Thor: The Dark World - Deleted Scene, Alternate Frigga Death

Let's talk about this scene. What did Malekith mean by "is that what he told you?" talking about Bor. Is there another truth to the story the previous king told his son?

Why did Odin not fire at them? Gungnir does have the power to kill with one charge. I hated how Frigga KNEW he was going to sacrifice her to protect the Aether. (and still tried to get him to free her :'(

Had he held them up for a few seconds longer, Thor would have had the time to strike properly.

I still wish they would have shot the scene as mentioned in this post.

I'm of the opinion that MCU!Loki would be far more willing to die to save MCU!Frigga than the other way around (even if she's interpreted as genuinely caring for him), and it has fucked up angst potential.

The implications of Rio Vidal/Death’s introduction to the MCU are enormous.

Now we know in retrospect that every single MCU character who has ever died was escorted onward by her.

So it’s not just Nicky, Sharon, Alice, and Lilia.

Abraham Erskine, Meredith Quill, Ho Yinsen, Phil Coulson, Frigga, Pietro Maximoff, Peggy Carter, T’Chaka, Odin, Hela, Erik Killmonger, Heimdall, OG!Loki, OG!Gamora, Thanos, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Aunt May, Jane Foster, T’Challa, Ramonda, Maria Hill … all of them saw her when their time came.

And it makes sense that Marc Spector & Steven Grant never saw her, because it was not their time yet and she knew they’d be sent back.

Huzzah, it is @sifkiweek once more! This year I have not missed the deadline! I am posting this for day one as it fits the “throne” prompt pretty well. I’ve posted it as two chapters just for neatness as the whole thing is almost 9000 words which seemed a wee bit unwieldy for a single chapter - both parts already are up so the fic is complete.

Anyway, the plot of this fic is that Queen Sif has a baby and this a) scares her and b) makes her reconsider her position on whether or not Thor needs to die. Oh no, a Corruption Arc!

The children of Odin are clearly better off without him. I mean, look at her!! (she actually reminds me of a Valkrie at a first look 🤔)

In this universe, Hela is not the godess of death anymore, because she doesn't value the same ideas she used to before learning the light part of life. But I wonder, since it hasn't been said in the episode, what is she the godess of now? Maybe she kept the death part, but took on life too. The godess of life and death. It comes full circle. Or perhaps, the Godess of Hope. Because, even though death comes to all, you can have hope in life.

And oh, the end. Of course that for an animated series that doesn't go a lot over 30 min/ episode, you're gonna have an open end.

Which is why I love it! Not only the path Hela undergoes, along with her transformation, is crazy and probably doesn't happen a lot of the time, but it also has huge consequences. It is very likely that in this universe, her and her team prevented the rise of Thanos, citting him from his roots. Let's raise a glass or two for s time where the avengers are alive, and Thor and Loki grow up closer together, not apart. 😌

Odin loved Loki as his youngest son and that is why he did not tell Loki about his true identity and heritage for a thousand years. His main failing as a father is, ironically enough, that he could not keep on his king persona, got deeply attached, and so then he could not eventually do what was necessary of him. (Telling the truth before it is too late.) It is because he loves Loki that his biggest mistake was made.

To that end: Odin - specifically the real, 2011-2013!era Odin - may be an absolutely terrible father half the time, but he is not as terrible as people are under the bold assumption that he is. He wasn't beating his children or forcing them into wars or condoning any of their rivalries. He actively pursued peace and the protection of his family until his world got shattered by the Dark Elves via Frigga's death.

Now I will say he's definitely more awful to Thor than he ever was to Loki... (see: insulting Thor's beau constantly and usually in front of Thor's face, trying to force Thor to do things he doesn't want to do, that time he literally called Thor unworthy of his loved ones and then exiling him instead of, gee, I dunno, making him deal with the repercussions of his actions on the home front.) But you can love someone and still do terrible things around, to, or for them. Parents in particular fall into this trap often... Odin is no exception to this.

Not only can I back up why I firmly believe this if you decide to ask me about it, but you cannot change my mind no matter what you say.

But he is not as god awful as comic!Odin, who absolutely deserved his fate battling Surtur for all eternity.

If the Loki fandom is really gonna play this game, then Frigga needs to be held just as responsible for lying to Loki's face about Loki's true identity and heritage. If not more responsible than Odin. She was the parent closest and therefore the most responsible for Loki. She has absolutely no excuse.

Saying that she was "following Odin's orders" on this matter does not acquit her.

She never had to listen to Odin, actively executes the ability to stand up to and otherwise defy Odin (JUST like her sons do), and is the single person in all of the realms that Odin loves enough to listens to, and speaks his mind around. She did nothing, and there is absolutely no evidence that she ever tried to tell Loki anything.

You know what there is evidence for? Odin having plans to tell Loki the truth one day.

FRIGGA LOVED BOTH OF HER SONS . that was something that she could say without a single doubt but .. ever since they had been little, loki had always been special to her. perhaps it was because odin paid him little to no attention. perhaps it was because thor had been his ever since he had been born - the future king of asgard, the future ruler - but loki had always been her special boy. the one that she had chosen to teach her gift too, hoping that he would be able to make his world a little bit brighter with it. and when she had died? she had died believing that he did not care for her. that he held her responsible, for all that had happened. she hoped not. when she saw him again? frigga did not hesitate as she crossed the distance between them, wrapping her arms tightly around him. "MY SPECIAL BOY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM TO SEE YOU. you.. you look well. perhaps you need a little more sleep, but ... you look good. are you alright?"

You know, a lot of Loki fandom wank could be avoided if people just stopped assuming that everything Mobius says is definitely the literal truth and that he would never tell lies for whatever reason (like to GET A REACTION!) and can never just be wrong about things.
