Claudia, one of your friends, invited you to attend to her beach volley match. The match is held indoor so, given the fact that its summer and in this country summer is also very humid, temperatures are going to be torrid. Beside this fact you're still quite surprised to see that the majority of the players are playing naked, females too (in this parallel univers human are not ashamed by their own bodies). After all sweating is the best way to cool down. She's quite skinny but look really good with that blue bikini, you always liked her so, secretely, you're very happy to see her playing covered just with air. Given the fact that the playground is going to be free the whole day, organizers decided to complete the tournament without skippying to next day.
Some hours have passed and she has played for a lot of time now. Room temperature went higher than 36°C for the whole last matches and now Claudia looks pretty torn. She's always been a warrior, someone who don't surrender easily but all that jumping in this particular condition had an effect on her too. She's covered by sweat, her skin has assumed a reddish tone and her panting has become so deep anyone can clearly hear her fast inspirations and exales. The thing that tunrs on a light in your mind though is the fact that her entire upper body is rhythmically shaking like it's thrusted by a sort of internal earthquake. You suddenly realize that you recently activated a medical app on your phone developped at the laboratory where you work that makes possible medical analises through the phone camera thanks to experimental sensors placed in the camera. You activate the app and feel pretty lifted up by the fact you already added her profile. A thin ensamble of laser rays, almost invisible, is projeced towards her and the selected target orgal (obviously Claudia's heart) becomes visible on the screen. Her heart is beating like crazy, not only considering the pace but also the strenght of each beat, the app says her heart is beating at around 195 bpm but it's probably even higher. It's something that is completely out of any safety zone for someone who is 34 years old... and not even a younger person should push its heart like this. The device can also work as a digital stethoscope and by wearing headphones to listen to her you remained schoked. Her blood is pushed so violently that it's making strange wooshing-like noises by rubbing against her heart internal structures, sounds that almost cover up her slamming valves. Suddenly the software gives a diagnosis: High cardiac risk- probability of a sudden cardiac arrest of 89%-potentially lethal arrhythias occurring. By looking at her detected heart electrical activities, her organ is so over-stimulated that PVCs and VTACs burst are already present. You know exactly what to do, Claudia's life has an 89% probability to end in the next few minutes and it's increasing. You decide to get up from your seat and run towards the referee to show him the analysis of your device. One of the players' heart is going to stop very soon.
A second before you move, on the ecg a strange beat appears and suddenly Claudia's heart interrupts any activity, it doesn't even fibrillate, it just ceases to beat as silence arises from your headphones. Terrified you see her taking a couple of deep breath, the ball she was holding fell on the ground and her left hand is placed in between her bare breasts... after a moment she collapses on the ground.
You have always wanted to place your hand on her chest to feel her heartbeat but now you have to do this to make it beat again. CPR has to be started immediately.

Thank you @sflow-er for tagging me, I really like the moodboard concept!
The idea is to pick a favourite movie, character, animal, drink, song, season, book, colour, and hobby and present them as pictures. Let's go!
Movie: '120 Battements par Minute', France, 2017 (The English title should be '120 BPM'). The film is about the AIDS activist organization ACT UP in Paris in the early '90s. Brilliant acting and directing. Heart-breaking but totally worth it.
Season: spring spring spring!!! Because nature comes back to life with an explosion of colours, the temperature is perfect (not too cold, not too hot) and it's my season of birth.
Character: Lady Oscar my beloved! From the manga and anime Berusaiyu No Bara - The Rose of Versailles. My bi little self was SOOO in love with her when I was a teenager. I still mourn her death every 14th of July.
Book: 'Orlando' by Virgina Woolf. One of the most beautiful representations of love (and life, and personal growth) beyond sex, gender and social conventions I've ever read. In the background, a not-so-subtle criticism of sexism, patriarchy and society as a whole through Woolf's witty irony.
Animal: donkeys! Look at these cuties I met during one of my mountain hikes! This was a hard choice because I like almost all animals and I could have mentioned any of them from gekos to elephants but today I want to show some love to these sweethearts.
Colour: another hard one because I love all colours, but I stay loyal to my favourite since age 3, that is red.
Song: 'Alive' by Sia. The vocals give me chills, and it touches on something personal. I'm still breathing. I'm alive.
