WRITING COMMISSIONS OPEN‼️IN FINANCIAL DISTRESS
Hello everyone. I'm opening writing commissions because I am in dire financial distress right now. PLEASE consider hiring me or donating to me right now. My family NEEDS help.
MY SITUATION:
I am currently living with my family and we are living with relatives. My father has been nonstop searching for work and getting nothing in return. He will get interviewed sometimes and despite being more than qualified and the interview going well, he won't get the job. My mother is disabled and can only work part time but has also not had any luck getting part time work. I have a younger sister who has to be taken out of school and put into online school because we cannot afford gas to drive her to and from school every day. My mother just got discharged from the hospital two days ago after having surgery to have her thyroid removed because she had thyroid cancer. She's an amputee and cannot afford the supplies for her prosthesis. We have a phone bill to pay as well as a storage unit payment for a unit with all of our stuff in it that we'll lose if we cannot make the payment.
To make matters worse, my maternal grandparents are evil people (I can make a separate post explaining this situation further if need be) and had it out for my parents for months. They are emotionally and mentally abusive and manipulative people. Last month, they started a loud, heated argument, as is typical for them. It was relatively short, but eventually my father leaned over and slammed the bedroom door. Honestly, "slammed" even feels like a stretch. But my grandparents called the police and lied to them by saying my dad slammed my grandfather's hand in the door. The police arrested my dad over this despite there being little to no physical evidence and my mother, sister, and I all testifying that it was not true. This happened the weekend before Christmas. My great uncle was able to call in a friend and get my dad released from jail, but he's going to have to sign bonds papers tomorrow and we do not have the $350 they're asking for, so my father may be detained again. He is just getting his foot in the door at Wal-Mart and is waiting on them to call him to finish his onboarding process and this is throwing a wrench into all that.
We're trying desperately to get on our feet. We want to move in to a place of our own. But it's just one misfortune after another. We need money to pay for my mom's medical expenses, our storage unit, our phone service/Internet, gas, and now legal expenses to keep my dad with us. And that doesn't even touch on the car trouble.
MY WRITING:
These commissions are a desperate attempt to help myself and my family, as writing is my only real skill.
I have experience writing for OR would be able to write for the following fandoms:
Stranger Things
Arcane
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Scream (1994)
Apex Legends
Overwatch
God of War (4 & 5)
Baulder's Gate 3
Dead by Daylight
Cyberpunk 2077
Disco Elysium
My Chemical Romance
Panic! at the Disco
Fall Out Boy
One Direction
I'm proficient in romance, angst, fluff, domestic/familial, and NSFW. I'll write basically anything as long as it isn't a NSFW situation involving minors or animals. I'll write Canon Character x Canon Character, Original Character x Canon Character, and Reader Insert. I'll even do those little head-canon posts. Anything, I just need commissions.
You can find examples of my work on Ao3 here, or under my "my writing" tag here on Tumblr.
I will also beta read for you!
Here is my ko-fi.
Please use that to buy a commission from me! You can also donate there without buying a commission if you want to do that too. And if you aren't in a position to help financially, PLEASE reblog this post to get more eyeballs on it so that other people are given the opportunity to help me.
Thank you for reading. ❤️🔥

“We have arrived, My Love,”
She says, her face an unchanging statue as she dismounts.
He follows suit. “Finally. My eyes grow tired of the passing trees and the quiet of night,” his eyes linger on hers for a moment, and they exchange a knowing look.
Her hand rises to cup his face, her thumb caressing his cheek as she speaks, “Fear not so much, Jin. This time will be different, I swear it.” Her eyebrows crease, stooping to meet her eyes.
Jin, visually apprehensive, “I have not fear when in your presence, my love.” He allows his eyes to close as he leans into her touch, a gesture of faith.
“Perfect. There will be no place for fear or discomfort in our home. This will be the start of our new lives. This will be the start of our legacy.” She turns, looking at the castle ahead.
It was no true castle, instead it was a manor; yet in her mind, it was. While it was not patrolled by royal guard, nor were there battlements for them to man, its broad arches gave the impression of opulence, its stature giving the illusion of royalty.
It stood tall and mighty on its hill, the forms of the surrounding trees casting shadows down upon its ruined shape. The wooden supports on its annexes were cracked and chipped, and the once pristine foundation now takes the form of decayed stone, covered in vine and moss where the forest had claimed it.
The banners of the family crest lay scattered across the surface of the manor, their fabric now tattered and torn after years of exposure to the elements. Harsh winds had whipped through the surrounding forest, twisting and knotting the fabric until the symbols on the banners were barely recognizable to the untrained eye.
However, Morgana recognized the symbol immediately - it was the same crescent moon that adorned the back of her cloak, and the very same one she had branded into her flesh as a mark of her family's legacy.

