bounced your leg up and down as you checked your flight tracker for what felt like the thousandth time. You were flying out to LA to spend the weekend with Louis and couldn’t be more excited, and somewhat anxious about it.
You looked down at your outfit, leopard print jeans, and a plain black t-shirt. You had on the Adidas gazelles Louis had bought you for your birthday, and some silver jewelry you had lying around your room.
You had bought the in-flight wifi, but still couldn’t get it to work well, and knowing Louis had to be worried about you becoming suddenly non-responsive only made you more anxious.
As your flight made its rough landing, you held the back of the seat in front of you for balance. You always hated that part of flying, the most.
You waited to hear the seatbelt sign chime before turning your phone back off of airplane mode, it only took a few seconds to get numerous texts from your boyfriend who was just as excited as you were.
Lou 🩵: Can’t wait to see you love!
Lou 🩵: Oi! Did you fall asleep?
Lou 🩵: I miss you and can’t wait for you to land.
Lou 🩵: Fucking plane wifi again? 🙄
You giggled at the last text, almost hearing it in Louis voice. You noticed the lingering message bubbles appear as if he had been waiting to see when his messages would be delivered.
Lou🩵: I know you told me you would just Uber, but what kind of boyfriend would make you Uber to their place? So, I’m out front.
You worried about his last text, hoping and silently praying to yourself that he wouldn’t get recognized while he waited for you. You sent him a quick message as your flight started to empty out, letting him know you were headed to him.
You hurriedly gathered your belongings, throwing your purse over your shoulder and wheeling your Beis travel bag through the airport. You always made it a goal to make sure you didn’t arrive empty-handed and as much as Louis pretended to loathe it, he found it endearing and sweet of you.
You walked over to the flower vending machine, knowing all too well how your boyfriend not so subtly loved a bouquet. You took a minute or so to ponder over the selection before selecting a pair of blue hydrangeas, that damn near matched the color of Louis eyes.
With the flowers in your hand and bags in tow, you exited the airport and scanned the parking lot. You noticed your boyfriend’s white Range Rover almost immediately and jogged over to it. He opened the trunk as soon as he laid eyes on you, you knew he wanted nothing more than to get out to greet you but the airport was busier than you had expected.
“Hi baby” you drew out the words as he eyed you from his rearview mirror. His eyes dead set on yours as the corner of his bright blue eyes wrinkled with enthusiasm.
“Get over here love!” He chuckled, his laugh genuine with excitement. You realized he had a hat on, covering his hair but anyone who knew Louis would’ve still spotted him immediately. You chose not to burst his bubble, quickly rushing to the passenger side of the car to get in and place a kiss on his lips.
You set the flowers in your lap as your hands caressed his face. The smell of his cologne and aftershave was intoxicating and you wanted nothing more than to hurry to his place to be engulfed in it.
“Somebody must’ve missed me” he spoke matter of factly, a blush coming over his cheeks as you finally pulled away to give you both some air.
“Only every day and all the time” You playfully rolled your eyes, sitting yourself back down in your seat. The wrapping on the flowers betrayed you with a loud crinkle noise. It was only then that Louis laid eyes on them.
“For me?”
“Of course babe.”
The blush on his cheeks got more intense as he put the car in drive. The two of you had only been dating for six months but you knew him fairly well, and he wasn’t too afraid to admit that he loved that.
“I couldn’t show up empty-handed to our anniversary weekend” you teased, as you put your seatbelt on, your hand resting on his thigh as he drove.
You weren’t even sure if Louis was aware of your “anniversary” as it wasn’t something either one of you had mentioned but when you said those words he didn’t appear to be surprised.
The drive to Louis place went by quickly, the two of you talked about your flight, what you wanted for lunch, and just about everything else in between. You liked staying at Louis place, it was spacious and cozy and he always made sure to make you feel at ease.
Louis grabbed your purse and then your suitcase from the trunk, allowing you to only carry in the flowers you had bought for him.
“I can help ya know? You don’t have to be Mr. Muscles about everything. ” You teased earning a playful click of the tongue from your boyfriend as he unlocked his door with a passcode.