Drink: coffee is my religion.
Hobby: drawing doodles with colored pencils. I have many hobbies and I tend to go by phases, but every now and then I enjoy mixing and matching colours and patterns with no specific purpose, it's just relaxing and fun. My inner child is very happy.
I'm tagging @othervee, @wasitroyal, @randomsmilingpotatoes, @pagegirlintraining, @idleness-24-7-blog Please feel free to ignore this if you have already done it or if you're not interested. Anyone who's not tagged but likes the idea, don't hesitate to share your own moodboard!

So, last night I downloaded a bunch of DS rhythm games - mostly ones that had previously fallen under my radar. The issue with the DS' library in particular is that there was just. A lot of shovelware unceremoniously dumped onto it, so while there are a lot of worthwhile games on it a wide range of genres, finding actually, like….y'know…good stuff takes considerable digging. Thankfully, I like digging in the ground for tubers I mean good games
One of the titles I downloaded - and one that I posted about a little bit last night - was Monster Band (released as Music Monstars in Europe). It's an Elite Beat Agents-like, in that you have to hit shrinking targets in time to the music. While the gameplay itself isn't really a whole lot to write home about, the graphics are simple and fun (reminding me more than a little of Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove on the 3DS), and the licensed soundtrack, as stated previously, is fucking bananas. If it had been in production a few years later it would have one hundred percent had an endearingly shitty MIDI of Shakira's Loba in its roster.
Something about this game made it feel like a DSiWare title - it's short, it's simple, but it's so so weird. I think it's definitely worth checking out, if for nothing else than the pure novelty of some of the choice choons in it. It also includes a tool to let you mess around with the digital instruments that the game itself uses for its soundtrack, so that's pretty neat - I'm sure someone more musically-inclined than I could get a lot of use from that; I personally just smashed out the riff of Megalovania on the organ preset and called it a day.
Strangely, Europe got a pretty tonally-appropriate cover, while America got box art that was no doubt intended to confuse parents who kept getting harangued by their kids about the newest Rock Band game:
The other game I tested out…is…something called Dance: It's Your Stage! Apparently this was a multi-platform release, and while the Wii/PS3/XB3 versions are DDR clones (with the WORST arrow layouts I've ever seen in a game of its ilk. Yippee!!!!!!!!), the DS version is…also an Elite Beat Agents clone, except where Music Monstars was a lesser EBA clone for its lack of variety in its gameplay, this is a lesser EBA clone because it's simply not very good in any capacity, specifically not offering any of the feedback that EBA showcases.
Elite Beat Agents' marble mechanic, where you roll a ball from one marker to another at a consistent tempo so it "lands" in time with the music is by no means my favorite part of the game, but it does work in that game. Each note also plays a sound to let you know that you've hit it on time, but Dance: It's Your Stage has none of this auditory signaling, the marble mechanic confusingly never plays back at a speed that seems to fit the track (which is notable for how often it crops up in the charts), and….ough, the soundtrack.
I kind of knew instinctively that it was royalty-free music. There's nothing wrong with stock music - it's something that a human, somewhere, made. It's admirable. Royalty-free music, by design, however, is kind of made to slot in into the background without calling attention to itself, so it's an extremely odd choice for a rhythm game - none of the tracks are enough to really grab you, and all of the music is around the same middling BPM, so it's hard to convince yourself that there's really anything in the way of diversity in the audio.
Oh wait hold up. Live update while I'm typing this: this game was apparently a tie-in to a reality show that got cancelled after one season for low ratings. That makes sense. Uhh, I dunno, play Ontamarama instead of this. Ontamarama unironically rules.

few notes from someone who's been doing this for ~13 years:
I would make an explicit distinction between VST (used for processing/effects) and VSTi (MIDI instruments).