100% on my first course!
Lets be honest. The next four years are gonna suck but I'm gonna try and make the best of what I can take charge of. I've always said if you're unhappy with your life, change it. No one else is gonna do it for you. So here I am, making changes. I'm 1000% clueless as to what I'm doing, I've got a long way to go, and a lot to learn but I'm motivated. (Fingers crossed by the holiday season of this year, I will not be working full time in my current ungrateful shit job.)

Notes from a TTRPG Freelancer
I am raising my freelance rates soon. Primarily because of inflation and the cost of living crisis. Reading about rates in the industry is so depressing. Per word rates that work out at LESS than minimum wage per hour being considered "above average."
To give some transparency: I'm setting my guideline price to 12.5ppw (pence per word). At an average of 1200 words/day, that's £18.75/hour. I have almost a decade of experience writing and designing TTRPGs. Much of that time I spent being paid 4ppw. On the flip side, I've been paid more than 20ppw by an indie publisher after a successful Kickstarter. I think entry-level writers should be getting far more than 4ppw, but I certainly didn't feel I had the option of raising my prices (and still finding work) until recently.
I am now in the fortunate position that I have just enough income from my own books that if a company refuses my new freelance rates, and I lose the work, I can deal with that. I definitely feel there is a pervasive attitude that being a professional writer is a "dream" job, And so writers should expect low pay because the work is it's own reward - exploiting people's passion, and spreading this idea that creative professions are worth less, despite the fact that they're inherently essential to the end product. Tabletop RPG production compounds these issues by being a small industry full of scattered freelance professionals, with little common knowledge available about standard rates, and few ways of raising those rates without losing all your work. In nearly 10 years, I have either fully written or contributed to almost two dozen rpg books. Most of them all-ages/young audience focused - a niche within a niche. Highly praised in reviews/with awards/direct from players. I have to believe that puts me among the most experienced all-ages rpg writers around. My work has been very well received, and has been in frequent demand. Why has so much of it been valued below a living wage? Because its creative? Because no-one makes a living doing it? I'm afraid I don't have the answers or solutions, other than to suggest those in similar situations share their own experiences - others have already done so. I hope more continue to do so. This thread comes as I look back at my career so far, a career I dreamt of as a child, a career I was led to believe was impossible, that it could only be a hobby, that I was lucky to have made even a little doing it. I look back and wonder if I ever would have made it this far without working for less than I was worth for years. Now that I have the experience and the privilege of (relative) security, I can only hope my perspective is of some use to folks in the industry. I also hope the base of information and support network for rpg freelancers continues to grow. Zak B

HEADS UP
I looked into this website that supposedly helped you start being a freelance writer.
I'll be honest I don't know much about this website. It seemed legit as far as I can tell, and to be honest, I have no proof that it is not.
But I did look into it as best as I could. First off it asks for roughly 50 USD to gain access to all it's features. These features supposedly include training and resources to help you reach clients. This was described as a one time payment cool right?
now there was a timer that said " This deal expires in: ( Insert countdown timer here) " after that it was roughly 100 USD. Still not bad if it had all the features it claimed.
BUT it did not allow for Paypal payment. Only debit/Credit cards. So still wanting to give this a try I took a gamble held off for a week. I got a second checking account so I would have a second card with the 100 USD on it so that way if this website wasn't safe it wouldn't be able to drain my entire bank account.
When I went back, wouldn't you know it? The timer for the 50 USD deal had reset? ( Kinda expected it to, that's a common sales tactic) Then I put in my second debit card that only had 125 USD on it.
It declined my card.
It declined my card twice. And the only option past that point was a blue button that read " Use another card".
SO please keep in mind I am not a great scam detector so take this with a grain of salt but given that there was more than enough money on the card I used. ( that was a perfectly functioning card I might add) Roughly 2.5 times the amount the website was asking for and it still declined my card? I dunno... seems shady. and I'm not messing with it further.
I linked it here so you can be aware of it and either:
Avoid it
Try it yourself ( SAFELY)
Correct me ( Not a scam detector. So I could be wrong but usually if something is too good to be true that's because it is)
It is a bummer I was hoping to start shifting into working from home, I have a backup plan so I can still try to do that, but this would have been awesome. All well....
That being said Eight Parents AU will just proceed uninterrupted ( this would have interrupted it if it worked out.)
Edit: I got a fraud alert email just a little bit ago, gonna go to the bank Monday morning and look into it, will update you guys if it turns out I'm mistaken and it's silly card issues