You followed Louis inside and immediately saw a small black bag with pink tissue paper and a heart-shaped balloon tied to it on his white marbled kitchen countertop. He placed your bags down, taking the flowers from you and placing them in the one vase he had stashed away under his sink. He was smiling cheekily at you ear to ear, placing the vase on his kitchen table before walking back over to you.
“I remembered our anniversary too. You sneaky little fucker” he let out a genuine giggle, as he wrapped his arms around you from behind, swaying the both of you back and forth.
“I didn’t think you would” you admitted staring at the small gift bag in front of you. Your eyes stung as they threatened to prick with tears.
“Yeah, you were testing me weren’t ya?” He peppered your face in small kisses, seeing you get emotional was tugging at his heart.
“Go on then!” He hopped up on the countertop beside you, to watch your face as you placed the tissue paper on the counter. He had put a lot of effort into whatever it was which made you want to cry even more.
Once you removed all of the tissue paper from the bag you were met with a small red box, your heart was practically doing backflips as you swallowed the dry lump in your throat.
Louis started to get nervous, unable to read the reaction on your face. “Now if you don’t love it, that’s okay! We can exchange it for something you do love.”
You ignored him, knowing you’d love whatever it was he decided to gift you. You opened the box to reveal a single silver Cartier bracelet, and his eyes didn’t leave you as he waited for a reaction.
“Baby, this is so sweet of you. I love it!” You looked up at Louis who was still sitting on the counter beside you. His eyes sparkled like a child on Christmas morning, he loved gifting you things because you never expected them and he knew you were appreciative of even the little things.
“Yeah? You swear?” He nervously chewed at his bottom lip as he hopped off the counter and embraced you. You sniffled into his chest as he hugged you tight.
“If you’re crying now wait until we go into the bedroom.”
You looked up at him, stifling a giggle as you put your bracelet on. “Now Tommo, what in the hell does that mean?”
Louis let out a snort, uncontrollably laughing when he realized how his statement sounded grabbing you by the hand and practically dragging you to the bedroom with him.
He had set out snacks, your favorite drinks, fresh clean blankets, and tons of pillows on his bed for the two of you. You noticed he had put one of his shirts out for you to wear as well.
“I kind of thought we could order a pizza and have a movie night. I just miss cuddling you love” he was always forthcoming with his feelings which was refreshing for you.
“You’re seriously so cute” you giggled, wrapping your arms around his waist. He wasted no time picking you up and carrying you to the bed.
“Cute? Just cute?” He teased as he lightly plopped you down on the bed, tickling your sides with his fingertips to make you giggle.
“Sexy, handsome, beautiful too” You knew the last statement would make him blush as it always did.
“So are we thinking of a romcom or something else?” He changed the subject as he started to scroll through movies. He always suggested romantic comedy first, his favorite genre.
“We haven’t watched the vow together! We could watch that one” You pointed to the movie featuring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum on his giant TV screen.
“Is that the movie where she rolls the window up when he breaks wind?” The question itself was funny but Louis was being deathly serious about his question, wearing nothing but a look of disgust.
“Because she loves him so much that she wants to smell them? Yeah!” You giggled knowing he was still utterly grossed out, his nose wrinkled with disgust.
“That’s so sick!” He laughed again, feeling genuinely at peace now with you by his side and in his bed. “I’ve never met anyone who would do that in real life!”
“Bring back real lovers!” You protested with your fist in the air, earning another deep shaky laugh from Louis.
“Gross! That’s just insane really!” The look of disgust mixed with his accent made your stomach do flips, the dumb yet playful conversations always made him overly passionate.
“Note to self, do not roll the windows up when he farts.” You purposefully mumbled loud enough for him to hear knowing he would break out into a fit of giggles at the thought.
“Baby!” He covered his face in embarrassment only to realize a moment later that you might have accidentally hinted toward something.
You realized you may have said too much, and hoped he hadn’t given it a second thought.