"keep in mind also, VSTs work from bottom up, ie the bottom-most VST affects the ones on top of it, so be sure to organize them in that manner in your FX window"
that's a slightly confusing and misleading way to word it. it's more accurate to say that the FX chain path proceeds from the top of the list to the bottom, e.g. a distortion at the bottom of the list is fed by and will respond to anything above it (an EQ boost/cut, compression, delay, etc.).
double clicking to add notes in the piano roll is contingent on what note length the grid is set to; if you're doing anything with many different note lengths, it might be faster to just click and drag to add notes rather than double clicking and adjusting the length.
the volume control opened with the V key is specifically an automation envelope; one of these can be opened for virtually any track/FX parameter to change it over the course of the track. using it for stuff like reverb swells or weird panning effects is fun. you can see the available automation envelopes by clicking the button that looks like 3 connected dots on a track. you can also right-click an automation point to change its shape, value, etc.
you can also scan for new plugins from the "Add FX" window ("FX" drop-down -> "Scan for new plugins" or just press F5). faster than going to preferences.
if you want to save system resources, particularly for large/CPU-intensive projects, you'll want to be freezing tracks (Track -> Render/freeze tracks -> Freeze tracks to...). this renders the track to an actual audio file (wav by default, but I use wavpack to save space unless I'm going to be handing the tracks off to someone else [I never do, but I'd use wav if I did]) with all FX baked into it and thus removed from the track. you can unfreeze it later to bring the FX back and change parameters, but if you've messed with the audio item itself (e.g. splitting or shortening it) you'll get a warning about those changes.
other than that I think I just have stylistic quibbles (e.g. I would not ever do 32nd notes at 40 BPM rather than 16th notes at 80 BPM or 8th notes at 160 BPM, but if you want to that's your business I suppose).
otherwise, decent beginner overview.
I do want to STRONGLY cosign/emphasize your recommendation of Decent Sampler. it's an incredibly powerful instrument with a plethora of free, high-quality sample libraries that you can download straight from the FX window. I've used it extensively on literally every track of the album I'm working on.
HEADS UP im starting on a how-to googledoc for absolute beginners on music making!

Understanding the fundamentals of business automation
Automation has impacted practically every industry throughout the years, including healthcare systems, assembly lines, and ATMs. However, automation is being elevated to a whole new level by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). The way people and machines interact is changing as a result of this so-called "intelligent automation," which enables organizations to grow their clientele, boost productivity, and succeed in competitive marketplaces. In actuality, studies demonstrate the enormous financial advantages of automation. According to the IBM Institute for Business Value, AI-enabled automation will produce a labor value of billions of dollars in 2022 alone. This essay examines how business automation is evolving, why it's important now, and what to think about if you want to use automation in your own company.
Business automation: What is it?The use of technology to automate monotonous operations and free up employees for higher-value work is known as business automation. This covers robotic process automation (RPA), business process automation (BPA), and automation driven by artificial intelligence. Automation used to require enormous mainframes and a team of specialists to maintain them. These days, businesses of all sizes may access the capabilities thanks to cloud-based automation tools.
The following are some examples of business automation types:
1. Basic automation: Basic automation is the process of automating basic, elementary tasks. Basic automation technologies digitize repetitive activities with little to no coding, reducing errors and speeding up transactional activity. Two instances of basic automation are RPA and business process management (BPM). 2. Process automation: Process automation maintains consistency and openness in company processes. Process automation, which is frequently managed by specialized software, can boost output and efficiency while also providing insightful business data. Examples of process automation include workflow automation and process mining.
3. Advanced automation: This type of automation integrates many systems inside an organization by combining human and machine capabilities. Advanced automation, which facilitates intricate procedures, depends on unstructured data in conjunction with machine learning, natural language processing, and analysis. It encourages decision support for specialized work and knowledge management.
4. Intelligent automation: AI-powered intelligent automation enables robots to "learn" and decide for themselves depending on scenarios they have seen and examined. AI-powered virtual assistants, for instance, can lower expenses in customer service while facilitating more intelligent interactions between customers and human workers. An improved level of customer service is the outcome.
What makes business automation crucial?
Automation is a wonderful approach to accelerate business growth and streamline processes, regardless of the size of your company. Automation tools allow you to shift human labor to other areas of the business by substituting machine labor for human labor.
Businesses must continuously use best practices and tested automation software across all workflows to fully benefit from automation. This includes streamlining internal procedures and enabling faster-digitized consumer experiences.
Nevertheless, not every solution has every piece of technology required to automate end-to-end processes. This may result in several-point solutions, increased expenses, and a scalability issue.
Business automation advantages: Business automation is essential in a world that is changing quickly. It can be difficult to foresee which customer behaviors, such as sharply changing demand or increased health and safety concerns, would endure beyond the pandemic.