Remembering Janis Joplin: The Woman Behind ‘Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll’
Drunk on life stoned on beer. Texas girl, Odetta, choir girl, uneducated. Records found, you love life again… up until the age of ten. Those manly shaped shoulders that shook your friends into lust. Liberated liberated. Sad and tired, got to get away. Mother hurt me please! but you can’t make me stay.
The woman made her way to San Francisco. Music, laughter, sorrow in the night. Hollowed prayers disgust in eyes. She sang her way in. Speed freak. Her nipples are cold. They refuse to sing along.
Sister smiles father spits. Devotion has been a lifelong regret.
She joined signed sighed. But she is not silent. Screams of rage, still no success. All I’ve given, everything at best. Tell them Janis of amazing letdowns. Tell them how your bones poke right through. Shaking. Desire. Empty, half full. Black magic fell into the mind of the young like a life of sin. Sailors, saviors. Here to stay, are ya. Ball n’ chain.
Bourbon-fueled raw gutsy, amazement. You felt held back, no more piece of heart to break. Move over, unacceptable lady. Stick it in puke it out, like a crucifix error.
Return to the hole, they laughed once more. Laughable. People dancing as tomorrow isn’t a myth pledged allegiance the power of acceptance. No care in the man’s land, but you do care. Couples naked in the caress of doubt. Your heart burnt the crowd, confessions and contempt. There ain’t nothing like the real thing baby. This is the way, Pearl the way to the very end. Dated in passion and sensitivity. You killed your selves grasping at your weapon of love; you wore your vulnerability like some splinter-covered glove.
Early morning dark, dark night you took too much of what felt good. Craving distraction seeking sense. Home stalking, no more walking. Cause the Kozmic Blues surrendered with abuse. Number twenty-seven shot on your back, the twenty-seventh attack. This is the end, my only friend.
Vintage store, half-ripped book. Staggered kid, hunched view on life, stay away attitude, isolated. Opening the book, a light shot straight into the heart of a poorly cultured kid. Perspective gained. Intensely reading examining pondering. That’s how I found Janis, sitting on my bed, mesmerized by the treasure in my hands. My seventh-grade self would be amused by the fact that that same paper is loudly laying next to me at this very moment. The blues are blasting in the kitchen. And I’m remembering the exact moment she moved me: *freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose*. I didn’t know what I wanted until it found me, until she found me. And I bet ya can relate, hey. Break the broken, they bleed in blue. Sing the songs, Lord know’s they’re true. Measuring misinterpretations, the space between our hearts. Blues oh blues you flame-throwing love!
Early mornings still remind me of you. I’m utterly lost in the translation of your ways. Oh how the people mourn, how we cry out to you. You’re wine, a stain. There are dead roses with your name now your luck is merely rotten, eaten-at flesh. The power in your voice brings the blues to life; there wasn’t a thing you wouldn’t sacrifice.

so now that AI has kind of taken over pretty much everything what are authors gonna do about people who use beta reader assistance for punctuation and grammar, polishing, and all of that, are they gonna start getting red flagged for AI plagiarism to? Like apps like grammerly?
I have a discord server and me and my friends got into a very heated debate over this. their argument was that they don’t really seem much of a difference of using AI for your writing assistance while me personally I do have an issue with it.
I’m fine if you use it for punctuation and grammar, it kind of like the same thing when artist use a 3-D model in order to get an accurate drawing of their figures to have that AI beta reader assistance I do think is stealing because you’re not putting in any of the work what’s the point of it?
If you guys have any thoughts or opinions on it, please comment below.

"I want you to make peace. You're going to talk to your sister one last time. Then she will join your mother."
As she speaks, Lucas tenses up, and he feels the blood in his body run cold. He desperately wants to say something, though as his lips part, he finds it impossible to put his thoughts into words. There were too many. This situation was too much for his mind. Soon, her words become muffled, her face now a watercolor portrait of the woman she used to be.
Time turns into a twisting tide, which shifts from deep greens to a pale gray. Suddenly, he was in a hall, following behind the man from before. A turn is all the caution he takes to make sure that Lucas is following. Lucas does a turn of his own, seeing the room they just left grow further away as they walk. They were heading for his sister. This revelation causes him to smile, though his flame immediately quells as he recalls the reason. A familiar feeling of helplessness offers him solace, and as it pulls him in, he resigns to his fate.