••••
When the pizza came and the movie had just begun, Louis was unusually quiet. He couldn’t stop thinking of the silly conversation you had earlier, wondering if he was only overthinking it.
You had quickly changed into his shirt and a pair of socks to get cozy in bed. Louis changed into some comfy clothes as well.
You noticed he was picking at his food, ripping the pepperonis off, and eating them instead of just taking a bite of his pizza.
“Did I say something wrong?” Your voice came out more quiet and timid than anticipated.
Louis snapped out of his thoughts, accessing the look on your face as he scanned over your big glossy emotion-filled eyes.
“No! I’m just in my head.” He placed his plate on the bedside table beside him, motioning with his hands for you to cuddle into him.
You handed him your plate, pulling the blankets over the both of you as you crawled into his chest. He was warm for once, normally he was the one who was cold to the touch.
He let out a sigh, and it worried you, wondering where this shift came from.
“Is this because you’re wondering if I- if I love you?” You knew it was better to be direct with him.
A small nervous squeak erupted from his throat before he could answer you.
You sat up beside him, looking over at him as he shifted in bed to sit up too.
“More like I’m hoping that you do love me because I really love you too.” Louis practically said that full sentence mashed together as his nerves got the better of him.
“I do love you! I love you so much!” You were excited to finally shout it out, knowing you had felt this way for a while.
Louis was ecstatic as he took you into his arms, and planted a sloppy passionate kiss to your lips.
“This is the best anniversary yet” he mumbled between breaths.

Love at first bite - Boris Pavlikovsky x reader
Pairing: Boris Pavlikovsky (The Goldfinch) x f!decker!reader
Warnings: very fluffy, just Boris (metaphorically) drooling over the reader. Sfw still 🎀
Summary: you’re Theo’s cousin, in Vegas for a few days to visit him and his dad. While you’re cooking at the Deckers house, Theo gets an interesting and very good looking visitor.
Love note from Nina: I know not many people like my Boris fics, but I recently finished reading The Goldfinch for the first time, so bear with me here. Hope you enjoy it 💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had gotten to the Deckers house earlier that morning - Theo had already left for school, but uncle Larry and Xandra picked you up at the airport before leaving for work. That meant you were alone in the house for a few hours, so you decided to do some cleaning and cooking to wait for everyone to come home.
At around 3 in the afternoon, the doorbell rang. You opened the door, but surely wasn’t hoping to see such a tall, handsome dark haired boy in front of you.
“Hi! You’re Theo’s friend, uh… Boris, right?” you asked, trying to sweeten up your voice as much as you could and fixing your hair.
Theo didn’t have any friends in Vegas besides Boris, so of course you knew about him, but his accent seemed even cuter and more distinct in person as he spoke.
“Yes, that is me” he nodded, smiling softly. “And you’re…?”
“Y/n, I’m Theo’s cousin, nice to meet you” you answered, greeting him with a kiss on the cheek, something very common in your part of the family. “I guess he should be coming home soon. Would you like some coffee? I just brewed it, it’s still pretty hot”
Boris nodded and you turned around to get back to the kitchen, not catching his silly smile as he gently touched his cheek where you had kissed him.
“Are you coming, dear?” you raised your voice slightly so he’d hear you from the door, as you were now in the kitchen.
Boris soon came along and sat on one of the kitchen chairs. You served him some of the cookies you had baked earlier, as well as a cup of coffee.
“You made these?” he asked, mouth full of cookies already. “So good”
“Yeah, just before you got here, actually” you chuckled, finding his reaction funny. “So Theo would have something to eat when he came back from school, you know… But I made way too many, so I’m glad you’re here to help us eat them”
“I’m glad too” Boris answered, happily chewing on the cookies and sipping the coffee you had made.
“I was also making him a cake, so I’ll have to finish that and put it in the oven” you said, turning around to resume your work.
“I couldn’t find the cooking spray anywhere to grease the cake pan, so we’re gonna have to do it the old fashioned way” you shrugged, opening the fridge and reaching for a stick of butter.
“Can I help?” Boris asked, sounding like a little boy wanting to help mommy in the kitchen.