However, you do have some control over how you handle the experiences you give your clients. You can improve or adjust these experiences with automation, particularly when it's paired with AI. This will increase revenue, make better use of your resources, and boost customer pleasure. Using an automation platform that assists you in doing the following is one of the greatest ways to accomplish this:
1. Identify procedures: Identify areas of your business where there are inefficiencies or hotspots to assist decide where automated procedures can have the biggest impact. Modeling and process mining are involved in this.
2. Apply intelligence: Make recommendations for actions based on data from automating your processes using AI and machine learning, freeing up personnel for more strategic duties.
3. Expand your personnel: Create RPA tools and send out digital workers to work alongside people whenever increased productivity may be attained or when support is required.
4. Automate core operations: To satisfy business demands, apply fundamental automation capabilities—document processing, workflow orchestration, content services, and decision management—to critical operational areas.

F1 Drivers in Performing Arts
we are back in familiar territory baby. idk a ton about strings but it'll definitely be better than the first two
String Orchestra
Max:
auraless concertmaster
violin is hella expensive and very very nice
rehearses with the little towel on his shoulder
has considered switching instruments so he could be first chair without having to actually do the concertmaster duties
surprisingly patient in sectionals though
has relative perfect pitch and is mad that it’s not absolute
thinks lance is lying about his perfect pitch
featured in student showcase
paganini 24
favorite variation is the chords, least favorite is the 8va
him and lewis in a hogging practice rooms-off
“dude why would you even choose an ensemble room you're by yourself and we need the quartet space”
“the larger rooms of course have better acoustics and you guys were not here so i thought you were not rehearsing today”
Alex:
violin 1
third or fourth chair
almost decided to play clarinet instead but thought the embouchure made him look ugly
intense about the select string quartet but doesn’t really care about chamber stuff
was only too happy to exclude max because he had too many “concertmaster duties”
arranges music for quartet but only songs he likes
hates baroque so, so much
had to be bribed AND blackmailed into performing air on a g string one year
string quartet in student showcase
libertango arr. for string quartet by alex albon
was the fiddler on the roof for a theater production at some point before the charles era
Yuki:
first chair cello
if he could only play concertos he would
thinks quartets and chamber music are boring
takes “quick breaks” where he sits around in a practice room eating and watching a movie for like an hour
he’ll vacate the room without a fuss if you ask him to leave though
“oh no there are no more rooms ig i’m done for the day what a shame”
gets in trouble at least once a month for being impatient with his section
“you can’t just tell them they’re bad and this sectional isn’t worth your time”
mood improved immensely when he realized the other first chairs just treat their sectionals like free practice
featured in student showcase
saint-saens allegro appassionato
takes the accel at a different pace every time and stresses everyone out
also in color guard
was rifle line but dropped to flags in protest of the pierre snub
is the reason they don’t do sabre anymore (attempted murder)
George:
least neurotic first chair viola
has pre-prepared lectures on the difference between violin and viola
the only first chair that gets anything done in sectionals
violas come out after 90 minutes perfectly in tune and bowing in unison
everyone else is +5 lvls in brawlstars/clash royale
would be a better concertmaster than max if he was violin 1 but he’s ride or die for his instrument
loves viola the way delusional people love their deranged looking dogs
lies to himself about the timbre sounding better than violin/cello
in select string quartet with alex
the one who blackmailed and bribed him into playing bach
organizes pit orchestra rehearsals
somehow gets an entire functional pit together in like 3 weeks before opening night
Checo:
double bass
3rd out of 3 chairs
got gang pressed into jazz band
ended up learning electric bass as well
one of those cringe bassists who slaps when he shouldn't and feels no shame about it
draggggggggs like hell
jazz band in student showcase
moanin
single handedly pulls the bpm down from like 235 to 200 in 32 measures (actually impressive)
takes terrible care of his bow
that thing hasn’t seen rosin in months
he actually lost his block and has to borrow from his first chair
made a joke once about quitting orchestra for concert band and now the conductor has him on the equivalent of a 24 hour watch
“we’re all here for you what do you need?”
“don’t choose a permanent solution to a temporary problem”
tied with kmag in world championships of being on your phone during rehearsal
