More than 160 healthcare workers from Gaza, including over 20 doctors, remain in Israeli detention, according to Healthcare Workers Watch (HWW).

The World Health Organization has confirmed that hundreds have been arrested, expressing “deep concern” over the welfare of those still held. HWW warns that the detentions deprive civilians of essential medical care, constituting a violation of international law.

In accounts reported by The Guardian, recently released doctors described harrowing conditions in custody. “No matter how much I talk about what I experienced, it’s only a fraction of what truly happened,” said Dr Mohammed Abu Selmia, who recounted severe beatings, hunger, and deplorable conditions.

While Israeli authorities claim they operate lawfully and detain only ‘terrorism’ suspects, two senior doctors are known to have died while in detention.

The UN and international groups demand the immediate release of medical staff. They warn Gaza’s healthcare system has already collapsed, leaving countless patients without critical treatment.

I think a slightly more accurate description of Bisan’s ask is to stop or minimise all economic activity not in direct support of Palestine. Now more than ever, I would encourage people to donate to escape funds for Palestinians, to direct aid organisations like CareforGaza and the PCRF, and to buy e-sims as they��re running low.