“Of course” you chuckled. “Can you grease the cake pan for me?”
“Sure” he responded, his accent thickening as his body got closer to yours in front of the kitchen counter. “So I just spread the butter on the inside, everywhere?”
“Exactly, and then you put some flour on top and make sure the whole cake pan is covered with a thin layer of flour, ok?”
“I can do that” Boris nodded. He did as he was told, and soon, the cake pan was greased and the batter was nicely deposited on it.
Boris helped you open the oven, chuckling at your worries that he’d burn himself. As soon as the cake was put in the oven and you had set the timer, Theo opened the front door.
He walked around looking for Xandra - it was weird that she hadn’t been home yet. But he saw Boris and you, which was more than enough to get him concerned - he knew Boris couldn’t see a girl doing “old fashioned girly things” (like cooking) and leave her alone. That foreigner boy was a little too flirty for Theo’s liking, and he wanted none of that to happen to his cousin.
He took Boris to the living room to talk more privately, leaving you in the kitchen to prepare the icing for the cake.
“Potter, she’s so beautiful! Your cousin?” Boris asked, nearly whispering. Too bad for him that you could hear it perfectly, and a hand quickly clamped over your mouth to stifle a chuckle.
“Yeah, Boris, she’s my cousin. She’s visiting for a few days. Why do you ask?” Theo answered, seeming annoyed. You didn’t even have to be looking at him to know he rolled his eyes so hard they nearly fell off his head.
“Would you mind if I kissed her? I don’t have to do more than kiss if you don’t want” he said, seeming a bit defensive. “But she’s so beautiful, I really want to kiss her, I never met a girl like her, so, uh, so женственный”
You blushed to yourself in the kitchen, stirring up the icing of the cake in order to keep normalcy - the noise from the whisk on the pot would be enough for them to pay you no attention at all. You had no idea what that last word meant, but it sounded like a compliment.
“Well, you don’t have to ask ME that, you can go ask her if she wants to kiss you” Theo spat, coming off jealous.
“Fine, you cranky” he answered. “But you better seem happier when I marry her” he added, as he walked towards the kitchen. “A woman like that has to have a good husband, and I make sure is me”
Boris entered the kitchen again as you were setting the icing bowl aside.
“Everything ok with Theo?” You asked, trying not to bring up anything you had heard from the living room.
“Da, he’s just cranky” Boris shrugged softly. “I said you were beautiful and he got jealous”
You laughed at his sincerity. “Really? You think I’m beautiful, then?”
“Totally, very beautiful. I asked if he would be mad if I kissed you” his right arm had ended up around your waist somehow, but it’s not like you were gonna swat it away. You enjoyed his touch.
“And what did he say?” You asked, turning your body to face him, your lips now dangerously close to his.
“I don’t really care. Can I kiss you?”
You nodded, chuckling and putting your hands to his cheeks, lightly pulling him down to compensate for his height.
Boris leaned in and kissed you very gently, as if you were made of sugar and could melt at the slightest touch of his lips. His arms were around your body, fingers lightly tracing the curve of your waist, his cold hands sending shivers to the hot bare skin of your belly.
His lips intertwined perfectly with yours, his tongue timidly slipping into your mouth as his hands grabbed your waist. You couldn’t help but faintly moan into the kiss and put your hand to his nape, fingers interlocking in his hair, bringing him closer. He was clearly trying to contain himself, and seemed utterly out of breath when you bit his lower lip maliciously.
When you broke the kiss, the look on his face was quite similar to when he used drugs: pupils dilated, eyes wide open, mouth slightly open and cheeks flushed. His palms were a bit sweaty and he muttered something in Russian that you couldn’t comprehend. You had gotten him wrapped around your finger - it must have been love at first bite.

