So I’ve never had to shop for men’s dress shirts before.

What the actual fuck?

There’s no shirt size? Just neck and arm and you pray it fits in the chest and waist???

This is women’s sizing levels of complete and utter bullshit!

Huzzah! One hour later, fake Victorian collar mod complete. Not perfect, but the price is right and it's good enough for a costume I am trying not to spend a fortune on and burn out on.

This was a normal, modern men's dress shirt. I opened the top of the neck band (carefully) with a seam ripper, removed the collar, turned it around so it 'stands' and the 'right' side still faces 'out.' Test fitted, measured to about how tall / short I need it, marked it with tailors' chalk. Carefully sewed it to the 'interior' side of the neck band, then carefully sewed the 'exterior' of the neck band closed. whew

Still not exactly sure what these collars are called, but I no longer need to search for one, or hope for a close tuxedo shirt. The neck band of this one will need some ironing, but it will be covered by a old-timey bow tie, so no worries there. yay