Coming home for Christmas- Jude Bellingham
A/n: Happy holidays guys, I have one more Christmas story to come out in the next few days and then a surprise new mini series for new years so get ready Christmas is supposed to be a happy and joyful time of year but this year I just can't get myself in the Christmas spirit. My boyfriend Jude was supposed to spend Christmas with me and my family this year I left a week before Christmas to spend more time with my family and he was supposed to join us after his last league game but due to bad weather he hasn't been able to get a flight. He's been trying for days and last night he text me and said the last flight that would get here on time got cancelled and he wouldn't be able to make it. I had to hide my sadness in front of my siblings as they didn't need me to ruin Christmas for them but once they had gone to bed I did have a good cry with my mum.
Last year I spent Christmas with Jude's family so this year we were supposed to switch and he'd spend Christmas with my family for the first time. I was so excited to have him here and so were my parents and siblings as they love Jude. We had so many plans and Jude was going to join in with all the family Christmas traditions like the matching pyjamas which I have on while I cry looking at Jude's untouched pair on the dresser in my room. Jude did promise to FaceTime me for most of the day but it just won't be the same as having him here.
~~~~~~~~~~
I must've fallen asleep at some point last night as I got woken up by my youngest sister jumping on top of me yelling that Santa had been. She was trying to drag me out of bed and straight downstairs but I managed to convince her to wait just a minute which gave me just enough time to brush my teeth and grab a hoodie to keep me warm. It was only as I walked down the stairs I realised I had one of Jude's hoodies on which made me miss him all over again. Yet again I put on a smile as all my younger siblings were so excited and looking at all the gifts waiting for them under the tree.
The kids really wanted to open presents but my parents insisted we all have breakfast first which in recent years has become my job as everyone loves my pancake recipe. I got the hint and got up to start making the pancakes but before I could get very far the doorbell rang and because I was closest I offered to answer it. My parents didn't say anything which has me a bit confused as I thought they'd be more curious about who was at the door at 7am on Christmas Day but I didn't think much else of it.
I opened the door still holding the spoon I was about to use to mix the pancake batter but that quickly landed on the ground when I saw Jude stood in front of me. I couldn't believe it he wasn't supposed to be here but here he is stood right in front of me. After taking a second to process what just happened I jumped into his arms which luckily he was expecting and he caught me holding me tightly to his chest.
"What are you doing here I thought your flight was cancelled" I said
"I may have lied the flight was delayed for a while but I got in at 3am and slept in the airport for a bit before getting a taxi here to surprise you I thought it would be fun to see your face when I turned up which is why I didn't tell you" he said
"This is the best Christmas present ever I was so sad that you were going to miss everything but now you're here you can help me make pancakes as that's the first tradition we have" I said excitedly
"Let me bring my bags in then I'll help make your famous pancakes" he said
I helped him bring in his suitcases and he took one up to my room but he told me to leave the other one downstairs as it had presents in. He greeted all of my family on his way back down and  made sure to act over the top excited when the kids showed him all the gifts under the tree. Eventually he escaped and helped me make the pancakes and serve them as they came out the pan. As Jude can’t take anything seriously for more than five minutes once I'd made both of us some pancakes he grabbed the whipped cream and put some on the pancakes but also my nose. He managed to take a picture before I could wipe the cream off and put it in his face instead. We had to clean up otherwise I'd get in trouble but we laughed the entire time which really made me happy as this is exactly what I wished today would be like.
After breakfast it was time to open presents so Jude went and got his second suitcase which was completely filled with presents which he'd clearly wrapped himself as they weren't very neat but it's the thought that counts. He'd got a couple presents for all my siblings and my parents then he piled the rest of them up in front of me. He has a tendency to go a bit overboard with presents but I didn't expect him to get so much for the rest of my family too as I told him that he didn't have to and I could put some of my presents from him too. The kids all opened their presents first which they were very happy with especially their gifts from Jude as he got them all things they really wanted so they were happy.
While they played with their new toys the rest of us took turns opening gifts. Jude really showed me up with the gifts he got my parents but I'm ok with it as it just shows me that I picked the best boyfriend who cares for my entire family not just me. I managed to redeem myself with my presents for Jude as I went all out I got him things I knew he'd like but also some more sentimental personal gifts which he seemed to really love. Jude can be hard to buy for as he already has everything and he makes a hell of a lot more than I do but I like getting him things that mean something. Jude like always got me things he knew I'd love and like always he was right although I think I'm going to need another suitcase to get it all back out Madrid.
Just when I thought he couldn't possibly have bought any more gifts for me he grabbed my hand and took me to my room upstairs where he handed me a small wrapped box. I took the wrapping paper off but hesitated for a second before opening the box because part of me wondered if it was an engagement ring and as much as I love Jude we said we would wait a bit longer to take that next step in our relationship. My heart rate felt like it tripled when I opened the box and saw a beautiful but delicate ring but Jude quickly managed to calm me down.
"Don't worry this isn't an engagement ring I know we agreed to wait for that but I wanted you to have something that showed how much I love you and shows my commitment to you until the day I give you a proper ring so I guess this a promise ring my promise to always be there by your side and to love you" he said nearly making me cry
"Jude that's the sweetest thing you've ever said and this ring is beautiful" I said
"I hoped you'd like it and I get if you don't want to wear it on your ring finger we don't want to give people the wrong impression but I thought you could wear it on your right hand and it could be our little secret only we know the true meaning behind it" he said
"Thats a great idea" I said leaning in to kiss him
"I do have them sometimes" he joked
I gave him another kiss before he put the ring on my finger and we headed back downstairs. It was a matter of seconds before Jude was stolen from me by my brothers to play football even though it's freezing outside. Before I knew it I'd been roped in too and I was forced to be in goal but it was kind of ok with me as it meant I could put on thicker gloves and pretend they are goalkeeping gloves. Jude taught the boys a lot of little tricks which they picked up quickly and soon they were able to get just as many goals past me as Jude. They had fun but eventually even they felt the cold and we all got to go back inside where my sister was waiting with her new dolls that Jude got her so he was made to play with her but he didn't seem to mind. One of the many reasons I love Jude is because he's so good with all my siblings and they all love him so much when I come home they always ask for Jude even when he's not with me.
Jude eventually got freed from doll playing duties and we got to relax for a little while before my mum started cooking the Christmas dinner and I agreed to help along with Jude who decided he didn't want to leave my side. I was a little nervous about him helping as he's not the best cook in fact he's the worst cook I know but with detailed instructions he did quite well dealing with the vegetables. As he watched the water bubbling his arms wrapped around my waist while I made the Yorkshire puddings which didn't help me at all but he's cute and I've missed him in our week apart so I let him. Once my part was done my mum made us go and enjoy ourselves which we didn't need to be told twice we finally got a few minutes to ourselves to relax and cuddle on the sofa.
Dinner was lovely my mum did a great job and Jude was proud of his contribution so I didn't bother telling him the carrots were slightly overdone. For the whole meal he had a hand on my thigh occasionally rubbing circles on it all while smiling at me like he'd just seen a puppy. His smile was so infectious that we were both smiling at each other throughout the entire meal and completely in our down world. This is exactly how I pictured Christmas with Jude being the little moments like playing with my siblings, cooking together and enjoying dinner together really just made my heart feel filled with love and the Christmas spirit.
After dinner we didn't have to help with cleaning up as we both helped cook so Jude carried me upstairs over his shoulders to my room. He insisted that we put on our matching pyjamas as he missed that part of my family tradition and then he made sure we took pictures together which he promised he would post but I know in a few hours one will be on his instagram story. Despite it only being 8pm we got ready for bed and got under the covers to cuddle as that's the only thing that felt right to end off the perfect day. Just when I thought things couldn't get any better Jude put on miracle on 34th street which I love to watch but he doesn't so I know he did it just for me.
"I'm so glad you could make it today has been the best day" I said
"Me too your whole family are so lovely your brothers are going to be great footballers, your sister has one hell of an imagination and your parents are just so kind to me" he said
"They all love you so much probably more than me but that's ok because I love seeing all of you get along" I said
"Well my family loves you more than me so I guess we're even" he joked
"I guess we are" I smiled kissing him before settling back down to finish watching the movie
